rafe's voice: "It's finally here, the big night. After weeks of work, it all comes down to one last chance. I'm telling you, as battered and beaten as all these people may be, if they're not in each other's arms by the end of this night, well, they never will be."

Rafe: Oh. I just -- I wish i could just shake them, you know, and let them know how lucky they are to have love in their lives. I wish i could just -- this is crazy, but i wish I could just stand up at the top of the highest building and just shout out that there's nothing more important in heaven or earth than just be able to look deep into the eyes of the one you love and tell them, and -- so many people are given that chance, and -- and, wow, it's -- it's the ones that don't pass up on that opportunity that are truly blessed, huh?

Valerie: How long are these tests going to take to come back?

Gabriela: They take as long as they take.

[Phone rings]

valerie: Is it the doctors? Do they have an answer?

Jamal: Valerie, would you get a grip? Why would the doctors be calling me when they're just down the hall somewhere?

[Ring]

jamal: Ali, hey.

Alison: Just checking in. How are you and gabby?

Jamal: Yeah, we're fine. I'm glad you called us. I need to hear your voice right now.

Alison: Yeah, yours, too. How's hope?

Jamal: She's in with the docs and the hartmans, and we're out here with cold coffee and stale doughnuts -- me, gabby, and --

alison: Valerie?

Jamal: Yeah. Yeah, we're still waiting to see any of us are a match, so it shouldn't be that much longer.

Alison: Well, my flight is out at 9:00, so I'll be there soon, ok? I can't wait to see you.

Jamal: Yeah, me, too, baby. I really need you here. Bad.

Alison: I need you, too. I'll be there soon, ok? I love you.

Jamal: Love you, too.

Alison: There's just one more thing that i got to do before i go.

Don: Start bringing everything in. You know where the kitchen is.

Kevin: Don?

Don: What?

Kevin: Is lucy here?

Don: Easy. I just got here myself.

Kevin: Well, she said to meet her here. That was supposed to be over an hour ago.

Don: You know lucy. She's probably getting her hair done or something. I told her last week to go britney with the do.

Kevin: Well, people are going to start showing up pretty soon. She's cutting it a little close.

Don: Oh, please. As if she'd miss her special day for anything in the world.

Kevin: What? What do you mean?

Don: Well, I mean -- well, you know lucy, how she loves christmas and parties.

Kevin: Uh-huh. Well, I was hoping to get her alone before everyone got here.

Don: Oh?

Kevin: Just some important things i need to talk to her about.

Don: Oh, yeah. Yeah, I just bet there are.

Kevin: Excuse me?

Don: Oh, nothing. Look, I've just got to go check in those orders -- sign lucy's name --

kevin: Don. Don -- is it me, or are you acting, well, stranger than usual?

Don: Must be the season, I guess.

Kevin: Come on, lucy. Where are you?

Lucy: That's mine. I got the window. You didn't. Oh, sorry.

Ht attendant: Esesesdaesesgegegentntntntntntntnt W esready to leave as soon as everyone takes their seats.

Lucy: Pardon me. Don't worry. I will settle down in just a minute. You know, flying and all. So, is this your first trip to hawaii?

Man: No.

Lucy: Really? Me, too. You know, my serena -- that's my daughter -- she decided to spend a few days at christmas, you know, with her dad, wanted to spend christmas. That's ok with me because i decided to do something I've always wanted to do -- you know, go away, get away from all those people in port charles that just suck the life out of me 52 weeks a year. Well, and anyway, I had this great big christmas party thing planned with my fian-- my ex-fiance, and it's not going to happen. So you know what i say? Seize the day. Find your own happiness. That's what I'm going to do. You know what? Merry christmas to all those people in port charles. Merry christmas and a good night to them because they're going to have that party without me. It's my party. If i don't want to show up to that party, i say i don't have to, right? I'm going to show them. I will just show them all, don't you think? Ha!

lucy: I want you to be honest with me. I really want your opinion. I mean, you are a man, right?

Man: Whatever you say.

