Luis: Hey, beautiful.

Sheridan's voice: Luis used to say that to me.

Luis: You know, for someone who just fell down a mineshaft, you look great.

Fancy: Well, you look pretty good yourself.

Luis: Goes with being a superhero.

Fancy: The way you took care of me last night, building a fire and using your body heat to keep me from freezing.

Eve's voice: Is it my imagination, or do Fancy and Luis look like a couple in love? The look on Sheridan's face -- ah, so it's not my imagination.

Eve: So, how's my patient today?

Fancy: Ah, much better, Dr. Russell.

Luis: Eve. Hi, Sheridan. I didn't see you there when I came in.

Kay: Tabitha, will you help me decide what to wear to my bridal shower?

Tabitha: Just a minute, Kay, dear.

Miguel: Why are you even going through with this farce of a shower, Kay? You're not going to marry Fox, you're going to marry me.

Kay: Miguel, we have been through this already, ok? Ugh.

Tabitha: I don't know how that Martha Stewart does it. Signing for this, signing for that, telling a swarm of workers where things go, checking the music, checking the decorations, the flowers. Really, I don't know how she had time to get in trouble with the SEC. Tell me again, dear, why are you having your bridal shower here?

Miguel: There isn't going to be a shower.

Kay: What?

Noah: What?

Tabitha: What?

Kay: Noah?

Noah: I got a message from Fox telling me to come here and help Miguel plan his bachelor party for after the bridal shower.

Kay: Oh.

Tabitha: Well, is -- is your do on or off? Because my backyard looks like a blinking Las Vegas wedding chapel.

Noah: I take it you two didn't tell Fox you were together.

Kay: You told Noah?

Tabitha: What is going on here?

Miguel: I had to talk to someone last night.

Kay: Ugh.

Tabitha: What about? What don't I know?

Kay: I realized that I want to marry Miguel, not Fox.

Tabitha: Well, then why is Fox throwing you a bridal shower?

Miguel: That's what I want to know.

Kay: Miguel, stop. Ok, look, I know that I'm not your favorite person right now because of my part in the whole Mom-Ivy-Dad thing, Just don't say anything about Fox's condition, ok? He doesn't want anyone to know.

Tabitha: Know what? What are you three yammering about?

Kay: Fox is sick, Tabitha.

Tabitha: What, did he find an ounce of fat on his otherwise perfect body?

Kay: No, he's dying.

Fox: Father, I'm dying.

Julian: My God, when did you --

Fox: Relax, Father, I'm fine.

Julian: Then why the hell did you -- did you --

Fox: It's part of my plan to keep Miguel from stealing Kay away from me. I'm pretending I'm dying.

Julian: Oh, hmm. So she'll wed you before your demise.

Fox: That's part of the payoff. But there's more.

Julian: Oh, the old Crane one-two punch. I'm very proud of you.

Fox: Thank you, Father. I'll tell you the rest when you get here.

Julian: I can't wait. I'll see you soon.

Julian: I take it those papers are regarding my custody battle for Little Ethan?

Ethan: That's right. Any court is certain to grant you partial custody, even if Theresa refuses to.

Julian: Well, I no longer want partial custody.

Ethan: What do you mean? You -- you want to keep things the way they are?

Julian: No, I want full custody of my son. He's a Crane, he's going to be raised a Crane by me and me alone, not Theresa.

Theresa: Mommy can't share you with Julian. He's not your real father. Ethan is.

Jared: Hey, you ready to discuss Little Ethan's custody situation?

Theresa: Yes, please come in.

Jared: Just so you know, I hired a headhunter to find my next position.

Theresa: I know, I heard. Is there any way that you could reconsider leaving Harmony and just, you know, stay and work with me?

Jared: Oh, we're meeting with Ethan and Julian soon.

Theresa: I understand. I know that it's awkward considering the fact that I just, you know, tried to get Ethan back.

Jared: Yeah, I -- I heard it didn't work out. Sorry. I wanted you to be happy. I still do.

Theresa: Then please don't leave me. Crane, I mean.

Theresa: You know, it's one thing to leave Crane Industries, ok, but please don't leave Harmony because of me.

