[Music box plays]
Caleb: That music.
Livvie: Caleb, my love. Finally.
Caleb: Olivia? Olivia? Oh. Olivia.
[Music box plays]
Kevin: And when the music plays, Livvie, you will come back. Tess will be history. And daddy will do whatever it takes to bring you home.
Tess: Our pictures, my things. Jack, what have you done?
Jack: Letting go of the past. It's about time, don't you think?
Tess: Please don't hate me.
Jack: I don't hate you, Tess. I don't know that I feel anything about anything anymore.
Tess: Jack, don't say that.
Jack: Why not? I mean, you've made it real clear how you feel about me.
Tess: What do you mean? Our marriage is everything to me.
Jack: How can you say that, Tess? I told you to stay away from Caleb, but you wouldn't.
Tess: He needed me.
Jack: And so did I, and I'm your husband!
Tess: You don't understand.
Jack: No, no one understands -- not Ian, not Lucy, not Rafe, not Alison. We all tried to keep you safe from Caleb.
Tess: I told you he wasn't going to hurt me.
Jack: It's too late. He already has. And it's only going to get worse because you brought him back to life.
Tess: I had to. Jack, it's not right to kill any living thing, even Caleb. Please?
Jack: Do you want me to forgive you? Just pick up the pieces and move on? Is that what you want, Tess? Well, I can't. What we have -- had -- is over.
Rafe: Who's there?
Ian: I have been sitting here in the dark, trying to figure out a way to get rid of Caleb, because killing the bastard's obviously not an option.
Rafe: Ok, now, listen to me, I think I might have a lead. It's going to sound a little strange at first.
Ian: Try me.
Rafe: Ok. I think the key to bringing down Caleb lies somewhere in the phrase "sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll."
Ian: I'm not in the mood for riddles right now, Rafe.
Rafe: Just -- just think about it for a second. Think of it like breaking some kind of vampire code, ok? Now, "drugs" refers to this water that Caleb drinks to mask his symptoms.
Ian: Ok, what about "sex"?
Rafe: "Sex" refers to the fact that when a slayer and a vampire sleep together, the symptoms vanish.
Ian: You know that for sure then?
Rafe: Well, it seems to be working for you and Lucy, not to mention the fact that my future mother-in-law kind of tried to seduce me. Wasn't a pretty sight.
Ian: Well, it sounds like we need to do somethg fast. Caleb's back and he's one pissed-off vampire.
Lucy: Maybe moving back in here will help restore a little order in my life, something I definitely need now with everything that's going on. You know what I could also use here is a little help, just a little.
[Key turns in lock]
Lucy: That was fast.
Serena: Hey, mom.
Lucy: Serena! What -- what are you doing here? What on earth are you doing here?
Serena: Oh, well, you sounded strange when we said good night --
Lucy: I --
serena: So when my dorky babysitter fell asleep, I snuck out.
Lucy: No! Listen to me, that's not ok. It's not safe out there this time of night. You can't go wandering around and running away like that. What are you doing? No.
Serena: Well, mom, I'm safe now.
Lucy: No, you're not. Get up, get up. I am driving you back home. I need you to stay with your dad tonight. Come on, you can't stay here. It's too late. Get your stuff. Let's go. I'll talk to you on the way home about --
Caleb: Hello, Lucy.
Lucy: What do you want?
Caleb: What do I want? Now, is that any way to talk to a neighbor? I thought maybe you could use some help unpacking.
Lucy: I don't want help. I want you to leave.
Lucy: Serena --
Serena: This is Stephen Clay! Last time I saw you, we really didn't get a chance to talk at Thanksgiving time.
Caleb: I know, I know, I missed that.
Lucy: Serena -- Serena, listen to me --
Serena: I am, like, your biggest fan.
Caleb: Maybe you can give me a little help here. You know, your mom keeps trying to get me to leave town, but I like it here. I want to stay. So what do you suppose we -- we could do about that, Serena?
[Captioning made possible by abc, inc.]
Ian: Well, since we have nothing else to go on, let's hear your theory.
Rafe: Ok. Now, we agree that Caleb can't be killed, right?
Ian: Right. But we can try and take his power away permanently.
Rafe: All right, and we know that sex between a slayer and a vampire takes away that power temporarily, and the drugs, well, that's this water that Caleb drinks to mask his symptoms.
Ian: Ok, ok, how does rock 'n' roll fit into this equation?
Rafe: His music, the stuff that he and his merry band of vampires keep making.
Reese: You tried to put our boss out of business, slayer!
Rafe: Ok, isn't it a little late? Shouldn't you two deadheads be in coffins or something?
