kate: My god, it's a mob scene out there. I had to fight my way into the building.

Ian: Ramsey's been arrested. They think he's some kind of hero for protecting this lancelot thing.

Kate: It's hard to blame them for wanting something good to believe in for a change.

Ian: Can you get him released?

Kate: Are you kidding? The police have barely figured out what to charge him with.

Ian: Yeah. Well, look at that -- there's our martyr now.

Kate: I understand you need representation. I can get you out of here in no time.

Chris: Don't waste your time. I'm not going anywhere.

Tv announcer: Manson skateboarded across canada in 11 monthsraising over $14 million to fight heart disease. He covered over 5,000 miles after reaching --

[tv turns off]

lucy: Hey, i -- I was sort of starting to get worried about you.

Kevin: I worked late.

Lucy: Oh. I was -- i was just watching the news while i was waiting. I saw where chris ramsey's going to get arrested for that -- what, protecting that vigilante. That's crazy, huh? Doc, wait. Please? Um -- you know, when you yell and scream at me and get all furious, at least I know exactly how you're feeling, what you're thinking. This silent thing -- it just doesn't work. So just -- will you say something?

Kevin: What do you want me to say? You want me to reiterate that you went behind my back? My daughter's back? Ran a paternity test on my daughter's child?

Lucy: I tried and tried to explain that to you --

kevin: Sure, you did. You wanted to believe that rafe wasn't the father.

Lucy: I still don'T. I'm not sure he is!

Kevin: Lucy, the test proved that he is! What does it take?

Lucy: Look, I know deep down you realize this, too. You know that livvie is not being honest with anybody, including herself. She's a very mixed-up, troubled young lady. And you pretending that everything's fine and hiding yourself in the sand is not going to help her. It's not helping her at all.

Kevin: You think I don't know that? You think I don't know what a rotten father I am?

Rafe: Alison.

Alison: Hi. Rafe.

Rafe: Hey.

Alison: Hi.

Rafe: What are you doing?

Alison: I'm just -- I'm doing some work. I kind of get my best work done here at the pizza shack.

Rafe: Work? Really?

Alison: Yeah. But I can't actually find a lot of information on the avatar here.

Rafe: And you probably won't. Listen, I thought we talked about you not getting involved in this.

Alison: I know, but if i didn't, then I wouldn't be able to -- to share this little tidbit i found.

Rafe: What? What is it?

Alison: Well, I mean, you said it was kind of, you know, no big deal, so i don't -- I don't want to bore you with it, really.

Rafe: Ahem. Ok, please tell me what you found.

Alison: Ok, first off, I found a first report about a mysterious figure who tracked down a serial killer about 15 years ago. Now, it's been a case that nobody has been able to solve -- not the police department, not the F.B.I., Nothing.

Rafe: But do they have any idea who this mysterious figure was?

Alison: No. No, actually they don't, but the M.O. Totally matches up and everything, right down to the hooded shroud.

Rafe: Wow. You found all this on the net, huh?

Alison: Yeah. I told you i was really good. I'm kind of smart like that. Maybe you just forgot.

[Alison and rafe laugh] : Pa

livvie: Rafe. Hey, there you are.

Rafe: Hey, livvie.

Livvie: I have been looking all over for you.

Rafe: Yeah, well, kind of got crazy.

Livvie: Yes, i've heard -- lots of excitement in the park about this lancelot, but you don't have to worry because I'm fine and the baby's fine. I just missed you, that's all.

Alison: You know, actually, I think I'll probably just get going.

Livvie: No, alison, please. Stay, I insist.

[Captioning made possible by abc, inc., And soapnet]

kate: Well, I understand if you want someone else to represent you.

Chris: No, no, no, that has nothing to do with it. I'm sure you're a competent attorney. It's just -- this has nothing to do with you.

Ian: What game are you playing, ramsey?

Chris: I'm not playing any game. I'm making a statement. Haven't you ever had a cause you believe in?

Ian: Oh, please. You make me sick.

Chris: I'm standing up for my principles.