Jared: Look, Tess, we have a lot of work to do, so --

Theresa: I don't want to lose you, Jared.

Jared: Well, I was really never yours to lose. Ethan was.

Theresa: I did think that I was over him.

Jared: But you weren't, and you probably never will be.

Theresa: I'm really sorry for what I put you through.

Jared: Don't apologize. Like you said, Ethan's the love of your life. You had no other choice but to try to win him back.

Theresa: But it didn't work. We're finished this time for good.

Jared: Tess, come on. You and Ethan aren't over. This is just a -- a break in the action.

Theresa: But I had given up on Ethan, until he said that we could be together if I could just prove to him that Gwen betrayed him. But I couldn't.

Jared: Maybe next time you will.

Theresa: There won't be a next time.

Jared: I'm sure there will. I mean, you and Ethan, somehow, some way, will find your way back to each other.

Theresa: Do you really believe that?

Jared: Well, what man could resist a woman like you? I couldn't.

Julian: See, I'm not going to debate this with you. We are going for full custody, let the chips fall where they may.

Ethan: Julian, no. No, no, I'm not going to help you take Little Ethan away from Theresa, no. I mean, she loves that little boy more than her own life. He's all she has now.

Julian: Yes, and now, without you, I'm sure she feels that he is all she has left.

Ethan: Look, you are Little Ethan's biological father, so you have a right to have a role in his life, but Theresa is his mother. She has a right to be in his life as well.

Julian: Answer me this -- do you think that there's anything that we could offer Theresa to compel her to give me full custody of my son?

Ethan: No, Julian, there's nothing.

Julian: I think perhaps there is, but the question, of course, what could we offer her in exchange for my getting full custody?

Ethan: Where are you going with this?

Julian: You know, it's a pity that Theresa's not hooked in with some man. I understand that she and Jimmy aren't as close as they once were.

Ethan: I think his name is Jared, and it doesn't matter anyway, Julian, because Theresa's not like that. She's not the kind of woman that's going to trade in her son for a lover.

Julian: Well, perhaps not. What about you? You think that you would ever trade a child for love?

Ethan: Right. What -- what the hell are we talking about here?

Julian: This -- this is a hypothetical question.

Ethan: Is it? Because I feel that there's something maybe I should know that I don't know about, something maybe you should tell me?

Julian: No, nothing.

Ethan: You're sure?

Julian: Yes, quite positive.

Ethan: Right, well, then why don't we spend a little more time trying to come up with a realistic custody arrangement, ok?

Julian: Yes, I am nothing if not realistic.

Julian's voice: That's why I know that Theresa will eventually give me full custody of my son, in exchange for getting you back, Ethan.

Sheridan: Fancy sure does look good, thanks to Luis. I can't even count how many times Luis saved my life.

Eve's voice: Two women in love with the same man is never a good thing. But when the women are an aunt and her niece, and Cranes to boot -- wow, this could get ugly.

Fancy: These flowers are so beautiful, Luis. You really shouldn't have.

Luis: Yeah, well.  {I want the biggest bouquet of flowers that you can put together. Yeah, I don't know what kind of flowers. Just something colorful, ok? It's for someone in the hospital. No, I'll deliver it myself.} Everyone down at the station chipped in for them. They want you to get back to work as soon as you can.

Fancy: I didn't realize I was so popular.

Luis: Are you kidding me? Fancy, everyone's crazy about you.

Fancy: Everyone, Luis?

Sheridan: Well, why don't I put these in some water?

Eve: Oh, my.

Fancy: Luis, I can't thank you enough for saving my life.

Luis: Well --

Fancy: The way you kept me warm with your body heat, all the sweet things you whispered to me, keeping my hopes up and encouraging me to hold on. And it worked. Hey, you are a true hero. My hero.

Sheridan: Well, I really should be going.

Fancy: Well, Luis and I understand, but thank you so much for stopping by.

Sheridan: Hey -- you're my niece. I love you.

Fancy: I love you, too.

Eve: Actually, Luis, would you mind stepping out while I finish Fancy's examination?

