Sam: The police cadets are graduating today. I have to be there. What's going on? Is Spike with you?
Jessica: No, I'm here alone. I left Spike. I'd like to come back home, if you'll let me.
Sam: Honey, I -- I really don't know what to say.
Jessica: I know. And I wouldn't blame you if you said no. I've done some really terrible things.
Sam: Sweetheart, I wasn't going to say no. Are you sure you can do this? I mean, you've tried to leave Spike so many times before.
Jessica: Yes, I know. But this time it's for real. I don't want to live my life that way anymore. I'm sick of hating myself. I'm sick of knowing how disappointed you are in me. I just really want to come home and start over. I can be a good person again. I know I can be. So, um, will you let me come in? Can you find it in your heart to forgive me, and let me come back home?
Kay: You know, there's got to be a way to prove that you and Luis are both innocent.
Miguel: I know. And Ethan's doing his best to find out. Luis and I are both being set up.
Kay: But who would do something like that? And why?
Miguel: I don't know. All I know is I might not have that much time left with you. So instead of feeling guilty and wasting all that time, I think you and I should be making the most of it.
Kay: You're right.
Miguel: I love you. I love you more than anything.
Kay: I love you, too.
Fancy: Thank you for sending Sheridan home, Chief. I should be the one to stay with Luis.
Sam: Just remember, you're here as his police guard.
Fancy: Yes, I know.
Sam: Then you know you have to treat him as a suspect, not a man you're in love with.
Fancy: I know, Chief.
Sam: Good. It doesn't matter whether you think that he's innocent or not. Luis has been charged with some very serious crimes. So it's up to you to make sure that he doesn't escape again. Do you understand?
Fancy: Chief, I promise I'll be professional.
Sam: You better.
Fancy: Luis, I know I have to be professional. But I will never believe you're a criminal. I know in my heart you didn't do any of the things you're accused of. You couldn't have. But there's something else going on here. Something big and terrible. Something that seems to be out of our control.
Noah: What's the matter?
Paloma: I don't know. I felt -- such a horrible feeling. Like ice water running down my spine.
Noah: What do you mean?
Noah: Paloma, what's the matter? What's wrong?
Paloma: I had a dream.
Noah: What? Come here. It's ok, it's just a dream, all right?
Paloma: Yeah, but it was horrible. I dreamed about that creature. That half-man, half-woman we saw at the carnival.
Noah: It's ok. It's nothing to be afraid of. Just a dream.
Paloma: I'm sorry. But it was just so scary. Who was that?
Noah: I don't know. We looked all over the funhouse. We didn't find anyone.
Paloma: That's even spookier. It's like whoever it was disappeared into thin air.
Noah: Come on, don't let it upset you, all right? It was just a dream. Nothing to be afraid of.
Paloma: I'm sure you're right. But I can't help feeling that whoever or whatever it was was evil. Pure evil. And I don't think we've seen the last of it.
Theresa: No, you can't do this.
Ethan: Theresa, who is it?
Person: I can do whatever I want, Theresa. I told you to stay away from Ethan. He's mine. But you've disobeyed me. So now, your brothers will pay.
Theresa: No. No, please.
Person: You knew the consequences. But you couldn't stay away from him. I warned you, didn't I? So now, you've sent one of your brothers to prison for life, and the other to his death.
Theresa: God, no. Please don't do this.
Ethan: Theresa, is that that sick pervert. Is that -- give me the phone. Give me the phone.
Theresa: No, you can't do this. And you can't -- why are you doing this to me?
Person: You know why. And you have no one to blame but yourself. You could have controlled yourself. But you didn't. Instead, you behaved like the cheap slut that you are. And thanks to your selfishness, your brothers will be destroyed. I will go forward with my plan. Ethan will know that he's Little Ethan's father. And I will make sure that your brothers' lives are over. There's nothing you can do to stop me.
Noah: Today is a day to celebrate. I could be wrong, but isn't today your graduation day?
Paloma: Yeah. Yeah, that's right. I'm going to graduate from the police academy. I'm going to be an officer of the law.
Noah: I fear for the criminal element in this town.
