Tabitha: Dead meat.

Kay: What?  Tabitha, I can't understand a word you're saying in that ridiculous beekeepers outfit.

Tabitha: I said, Miguel's a dead man.

Kay: You don't really think that Fox will kill him, do you?

Tabitha: Oh, yes I do.  In my vast experience, when a man catches his woman with another man and storms off without a word, he's off looking for a lethal weapon.  Asta la vista, Miguel.

Kay: Oh, you're just in a bad mood cause of your witch's virus, and I don't blame you, but don't try to get me all upset over nothing.  I know Fox, ok?  Even if he saw me with Miguel, he would never become violent.  He's just not that type of person.  He wouldn't hurt a fly.

Fox: Now's time for the shock of your life, Miguel.

Fancy: Luis's been gone for too long.  I guess he's not coming back.

Fancy: Luis.

Luis: Hey.

Fancy: I thought you'd gone home.

Luis: Nope. Still here. I was thinking about what you asked me earlier.

Fancy: Oh, that.

Luis: About you and me and Sheridan.

Fancy: Don't worry about it.

Luis: You were wondering whether or not I was using you to try and replace Sheridan.

Fancy: Right.

Luis: It was an honest question. And I'd say it deserves an honest answer.

Theresa: Just tell me this is some kind of perverse joke. Tell me that you're really not representing this crackpot, disgruntled, ex-Crane employee in some half-baked legal suit to extort money, Ethan.

Stuart: Your company has underestimated me for years, Mrs. Crane. Don't you do the same.

Theresa: This is crazy.

Stuart: No, crazy is allowing Crane Industries to rob me of my patent, make money off my idea for years. Crazy I'm not.

Theresa: I don't believe this. I don't -- I don't believe any of this.

Stuart: That's your problem. Fortunately for me, my attorney does. And my attorney, Mr. Winthrop, is going to make sure that I am reimbursed for every penny for my pain and suffering.

Theresa: Please. You just want to drive Crane Industries into the ground.

Stuart: That, too. By the time we're done presenting our case, your company and its stock will be utterly and totally worthless, and that's why I hired the best.

Theresa: You can't do this, Ethan. If you destroy my company, you will destroy me.

Kay: Look, I know Fox, ok? And he is not the least bit violent. He would never try to kill anyone.

Tabitha: Otherwise reasonable people can be driven to extreme measures, Kay.

Kay: We're not even sure that he saw me and Miguel together.

Tabitha: He must have or the mermaid's curse wouldn't have been reversed. Miguel would still be under Siren's spell.

Kay: Look, I think the spell only worked because Fox was already jealous of Miguel, ok? I'm sure I would have seen him, Tabitha, if he walked in on us.

Tabitha: Unless you were otherwise engaged.

Kay: I was keeping an eye out for him. I was!

Tabitha: It only would have taken a second, Kay. You might well have missed him.

Kay: You know what, I just remembered. Aren't you supposed to be casting a spell to make Miguel forget about almost making love to me tonight? He cannot remember, or things with Fox -- oh, God, they will definitely not work out.

Tabitha: I'd better get on it then before the virus I've contracted gets completely out of control. Loosen some of my bindings, will you?

Kay: Ooh, Tabitha. My God, you're like a living helium balloon.

Tabitha: I wouldn't call the one being who possesses the power to help you any names right now.

Kay: Sorry.

Tabitha: Never mind. I'm just worried that this virus -- Judas H. Priest!

Kay: What? Don't tell me that you cannot make Miguel forget about what happened tonight.

Tabitha: No, Kay. This is about me and my virus. I knew I had to leave town to be cured, but it says here the only cure is for me to travel to the fourth ring of Saturn and eat the root of a special plant while at the same time avoiding a meteor shower.

Kay: What? Saturn?

Tabitha: Yes, Kay. One of the planets. Will you watch my darling demonette while I'm off in outer space?

Kay: You're really going to go?

Tabitha: What choice do I have? I can't very well walk around like this forever.

Kay: Fine, but before you go, will you please help me with Miguel? Just make him forget about what happened tonight, ok? Thank you.

Tabitha: Where are you going?

Kay: To be with Fox, make things right with him.