Lucy: Right, so, I mean, now that we've established you're a man, you can tell me -- how is it possible that a guy, a man, can say, "i love you madly, i'm in love with you," and in the next minute be making eyes at another woman? It doesn't make any sense. You know, not that me and doc -- you know, us -- we've had our problems and all. I did sleep with ian. I admit that, you know, and I think we were working through that. There were reasons. But I'm a sucker. Do you see what I'm saying? I am a big sucker, right? Be brutal. Just hit me in the face with it. Say it -- I am a sucker. Don't say it. No. I'm not. I'm just -- I was just hoping, you know, that doc was going to do it, you know? We were finally going to get married, but -- oh, I'm a chump! Say that -- "you are a chump because you're not going to show up, though." I'm not doing it.

Man: Miss? Headphones, now.

Lucy: I'm not going to show up at that miserable party and let doc say he loves another woman and make a fool --

flight attendant: And, miss, would you?

Lucy: No. Heck, no. I've seen that ridiculous movie. It's no good anyway. You know, the wife does the murder. She kills him, so I think it stinks. Just like the party's going to stink, right? Don't you feel that? It's going to be the biggest dud that port charles has ever seen. I'll show those people. They're not going to have me to kick around anymore, you know? Ta and double-double ta. And if doc wants to hang out with that scarf-wearing slut, let him. I don't need him, never have, never will. I'm going to have the merriest christmas I've ever had, you know, in my whole life ever. Ever!

Kevin: Yes, yes! Just go through there -- talk to don, he'll sign for everything. Why do they have to deliver everything at the last minute?

Lucy?

Serena: Hi, kevin.

Kevin: Hey, sweetheart! Oh, look at you! Oh, hey, wait a minute. Lucy told me that you weren't going to --

serena: That i wasn't going to be here.

Kevin: Yeah.

Serena: Because I was going to be with dad. I still am for the rest of the holiday, but I talked him in to letting me come here.

Kevin: I'm glad because, you know what? Your mom's going to need you tonight.

Serena: You mean to help?

Kevin: I mean, because she loves you like nobody else in the world.

Serena: You and me, you mean. You better get dressed and i'll go check on the G.P.S, ok?

Kevin: G.P.S. G.P.S? Oh, grandparents. Right, right. Ok, kids grow up. People change. I guess everything does.

Woman: Did I hear "change"? As in, maybe you should, dr. Collins?

Kevin: Yeah, so everyone keeps reminding me. She upstairs?

Woman: And waiting.

Kevin: Tell her i'll be right up, then. This isn't how i wanted do this, lucy.

Rafe: You're not dressed. I mean, of course you are, but not for the party.

Alison: Yeah, this time. Actually, no. I -- i'm not going to the party.

Rafe: Oh, well --

alison: Yeah.

Rafe: Well, you'll miss the grand finale.

Alison: I'm going to take off for chicago. But I -- i didn't want to go without telling you how much you've -- you've touched my life. You know, rafe, so many horrible things happen sometimes, and it's kind of hard to l past them. But I think that if I ever forget what a wonderful place this world is, i'll -- i'll just think of you and i'll remember.

Rafe: Well, thanks.

Alison: You know, you're really special. You're -- you're special to me.

Rafe: You're the special one. More than you know.

Alison: Well, thanks for always making me feel that way. You know, it's just that whenever i'm with you, I sort of --

rafe: I --

alison: Yeah. I'm sorry. I know you have to get to the party, so i kind of don't want to keep you. I just sort of wanted to say that i --

rafe: Don't -- don't go yet. Um -- I still have a lot of time, and -- and --

alison: And?

Rafe: Well, I want you to know what i'm planning for the party tonight.

Alison: Oh.

Rafe: Yeah. It's a big surprise.

Alison: Well, you know that i love surprises.

Rafe: You're going to love this one, then. You ready?

Alison: Yeah.

Jamal: Oh, man. This is a killer.

Gabriela: The hartmans will let us know as soon as they can.

