jack: Hey, rafe. Why don't you leave her alone, man?
Alison: Hey, what are you doing?
Jack: How many times do you have to make her cry before you get the picture?
Alison: This is not what you think.
Jack: You made your choice. Why don't you stick with it?
Alison: Jack --
rafe: It's ok. Jack's right. I need to stay away from alison.
Alison: You don't even know what just happened here.
Jack: Look, alison, I know what i saw.
Rafe: Can we just forget about this now? Ok, let jack take you home.
Alison: But --
rafe: All right?
Alison: I -- wait. Ok. Ok.
Jack: I don't like that guy. Come on. What's up with that?
Alison: But -- you know, that's not really any of your business.
Jack: Look, alison, I'm just trying to be your friend.
Alison: Are you? Because I sort of feel like you're trying to be my boyfriend -- my jealous boyfriend.
Jack: Jeez. Oh, my god.
Jamal: We'll go on up and go drinking. I know you're going to be up for that because your mouth was open the whole time, girl. Just --
marissa: I will take anything that you got, jamal. Hey, do you guys always leave your tv on like that?
Jamal: Yeah, actually, I do because we've had some problems around here, so I leave the tv on so people kind of --
marissa: Oh, yeah, I got you.
[Jamal turns tv down]
marissa: So, that motorcycle ride -- there were definitely no problems with that, huh? It was awesome!
Jamal: Yeah. Well, it usually is the first time. I can always tell when it's somebody's first time, you know?
Jamal: Yeah. No, no, I didn't mean it like that. No --
marissa: Hmm, i know. I just like seeing you blush.
Jamal: And I'm not blushing, either.
Marissa: Ok. So you were right.
Jamal: About what?
Marissa: You're good.
Jamal: You know, I've been riding my whole life, so, what do you expect?
Marissa: No, that's not why. I mean, when you're good at something, it's talent, ok? Experience -- that's just going to make you better.
Jamal: Right, ok. So is that how your riding works for you, too?
Marissa: I can get lost in it and not even realize that I've missed lunch and dinner.
Jamal: Ah. So you're a workaholic, one of those.
Marissa: Sometimes. But there's other things that i like besides work, you know?
Marissa: You. I like you, jamal.
Ian: Rafe. It's thornhart. Need to talk to you about --
[knock on door]
ian: A mutual friend. Been trying to call you. Call me back. You got all my numbers.
Rafe: We have to talk.
Ian: Yeah, I know we have to talk. I've been trying to call you for hours.
Rafe: What happened?
Ian: I screwed up. I thought I found the host for the avatar.
Ian: Ramsey. Chris ramsey -- jack's brother.
Rafe: The doctor?
Ian: Yeah. But turns out I was wrong. This avatar followed me to his apartment and bounced my head around like a basketball.
Rafe: You ok?
Ian: I'm fine.
Rafe: I actually had a little run-in with our friend myself just a few minutes ago.
Ian: He found you?
Rafe: I found him. He's staying down by the docks. He needs to be near the water.
Ian: Oh, ok. And?
Rafe: And I tried to scare him out of town.
Ian: Must've been a neat trick.
Rafe: It should've worked. You see, the avatar relies on people's complete and total loyalty to its cause, so at least now we know its true nature.
Ian: Which means?
Rafe: It means that the host, whoever it is, already has very strong ties within town. It also means that we pissed him off royally.
Chris: What? Oh, you're lancelot, right? Do you mind if i call you lancelot? Because, you know, i think you're a hero. I'm your biggest fan. I've been singing your praises in the news. You've heard about it, right? I'm -- i'm in full support of everything you do.
Chris: "Shame"? Me? Why? What did I do? I mean -- ah! Really, what did i do?
[Captioning made possible by abc, inc., And soapnet]
doree's voice: Tell me the real reason you're so interested in this guy. We'll start from there.
Chris: The press is drawn to lancelot, which means he's -- they're drawn to port charles. Now, if I can market that, I mean -- bam -- we got a gold mine. Don't you understand? That's why i want to meet lancelot, cut a deal with him.
Doree: Everyone wants to find out who he is. Well, in case you haven't noticed, he's a little hard to track down.
doree: Oh, that's the station. I got to go.
Chris: Well, can we continue this sometime?
Chris: Dinner? My place?
Andy: Ahem. Want to tell me what you're doing?
Karen: Whoa, starting tomorrow, I'm working every day next week. Ricky? Uh -- ricky, in case you've forgotten, we're not in our hotel room anymore.
Ricky: I guess I got spoiled spending a whole week in bed with you.