Tabitha: You mean --

Kay: Yes, I'm going to make love to him. I've got to make sure that this spell is broken. Gosh, I just want to get things back to the way they were before that flighty fish face came to town.

Tabitha: Good luck.

Kay: If the Red Sox can break their curse, I can break one cast by some trampy mermaid, ok?

Tabitha: How simplistic these mortals be. Your troubles are only beginning, Kay.

Miguel: What the hell?

Fox: This will teach you to mess around with my fiancée.

Kay: Miguel? Oh, my God, Fox, what have you done?

Fancy: You know, we don't have to talk about this now. My timing was lousy. It's not like I expect you to know exactly how you feel about us.

Luis: No, it's ok. You deserve an answer or at least an explanation to how I've been acting.

Fancy: Well, the last thing I want is to put you on the spot or give you any more pressure than you're under already, what with your mother's shooting and --

Luis: Any chance I could talk here?

Fancy: Sure. I just wanted you to know I respect whatever your time schedule is, and I know I shouldn't have backed you into a corner. You have every right to work things out in your own time and your own way. I mean, you and Sheridan were together in love forever and --

Luis: Fancy --

Fancy: She's my aunt, so God knows if anyone respects what went on with you two, it's me, so please just -- you ought to just forget what I --

Luis: Is there any chance that I can talk here? You asked me earlier if I was using you to try and replace Sheridan. I thought about it. You know what? That was a good question. And I was using you. I'm sorry.

Theresa: I've never felt so betrayed in my life.

Stuart: Now you know what it feels like, Mrs. Crane. I worked my tail off for years for Crane Industries. I was dedicated and loyal to the bone. And in return I was treated like dirt, and my idea stolen right out from underneath me. You owe me, lady. You owe me big.

Theresa: I don't know what you're talking about, Mr. Allen. Now if Crane Industries did cross some line with you, I certainly was no part of it.

Gwen: Theresa, you're CEO of the company. Doesn't that make you responsible for any and all of its actions?

Theresa: Yes, Gwen, but --

Jared: Theresa, don't say anything.

Stuart: No, save it for the courtroom. I'm sure the jury's going to rule in favor of the little guy and against you and all members of the Crane family. Yes, you and all the Crane mucky-mucks are going down.

Ethan: Ok, Stuart, that is enough. I don't think this is going to do anyone any good right now. I would advise you to leave.

Stuart: Why should I leave?

Ethan: Because you asked me to represent you in this case. I think the least you can do is take my advice.

Gwen: We'll be in touch, Mr. Allen.

Theresa: Well, he's gone, Ethan. So now you can tell me what on earth possessed you to take that man's case. A man who wants to destroy me and my company?!

Gwen: Oh, please. Please can the melodrama. Theresa, the only reason it's your company is because your deceased ex-husband had a severely twisted sense of humor, ok? Now if you ask me, this is payback for your insatiable greed.

Theresa: Just shut up, Gwen.

Gwen: Well, Theresa, first you marry Julian, at least you think you do. And then when that doesn't pan out financially for you, you hop into bed with the old man. Now that's pretty sick.

Ethan: Come on, Gwen.

Gwen: Ethan, I'm only telling it like it is. Look, it's not like Theresa actually earned her keys to the executive powder room, unless you count all the times she slept with father and son to get there.

Jared: Hey, you're going to be quiet right now.

Gwen: You're very noble and I like that. You know, your new boyfriend is very gallant.

Jared: No, I'm serious. I wouldn't sell Theresa short. I've worked with top execs all over the country. She's just as smart and as skilled as all of them.

Gwen: Skilled? I'm sorry, Jared. Do you mean in the boardroom or the bedroom?

Ethan: Gwen.

Theresa: You know what? It's ok. You two don't need to defend me to this one over there. Ethan, this is about you and me. I do not understand why you took this man's case.

Ethan: I wasn't going to at first.

Theresa: So what changed your mind?

Ethan: I believe Stuart Allen has a legitimate grievance, Theresa. That's why.

Theresa: Ok, not that I believe that, but even if he did --

Ethan: Theresa, I have not been able to work in my field for a long time thanks to you blackballing me from every legal firm in this country.

Theresa: So you did this to pay me back?

Ethan: No. This job is important to me. And I'm hoping to make partner one day, and if I do well with this case, I might just do that.

