(Rings doorbell)

Kay: You...

Man: Katherine. Katherine Chancellor.

Kay: Dear God in heaven, Arthur Hendricks.

Arthur: You know who I am? You recognize me?

Kay: Well, yes, your picture was in the paper, what, a couple of weeks ago.

Arthur: Not for, uh, not for something scandalous, I hope.

Kay: Oh, hardly, judge.

Arthur: May I come in?

Kay: Oh, yeah. Oh, dear God in heaven, where are my manners? Please, please, come in before we both freeze to death. Come in, please. Just watch your step there. You can get killed with all of that debris.

Arthur: Oh, you're remodeling.

Kay: Yes, well, it's a rather ill-advised project, I fear.

Arthur: Well, I'm sure it will be lovely when you're finished.

Kay: Well, I think it's quite lovely now.

Arthur: It's funny, isn't it? Sometimes you start to make a change, and then you realize you were better off before. You're staring at me.

Kay: Oh, forgive me. I'm just totally thunder-- I'm totally thunderstruck that you are here.

Arthur: Well, of course you are. Frankly, Katherine, it's a visit that I promised myself that I would make for some years now. It's so good to see you again.

Vanessa: Wait a minute. Hold on a second. I want to make sure that I'm not hallucinating here, and I sincerely hope that I'm not.

Damon: You didn't really tell Neil?

Dru: Oh, I sure did-- everything. It was the only way I could get him to bring back the orchids, at least one of them.

Vanessa: Oh, yeah, if Neil decides to help us out, and if he actually talks to Phyllis, and if she...

Damon: That's quite a few ifs.

Dru: You got a little laryngitis there, sweetheart?

Vanessa: Oh, don't change the subject.

Dru: Okay, okay, if my strategy works, we get to save jabot.

Damon: Oh, look, there's another if. Drucilla, do you realize you've totally blown any advantage we ever had over Newman?

Dru: Oh, some advantage-- sitting around, twiddling our thumbs, doing nothing because we don't have orchids. Well, I fixed that.

Vanessa: Oh, yeah, you fixed it, all right. You fixed it real good.

(Doorbell rings)

Michael: A... could this day... could it possibly get any worse?

Sharon: You think you're the only one who has problems?

Michael: No, no, far from it. What's the latest on your little headache?

Sharon: Well, I survived the interview with Detective Weber.

Michael: Weber, Weber. Boy...

Sharon: What? Why do you say it like that?

Michael: He's handling Cameron’s disappearance?

Sharon: Yeah, well, it's not an official investigation, because Cameron hasn't been missing that long yet.

Michael: We both know he won't be turning up, will he? At least not until the snow melts, the weather gets warmer. Then he'll present a very fragrant discovery at that motel dumpster, won't he?

Sharon: Stop it, will you?

Michael: Haven't you been following the forecast? It's just a matter of days. That arctic front's on its way out of here, and that means you'd better be doing some serious thinking, lady.

Sharon: About what? Turning myself in and admitting that I killed him in self-defense? I won't do it, Michael, I won’t.

Nick: Dad.

Victor: Son.

Victor: Anything new on the Cameron Kirsten deal?

Nick: No, he's still missing.

Victor: Something wrong or what?

Nick: Yeah, Dad, there is. Ashley. I mean, what's with you and that woman? How long you gonna keep messing with her life?

Brad: No way, Wes.

Wes: Brad, is there any--

Brad: I will not tell Victor the truth about Abby.

Olivia: Okay, take it easy.

Brad: Forget it. It ain't gonna happen.

Wes: If we are going to involve Victor in Ashley’s recovery, to me, it is unavoidable.

Brad: Well, that's damn easy for you to say, isn't it?

Wes: None of this is easy or guaranteed. Let's get that clear right up front.

Olivia: The only way to approach this with any degree of safety for everyone involved is to make sure that no one's blindsided, especially Victor.

Brad: Oh, so now we're protecting the S.O.B.?

Olivia: No, protecting you, your family, Ashley. Come on, Brad, it's the only way.