Fancy: No, I don't mind if Luis stays. He's seen me naked before.

Eve: Well, if you're going to be my patient, then you're going to have to do things my way. So, come on, everybody out.

Luis: Dr. Russell, is she going to be ok?

Eve: It's just a routine examination.

Luis: Yeah.

Fancy: Well, I'll be waiting for you, Luis.

Tabitha: What do you mean? Is Fox sickening for something?

Kay: Well, we don't know what's wrong with him, just that he's dying.

Miguel: We overheard Fox last night talking to his doctor on the phone. He only has a few months to live.

Tabitha: Oh, dear.

Tabitha: Since when do mortals tell me that one of their own is dying? Usually my magic bowl bubbles up a bulletin, or at the very least, the boys in the basement throw a going-away party, but not this time. Maybe the dark side is trying to protect Endora from finding out that her half-brother is -- is going to kick the bucket. Hmm. Well, anyway, I'm going to have to keep tabs on this dying Fox dilemma until I'm absolutely certain that it's curtains for Fox.

Tabitha: Blast, damn fly got away.

Miguel: I don't want Fox to die, but I don't want this shower to happen either, Kay. Look, we have to tell him we're together before he looks like a fool to everybody.

Kay: But he went to so much trouble to throw the shower for me.

Noah: Wait, isn't the maid of honor supposed to throw the bridal shower?

Kay: Yeah, but I haven't picked mine yet.

Tabitha: I really don't understand this, Kay. Why is Fox throwing the shower here anyway? Why not at the country club, or even at your own house?

Kay: Because the country club was booked, and my dad's still really mad at me for the whole Ivy thing. It's -- besides, ok, this is my home now. I should be able to have the bridal shower here.

Miguel: Not when you aren't going to marry Fox, Kay.

Tabitha: I'm afraid I agree with Miguel. I mean, why go through the whole sham of a shower if you're not going to marry the doomed groom?

Kay: Because I do not have the heart to tell him the truth, ok? The man just found out he's dying.

Miguel: Look, Mama told me to give you some space, so I will. But just tell Fox about us, please? Before what he thinks is his wedding day?

Noah: Look, if we're really going to go on with this ruse, we should find Fox and start planning his, you know, groomsmen thing. Come on.

Kay: Ugh! What am I going to do?

Tabitha: What are you going to do? What am I going to do when Endora finds out that her half-brother is not long for this world? I don't know what sort of a tantrum she'll throw. We could all be dead, not just Fox.

Fox: Well, being a Crane certainly does have its advantages, and I plan on using every single one of them to make Kay my wife, not Miguel's.

[Phone rings]

Fox: Fox Crane. The jet carrying Charity Standish is about to land at Harmony airport? Excellent. Now take Charity directly to Tabitha Lenox's house the moment she deplanes. And make sure that nobody knows that she's in town. If word leaked out, that would ruin the scam I'm pulling on Kay and Miguel.

Ethan: Ok, Julian, since you insist, I'll demand that you're given sole custody of Little Ethan. But I'm telling you right now as your lawyer, it's not going to happen, nor should it.  It's wrong for you to try to take Little Ethan away from Theresa.

Julian: Ethan, you work for me. I want full custody, the right or wrong of it be damned. Now, if some judge rules against me, so be it. But as far as Theresa is concerned, we are going to the mat for full custody. Would you keep your displeasure to yourself, please? We'll speak later.

Ethan: Damn it. I did not sign on to do Julian's bidding. I just wanted to do what was right for Julian and for Little Ethan. Taking Theresa's son away from her isn't -- I got to warn her. If she loses Little Ethan, it's going to send her right over the edge.

Theresa: I'm sorry that my feelings for Ethan got in the way of us. But I did have feelings for you, Jared, deep feelings. And I still do.

Jared: But you love Ethan, and you always will.

Theresa: Do you really have to, you know, stop loving someone to start loving someone else?

Jared: No.

Theresa: Then let's just pick up where we left off.

Theresa: Ethan. I've been waiting for you.

Jared: By the looks of things, you always will be.

Fancy: Well?