Theresa: So you're trying to make partner by crushing me and the company that you helped build, Ethan. That is low. That is really low.

Gwen: Well, that is quite something coming from someone who's lived half of her life in the gutter.

Kay: Oh, my God, no! Miguel, no, no, no, no, no! Oh, my God.

Fox: Yeah, you weren't supposed to see this.

Kay: Murderer! You killed him!

Fox: He deserved to die, Kay. I saw you. I saw the two of you together. I wasn't just going to let him have the woman that I love.

Kay: But you killed him! Oh, my God, Fox! You killed Miguel! Oh, God! God!

Miguel: Ooh -- brr, enough with the cold water.

Kay: Fox? Are you up here? Fox?

Fox: Not yet.

Miguel: Anyone there?

Kay: Fox?

Miguel: No, it's just me.

Kay: Oh, hey.

Miguel: I was hoping you'd be looking for me.

Kay: Actually, I --

Miguel: You know, it'd be nice if we picked up where we left off.

Kay: I don't think that --

Miguel: Don't be nervous. I know you love me now. There's nothing wrong with us being together.

Kay: Miguel --

Miguel: Don't fight it. Don't fight it, Kay.

Fancy: It's ok. I'm not crying.

Luis: I'm sorry.

Fancy: No, there's nothing to be sorry about. It was my fault for pushing you and for expecting so much so soon. I know you loved Sheridan so deeply. Who am I to come along and think you'd want to be with me? How self-centered is that?

Luis: Fancy, stop.

Fancy: No, it's all right. I just want you to know there's nothing to feel bad about. Al, kind of expected this.

Luis: Look, what I am sorry for is using you to try and replace Sheridan. Someone as wonderful as you are -- you deserve better than that.

Fancy: You didn't mean to.

Luis: No, you deserve better.

Fancy: Thanks for making me try to feel better, but I am much stronger than I look. I'll live.

Luis: I have more to say.

Fancy: I'm not as dense as you think I am, Luis. It's better that it's out in the open, that you admit you were using me to replace Sheridan.

Luis: I'm not finished.

Fancy: Oh.

Luis: Look --

Fancy: Ok.

Luis: Hey, what I am trying to say is that I thought about what you asked me and I realized I do have feelings for you.

Fancy: Yeah, you mean as a friend.

Luis: More than that. And here's the thing -- I don't want some ghost from the past coming in between us, you know? Ruining something that might potentially work.

Fancy: Wait, you mean --

Luis: I want to start fresh. I want what we have to be genuine and real.

Fancy: Are you sure?

Luis: I'm very sure. I like you. I want us to be together.

Fancy: Oh, Luis.

Theresa: This isn't like you, Ethan... to go after me like this.

Gwen: Theresa, you've had this coming for years. This and a hell of a lot more.

Jared: What is with you, lady? I thought you were a decent human being.

Gwen: Jared, look, you don't know the half of what Theresa's done to Ethan and me, ok? Because it wasn't just mean; it was criminal.

Jared: Well, I'm not interested in your laundry list of Tess' wrongdoings. Everyone has done things they're not proud of.

Theresa: Thank you, Jared.

Jared: You're welcome. You know, she's grown up and matured. And most important, she's not into Ethan, so get over it. She's with me now.

Ethan: Come on, let's go.

Theresa: Wait, wait. You're just -- you're going to walk away, just like that?

Ethan: Theresa, look, I don't know what more there is to say. I'm opposing counsel in a suit that's been filed against you. As a matter of fact, we shouldn't even -- shouldn't even be in the same room.

Theresa: This is crazy, Ethan.

Ethan: It's late.

Gwen: You're right, let's just go back to our room, ok? But I am very, very proud of you for doing the right thing.

Theresa: This isn't the right thing. This is as wrongheaded as anything that I have ever heard of.

Ethan: That's a matter of opinion, Theresa.

Theresa: Why don't you answer just one question for me, Ethan? When did you decide to take that case?

Ethan: Today.

Theresa: What time today? Before or after you came to the inn?

Ethan: What are you talk -- this is completely irrelevant. Come on, let's just --

Theresa: Let me guess. You decided to take the case after you saw Jared and me making love.

Gwen: Uh, is that true?

Tabitha: Hocus pocus, keep the focus. First things first.