Caz: No, we still owe you a beatdown for trashing our studio. You thought we forgot?
Reese: You really are in the wrong place at the wrong time, buddy.
Ian: Maybe you are.
Tess: You said we'd be together forever.
Jack: And I meant it. You know, when I look at you, see what you've done, it's like looking at Livvie all over again.
Tess: I know Livvie has done some really terrible things, but I'm not her.
Jack: No. You are. And I'm sitting here playing the same miserable story all over again.
Tess: That's not true.
Jack: Oh, it's not, Tess? It all starts with me falling in love with a beautiful, beautiful girl who's drawn to Caleb at the end.
Tess: I was just trying --
Jack: Oh, I know, you were trying to help him. What was I thinking? And here I am running around like an idiot, trying to save you and protect you, but obviously you wanted to be with him.
Tess: It's just that Caleb was in so much pain.
Jack: Yeah, but you being with him was killing me!
Tess: But I'm your wife and I -- and I love you. I would never leave you.
Jack: You've been leaving me for a long time. Just both of us weren't willing to admit it. But you know what the thing is, Tess -- I feel sorry for you. He's using you and you can't see that. All he wants is Livvie. He doesn't give a damn about you.
Tess: That's not true. He doesn't want Livvie anymore. He -- he wants --
Jack: You? Did he tell you he wants you? Go ahead, Tess. Tell me what happened.
Tess: He kissed me.
Lucy: Listen, pumpkin head, I need you to go to your old room and call your dad. I'm sure he'd be very worried about you just about now. So go, go to your room and call him now.
Serena: In a minute.
Lucy: No, not in a minute. I need you to go now.
Serena: I just want to tell you I think your new single's awesome.
Caleb: Hey, that means a lot to me, Serena. Thanks.
Lucy: Serena, go to your room now.
Serena: Ok, ok. I just want to tell you that I think I'm totally into "Naked Eyes."
[Serena hums "Naked Eyes"]
Serena: Mom's always telling me to turn it off, but I can't stop listening to it. I bought three C.D.S. I have one at my dad's, I have one at school, and --
Caleb: I'll bet you even have one here at your mom's.
Lucy: No, no, she doesn't.
Serena: Yeah, I do! Would you sign it for me?
Caleb: Oh, I'd love to. Can you go get it?
Serena: Oh, cool! Ok, sure!
Lucy: You stay away from her. Stay away from my daughter.
Caleb: Oh. You really think I'd hurt your little girl? What kind of sicko do you think I am?
Serena: This is so cool!
Lucy: Yeah. Hey, you, it's really cool, but it is so late. You know, you -- you need to get some rest, pumpkin head.
Lucy: I'm not kidding. I really want you to go to your room. Come on.
Caleb: There you go, darling.
Serena: Thank you so much!
Caleb: It was my pleasure.
Serena: Oh! Oh, my God!
Lucy: Brush your teeth and wash your face, Serena! I'll be up in a minute! If you ever -- if you ever touch her again --
Caleb: You'll what? You'll try and kill me? You already have, twice. No, now it's my turn to return the favor.
Rafe: Well, looks like your friend Caz bailed on you!
Rafe: Wow, sure hope he can fly.
Reese: What is it with you? For a human, you're pretty strong.
Ian: I work out whenever I can. But since you dropped in, why don't we have a little chat?
Caz: I don't have anything to say.
Rafe: Oh, come on, you haven't even heard our questions yet. We'll make them real simple.
Ian: What do you know about Stephen Clay's music?
Rafe: And why are slayers like Lucy and I repelled by it?
Reese: You have no taste.
Rafe: Ok, that's it. That's not the answer I was looking for.
Ian: It's not working out for you.
Rafe: Now, I'm the slayer and you're a vampire. You got the picture?
Ian: Ok, let me try one way. Hang on one second. Here's my question to you -- why is it that that music hooks everyone except slayers?
Reese: Sorry, you'll just have to buy the album. This is getting boring.
Ian: Rafe --
Rafe: Let me put you out of your misery!
Reese: Wait, wait, you psycho!
Rafe: "Ashes to ashes --"
Rafe: "Dust to dust --"
Reese: Ok, ok, ok! Ok. There's something about the first five notes of that song "Naked -- Naked Eyes." That's all I know. I swear.
Ian: Sex, drugs, and five little notes, huh?
Rafe: Might just be the way to bring down a vampire forever.
Jack: Caleb kissed you? Did he force you, Tess?
Tess: No, it was nothing like that.
Jack: What else did he do?
Tess: Nothing. I -- I just ran away and I came here.
Jack: Because you were scared?
