Frank: More coffee?
Karen: No. One more cup and I'll be bouncing off the walls.
Frank: Oh, we'll just wait a few more minutes.
Karen: Face it, Frank. I think you've been stood up by a 16-year-old.
Frank: Cookie said she will be here, and she will. Just give her a few more minutes. Hello. Hello, there.
Rhonda: Well -- hi. Hi. I didn't expect to -- ahem -- see anyone I knew here.
Frank: Well, we're -- we're waiting for a friend.
Rhonda: Well, like the old song goes -- o/~ you got to have friends o/~
Cookie: Ok, Frank. I'm here. Where are you?
Alison: Come on, let's count it again.
Jack: Alison, we've already counted it a dozen times. There's 25 Gs in the bag.
Alison: I know. I want to see it again. I want to smell it.
Jack: You going to call Jamal, tell him some stranger sent you a fortune in a post office box?
Alison: A stranger? Oh, no way, Josť. This is the handiwork of Nana. This is, like, tip money to her.
Jack: So, what, are you going to call and thank her?
Alison: No. I'm going to tell her that I can't take it.
[Monitor alarm sounds]
Eve: She's in arrest. Where's the crash cart?
Colleen: It's on the way.
Eve: Where the hell is it?
Eve: Give her 60 milligrams lidocaine, I.V. push.
Ian: Wait a minute.
Chris: What the hell's going on? I thought she was stable.
Ian: She was stable. We gave her the hepatin and she crashed.
Eve: I gave it to her. If anything happens to Arianna, I'm to blame. Here we go. Charging, 200.
Eve: Clear! Come on. Don't you die. I'm not going to let you die. She's still in v-fib. Hyperventilate her. Charging, 300.
Jack: Hey, hey. Would you just cool it a minute and think about what you're doing?
Alison: All I'm saying is that I'm not going to take her bribe money. What do you think that you're doing?
Jack: Hey, no. I'm keeping you from making a big mistake.
Alison: Jack, this money is from Nana.
Jack: Who obviously went to a lot of trouble to make sure you'd keep it no strings attached.
Alison: There are always strings with Nana.
Jack: Alison, your grandmother just had a heart attack.
Alison: I know, and I'm so grateful that she is ok.
Jack: And she almost bit the big one, all right? That really can shake a person up. Maybe your nana has changed.
Alison: What, you think this is, like, the start of a kinder, gentler Nana?
Jack: It's possible.
Alison: It's not like this money wouldn't come in handy.
Jack: Yeah, it might.
Alison: Well, we did sort of make up.
Alison: So do you think I should keep it?
Jack: Alison, Alison, Alison. You could wait tables for a million years and never make this kind of money.
Alison: No, it's just that I don't want to hang on to Barrington money.
Jack: Well, hey, then spend it. I mean, fix the shop up, make it a place that you want to hang out, like you always wanted to make it. And, of course, you can give your nice buddy Jack a big raise.
Alison: Well, I could use it to make a really sweet cafe.
Jack: Yeah. And when you start making a profit, you can pay your grandma back, with interest, if that will make you feel better.
Alison: Well, there's just only one hitch, though, because the note said I can't tell Jamal.
Jack: So don't tell him. You know, at least for the time being.
Alison: Well, how am I supposed to explain where all this money came from? Sofa cushions?
Jack: Well --
Jamal: What money we talking about?
Rhonda: So, I had this great idea, you know. Maybe I'd go to the movies, you know, maybe enjoy myself a little.
Karen: You just left my place, Mom. You never mentioned anything about seeing a movie.
Rhonda: Oh, yeah. Well, I didn't really have the idea till I left your place. You know, just a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing.
Karen: You are the least spur-of-the-moment person I know.
Rhonda: Well, what, you have to give me the third degree every time I have an idea? Stop giving me that look.
Karen: What look, Mom?
Rhonda: You know, that look like I've done something wrong.
Karen: Ok. How many have you had tonight?
Rhonda: I don't know what you're talking about.
Karen: Yes, you do. You've been drinking.
Rhonda: Karen, please.
Karen: No, I know the look and the signs. I've been there before, remember?
Frank: How about some coffee?
Karen: How many drinks, Mom?
Rhonda: Ok. All right. I had one or two. No big deal.
Karen: You know it is!
Rhonda: Ok, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do it, all right? I know it was stupid.
Frank: Look, maybe I should be going.
Rhonda: No, no, no, no, no. You can stay. You know, when you make a mistake, you have to own up. Karen, there is not one day in my life when I don't wake up and I don't want a drink. I can usually resist it.
Karen: You just worked so hard to stay sober. What made you fall back?
Rhonda: I guess it was all that talk about my sister Carolyn.
Karen: I know you were upset about us finding the picture of her tonight.
