Victor: Sweetheart, I don't know what you're talking about.

Abby: It's what Mommy said.

Victor: Oh, what exactly did you hear her say?

Abby: She said you're my Daddy.

Victor: Well, was she telling you a story or a fairy tale?

Abby: No, on television.

Victor: Aha, you and your Mommy were on television?

Abby: No, just Mommy. I was watching.

Victor: Aha. So who was Mommy talking to? I mean, was there someone else in the room?

Abby: No.

Victor: So just you and Mommy were watching something together on television?

Abby: No, Frances was getting my mittens, Mommy was in the bedroom. That's when I heard it.

Victor: And you heard your Mommy say that I am your Daddy?

Abby: Yes, that's right. I want to go find Colleen.

Victor: Yeah, Colleen is making a phone call. She's probably right behind there somewhere, okay?

John: You want something stronger?

Jill: (Chuckles) crawling inside of a bottle would make a disastrous day like today a little easier to bear, but, no, thank you.

John: That board meeting, hmm, quite a surprise.

Jill: My God, I never in a million years dreamed that Victor would retract his offer.

John: Well, he might not have had my son kept his mouth shut.

Jill: I could a strangled Jack with my bare hands.

John: Oh, Jill, what's done is done. We're gonna have to regroup now, come up with some new strategies. It is not the first time Jabot has had setbacks. We will survive.

Jill: How can you be so optimistic about this?

John: You are upset about something more, aren't you?

Jill: What do you mean?

John: Oh, I can read you. Yeah, there's something more than the loss of Victor's $75 million. Do you want to talk about it?

Arthur: Well, don't you look stunning tonight, Katherine.

Kay: Well, I certainly hope so, because a very handsome man is taking me out to dine tonight at the colonnade room.

Arthur: Iíve been looking forward to it all day.

Kay: What's in the box?

Arthur: Oh, some toys I found in my room over the garage tucked away in a closet.

Kay: Toys? I didn't know. We've had no children around here in years.

Arthur: These aren't toys for children, my dear. I suspect that you'd forgotten that you'd put them away up there.

Kay: Arthur, whatever are you talking about?

Arthur: Oh, come on now. You're holding out on me, aren't you, hmm?

Kay: What do you mean?

Kay: Oh, my word. What on earth?

Arthur: I believe they're what you might call adult toys.

Kay: Well, Arthur, I know nothing about that box. In fact, I am mortified.

Arthur: Oh, don't be, Katherine. It's a wondrous and adventurous side of you I didn't know you had. I couldn't be happier. (Chuckles)

Lauren: (Gasps)

Michael: Oh, Lauren, whoa. I'm sorry. Are you still open?

Lauren: I was just... I was locking up. What can I do for you?

Michael: Well, we haven't seen each other since the clerk's office, and I wanted to thank you again for paying Kevinís bail. And I wanted to warn you that I...

Lauren: Your brother knows what I did.

Michael: Uh-oh.

Lauren: Yeah, he was here.

Michael: You seem upset. What did Kevin do?

Lauren: If I tell you something, are you obligated to go to the police with it, I mean, because you're his attorney?

Michael: No, no, I don't have to say a word to anybody. What's going on?

Lauren: He confessed.

Michael: To trying to electrocute Brittany?

Lauren: No, the other stuff--Lily, the burning down of Ginaís. He did it, Michael, and he has been lying to us the whole time.

(Knock on door)

Kevin: No, no, no.

Paul: We need to talk.

Kevin: Well, maybe you do, but I donít.

Paul: Well, you know, I can stand here all night. I'm not going anywhere. Excuse me. I talked to your landlord. He hasn't seen much of you lately.

Kevin: Yeah, well, I'm staying here for awhile.

Paul: Really? Where's your brother?

Kevin: He's out.

Paul: Oh. So you're here all alone without a babysitter?

Kevin: What do you want?

Paul: I'll get right to the point, Kevin. I saw you leave the boutique earlier.

Kevin: And?

Paul: And I understand you said something rather interesting to Lauren.

Kevin: What is it about women? They feel like they have to broadcast everything. What did she say?

Paul: I know you confessed. I know what you did to Lily. I know that you started the fire in Ginaís with Colleen locked inside. I know everything, Kevin. Everything.