Nikki: So no word from Phyllis, huh?

Jack: Not a peep.

Nikki: She can't stay away forever.

Jack: Yeah, don't count on it. My wife can hold a hell of a grudge when she's really ticked off.

Nikki: Have you tried to find out where she is?

Jack: Oh, hell, I don't even know where to start. Neil's claiming ignorance. I guess I'm just hoping she'll have a sudden case of guilt and come home with the damn orchid. Hey, what's with you, anyway? You seem, I don't know, preoccupied.

Nikki: Jack, you and I have to have a talk about something or rather someone. Your sister Ashley.

Bobby: (Sighs)

Jill: Paperwork getting you down?

Bobby: You don't even know, Jill. Are you familiar with this form 941?

Jill: What, quarterly federal estimate’s? Sure. I mean, somebody does them for me, and I look them over, but it's pretty quick. I trust her.

Bobby: How many employees do you have?

Jill: Not me individually, but my part of the company-- I don't know--200, 250.

Bobby: 250? You know what; I'll just stick with my 11 full-time, 2 part-time.

Jill: You know, I can't stay long. I've got to get to the office. I just came to see how you are.

Bobby: You know, it's occurred to me that you still haven't been here at night when we're open.

Jill: No, I haven’t.

Bobby: You've gotta come down. This place, once we get the music going and the girls are up-- full, packed-- it just comes alive like this big, sexy animal. It's got a heartbeat all its own.

Jill: Wow, you really love it, don't you?

Bobby: Yeah, I do. Unfortunately, someone's trying to take this away from me, and I bet you know who he is.

Jill: I know somebody who's trying to harm you?

Bobby: Frederick Hodges, Brittany’s father.

Kay: Uh-oh, uh-oh.

Arthur: Oh, let me, let me. Whoop, whoop, whoop.

Kay: Thank you, thank you. Oh...

Arthur: Wow, this is heavy.

Kay: Yes, it is. I, uh, usually have a maid who does this kind of thing, but I think she got lost in the debris. How, uh... how do you like your tea?

Arthur: Two sugars and lemon, if you have it and you do.

Kay: Yes, yes, yes.

Arthur: I never got used to those artificial sweeteners, although I know that sugar is a vice in this day and age, huh?

Kay: Well, I'm sure you'll be forgiven.

Kay: Arthur, I really do apologize for this disaster.

Arthur: Oh, no problem, no problem, though I have to say that what I find curious is why anyone would want to take a sledgehammer to this elegant old room.

Kay: Yes, well, I've asked myself the same question.

Arthur: Ah, so the project is on hold.

Kay: For the moment, yes. Exactly, for the moment.

Arthur: Well, I don't think anything's been done here that can't be undone.

Kay: Well, I'm not so sure about that. Arthur... what on earth has brought you back to Genoa City?

Arthur: I thought I told you, Katherine. You.

Michael: It's your funeral.

Sharon: Thank you, Michael.

Michael: Oh, Sharon, why do you insist on seeking out my legal advice if you have absolutely no intention of following it?

Sharon: Aren't you the least bit interested in how it went with the police?

Michael: Sharon, you think you've managed to snow Hank Weber because he isn't taking this seriously yet. But that man, once he sinks his teeth into something, he does not let go...

Sharon: He has no reason to suspect me, Michael, none.

Michael: You hope. You hope.

Sharon: Look, the hotel room was probably cleaned out by now, and it was probably rented out to other people. If there was any evidence that I was there, it's got to be, uh, it's to got to be... what's the word?

Michael: Tainted.

Sharon: It's got to be tainted by now, wouldn't it be?

Michael: The forensic team at Weber’s disposal is fully capable of sifting out clues that will stand up in court.

Sharon: Are you trying to scare me into confessing?

Michael: Yes, yes! Is it working?

Victor: My relationship with Ashley Abbott is none of your business, son.

Nick: I heard about your little confrontation with Brad over the holidays.

Victor: I'm sure your blame me for that.

Nick: It sent her into a tailspin.