Eve: Amazing to say, you don't seem any worse for the wear.

Fancy: Oh. Well, it's because of Luis. You should have seen him, Dr. Russell. When the platform I was on gave way, he dived into the shaft to save me without thinking twice.

Eve: Well, you know, that sounds like Luis' heroics. He's local Harmony lore. Especially as it concerns Sheridan.

Fancy: Oh?

Eve: Well, yeah, he saved her countless times. And then in the end, he broke her heart. I think if you're not careful, you could end up just like her.

Sheridan: I really should get going.

Luis: Sheridan, wait.

Luis: Listen, before I got here, you and Fancy -- you were talking. You were alone. What were you guys talking about?

Sheridan: Different things. We were talking about how Fancy was feeling, how lucky you both were to be alive.

Luis: Yeah.

Sheridan: Fancy said how brave she thought you were, how amazed she was at how you risked your life to save hers.

Luis: Did she say anything else? You know, besides me being brave?

Sheridan: Anything else? Oh. You want to know if Fancy said anything about what she feels for you.

Luis: God, this is so high school. Um -- yeah, did she say anything to you about me and her being together?

Sheridan: Oh, my God. You don't just have feelings for Fancy. You love her. You actually love Fancy.

Kay: I don't know, it's just -- I just feel trapped, and everything is going so fast, and -- God. How am I going to tell Fox that I can't marry him?

Tabitha: That is not for me to say, dear. All I know is, you've got to do it soon because you are set to tie the knot with Fox tout de suite.

Kay: Ugh, don't remind me.

Tabitha: And I'll tell you something else. Miguel may have said to you that he'll let you tell Fox in your own time, but as with all mortal men in love, his patience will have a limit. And if you don't fess up to Fox soon, Miguel could go and blurt it out at the worst possible time.

Fox: I can explain.

Noah: Fox, stop. It's ok, I understand why you chose Miguel to be your best man.

Fox: You do?

Noah: Yeah, I mean, things are very tense between Kay and me right now, you know, over what she did to break apart my parents' marriage. Besides, you know, Miguel is Maria's father. He's going to be a part of her life, and he should be part of the wedding, right?

Fox: Well, I'm very happy that you understand. Well, as far as my bachelor party goes, you are the best man, so, whatever you want. But I was thinking maybe Noah could help you plan it all since I'm running out of time. As a free man. You know, the weird thing is I don't feel like I'm losing anything marrying Kay. In fact, I feel like I'm getting everything I've ever wanted before. I mean, the truth is she's just my dream girl. And the moment that the two of us say "I do," she's going to become my dream come true. I mean, I cannot wait to wake up to that face every morning for the rest of my life, play with Maria a little bit, and then come home and make love to Kay all night long, giving her pleasure in a way that only the two of us would know. Being married to her is going to be heaven. Pure heaven.

Miguel: Ok, stop. Just stop. There's something you should know about Kay.

Fancy: I thought you liked Luis.

Eve: I do.

Fancy: Well, then why would you say he'll end up breaking my heart?

Eve: It's not Luis so much as it's the situation. Obviously you care for Luis and he cares for you.

Fancy: Yeah.

Eve: And then there's Sheridan, your aunt. She loves Luis, and he still loves her -- even though she's gone on with Chris, and even though he's trying to go on with you. The thing is, honey, whenever there's three people romantically involved, somebody is bound to get hurt.

Fancy: Well, what am I supposed to do? Let Aunt Sheridan have Luis back? No way.

Eve: No. I just thought I should warn you. Just be careful of your heart. Situations like these, they can lead to more pain than you can imagine.

Sheridan: Luis, about Fancy --

Luis: I am so sorry. I never should have asked you if Fancy said anything about me. I can't believe how high school that was.

Sheridan: But you're in love with Fancy.

Luis: Look, Sheridan, I don't want to keep you.

Sheridan: No, wait a minute, that wasn't a question, that was a statement. You're in love with my niece.

Luis: I just -- I don't think that we should get into this.

Sheridan: No, I don't think we should, either, but we already are.

Luis: All right. All right, I didn't think that I was going to be able to fall in love again. But I guess I have.