Valerie: I know we told them we'd wait, but i can't. I need to see hope.

Jamal: You do what you want to do. I already learned that.

Gabriela: So is there anything i can do?

Jamal: What, are you kidding me? You hopped on a plane and got tested, gabby.

Gabriela: Well, what are sisters for?

Jamal: So you'd donate a kidney to some little girl you've never even laid eyes on, huh?

Gabriela: That little girl is my niece, jamal. And you're the one person who never gave up on me, even when i gave up on myself. What kind of a sister would I be if i said no?

Jamal: I won't forget this.

Valerie: Well, so much for that idea.

Jamal: Hey. What's up? How's hope?

Valerie: Sleeping. I just peeked in and turned right around.

Gabriela: How'd she look?

Valerie: So small.

Jamal: Valerie, come here. Come here.

Valerie: Jamal --

jamal: Come on, girl. It's going to be ok, all right? Hey, it's going to be ok. She's going to be fine. All right?

Alison: Oh, that sounds awesome! I can't believe that i'm going to miss that. I mean, that's going to be a night that everyone is going to talk about forever.

Rafe: If i can pull it off. There's still a lot of things that could go wrong.

Alison: No. No, they won't. I have faith. I have faith in you.

Rafe: Well, thank you.

Alison: Wow.

Rafe well, what? Hey --

alison: Oh, nothing. I just -- I just wanted to get a -- a good picture of you in my mind before i left.

Rafe: Don't worry. You'll see me again.

Alison: Oh. In --

rafe: Yeah.

Alison: Yeah. Well, I'm sure that they've missed you while you've been down here.

Rafe: Well, I'm not so sure about that.

Alison: What's it like there? I mean, can you tell me, or --

rafe: It's different for everyone.

Alison: Well, promise to show me around if i get there?

Rafe: When you get there. But you still have a lot of time. Just use it wisely.

Alison: I will try.

Rafe: Hey, if my being here made your life harder in any way, i don't know if i --

alison: No, no. I -- I wouldn't trade a single second of the time that we spent together, not for anything.

Rafe: Me, neither.

Alison: Well.

Rafe: Well, um -- I guess this is it. Have an amazing life, alison.

Rafe: Well, good-bye.

Lucy: Hey. Ugh. You know, what i'm saying is all those -- those idiots, ungrateful idiots back in port charles can just kiss my fruitcake. You know, they're going to be sorry. When they find out i'm gone, I'm gone for good. I am not coming back. They're going to be very sorry. I'm not going back even if they get down on their knees.

Kevin: Lucy. Lucy, please forgive me.

Lucy: In your dreams. Ee a that other woman meant nothing to me.Ha pity.

Lucy: Oh, don't worry. I pity you. Pity, pity, pity.

Kevin: But if you don't come back to me, how can I live? You know i'm useless without you.

Lucy: That's so true.

Kevin: Lucy, without you, my world is so empty. My universe is empty.

Lucy: Pity, pity, pity. I -- i guess your punishment for being so cavalier with my deep, deep feelings is having to live all alone without me.

Kevin: Lucy, please. I'm begging you. Lucy, I'll do anything.

Lucy: Ok. Start with my foot and work your way up. I love this.

Kevin: Please?

Lucy: Ooh. I love it.

[Noise]

lucy: Oh. Wow. Oh, hello. What -- what happened to the man that was sitting there? You know, the one with the headphones. Oh, don't tell me -- he asked to move seats, huh?

Woman: No. I've been sitting right here since we took off.

Alison: Ok, chicago. Here i come.

[Phone rings]

alison: No, that can just wait until i get back.

[Ring]

alison: Fine. I'm in a hurry. What do you want? Hello? Yes, this is her. What? No! I have to get to chicago for christmas! Can't you put me on another flight or something? I -- well, the weather's that bad? I mean, can't you -- no. Yeah, thank you for calling. Oh, jamal.

Valerie: Thanks.

Gabriela: You're welcome.

Valerie: I mean it. I don't know what I'd do if i had to go through this all by myself.