Victor: Ashley Abbott and I have had a long relationship, all right? Obviously, I feel very badly about what happened to her. Even Brad Carlton realizes that.

Nick: Well, I'll bet.

Victor: For your information, he asked me to come over to the house and discuss her situation.

Nick: You're kidding.

Victor: I wouldn't be kidding about something like that.

Victor: When I was there, she seemed to come out of her shell. We even had a little conversation.

Victor: And I will go back over there again if it means that it will help her recover.

Nick: So what's going on with your legal problems?

Victor: I think you're last person I would discuss that with.

Nick: I bet you get out of it clean.

Victor: Will that assuage your guilt?

Nick: I'm not feeling guilty.

Victor: Well, then you should be happy to know that the federal authorities are moving back in.

Nick: They are?

Victor: Right. And I'm being encouraged by certain people to plead guilty to the state charges before they do that.

Nick: Then do it, Dad. Don't be a fool. Get in that courtroom, plead guilty and get this over with.

Victor: What do you care, son?

Nick: This is your way of punishing me, isn't it?

Victor: What are you talking about?

Nick: The fact that I turned you in. It's just like you. You'd rather go to prison for years and make me feel guilty about it.

Victor: I can't believe I'm talking to my own son.

Dru: What are you all talking about? I did what I had to do.

Damon: What you had to do? You mortgaged the future of the company is what you did, of this discovery. And for what, Drucilla?

Dru: A chance, and Neil gave me his word, by the way.

Vanessa: Well, I don't know about you, but that's not good enough for me. This was not your call to make, Drucilla. It was my discovery. Mine.

Dru: "My discovery," she says. And what were you doing with that discovery? Cooling your heels, kissing on him, waiting for fate to deal you another hand.

Vanessa: Well, we had the upper hand until you went blabbing to the competition.

Dru: "Blabbing to the completion"? Somebody had to do something.

Damon: No, Drucilla, nobody had to do anything. The only thing you had to do was keep your fool mouth shut!

Dru: What did you say?

Damon: Contrary to anything you might have thought, Jabot is not about to crash and burn, especially not considering Newman’s legal trouble.

Dru: Newman's legal troubles? What about our financial woes?

Damon: We could have hung on.

Dru: Coulda, woulda, shoulda. I'm serving you up something that you can take to the bank.

Damon: Is that right? Tell me, Drucilla, do you have any guarantee Neil will make good on his promise? Do you have any assurance at all?

(Telephone rings) (Ring) (Ring)

Neil: Hello.

Phyllis: Neil, how's my only friend in Genoa City?

Neil: (Whispers) Phyllis? (Normal voice) my God, where are you?

Phyllis: Oh, nowhere in particular. Although I bet a lot of people want to know.

Neil: Listen, lady, you've caused quite a stir around here.

Phyllis: Yeah, well, I guess that's what happens when you steal Jabot's golden fleece. All hell breaks loose, doesn't it? (Giggles) how'd Jack take it?

Neil: Not too well.

Phyllis: Really? And Drucilla, how'd she take it? I bet she lost it, didn't she?

Neil: Not like you'd think. Actually, you know something? She's willing to help you out of this mess.

Phyllis: Oh, lucky me. Drucilla wants to help me out. Right. You know, I'm not really that unhappy. I like living on the lam.

Neil: Are you crazy?

Phyllis: Okay, you know, I'll bite. How does Drucilla want to help me?

Neil: Okay, first thing's first. You got the orchids with you?

Phyllis: Yes, I do. My little lovelies are doing fine.

Neil: Good. Now listen very carefully to me. I want you to bring them back to me, all right? I'll turn over yours to our R&D guys, and then we can put all this behind us.

Phyllis: No, no, no, wait a second, wait a second; you said turn mine over, right?

Neil: Yeah, yeah, right, that's exactly what I said.

Phyllis: Okay, what about the other one?

Neil: The other one goes to jabot. Listen, Phyllis, I made a deal. I promised to deliver one of the orchids, and I'm sticking with that.

Brad: How will telling Newman he's Abby’s father protect me?

