Nikki: Oh, there you are.

Victor: Hi, sweetheart.

Nikki: Hi.

Victor: By looking at this, I'm amazed that Sharon wasn't hurt worse than she was.

Nikki: Yes, she was very lucky. The glass people are coming out later.

Victor: So what happened?

Nikki: She didn't tell you?

Victor: No, she told me that she was watering plants, she slipped and then fell through the window.

Nikki: Well, she obviously fell very hard.

Victor: But that looks more dramatic than what she told me. She has been upset lately, and I heard that you have been very nice with her.

Nikki: Well, you know I would do anything to keep this family together. I'm just holding her hand during a difficult time.

Victor: Is there anything I can do?

Nikki: No, darling, really there isnít. Actually, I'm more worried about something else right now.

Victor: What else are you worried about now?

Nikki: Well, the meeting at Jabot today. We're going to be on opposite sides of the table.

Victor: Well, that's, you know, its business. It's not personal.

Nikki: Well, to me, it is personal, knowing that the survival of my company and my career could depend on what's decided today.

Brittany: You want to tell me a story?

Rose: (Speech impediment) I promise it won't take long.

Brittany: Is this story about you?

Rose: Hmm, it's about a friend of mine with a disability.

Brittany: I'm listening.

Rose: Well, my friend was always being told she couldn't do things. Enough people said it, and she started to believe it. And eventually, she gave up.

Brittany: Until one day when she realized that life's too short to worry about what other people think. So you went out and grabbed the world by the horns and never looked back, right?

Rose: What?

Brittany: Well, obviously, you're talking about yourself. Let me guess. You're, like, some big, successful person, right?

Rose: Well, you are right. I was talking about myself but, um... the successful part couldn't be further from the truth. Oh, I used to have a lot of dreams, a lot of dreams, but they never came true.

Shiloh: So never been to L.A., Huh?

J.T.: No. First thing I want to do is head to the beach and stick my toe in the Pacific just to say I did it.

Shiloh: Well, you might have time for that next trip. This one's booked solid.

J.T.: Really? You said I had to sing for a few people, but what else?

Shiloh: You're kidding, of course. Okay, we'll go over this step by step. We land at L.A.X., We go straight to the office in Westwood. There you will meet the honchos of Beachfront Records up close and personal.

J.T.: Wow, that's cool. What else is on the menu?

Shiloh: A quick styling and photo session, so we have some pictures of you on file so when the music press asks who we're interested in, we can upload a few sexy jpegs tout de suite.

J.T.: (Laughs nervously)

Shiloh: What? Are you camera shy or something?

J.T.: No, no. At least I don't think so. It'll be fine. No, I can handle anything. Colleen will be there with me.

Olivia: Jack, I got here as fast as I could.

Jack: Oh, thanks, Liv. It's about Ashley.

Olivia: I thought she was fine.

Jack: Well, I don't think my sister's been altogether forthcoming with you.

Olivia: Are you positive? 'Cause Brad seems to think--

Jack: Oh, forget Brad. Brad has no objectivity at all. I'm worried. Ever since my sister's miraculous recovery, she has been impossible to deal with. I don't know if this is some kind of medical symptom or what, but she seems to have no regard for anyone else, and I'm concerned. It is not like her to shut people out like this.

Olivia: Look, I have no idea what you're getting at.

Jack: She is making decisions she has no business making.

Olivia: Such as?

Jack: I have never seen her this hard-nosed in business. She won't listen to reason, even when the future of Jabot is at stake, and worse-- and this is a biggie-- she seems determined to tell Victor Newman about Abby. Now you and I both know that's the biggest mistake she could possibly make.

Ashley: So I decided to have a child on my own. And I was gonna raise that child as a single parent. And, Abby, I have never doubted that decision, not for one single second. You are the light of my life, sweetie. The one thing I'm having a little trouble with is... I never told your biological father the truth that you are his child. And see, I decided from the very beginning that I didn't want to do that because I didn't want to make him feel responsible. But I also believed that if the day ever came that you wanted to know, of course I would tell you. Things have changed in my life. And I'm not sure I'm gonna be around when you're old enough to understand all this. And if something happens to me, there is no one else to tell you the truth. So I've got to get my house in order, don't you think? And I want you to know that whatever you want to do with this information, it's just completely up to you. You will always have a wonderful father in Brad. He has been and always will be everything you could ever want in a loving dad. But for all sorts of possible reasons, I mean, you may want or even need to know whose blood flows through your veins. God help me. I hope I'm making the right decision in telling you, sweetie.