Karen: It went by way too fast.
Ricky: Hmm -- sleeping in late, ordering room service --
Ricky: Making love. Playing the clubs, making love. Making love --
karen: It was fun, wasn't it? Actually, it was the most fun i've had in a very long time.
Ricky: Now, you see?
Karen: Ok, I was wrong. I guess I did need to get away from everything, but you -- you were wonderful.
Ricky: Thank you.
Karen: But now --
ricky: Yeah. Back to the grindstone.
Karen: Only this time i promise not to grind so hard.
Ricky: Hmm. Well, that works for me.
Karen: Well, good.
Jamal: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Marissa: Oh, what's wrong? What's wrong?
Jamal: Um -- huh. Hmm. I wasn't expecting all this.
Marissa: Well, we've been hanging out a lot, right, jamal? And we obviously get along and we like each other.
Jamal: Yeah, I know, I know, but it's -- I don't know -- it's not like that, you know?
Marissa: Ok. Then, what is it?
Jamal: I just wasn't -- I wasn't, you know, expecting on getting involved with somebody again just yet.
Marissa: That's just something that you figure out as you go along, jamal. Ok? So how do you feel right now? Hmm?
Jack: Look, stop, all right? What do you mean, jealous boyfriend?
Alison: I don't want to talk about it anymore.
Jack: No, I do. Tell me, please. What --
alison: It's just the way that you've been acting lately.
Jack: Because I was worried when i saw you with rafe?
Alison: No, it's more than that. It's almost like you're getting territorial or something.
Alison: Yeah. Like when I was at the recovery room working the other day. I mean, you wanted to wait until my shift was done, and it wasn't, like, three hours, jack. And calling me a lot lately. I don't -- i don't know what that's about.
Jack: Alison, I call you because you're my friend, ok, and i hang out with you because i like you. And you've been going through a lot of tough stuff lately, mostly because of your pal rafe. Ok? So i've been there for you just like you were there for me.
Alison: But I can't help think that it's maybe just, you know, a little something more. And if something's going on, then just tell me. And if -- if i'm totally going way out on a limb here, then just let me know, too, and i will stop and i will shut up. I won't talk about it anymore.
Jack: Hey, hey. Your friendship is the most important thing to me and that's the truth, and i would never do anything to jeopardize that. Trust me.
Alison: Ok. I'm sorry.
Jack: Ok. Well, you better be.
Alison: No, really, I am.
Alison: I just don't want -- you know, I don't want anything, like, weird in my life.
Jack: Oh, because I'm a weird kind of a --
alison: Right, no. But you know what I mean --
jack: I know, I know.
Alison: You know what I'm talking about. I was wondering --
ian: So we've got a pissed-off avatar and it's not leaving town. Is there any good news?
Rafe: Some. See, even though i couldn't get through to it, i know the human side is still there. It hasn't completely crossed over to the dark.
Ian: And how do you know that?
Rafe: Well, it didn't kill you and it could've.
Ian: That's comforting.
Rafe: Also, it needs to find a new lair. It destroyed the old one.
Ian: I see, and it doesn't like to travel?
Rafe: Uh-uh. Doesn't like anything that forces it to change its course. See, the avatar always has a set pattern and we've disrupted that.
Ian: Which makes me think we made a mistake showing our hand.
Rafe: Not at all. See, we forced it to change tactics before it was ready.
Chris: Please, just don't -- don't kill me, ok? I mean, I might not be the nicest guy in town or everything, but, you know, I never hurt women, and that's your whole m.O., Right? I mean, I've never hurt anybody -- not physically, at least, you know. I'm -- come on, what -- what do you want with me?
Chris: Oh, my god. It's you.
Doree: What do you mean, what am I doing? I'm doing what we've all been trying to do and catch this so-called lancelot guy.
Andy: Well, it looks like you were planning on taking it home.
Doree: Yeah, well, maybe I wanted to do a little extra work on my own. So what?
Andy: So you and i both know files aren't supposed to leave the precinct, doree. I mean, the press is already barbecuing us. They get ahold of that --
doree: I forgot, ok?
Andy: Look, are you all right?
Doree: Yes, i'm fine. Why?
Andy: Well, we've worked together every day and, I don't know, lately you just seem a little distracted. Look, this is none of my business, doree, but are you seeing that ramsey guy again?
Doree: You know what, andy? You're right. It is none of your business. Here. No harm, no foul.
Marissa: Um -- oh. Oh, jamal and I just went for a ride -- on his motorcycle.
Jamal: Yeah, we're celebrating --
Jamal: The published --
alison: Yeah --
jamal: The article.