Paloma: They'd better look out. Another Lopez-Fitzgerald is coming after them. I can't wait to see Luis. He'll be so proud of me.
Noah: I know I am.
Fancy: Hi. How are you feeling?
Luis: Much better, actually. You're a wonderful sight to wake up to.
Fancy: How can you be so sweet to me? I'm the reason you're in here. I'm the one who shot you, Luis.
Luis: Oh, stop. You were just doing your job. And you didn't know it was me you were shooting at, right?
Fancy: I'm just -- I'm so sorry.
Luis: Don't be.
Luis: Stop. Stop apologizing, ok? You've been through terrible trauma. You're still healing, I understand.
Fancy: But I love you, Luis. I don't want you to think it's you or that I don't trust you.
Luis: I don't think that. I know it's going to take some time. I'm willing to wait. However long it takes.
Fancy: Thank you.
Luis: I know your scars aren't going to heal overnight. I want to help you.
Fancy: Luis, I should be helping you. You're facing terrible criminal charges. And I know you're innocent.
Luis: You have no idea how much it means to me to hear you say that.
Fancy: I wish I could do more than just say it. I wish I could have your arms around me. I wish I could kiss you.
Luis: It'll happen.
Fancy: You are so wonderful. I wish I could show you how much I love you.
Luis: I love you, too. Anyway, you show me all the time. Like, when you just shot me. I'm kidding. Hey, we're going to be together. For now, it'll just be words. Anyway, that's enough for me.
Fancy: That's more than enough for me.
Theresa: I made a mistake, ok? I made a mistake, and it's never going to happen again.
Person: [Chuckling] Do you think I'm stupid, Theresa? Why should I believe a word you say? Why should I trust you to keep your word?
Theresa: Because I will keep my end of the bargain. I swear I will.
Ethan: You already married Jared. What the hell does he want from you?
Person: Shame on you. Now you've upset Ethan. I can hear how upset he is. Pity you can't tell him about your problem. Not without telling him the truth about his son.
Theresa: Please --
Person: Forget it. You broke your promise. Now I'll keep mine. All you had to do was marry Jared and leave Ethan alone.
Theresa: But I married Jared.
Person: Yes. You did marry Jared. But that didn't stop you from jumping into bed with Ethan. And that's exactly what you were told not to do. Now, you force me to move up Luis and Miguel's trial dates.
Theresa: No, you can't do that.
Ethan: Enough of this. Give me the phone. Listen. Leave Theresa alone, you got it?
Person: Ethan. Darling. How nice to hear your voice.
Ethan: What the hell do you want?
Person: You, of course. And I will have you. Soon.
Ethan: It's never gonna happen. Do you hear me?
Person: We'll just see about that.
Ethan: You know what, you are the sickest bastard I --
Theresa: What have I done to my brothers, Ethan? Their lives are over because of me.
Jessica: I want to change, Daddy. Will you have me back?
Sam: Nothing would make me happier. You are my little girl. And I love you so much.
Jessica: Daddy, you mean it?
Sam: Sweetheart, you don't know how many nights that I have prayed for this moment. Sweetheart, this will always be your home. You'll always be wanted, needed. Come in. Come in, come in. Are you hungry? I can whip up some eggs. My famous omelet.
Jessica: No, I'm not hungry. It just feels so good to be home. I love you, and I am so sorry.
Sam: Listen, you don't need to apologize, ok? I am just so happy that you are home. What made you decide to come back?
Jessica: I don't know. It was just strange. I had a sort of vision. I saw the way my life used to be. And I saw the way it could be again. I started to hope that maybe it wasn't too late for me. That maybe I could make my life better.
Sam: It's not too late. And you can make it better. Jess, we are family. We are here for you.
Jessica: Thank you. Thank you.
Sam: Welcome home. Welcome home.
Kay: I wish we could just stay here. Away from the world, forever.
Miguel: Really. You don't think you'll get a little hungry?
Kay: I just hate the thought of losing you again.
Miguel: I know. We've been kept apart for so long. It's just -- you know, it's just not fair. Honey, you have a message.
Kay: That's ok, don't check it. I don't think I could handle any more bad news.
