Karen: So, does this make me a bona fide groupie?
Ricky: I knew there was a good reason I joined that band.
Karen: Uh-huh. You know, you must think I'm a basket case, telling you one thing and then doing this.
Ricky: Hey -- do you see me complaining?
Karen: You know, I meant it when I said not again.
Ricky: Yeah, I know. But why do we have to set any rules?
Ricky: You don't have a good reason, do you?
Karen: I have lots of them.
Ricky: Uh-huh, yeah.
Karen: I just can't think of them right now.
Ricky: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Karen: Especially when you're looking at me like that.
Ricky: Like what?
Karen: Like that.
Ricky: I don't know. I just -- we just go with it. Karen, why can't you just admit it?
Karen: Admit what?
Ricky: That there's something happening between us and neither of us wants to stop it.
[Knock on door]
Ricky: Come here.
Frank: Karen, it's me.
Kate: Alison and I were supposed to discuss trial strategy after the party. Where is she?
Ian: I saw her tear out of here earlier, but I don't know where she went.
Kate: She knew this was important.
Ian: I'll wait with you if you like.
Kate: No. Waiting's not the point. Doing something to keep Alison off death row -- that's the point. But she doesn't seem interested. She's acting like this is happening to somebody else.
Ian: It's a good thing she's got you fighting the good fight, then, isn't it?
Kate: Yeah, well, the state's got a box full of physical evidence, and what do I have? A few crackpot theories and a client who lives in fantasyland. I'm good, but I'm not that good. Where are you, Alison? What could be more important than staying alive?
Alison: Rafe? Rafe!
Ian: Hey. You all right?
Alison: Um -- yeah. Listen, earlier I thought that I saw Rafe through the window, so I came out here, and I found this.
Alison: "So?" Kate, the pink roses -- that's our flower. He left it for me.
Ian: So, what are you saying? You're saying --
Alison: I'm saying -- yes -- that he was here. Rafe was here.
Kate: Then where is he, Alison? Why isn't he here with you right now? You have got to stop chasing this ghost. Your life is at stake. Doesn't that matter to you at all?
Rafe: Getting married -- you think that's the answer?
Livvie: I know it sounds crazy --
Rafe: Yeah --
Livvie: Rafe, but it's not. We would -- we would already be husband and wife if you hadn't disappeared.
Rafe: What do you mean?
Livvie: We were about to be married. The wedding was just a few days away.
Rafe: Married? You and me -- we were going to be married? I don't remember that. That's great.
Livvie: But you will, Rafe. You will.
Rafe: All right, how? What happened?
Livvie: Before you disappeared?
Livvie: Well, the last thing I remember -- the last -- the last night we spent together -- you brought me flowers. Pink roses, of course, because they're my favorite. And -- and we made love. And then afterwards, you held me so close to you, and we talked about what it would be like to be married -- the wonderful life we'd live and the beautiful children we'd have. We were so happy. We were happy, Rafe.
Rafe: I should -- I should remember this. I feel like something's missing.

Frank: Karen, please, I have to talk to you.
Ricky: I'll handle this.
Ricky: Karen, we don't have to hide from him, ok? I'm not going to let him hurt you.
Karen: Just get out of sight, ok? I'll answer it.
Ricky: Is that what you're afraid of? You're afraid of frank seeing me?
Karen: Not like this. Please?
Ricky: Karen, you're free to see whoever you want.
Frank: Karen, please. This is really important. I saw your light on from outside. I know you're home.
Karen: Look, we'll talk about this later, all right? Just -- just go, please.
Ricky: No. No, ok? The last time you guys were together, the guy attacked you, ok? So I'm not going anywhere.
Frank: I'm not going to hurt you, Karen. I swear to God.
Alison: Rafe is not a ghost. He is real, and he was here. I'm sure of it.
Ian: Kate --
Kate: No. No, we need to discuss this. So let me get this straight. Rafe lets you catch a glimpse of him, disappears, and then leaves you a pink rose -- to what? Torment you?
Alison: He would never do that.
Alison: Look, there's just -- there's got to be some other explanation, ok?
Kate: Then what is it?
Ian: Can you give her a break. We're not in court. Ok, counselor?
Kate: But we will be soon, and you need to be ready. So, what's the other explanation, Alison?
Alison: It's against the rules, Kate.
