Fox: Find Miguel. Search the grounds. Search the entire damn town if you have to. I want him found, or heads will roll. Do I make myself clear?
Julian: Haven't we had enough shouting for one evening?
Fox: Kay ran away. We're all out searching for her. But now Miguel's gone missing, too.
Julian: You think they're together?
Fox: Oh, I have to.
Julian: This is not good. You have to find her. Your bride is very vulnerable right now.
Fox: Thanks for the newsflash, Dad, I know that. She's very upset right now. She's blaming herself for her mother's death. This is the perfect opportunity for Miguel to slide right in and take my place and for everything else to come out.
Ivy: What are you whispering about?
Julian: You cannot let that happen.
Ivy: All right. What is going on? I demand that you tell me.
Julian: You demand nothing in this house. All of this is your fault
Ivy: My fault?
Julian: Yes. Grace Bennett wouldn't have been killed in that bus explosion in London if it weren't for your vicious little scheme to break up her marriage to Sam. Our son may lose the woman he loves because of you.
Miguel: Every night I've dreamed you would be back in my arms. I love you.
Kay: I believe you.
Theresa: Stop it, stop it, you're hurting me!
Ethan: Whoa, what the hell are you doing, man?
Jared: You stay out of this, Ethan. This is none of your business.
Ethan: Oh, you made it my business, Jared.
Jared: Well, she's my wife. And I'll do what I want with her.
Ethan: The hell you can.
Ethan: Theresa, Theresa, Theresa.
Ethan: Ther -- what?
Ethan: What -- what is -- Theresa, what is it?
Gwen: It is not Theresa, ok? It's Gwen. It's your wife. Remember me?
Jared: I love you, Theresa. My beautiful Tess. I want you all night long.
Theresa: You do say the sweetest things.
Jared: I hate these clothes. They're always in the way.
Theresa: You got to think of it as, like, unwrapping a gift.
Jared: Damn these buttons.
Theresa: Faster's better.
Ivy: You don't hold the moral high ground here, Julian. You and your father were -- were behind the most heinous acts I have ever seen.
Julian: Well, I accepted the consequences of my actions. Did you?
Ivy: You're absurd.
Julian: Well, of course you didn't. You never do. I'm sure father would applaud this hideous little scheme of yours. But I, for one, deem it rather childish. You see, Ivy always gets what Ivy wants. So without further thought, you swept Grace Bennett off the chessboard to go after Sam. But the whole thing blew up in your face, didn't it? You didn't get Sam. Grace is dead. And now our son may lose the woman he has fought for for so long. Well, I refuse to let that happen.
Ivy: How dare you. Whatever I did had nothing to do with Fox and Kay. And if the girl is so easily drawn to other men, then why do you want her anyway? You could have had anyone. And you deserve so much better than that two-faced little tramp.
Fox: I love her. And she loves me, too.
Ivy: Loves you? You yourself think she's with Miguel.
Fox: She didn't seek him out. Mother, let me tell you something. Kay is my wife, whether you like it or not. And she just found out that her mother was killed. And unlike you, she's horrified at her own participation in your sick little plot. She is very vulnerable right now. And Miguel is the one that I don't trust.
Ivy: Ok, honey. Just don't -- don't get upset. Remember your illness. If Miguel wants to take advantage of Kay, just let him.
Fox: I will not let that happen.
Ivy: Ok, you're beginning to sound like your grandfather.
Julian: Blood will out. He's a Crane. We have to act fast on this, Fox.
Ivy: Ok, you're both insane. Fox is dying. He only has months to live. And you're getting all worked up over Kay Bennett.
Fox: Mrs. Nicholas Foxworth Crane! Get that. She's my wife. She belongs to me.
Ivy: Well then, you have cast your pearls before swine, darling. Because she doesn't deserve you. Tell me the truth, Fox. Do you really want to spend what little time you have left in constant fear that your wife is sleeping in some fisherman's bed?
Fox: It is not like that, Mother. God, she's completely destroyed. She just found out that her mother was blown into little tiny bits.
Ivy: Then she should be turning to you for comfort, not Miguel.