Jill: I don't want to bother you with this.

John: What are ex-husbands for?

Jill: Thank you. It's just that with my father moved into the house, I can't help but feel that it's only a matter of time before there's some crisis.

John: Has Katherineís drinking gotten worse?

Jill: No, it's not worse. It's just, there are no guarantees from day to day what I'm gonna find when I get home.

John: Jill, Arthur sounds like a man who is intelligent and understanding and can handle any crisis that comes his way.

Jill: Oh, please don't bet on that. I'm telling you, when Katherine is in her cups, life becomes a hell for anyone around her, and trust me, I know.

John: Jill, let me ask you a question.

Jill: What?

John: Are you concerned about your father's ability to handle Katherineís drinking or...

Jill: Or what?

John: Is this more about your territorial feelings for a man who's very fond of your mother?

Jill: I have to go now. Good night. See what surprises await me at home.

John: Jill, don't go away mad.

Jill: Oh, darlin', I could never be mad at you. Have a nice evening.

Victor: Brad, you got a minute?

Brad: You haven't left?

Victor: No. I just ran into your daughter at the restaurant.

Brad: Colleen?

Victor: And Abby.

Brad: What are they doing here?

Victor: Apparently, Colleen took her for some ice cream.

Brad: What does that have to do with your still being here?

Victor: Your daughter Abby told me something that I found rather strange. Came here to find out what she meant.

Kevin: I didn't confess. Did she tell you that?

Paul: Unbelievable. I mean, what exactly did you say to Lauren?

Kevin: Our conversations are private.

Paul: Oh, really? I doubt the police would feel the same way.

Kevin: Okay, fine. I went over there to thank her for paying my bail. If she twisted that into something else, I don't know what to tell you. Talk to her about it.

Paul: You know, I gotta hand it to you, Kevin. I mean, for months, I have been trying to get you to open up and reveal something incriminating. Then you know what you do? Out of the blue, you blurt it out all by yourself. You made my job a hell of a lot easier.

Kevin: Yeah, well, obviously, you're not very good at your job because you still don't have any evidence.

Paul: That is the beauty of this whole thing. I don't have to be very good at my job when you open up your big mouth. The only thing you didn't do is confess to trying to electrocute Brittany. But look, I'm not worried about that. We have plenty of time to nail you for that one.

Kevin: You think I don't know what you're trying to do here? You're trying to trap me.

Paul: Oh.

Kevin: You're probably wearing a tape recorder or something. Well, it's not gonna work.

Paul: Hey, face it, my young friend, it is all over for you.

Kevin: Go, go, go. Get out of here. Go.

Paul: Why, so you can race over to the boutique? You can't blame Lauren for this one. She didn't rat you out. I put this whole thing all together by myself. She only filled in the blanks.

Kevin: Oh, yeah? Well, she shouldn't have been talking about me in the first place.

Paul: Really?

Kevin: She said she was my friend and that I could trust her.

Paul: Well, you know what? Hey, for the time being, you still can.

Kevin: What?

Paul: She's refusing to go to the police.

Kevin: Really?

Paul: Really. Don't worry, I'm gonna fix that.

Kevin: Lauren won't turn her back on me.

Paul: Hmm, you don't seem too confident in there. You really donít.

Kevin: She likes me, Paul. She cares about me.

Paul: You're right, she does care about you. For some reason, she feels sorry for you. She doesn't want you to do anything stupid.

Kevin: Like what?

Paul: Like what you tried to do the other night in your apartment, you know, the... you really got to her, Kevin. She's been an emotional mess ever since then. So if you really do care about her, you'll go to the cops and confess about this whole thing. You'll make it easier on yourself, make it easier on her.

Michael: You sure about that? Maybe you misunderstood.

Lauren: I know what I heard, Michael. He stood right there and told me that he was guilty and then made me promise not to tell anybody.

Michael: I'm glad you told me.

Lauren: You're not gonna tell anybody, are you? I mean, you are his brother, his lawyer.

Michael: Relax. Lauren, you did me a favor, and you probably did Kevin a favor in the long run, all right?

Lauren: Are you okay?

Michael: Yeah. I guess I always knew at Kevin was capable of. I just let myself hope that he was telling the truth. How'd you get him to confess?

