Port Charles Transcript Thursday 7/11/02
ian: Whoa! Kate --
kate: Oh, watch it. Oh, ian, i'm -- I'm sorry.
Ian: I thought you were going to manhattan.
Kate: Yeah, I was.
Ian: And? That's mine.
Kate: Oh -- and now I'm not.
Ian: What happened?
Kate: I got promoted. Yeah, amanda barrington decided that the port charles office couldn't live without me, so -- big raise, expense account, big car.
Ian: Sounds great. Congratulations. Why do you look so miserable?
Livvie: Ok, so, let's see. In counting back two weeks from when my next cycle starts, which means 14, seven, three, two -- oh, my -- it's perfect. I can't believe it. It really is perfect. I'm ovulating. I'm ovulating right now, which means I've got 24 hours, a full day and night, to get my husband in my arms and -- hmm -- do what comes naturally. He already thinks I'm pregnant, so i've just got to make sure it's really true. You can do it, livvie. It's a piece of cake. All you need is a little encouragement.
Livvie: Rafe? Hi.
Rafe: Oh, hi.
Livvie: Sorry I took so long.
Rafe: No, it's ok. There's no rush.
Livvie: Is that the best you can manage?
Rafe: Huh? Oh. Sorry.
Livvie: I swear I can feel my body changing already. All over.
Rafe: What do you mean? Changing how?
Livvie: I don't know. It's just like i feel really warm and excited and it's really amazing. And I was thinking, you know, we probably conceived this baby on our wedding night. And if that's not a sign that our love was meant to be --
rafe: Livvie --
livvie: What? Don't you remember? Rafe, don't you remember how amazing that was?
Rafe: Yeah. Sure. I mean, what guy forgets his wedding night, huh?
Livvie: What is it? Something's bothering you. What is it?
Rafe: Oh, it's nothing.
Livvie: Rafe, come on. You can tell me. Come on, we said we would always be honest with each other, right? Always, remember? Tell me.
Rafe: You really sure you want to know?
Livvie: Of course I do. And if i can't fix it, nobody can. And once i do, then we can get on with our nice, long day together.
Rafe: I just feel really lousy, that's all.
Rafe: About alison.
Jack: I would ask if everything's ok, but -- what is it?
Alison: Not now, ok?
Jack: That's fine. Wait, do you want to hear about my exciting life?
Alison: Love to.
Jack: Ok. Well, there's supposedly this shadow guy, ok? And he's, like, going around beating up all these bad guys and hanging out in the park and -- so jamal and I think we've got him. Turns out, shadow guy is mort the orderly from the hospital. So we feel like a bunch of idiots. Now there's these two girls, and jamal and I are thinking, "well, hey, you know what? We're going to move on with our lives. We're going to get these girls. It's summertime. We're going to have a little fun, and -- and --" that's not so important, but, hey, alison, it's me. Just talk to me. It's ok.
Alison: I went to rafe to tell him the truth about livvie, but --
jack: But -- but what?
Alison: He just doesn't understand what she's doing to him.
Jack: Doing? What has she done now?
Alison: Livvie told rafe that she's pregnant.

kate: What are you talking about? I'm happy.
Ian: Yeah? That frown's a dead giveaway.
Kate: I'm ecstatic. Who wouldn't be to stay in a town with talking portraits and witchy candles?
Ian: You could tell her no.
Kate: Tell amanda barrington no?
Ian: Why not? What does your boyfriend think?
Kate: Well, he -- I mean, we both think it's too good an opportunity to pass up.
Kate: You don't think so.
Ian: It's not my life, is it?
Kate: But if it were, you wouldn't do it?
Ian: There was a time when i would have, but priorities change, you know?
Kate: Well, I guess that's one of the differences between us.
Ian: Can you think of another one?
Kate: None that I care to discuss right now. Besides, aren't you busy chasing things -- shrouds, shadows? Any word on our friend?
Ian: Nothing concrete, no.
Kate: But you're still looking?
Ian: Still looking.
Kate: What else are you looking for, ian?
Ian: What's that supposed to mean?
Kate: Well, you've got to be looking for something, right? I mean, I'm in port charles for the job and money. Why are you here? I mean, you've got a future, a son, a passport. You could go anywhere in the world. What's keeping you here?
Jack: Pregnant? Livvie's -- she's --
alison: Yeah, that's what she said.
Jack: No. No, she's got to be lying.
Alison: No, rafe got her a test and it was positive.
Jack: No, alison, she's got to be lying.
Alison: I'm so sorry.
Jack: Whoa, whoa, hold on one second. You're sorry?