Alison: Well, just know that -- I can't tell you. You wouldn't believe it anyways, and I can't -- you just -- you wouldn't understand it, ok? Just know that Rafe is not playing games with me.
Kate: Ok. Maybe your mind is playing tricks on you, Alison. You miss Rafe, you want to see him here, so you conjure him up.
Alison: He was here.
Kate: Fine. Whether he was or he wasn't, he is not here with you right now. But what you do have are friends who have been busting their butts trying to help you. And every time we start working on something for your case, you get a premonition or a feeling or a sign or something, and you are chasing after Rafe. You have got to stop chasing after a dream and start fighting for your life, or you can kiss your future goodbye.
Alison: It wasn't a dream, Kate.
Kate: You know what? When you are ready to start working with me, give me a call.
Alison: She just doesn't understand. She doesn't understand that I would give absolutely anything for just one more chance, for just one more moment. I miss Rafe. She just -- she just doesn't understand.
Ian: I do.
Livvie: This is what's missing, Rafe. We have both been holding back, and it's keeping us from getting back to where we were.
Rafe: Yeah, but getting married?
Livvie: Look, I know -- I know it sounds sudden, and I've been waiting to tell you, but I can't wait any longer. We can't keep waiting. We have to live the life we were meant to.
Rafe: I'm just not sure this is it.
Livvie: And I am just as sure that it is -- more than I have ever been sure about anything. Because if -- if we get back on the path we were on, I know everything will start coming back to you. I know if we pick up where our lives left off, everything -- it'll get back to normal. Rafe, you proposed to me.
Livvie: You wanted me -- me -- to be your wife.
Rafe: Livvie -- Livvie --
Rafe: Just -- just -- can I think about this, ok?
Livvie: Ok. Take all the time you need. Ok?
Livvie: You were right, Mama. After everything Alison's taken from me, I deserve Rafe. And I am going to have him.
Frank: Thank you for opening the door.
Karen: What did you want?
Frank: I figured out what's been going on with me.
Karen: I thought we already figured that out before, Frank, with the candle, but --
Frank: But I still acted that way. I know. But now I know where it's coming from. The candle may have triggered it, but once the memory was out there, I guess I couldn't push it down anymore.
Karen: What are you talking about?
Frank: When I was a kid, I -- I saw something I wasn't supposed to. I saw my mom with another man.
Karen: You never told me about this.
Frank: I never remembered it until now.
Ricky: Is this guy for real?
Frank: My dad -- he came home from one of his drinking binges, and he found them. He -- he pushed my mom around and called her names -- the same names I was calling you. I guess I buried the memory. Not deep enough, though. But -- but the way I acted had nothing to do with you, and I want you to know that. There isn't a woman I respect more.
Karen: Well, I'm so glad you figured it out, Frank. Now you can deal with it and -- and get better. But that doesn't make what happened between us go away.
Frank: I know.
Karen: You should probably go.
Frank: Were you already in bed?
Karen: Uh --
Frank: You never go to bed this early. Are you all right?
Karen: No. No, I think I'm coming down with something. You -- you really should go.
Frank: Well, let me get you settled in first, make sure you're --
Ian: I understand what it's like to want to give everything that you have for one more moment with the person you love.
Alison: Right. Of course you do. You just -- right. I'm so sorry. I've been completely self-centered and selfish --
Ian: No, no, no, no, no --
Alison: You should understand that better than anyone.
Ian: I'm not saying that. I'm just telling you that I -- I understand because, when Eve died, all I wanted to do was sit in a dark room at home with Danny and her memories, and that's it.
Alison: Yeah. See, that's kind of like me at the barn with Rafe.
Alison: Yeah. I just really wanted to feel close to him, you know?
Ian: No one's asking you to stop loving him.
Alison: Well, it kind of feels like that. I mean, everybody's saying, "Just let him go," and all this stuff, but I can't.
Ian: People are worried about you.
Alison: I know.
Ian: We all are -- we're all worried about you. And, you know, young Kate -- she comes on a little strong, but she's right. The rest of your life's riding on this.
Alison: I know. But how do you -- how do you go on without the person you love?
Ian: I don't know. I don't know. I do it for Danny, for Eve. Because I think of her looking down from heaven, seeing me giving up, and that would break her heart, you know.
