Brad: That we make Victor a key part of this.

Nikki: And risk having Ashley blurt out to him that he's Abby’s father? That'll be real therapeutic.

Brad: You may as well know.

Nikki: Know what?

Brad: Both Wes and Olivia agree, if we're going to involve Victor in this, he needs to be told the truth so he isn't blindsided.

Olivia: Victor, your loyalty is commendable.

Victor: You know it's much more than that. Ashley means a great deal to me, and I'm grateful to you for recommending to Brad Carlton that he use my help.

Olivia: He said you discussed the situation.

Victor: I did indeed, with Jack Abbott standing nearby baring his teeth.

Olivia: So I heard.

Victor: Did you also hear what happened during the discussion with Ashley?

Olivia: You spoke to her.

Victor: That's right. The first time she communicated with anyone. She responded to me. I thought it was an extraordinary breakthrough.

Olivia: I think that's fair to say.

Victor: And I suggested that I would come back. That suggestion was met with an icy reception.

Olivia: You can't understand why?

Victor: To be frank with you, not quite. You know the crisis that Ashley is in. You know that she's in deep trouble. If I'm able to elicit a response from her, then don't you think Brad Carlton should put aside his antipathy toward me and just do what's best for his wife?

Sharon: Hey, look, you're making way too much of this, okay?

Michael: Am I?

Sharon: Yes! I spoke to the guy for what, a minute?

Michael: Wait a minute! You spoke... so you talked to this man? He heard your voice?

Sharon: Well, don't say it like that.

Michael: Oh, I'm sorry, Sharon. How do you want me to say it, reassuringly? Shall we pretend that none of this matters?

Sharon: Michael, he thought I was a hooker, okay? And not a very high-class one either, by the way he was trying to pick up on me.

Michael: Oh, all right, so did you let him think that?

Sharon: No, of course not! Why, do you think I should have?

Michael: It woulda helped, yes. He probably saw you a lot better than you realize.

Sharon: Look, he doesn't know my name, and I didn't mention Cameron’s. I just said that I was going up to see a friend. There's no reason to connect me with whatever.

Michael: Look, once the police investigation starts, they'll have plenty of reason to connect you with all these things.

Sharon: Well, they haven't, okay? And no one has even mentioned that Cameron was there. Time has passed. You know, he probably checked d in under some fake name. That was the whole idea, was to be discrete.

Michael: You are living in a fool's paradise if you think you will not be linked to the crime scene. You have a very shaky alibi. You have a witness who saw you, who heard your voice the night Cameron disappeared, probable DNA evidence in the man's motel room.

Sharon: Look, I'm not confessing, all right? I'm not turning myself in. I won’t.

Dru: Neil is not gonna allow Newman to force his hand.

Jack: What makes you think Newman Enterprises isn't gonna want both of those orchids, especially knowing what Neil now knows?

Dru: Because he made a deal with me, and he's not gonna forfeit on his promise!

Jack: Well, he'd better come through for your sake.

Dru: For my sake? What are you talking about?

Jack: You can't keep going off like this half-cocked, Dru, you can’t. We can't afford it! You'd better hope that orchid comes back, or we may find you're more trouble than you're worth.

Dru: Excuse me?

Jack: You took an awful situation, and you made it worse, ten times worse!

Dru: What about Phyllis? She left town with those orchids. She's the one that started it-- your wife!

Jack: Exactly, which is why it would be insane for us to put the future of our company in Phyllis' hands. Neil has no idea if she's gonna give him those orchids. He may have nothing to say about the final outcome.

Dru: Are you trying to tell me that I put my marriage on the line for nothing?

Jack: I am telling you you'd better hope your husband comes through.

Dru: And he will because he is a man of honor, Jack Abbott, and don't you ever forget it!

Neil: Hey, Nick, uh, maybe you didn't hear what I said. I told you that I made a deal with Drucilla.

Nick: Yeah, I heard you, but I didn't sign off on it.

Neil: Don't do this to me, man.

Nick: Look, I appreciate the position you're in given this is your marriage and all, but...

Neil: You know, I really don't think you do. I mean, we were able to get this information directly because of my connection with Drucilla. We can't just renege on our end.

Nick: That's where you're wrong. Look, you set all this up without having all the pieces in place. You didn't know where Phyllis was, when she was coming back. You took a pretty big risk.

Neil: Look how it's gonna pay off. Our R&D guys will get the jump that they've been waiting for.

Nick: That was gonna happen anyway, Neil. We have both orchids now. I think you see where I'm going with this.

Neil: Yeah, I do, exactly, and I don't like it.

Nick: Well, that's too bad. You should have gone through the proper channels.

Neil: Hold up. You know as well as I do there are no channels for this kind of thing. You make the deal when you can, in the heat of the moment.

Nick: Well, it sounds to me like you let the heat of the moment get to you. We don't have to give an inch on this one. We can shut Jabot down on this little project before they get started.

Neil: Are you listening to yourself? Drucilla made this agreement because she thought it was fair, that it was a win-win situation.