Miguel: How do you know it's bad news?
Kay: I don't know. It probably is.
Ethan's voice: Hey, Kay. It's Ethan. I'm actually leaving this message for Miguel. But I've been thinking about yours and Luis' cases all night. And I've decided I'm not going to let this blackmailer win. Theresa's committed to letting me use all the latest Crane technology to find out who is setting you and Luis up. We have time before you go to trial. So I don't want you to lose hope, man. Not giving up. Not by a long shot. We can win this, and we will. I'll talk to you later. Bye.
Miguel: You see? It was good news.
Kay: Yeah. I'm so glad Ethan's working on your case. He sounds really positive.
Miguel: And you know what? He's right. Ethan will have enough time to find out who's behind all this. My trial's not going to be for several months from now. And by then, Ethan will have enough information to get me cleared. And you and I and our beautiful daughter Maria can be the family we've always wanted. Ok?
Fancy: Ethan left me a message this morning. He's not giving up on you, Luis. He's going to find the person who's doing this to you, and to Miguel.
Luis: If anyone can do it, it's Ethan, right? He's the best.
Fancy: Yeah, right. And he's got time on his side. You won't go to trial for several months.
Luis: Yeah, see, a lot can happen in several months. Hey, I just remembered. Isn't today graduation ceremony from the academy?
Luis: Yeah? Well, so what the hell are you doing here? You need to go before you miss it.
Fancy: I'm not going.
Luis: Why not?
Fancy: I don't want to leave you.
Luis: No, no. You need to go. You have worked way too hard for your badge.
Fancy: It doesn't matter. You have to have a police guard. And I don't want anyone else doing the job.
Luis: Listen. I'm sure they can send someone else from the station down here to baby-sit me. You need to go to your graduation.
Fancy: Luis, no. I want to stay with you. There's nowhere else I'd rather be.
Paloma: Knock, knock.
Noah: May we come in?
Paloma: Congratulations. We did it. We're now two of Harmony's finest. Look, it's official.
Luis: We were just talking about it. Sis, I'm so proud of you. I know how hard you've worked for that.
Paloma: Well, I had to live up to my brother's reputation.
Luis: I'm not so sure you want to do that right now. Anyway, I'm proud of the both of you.
Fancy: Thank you.
Paloma: We missed you at graduation. But I wanted to make sure you got this. Cadet Crane, you are now Officer Fancy Crane.
Fancy: Paloma, thank you. I can't believe it. I really did it. Now nobody can ever call me a bimbo heiress again. I have a real job.
Noah: Congratulations, Fancy. I'm happy for you.
Fancy: Thank you, Noah. That means a lot to me.
Fancy: Isn't it beautiful?
Luis: Mm-hmm. So proud of you. You are gonna be a great cop. You already are.
Fancy: Thank you. That means everything to me.
Noah: And I am proud of you, too. I think now I'm going to call you "officer mighty mouse."
Paloma: Oh, I can take you down any day of the week.
Noah: Trust me, I know. I am really proud of you.
Luis: Did I mention to you how proud of you I am?
Theresa: He said it's over, Ethan. He's not going to give me another chance. He said that he warned me to stay away from you. That I didn't listen, and now Luis and Miguel are going to suffer the consequences.
Ethan: I would really like to know how the blackmailer has all this information. How the hell did he know that we were here?
Theresa: I don't know. He knows everything that I do. He knows where I am. He knows every move I make every second of the day.
Ethan: God, if I didn't know that Alistair was dead, I swear I'd think that he was behind this.
Theresa: He's evil, Ethan. He said that he wants to move up Luis and Miguel's court dates.
Ethan: No, wait. That's not even possible. Because the trial is months away.
Theresa: He said he was going to make that happen.
Ethan: It can't, it can't. Number one, I know Judge Reilly's calendar is full. Neither I nor the prosecutor have had time to develop a case. It's legally impossible for him to move the trial dates up. That can't happen.
Theresa: I hope you're right.
Ethan: I'm right. I know I am right. We're gonna beat this. We're gonna win. Don't worry.
[Cell phone rings]
Ethan: Ethan Winthrop.