Fox: Kay is not turning to Miguel. If I'm right, he's the one that seized the opportunity he's chasing after.
Ivy: Oh, right, and -- and she'll just be too grief-stricken to possibly turn him down? Please. Call me crazy if I think the fact that our son is dying is a tad more important than him losing a little snake like Kay Bennett.
Miguel: I want you. I love you.
Kay: Miguel --
Kay: No. I can't do this.
Miguel: What's wrong?
Kay: I can't do this. I can't. It -- I can't get hurt again.
Miguel: I would never hurt you, Kay. I love you. You're the only woman in my heart.
Kay: No, you're a liar. Ok, all those sweet things you just said to me are lies. You don't love me.
Miguel: Of course I love you, Kay.
Kay: No, quit lying to me.
Miguel: Look -- listen to me, listen to me. I'm telling you the truth. I love you, and I would never do anything to hurt you. You have to believe me.
Kay: I saw you. I saw you making love to Charity. And I heard you tell her that you loved her. So quit lying to me.
Gwen: You were doing it again. I can't believe it. You were saying Theresa's name in your sleep again.
Ethan: Honey, come on, I was having a dream.
Gwen: Yeah, sure, I bet you were. Dreaming about Theresa, I don't know why I'm surprised.
Ethan: God, it wasn't a romantic kind of dream. She was being hurt. She was being beaten by Jared. Please, don't be this way. Honey, I'm just worried about Theresa.
Gwen: Of course you're worried about Theresa cause you're always worried about Theresa. Why are you not worried about us, I mean our marriage, our family? Do you understand you are this close to all of it?
Ethan: Don't be like this.
Gwen: Ethan, do you think I like this? I mean, really, do you think what your obsession with another woman has turned me into? I have totally changed. I'm trying to think back to the woman I was when I first fell in love with you before we even came back to Harmony. I can't find her. I don't even recognize her cause she was strong, she was confident, she was happy. I mean, we were happy. The worst part about this whole thing is I can't even blame Theresa for this, Ethan, cause it is all you. Your whole world is wrapped up keeping involved with poor Theresa and I am just this poor girl dragging behind.
Ethan: Hold on, that is not true.
Gwen: Yes, really.
Ethan: This is not about trying to get back together with Theresa, I swear to you. It's about Jared. It's about me knowing that the guy is bad news. It's just killing me that that guy is involved with Theresa and Little Ethan.
Gwen: She's gonna marry him, ok? You need to just get over it, get used to it. Cause if you don't, you could just lose both Theresa and me at the same time.
Theresa: Mmm, 8.9.
Jared: What? 9.3.
Theresa: Whoa! Really?
Jared: I was gonna go for a 9.5, but you laughed at me. You shouldn't laugh at a man when he's at his most vulnerable.
Theresa: Well, you didn't see the look on your face.
Jared: I rolled over on your high heel.
Jared: You'll see, I'm gonna give you a 9.8, 9.9 every night of the week.
Theresa: Wow. So we're not going to be one of those old married couples that ends up sleeping in separate bedrooms?
Jared: No, not a chance.
Theresa: Not going to get tired of me.
Jared: Every time we make love, it's going to be different, exciting, filled with passion, desire.
Theresa: Wow, those are some pretty big words to live by, Mr. Casey.
Jared: Oh yeah?
Jared: You think so? Well, I'm going to prove it to you right now.
Luis: Fancy? You awake? My God, what happened to these sheets? Fancy? You all right?
Fancy: Hmm? Oh, that sedative.
Luis: Fancy, what happened?
Fancy: What do you mean?
Luis: What do I mean? This! Fancy, who did this?
Fancy: Oh, God, Luis, he was here. The man who attacked me was here again. He came back. Well, now you know I'm not imagining it. This is real. The attacker was here.
Ethan: Honey, please try to understand, please.
Gwen: Try to understand? Ethan, do you think I like these little middle-of-the-night scenes? I mean, do you think I like what a jealous wife this whole thing is turning me into?