Nick: I got a newsflash for you, man. Nothing's win-win. There's always a loser.

Neil: Listen, son, don't educate me on business, all right? You're playing with a stacked deck here. That's what happened with Safra. Do you really want to see Newman Enterprises go down that path again?

Nick: I'm just playing the hand I'm dealt, man.

Neil: We made a deal.

Nick: No, you had a deal.

Neil: Oh, okay, I see how you're gonna play this game then. All right, so then it is my deal, and if that's the case, it's my secret.

Nick: Yeah, it is, and you can do whatever you want with your secret, but if I were you, I would let R&D in on it.

Neil: Oh, really? Is that a threat?

Nick: You know I don't like to make threats, Neil.

Neil: Nicholas Newman, all this preaching about fairness and ethics, I guess that was just a lot of jive talk, wasn't it?

Nick: You're wrong.

Neil: No, I'm not wrong. You know what I see when I look at you? I see a man every inch in his father's image, a man willing to let a little short-term gain get the better of his conscience. Surprise, surprise. Like father, like son.

Liz: Poor Katherine. After 20 years of sobriety...

Jill: I wasn't there when it started. I just found out about it the next morning.

Liz: Well, did the two of you have, like, a big argument or something like that?

Jill: It's never been anything but a big argument, mama. I mean, it's been power plays and games and tests and... did you know that she moved out of her house?

Liz: Katherine left her home?

Jill: Now this was totally her idea. I was caught off guard. The thing is, I really think that she want me to turn her down when she made the offer.

Liz: Oh. So she moved out, and then what?

Jill: I decided to renovate the old place.

Liz: Oh, I see.

Jill: Well, it's not like I didn't have the right. Legally the place was half mine. That was the truth even before we knew that I'm her daughter.

Liz: Well, I'm not saying you didn't have the right. I'm just saying that I can understand why that would cause a peck of trouble. I mean, that house, you know much it means to Mrs. Chancellor. I mean, it says a lot that she wanted you to have time there, but then when you wanted to change everything...

Jill: Mama, whose side are you on?

Liz: I'm not on anybody's side. I'm just saying that I can see a tragedy in the making here.

Jill: Well, I'm not gonna try and deny that, and she won't let me help her. God, life is so ironic. You know, all those years I just hated that woman, and that was simple. And then I find out that she is my biological mother, and all of a sudden I'm supposed to dredge up, what, these feelings of daughterly affection? The strange part is it has changed our relationship, and I cannot explain it.

Liz: Well, of course it has. I mean, you know now her blood flows in your veins.

Jill: Oh, my God, that gives me the chills. I could end up like her. Mama, Mama, how much do you know, really know?

Liz: How much do I know? Oh, Jill, I just found out, girl, when you did, that Katherine’s your birth mother.

Jill: No, no, no. I mean, has Katherine ever talked about the men in her life, in her past?

Liz: Oh, no, dear, she never did.

Jill: So you have no idea?

Liz: Well, I get where you're going with this.

Jill: But you don't know.

Liz: Honey, if you really want to find out, there is one person who ca--

Jill: Katherine would never tell me the truth. I mean, are you forgetting that I was such a deep, dark secret with her, she had to get rid of me?

Liz: The poor woman's life was pretty complicated then.

Jill: I just thought if I could find him, maybe he could help her. Maybe he could help me.

Liz: Jill, how old are you? It's been a lot of years. Chances are, that man put Katherine Chancellor out of his mind years ago if he isn't dead.

Jill: Yeah, chances are.

Jill: I never appreciated how simple our life was before. How I wish we could go back to that.

Liz: So do I, daughter, oh, so do I.

Kay: Arthur, I still don't quite understand why...

Arthur: What I'm doing in your home?

Kay: Oh, my heavens, I mean, you're more than welcome. It's just something I never expected.

Arthur: Well, perhaps I had you at a disadvantage there, because I always knew I was going to see you again.

Kay: Yes, but I never knew. I never realized...

Arthur: You were a married woman. Gary Reynolds and I had been friends, so when he was returning from Europe, I moved elsewhere, I left. Then I got married, and I made a life, but I thought often of the road not taken.

Kay: But you and Eleanor, surely you had a family.

Arthur: A son. Unfortunately, there was a terrible rift, and he left. I've had no contact with him in many years, couldn't even tell him of his mother's death. The truth is, I don't know if he's alive.

Kay: I'm sorry.

Arthur: You know, it's a great sadness in my life that I have no children to share my old age. I'm very much a man alone, Katherine, as I sense that you're a woman alone.

Michael: Sharon, if you want to live in denial, be my guest, but until you're willing to start listening to me, you can just find yourself another lawyer.

Sharon: Michael--

Michael: I have my own problems. I don't need this. I don't want to waste my time being an expensive pair of shoulders for you to cry on and not listen to.

Sharon: Michael, please, don't do that to me, please. I need you. Can't you see how terrified I am here? Please, don't abandon me.