Rhonda: It was all those memories, looking at you, remembering how much you looked like her. I couldn't deal with it.
Frank: So your sister died before Karen was born, right?
Rhonda: Yeah. I know it was a long time ago, but I miss her so much. That's why I wanted to come to Kelly's tonight.
Frank: Why here?
Rhonda: Because Carolyn used to always come here, and we came here after the funeral.
Karen: Mom, we need to get you some help. We need to get you into rehab.
Rhonda: I don't need to go into rehab. You're making such a big deal about one little slip.
Karen: This is a big deal. You were sober for so long. You can't just --
Rhonda: Ok, I'll just go home, all right? I'll have a good night's sleep --
Frank: No --
Rhonda: And I'll feel better in the morning.
Frank: Listen, I'm going to let you guys talk for a minute.
Rhonda: No, don't go. Come on, don't go, Frank. She'll gang up on me and she'll --
Karen: I am trying to help you, Mom.
Rhonda: Honey, I already apologized to you. You're making a much bigger deal out of this. Just give me another --
Karen: It is a big deal.
[Monitor alarm sounds]
Eve: She's in v-fib. Charge to 360.
Ian: Mix up a dopamine drip. We'll need it when we get her rhythm back.
Chris: If we do.
Eve: Shut up, Ramsey. We are not losing her. Come on, Arianna.
Gabriela: She's still in v-fib.
Eve: Fight. Charge to 360 again.
Ian: Thank God.
Gabriela: We've got normal sinus rhythm -- with pulses.
Chris: Good save, everyone.
Eve: All right. Now all we have to do is wait for the hepatin to take effect.
[Monitor alarm sounds]
Ian: She's seizing.
Eve: Oh, God, no. No, this will kill her. Oh, my God. Arianna. Come on.
Jamal: So what money are we rapping about?
Alison: Oh -- well --
Jamal: What, did you win the lottery or something? Because I'm telling you, that is the only way we are going to see some serious cash around here.
Alison: Yeah, that's funny that you mentioned the lottery, Jamal.
Man: Can someone look at my bike? The engine's all messed up.
Jamal: Oh, yeah. Yeah, right away, bro.
Man: A couple of my buddies were in here before, said they were served some food while they waited.
Alison: Oh, yeah. Actually, that was just a one-time thing.
Man: Oh, too bad. I heard the food was real good. Almost better than the service.
Man: No offense.
Jamal: None taken, my man. So why don't you show me your wheels?
Jamal: See what we can do for you.
Alison: I know what you're thinking, Jack.
Jack: So, shoot.
Alison: You're thinking that if I tell Jamal about the money now he's going to insist that I -- that I return it. But if I don't tell Jamal, at least for right now, I could really use that money to make this place into a hit, and I could pay Nana back using the profits.
Jack: I was thinking that, huh?
Alison: Yeah. I mean, you did hear the guy?
Jack: Yeah. I mean, he was practically begging for food.
Alison: Exactly. And, you know, if I didn't tell Jamal, I mean, would it really be so bad? It is for his own good.
Jack: So you're not really lying. You're just postponing the truth.
Alison: Yes, because I am doing this for Jamal. And for us. And for our future. How can that be so wrong?
Karen: Let's get some coffee in you.
Rhonda: No, no, I'm fine.
Karen: You're not. Drink up.
Rhonda: Listen, I apologize, Karen, ok? This is never going to happen again.
Karen: Just drink your coffee.
Rhonda: I can't believe I had a drink. I mean, I was doing so well.
Karen: You know, you can't blame this on anyone or anything.
Rhonda: It's just that I had put the whole Carolyn thing out of my mind.
Karen: And then I found the picture and started talking about her.
Rhonda: Yeah, that's why I came here. I felt that maybe I could be close to her or maybe I could undo that terrible thing that happened years ago.
Frank: What happened?
Rhonda: It was all my fault.
Karen: What was?
Rhonda: Carolyn's death. It was my fault my sister died.
[Monitor alarm sounds]
Chris: I'm having trouble ventilating her.
Eve: Two milligrams lorazepam.
Gabriela: I've already got it.
Ian: Saturation's dropping.
Chris: Any other ideas?
Ian: We've tried everything.
Eve: What is happening here?
Chris: What's happening is this woman is going to crash if we don't stabilize her.
Ian: What are we missing?
Eve: She could be seizing because of a drug-induced metabolic lactic acidosis.
Gabriela: I'll get ABGs.
Eve: No, there's no time for that. I'm going to give her an amp of bicarb. Get out my way.
Chris: Wait for ABGs.
Eve: I am sure. Thank you.
Gabriela: We've got sinus tach.
Colleen: B.P.'s 93/49. Quick thinking.
Ian: Well done, Lambert.
Chris: Vitals are good.