Ethan: But if -- but if Theresa and Little Ethan are really in danger from this guy, it's hard to --
Gwen: Are they really in danger? I mean, really? Are they really in danger, or are you just trying to find some way to hold on to Theresa?
Ethan: No, I'm not.
Gwen: Because you know who's really in danger? Gwen. Gwen and Jane are in danger of losing the man that makes their family complete.
Ethan: No, that is not true at all.
Gwen: You know what? Do -- do whatever you need to do. Tell -- tell yourself whatever you need to tell yourself to convince yourself of why you won't let Theresa go. But I want to tell you one thing. You're not the same Ethan I fell in love with at all. But the problem is, even though you've changed, I still love you, I do. And I wish to God that you would just be honest with yourself and face up to the fact of why you can't let Theresa go.
Ethan: Honey, please, don't -- don't -- come --
Gwen: I am tired. I am exhausted of this whole thing. And I want to go to sleep.
Fox: No excuses. Where are they? Where's my wife? Where's Miguel? Well, keep looking. I expect to hear better news from you. Is that clear? Well, no sign of either one of them.
Julian: Well, there's always the chance they're not together.
Fox: Right. You don't really believe that.
Ivy: Have you both lost your minds? How can you be so focused on Kay being with Miguel when we all know that Fox is dying? Oh, honey, should you really be drinking? I mean, in -- in your condition?
Fox: Mother, please.
Ivy: I'm sorry. Sweetheart, I'm just so worried about you. I didn't raise you to be --
Julian: What you thought -- you didn't raise the boy at all, or have you forgotten how difficult it was to find a boarding school that would accept a five-year-old?
Ivy: I sent his nanny with him.
Fox: The cemetery. What about the cemetery? It runs right up to the back of the estate.
Julian: Security always includes that in any sweep.
Fox: Oh, damn it.
Ivy: Ok, Fox, I have had enough. You need to get upstairs. And you need to get some rest.
Julian: Oh, please, stop it. These maternal fantasies of yours are becoming totally tiresome. Leave.
Ivy: I will not.
Julian: Out. You are not helping matters. In fact, you are hurting things.
Ivy: Fox -- fine. Fine, I don't enjoy watching my dying son wasting his energies on Kay, a girl who doesn't deserve to be in the same room with him, much less married to him.
Fox: You're referring to my wife.
Ivy: Well, I keep hoping one of you will come to your senses. Forget Kay. She is not worth this effort. You have to concentrate on the business of living, Fox. Remember what Dr. Gasparro said. You haven't got much time left. Carpe diem, darling, you know? Carpe diem.
Fox: I'll start enjoying my life when I get my wife back.
Fox: I do not like lying to her.
Julian: Why? She's lied to all of us for decades. I rather enjoy getting a little of my own back.
Fox: Father, she thinks that I'm -- thinks that I'm dying.
Julian: Well, you certainly can't tell her the truth. Now, she despises Kay. If your mother finds out that your fatal condition is simply a ruse, she will no doubt go to Kay and tell her everything in an effort to get rid of the girl for good.
Fox: But I don't -- look at her. I mean, she's really -- she's upset. Is it --
Julian: She will survive. She always does. She's no doubt composing the guest list to your funeral in her mind as we speak. No, what you have to do right now is to make sure that Kay is not with Miguel. What if she tells him that she saw him making love to Charity? Already, he doesn't really believe your story about your -- your fatal condition. What if he connects the dots and realizes that you hired two actors to impersonate him and Charity?
Fox: Then I would lose Kay forever.
Julian: Well, we cannot let that happen. We have to make sure that Kay does not talk to Miguel.
Kay: You lied to me before. And you're lying to me right now. I saw you. I saw you making love with Charity. And right after -- right after we made love. And I heard you tell her that you loved her and that you wanted to marry her.
Miguel: You know what? You're not making any sense, Kay. Because I haven't seen Charity since she left Harmony.
Kay: Oh, come on. Come on, where are you hiding her, huh? Some hotel at the beach or something?
Miguel: What are you talking about, Kay? She -- she's in some island in the Caribbean somewhere.
Kay: Stop. I know what I saw. I saw you. Simone saw you, too.