Ashley: Your father-- your biological father-- is Victor Newman.

Victor: Sweetheart, you know that I regret that you got hurt in this. But I warned you not to invest $35 million in this loser's company.

Nikki: Are you trying to prepare me for something that's going to happen at the meeting today?

Victor: I'm just trying to tell you that I have to do what's best for Newman enterprises. I cannot take in consideration that you have a position with Jabot.

Nikki: I understand that. I wouldn't expect you to, just as I have to do what's best for Jabot.

Brittany: What kind of dreams did you have?

Rose: Typical stuff-- you know, go to college, start a career, have a family.

Brittany: So why didn't you go after it?

Rose: Because people always told me not to bother, so I didnít.

Brittany: Well, I don't mean to be rude, but that's pretty stupid.

Rose: I know that now. But when I was younger, I spent so much time feeling sorry for myself, I let opportunities just pass me by.

Brittany: Well, it's never too late.

Rose: You're right, it isnít. That's why now I'm going to night school, and I'm dating this really great guy. Things are going really well for me now.

Brittany: That's fantastic.

Rose: Well, my one regret is that it took me so long to see that my disability wasn't holding me back. I was holding myself back.

Brittany: Well, it sounds like you learned a very good lesson.

Rose: You still haven't told me your story.

Brittany: I don't really have one.

Rose: Sure you do. Everyone has a story. What's your dream, Brittany?

Frances: There you are, Abby. I found your mittens. Come over here. We'll put them on, and then we can go back to the park.

Abby: Thanks, Frances, for finding my mittens.

Frances: You're welcome.

Colleen: Oh, I'm so glad I caught you guys.

Frances: Colleen, hello. You're home early.

Colleen: Yeah, it was a half-day at school today. I was wondering if Abby might want to hang out with me. Maybe Gina can make us some ice cream sodas.

Abby: Chocolate?

Colleen: Yeah, any kind you want. Is that okay, Frances?

Frances: Of course, as long as you bundle up.

Colleen: Yeah, it's cold outside. Well, I see your mittens. Let's go find your scarf, okay? Thanks. Here it is.

Shiloh: Listen, J.T., A business trip is just that. It's not about fun. You maximize the energy, minimize the waste, get a lot done.

J.T.: All work, no play, huh?

Shiloh: Something like that. Look, you'll have plenty of time to relax when you get back to Genoa City.

J.T.: Oh, wow. And to think, I signed up for this for the girls and the parties. I'm kidding. I'm kidding, okay? What else are we doing?

Shiloh: Okay. Next you're gonna meet with a couple of our songwriters; let them hear your voice, get a feel for your delivery, your vocal range.

J.T.: So they're gonna write some songs for me?

Shiloh: Not for you, with you.

J.T.: Hey, that's cool.

Shiloh: Yeah. It should be a great experience for everyone involved.

J.T.: Oh, speaking of that, there's one little detail. Colleen and I are gonna need our own rooms at the hotel.

Shiloh: Really?

J.T.: Yeah, separate ones.

Shiloh: I thought you two were, uh...

J.T.: No, no, we're waiting.

Shiloh: Well, that's your business, but, J.T., this particular trip to L.A.--

J.T.: Yeah?

Shiloh: Colleen should not come with you.

Brittany: You want to know my dream?

Rose: Yeah, I do.

Brittany: To be up on stage, singing in front of a crowd. That's what I was doing before...

Rose: You haven't performed since you've been hurt?

Brittany: I canít.

Rose: What, your injury affected your voice?

Brittany: It's more complicated than that. The club where I was singing... well, let's just say that looks were important, very important.

Rose: So find someplace else to perform.

Brittany: I don't know.

Rose: Well, then go back to the place where you were singing and prove to them that you're as good as you always were, maybe even better.