Lauren: I'm not real proud of that.

Michael: You coaxed it out of him.

Lauren: I told him that it would be therapeutic, that the secrets would just eat away at him. I can't believe I'm betraying him.

Michael: You did the right thing. I needed to know.

Lauren: He's so afraid of going back to jail. I don't know what he would do--

Michael: Lauren, Lauren, just relax. There's nothing to worry about. I don't have to say anything to the police.

Lauren: And what about me? What am I supposed to do?

Michael: Well, that's tricky. Technically, you should go to the authorities.

Lauren: No. I won't do that. I mean, even when Paul told me that that's what I should--

Michael: Hold on, wait. Paul? No. Oh, Lauren, no. Paul--Paul knows about this?

Arthur: I wonder how some of these things work.

Kay: Oh, Arthur, for heaven's sakes.

Arthur: You naughty woman, you.

Kay: I'm going to say it again-- now I know nothing about that box or whatever's in it. None of those items belong to me, Arthur, none.

Arthur: Uh-huh. Your former maid, perhaps.

Kay: Oh, please. Esther wouldn't know how to use any of that stuff in there if you gave her--

Arthur: Well, then who do you suppose they belong to?

Kay: Well, your answer and the owner may have just walked in the door.

Jill: What are you two talking about?

Kay: Ask her, Arthur. Ask your daughter.

Jill: Ask me what?

Arthur: These, Jill. Your mother seems to think they may belong to you.

Jill: Oh, dear lord. Where did those come from?

Kay: In the room over the garage.

Arthur: In the closet.

Kay: Obviously, where you hid them.

Arthur: Don't worry, Jill. We're all adults here. No need to be embarrassed.

(Telephone rings) (ring)

Nikki: Hello.

Ashley: It's Ashley.

Nikki: I might have known it was you. Can't you give me a moment's peace?

Ashley: Not tonight, I canít.

Nikki: Well, that's very selfish of you.

Ashley: Have you told Victor yet?

Nikki: No.

Ashley: Why not?

Nikki: Because he's not home yet.

Ashley: Well, where is he?

Brad: I'm not interested in any conversations you had with my child, Victor. What I want is for you to stay the hell away from my family.

Victor: Your daughter told me a rather extraordinary thing.

Brad: Yeah?

Victor: She said I'm her father.

Brad: What exactly did she say?

Victor: She said, "Mommy said you're my father." And that she saw her mother say that on television.

Brad: What does that mean?

Victor: I have no idea. I thought you might throw some light on this rather absurd notion. Does this upset you in some way?

Brad: It only upsets me for one reason, Victor.

Victor: And what's that?

Brad: Because it's the truth.

Victor: What is the truth?

Brad: God help me. God help us all. What Abby told you is the truth.

Jill: Seriously, Dad, I have no idea where those came from.

Arthur: It's not that important, sweetheart.

Jill: Besides, you know, there have been any number of people who have stayed in that room over the garage.

Kay: Larry Warton comes to mind, yes.

Arthur: Friend of yours, Katherine?

Kay: No, no, not a friend of mine. He's a friend of Jillís. He stayed here for a little while. They had quite a romance going on.

Jill: Oh, Katherine, please don't exaggerate.

Kay: Well, as I recall, he did climb out of your window and down the drainpipe wearing nothing but a pair of shorts. It was in the dead of winter.

Jill:Could we talk about something else, please?

Kay: I think we're upsetting her.

Jill: I have had the most miserable day at Jabot. I mean, it was total insanity over there.

Kay: Well, then perhaps you should, um... take a warm bath and retire early.

Jill: I have a much better idea. Dad, could I take you out to dinner, please? There are so many things I would love to talk about with you. What do you say?

Nikki: Ashley, I don't know where Victor is.

Ashley: Are you holding out on me?

Nikki: Why would I do that?

Ashley: Because I know you don't want to tell him, Nikki.

Nikki: Look, just because you've left me no choice, doesn't mean I'm looking forward to it. Anyway, right now I'm not sure where he is. He went to the gym, and he's not back.

Ashley: I'm not comfortable with you being the only one to tell him. It's not too late for me to be there.

Nikki: Yes, it is.