Sheridan: With Fancy.

Luis: I'm in love with Fancy.

Jared: I'll leave you two to discuss Little Ethan's future.

Theresa: Uh, Jared, I was just, you know, surprised to see him here. I just thought that Julian was with you.

Jared: No, there's no need to explain. I understand. Excuse me.

Theresa:  Would you like coffee?

Ethan: No, thank you.

Theresa: Then let's get down to business. As far as I'm concerned, I haven't changed my mind. I don't want Julian having partial custody of Little Ethan. Maybe, just maybe, I would allow Julian to visit my son on occasion if his nanny is present. And that's as far as I'm willing to go.

Ethan: Unfortunately, Theresa, Julian is not going to agree to that. As a matter of fact, partial custody isn't going to work, either. He wants to fight you for full custody of Little Ethan.

Theresa: My God.

Ethan: I'm sorry, Theresa.

Theresa: Do you think he's going to get it? I mean, I asked you a question.

Ethan: I know you did, but I have to ask you something first. I was talking to Julian earlier, and he acted like he knew something that I didn't.

Theresa: Oh?

Ethan: Yeah, I mean, I grew up thinking that that man was my father, so I can read him pretty well. And I know this is coming out of left field, but I'm going to ask you anyway. Is Julian blackmailing you?

Fancy: I appreciate your concern, but Aunt Sheridan has made a decision to stay with Chris. And Luis is free to be with me. And I want him, and I think he wants me, too, not my Aunt Sheridan.

Sheridan: I'm happy for you, Luis. Happy that you've found love again. Actually, I'm not surprised that you're attracted to Fancy, seeing that she and I are so much alike.

Luis: You think?

Sheridan: Excuse me?

Luis: Well, you're both blond and beautiful, but Fancy is definitely her own person.

Sheridan: Well, good for her. And good for you. I -- I'd better get going.

Luis: Ok.

Sheridan: Uh -- Luis? Are you happy with Fancy?

Luis: Well, I'm not with Fancy yet. I mean, we're not officially a couple, but I can see us as one.

Sheridan: Yeah, I can, too.

Luis: It's funny how things turned out, because when you told me that you weren't leaving Chris, I never thought that I'd be able to fall in love again. But I guess I have.

Sheridan: Good.

Luis: So, what about you, Sheridan? Are you happy with Chris?

Noah: Whoa. Uh, Miguel, I don't think Kay would appreciate you talking about her behind her back.

Fox: Yeah, Miguel, I think if you have something to say, you should wait until Kay's here for it. Oh, we were just talking about you.

Kay: Oh?

Fox: Yes, about how I can't wait to make you my wife.

Julian: Hello.

Fox: Father.

Julian: Yes, hello everyone. This is for you to enjoy at your shower. Oh, my, you and Fox make such a lovely couple.

Fox: Thank you. Thank you very much, Dad.

Miguel: Shouldn't you say something, Kay?

Kay: Yeah, you're right. Thank you for the champagne.

Julian: Oh, well, you're quite welcome, dear. Would you mind if I steal him for a moment? We have some business to discuss.

Fox: It kills me to be away from you for just a moment.

Julian: Well, it appears that your plan to keep Kay from leaving you for Miguel is working.

Fox: That's not even the best part of it.

Julian: Do tell.

Fox: I've located Charity and convinced her to come back to Harmony. She'll be back here in time for Kay's shower.

Julian: Oh, excellent. Charity was Miguel's first love. He saved her from all manner of fates.

Fox: Well, Miguel has Kay convinced that he's over her. I'm betting that just seeing the two of them together will be enough to make Kay doubt Miguel's commitment to her.

Julian: Oh, excellent.

Fox: Fox Crane. Yes, excellent. Have her come up the back way to Kay's bedroom. Father, let's go say hello to Charity upstairs.

Julian: All right.

Fox: Miguel and Kay are finished, and they don't even know it.

Noah: Well, Kay, I hope you learned your lesson, keeping quiet about what Ivy was doing to our parents. Look, don't make the same mistake twice.