Judge Reilly: Ethan. It's Judge Reilly.
Ethan: Judge Reilly. How may I help you, sir?
Judge Reilly: Well, you can be in my court this afternoon -- after lunch.
Ethan: Um, uh -- this afternoon? May I ask what this is regarding, sir?
Judge Reilly: Well, it's regarding your clients, Luis and Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald. I'm holding a hearing.
Ethan: A hearing? Why?
Judge Reilly: Well, I'm moving up their trial dates.
Ethan: You -- you can't --
Ethan: Oh, Theresa.
Theresa: Oh, my God. What was that all about?
Ethan: That was Judge Reilly. The blackmailer was right. He's trying to move up your brothers' trial dates.
Theresa: Can he do that?
Ethan: I -- I don't know. I gotta go to a hearing this afternoon. But I can file an emergency motion before the hearing.
Theresa: Will that do any good?
Ethan: I don't know. This whole thing reeks. The judge has got to know that this whole thing stinks. I mean, it's railroading innocent men.
Theresa: Do you think -- ok -- what if he doesn't agree with that?
Ethan: I don't know. I'm going to file a motion anyway. But we gotta get dressed. And we gotta get to Judge Reilly's office right now, ok?
Person's Voice: Good job, Judge. You know how to make things happen.
Judge Reilly: This is insane. How can I justify bringing two high profile cases to trial so quickly?
Person's Voice: Come, come. You're an intelligent man. I'm sure you'll think of something.
Judge Reilly: Well, I'm not a magician. And Theresa Crane will be fighting this with everything that she's got.
Person's Voice: She has nothing. She has no power compared to me. I hold all the power. And don't you forget it. I control you. I control Theresa. I control everyone in this town. And I'll destroy anyone who gets in my way.
Sam: There. It'll be a roaring fire in a minute.
Jessica: What are you doing? Why did you make a fire?
Sam: Open that suitcase. Take out your clothes.
Jessica: My clothes?
Sam: I want to put an end to your life with Spike. I want you to burn all the clothes that he bought you. Then, you would have really come home. Really decided to change your life.
Jessica: But I won't have anything to wear.
Sam: I saved all of your clothes in case you decided to come home.
Jessica: You did? You really did want me to come home.
Sam: You have no idea. Now, I think that we should get rid of these things. Because they're just going to remind you of your past.
Jessica: Yeah, you're right. It's over.
Jessica: I can't believe I ever wore this. Ok. Goodbye. I'm done with you.
Sam: Good girl.
Sam: Hey. You're going to start your new life.
Jessica: Yes. Yes, I am.
Fancy: Thanks again for bringing my badge.
Paloma: Listen, all the new cops are getting together later to celebrate, if you want to come.
Luis: You should go, Fancy. You deserve to celebrate.
Fancy: I'll think about it, but I need to be here for now.
Luis: I'm sure that Sam will send someone to replace you. Fancy's here to make sure that I don't escape.
Paloma: How are you, Luis? This must be so difficult for you.
Luis: Yeah, it's difficult because I'm stuck here, and not able to find the person who's doing this to me.
Noah: Luis, I know Ethan is doing everything he can to find something that will help.
Paloma: I know you and Miguel are both innocent. And we're going to help Ethan prove it.
Luis: Thanks, sis.
Noah: All right, well, we should go, let you get a little rest.
Luis: Thanks, Noah. Have fun at the party.
Paloma: Maybe we'll see you later?
Fancy: Maybe. Have fun.
Paloma: I feel so bad for them. They were waiting for this day. They fell in love, but they couldn't be together. And now they still can't. My brother is under arrest. And Fancy is still trying to get over being attacked. It's not fair.
Noah: No, it's not.
Paloma: You and Fancy were lovers. Does it bother you that I'm talking about Luis and Fancy?
Noah: Um -- no, actually. No, I'm completely over Fancy. And I'm not sure if you know this, actually. I have another young woman in my life. She's quite special to me. And she makes me very happy.
Paloma: I'm glad. I wish Luis and Fancy could be as happy.
Noah: You know, I just got an idea. I think we can do a little something to make them a little more happy. What do you say?