Wes: Imagine the chaos following the moment where he finds out by accident, where he's totally unprepared.

Olivia: Ashley's in no condition to be responsible for anything she says right now.

Wes: Brad, how close did she come to blurting something out when Victor was here before?

Brad: Too damn close.

Olivia: Well, at least if you went to him beforehand, you'd have control of how the information was presented. You could explain to him how she got pregnant without his knowledge or consent.

Wes: Right, and this also gives you the opportunity to make your position as Abby’s legal parent abundantly clear, as well as lay down some ground rules for his interaction with your wife while she's in this state.

Brad: Look, what you're saying makes sense, but this isn't only about logic.

Olivia: We know that, Brad.

Brad: Ash was adamant. Victor must never know the truth. Now if I go against that for whatever reason, and down the road she blames me...

Wes: Yes, there are obviously risks either way, but my main concern here is Ashley, the potential impact on her of an explosive surprise that we could have circumvented.

Brad: But that's what's so agonizing. You're focusing on the short-term, getting Ash out of this.

Wes: That has to be our goal.

Brad: I know that, but there is the long-term to consider, the fallout of Victor finding out the truth. I could lose my marriage, my family, not to mention Nikki and what she stands to lose.

Olivia: She may have to be included in this conversation with Victor.

Brad: Olivia, there is no way in a million years that Nikki will have any part of victor finding out about Abby.

Wes: Even if Ashley’s recovery is dependant upon it?

Brad: All right, suppose we tell Victor. After the shock wears off, he decides to help us. We don't know that ash is gonna respond to him again. And then where are we? With a disaster on our hands and nothing to show for it. Now how the hell can I risk that?

Jack: Then I take it you heard what happened?

Nikki: Yeah, the confrontation between Victor and Brad apparently pushed your sister over the edge.

Jack: It's one damn crisis after another. That poor kid can't catch a break. If you don't mind my asking, how did you find out about Ashley’s relapse?

Nikki: Your father. That's not the only thing he told me.

Jack: Oh, no.

Nikki: He said there's one thing that Ashley responds to.

Jack: Oh, yeah, to Victor's name.

Nikki: So it's true?

Jack: Yeah, it's enough to make me want to puke.

Nikki: Please, don't be crude, Jack. I hope you realize that Victor cannot hear about this.

Jack: I hate to break it to you, Nik. The black knight already knows.

Sharon: How many times do I have to tell you? I can't go to the police about this. I won’t.

Michael: Even if I assure you that it is your best chance of getting out of this mess scot-free?

Sharon: Oh, scot-free? I destroy my marriage. I lose my children all over again. I may as well have let Cameron Kirsten have his way with me.

Michael: No, Sharon, the mistakes started piling up long before the night of Cameron Kirsten’s unfortunate demise.

Sharon: Gee, it is such a pleasure confiding in you, Michael. God, I don't even know why I do it.

Michael: Sharon, I'm sorry. Come back.

Sharon: Why, so you can make me feel worse than I already do?

Michael: Look, if you're not gonna tell the police what actually happened, that you were about to be raped, you were defending yourself and that is how Kirsten died, you'd better be damn sure that no one can place you at the scene.

Sharon: You mean, you think the physical evidence, the fingerprints and stuff...

Michael: You've never been arrested. You're not in any criminal database. And if, as you said, they've turned the room once or twice...

Sharon: I'm not such a dummy after all, am I?

Michael: Did anyone see you after the party that night?

Sharon: No. I told you I was very careful in leaving. I went out the backdoor of the club.

Michael: Absolutely no one saw you leave?

Sharon: No, in fact, the more that I think about it, my biggest problem may be how good at disappearing I was.

Kay: Tell me about your life in Seattle.

Arthur: What do you want to know?

Kay: Oh, come on, you made quite a name for yourself-- judge in the U.S. Court of Appeals.

Arthur: It's been a good run.

Kay: It has been?

Arthur: Mm-hmm.

Kay: Oh, you're not retiring?

Arthur: Well, I kick it around from time to time.

Kay: Oh, but you haven't made a decision?