Ian: You don't have any principles.

Doree: Don't even try it, dr. Thornhart. He's been this way ever since we brought him in. Absolutely will not give up the name of this criminal that he's apparently so cozy with.

Chris: It's a hero. It's a hero.

Doree: Criminal -- that's what you call a person who takes the law into their own hands.

Chris: You know, call him whatever you want. But no one can call me a judas because I will never give him up. I will die first.

Marissa: That is my headline.

Chris: Yeah.

Doree: Excuse me. What are you doing?

Marissa: Oh, I'm --

chris: She's getting the exclusive story. She's going to tell the world.

Ian: Enough with the st. Christopher act. What has this thing given you?

Chris: What are you talking about?

Ian: What kind of a deal have you made with the devil this time?

Jack: What the hell am i doing?

Alison: You want me to stay?

Livvie: Yeah. Yeah, actually, I would like that very much.

Rafe: Livvie, you know what? You need some rest. Let me take you home, ok?

Livvie: No, honey -- sweetie --

rafe: Yes, come on.

Livvie: I am fine, ok? I've been really wanting to talk to alison.

Alison: Why?

Livvie: Because I think it's time we buried the hatchet, and I want to apologize.

Alison: You want to do what?

Livvie: That night i fell -- alison, we were both really upset and things got out of hand, but everything's ok now and no harm was done. The baby -- the baby is fine. So i was just hoping and -- no, I was thinking -- I mean, I don't -- i don't see any reason why we can't try and at least be friends again. I mean, after all, we were really close friends. I mean, almost like sisters.

Alison: Yeah, we were. So what are you saying?

Livvie: Well, I'm not saying we'll make it back to that place, but we'll obviously be running into each other from time to time, and it would be really nice if it didn't have to be so uncomfortable. And I think we're both mature enough to let bygones be bygones and just get past all this.

Alison: Um -- yeah, ok. You make it sound so easy.

Livvie: Yeah, well -- well, sure it is. Right, honey?

Rafe: Uh, right.

Livvie: Great. Great --

alison: Great?

Livvie: So now that the air is all cleared up, so, what are you two doing here? I mean, you look so industrious.

Rafe: Nothing.

Alison: I was sharing some information with rafe that i found on the internet about lancelot.

Livvie: Rafe?

Rafe: Ok, I know we talked about me not getting into this, but it's too late. I'm already in it and that's just the way it is, all right?

Livvie: Hey, hey, hey --

rafe: It's the way it is.

Livvie: Sweetie, sweetie, don't -- don't worry. I trust you, ok? And if you think that this person, this thing -- whatever it is -- is dangerous, then i totally trust your judgment and I am behind you 100%.

Rafe: Thank you.

Livvie: He is -- he is so protective -- i mean, especially with the baby and all. Aren't -- aren't you, sweetheart?

Alison: Yeah, that's great. I'm going to go.

Rafe: Alison --

alison: I'm sure that there's someplace that i have to be, I just know it. So i'm just going to get going. You two have a really swell night.

Rafe: No, wait, wait, wait!

Livvie: I tried.

Rafe: Did you really have to do that?

Lucy: What are you saying? You are a wonderful, wonderful father. You know that.

Kevin: No, no, lucy, a wonderful father is someone who is there for his child. I haven't been there for most of livvie's life!

Lucy: Wait, wait. You never even knew she existed.

Kevin: Regardless, it doesn't matter. She was raised in a nightmare of a house, and all I can think about is that if i had been there to guide her, to show her something resembling love --

lucy: Oh, doc --

kevin: Maybe -- maybe things would have been different and maybe she would have been different. And I know i can't do anything about that now. But I have to try.

Lucy: You are trying. She knows that you love her, and she couldn't ask for a better father.

Kevin: I wish that were true.

Lucy: It is true. I feel horrible here. I didn't realize you were walking around with so much doubt and so much guilt.

Kevin: Yeah, well, I had a lot of time to think when i was stuck in that place. Nothing to do and no one there but myself. Lucy, I was just terrified that i'd never see you again. And I was just as terrified that i'd never see livvie.

