Ian: Oh, holy --
avatar: I warned you not to interfere.
Kate: Ian? Oh, my god, get away from him. What are you doing to him? Get away from him right now.
Chris: I'm not doing anything. Lady, let me just --
kate: I swear I will use this. Get away from him right now!
Chris: Ok, ok. Just take it easy, ok? I know him. Everything's fine.
Kate: What did you do to him?
Chris: I did nothing to him.
Kate: What did you do --
chris: Just give me that spray.
Rafe: Spirit -- I know you. We've met before. I know what you are and how you work -- all of your secrets.
Young rafe: I know how to follow your trail, and I know all of your tricks. I know what to do when i catch up with you. You'll see. You'll see.
Rafe: This is where it would be -- by the water somewhere. All I have to do now is wait.
Lucy: Doc, wait. You know, maybe you'd better warn livvie before we go in.
Kevin: Warn her?
Lucy: Yeah, you know, just warn her that i'm here with you, too.
Kevin: Well, I think she'd be grateful that we're both here for her.
Lucy: I know. I just -- I really would hate to think that she would think i'd send anything but good energy to that child of hers.
Kevin: Good. Well, then --
lucy: But wait. I don't want to just go in there and surprise her. It might start us off on a wrong foot, and that'd be bad. So maybe you could go in, have a little private time with her and talk to her, and then i'll be in in a minute.
Kevin: Butter her up, you mean.
Kevin: Yeah, ok.
Lucy: Yeah, mm-hmm. Ok.
Kevin: All right, i will. Don't be too long.
Lucy: All right, I won't, i promise. Ok, where's that doctor? He promised he'd be here.
Ted: Ms. Collins.
Lucy: Oh, there you are. So, are we all ready?
Ted: All set. Give the word, i'll bring in my equipment and run the test.
Lucy: Good. That's exactly what I want to hear. I really do need to find out as soon as possible that, you know, my cousin rafe -- whether or not he's the father of livvie's baby.

Chris: Thank you. What are you doing?
Ian: Never mind.
Chris: Why'd you hit me?
Kate and ian: Never mind.
Chris: What about the lock on my door? Why would you break that? And don't give me this "never mind" business.
Kate: You know, if i were you, i would be a lot less worried about the lock on your door and a lot more worried about trying to prove where you were the night of july 4.
Chris: July 4? Why? What's up with july 4?
Kate: Do you have anybody who can vouch for you when karen wexler was attacked in the park?
Chris: I don't know. What does that --
ian: There's nothing. There's no clues here.
Chris: What do you mean, "clues"?
Ian: There's no robe, no hood, no gloves -- nothing.
Chris: What does a hood got --
kate: You tell us.
Chris: What is going on? I don't have to tell you anything. I'll tell you what. Why don't you tell it to the police --
ian: Sit down.
Chris: Ok. I really enjoy being manhandled in my own apartment --
ian: Let's cut to the heart of this. When was the first time you had the spirit inside your body?
Ian: The avatar. When did you become the host?
Lucy: And we're absolutely clear on what we're doing here?
Ted: Make the test seem a normal, routine part of prenatal care.
Lucy: Right. And you're sure -- sure she won't find out?
Ted: My electromagnetic imaging system looks just like an everyday sonogram. And with that and the blood types on file, i'm the only one who can interpret the findings. If not for your funding of my research --
lucy: "Generous" is the word -- my very generous funding.
Ted: The procedure and the device might have never been perfected.
Lucy: Good. Ok. My husband is in there and my stepdaughter. You know for a fact they won't figure this out?
Ted: My professional word.
Lucy: Let's just hope that's enough, huh?
Kevin: Hi, sweetheart.
Livvie: You look worried.
Kevin: Well, that's what parents do when it comes to their children.
Livvie: There's nothing to worry about, you know. My baby, our very special child -- rafe and mine -- everything's fine. We're doing great. I mean, that's what the doctor says, at least.
Kevin: Considering the fall you took, that's nothing short of a miracle.
Lucy: Hi. Knock, knock.
Lucy: Oh, is it ok? May I come in?
Livvie: Yeah. Why not? I'm actually a little too happy to say no. My baby's safe, and rafe has been really, really wonderful -- everything i ever dreamed a husband could be.
Ted: Livvie kovich?
Ted: I'm dr. Landrum. How is our patient this fine evening?
Livvie: Fine, I guess.
Ted: Good. No surprises, then.
Livvie: Other than you. I don't understand. What is this all about?
Kevin: Dr. Neumann's her doctor.
Ted: And still is. I'm here to run a simple test, very much like a sonogram. Quite normal procedure. Nothing to worry about.
Rafe: Come on, shadow man. Where are you? I know you're close. Let's go.
rafe: There. Ok, let's go! Come on! Now! Face me! Alison.