Ashley: Look, I need to protect my interests.

Nikki: This whole fiasco is about your interests, so no. I'm going to do this in my own way. He's my husband, not yours. I have a lot more to lose. So I will tell him when I see him. That's all you need to know. Now just please leave me in peace.

Victor: None of this makes any sense to me. You're telling me that your daughter Abby is telling the truth when she says that I'm her father?

Brad: That's what I'm telling you.

Victor: It doesn't make any sense. It's not possible. Well, you're not insinuating that your wife and I had a clandestine affair.

Brad: No, no, no, no. That's not what it's about.

Victor: So then what are you talking about, immaculate conception?

Brad: Look, Victor, I can't give you all the details, all right?

Victor: Bradley, you can't lay this on me without explaining yourself. What's going on here?

Brad: It's a high-tech world.

Victor: What do you mean, "Itís a high-tech world"? What does that have to do with anything?

Brad: I can't give you all the answers. Just know that it involves a sperm bank and artificial insemination.

Brad: The point I'm trying to make is that what I'm telling you and what Abby told you is the truth.

Victor: That beautiful little girl is my daughter?

Brad: Biologically. Only biologically.

Victor: How can Ashley do this to me?

Arthur: It's really nice of you to ask, Jill, but you see--

Kay: Your father and I already have plans.

Jill: Oh, that's why you're all dressed up.

Arthur: We have reservations at the colonnade room.

Jill: Could you cancel them? I would so much love to spend time with you tonight.

Kay: What do you expect me to do, stay home, watch television?

Jill: You could. You could. There are good shows on tonight.

Kay: Then you stay home, and you watch television.

Jill: Oh, my God, come on. You two can go out any time.

Kay: So can you and Arthur.

Arthur: Now look, this is not worth arguing about, ladies. I have the perfect solution.

Jill: What is that?

Arthur: We will all go out to dinner together, make a family evening I it. Katherine, why don't you call the Colonnade room and tell them there'll be three of us for dinner, all right, darling? I'll go get my topcoat.

Jill: Are you sure that I won't be horning in?

Kay: Oh, quit whining. You've won. You're going with us.

Arthur: Oh, Jill, would you like me to take those back where I found them?

Kay: Yes, why don't you? Until Jill needs them again.

Lauren: Paul showed up just as Kevin was leaving. He saw Kevin leave the boutique. I was still reeling, and he was wondering why I was so shaken up. I didn't know what to say.

Michael: You might have tried nothing.

Lauren: Michael, I didn't have time to put my poker face on. I tried to cover, but he somehow figured out that Kevin confessed something to me.

Michael: And you told him he was right?!

Lauren: No, but I couldn't lie to him either. Don't you understand?! His antennas are out to here when it comes to Kevin!

Michael: Lauren, Paul is out there-- Sir Paul, righter of wrongs-- in full crusader mode. Good going.

Lauren: Look, I handled it the best I could! He wanted me to go down to the police, and I wouldn't do that. Doesn't that tell you something?

Michael: It tells me he's gonna do all this without your help.

Lauren: Can he do that? I mean, I am the only person that heard Kevinís confession.

Michael: You think Williams is gonna be topped by a minor detail like that? He is probably down at the station now.

Lauren: Oh, my God.

Michael: Which means you've gotta get to the cops before Paul does, or you'll be facing an obstruction of justice charge. Kevin. Why didn't Kevin tell me? Why didn't he tell me?!

Kevin: You'd like that, wouldn't you, if I marched down to the police station and confessed to a bunch of crimes that I didn't commit? You know, there was that bank robbery last week. So while I'm down there, should I confess to that, too?

Paul: You know, I think that the cops may go easier on you if you turn yourself in.

Kevin: Forget it. I didn't confess anything to Lauren, and there's no way the cops will be able to prove otherwise.

Paul: You sure about that?

Kevin: You know, you can go now.

Paul: You know, Kevin, this isn't over, not by a long shot.

Kevin: So you keep saying, as you continue to find no evidence. What's with you anyway, Paul? Don't you know when to quit?

Kevin: Damn it! Damn it, Lauren! How could you?! You promised me!

Victor: You've known this for how long?