Miguel: Si-Simone? You know what, I don't get you, Kay. When? When do you think I was with Charity?
Kay: I think -- I know you were with her the night of my bridal shower. Right after we made love in Tabitha's living room. I was getting ready to go tell Fox that you and I were going to be together. And then -- and then I saw you with her. And -- and you took one look at her. And you forgot all about me. And then, right after that, I -- I saw you with her, having sex with her in that shed in Tabitha's backyard. And I heard you tell her that you loved her.
Miguel: Look, enough, Kay, enough. This is crazy. None of that ever happened. You know I haven't seen Charity in years.
Kay: Oh, come on.
Miguel: I finally spoke to her a couple days ago, only because I wanted her to tell you that she meant nothing to me, Kay.
Kay: God. I want to believe you. But you know what? I know what I saw. So you can't fool me anymore.
Miguel: I'm not fooling you, Kay.
Kay: How do you think I felt, huh? I was getting ready to tell Fox about us. I was getting ready to end my relationship with him. And you know what? I would have -- I would have given it up, everything, gladly, for you. But then I saw you with her.
Miguel: None of this is true, Kay. I love you.
Kay: Stop. Ok, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me, so. I mean, do you honestly, honestly think that I'm going to -- I'm going to turn my back on Fox now, knowing that you're still in love with her?
Miguel: No, I don't, Kay. And that's exactly what he's counting on.
Miguel: Don't you see? Fox is behind all this. I haven't been with Charity. But somehow, Fox managed to make you think I was. Only because he doesn't want you to leave him for me.
Fancy: Oh, God. Look at this. He was right here while I was sleeping. But, Luis, at least now you have to believe me. I wasn't hallucinating.
Luis: Did you see the attacker?
Fancy: No, I slept through the whole thing. Look what he did. Look what he did to my bed. There's no place to be safe anywhere.
Fancy: What was that?
Luis: A knife
Fancy: What -- this is the knife the attacker had before. This is -- this -- this must be what he used to cut up the bed. But where did it come from? And how did it get into my robe?
Fox: I should have stopped her. I should have never let her leave this house on her own.
Julian: Well, in the future, you're going to have to keep a tight rein on her. A Crane wife.
Fox: You know what, Dad? Your little lectures on the -- the correct behavior for Crane wives, it's -- it's not really helping.
Julian: All right, all right, all right. Now, we can't do anything about the fact that Kay ran off. What we have to do is -- is to stop Miguel from catching up to her. They -- they cannot compare notes.
Fox: What else am I supposed to do? I have the security searching this -- this entire town. I don't know where she went.
Julian: Where Miguel is, yes, yes, yes. There's no denying that. They've known each other their whole lives. They have a history together, besides a child. Miguel would know where Kay would go when she's upset.
Fox: Is this your way of trying to make me feel better? Cause it's not working.
Julian: You know something? I don't give a damn about your precious emotions. Cranes don't lose. And at the moment, Miguel seems to have the advantage over you. But that is going to have to be changed. And the way you're going to do that is to start thinking like a Crane, or you will lose your wife to our former housekeeper's son. And everything we've done will have been for nothing.
Miguel: I hope this keeps you warm.
Kay: Thanks. I -- I don't know what to think about all of this.
Miguel: Look, I can't explain it, but I know I'm right. Fox created some fantasy to make you think I didn't care about you.
Miguel: I don't know. I have no idea. But Fox is responsible, Kay. Listen, I've never been with Charity. Ever. We've never, you know.
Kay's voice: Which would explain why nothing happened to the dark side.
Miguel: Look, somehow Fox found out that you were calling off the wedding to be with me. So he set up this whole elaborate scheme. He knew that if you saw me with Charity, you would never leave him for me.
Kay: But he -- he's dying.
Miguel: Oh, come on, Kay. Do you seriously believe that? It was just another one of his tricks to hold on to you. Doesn't it make sense? Your greatest fear was that I was still in love with Charity. You told me that. And Fox must have known that, too.
Kay: Yeah, but it was you. I -- it was you. I -- I heard you. It was Charity.