Tess: No, because I wanted to be with you. Please? Jack, please. I don't want to fight about this. Everything can be the way we dreamed. Please?
Jack: Yeah, until Caleb needs you again.
Tess: No, Jack, I won't go.
Jack: No, you will, just like Livvie.
Tess: But I'm not Livvie. I don't want to be like Livvie and I won't go back to Caleb.
Jack: Even if he's in pain, Tess, or if he needs another kiss?
Tess: Stop. I don't want to talk about that. Stop talking about that.
Jack: Why not, Tess? I mean, didn't you feel anything when you were in his arms? Something, stir something up inside besides your charitable instincts?
Tess: Please, stop it, Jack. Just stop.
Jack: No, Tess, tell me what you really felt when you were in his arms.
Tess: What can I do to make this better?
Jack: Tell me your true feelings so that we can go on with our lives.
Tess: Please. Jack, I don't -- I don't want to fight about this. Please. Please just hold me. Hold me tight. Hold me, Jack. Please look into my eyes. Look at me. I only want you. Only you. Please. Please, Jack, make love to me. Please?
Lucy: I am a slayer, so what makes you think it's going to be so easy to do away with me?
Caleb: You know, after I got staked the last time, ooh, I had a killer case of heartburn that lasted for days.
Lucy: Well, then why don't you just let me take care of that bad case of heartburn, huh?
Caleb: Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk. You know what puzzles me? Maybe last time I was a little cruel. But this time, coming back as Stephen Clay, what have I really done to hurt anyone?
Lucy: Besides turning Alison's mother into a vampire?
Caleb: She enjoyed every minute of it.
Lucy: And you enjoy it even more, feeding on human flesh. So every minute you're still here, that means somebody I love, somebody I know is in jeopardy.
Caleb: And since the only other slayer around can't kill me, what does that tell you?
Lucy: I guess that just means that one of us isn't going to make it out of this room tonight.
Tess: Please, Jack, make love to me. I need to feel close to you.
Jack: It won't fix what's broken between us.
Tess: I can't change who I am. I don't kn h how.
Jack: I know that I've been fighting a losing battle for a long time. I can't do it anymore. That's why I have to do what I have to do.
Tess: No. No. Jack, no. Please?
Jack: Tess, no. You said it for yourself -- you can't change. So I'm just going to have to ask you to leave. I have to ask you to go.
Tess: No, Jack. Jack, maybe we could just --
Jack: No, Tess, Tess, Tess, listen to me, I'm done. I'm finished, ok? You're free to do whatever you want, ok? Just go. You're free to go to Caleb. Go. Just go!
["Naked Eyes" plays]
Rafe: This is it. It's the first five notes of the song on a loop. Sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Ian: I don't know. It's very strange. I almost find it soothing.
Rafe: You're kidding me, right?
Rafe: I can't do this. I can't listen to it anymore.
Ian: Listen. Listen to it. Do you hear that? Hear the voices? Hear the water? And in the distance, there's gunshots. Listen to that.
Rafe: Just turn the damn thing off, alright?
Ian: What's the matter with you? You ok?
Rafe: I told you, I can't listen to this anymore!
Ian: This might be the breakthrough we're looking for.
Rafe: Just turn the damn thing off or I'll kill you!
Caleb: Whoo, you really are something. And you just don't give up, do you?
Lucy: No, that's right, I just don give up.
Caleb: You know, I -- I have a little confession to admit. I've always been quite fond of you.
Serena: Hey, mom? Stephen? I'm going to sleep! Good night!
Caleb: It's over now, slayer.
Lucy: Yeah, I've -- I've always had a little confession myself.
Lucy: Could you maybe keep a secret? I -- I've actually sort of always been rather fond of you, too.
Caleb: Me? Why, because I have such a gentle soul?
Lucy: No, because you don't have one. I find that very seductive, you know. Tell me something, have you ever thought about being with a slayer? You know, when -- when I look in your eyes -- those eyes are really something, aren't they? I see so much power, passion. I think maybe -- maybe that's something that we share. Tell the truth, you ever been with a slayer?
Caleb: Only on the battlefield.
Lucy: Really? That's a shame. You know something, if tonight's going to be my last night, I'd really rather enjoy myself. So what do you say? Why don't I show you how powerful and strong you can really feel? What do you say we put our differences aside, just for one night?
Caleb: Just for one night?
Stay tuned for scenes from the next "Port Charles: Surrender."
On the next "Port Charles" --
Rafe: I will kill you!
Ian: It's me, Ian!
Kevin: My daughter! My sweet daughter! You're back!
Caleb: What do you want?
Lucy: What do you think?