Fox: I guess the joke's on me, huh, Kay? Trusting you not to cheat on me with the father of your little girl.

Tabitha: I hate to think of the storm brewing inside that young lad right now. Back to the matter at hand. I must work my magic to make Miguel forget what he and Kay did tonight. Whew! Too bad for Kay we can't make Fox forget as well.

Kay: I have my clothes on.

Miguel: We can take care of that.

Kay: Wait, Miguel, you don't understand.

Miguel: I do understand. You've made your feelings clear and I couldn't be happier. Kay, you love me as much as I love you.

Kay's voice: Hurry, Tabitha, hurry.

Tabitha: Memories of passion, memories of fun, memories period, let them all be done! Finally! That better mean it worked.

Miguel: What the heck?

Kay: God, that's so weird.

Miguel: What's going on? Kay, what are you doing in here with your clothes on?

Kay: What do you mean? Oh! Oh, oh.

Miguel: Kay, get out of the shower right now. You don't want Fox to find you in here like this.

Kay: Right, right, right, right, right, right, right.

Miguel: You want to tell me what you're doing in here while I'm taking a shower?

Kay: I'm sorry. Um, I -- I was actually looking for Fox, and I just sort of slipped on the floor here and I fell in there. I'm sorry.

Miguel: Well, I'm glad he didn't come in, because he wouldn't have understood this at all.

Kay: I know, I know. You're right. Ok, I'm going to go.

Kay's voice: Oh, it worked. Thank you, Tabitha.

Tabitha: Let's hope the spell worked and Miguel remembers nothing of l'amore with Kay. Now I've got to skedaddle. I can't let anyone see me like this. Oh, if only I can make it to my room. Even if I've gotten Miguel out of the way, Kay has got her work cut out for her with Fox. Who knew there was such turmoil in that young lad's soul?

Kay: Fox. I didn't know you were in here.

Fox: Where did you think I was?

Kay: I -- I don't know.

Fox: Never mind me. Where have you been?

Kay: Me?

Fox: Yeah, you. You're soaking wet.

Kay: Oh, yeah, it was the kitchen. That's -- that's where I was. I was in the kitchen with Tabitha and -- it's so crazy -- I was filling the ice trays and I actually spilled one all over the front of me here.

Fox: And the back.

Kay: Oh, yeah, and the back. And the back, too. Got to put on some dry clothes.

Fox: You do that.

Fox's voice: Guess you joined Miguel for a quickie in the shower and thought you could change before you saw me. You are such a bad liar, Kay.

Kay: I'm so glad to see you.

Fox: Is that right?

Kay: Of course it's right. I love you so much.

Fox: I am so glad to hear that.

Kay: Really?

Fox: Yes, really. You're all I think about, Kay. You and how much you love me.

Fancy: I can't believe this.

Luis: You thought I was trying to let you down gently, didn't you?

Fancy: I was sure of it. So you really like me?

Luis: Looks like it.

Fancy: Do you know how great that is?

Luis: How great?

Fancy: This great.

Fancy: Whoo!

Luis: What are you doing?

Fancy: Celebrating.

Luis: Celebrating?

Fancy: With you.

Luis: Wh -- ahh!

Luis: Oh -- oh, my God. You.

Fancy: What? What's wrong? What aren't you telling me?

Luis: I'm sorry to spoil the moment, but we can't do this. We can't just break the rules.

Fancy: What rules?

Luis: What rules? Harmony PD rules.

Fancy: Oh, no.

Luis: Section eight --

Fancy and Luis: Paragraph 11.

Luis: No officer can socialize with a cadet.

Fancy: That means --

Luis: Sorry, we can't do this, Fancy. We can't date.

Theresa: So when did you decide to ruin my life? Before or after you saw Jared and me making love?

Gwen: You never said anything about that.

Theresa: He came to the door of our room by accident. That's what he claimed. Well, Ethan?

Ethan: Theresa, it's a ridiculous accusation. It's got no bearing on anything.

Theresa: Why don't you answer the question?

Ethan: Fine. I'll answer your question if you insist, though I don't know why it matters. Yes, I made up my mind after I saw you and Jared.

Theresa: I knew it. You took this case because you're so jealous that I'm with Jared now.

{Miguel: Please, Kay, now.