Ian: Welcome back. You gave us quite a scare.
Ian: Thank you.
Jamal: So, let me just get this straight. An old bond your parents gave you when you were kid just now cashed out.
Alison: Mm-hmm. It's a total bolt out of the blue. I mean, I am just as surprised as you are.
Jack: Pretty good luck, huh?
Jamal: Yeah. Look, I thought we weren't taking anything from your family.
Alison: Oh, no, this is mine, free and clear. And, plus, it'll be enough money so we can start the cafe and everything.
Jamal: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down, Spunky. I mean, this 25 Gs is some major bank, ok? I mean, that could be a fat down payment on a house. I mean, and you need a decent pair of wheels, too.
Alison: Look, forget about what I need, ok? This is what I want -- a successful business, something that we can call our own.
Jamal: Yeah, yeah, I know, but I just don't want to get in over our heads. Ok, that's all I'm looking out for, Spunky.
Alison: I know, I know. But if I didn't think big in the first place, then we wouldn't even be here.
Jack: Jamal, she's got a good point.
Alison: Listen, Jamal, I believe in you, and I believe in us. I mean, think of all the things that we can accomplish. The sky is the limit.
Jamal: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I'm surprised you're stopping at the sky.
Jack: So it's settled. You'll supply the talent and I'll supply the charm.
Alison: We don't pay extra for charm, Ramsey.
Jamal: So this is what you want, huh? A cafe in the middle of some old funky garage? I mean, spark plugs and carburetors mixed with those fancy lattes of yours?
Alison: This is my dream -- working here with you.
Jamal: All right, well, will you at least take tonight just to just think it over, you know, before you dive right in?
Alison: Yes, I will think about it.
Jamal: All right. Cool. Look, I got to get back to my customer.
Jamal: All right.
Alison: Wait, wait.
Alison: I love you.
Jamal: You're in luck because I love you, too.
Jack: Well, that went well.
Alison: I am going to make this work. You can count on it.
Gabriela: She's sleeping quietly now.
Chris: Yeah, it was real touch-and-go there for a while.
Gabriela: But she survived.
Chris: This time. Let's just hope the drug does its work.
Gabriela: Well, it'll help her body heal so her system's ready to accept a liver transplant.
Chris: Yeah, but all we have to do now is find a liver donor for Arianna. It won't be easy with her blood type.
Gabriela: But Eve did a great job.
Chris: Yeah. She fixed Arianna. But who gets to fix her?
Karen: Mom, you never told me you were responsible for Aunt Carolyn's death.
Rhonda: It's always been hard for me to talk about.
Frank: Sometimes it helps to talk about it. Look, if I'm in the way --
Rhonda: No. No, no, no. Stay. Well, you know, when you're a teenager, you think you're going to live forever. But you're just fooling yourself. Carolyn and I were supposed to go out that night.
Karen: That's when you came here to Kelly's?
Rhonda: Yeah. Except I didn't show up. I backed out at the last minute. I was hanging around school, you know, waiting for some stupid guy to notice me, so then, I canceled at the last minute.
Karen: What happened then?
Rhonda: Well, Carolyn stayed there and she ran into some friends, and they wanted her to go to the movies, so she did. And as she was leaving, she was crossing the street -- I think it was at First and Washington.
Karen: Hey, it's all right. Go on.
Rhonda: She got hit by a car. She died.
Karen: Hey, I am so sorry.
Rhonda: You know, had I been here, she wouldn't have left. I didn't show up.
Karen: Hey, you weren't to blame, ok?
Rhonda: I know. People have always said that, but you know what? I didn't believe them. And I still don't. I'm going to go to the bathroom.
Karen: I'd better take her home.
Frank: We'll take her home.
Karen: No, it's better if handle this one alone.
Frank: Hey, look, I am sorry for dragging you down here looking for Cookie.
Karen: Yeah, well, if I hadn't been here, I wouldn't have seen the state my mom was in.
Frank: Yeah. It's been almost 30 years and she's still devastated.
Karen: Well, I'll get her through this. I always do. Frank, look, I'm sorry Cookie was a no-show.
Frank: Yeah, yeah, maybe you were right. I'm beginning to doubt this kid even exists.
Cookie: Hey, Scotty.
Rhonda: Thank you.
Karen: Ok. Let's take you home.
Rhonda: Ok. Hey, I'm sorry I messed your date up.
Frank: No, no, no, don't worry, don't worry. Just feel better, ok? All right.
Frank: Cookie, you were here. But this looks like it was carved years ago. How could that be?
>> On the next "Port Charles" --
Lucy: If anybody's going to be thanking anybody in the morning, I think it's going to be you thanking me.
Frank: We can fight this thing together, Karen. All you've got to do is let me.
Eve: You told me that we couldn't be together. I'm ready to listen now.