Arthur: No, Katherine, not yet.

Kay: Your wife, your wife-- is it Eleanor? How is she?

Arthur: She passed away a little over two years ago.

Kay: Oh, I had no idea. I'm so sorry.

Arthur: Well, how could you? How did you even know about Eleanor?

Kay: Oh, please, come on, I've seen your photographs in the newspaper at various political functions over the past years. She seemed like a very lovely lady.

Arthur: Yes, she was, she was.

Kay: It must have been a terrible loss.

Arthur: We had an interesting life, tumultuous at times, but never boring.

Kay: And now you have your memories.

Arthur: Yes, I have my memories. I have many lovely memories, Kay.

Bobby: So that's the last time I see Frederick. Then I get this letter from a bank. So he's yelling and screaming about shutting me down, then the bank sends me a not saying that they yanked my line of credit.

Jill: How interesting.

Bobby: Yeah, 'cause you would think that a bank's in the business of lending money, right?

Jill: Right.

Bobby: Yeah, well, they'd have to have a pretty good reason to drop somebody who makes every payment on time.

Jill: Bobby, Frederick is very well connected.

Bobby: Yeah, he talks to his friend at the other bank, calls in a favor.

Jill: Yeah, but that makes the solution so simple. You just fire Brittany, get her out of your club.

Bobby: I don't think that's gonna make any difference now. Frederick's on this holy mission to have me closed down, and so far he's doing a pretty good job. That line of credit that was my working capital. It's gonna make things a little tougher around here.

Jill: I'm sorry.

Bobby: Listen, enough of my sad story. I'm getting upset just hearing myself talk about it. How are you doing? How are things with your mom?

Jill: No, no, you don't want to hear about that.

Bobby: Oh, come on, sure I do.

Jill: No, no, it's not gonna cheer you up.

Bobby: I'll listen anyways.

Jill: Things with my mother have gone from bad to worse. There. Aren't you glad you asked?

Dru: You see this bling bling right here? This is all I need to assure me that Neil’s gonna come through.

Vanessa: And that's it?

Dru: That's it? Honey, this is all I need.

Vanessa: That is ridiculously naive.

Dru: Excuse me? Are you saying I can't trust my own husband?

Damon: I'm saying there's not a thing in this world to make Neil hold up his end of the bargain.

Dru: Oh, yes, there is, and you are looking at her. Now if there's one thing I know about my husband, it's that he loves himself some Dru, and he is not gonna cross her.

Damon: Well, I hope you're sure about that, because if you're wrong...

Dru: Oh, I'm not wrong. No, now what's done is done. I trust my husband, and you're gonna have to start to.

Phyllis: No, no, no, Neil, you're going to have to do better than that, okay? I want specifics.

Neil: Like?

Phyllis: Like who'd you make this deal with? I'm sure Jack didn't agree to this.

Neil: No, I didn't make it with Jack. I made it with Dru.

Phyllis: Oh, oh, okay, you made it with Dru. You made it with Dru. So I'm just supposed to hand these babies over for what, sentimental reasons?

Neil: Fair is fair, okay? We've got a deal going on here. We're leveling the playing field.

Phyllis: By giving Jabot exactly what they want?

Neil: Phyllis, Phyllis, would you just trust me? We're not walking away empty-handed. (Whispers) I got the secret of the orchids out of Drucilla.

Phyllis: Oh, my God. You did? Well, what is it?

Neil: (Normal voice) no, no, no, no, no, first things first. You bring those neofinetias back, and then we'll talk.

Phyllis: Wait a second, I don't like the sound of this, Neil.

Neil: Well, that's too bad, 'cause that's the deal. We keep yours, Jabot gets theirs back, and our Newman R&D folks, they get the secret.

Phyllis: What about good old Phyllis? What does good old Phyllis get? I mean, what's going on here? You won't tell me. What's the matter? Don't you trust me?

Neil: That's not what I said.

Phyllis: Well, that's how you're acting. What do you think I'm gonna do? Just cut and run and go to someone else with it?

Neil: I don't know, Phyllis, you tell me.