Brittany: But what if it doesn't work out?

Rose: So? At least you know you tried. Brittany, don't be like I used to be. Don't let life pass you by because you're afraid.

Brittany: It was really good talking to you, Rose.

Rose: Somewhere you just remembered you have to be?

Brittany: Yeah. Yeah, I think there is.

Olivia: Jack, I'm really not comfortable talking to you about this. As Ashleyís doctor--

Jack: I understand. You can't say anything. But as her friend--

Olivia: As her friend, I'm not gonna betray her confidence. You're putting me in an impossible position.

Jack: Olivia, listen to me. I know you want what's best for Ashley. We all do. But to reveal to Victor that they share a child...

Olivia: It's her decision.

Jack: So opening this up to victor after everything he put her through doesn't bother you at all?

Olivia: Clearly not as much as it bothers you. I think that's really the question here, is it what's best for Ashley, or is it your vendetta against Victor Newman? Because if it is, I'm telling you right now, as her friend and doctor, leave her out of it.

Brad: Ash! Ash?

Ashley: Hi. What are you doing here?

Brad: I thought we should talk before the meeting.

Ashley: Oh, good. You got my message.

Brad: Not before jack told me.

Ashley: Uh-oh, here it comes.

Brad: What?

Ashley: Nothing. I just bet you got an earful.

Brad: You bet right.

Ashley: Hmm, why doesn't that surprise me?

Brad: You two really are staking out corners, aren't you?

Ashley: I bet Jack did whatever he could to get you on his side.

Brad: I make my own decisions, Ash.

Ashley: Oh, I know you do, darling. I wasn't saying anything like that.

Brad: You want to know whose side I'm on, and that's what disturbs me, that we're choosing sides at all.

Ashley: You don't want Victor to get the impression that our board is divided in any way.

Brad: That's only one of my concerns.

Ashley: Honey, I agree with you. This is not ideal, but unless you can convince jack to sit this one out--

Brad: Ash, the point I'm trying to make is that I think we should cancel the meeting.

Nikki: I appreciate your calling in about this, Roger, but I'm afraid we don't have any answers for you right now. Our financial situation is just too precarious. I might know something later today. It's possible. Yes, all right. Keep me posted.

Victor: Your flowers arrived, my darling, as I promised they would.

Nikki: So sweet.

Nikki: Beautiful, as always. Thank you.

Victor: Beautiful roses for my beautiful woman.

Nikki: It's been a wonderful gift. They reminded of what we share every day.

Victor: Let's hope we don't need to be reminded every day, though.

Nikki: It's been a very trying time, and I'm really hoping that that will end at the meeting this afternoon.

Victor: That depends.

Nikki: Well, I know. I'm just asking that you'll come in with a cooperative attitude.

Victor: Well, I intend to. I don't want to fight.

Nikki: I know. I know you donít.

Victor: That doesn't mean there won't be one.

Nikki: Well, Jack is not happy about settling out of court.

Victor: I am sure he isnít. I'm sure he was hoping that the court would bleed me dry.

Nikki: I know I can't really say very much, but I will say that he doesn't have the support of the Jabot board.

Victor: Well, for all of our sakes, let's hope that we will come to some equitable agreement.

Nikki: Yes, that would mean so much to me.

Victor: Now, darling, can I ask you something?

Nikki: Sure.

Victor: Whatever happens in that boardroom, whatever angry words, whatever acrimony, let's leave it behind in that boardroom. Let's not take it home. You and I cannot take any more arguments, any more disagreements. We have been through too much.

Nikki: Victor, the way you're talking, it sounds...

Victor: Shh, shh. Will you promise me, please?

Nikki: Will you promise me?

Ashley: Cancel the meeting?

Brad: Until you and your brother can put a lid on things.

Ashley: The board voted 5 to 1 to pursue a settlement as soon as possible. Now Victor is amenable. We're not gonna cancel this meeting, Brad, just because Jack doesn't like it.

Brad: Ash, they way you and your brother are talking, things could blow up. Now none of us wants that, not when we're entering into a crucial negotiation with someone as unpredictable as Newman.