Gabriela: Well, you don'T. As far as I'm concerned, you're family, too. Right, jamal?

Jamal: Yeah. Yeah, whatever our problems were, none of it matters now.

Valerie: Just our child. Just our little girl.

Jamal: Yeah, our little girl.

Dr. Hartman: All right, people.

Jamal: Hey, dr. Hartman. You got the results?

Valerie: I'm a match, right? Hope's going to be ok?

Dr. Hartman: I'm afraid not.

Valerie: Not?

Jamal: Yeah, and what about me?

Dr. Hartman: Neither one of you are a match.

Jamal: Wait, wait, come on.

Valerie: No.

Jamal: There's got to be some kind of mistake.

Dr. Hartman: There is no mistake.

Valerie: Oh, god, jamal.

Gabriela: Guys, I'm so sorry.

Dr. Hartman: Don't be. There's still good news.

Jamal: Well, what?

Dr. Hartman: We did find a match for hope.

Valerie: What? You did? Jamal!

Gabriela: Don't just stand there. If it's not jamal or valerie, who is it?

Dr. Hartman: It's you, gabriela.

[Music plays]

rafe: Goodvening! Merry christmas!

Lee: Well, merry christmas. We were expecting kevin.

Rafe: Well --

gail: Or lucy. Isn't she here?

Serena: She doesn't know i'm coming. I want it to be a surprise.

Rafe: You know what? I won't say a wo but they're not here yet. They're on their way. Why don't you guys go in, enjoy yourselves, and I'll let you know when she gets here, ok?

Gail: Ok.

Serena: Thanks.

Rafe: All right.

Gail: Come on, serena.

Mary: Oh, wow. Rafe! What on earth are you doing here?

Rafe: Well, I'll tell you what, mary -- people ask me that question all the time. Merry christmas.

Mary: Merry christmas.

Victor: Where are kevin and lucy?

Rafe: Uh, fashionably late.

Mary: To their own party?

Victor: You know what? For the past few hours, I've had the distinct feeling that something's going on.

Mary: I think it might be that gallon of eggnog you consumed in record time.

Ian: All right.

Rafe: Eve, you look spectacular.

Eve: Thank you, rafe.

Ian: What about me?

Rafe: You look -- you look marvelous.

Ian: Nice, right? I'm not one for the monkey suits, but, anything for a good party. Lambert?

Eve: Monkey?

Ian: Come on.

Rafe: Ok. That's it, boys and girls. Show us how it's done.

Ian: Sorry.

Eve: Ow.

Kan: Hey, rafe.

Frank: Hey. Are you subbing for kevin and lucy?

Rafe: Well, yeah, I'm doing the best i can, but they'll be here.

Frank: So official festivities still haven't started. Then there's still time to stake out a festively dark corner.

Karen: Oh, with mistletoe?

Frank: Who needs mistletoe?

Livvie: Rafe?

Rafe: Don't ask. They'll be here. The heir way, ok?

Chris: You look like a leprechaun with that stupid beard on your face.

Jack: Uh, all right, all right.

Chris: Hands off, private ramsey! This costs more than you do!

Jack: Let's go.

Livvie: Cursing chris into telling the truth and nothing but was an inspired idea.

Rafe: Well, just consider it my small contribution to holiday cheer.

Livvie: Well, I think this is going to turn out to be one heck of a party.

Rafe: Livvie, yohave no idea. No want you to go in there and celebrate.

Livvie: Ok, I think I will, but I want to thank you for the very warm welcome. You are such an angel.

Rafe: Ah. Ok. Now, kevin and lucy. It's showtime, folks.

Kevin: Lucy and i were supposed to meet earlier. It didn't happen. But I've got to tell her tonight. We -- we can't put this off any longer. Now is the time. This isn't going to be easy. But in the end, it'll be all right.

Lucy: Wait a minute. This looks different. What -- that lady wasn't there. This doesn't look -- ok, wait. No kidding. Where -- where did you come from?

Woman: Beaverton, oregon.