Alison: Yeah, that's ok.
Marissa: Yeah. Really.
Jack: Yeah. Kind of weird, though, huh?
Jack: Oh, it's just a private joke.
Alison: Don'T. What is not a joke is this lancelot thing and he's no human being and he's no hero, either.
Jack: What? What?
Alison: Rafe said that he was like some sort of, i don't know, avatar or something.
Marissa: Well, wait. You saw him?
Alison: Yes, up close and a little too personal.
Jack: But wait -- you could've told me --
alison: I didn't have any time to tell you.
Marissa: Well, what did he look like? Did he say anything to you? Any clue as to who he is?
Alison: No, he didn't give any mention to any of that, but he is no hero like your article is making him out to be at all. Rafe said that he was some sort of --
jack: You know what, alison? "Rafe said" -- this rafe -- how does he know?
Alison: Jack, he's a vampire slayer, ok?
Marissa: A vampire slayer?
Alison: And he stared that thing down like it was nothing.
Marissa: Jamal, this town is so cool.
Jamal: Right. Yeah. Yeah. Tell me about it.
Jack: Ok, so rafe just john wayned this guy and he took off?
Alison: Pretty much.
Jamal: Check this out.
Jack: Got to be kidding me.
[Jamal turns tv up]
reporter: Wzm has an exclusive interview --
jamal: Look, look, look.
Reporter: With a man who claims to have befriended lancelot, the superhero of port charles -- dr. Chris ramsey.
Jack: What the --
chris: Thank you, patrick. Yes, it's true.
Jack: Oh, god.
Marissa: This is perfect.
Chris: I have met lancelot.
Colleen: Can you believe this?
Chris: But to say that I've befriended him isn't quite accurate.
Karen: Got to be kidding me.
Frank: What's going on?
Karen: Ramsey's claiming he's buddies with lancelot.
Karen: Yeah. Go figure.
Chris: Why has lancelot come to port charles? Well, my answer to that is very simple -- thank god he's here.
Ian: Is this what you meant by changing its tactics?
Rafe: Yeah, maybe. What's the story with ramsey, anyway?
Ian: He's a great doctor, no scruples.
Rafe: Easily influenced?
Ian: Oh, no. No, not at all -- unless, of course, there's power, money involved.
Ian: And here i thought he was the avatar's host.
Rafe: No, not its host -- its stooge.
Chris: Port charles has been graced with the presence of a man who only wants to keep port charles safe, a man who has single-handedly brought down criminal after criminal with his own brand of tough justice and who's given this town the peace and security we have long sought. Now, many of you out there call him "the shadowy avenger" or "lancelot," as he prefers to be called.
Patrick: "Prefers"? He told you this?
Chris: Yes, he did. For reasons unknown to me -- although i'm quite honored -- lancelot has chosen me as his spokesperson. He feels he's been misunderstood in the community and wants the people of port charles to know that he is just an ordinary man seeking peace and justice for the community just like everyone else. And despite some wild claims to the contrary, he is, in fact, just a man, flesh and blood like you and me.
Patrick: Can you tell us his identity?
Chris: No, I'm afraid not. But I can tell you that he just wants peace for our town. He asks nothing in return except that his identity remain anonymous so he can continue his good work.
Patrick: Is there anything else you can tell us about him?
Chris: Well, I think lancelot's actions -- you know, they pretty much speak for themselves, and I think everyone would agree with me on that. I would like to address our community and remind them that with good fortune and progress come envious and opportunistic people with their lies and their theories and their conspiracies, and I implore you all not to listen to them. Listen to yourselves instead. The proof is in the way you feel each night when you tuck your children into bed or kiss your spouse good night, knowing that they are safe.
Ian: It's unbelievable. Sounds like ramsey's running for office there.
Rafe: Don't be surprised if he does and wins. See, that's part of the avatar's pattern, too -- to select a mouthpiece to spread the good word.
Ian: So what is this public relations?
Rafe: The whole idea is to get everyone to believe the lie -- that he's just an ordinary man seeking justice.
Ian: What was it doing at ramsey's place?
Rafe: It had already targeted him to be its champion. So far, it looks like he's doing a good job.
Chris: Rest assured, my friends, lancelot is here to stay.
Andy: Hey, doree, I'm sorry if i went over the line. But we work together and i care about you. And for my money, you can do a lot better than chris ramsey.
Officer: Hey, guys, look at this. You're not going to believe this.