Lucy: I know. I'm sure you were.

Kevin: She needs me, lucy.

Lucy: Yes, she needs you. She needs you very, very much. But, doc --

kevin: "But" nothing. No, lucy -- look, I'm not stupid! I know my daughter has problems. But I can't turn my back on her now. I can'T. She's my child, and I won'T.

Lucy: Of course not.

Kevin: I'm sorry I yelled at you. I'm sorry I dumped that on you. I'm a shrink. I should know better than that. But right now I just feel like a father who has never been there for his child. I won't quit on her. You have to promise me, lucy, that you won't ask me to do that. Promise me.

Livvie: What? I didn't mean to upset her.

Rafe: Yeah, you did.

Livvie: Rafe, I couldn't help it.

Rafe: Why?

Livvie: Because my feelings were hurt.

Rafe: Your feelings were hurt. There's nothing going on between me and alison. I told you that.

Livvie: No, no, no, I'm not even talking about her.

Rafe: Ok, then what?

Livvie: You lied to me, rafe. You said you weren't going to go after this avatar.

Rafe: Well, I never exactly said that.

Livvie: Yes, you did.

Rafe: No, maybe that's what you heard.

Livvie: What?

Rafe: I said that I was going to make you and the baby the number one priority -- and I am -- but I never had any intention of backing away from this. I'm going to track the avatar, I'm going to find the host, and expose it. Then i'm going to find a way to get it the hell out of town! Ok?

Livvie: I can't believe this -- didn't you hear a word i said? This is our life, our child's life. And now you're putting yourself in danger. Why can't you just let this go?

Rafe: Because this is who i am. This is what i was born to do. It's what I've been training my whole life to do.

Livvie: Ok. Well, I'm really scared.

Rafe: I know, and I'm sorry. But if i back away from this, I'm denying who I really am.

Livvie: Yeah, well, maybe -- i don't know -- maybe you're wrong about this guy. Maybe -- maybe he really is good, this lancelot.

Rafe: I met him today.

Livvie: What?

Rafe: Yeah, I was this close to him.

Livvie: Oh, my god.

Rafe: He said we were brothers. He said we're fighting for a common cause. But you know what, he's wrong and he has to be stopped.

Livvie: No, you've got to leave this thing alone or he'll ruin everything.

Rafe: He will? What does that mean? You almost sound like you know him.

[Knock on door]

alison: Hi.

Jack: Hey.

Alison: Um -- what are you doing?

Jack: I'm looking for your shadow. Where's rafe?

Alison: That's really funny. He's with his wife.

Jack: Oh, I see.

Alison: Ahem.

Jack: And you're here because?

Alison: Well, I was -- i was doing some research on this whole, you know, lancelot thing and just trying to figure it out and stuff. Have you talked to chris? Has he told you anything?

Jack: Not a word.

Alison: Really?

Jack: Yeah. Just been a little busy. I do have life, believe it or not.

Alison: Excuse me. Why are you being like that?

Jack: Like what?

Alison: Why are you being so cold to me?

Jack: Oh. Probably because i'm tired of helping people out who don't want it.

Alison: Well, jeez, I could have sworn i just said that i wanted to try and figure it out, too. I mean, I do want your help.

Jack: Why?

Alison: What?

Jack: I mean, do you want to figure it out because you're on to something, or is it just to keep you close to rafe? And while we're on the subject -- just what do I have to do with any of this?

Chris: I haven't made any deals, and i resent you even associating lancelot with the devil.

Kate: If his intentions are so noble, why doesn't he come forward and work with the police? Surely he'd be more effective that way.

Chris: I guess it's just not his style.

Ian: You're beginning to act like a character in your own comic book, boy.

Chris: And you can't stand for anyone else to be the hero around here.

Ian: Oh, please. If you believe that, you're a bigger idiot than i thought you were.

Chris: And you are a fool. Let me tell you something -- see, lancelot has bestowed upon this town a great gift. And as long as i have breath in my body, I will be the defender and the keeper of that gift. Did you get all that down, kid?