Kay: Miguel, you know that I want to say something, it's just --

Miguel: No more excuses, Kay. You have to tell Fox about us tonight, before the shower.

Theresa: Is Julian blackmailing me? How could he?

Ethan: I don't know. But something's going on, because he was really damned smug. It was as if he had some ace in the hole when it came to getting custody of Little Ethan.

Theresa: You know, you helping Julian get partial custody of Little Ethan -- that's bad enough. But to help him actually get full custody --

Ethan: Theresa, listen --

Theresa: You know that's not right.

Ethan: I agreed to represent Julian because I thought you were wrong to keep him away from his own flesh and blood. I still think it's wrong, either one of you having full custody of Little Ethan, that's not what's best for him. And you balked at partial custody, so now Julian is hell-bent on treating you the same way you treated him.

Theresa: Look, he can't get full custody, I can't lose Little Ethan.

Ethan: Well, maybe you won't. Maybe a court will rule in your favor.

Theresa: Like they did with Jane? I'm not taking that chance, Ethan.

Ethan: Theresa, you don't have a choice. If you don't agree to Julian's terms, he's going to take you right into court.

Theresa: No, there has to be another way.

Ethan: There is not another way.

Theresa: Every time I think that I'm doing the right thing or I think I'm doing what's best, I always end up making things worse. I just don't know why I wasn't just honest when I had the chance. I cannot let Julian take my son. I love him too much.

Ethan: Theresa, listen to me. If I go back to Julian, I'll -- I'll try again, I'll try to get him to forget about full custody if you'll meet him halfway.

Theresa: Damn Julian for what he's doing to me.

Ethan: Theresa, I still think it's only fair that Julian has a defined role in his son's life.

Theresa: Don't you get it? He's not his father!

Eve: God, I don't know how to explain this, but I guess I ought to try. Your Aunt Sheridan -- she's a beautiful person. And you -- you are a beautiful person. And you are beautiful, both of you are just lovely inside and out.

Fancy: Thanks, Dr. Russell.

Eve: But you take my word for this -- there is something in the Crane gene pool, something that keeps a Crane from letting anyone they love leave them. Sheridan may say that she's finished with Luis, but if she's not -- well, she could do some things that you might not expect of her.

Fancy: Like what?

Eve: Well, see, that's just the point. When a Crane is involved in a love triangle, there's just -- there's just hell to pay. Like your father and me and T.C., and now you and Luis and Sheridan. I just don't want any of you to be hurt because you were following your hearts.

Fancy: Well, there won't be a problem, Dr. Russell. Even if Aunt Sheridan still has feelings for Luis, she said she moved on. Plus, she saw how Luis has moved on to me. So I'm not worried about her causing problems, not in the least.

Luis: Are you happy with Chris?

Sheridan: I'm very happy, Luis. I have James now. Chris and James are the family that I have always wanted.

Luis: Good. But that's not what I asked you. I asked you if you were happy with Chris.

Sheridan: I love him. I love Chris and James.

Luis: So you're happy? Chris makes you happy?

Julian: I must say, Fox, I'm quite proud of you, going after what you want the way you did. You're coming into your own as a Crane.

Fox: Well, thank you, Father. I just hope my little plan to keep Kay and Miguel from letting me know they're tying the knot works.

Fox: Charity, welcome home.

Charity: Thank you, Fox. Mr. Crane.

Julian: Charity, so very, very good to see you again.

Fox: My father's right. You have no idea how glad I am to see you.

Ethan: I'm sorry, did you just say that Julian is not Little Ethan's father?

Theresa: No.

Ethan: No, what? No, what? No, you didn't say that, or, no, Julian is not Little Ethan's father?

Theresa: No -- no, he isn't.

Ethan: Who is?

Theresa: He can't have custody of Little Ethan.

Ethan: Theresa, who is Little Ethan's father? Who?

Theresa: You are. You're Little Ethan's father.

On the Next Passions:

Fancy: Luis is mine. He's finished with Aunt Sheridan.

Miguel: Fox deserves to know the truth, Kay.

Eve: Maybe we could talk about Luis and the fact that you still love him.