Chris: Who single-handedly brought down criminal after criminalith his own brand of tough justice and who's given this town the peace and security --
doree: He's a son of a --
: Yeah. Like i said, a lot better.
Chris: "Shadowy avenger" or "lancelot," as he prefers to be called.
Jamal: What was that? You want to explain that to me?
Jack: Yeah, that's my brother making a jackass out of himself again, but what's new?
Marissa: Oh, this is awesome.
Alison: You know, I wouldn't be so sure about that. I would believe rafe faster than i believe chris.
Jack: Well, I would pass on both of them.
Alison: Jack, you weren't there.
Marissa: Hey, well, i want to be. Can you get me an interview?
Jack: An interview?
Marissa: Yeah, with your brother. Maybe he can take me to see lancelot.
Jamal: Look, I don't know if that's such a good idea.
Marissa: But, jamal, this is the story. This is why I'm here.
Jack: Well, even if chris knows this guy, he's not really good with sharing.
Marissa: Just introduce me to him and i'll do the rest.
Jack: Why does this stuff keep happening to us?
Jamal: You know what?I have no idea, bro.
Alison: I keep thinking that maybe one of these days our lives will go back to normal, but, you know, it's just me.
Marissa: Well, this may be some old news to you guys, but I'm stoked. Anyone coming or not?
Jack: Well -- yeah, why not? I guess I want to see what's going on. Let's go.
Alison: Well, I do, too.
Jamal: All right, fine. Follow me, let's go.
Jack: Come on.
Jamal: All right.
Marissa: Thank you.
Colleen: So ramsey knows lancelot. Lucky devil.
Frank: Don't tell me you've got a thing for him?
Colleen: What woman doesn't? I'm dying to know who this guy is.
Ricky: He's the grim reaper, all right? That's who he is.
Frank: What, you've seen him?
Ricky: No, not up close.
Karen: I have. A few weeks ago in the park. He helped me.
Frank: Must've been scary.
Karen: No, actually --
ricky: All right, all right, all right. You know what? The circus is over.
Karen: You know, I want to talk to chris.
Ricky: What? Right now?
Karen: Yeah. Aren't you curious?
Ricky: Hey, you know what? I could live 100 years and not give a damn about who this guy is.
Karen: Yeah, well, I'm going.
Ricky: All right, fine. I'm in.
Karen: You probably think this is silly.
Frank: I've always loved the circus.
Patrick: Thanks for coming forward and giving me the story.
Chris: Yeah, you bet. Just doing my civic duty.
Man: Dr. Ramsey?
Woman: Tell lancelot we love him.
Woman: And thank him for us.
Chris: I will.
Man: Could you get my kid an autograph? His name's ronnie.
Chris: You know what? I can see what i can do, but, you know, lancelot's going to be really busy monitoring the city.
Woman: Who's under the shroud?
Second woman: What does he look like?
Chris: Folks, can i have your attention, please? You know what? I would love to answer all your questions, but lancelot has chosen just to reveal himself just to me, so i think we should respect his wishes.
Chris: Hey! Pretty amazing stuff, huh?
Jack: Yeah. You sure you know what you're doing?
Chris: Yeah, it's the opportunity of a lifetime, bro. Opportunity of a lifetime. She's going to rip that off.
Jack: Yeah. This is my friend marissa. She would like to talk with you.
Jack: She's a reporter.
Marissa: Yeah, I will be running all my questions by you beforehand and I promise it will be very tasteful. No sensationalism or any tearjerker fluff.
Chris: How can I say no to that?
Marissa: Why, out of all the people iport charles, has he chosen you to be his only spokesman?
Chris: Well, you know, I really don't know. Maybe it's because i'm a doctor, probably one of the most distinguished doctors at general hospital. By the way, it's ramsey -- r-a-m-s-e-Y. Yeah. Make sure you got that right. I appreciate it.
Ian: Start rolling.
Patrick: What's going on?
Ian: Excuse me. Before everyone gets too excited about what dr. Ramsey is claiming, I got a question for you. How do we know you're not lying? What proof do you have that you know this -- this lancelot? Do you have a way to prove to us that you're not lying to us at all? Who is this guy? Is he one of our neighbors? One of our friends? Who is he, ramsey?
>> Stay tuned for scenes from the next "port charles: Torn."
>> On the next "port charles" --
ian: I'm warning you, ramsey.
Chris: No, I'm warning you. Hey, don't mess with me. You don't want to tangle with the guy who's got my back.
Kevin: You had a paternity test run on livvie's baby?
Lucy: I -- i was just --
kevin: Let me asking you something, lucy. When are you ever going to give my daughter a break?