Fancy: This day was supposed to change everything. We were going to go away on a romantic trip, remember?
Luis: We still will go away, someday.
Ethan: Judge Reilly?
Judge Reilly: What on earth do you think you're doing?
Ethan: Judge, you denied my motion to postpone the hearing on the Lopez-Fitzgerald brothers.
Judge Reilly: That's right, I did.
Ethan: But you moved the trial dates up. I haven't prepared a defense yet, sir.
Judge Reilly: Well, you snooze, you lose. I believe that the district attorney is prepared to go ahead.
Ethan: No, I don't think so. And I don't think this is right at all.
Judge Reilly: I am sorry. I am sorry. My decision is final.
Theresa: Judge Reilly, excuse me. You know that I have it in my power to make it worth your while to reconsider.
Ethan: Theresa --
Judge Reilly: Trying to bribe a judge is a felony, Mrs. Crane.
Theresa: I'm not trying to bribe you, Judge Reilly. I'm simply appealing to your better side to give my brothers a fair chance to defend themselves. Now, you'll be rewarded in many ways for your fairness.
Judge Reilly: Well, um -- no, I'm sorry. As I said, my mind is made up.
Theresa: You know what? Let's just cut to the chase then, shall we? I know things about you. Things that could be detrimental to your career. Your marriage. Your life. Would you like those things exposed?
Judge Reilly: I don't respond well to threats, Mrs. Crane.
Theresa: I know you, Judge Reilly. I know that you have very expensive tastes. So how the hell are you turning down what I am willing to pay you? And if I tell the world what I know about you, what I have learned in Alistair's files, you will lose everything.
Theresa: Oh, my God. The blackmailer got to you. He's forcing you to do this.
Judge Reilly: I don't know what you're talking about.
Ethan: You're right. He's terrified.
Theresa: He's everywhere, Ethan. He's controlling everyone. Whoever this person is, their power is stronger than ours.
Jessica: This was a great idea, Dad. I feel so free. And I never have to think about the past again. Just the future.
Sam: That's right. The only thing that matters right now is what you do from here on out. And I know you're going to make the right choices.
Jessica: Yeah. Yeah, I will.
Sam: Jessica, honey, are you sure you're ok? Are you sure you're not sick?
Jessica: You know, I think it's just the smoke. I think I should take a walk and get some fresh air.
Sam: Jess. You will come back?
Jessica: I promise. I'll be back in a few minutes.
Jessica: Thanks for everything.
Miguel: Kay, what else can you do? You know you love me. You know you can't stay married to Fox. I just don't understand how you can even think about going back and sleep in the same bed with him.
Kay: I know, I -- I don't know -- he's just been so sweet to me, and he's been going through all of this. I just don't want to hurt him.
Miguel: Well, he's going to be hurt whether you tell him now or later. What if he finds out on his own? How is that going make him feel?
Kay: Oh, God. That would be awful.
Miguel: It'd be terrible. And it would be incredibly painful. But he will find out, Kay. And I'm sorry, but I can't keep hiding the way I feel about you.
Kay: I know. You're right, I -- I just hate to do this to him.
Miguel: Hey, look at me. Do you want him to feel like a fool when he realizes you're not in love with him?
Kay: But I do love him. I do. It's just -- I mean, it's not the way that I love you, obviously. But I do. I just -- I just don't want to hurt him.
Miguel: Well, then just be honest. Do him a favor and just tell him the truth.
Kay: I know I should. I just hate hurting someone that I love.
Theresa: It's over. The blackmailer won, Ethan. He set up my brothers. He blackmailed me to keep us apart. And now the judge is afraid to defy him.
Ethan: We're not going to give up. I'm not going to give up. We can fight this, and we can win.
Theresa: No. It's hopeless.
Ethan: Judge Reilly. This is confidential between the three of us. We all know you can be persuaded. Why don't you just name your price? Don't let this blackmailer win.
Judge Reilly: You know, you're either incredibly naive, or not very bright. How do you think I can fight -- how do you think I can fight this person when even Theresa Crane can't? My God, man. I would take the money if I could. But I don't have any choice.