Phyllis: No, you tell me. You tell me. You know, I'm not giving up these orchids, either of them, to anyone, that's it. Especially, especially, that freakazoid wife of your’s, okay? So--so I'm sorry, but these babies and I, we're not going anywhere.

Neil: Phyllis, Phyllis, I-I made a deal here. Do you understand?

Phyllis: Well, I made a deal, too, okay? I got the goods. You don’t. Bye!

Neil: No, no, Phyllis, don't hang up! Don’t...

Victor: Why would I want you to feel guilty?

Nick: Just take the easy way out, Dad.

Victor: I'm not gonna take the easy way out. I will not plead guilty either to federal or state charges, because I'm not a criminal.

Nick: You don't think what you did was a crime?

Victor: How naive can you get? I may have used some questionable business practices to make sure that Safra was successful, and I regret that now.

Nick: Only because you got caught.

Victor: You have a very limited view of the business world, don't you?

Nick: Whatever that means.

Victor: Are you fully aware of how many thousands of people Newman Enterprises employs, not only here, but overseas, wherever we have factories and offices? Are you aware of that?

Nick: That may be so, but you hurt a lot of people. Are you so blind you can't see that?

Victor: Son, I'm still your father, and I will not have you talk to me like that.

Nick: All right, well, then I got an idea. Why don't we get the gloves, go out in the gym and handle this right now?

Victor: Now let me tell you something, boy. Are you sure you want to do that? Because I don't, because our relationship would be finished forever. Don't you ever challenge me like that again. One day you'll become aware of the repercussions of what you did. It'll be sooner than you think.

Olivia: Brad, we're not forcing you to do anything. It's a recommendation, a strong one, but ultimately the decision is yours.

Abby: Daddy, Daddy, look!

Brad: Oh, wow, honey, that is beautiful.

Abby: I asked Mommy to help, but I don't think she heard me.

Brad: Well, you know what, baby? Mommy's just a little bit tired, that's all.

Olivia: Hey, sweetie, are you hungry? I can fix you a little snack.

Brad: Yeah? Okay, go get a snack.

Olivia: Come on, we'll go into the kitchen and look in the fridge. We'll get you a cheese sandwich.

Nikki: Victor knows that Ashley only responds to his name?

Jack: Actually, it's worse than that.

Nikki: How could it be worse than that?

Jack: He's seen her and talked to her.

Nikki: I thought she wasn't communicating.

Jack: Well, actually, he did most of the talking, but, yes, he's the first person to be able to get her to speak.

Nikki: Oh, my God, Jack! How could you let that happen?

Jack: Wait, wait, wait, this wasn't my idea.

Nikki: Whose idea was it?

Jack: Bradley’s.

Nikki: Brad? That doesn't make any sense. Why would he want Victor anywhere near Ashley? He's made it very clear that he believes Victor's responsible for her accident and losing the baby.

Jack: He was desperate to get his wife out of this black hole she's in, and he knew she was reacting to Victor's name.

Nikki: I don't care! How the hell could he let that happen? What was he thinking?

Jack: Because he was thinking of Ashley. He was putting his own feelings aside and thinking of Ashley. Cut him some slack.

Nikki: Okay, I guess I can understand that, but I hope we are all in agreement that this is the last time Victor will have any part of Ashley’s recovery.

Jack: I don't know, Nik.

Nikki: Jack, please, be reasonable. Ashley is being looked after by the best doctors there are. Let them handle it. Don't you see how risky it is for everybody involved for Victor to be anywhere near her?

Jack: You're talking about Abby’s paternity.

Nikki: Yes, I'm talking about Abby’s paternity! He can never find out that he's the father of that child. It would be a disaster.

Jack: Sweetheart, relax, I agree. I'm on your side.

Nikki: All right, well, then promise me, promise me that you will keep Victor away from Ashley.

Jack: I can't make that promise.

Nikki: Why not?

Jack: Because I want my sister back. I can't stand watching her sit there with that vacant look on her face. Do I want Victor involved again? No, I don't want her in the same room with him after what he's done to her life. But if it's the only way...