Miguel: Kay, that's what Fox wants you to think. He's deceived you. He's manipulating you, Kay.
Kay: I don't know.
Miguel: Look, there's no other explanation. I haven't seen Charity since that day at the bus station when she ran away. Fox is behind all this.
Kay: But he loves me. I know he does. I -- I don't think he would lie to me about this. I don't know, though. I don't know. I'm confused.
Miguel: But you're not confused about the way you feel about me, are you? You love me just as much as I love you. You want me as much as I want you.
Fancy: I don't understand it. How did this get in my pocket?
Luis: I don't know. It's -- it's evidence.
Fancy: Oh, ugh.
Luis: Yeah. It's all right. Just have it sent down to the lab, check for fingerprints.
Fancy: Well, the attacker's prints will be on it. They have to be. And --
Luis: Let's hope so.
Fancy: And it will prove, without any doubt, that he's been here, in this room. I was not imagining any of what happened, Luis. I mean, I -- I was -- I was sleeping, you know? Damn that sedative. I didn't even wake up. Look what he did.
Luis: I know, I know.
Fancy: But at least I am finally able to prove to you that I'm telling the truth.
Luis: Well, the important thing is that you're all right. And damn it, I checked this room. There was no one in here. I don't want you sleeping in here anymore, ok? Is it all right if I call the chauffeur, have him send this down to the lab?
Fancy: Yeah, of course.
Luis: Yes, the garage, please.
Fancy: Now I can prove I'm not crazy. The attacker was here.
Luis: Well, I don't think your attacker will know to find you in here.
Fancy: Ah, nothing bad can ever happen to me in my princess room, Luis. This is the room my grandfather built for me.
Luis: Surprised there's not a special curse on it then.
Fancy: Oh, pssh. At least he did one lovely thing in his life.
Luis: Right. Well, I'm still going to search this room. Make sure there's no one in here. And make sure that no one can get in here.
Fancy: Well, just as soon as that lab calls back with the fingerprint report, you will have absolute proof that I wasn't hallucinating about the attacker. He was in my room, Luis.
Luis: And I believe you.
Fancy: Well, I know you'll catch him. We both will. You know, Aunt Sheridan is the one who was wrong. I am not losing my mind. And now, I can prove it.
Luis: All right, why don't you save your energy? Sheridan loves you, ok? She does.
Fancy: Yeah, well, she has a funny way of showing it sometimes. Look, I have been telling you the truth. And I want you to believe me.
Theresa: Whew. Oh, never in my life have I ever felt anything like that.
Jared: Well, that will be old soon. We'll have to get more creative.
Theresa: God, if you don't kill me first.
Jared: Yeah. Oh, I forgot. We had some champagne sent up. You want some?
Theresa: I'd love some.
Theresa: I -- I'm sorry. I -- I didn't know that was in there.
Jared: Yeah, well, it seems like every time I turn around, there's another picture of Ethan.
Theresa: I'm sure that my son put that in there.
Jared: Yeah, him and Ethan are pretty tight, huh?
Theresa: Yeah. Thank you. Look, he -- he adores you, Jared. He does. It's just that Ethan is Little Ethan's godfather. So he's going to have to be a part of my son's life. It -- I hope that doesn't bother you.
Jared: No. It doesn't bother me. What bothers me is wondering if Ethan's always going to be a part of your life. I love you, Tess. You know that. But sometimes, I just -- I worry that it's not enough. This whole thing with Ethan, I just -- I really -- I can't take it.
Theresa: What are you saying?
Jared: I'm saying that -- I just -- I've got to get through to this guy somehow. And not just about us, but about this idea he has in his head that I'm some sort of criminal. So maybe if I talk to him man to man -- I don't know. But he's got to back off. 'Cause you're going to be my wife. And he has to learn to accept that. So maybe Ethan should just -- just distance himself from now on. That's what you want, right? For Ethan to stay out of your life?
Man: Theresa needs your help. She's in danger. She needs you.