Theresa: Of course you do. You could stand up to this pervert and help us.
Ethan: You could do the right thing.
Judge Reilly: I am doing the right thing for me. Now, my decision is final. And I will see you both in court this afternoon.
Judge Reilly: Oh, God forgive me.
Jessica: Did you think I wasn't coming back?
Sam: I didn't know what to believe.
Jessica: I'm really sorry you were worried. But, Dad, I mean it. I'm never going back to Spike or that life. I'm here for good, if you still want me.
Sam: Of course I do. We all do.
Sam: I'm gonna go to the garage and get your old clothes, ok?
Jessica: Ok, thanks.
Jessica: Ok. This Clearblue test is supposed to be really accurate and easy. One step and that's it. No, this is silly. I can't be pregnant.
Kay: Ok, I guess all I have to do is find Fox and break his heart.
Miguel: Hey, look, I know it's not easy. But you're doing the right thing.
Kay: I know. I just don't want to hurt him.
Miguel: Look, this guy had no qualms about lying to you, Kay. He pretended to be dying of this fatal disease, just so you'd marry him. Please, don't let your tender heart ignore these facts.
Kay: I'm trying not to. I really am.
Miguel: Ok, good. Listen, don't worry about us, ok? Ethan is doing his best to get rid of this blackmailer, or whoever it is that's setting Luis and me up. And once he does, you and me, we can start living our lives like normal people. Ok?
Kay: Mm-hmm. What's this?
TV announcer: We interrupt the sixth hour of the Today Show to bring you this breaking news. In an unprecedented move, Judge Reilly has called a hearing for this afternoon in the cases against Luis and Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald. The brothers are accused of felony crimes. And this unexpected hearing can only be bad news for the Lopez-Fitzgeralds.
Luis: Hey, don't be sad. We've got so much to look forward to. Once I'm healed and cleared of these charges, we will go away on that romantic trip, ok? And it won't hurt to make plans for someday, right?
Fancy: Luis. You have to be cleared. I have faith in Ethan. I know he will find a way to prove you didn't do any of it. And I know you're not the one who -- who hurt me.
Luis: I could never do that to anyone. Especially not the woman I love. And I do love you.
Fancy: I love you, too. I just wish I could show you.
Luis: You show me in so many ways. When you're healed, and when you're ready, we will make love.
Fancy: If anyone can heal me, it's you, Luis. I love you so much.
Paloma: This is so sweet of you, Noah.
Noah: Well, it's Fancy's graduation. She deserves a party.
Paloma: Thank God. She's allowing herself to feel again. I know how difficult this is for her.
Noah: Yeah, you do know, don't you? I mean, you went through the same thing.
Paloma: Yeah, but love is an amazing thing. It can heal so many wounds.
Noah: Yes, it can.
Paloma: You know what? Maybe this is a sign that everything's going to be all right. And Luis and Miguel's nightmare is going to be over.
Noah: Well, let's hope.
Paloma: I'm filled with hope, Noah. I have hope that my brothers will be cleared. And I have hope that Fancy will overcome her fear. And I have hope that Theresa will be with Ethan. Love will overcome all the bad things.
Noah: You know, you really do believe that love will conquer all.
Paloma: I do. Love is powerful enough to make everything right.
Theresa: This is a nightmare. There has to be something that we can do.
Ethan: The judge is right, Theresa. I mean, if you can be blackmailed, and you've got all the power and money of Crane Industries behind you, what's to keep Judge Reilly from resisting?
Theresa: I guess if he can't stop the blackmailer, I mean, we can't. It's over, Ethan. He won. And Miguel is going to be sentenced to prison for life. And Luis is going to be executed. And it's my fault.
Ethan: No, it's not your fault. It's not your fault. We're dealing with a maniac, here, Theresa.
Theresa: Ethan, it is my fault. I should have stayed away from you. And now it's going to cost my brothers their lives.
On the Next Passions:
Ethan: You go through with this, you're going to guarantee that my clients are found guilty.
Vincent: You put a muzzle on your wife, or I'm going to make your life a living hell.
Jessica: If this test comes up positive, it'll change everything.