Nikki: Do you understand that you are playing Russian roulette with people's lives? And Ashley has as much to lose as we do.

Jill: I'm sorry to come over to your office and get all weepy on you.

Bobby: Come on, it's all right. You'd be surprised. People come from all over town just to weep in my office. I'm used to it. I can't believe your mother's still drinking. That's not good.

Jill: You know what's really weird? It was one little slip, and it's right down to the bottom.

Bobby: You're not still blaming yourself, are you?

Jill: I can't help it. I mean, I know, I know, that she's responsible for herself and for her actions, but my God, I mean, I pushed her right to the edge. She was doing fine.

Bobby: No, no, no, she's been on that edge since she quit 20 years ago. That's how it is when you're hardcore.

Jill: All right, well, then I pushed her over the edge.

Bobby: She made that choice herself. Look, Jill, you're not gonna be any good to her if you keep beating yourself up.

Jill: I just can't deal with this woman who is so bitter, Bobby. Cynical and self-destructive... I haven't seen her like this for over 20 years.

Bobby: Jill, you gotta make sure she doesn't drag you down with her. That can happen.

Jill: Somebody's gotta help her.

Bobby: Maybe someone will come along that can.

Jill: Who?

Bobby: I don't know, but I'll tell you this. It'd be best if whoever it was wasn't family.

Arthur: Have I made you uncomfortable?

Kay: No, no, no, no. No, Arthur.

Arthur: Is something going on with you, Katherine?

Kay: Something going on? Oh, perhaps that is the understatement of the year.

Arthur: Tell me.

Kay: It's just so good to see an old friend.

Arthur: You didn't believe me earlier, did you?

Kay: When?

Arthur: When I told you the reason I'd come back to Genoa City, that it's because of you

Kay: Well, Arthur, I just... I just don't know what to say.

Arthur: You needn't say a word, but there is something that I need to tell you. After all these years, you've never entirely been out of my mind. Katherine, I have never stopped thinking about you.

Michael: So there is a problem?

Sharon: Nick's mom. She's obsessed with where I was that night. She wants to know why I didn't come straight home after the party broke up.

Michael: Well, how suspicious is she? You can't afford to have people asking questions.

Sharon: I know, but I don't think she's gonna be an issue.

Michael: But you just said that she--

Sharon: I put her in her place, Michael, okay?

Michael: Whatever that means.

Sharon: Well, let's just say everyone has secrets that they don't want getting out, don't they? So I snuck out of the party. I went straight to Cameron’s room at this sleazy motel, and I was very careful when I...

Michael: Yeah, when you did what you had to do, when you hid the body.

Sharon: Honestly, nobody saw me. I was looking over my shoulder the whole time. I didn't see a single soul. And besides, if somebody had seen me, they would have come forward by now. What? Say something.

Michael: I know what you want me to say. You want me to say that everything's gonna be fine, but unfortunately, I can't do that, Sharon.

Sharon: Why? I mean, if nobody saw me--

Michael: If-- if nobody saw you, there is a remote possibility that you might be able to carry this thing off. But, please, don't fool yourself into thinking that you're in the clear, because, trust me, you're not.

Sharon: Why are you being so negative?

Michael: Because you were panicked. You were under duress. You didn't go there intending to kill the guy. It just happened. You didn't plan it, and even if you had planned it, plans that seem foolproof can fall apart because of the tiniest detail. Something that seems so inconsequential at the time can come back and bite you when you least expect it.

[Sharon remembering.]

Man: Hey, where do you think you're going? You one of Marie’s girls? I haven't seen you around before.

Michael: Come on, Sharon, you've got to listen to me. You have to... what? What's the matter? Are you remembering something?

Sharon: Oh, my God.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Jack: You'd better hope that orchid comes back, or we may find you're more trouble than you're worth.

Dru: Excuse me?

Brad: You understand why I turned to Victor.

Nikki: No, not really.

Brad: Damn it, Nikki, what choice did I have?

Nikki: There are always choices, Brad.

Brad: Really?