Michael: I understand. I understand you're frightened. You damn well should be. The walls could be closing in on you, but if you continue to ignore that fact, all the sage advice in the world, it's not gonna do you any good. You've got to let me come with you to the authorities. Tell them that that man was trying to rape you, that he died by accident.

Sharon: I can’t.

Michael: Sharon, you've got to tell the truth now. Once the snow melts and they find that body behind that motel dumpster, the body of a very prominent businessman whose death will make headlines all around the world... is any of this getting to you, Sharon? Look, Detective Weber’s gonna start doing what he does. He's gonna talk to that motel clerk, and that motel clerk is gonna cough up everything he remembers about that night. He's gonna talk about the high-class guy who checked in, didn't check out, the mysterious woman who was "visiting" the rooms. Hank is gonna start putting all the pieces together, and you know where they're gonna point to? You'll have blown all credibility on your self-defense angle. It's not gonna be good.

Sharon: I can't! Michael, Nicholas can't find out. I can't lose my family again. Please, don't ask me to.

Michael: All right. All right, you know, uh, Sharon... I'll say this one more time. You... you've got to go to the authorities and tell them the truth. It's your decision.

Olivia: This is not a simple decision for Brad.

Victor what is so complicated?

Olivia: Victor...

Victor: Olivia, when a life is at stake, you put aside all suspicions, all bad blood. What is he worried about, that I'm after his wife? That's ridiculous. I'm wanting to help.

Olivia: He's weighing his options. He's making sure there are no potential repercussions to his family.

Victor: What, repercussions of my helping in her recovery?

Olivia: Of you being anywhere near his wife.

Victor: Why do I get the feeling you're holding something back from me?

Olivia: I'm not.

Victor: But why would there be any repercussions? Are you worried that Brad Carlton won't be able to control himself? Or that I won't? That's nonsense. So why is he so torn about this?

Olivia: I understand your frustrations. We're all trying to help Ashley.

Victor: You're holding something back from me, Olivia. What is it?

Olivia: I'm sorry. I have to get back to the hospital. I promised a colleague I'd cover for him.

Victor: All right. Nice having this chat with you.

Olivia: Nice seeing you.

Nikki: Oh, no. No, we are not telling Victor that he is Abby’s father. No!

Brad: I told Wes and Olivia you'd respond this way.

Nikki: Oh, you did? That's good. So, what, I'm the bad guy? I'm the selfish one?

Brad: I didn't say that, Nikki. You think for one moment I like this? Just thinking about it rips my guts out.

Nikki: Well, then just tell them no, you won't permit it.

Brad: These last few months have been almost unbearable... watching my wife slip away again. There's nothing I can do about it, nothing anyone can do except Victor Newman.

Nikki: And you're willing to risk everything? Everything, Brad?

Brad: If it's the only way I can bring my wife back.

Nikki: Just to lose her again? And then I lose Victor? Are you crazy?

Brad: Now you are sounding selfish.

Nikki: I don't care! This is my life, too, you know? And I am not gonna let you throw it away. For what? For the off chance that you might get Ashley out of her shell for a little while? We don't know if that's gonna work. The whole thing could backfire. You tell Victor a secret like this, he and Ashley are gonna confront each other, and all those emotions are gonna come flooding right back. We have no idea what will happen. It could push her over the edge again, more than she is now!

Brad: All right, enough! Enough. You're not saying anything I haven't thought about a hundred times already.

Nikki: Well, then listen to your instincts, Brad, and you tell these doctors and everybody else that Victor is off limits. Do it now!

Ashley: Why are you arguing about Victor?

Kay: Oh, Arthur, Arthur, a woman alone...

Arthur: With her friend the bottle.

Kay: Oh, no, this bottle is not my friend. That much I do know.

Arthur: Yet somehow it's taking control. Could I help, Katherine?

Kay: Help with what?

Arthur: Regaining control of your destiny, which you said you've lost.

Kay: Oh, my God. If I ever thought in my wildest dreams that you would ever be standing here in this room again...

Arthur: God, we were young then, weren't we? Young and foolish.

Kay: Young and, um, careless.

Arthur: I beg your pardon?

Kay: Oh, Arthur, there's so much you don't know about me.

Arthur: I don't care about that.

Kay: Perhaps not, but there's something you should know and something you would be interested in, something you certainly deserve to know. (Door opens and closes)

Arthur: Are you expecting anyone?

Kay: Her timing is terrible. Ah, hello, Jill.

Jill: Oh, you have company. I'm sorry.

Kay: Oh, Arthur Hendricks.

Jill: Um, I'm Jill Abbott.

Arthur: How do you do?

Jill: Katherine, you have a guest. I'll just be upstairs.

Arthur: Oh, no, that's all right, Ms. Abbott. I need to be on my way. It was lovely seeing you, Katherine. You take care of yourself, all right?

Kay: Like wise.

Arthur: I'll show myself out.

Jill: What a charming man. Who is he, Mother?