Ian: Can't do that. I didn't know Rafe, really, but I don't think he'd want you to throw your life away. I think he'd probably want you to fight with everything that's in you to get your freedom back. Letting go doesn't mean forgetting, Alison. It just means you allow yourself to live your life for you, the people who depend on you.
Rafe: Ok. I asked Livvie to marry me, to be my wife, and I still don't remember that. That's great. That's -- that's really great. It doesn't make any sense. What am I saying? Nothing makes any sense.
Livvie: I'm sorry.
Rafe: Sorry -- no, don't.
Livvie: No, Rafe, I'm being selfish, and I shouldn't have asked you for something that you're not ready to give me.
Rafe: You're not -- you're not being selfish --
Livvie: No, I keep pushing. I keep pushing you, and I'm trying to be patient. It's --
Livvie: So much has happened. My mother is in a coma, I just lost my dad, and the person I thought was my best friend killed him. I've just been feeling so alone, like there's no one on my side, no one left in this whole world who cares about me, until I found you. You didn't even recognize me, and you believed in me. And you've protected me. And you're trying so hard to love me the way you used to. When you disappeared, I -- I never thought I'd be happy again. I thought the dream of spending the rest of my life with you was gone. That's all I ever wanted, Rafe, was to be yours. And I can't lie to you. Rafe, I still want to be your wife.
Frank: You don't want me to come in?
Karen: I --
Frank: I get it.
Karen: You do?
Frank: You're still scared of me. And I don't blame you. And I may think I've got this all figured out, but that doesn't mean you're sure it won't happen again. I want to be sure of that, too.
Frank: I need the candle. That's what opened all this up.
Karen: Well, it's still at the lab. I'll have them send it to you.
Frank: That's not all I need.
Karen: Oh, my God -- you want to light the candle with me there?
Frank: I know it's a lot to ask.
Karen: Uh -- uh -- Frank, what if you're wrong? What if you lose it again? Can you guarantee that?
Frank: No, I can't. I can't, and that's why I hate even asking you this, but it's the only way I'll know it's over. I'm sorry, Karen. Will you -- will you just think about it?
Karen: Yeah, I'll think about it.
Ricky: You'll think about it? You'll think about it? You're as crazy as he is.
Karen: I owe it to him.
Ricky: Karen, you don't owe him a damn thing, ok? I'm not letting you do this.
Karen: Excuse me?
Ricky: No way.
Karen: Let me tell you a little something you might not know about me, Ricky. A few nice evenings in bed does not allow you or anybody else to tell me what to do or how to live my life.
Ricky: Fine, fine. Well, let me now tell you a little bit about me, ok? When I'm with a woman that I care about, somebody tries to hurt her, they got to go through me first. So you want to go do this Frank thing? Fine. But I'm going to be there.
Ian: All right, enough of this. Let me drop you at Jack's on the way home, ok?
Alison: Yeah. Actually, I think that I might like some time here by myself. You know what I mean?
Ian: Know what you mean. Think about what I said.
Alison: I will. Thank you for understanding.
Alison: Oh, Rafe. I keep on getting all these signs that you're sending me. But I just don't understand. I mean, if you're back, then why aren't you here? And what is keeping you from me?
Rafe: I don't want you to be sad. I want you to be happy. I want us to be happy, like -- like we were before.
Livvie: Rafe, I am so sure this is the way.
Rafe: You know how much I want to remember. Do you know? Do you know how much? I just want -- I want to look at you and -- and remember everything and feel everything that I used to.
Livvie: And it'll all -- it'll all come back, I promise you. If we get married like we were going to, how could it not, Rafe?
Rafe: Well -- well -- well, I'm just -- I'm starting to think that maybe you're right. Maybe if we -- we pick up where we left off, things --
Livvie: Oh --
Rafe: Will come back.
Livvie: Oh, you don't know how much this means!
Rafe: Ok, wait -- wait.
Livvie: What? What?
Rafe: There's something I have to do before we move on together.
Livvie: Ok. What is it?
Rafe: Well, there's someone that I can't get off my mind. And I just need to know why. So before you and I get married, I -- I have to talk to Alison.
>> On the next "Port Charles" --
Ian: It's time to give Dr. Collins back. He's got people waiting.
[Noise] Doree: What was that? Hey, where's your friend?