Marissa: "Keeper of the gift." Got it.

Ian: Use your head. Hey, this is not a man. It's a spirit that took over a man --

chris: Don't start with the spirit --

ian: Listen to me! The more people believe in this thing, the more powerful it's going to get. And I know you think you can handle it. I'm telling you, you can't. So tell me who the host is before it's too late.

Chris: It already is too late. Lancelot is already too strong for you or anyone else to stop.

Kate: Dr. Ramsey.

Chris: Hey. You still here? I told you i don't need a lawyer.

Kate: Yeah, I got that. Listen, I was just hoping you could satisfy my curiosity on one point.

Chris: Sure. What is it?

Kate: Other than the real estate deals and your get-rich-quick schemes, why are you really doing this?

Doree: Come on.

Chris: Ow. Hold on.

Crowd: Free ramsey! Free ramsey!

Chris: That answer your question?

[Door closes]

crowd: Free ramsey! Free ramsey!

Alison: Well, I just thought that we were friends.

Jack: Well, I'm trying to be, but you're not making it very easy.

Alison: Why? What do you mean?

Jack: What do I mean? Ok, alison, when you bump into rafe somewhere, you get your hopes up for, like, the millionth time, ok? And then when he blows you off for, like, the millionth time, you come running back to me knocking on my door. And you know what? I'm sick of being a consolation prize, that's all.

Alison: Consolation prize?

Jack: Yeah.

Alison: What are you talking -- i never treat you like that. Why are you talking to me like this?

Jack: Well, I guess I don't have anything else to say. You always go running back to your old boy jack every time the golden boy blows you off. And I guess I'm just fresh out of advice. And you know what? I'm really sick of the subject.

Lucy: You do need to get something straight here. I would never, ever, not in a million years, ask you to give up on your child, any more than you asked me to give up when christina was missing for all that time.

Kevin: I know. I know you wouldn'T. And I also know that my daughter is -- is very troubled. But I can't turn my back on her, lucy. I have to show her my support until I can find the best way to help her.

Lucy: I know that, and I really do understand that. Listen to me -- if you need to do anything at all to reach out to her, that's ok with me. And I promise you, i will respect that from now on. I will. But I really need you to understand something. You are my husband, and I'm your wife. And I will not let anything, anything come between us at all. This marriage means more to me than anything in the whole, entire world. Look, our children are everything to us, too. I mean, they're our family, and we love them and we sacrifice for them and we do anything we can for them. But this is us, doc. This is our marriage. We have each other, and that's what we have to hold on to, and I think if we just remember that, we can be ok, ok?

Kevin: You really give me a run for my money in the shrink department, you know.

Lucy: I love you very, very much.

Kevin: I love you.

Livvie: What are you -- what are you talking about? Of course I don't know the avatar, but I do know darkness. And I know that if you let it into your life, it'll consume you. And if you can't keep it away, it'll somehow find its way back in.

Rafe: I won't let that happen. I will keep us safe.

Livvie: Rafe --

rafe: I've already made up my mind about this and there's nothing you can say to change it, so i just wish you would stop trying and get behind me on this, all right?

Livvie: You're right, you're my husband. And -- and i support you. In whatever you have to do, I support you. I may not like it, but i support you.

Rafe: Thank you. I promise, you have nothing to be afraid of.

Ian: Rafe. I got to talk to you. Do you mind?

Livvie: Yeah.

Rafe: Well, what's going on?

Ian: I tried to reason with ramsey. It's no use. He's got the whole town behind him and this avatar thing. So we got to come up with something fast.

Rafe: We have to find a way to reveal the host's identity.

Livvie: No, you won't do any such thing, rafe. Not you or anyone else.

>> Stay tuned for scenes from the next "port charles: Torn."

>> On the next "port charles" --

[avatar screams]

livvie: Don't let them get to you. They're only trying to trick you.

Marissa: I do not want to talk about my sister.

Ricky: Your sister? Casey was your sister?
