Fancy: I still can't believe Phyllis is dead... murdered in Aunt Sheridan's cottage.

Luis: Yeah, this is Lopez-Fitzgerald. Yeah, well, I don't care if the lab is backed up, this is a priority.

Luis: The only evidence from Phyllis' murder --is a pen and a piece of paper pried from her hand.

Fancy: I wonder if the killer has the rest of that piece of paper.

Luis: And I wonder what's on it that's worth committing murder over.

Chris: Here, let me help you with that.

Sheridan: No, no, no, I can manage. Besides, I want to keep busy after -- I mean Phyllis, dead, murdered here on the floor. I still can't believe it.

Chris: Thank God that James was up at the mansion when all this happened.

Sheridan: My God, you are right. If James were here, he could have been murdered. What's going on around here? I mean, first you were shot on the grounds by an intruder. Then Pilar was shot in the mansion, and now Phyllis has been murdered. Look, drink your -- your hot cocoa, it's going to get cold.

Chris: You know what, Sheridan, you take such good care of me. Let me take care of you.

Sheridan: I'm just so shaken up over --

Chris: It's ok. I'm here for you from now on. And one piece of paper guarantees that we'll be together.

Ethan: Ooh!

Theresa: Ooh!

Ethan: Go get it.

Theresa: Just don't go near the street, ok?

Ethan: Yeah.

Little Ethan: I won't.

Ethan: I'm having a good time. I think he's having a good time, too.

Theresa: Well, that's because he loves you very much.

Ethan: Well, that feeling is mutual.

Theresa: Yet you are helping Julian sue me for partial custody of Little Ethan.

Ethan: Look, Little Ethan's biological father has rights. It's as simple as that.

Theresa: Simple. If only.

Ethan: What is that supposed to mean?

Theresa: You know what? Our situations are very complicated, Ethan. You and Gwen have full custody of our daughter. And now there's a tug of war starting over Little Ethan.

Ethan: Look, Jared told me that you canceled our meeting today because of business reasons. But, see, I know better. I know that your children are the most important thing to you in your life. So why don't you just come clean and tell me why you blew off our meeting today?

{Pilar: Theresa, families belong together. You belong with Ethan and your children, and the first step is to tell Ethan that he's Little Ethan's father.

Theresa: Impossible, Mama. }  Sweetheart, hurry back, ok? We're waiting.

Ethan: You know what, fine. You don't want to talk about it, fine. But the truth, it always comes out Theresa.

Theresa's voice: It can't. Not this time.

Rebecca: Pilar, you have been through so. Like when Martin left you for that tramp Katherine, I mean, I know your heart was absolutely broken.

Pilar: It was. I'm over it now.

Rebecca: You are? Oh, my goodness. I don't know if I could ever be that forgiving. I mean, I certainly know why she left Alistair, but she didn't have to take your husband with her.

Pilar: Oh, God, Rebecca, I don't need you to remind me what Katherine and Martin did.

Rebecca: I was just trying to say that I -- I sympathize with you. I do. And -- and if you want to unburden yourself by telling me the secret that is weighing so heavily on your soul, you -- you go ahead. You can tell me and I won't tell anyone about this secret. Pilar, we -- we can be each other's rocks. Just tell me what it is.

Pilar: All right. All right, Rebecca. I'll tell you.

Whitney: I don't think we should continue this conversation out here. I mean someone could overhear us. Why don't I see if Chad has left for work? We'll continue inside.

Gwen: Ok. Oh, Theresa, knowledge is power. And once I find out the secret you are keeping, I'm going to use it to keep you and Ethan apart forever.

Kay: I -- I never meant for this to happen.

Miguel: You never meant for what to happen?

Kay: Nothing.

Fox: Miguel, leave her alone. You are making her upset.

Miguel: Kay, what did you do?

Kay: Nothing.

Miguel: Kay, I know you well, and I can see the guilt written all over your face. You did something.

Kay: No, I -- I didn't do anything.

Miguel: Yes you did, Kay, just tell me what you did.

Kay: It wasn't me. It was Ivy. God, she set my mom up, and she made my mom think that she had been -- had been married to David before she got amnesia. But it was a lie. It was just this -- this cruel story that Ivy made up.

Fox: Come on, Kay, you can't be serious. My mother did that?