Rafe: Alison, you've got to get out of here.
Rafe: Go. Run now!
Alison: Where am i --
rafe: Get out of here!
Alison: Ow -- what -- rafe --
rafe: Just go. What are you doing? Don't -- go!
Alison: I wanted to --
rafe: Come -- get down.
Alison: What are you doing?
Rafe: Get down! Keep your eyes closed.
Rafe: Just keep your eyes closed.
Rafe: Everything will be ok, all right?
Alison: Rafe --
rafe: Just stay down.
Man: Oh -- hey, kids. Don't mind me. You just go do what you're doing.
Alison: Do you mind telling me what's going on?
Alison: Um -- I'm sort of still waiting for an answer.
Rafe: I'm sorry.
Alison: You're sorry? Rafe, what's going on here?
Alison: Nothing? Well, I don't usually get tackled like that every day of the week, so --
rafe: Well, I just -- I thought that maybe you were in trouble, but I was wrong. I just followed my instincts.
Alison: I know. You tend to do that when --
rafe: Do what?
Alison: When you're afraid for people, you try and protect them.
Rafe: Yeah, well, I just hope you're not hurt, that's all.
Alison: No, I'm very tough. I'm fine. So, I guess it's going to be sort of weird. We're going to be running into each other a lot, I guess, then.
Rafe: Just hopefully not quite so hard.
Alison: I think this will always be hard unless one of us moves to australia or something.
Rafe: Excuse me -- australia? You can forget about that. Kangaroos give me the creeps.
Alison: Why? Ok, don't look at me because I don't want to do that whole summer switch-up winter thing.
Rafe: Ok, well, I guess we are doomed to stay here forever. Whoo.
Alison: Yeah. I think we're just going to have to try and make it bearable.
Rafe: Yeah, at least it won't be koala bearable. Did I just say that?
Alison: I think so.
Rafe: Sorry. "You know, rafe, keep your day job."
Kate: Ian, what are you talking about?
Ian: It's an avatar, an ancient spirit.
Kate: An ancient spirit?
Ian: Yeah, it's hundreds of years old.
Kate: You're saying chris is hundreds of years old?
Ian: No, I'm saying that the thing that's controlling him is hundreds of years old. It roams around the world and builds its power by dishing out justice. And everywhere that this avatar goes, it finds a human host. It takes over its body. And right now, ramsey is that host. Ramsey, if you tell us how this thing got to you, how it got into you, maybe together we can fight it. Maybe we can fight this thing. But you got to tell us. Just try. Try.
kevin: Well, that seemed ok.
Livvie: Yeah, I don't mind sonograms.
Lucy: Well, I'm so glad. Thank you, doctor, very much. I hope to be hearing from you.
Ted: I'll have these latest results ready for her file soon.
Lucy: Great. The sooner, the better, actually. Thank you so much. Ta. Isn't it great when you get news your baby's healthy, huh?
Kevin: Honey, you ok?
Livvie: Yeah. I guess I -- things just kind of hit me all of a sudden sometimes.
Kevin: Like what?
Livvie: Well, it's going to sound really silly, but I just realized what a miracle this baby is. Every baby -- they're just kind of there out of nowhere, you know? A new life comes out of the love and trust between two people and just kind of changes everything.
Kevin: You're right. Love and trust -- that's kind of what makes the world go around. That's certainly what makes a family, right?
Livvie: And just knowing how much this baby means to rafe and me -- I mean, after knowing what i just went through, thinking that I almost lost --
lucy: You know, I'm going to go find that doctor, maybe, ok?
Kevin: You know what, lucy? Wait, please.
Lucy: Doc --
kevin: Well, you would agree that this child, like all children, is a miracle, right?
Lucy: Well, yeah, of course.
Kevin: And of course you would agree that love and trust and happiness are probably the three most important things that a parent can give to a child, right?
Lucy: Right. But I also believe that love and trust and happiness -- trust, especially -- is something a child can give a parent, right, livvie?
Kevin: I couldn't have said it better. Livvie?
Kevin: Well, that's good we all agree because i was hoping we could take this to the next step. You know, you two have been a little tense with each other lately.
Lucy: Doc --
livvie: Dad --
kevin: And I just think that if you could at least come to some kind of a truce, then i could be a happy man. So, lucy -- no, don't tell me. Tell it to her. In fact, i'm going to leave you two here for a little while and see if you can work this out on your own. I'm just going to go to my office, check for some messages. And, ladies, thank you for giving it your best try, ok?
Lucy: Right. I'm trying.
Kevin: No, give it your best shot.
Lucy: Right. Ok, listen, livvie, I'm -- i'm sorry --
livvie: Yeah, save your breath, grandma. I know what dad wants, and I would rather fall down another two flights of stairs than ever call someone like you my friend. Not in this life.