Brad: Not as long as you might think. Victor, I understand how you feel. And I can tell you, for the first time, I truly feel sorry for you. For what it's worth, Ash couldn't keep the secret any longer. That's why she's at your home waiting for you. That's what the meeting was about.

Victor: Just a meeting amongst friends where she tells me that I have another child, a child I had no part in conceiving other than providing genetic material.

Brad: Look, I didn't want to be the one to lay this on you. But then you told me what Abby said--

Victor: By the way, how did Abby find out? Has she always known or what?

Brad: I didn't know she was aware. You said that she-- she said she saw Mommy say it on TV?

Victor: Yeah. What do you make of that?

Brad: I haven't a clue.

Victor: Well, I feel sorry for the confusion the little girl must feel now.

Brad: God. How do we ever explain this to her?

Victor: I don't think you can.

Victor: So, Bradley, all this time, you've been raising my child.

Brad: The majority of the time, I didn't know.

Victor: And if you had known, what would you have done?

Brad: I don't know. I do know that I love that little girl, and I have from the moment she was born.

Victor: Yeah, I remember when she was born. I held her in my arms. The nurse mistakenly assumed that I was the father. And I remember Ashley reacting rather strangely, and now I find out that she was my daughter. Have you always conspired to keep this from me, or what?

Brad: No. When I married Ash, I didn't know. She told me the biological father didn't even know, and she didn't want him to.

Victor: Why didn't she come to me? I wasn't committed to anyone at that time. If she wanted a child by me, why the hell didn't she tell me about that? Why did she do this whole thing in such a devious manner?

Brad: I'm sure that Ash will do her best to explain it to you tonight.

Victor: I'm not gonna talk to her.

Brad: Victor, she's at the ranch waiting for you.

Victor: I don't care. I'm gonna send her home.

Brad: Ash is very determined.

Victor: Nothing is what it seems, is it now?

Brad: Look, Ash wanted to be the one to tell you about Abby.

Victor: How good of her after all this time.

Brad: I'm asking you not to tell her you already know. It's very important to Ash. She feels it's somehow significant to maintaining her mental health.

Victor: I've been kept out of the loop, Bradley, for a long time. A lot of issues to resolve right now. I don't want you to tell Ashley that you and I had this conversation, all right? Not until I'm ready.

Brad: How long will that be?

Victor: I don't know. It'll take me some time to assess what all this means.

Brad: It doesn't have to mean anything.

Victor: It changes everything, Bradley.

Brad: No it doesn't, Victor, not really.

Victor: I have to sort things out, answer some questions now that I know.

Brad: What are you saying?

Victor: Not a word about this conversation to Ashley, all right?

Brad: I can't make that promise.

Victor: I have been manipulated and lied to all these years. Now I'm in the driver's seat.

Victor: And don't you forget it.

Kay: Do you know, Jill, after all these years, it still boggles my mind.

Jill: What does, Katherine?

Kay: How utterly selfish you are.

Jill: Because I want to spend time with my father?

Kay: But did it have to be tonight, dear? You could see that Arthur and I were prepared to go out.

Jill: I had no way of knowing you had made dinner plans.

Kay: Well, what did you think, we were dressed to go bowling?

Jill: You know, the truth is I was going to do you a favor.

Kay: How on earth would you think that?

Jill: Because you haven't been out socially, have you, since you started drinking again?

Kay: What has that got to do with anything?

Jill: Oh, please. Come on, you must have some idea how loud and obnoxious you get once you've knocked back a few.

Kay: Oh, please. I can hold my liquor.

Jill: Oh, Katherine. Yeah, like a sieve, you can hold it. Come on. You're a really sloppy drunk, and you would have embarrassed yourself in front of that wonderful man.

Kay: Why don't you admit what is really going on here?

Jill: What is really going on?

Kay: This is not about me. This is about you. You cannot stand the thought that I am going out with Arthur.

Jill: Oh, please. That is absurd.

Kay: You are green with envy. You're like that little girl who wants her daddy all to herself.

Jill: So what if I am?! You kept him from me my whole life. Can you blame me for trying to make up for lost time?!

Kay: Oh, Jill, for heaven's sakes.

Arthur: Ladies, ladies. As the young people say, chill.

Jill: Fine.

Kay: Fine.