Kay: Yes, and I'm sorry. Ivy, she invented this -- this whole charade and she -- she convinced my mom and my dad -- that David was my mom's first husband. And that's why she -- she left us.

Sam: What did you just say?

Ivy: I think I can get the stain out.

Sam: This can't be true.

Ivy: What can't be true, Sam?

Sam: Kay just said that you set Grace up, that you used David Hastings to play on Grace's amnesia...make her think that she had been married to him before the fire in Boston.

Ivy: Kay said that?

Kay: Miguel kept pushing me about my mom, and it just came out.

Ivy: I don't -- I don't know -- I don't know what to say. To think that I would do something so horrible is absurd, not to mention outrageous.

Kay: Oh, come on, Ivy, it's true. And you know it's true.

Ivy: I know no such thing. Make her apologize, Sam. Make her apologize, because she is just trying to stop our wedding.

Sam: Kay, is this true? Are you just saying this because you don't want me to marry her?

Ivy: Of course she is. Take a good look, Fox, because this -- this is the real Kay. A selfish, self-serving gold-digger.

Kay: Dad, I'm telling you the truth. Dad, look, she -- she took advantage of Mom's amnesia, ok, and she either paid David or she blackmailed him to come here to Harmony to pretend to be Mom's first husband.

Ivy: No.

Kay: She had the money to create a fake paper trail, knowing that you would investigate him.

Sam: Which I did. And it all checked out.

Ivy: Because it was all true.

Kay: Because she is good at being sneaky. She kept the secret about Ethan being your son with her for over 20 years.

Ivy: That was completely different. Sam, I have always loved you. I admit, I've always loved you, but to lay waste to so many lives just to get you back -- I would have to be some kind of a monster to do something so evil, and I'm not. I'm not, you know I'm not. You love me. You love me, Sam. You have to believe me, you do. You have to believe me.

Gwen: Whitney is about to tell me what J.T. knows that has Theresa acting so out of character. Once I find out what the deal is, I can use it to my advantage.

Whitney: Ok, Chad's already left for work. Come on in, and we can talk, ok?

Gwen: You know, had Theresa just been honest from the start, we wouldn't be in this position.

Whitney: Well, Theresa didn't know from the start either. If she had, things would have been completely different by now.

Gwen: Right, yeah.

Whitney: You know, I was shocked when Theresa first found out from J.T. Cornell in Rome.

Gwen's Voice: Oh, my God. My mother and I were right.

Gwen: You know, Whit, not everything J.T. Cornell says is true. I mean, this whole thing with me and my mother e-mailing the tabloids about Ethan's paternity from Theresa's laptop.

Whitney: Yeah. So who told you?

Gwen: Who told me what?

Whitney: Theresa's secret? I mean it couldn't have been J.T. Cornell. You and Rebecca said that you never met him.

Gwen: Right, that's true.

Whitney: So, who told you?

Gwen: You know, Whit, since this whole thing happened, I mean my mind has just been a total whirlwind.

Whitney: Yeah, I -- I can imagine.

Gwen: So what do you think we should do about this?

Whitney: Well, I think we need to call Theresa. I mean, she has to call Ethan right away and tell him the truth before anybody else does, you know what I'm saying?

Gwen: Wait, wait, Whit, please don't call her.

Whitney: Excuse me?

Gwen: She hasn't been honest with Ethan yet. You know, why would she start now, right?

Whitney: That is -- that's true. What did Jared think we should do?

Gwen: Jared?

Whitney: Well, yeah, I mean he's the one who told you the truth, right?

Gwen: Of course, I mean, who else?

Whitney: You are such a liar. Jared doesn't know anything. I can't believe you tried to come in here and trick me into telling you Theresa's secret.

Gwen: Trick -- trick is such an ugly word. You know, share, we are sharing.

Whitney: You know what I think? I think Theresa's right about you. You are a lying, sneaking bitch just like your mother.

Gwen: You know what, Whit, I love Ethan. I don't want to lose him, ok?

Whitney: Did you ever stop to think you never had him to begin with? Get out!

Gwen: Thanks.

Whitney: I cannot believe this. I cannot believe I almost told Gwen the truth. Oh, my God, I got to warn Theresa.

Rebecca: So just tell me what the secret is. Really, just -- just unburden yourself to me the way you so wisely suggested I do to you.