Julian: You know, Fox, I was quite proud of you when you devised this little plan to keep Kay in line. But I tell you, if we do not find Kay and Miguel at once, it could all be for naught. Because if she learns the truth, she will give you up for Miguel. And you will be a failure. And that's unacceptable in this family.
Fox: Thank you, Father. I'm well aware of the consequences of failure in this family. I read Grandfather Alistair's will.
Julian: Ahh, touché.
Fox: I won't lose Kay. I've got a small army of security guards searching this entire town for her. If Miguel's with her, may God help him. I will not let her tell Miguel what -- what she saw, or what she thought she saw. I won't have her find out that I hired impersonators to act out as Miguel and Charity. That's not going to happen.
Julian: Well, I hope not. But that isn't our only problem. We still have the problem -- well, your annoying health problem. I mean, you're supposed to be dying. I suppose we could always come up with a fake cure for your fake disease. It should be simple enough. We'll just tell Kay that we've discovered some researcher somewhere in Europe, or some other faraway place. He's doing cutting-edge experimental work on your -- your condition. You go there for a couple of months. And you return, miraculously cured.
Fox: No, no. That will never work. Miguel, he -- he won't let that go. He'll keep -- he'll keep looking into it.
Julian: I didn't just fall off the turnip truck. I'll pay off a clinic, or perhaps you can build a new facility in gratitude. We can't wait too long for this. Because if Kay keeps thinking you're about to pop off, she may prepare herself for losing you and not attach to you emotionally the way she should. And then, you know what happens? Those old feelings for Miguel will resurface. And we'll be right back where we started.
Ivy: How dare you. How dare both of you! You, lying to me, and letting me think my son is dying? And you, you, to win Kay Bennett, you would stab your own mother in the heart?
Miguel: You know, with our love, we can move mountains. Look, I know it's a cheesy line. But hey, look at me. Look at me. I wasn't with Charity. Fox wanted you to think that. I love you. You're the only woman in my heart. And you're the only woman I want to spend the rest of my life with.
Kay: I have to think about this.
Miguel: Look, please. Kay, listen to me. You love me. Just as much as I love you. If not, you wouldn't get so angry with me all the time.
Kay: I have to go back to the mansion. I --
Miguel: To what? To what, Kay? Lies? That miserable family? Everything you've always wanted is right here, right here with me. Love me, Kay.
Miguel: Just love me.
Kay: I love you.
Luis: You ever going to sit down?
Fancy: I can't. I'm too anxious. How long will the lab results take?
Luis: Not long. I put a rush on it.
Fancy: You don't know what this means to me. To be able to prove to you that I wasn't making up everything I saw.
Luis: I never said that.
Fancy: Well, that man was in my room. And now I can prove it. His fingerprints will be on that knife. And maybe we can even arrest him tonight.
Fancy: Ooh, that's probably the lab. Check and see, is it the lab?
Fancy: Luis --
Luis: Lopez-Fitzgerald. Carl, hey. Thank you so much for coming in tonight to check on those prints for me. So what do you got? What?
Luis: You sure about that? Ok, thanks.
Fancy: What did the lab say? Whose prints are on the knife?
Luis: The only prints that are on the knife are mine and yours.
Jared: Now, you agree with me, right? Ethan should keep his distance, stay out of your life?
Theresa: Yeah, yeah, if that, you know... that's how things need to be.
Theresa: Jared, I love you. I'm going to marry you. And Ethan needs to just stop these crazy accusations that he keeps making up about you. You've got nothing to hide.
Jared: Nothing at all.
Theresa: No, he needs to leave us alone, forever.
Jared: Well, there's no other way, or there's really no chance in us.
Jared: You know how happy you just made me? Now, Ethan has been like a dark cloud hovering over us ever since we got together. And now, it's nothing but clear skies. No more Ethan.
Man: Theresa needs your help. She's in danger. Go to her.
Man: Stand up.
Man: Come with me, Ethan. Come with me to Theresa, to save her. You can save her. You are the only one who can save her.
On the Next Passions:
Fancy: You don't believe that any of this has been happening to me, do you?
Jared: Want to know what I think of Ethan Winthrop? I think he's lost it.
Kay: I'm going to burn in hell for this.