Arthur: So are we going to the Colonnade room, or aren't we?

Kay: Not if she's going.

Jill: Well, ditto for you, Mother.

Arthur: All right, then. I'm going to make a ruling. We are all going to stay here and eat. I'll even do the cooking.

Kay: But, Arthur, that--

Jill: Dad, this is--

Arthur: Ah, ah, ah, ah. Everyone knows you don't argue with a judge, or I might hold you both in contempt of court and banish you to your rooms.

Kay: Arthur, dear, I do appreciate you trying to keep the peace, but here the cupboards are bare.

Arthur: Oh, not to worry, Katherine. I'll scrounge up something. I'm very resourceful, you know. But please, please, both of you just relax, please? All right, leave everything to me. Just relax, have a good time.

Jill: Now look what you've done.

Kay: Me?

Lauren: You're telling me to turn in your brother?

Michael: I'm warning you what could happen if you donít.

Lauren: I canít. I can't go to the police.

Michael: Lauren, you've got to do this.

Lauren: No! I promised him. I took an oath. I can't even believe that i allowed paul to figure it out.

Michael: You might change your mind when you're sitting in front of a grand jury.

Lauren: Well, we better pray that doesn't happen.

Michael: It amazes me that you still want to protect him knowing what you know.

Lauren: I don't understand it myself. I realize that he is a criminal who has hurt many people badly, and he might even do it again. But when I look at him, I see this scared, hurt little boy who needs help and... I don't know what to do.

Michael: Tell me about it. Life was so much simpler before Kevin came into town. Sometimes I wish I could just turn my back and walk and just keep on walking.

Lauren: No, you canít. He needs you.

Michael: Yeah, yeah, I know. He's just a great big pit of need.

Michael: Oh. Well... I guess I better go try and find him.

Lauren: What are you gonna say to him?

Michael: I don't know. Maybe we'll figure out what to do next. But if you see Paul galloping around in his white hat, you tell him to back off. I will handle Kevin. I will make sure he doesn't hurt anyone else, and I will do it right. Paul is so incredibly heavy-handed. Who knows how badly he'll screw things up?

Kevin: Having a brother... having some hope...

Kevin: It was great while it lasted.

Kevin: Oh, well. (Door slams)

Ashley: Hi.

Brad: What are you doing here? I thought you would be at Newmanís.

Ashley: There's been a change of plan.

Brad: Meaning what? Don't tell me you changed your mind about telling Newman to--

Ashley: No, but I had to make other arrangements.

Brad: I don't get it. You were hell bent on--

Ashley: Nikki begged me to let her be the one to tell him, and I agreed.

Brad: Nikki? Nikki's going to tell Victor about Abby?

Ashley: Yeah. Why? I kind of thought that you'd feel that was a good idea.

Brad: I don't know what's a good idea anymore. I just know that things are spinning out of control.

Ashley: What are you talking about, spinning out of control? What's wrong? Because Nikkiís telling Victor about Abby? Why do you find that so disconcerting?

Ashley: You're very frightened.

Nikki: Do you blame me?

Ashley: Don't you know how much Victor loves you?

Nikki: I am very confident of his love.

Ashley: After everything the two of you have been through...

Nikki: Just one more little test, huh? The fact that he shares a child with you, that shouldn't be too hard to get past, no.

Ashley: Nikki, I have to reiterate, I am not doing this to hurt you.

Nikki: I always knew this day would come. >From the minute I heard that he was the biological father of your child, I knew there would be a day of reckoning, and it's here.

(Door opens and closes)

Victor: Where's Ashley?

Nikki: There's been a change. She's not coming.

Victor: Good.

Nikki: Victor, I need to talk to you about something.

Victor: I don't want to discuss anything. I'm not in the mood to talk about a damn thing.

Nikki: Victor, please.

Victor: No.

Nikki: Please wait! This thing with Ashley, I didn't want to leave it in her hands.

Victor: You didn't want to leave what in her hands?

Nikki: The meeting. There's been a change. You're going to have it with me.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Woman: Hello.

Kevin: Hi, Mom.

Jill: Ah! Oh, my scarf! Fire, Katherine!

Victor: What I don't need is any more delusions, deceptions and lies. I've had enough of that to last me a lifetime!