Ashley: It shouldn't be a negotiation. Victor wants to write a check and be done with it. You're lecturing the wrong person here.

Brad: Lecturing? I'm trying to avoid a disaster.

Ashley: Well, then I suggest you go to Jack and convince him to sit this one out, because I'll tell you something, I'm not gonna kowtow to his petty jealousies. I am so sick of his attitude, and so is the rest of the board, including you, I thought, unless I'm wrong about that.

Brad: You want to start with me now?

Ashley: I'm not starting with anybody. I just want to go to this meeting at 2:00, and I want to walk out with a check for $75 million, no later than 2:15, preferably. Now if there's nothing else...

Brad: Well, as a matter of fact, there is.

Ashley: What?

Brad: The other matter that's going to be sitting on that boardroom table between you and Jack.

Ashley: I assume you're talking about Abby. I made it perfectly clear to Jack that he has no say in my going to Victor.

Brad: Do I have a say?

Ashley: Oh, honey, please. This is the last thing we should be talking about one hour before our meeting.

Brad: Ash, you don't think it's inappropriate? You're going to be sitting down with Victor to discuss this issue, when in a couple of days you're going to be telling him that the two of you share a child? Don't you think that may factor in to the negotiation?

Ashley: Are you saying that I'm going to compromise what's best for our company? Is that what you're suggesting?

Brad: I'm suggesting that you and Jack take the afternoon off. Let cooler heads prevail with Newman.

Ashley: Not only is that ridiculous, but I find it somewhat insulting. I set up this meeting, and I damn well plan on being there. I fully anticipate things to go smoothly. Now we can take one car, or I can meet you there, your choice.

Brad: Let's go.

Jack: You know telling Victor only opens my sister up to a whole world of hurt.

Olivia: That's your opinion. It's my medical opinion that it could be what's best for her.

Jack: Well, you'll forgive me. Your medical opinion isn't worth a hill of beans. Ashley just recovered from a major psychological trauma.

Olivia: Yes, one directly connected to that fact that she's been hiding the truth from her daughter's father for far too long.

Jack: So you can guarantee me if she spills her guts, it won't send her into another tailspin?

Olivia: Of course I can't, but I believe that she's strong enough to make this decision on her own. Come on, Jack, she needs our support right now. She doesn't need anyone second-guessing her.

Jack: Even if they think she's making a tragic mistake?

Olivia: Even if they have an ax to grind with Victor Newman. Now if you love your sister, you'll understand that she's doing what she believes is best for her. She may be right. She may be wrong. Only time will tell, but it is her decision. And if you try and stop her, you will live to regret it.

J.T.: I already told Colleen she could come to L.A. with me.

Shiloh: Well, I wish you hadnít. This is purely a business trip.

J.T.: But, Shiloh, she's the one who talked me into signing with you, remember?

Shiloh: And I am grateful, believe me, but every minute you're there is booked in advance. You're gonna be going into the studio to lay down some tracks. And, yeah, you'll be working with some great session people, but no one, no one nails it in one take. And that's after arranging and rehearsing the music for who knows how long. We're gonna need every second of time to go in...

J.T.: So she can sit there and watch and listen. Shiloh, she knows this trip's not about her, okay? She won't get in the way. I promise you, it won't be a problem.

Shiloh: J.T., don't do this to me.

J.T.: To you?

Shiloh: Yes, it's a big deal when I bring somebody into town and introduce them around, start building relationships. I can't be turning people onto you and, "oh, this is Colleen." They want to meet my singer, not his mother, his sister, his dog or his cat or his girlfriend. Don't look at me like that. I'm just telling you what I know. We're asking beachfront to put a lot money on the line.

J.T.: Yeah, to develop me, package me and sell me, Shiloh.

Shiloh: Do you have to put it in those terms? Darn it, J.T., what's with the attitude? I'm the pro here, the one with experience. Now if every time I say, "this is how things need to be done," I get an argument from you, well, maybe we need to rethink this whole deal.

(Piano music playing)

Brittany: Maybe this time I'll be lucky maybe this time he'll stay maybe this time for the first time love won't hurry away he will hold me fast I'll be home at last not a loser anymore like the last time and the time before everybody loves a winner so nobody loved me lady peaceful lady happy that's what I long to be all the odds are in my favor something's bound to begin it's gonna happen happen sometime maybe this time I'll win it's gotta happen happen sometime maybe this time I'll win.