Alison: You and livvie -- jack, I'm so sorry.
Jack: No, alison, forget about that. I have moved on, all right? Nothing surprises me with livvie anymore. This is about you. That's my concern.
Alison: I can't even believe this. I can't -- i can't get that picture, like, out of my mind. I just can't even believe it's gotten this far.
Jack: Listen to me. I'll bet you anything -- i'll bet the bike shop, i'll bet my house -- that livvie's playing that old trick in the book just trying to get him, and it's working on rafe and it's working on you.
Alison: No, he wants this.
Jack: No, come on.
Alison: Yes, he does. I promise you. He's always wanted this. He's always wanted to be a part of a family, and that's something that obviously i never gave to him, and that is something that she can hold over him.
Jack: If it's true.
Alison: What do you mean "if"? What am I supposed to do?
Livvie: You're thinking about alison now?
Rafe: It's just a lousy way to find out, that's all.
Livvie: Nobody invited her over here. And talking about a lousy thing to do, what about this? I mean, I thought you said you were committed to us and you were serious about --
rafe: Hey, hey, hey -- i am.
Livvie: Ok. Well, it's not very nice to talk about other women when your wife's trying to make love to you.
Rafe: You're right.
Livvie: It's still throwing you, isn't it? I mean, me, the baby, the wedding --
rafe: And not knowing completely who i am and not knowing how I got here and --
livvie: But you remember how you grew up -- alone, just like me.
Rafe: That never goes away, does it?
Livvie: No, which is why i want to make sure our child doesn't have to go through what we did, not having any roots or a family. Annabelle will always feel like she belongs.
Livvie: Why, you like belle? Or, I don't know, maybe madison? Madison's pretty.
Rafe: How about benjamin?
Livvie: Ben? Benjamin? What about rafe jr.?
Rafe: Oh, I don't know. I mean, maybe he'll do something noble, protect people --
Rafe: Officer rafe.
Livvie: Dr. Kovich.
Rafe: Oh, yeah. That kind of has a ring to it.
Rafe: Well. What?
Livvie: I just -- it's going to sound really strange to you, but talking about the baby like this for the first time, it just -- it feels so -- oh, i don't know.
Rafe: Are you ok?
Livvie: Yeah. Would you do that, please?
Livvie: Yeah, right there. Just -- just a little lower.
Livvie: Yeah, that's good. A little bit lower.
Livvie: Yeah, just -- just like that.
Ian: It's a tough question, counselor.
Kate: No, ian, it's an easy question. Why would you stay here with all this supernatural stufing on?
Ian: It's complicated.
Kate: I can follow. Keep going.
Ian: After eve died, I did go back to ireland. I did want to stay there. I took danny with me. I wanted him to see where his dad was from. I don't know, I thought it'd be a good place to start over.
Ian: But it wasn't my home anymore. I don't know, maybe it never was. I travel a lot, you know? Lived in all different places. Maybe I never had a home until I found this place.
Kate: Strange as it may seem.
Ian: Strange as it may seem, yeah. The love of my life was here, my son was born here, and i know the few friends i have are here. I always thought i'd spend my whole life just traveling from town to town, you know, but it doesn't always work out that way.
Ian: Sometimes your home chooses you.
Woman: You've got a visitor, dr. Thornhart.
Ian:Hey. Is everything all right? Woman: He took a little spill in daycare. He's fine, but i thought he wanted to see his daddy.
Ian: He's trying to choke you at the same time. Let -- let -- release the woman. Hey, are you all right? What happened, little man? Huh? What happened to you? Did you hit your head? Whatever it is, we're going to make it better, all right? Oh, this woman right here, that's kate reynolds. I know she looks a little scary, but she's all right. What do you think?
Kate: Don't answer that, danny.
Ian: I think he likes you.
Kate: Yeah, right. Look at that. I mean, he's just fine now.
Ian: Did you want that?
Kate: It's amazing what the right touch can do.
Ian: Well, there's nothing more magical than finding comfort in the arms of someone who loves you. He's that way.
Kate: It's been a long time since I felt that.
Ian: I thought you had somebody.
Jack: Hey, hey, just calm down, all right? You're barely out of the hospital and you do not need to get worked up like this. Ok?
Alison: Hmm, i just -- just cannot believe that this has gotten so out of control.
Jack: Yeah, I completely agree with you. It would have been a lot better if rafe would have never come back here.
Alison: This isn't rafe's fault, jack. I mean, he is just as much livvie's victim as we are. I mean, he came back and he was completely confused and everything, and she totally twisted everything up.
Jack: Ok, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. You're right. But you're never going to get through to rafe if livvie's all over him. You need to be alone.