Pilar: I have so many problems.

Rebecca: Oh, Pilar, we all do. We do, I mean even a wealthy, glamorous woman such as myself. I have so many problems, I mean think -- think of Gwen. I worry about her all the time.

Pilar: I worry about my children, too.

Rebecca: Maybe one in particular more than the others, like Luis or Miguel, Paloma or Theresa? Look, Pilar, not that many people know this, but I was actually a psychology major in college. I almost got my Ph.D. but I decided to take my m-r-s instead. Anyway, the only reason I'm bringing this up is because I could really, really help you. I could. All you have to do is just unburden yourself to me.

Pilar: Ok. No one else can know.

Rebecca: Oh. No one will ever find out.

Pilar: Hmm. Arrogante, imbecile!

Rebecca: What? What?

Pilar: You arrogant fool. Did you really think I was that stupid, that you can use religion to get me to confide in you? I hope you rot in hell, Rebecca. Now get out... before I take a whip to that more than ample butt of yours. I have to go warn Theresa.

Fancy: Why are you so focused on that little piece of paper?

Luis: I don't know. It could just be a piece of paper that Phyllis was going to throw away when she was killed. Or the rest of this piece of paper could be a link to Phyllis' killer.

Fancy: Well, Phyllis was still holding on to it after she died.

Luis: Exactly. And that's why I think that it's more than just a piece of paper with a smudge on it. Now, look at everything that's happened. Chris is shot outside Sheridan's cottage. My mother is shot at the mansion, and then Phyllis is strangled to death on Sheridan's floor. I am going to take this stuff down to the lab myself. The sooner I find out some information on the killer, the safer Sheridan's going to be.

Fancy: I wish Luis could be as concerned about me as he is about Sheridan.

Sheridan: What piece of paper guarantees that we'll be together from now on?

Chris: Our marriage certificate, of course.

Sheridan: Right. Of course. What else could you mean? I'm sorry, I'm just so rattled over Phyllis' murder. I -- I can't even think straight.

James: Mommy, Daddy, look what nanny and I found.

Sheridan: James, oh, sweetheart, what a beautiful leaf. Hi.

Chris: Thanks for walking him down.

Sheridan: So, I got an idea. Why don't you raise your hand and let go of the leaf, and let it fall like the trees do. You know that's why they call autumn "fall," because the leaves fall off all the trees.

James: Wow.

Sheridan: Yeah. Would you like some milk and cookies?

James: Yes, please.

Sheridan: Ok, I'll go get some while you and Daddy decide what to do next.

Chris: Well, you heard your mom. What do you feel like doing?

James: Color!

Chris: Ok, perfect. Well, you're going to color some leaves. I'll get your crayons out here. And let me get you some paper.

James: A horseshoe. I'd rather draw a horse instead of a leaf.

Little Ethan: Will you play catch with me again?

Ethan: Yeah, absolutely. You know what we should do? We should go to the ballpark and we can work on your hitting.

Ethan: Well -- oh. Girls and their gossip talk.

Theresa: Well, men gossip, too.

Ethan: No, men don't gossip. We do gossip. But just a little bit. Hey, Whit.

Whitney: Theresa, I'm so glad I found you.

Theresa: What -- what is it?

Whitney: Well Gwen came to me, pretending that she knew you had a secret.

Theresa: Oh, God. Whitney, you didn't fall for her act, did you?

Whitney: Well, no. But I came pretty darn close to it, yeah.

Theresa: Oh. Damn her.

Whitney: Gwen was good, you know. I'm going to go ahead and give her that. She almost convinced me that she knew the secret that you are keeping from Ethan. It wasn't until the last second I realized she was just trying to set me up.

Theresa: Oh, thank God you didn't tell her that Ethan is really Little Ethan's father.

Whitney: Yeah, but you still have a problem here.

Theresa: What?

Whitney: Gwen knows you have a secret. You need to be careful, honey. Gwen is not going to stop until she learns what your secret really is.

Gwen: Oh, ok, ok. Are you celebrating or are you drowning your sorrows? Oh.

Rebecca: Let's just say that Pilar is not the stupid peasant I thought she was.

Gwen: Great. We both struck out.

Rebecca: Yeah. I struck out, too.