Brad: You'll get back to me on Thursday? No, Wednesday is the deadline. It's not negotiable. That's it.

Jill: That's great, Elsiann. Great, all right, tell them I'll call them back as soon as we're finished here.

John: Well, I'm glad you're all here. I want to have a few words with everyone.

Nikki: Shouldn't we wait for Jack?

Jill: Do we even know if he's coming?

Ashley: It might be just as well if he doesnít.

John: Well, I'd like him to hear this.

Brad: Whatever you want to say, do it now. Newman's usually punctual.

John: All right, here it is. Now Victor has offered us $75 million. I want this meeting to be quick, simple and to the point. We will accept the offer.

Jill: I hope we're also confident that we're not being too hasty here.

John: Now, Jill, you did a fine job in lowering our lead costs in Atlanta, but this gives us an opportunity to recoup some of the major losses in the Tuvia rollout and get our company healthy again.

Ashley: So everyone that's here, we're still in agreement? We will accept Victor's offer. Say "aye," please.

Brad: Aye.

Jill: Aye.

Nikki: Aye.

John: All right, fine. I've had the paperwork drawn up. All we need is Victor's signature.

Nikki: So that's it, just that simple?

Ashley: Just that simple.

Victor: Hello, everyone, John.

John: Victor.

Victor: I hope this won't take too long.

Angelo: Marilyn, I didn't know you were out here.

Brittany: Hi, Angelo.

Angelo: So let's have a look.

Angelo: Come on. Hey, I'll bet you it's not that bad.

Brittany: Yeah, well, you'd lose. But, hey, there are people out there who have it worse than I do.

Angelo: Good attitude. Look, you're still a looker, if you ask me.

Brittany: Thanks. Listen, um, I know some people think you had something to do with my accident, gave you a pretty hard time.

Angelo: Nah, nah that was over before it started. Look, you know, I would never hurt a woman. Bobby knows that.

Brittany: Things were a lot easier for you before I started working here, weren't they?

Angelo: Well, maybe a little. I'll tell you one thing, you were good for business, that I give you. But, you know, your old man, what a wacko. Hey, look, I gotta... I gotta get the place ready to open, okay?

Brittany: Okay, sure. Is Bobby in his office?

Angelo: No, no, he stepped out for a little while to get some stuff.

Brittany: Oh, that's too bad. Will he be back soon? I'll wait.

Angelo: Hey, look, uh, look, I'm gonna be straight with you, okay? You shouldn't be coming around here. It's not good for you. It ain't good for anybody.

John: Thank you for meeting with us, Victor.

Brad: Glad you could make it on such short notice.

Ashley: I'm sure you have some idea of why we wanted to talk with you.

Victor: You would like to proceed with an out-of-court settlement.

Jill: Absolutely.

John: I think that would be best for all parties concerned.

Victor: Jack isn't here. Why is that?

Ashley: He knew what time this meeting was scheduled, victor. If he isn't here, so be it.

John: Now, Victor, I've taken the opportunity of drawing up some papers.

Victor: Specifying what exactly, John?

John: That we will accept your $75 million offer.

Ashley: And of course, waive the right to any further civil action against you.

Nikki: It's really a very good agreement for everyone.

Brad: I'm sure you can see that, Victor.

Victor: In other words, you would like me to just sign on the dotted line, is that it?

John: Yes, I was hoping that's how we could proceed.

Ashley: I don't think any of us sees the point in this dragging on.

Brad: You're obviously aware of the real and punitive damages you could be facing if we take this into court.

Victor: And you must be aware that you take a chance if we go to court. I may end up paying far less than $75 million.

John: Now, please, Victor, we both know that's highly unlikely in this day and age.

Jill: You'll have a hard time finding a sympathetic jury.

Brad: Particularly since you've admitted your own guilt.

Ashley: And, Victor, this way you could feel that you've paid your debt in full.

Jack: Well, it wouldn't be paid in full. More like pennies on the dollar.