Alison: Well, I know, but how?
Jack: I haven't got a clue. Oh, the barn. That's, like, a special place, isn't -- uh, sorry.
Alison: No, not the barn.
Jack: Ok, why not?
Alison: Because they got married there.
Jack: That's a terrible idea, bad idea. Uh -- um -- oh, no, that's a bad -- there's got to be someplace, you know? I mean, someplace that was special.
Alison: Well, actually, wait a second.
Jack: Well, what? You know something?
Alison: Yeah, there was my nana's attic. I mean, I'm sure livvie would never go there, right?
Jack: Done. You get there, and i'll take care of rafe. All right.
Alison: Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Alison: How are you going to convince rafe to do anything? He's not going to believe anything that you say.
Jack: Would you just get out of here and let me handle the rest?
Alison: Are you sure?
Jack: It's as good as done. You just find a way to the attic, and let me take care of rafe.
Livvie: Oh, rafe. I love being your wife. You make me feel so --
rafe: No -- wait.
Livvie: No, what is it, sweetheart?
Rafe: Are you sure this is ok?
Rafe: I mean --
livvie: God, yes, of course. We can do anything we want.
Rafe: You don't have to make an appointment with the doctor first just to be sure?
Livvie: No, we can't, no. No, honey.
Rafe: We can't?
Livvie: I mean, honey, that's very sweet, honest. But trust me, everything's going to be fine. Nothing would make me feel better than being close to my husband right now. Ok?
livvie: No, no, rafe, don't get it. Don't get it. Just stay here. Please, honey, please. Rafe, please, rafe!
Rafe: I'll just a minute. Hello?
Jack: Hey, rafe --
rafe: Who's this?
Jack: It's jack, jack ramsey.
Rafe: Well, what the hell do you want?
Jack: Um -- look, hey, don't hang up, all right? I need you to go over to the barrington house right away. Amanda barrington's?
Rafe: What happened?
Alison locked herself in the attic, and she's really upset, and -- and I just -- I just think that you should be there.
Rafe: Is she ok?
Jack: She sounded pretty desperate. I think she's just really upset. Listen -- look, you know what i think of you, all right, so i wouldn't be calling you if it wasn't serious, would I?
Rafe: Al right, listen, I'll be right there.
Livvie: What? Now where are you going?
Rafe: Just -- I'll be back.
Livvie: What, rafe, what is it? Rafe, come on! You can't leave.
Rafe: I'll explain when I get back.
Livvie: Ugh! God!
Kate: What is this, a cross-examination?
Ian: We're just asking a simple question.
Kate: Well, what i meant to say is this is the longest that brennan and i have been apart since we got together. I'm not a mysterious woman, ian. I know that might not fit in around here.
Ian: No, no, no, no. Mysterious women are overrated.
Kate: I'll try to remember that.
Ian: So if you're going to stick around for a while, maybe you can give frank and me a hand with some social service issue that we have at the hospital. And maybe we'll meet this brennan guy.
Kate: Yeah, that'd be terrific.
Ian: Yeah? When is he coming to visit?
Kate: Oh, gosh, you know what? I am late with this paperwork for mrs. Barrington, so you take care, danny, and i will see you later, ian.
Ian: Huh. What do you think, little man? I think she's lying to us. I think there's plenty of mystery going on.
ian: I know. Let's get out of here. Come on.
Livvie: Come on, rafe! What is taking so long? You know, if you're with alison, I will just --
livvie: God, what am i worried about? Because I don't have to worry so much anymore. It's not --
livvie: I mean, what is she going to do, kidnap him or something?
Jack: Rafe, hey, you made it.
Rafe: There's a lot of hallways, man.
Jack: Yeah. Look, I guess I should thank you for coming.
Rafe: No problem. Where is she?
Jack: She's in there. She's really upset. Look, I really can't get through to her, so good luck.
Alison: Rafe, is that you?
Rafe: Yeah. Jack said that you might want to talk or --
alison: Rafe, hi.
Jack: Here you go.
Alison: Jack, what are you doing?
Rafe: Jack, what the hell --
alison and rafe: Jack!
Jack: You guys have fun.
Rafe: Come on! He locked the door. Actually locked the door. We're -- we're stuck.
>> Stay tuned for scenes from the next "port charles: Torn."
>> On the next "port charles" --
karen: That shadow thing is what saved me.
Ricky: What? You mind telling me why I didn't know about this?
Alison: You are being played for a fool.
Rafe: Livvie's my wife.
Alison: She's also feeding you with a bunch of lies, and I think, deep down inside, you really know it's true.