Gwen: Ok, but we do know one thing for sure. We do know that Theresa's secret definitely concerns Ethan. We just don't know what the secret is.

Rebecca: I guess it's something.

Gwen: But you know what? I do know that J.T. Is definitely involved. I was able to get Whitney to blab that before she clammed up.

Rebecca: Well, I guess I have to call J.T. again. Ok. You know, he can't avoid me forever. I am like a flame to his moth.

J.T.: Yeah.

Rebecca: J.T., it's Becky. Shame on you for not calling me back.

J.T.: Sorry, sweet cheeks, expecting an important call. Didn't want to tie up the phone.

Rebecca: Hmm, poor J.T., you must be so tense waiting for that hush money from Theresa that she promised you.

J.T.: No comment.

Rebecca: Mm-hmm. Still, it bothers me to think of you so tense. You know, it kind of breaks my little old heart. Especially when I could help relieve those stiff muscles.

J.T.: One in particular, eh, red?

Rebecca: That's my specialty. Why don't you tell me where you are, and I'll be right over.

Gwen: You are going to go see him now?

Rebecca: Hmm. Let me see. Handcuffs... ok, aha, feather. Ha, golf ball. Mm-hmm. See, I have everything I need to get J.T. to tell me what he told Theresa.

Ivy: Sam, Sam, you have to believe me. You do, don't you? I didn't use David Hastings to ruin your marriage to Grace.

Kay: Yes she did, Dad. Yes she did. But the one thing that she did not plan on happening was David actually falling in love with Mom. That's why he was so convincing. And that's what helped Mom accept that John was her son with him.

Ivy: Give us a break, Kay. The DNA test that you insisted on proved that John was Grace's son.

Kay: Yeah, well, I'm sure she had those results changed.

Ivy: Oh, that's absurd.

Kay: This is Harmony. DNA test results are changed all the time, you know that. All it takes is some money and power, and she had plenty of both back then.

Ivy: Shut up before I rip your lying face off!

Sam: Hey, hey take it easy. Did John know Grace was his mother?

Kay: No. David lied to him, too.

Ivy: David didn't lie. John is Grace's son.

Kay: Dad, think about it. Your gut told you that David was not Mom's long-lost husband. You just could never prove it. Your gut was right, Dad. David was a fraud.

Miguel: How do you know all this?

Ivy: Yes, Kay, please tell us. If you knew this horrible, horrible secret, all this time, why did you keep it to yourself?

Sam: Kay, Ivy asked you a question. And I want you to answer it. Now how do you know she did this horrible thing you are accusing her of

Sam: Kay, what you are accusing Ivy of is so disgusting. I need to know how you know.

Miguel: We all do.

Fox: Kay.

Kay: All right. I overheard Ivy talking about it.

Sam: When?

Kay: I don't remember, exactly.

Sam: While Ivy was on the phone with who?

Kay: She was -- she was talking to David.

Sam: Ivy was on the phone with David after he and your mother left for Europe?

Kay: No, it was-- it was before that. Ivy met him at the park.

Sam: Wait, are you saying that you knew that they were working together, and yet you kept quiet all this time? Why?

Ivy: Yes, Kay, please. If you knew about my alleged plot to ruin your parents' marriage, why didn't you warn them?

Kay: Oh, you know why. Look, Dad, it's not something I'm proud of, ok? I was so angry at Mom for always choosing Charity's side over mine when it came to Miguel, and I was having his baby -- I was having his baby, Dad, and Mom still wanted him to be with Charity, and I was so hurt. You remember I was hurt, and I moved out to live at Tabitha's.

Sam: Go on.

Kay: Mom hurt me, so I wanted to hurt her. So I -- I kept quiet, because I just wanted to get her out of my life.

Miguel: Oh, my God, Kay.

Sam: Unbelievable.

Ivy: Yes, it's unbelievable, because it's all a lie.

Sam: Ivy, be quiet. I just want to make sure that I'm hearing you right. You say you not only knew that Ivy used David to come between Grace and me... you let it happen? You let your mother throw away her marriage, her family so she could run off and be with a man that she'd never met before?

Kay: Yes.

Sam: Oh, my God. Kay, what you did to your sister, your brother, me? Did you hate us that much?

Kay: No, Dad. I feel so bad. I'm so sorry. I -- I guess I just thought that Ivy would -- would be here for you to love again. I don't know, I know that's wrong, but that's just what I thought.