John: You're late.

Jack: Yeah, sorry, Dad, I got hung up. Well, I'm here now. We can get started.

Ashley: We already started, Jack.

Jack: Without the C.E.O.?

John: Yes, as chairman of the board, I've explained to Victor that I've had these papers drawn up, and all they need is a signature.

Jack: Well, not exactly the same as getting away with murder, but damn close.

Ashley: Jack, please.

J.T.: Shiloh, look, I know you're the one with all the experience and everything, but Colleen's really excited about going to L.A. She's as much a part of this whole thing as anyone. She's the reason you heard me sing. She's the reason that I signed with you.

Shiloh: Fine, fine, but does a baseball scout go out on the field and play during the day?

J.T.: That's not the same thing. Colleen's part of the team.

Shiloh: But she doesn't travel with you this time.

J.T.: Oh, come on, don't do this to me.

Gina: Every time I see this darling little girl, I can't believe how much she's grown.

Abby: I'm 6!

Gina: 6? Well, I just can't believe how fast time flies. And you know what? You are so pretty.

Abby: Thank you, Gina.

Gina: She's got a lot of manners, too.

Colleen: I know.

Gina: Listen, I noticed that you saw J.T., so why don't you check the coats? And I will take Abby back to the kitchen, and let's see if we can get some ice cream.

Abby: Ice cream, yes!

Gina: Oh, you got it! Let's go get some ice cream.

Colleen: Thanks, gina.

Gina: You're welcome, honey. I love those boots.

J.T.: Shiloh, she keeps me grounded. I swear, you're gonna be happy she's there.

Shiloh: Look, we are trying to do something that takes a lot of energy and money. We're taking an unpolished talent and making something of it in the lab, in the studio. Yes, we're gonna be booking you at clubs, so you can work on your chops in front of an audience, but let's face it, you haven't been out playing honky-tonks and clubs for ten years. You don't have a name or a following. There's development to be done in several areas. Believe me, if it works, it's a lot easier than going out on the road in some broken-down old bus, and the payoff could be huge. So, please, please, J.T., Can we do this my way?

Colleen: J.T., Are you giving this nice lady a hard time?

Brittany: Did Bobby say he doesn't want me around?

Angelo: Not in so many words. Look, he liked you, kid, I mean, he really did.

Brittany: "Liked," as in past tense?

Angelo: Hey, don't take this personally, okay? Bobby is a practical guy, okay? He's gotta be to be in business. I mean, let's face it, you're not the kind of chick that should be, you know, working in a place like this, I mean, coming from a good family like you d

Brittany: Look, if you're worried about my Dad...

Angelo: Listen, just listen to what I'm saying, okay? The best thing for you, for everybody, would be if you moved on. That's what Bobby's already doing.

Brittany: What does that mean?

Angelo: He already started looking, you know, at other options.

Brittany: You mean another girl?

Angelo: Look, I hate to be the one to tell you.

Brittany: No, it's okay. I needed to hear it, I guess.

Angelo: See you around, kid.

Victor: Did you say something, Jack?

Jill: No, Victor, he didn't, nothing worth repeating.

Jack: Thank you, Jill, I can speak for myself. Yeah, I did say something. Your $75 million offer is peanuts, and you know it.

Victor: You really feel that way, don't you?

John: Victor, Jack does not speak for the majority of the board.

Victor: Then someone better put a muzzle on him.

Ashley: You know, I think we've gotten sidetracked here.

Jack: You're gonna try to railroad this one through, too?

John: Victor, I've had these papers drawn up. I think you'll find them quite straightforward.

Jack: Simply sign on the bottom line. You can laugh all the way to the bank.

Victor: I hardly consider $75 million a laughing matter, Jack.

Jack: You and I both know we'd be collecting a lot more if this went before a jury.

Jill: Jack, will you please just shut up?

Jack: No, I will not shut up. This meeting should not be happening.

Victor: John, I offered $75 million. I think it was more than generous. Your son has decided to turn it down. Therefore the offer is no longer on the table. Jack thinks he can get a better deal through the courts. So be it. I expect to hear from your attorneys.

John: Victor, don't do that. Don't walk out