Chris: Ok, let me get this straight. You actually think that I'm this --
Chris: Avatar, right. Are you out of your mind?
Kate: You know what, ian? I'm not so sure about your theory.
Chris: "Not so sure"? Oh, man, this is almost worth getting clocked over. This is the best.
Ian: Ok --
Ian: Explain this -- explain these clippings. Explain the videotapes. This whole thing is like a shrine in here.
Chris: Fine, fine. The clippings -- they're for a business proposal for some investors, ok?
Chris: Yes, investors. For "port charles, the safest town in america." Huh? That's why i haven't been at work. I've been out buying up all the vacant lots in town. Man, i'm going to be on top of the real estate market when the stampede starts for this place. Chris ramsey, real estate king. I'll be rich.
Kate: You're already rich.
Chris: Yeah, but you can never have enough. Ask any C.E.O. In america.
kate: Sounds depressingly credible.
Ian: Credible, yeah. Hello?
Kate: Do i look amused?
Ian: Right. I'll be right over. Ok, ramsey -- I'm sorry. Turns out your friend dropped off another package at the e.R. Carjacking.
Kate: Oh, let me guess. The driver was a woman?
Chris: And the avatar must have swooped in and saved her. Is that right? And you want to catch and stop this avatar because --
ian: Because, sooner or later, this is going to be out of hand.
Chris: Ah. "Out of hand." It would be out of hand getting the sleaze off the street, doing the things that the police can't do. I call that heroic. I would be proud to be this thing's host.
Ian: Are you coming?
Kate: Oh, yeah.
Chris: This is just beautiful. Hey, if you see the avatar, you know, just shake his shroud for me, ok? And tell him he's a friend of mine since he knocked you down.
Ian: That must have been the most stupid thing I've ever done.
Kate: Yeah, well, you're human. We all make mistakes. So what's plan b if he's not the host?
Ian: I don't know. The avatar could possess anyone it wants. And I don't know who it is or how to stop it.
Livvie: What are you staring at me for? We put on a good show, lucy. The audience left. Now it's your turn. So we will just tell dad that we kissed and we made up. We'll plaster our smiles on for the holidays until the turkey's gone, and, in between, I will just keep praying that you drop dead. Does that sound good?
Lucy: That -- you know what? That sounds real good. I just can't believe it. I'm stunned at myself that i almost made the same mistake about you.
Livvie: And what mistake's that, lucy?
Lucy: Forgetting for just one teeny, tiny minute that you're nothing but a manipulative little bitch. You know what? I'm not going to have that happen again. I'm not going to make the same mistake. I promise.
Livvie: Promise? That's funny, because you can't promise anything that involves half a brain because that's half your charm.
Lucy: That's almost a good one. I like that. It leads me to the fact that i was almost a minute ago going to call something off that i was just about going to do.
Livvie: Call what off? You don't know what you're talking about.
Lucy: We're friends, right? Good friends now once again. So maybe i'll just tell you what i was going to do. But -- i don't know -- that might ruin the surprise.
Livvie: What surprise, lucy?
Lucy: The doctor that was just in here -- dr. Landrum? I know him. In fact, he's a good friend of mine. In fact, he works for me. Surprise. And you know that little test you just had, that so-called sonogram thingy? It wasn't really. There's a lot more to it than that. That test will reveal the truth.
Livvie: What truth?
Lucy: Whether or not rafe is or isn't the father of that little bundle of joy you're carrying in there.
Rafe: So, you just want me to move someplace far away, huh?
Alison: Well, with everything that's gone on between us lately, I can't really imagine you being any further.
Rafe: I'm sorry.
Alison: Yeah. Rafe, we make our own decisions. You know, that's what you've always told me. And sometimes people make decisions for us --
rafe: Shh, shh, shh, shh. Don't move. Don't say a word.
Alison: Why? What's going on with you?
Rafe: Ok. Just -- just follow me.
Rafe: It's time for you to go.
Alison: It's time for what?
Rafe: No, just go. Please, hurry.
Rafe: Hurry. Go.
Alison: Rafe, what --
rafe: Trust me, ok? Go. Please. I just need to know you're safe, ok?
Alison: Ok. It's all right. I'll go. It's all right. Ok.
Rafe: Hurry! It's not all right. I wish it was, but it's not. Ok. Come on, shadow. I know you're out there. I can feel you. You bring with you the same darkness that you've spread over cities and towns for centuries. I've waited a long time for this, avatar. I've waited since childhood to see your shadow again. Come on! Come out, avatar, now!
>> Stay tuned for scenes from the next "port charles: Torn."
>> On the next "port charles" --
rafe: Too many people already know what you really are. Alison, what are you still doing here? Go now! Get out of here!
Livvie: You really don't think I'm pregnant now?
Lucy: I just don't think rafe had anything to do with it.