Ivy: You should be ashamed of yourself, Kay -- ashamed that you hurt this many people with this ridiculous lie, especially your father.

Sam: I believe her.

Ivy: What?

Sam: I believe Kay.

Ivy: Sam, you can't believe Kay. I -- I love you. I have loved you since the first minute I met you, and I have loved you every minute since then. And every minute that we haven't been together, I have been lonely and miserable and desperate --

Sam: So you used David to break up my marriage with Grace? Freeing me so I could marry you?

Ivy: I love you, Sam. I love you.

Sam: My God.

Fancy: Any word from the crime lab?

Luis: Well, they are still running tests. But Chris' fingerprints were on the pen just like he said they'd be.

Fancy: Anyone else's?

Luis: Well, they are not finished yet. Oh, boy, what's wrong? Don't tell me that piece of paper is a dead end, please.

Woman: Hardly. We think you hit the jackpot.

Fancy: Really?

Luis: How so?

Woman: Both the paper stock and ink are unique. So unique, in fact, we've only seen it once before, on all the papers the department confiscated in Alistair Crane's secret room under the Book Cafe.

Luis: You kidding me?

Woman: That's not all. Both the paper and ink match the paper and ink on Mr. Crane's files that you brought back from Rome.

Fancy: Oh, my God.

Luis: Are you sure?

Woman: Positive. I'll bet you money the paper that was ripped from has the omega symbol on it.

Luis: It was found in Sheridan's cottage.

Chris: Here's some paper, son.

James: I already found a piece. I'm drawing a picture of you, me, Mommy, and a horse.

Chris: A horse, you say?

Sheridan: Here you go, sweetheart.

James: Thanks, Mommy. Look at my drawing.

Sheridan: Oh, look at that, it's a picture of the three of us with a horse.

Ivy: Sam, stop, please. Please, I can explain.

Sam: Can you really?

Ivy: Yes. Yes, I -- I know it looks bad. But if you would just put yourself in my position and remember the love that we had, it was so magical, and it was so wonderful, and I was desperate to get it back, and the only problem was Grace. Grace, you just wouldn't leave her to be with me. And I just started thinking and then -- and then it just all kind of happened.

Sam: Oh, oh, it just kind of happened?

Ivy: Yes.

Sam: You are a liar. It took time, money, and tremendous effort for you to conceive and execute such an elaborate plan.

Ivy: I know what I did was wrong, Sam. I know it. But it all turned out all right. Grace and David, they are happy. And you and I, we are happy.

Sam: Happy? Ivy, you had me living a lie!

Ivy: I love you! And you love me and that is the truth.

Sam: Christ, I don't even know who you are, Ivy.

Ivy: I am the mother of your first-born child, the woman who has loved you her entire life and who has moved heaven and earth to be with you and will do everything -- everything in her power to make you happy every day of your life.

Sam: Do you think that I'm going to marry you now? Huh?

Ivy: Sam, my dress, my dress is right there. And if I get the stain out, it'll be as good as new, just like us.

Sam: Ivy, Ivy. Get a clue, ok? There is no more us, ok? Not anymore.

Ivy: Don't say that, Sam, please, don't. Don't say that.

Pilar: Theresa.

Theresa: What is it, Mama?

Pilar: Rebecca. She showed up at the house pretending to be my friend to try to learn the information that you are keeping about Ethan.

Whitney: Gwen did the same exact thing... tried to get me to tell her Theresa's secret.

Pilar: Of course I didn't tell her anything. The audacity of that woman --

Whitney: Well, it's kind of freaking me out that Gwen and Rebecca are getting so desperate, though.

Pilar: What are you going to do, mija?

Theresa: Nothing.

Pilar: Nada?

Whitney: Nothing?

Theresa: Look, we now know what Gwen and Rebecca are up to, right? So we just have to be extra careful not to slip up. We have to make sure that they do not find J.T. Cornell.

Rebecca: J.T., it's Becky.

J.T.: Just a minute.

J.T.: Coming. Hi.

Rebecca: Oh my. Oh, J.T. the past few hours being without you has just been agony for my poor, needy soul.

J.T.: Oh, tell me about it. A vibrating bed is only as good as its last quarter, and I just ran out a half an hour ago.

Rebecca: Well, what are waiting for then? See, I brought toys. So, you give me what I want, and you will get what you want.

J.T.: Come and get it.

Rebecca: Oh, my. Well. You have to tell me about what you told Theresa in Rome.

J.T.: Oh ok, I'm thinking... really hard.

Rebecca: Well, maybe this will jog your memory.

J.T.: Oh, Becks, I can't wait to take a walk down memory lane.

Ivy: Sam, what Kay said, it doesn't have to change anything. You and I, we can get married, and we can be together like we were always supposed to be.

Sam: Ivy, Kay is not the problem and what you did to Grace, to me, my family, it's unforgivable.

Ivy: No, Sam, don't say that.

Sam: Get away from me. You stay the hell away from me. Now, I want you out of this house by the time I get home.

Ivy: I have no place to go, Sam.

Sam: You listen to me, for your own sake, I want you out of this house. Because if you are here when I get home, I may not be responsible for my actions.

Kay: I'm sorry.

Miguel: For helping to ruin your parents' lives, or for your role in it finally coming out?

Kay: Both, I guess. Miguel, wait. Look, I know what I did was wrong, but I have changed since then. You know that.

Miguel: I've known you since we were kids, Kay. Since we were kids. And yes, we've done things we should be ashamed of, but this, what you've done tonight, is -- you were -- forget it, Kay, forget it.

Kay: Miguel, wait, please, don't go, please.

Fox: Please, don't go after him, all right?

Kay: He hates me, everybody does.

Fox: I don't.

Kay: You don't?

Fox: Miguel, he can't understand why you did what you did. I do. I understand how that you felt betrayed and hurt and how that hurt -- it drove you to do what you did. You can't be a Crane and not understand that.

Kay: Oh, Fox.

Luis: That lab tech is convinced that this paper is directly connected to Alistair's omega plot.

Fancy: So what was a Crane maid doing with it? In Aunt Sheridan's cottage, no less.

Luis: I don't know, ok? But it's not good. It could mean that Alistair's omega plot isn't over, that he had people in place to finish whatever it was that he started.

Fancy: Yeah, only my grandfather would reach out from the grave and haunt all of us.

Luis: You know, Sheridan could be in real danger.

Sheridan: This is definitely a keeper.

James: What's that on the back?

Chris: Oh, that's nothing. You know what? I think we need to keep this in a safe place so that we never lose it.

James: Ok.

Sheridan: I agree. This is one of our first Halloween treats.

Chris: You know what? That reminds me. We need a Jack-o-lantern for Halloween. Why don't you take mommy up to the garage and you guys pick a pumpkin that we can carve? I harvested them earlier.

James: Ok.

Sheridan: All right. Let's go pick out three, one for each of us.

Chris: I want a big one, ok?

Sheridan: Take my hand. Ready to go carve some pumpkins? What do you want to carve on it? A big scary face?

James: Yeah.

Sheridan: Yeah? Ok, me, too.

Chris: I'll do anything to keep Sheridan from knowing my connection to Alistair.

Chris: Anything.

Pilar: Breaks my heart to see those two together, not knowing they are father and son.

Theresa: I hate it, too, Mama. But in order for my son to have the future that his father should have had, I have to keep his paternity a secret.

Whitney: Well, I'm not going to say a word.

Pilar: Neither will I, but that's not going to stop Gwen and Rebecca from trying to learn your secret.

Theresa: Look, I know, Mama. But we're the only ones who know the truth that Ethan is really Little Ethan's father, and we are not going to say anything.

Whitney: But what about J.T. Cornell? He knows.

Theresa: Yeah, I know, but he promised me that he will keep quiet, and he will leave town once I pay him off. So my secret is safe.

Rebecca: Ok, how does that feel?

J.T.: Aah, so good.

Rebecca: Hmm. And how about that?

J.T.: Why did you -- why did you do that?

Rebecca: I just had to remind you that it's a fine line between pleasure and pain. And if you, J.T., ever want to feel pleasure again, you are going to have to tell me Theresa's secret.

J.T.: Ok, ok, I will tell you everything I know.

On the Next Passions:

Chris: Sheridan thinks I'm here to take care of her. If only she knew what a threat I represent.

Noah: I can't believe you let Ivy do this to us.

J.T.: I will tell you Theresa's secret.