Kay: Oh, Miguel. Oh, God, yes! }

Miguel: Where'd that come from? Couldn't have happened. Wishful thinking on my part -- wanting to be a family with the mother of my baby girl. If I only had the nerve to tell Kay how I really feel.

Kay's voice: There's only one way to make sure I've broken Siren's curse.

Fox: What's that for?

Kay: Make love to me.

Fox: Now?

Kay: Yes, right now. I need you.

Kay: I must be the luckiest girl in the world.

Fancy: But you just said you like me the way I like you, that you wanted to go out with me.

Luis: Yeah, because I do. I just got so completely caught up in the moment, I totally forgot about the rulebook.

Fancy: Well, the hell with the rules.

Luis: Police officers, especially training officers, are expressly forbidden to date recruits.

Fancy: But how would anyone even know? We could be very discreet, just not go out in public.

Luis: Oh, come on. I wouldn't like that, and I don't think you would either. And besides, what kind of example would I be setting if I just broke the rules because I wanted something so badly?

Fancy: Does that mean you really want me?

Luis: Of course I do. I'd be crazy not to.

Fancy: Then it's just not fair. I finally get you to notice me, even want to take me out, and now you're telling me it can't go anywhere because I'm a police cadet. That's got to be the dumbest rule I ever heard of.

Luis: Well, of course, as you know, civilians aren't bound by police department rules.

Fancy: What do you mean?

Luis: Well, if you weren't a cadet, then we could date and no one could say anything about it.

Fancy: Mm-hmm. I hadn't thought of that.

Luis: So what do you say? Are you willing to give up the academy training program and go out with me? Forget about being a cop?

Theresa: You took this case out of jealousy, didn't you?

Jared: Come on, Tess.

Gwen: You're really something else, you know? I mean, do you just think that everything centers around you?

Jared: Hey, I don't think that's the case here.

Gwen: Well, you know what, Jared? I do. And you haven't been around long enough to know how she operates, so it's really not your fault.

Ethan: I can assure you, my decision was based on legal factors, Theresa. It was nothing personal.

Theresa: I don't believe that for a minute.

Gwen: Well, of course you don't, because you can't get it through your thick head that there is nothing personal left between you and Ethan. He took this case because it is the perfect vehicle for him to showcase what an outstanding lawyer he is. Whatever pull that you think you still have over him had nothing to do with it, right?

Stuart: I know you want me out of here. Then don't make such a racket I can't get to sleep. Besides, if this has anything to do with my case, I have every right to be here.

Ethan: Stuart, you're absolutely right. Theresa, from here on in, you should consider any relationship that we have to be completely adversarial. You need to think of me solely as opposing counsel.

Theresa: How could you do this, Ethan? How could you? After --

Gwen: Wait, after what?

Theresa: How could you?

Tabitha: I must not let anyone else see me. I've got to get out of here.

Miguel: Tabitha, it's me, Miguel.

Tabitha: I'm indisposed.

Miguel: I was just wondering if you needed anything. I heard a lot of noises in there like pots and pans banging.

Tabitha: I'm fine.  It was just the radio.

Miguel: If you say so. I was just concerned.

Tabitha: No need. Oh, but I ought to tell you I'll be going away for a bit.

Miguel: Really? Where?

Tabitha: Oh, I haven't finalized my itinerary yet, but the thing is, I'll be leaving Endora here. Kay said she'd look after her.

Miguel: Oh, sure, no problem. Just make sure you leave us a number so we can reach you.

Tabitha: Of course.  I doubt they have 411 on Saturn. Take care, Miguel.

Miguel: You, too.

Tabitha: I do hope Kay is going to be all right in my absence.

Kay's voice: Oh, thank God everything's still good with Fox. If he only knew what I had to do to break that mermaid's curse.

Kay: That was incredible.

Fox: Yes, that was something else.

Fox's voice: You'll never be with Miguel again, Kay. That's a threat and a promise.

Luis: So if you drop out of the academy, nobody could say nothing about us dating.

Fancy: It's very tempting.

Luis: So what do you say? I'm sure Theresa will give you your job back at Crane.

Fancy: Mm.

Luis: Hmm?

Fancy: No. I'm not quitting the academy.

Luis: You serious?

Fancy: I can't quit now, Luis. It's the best, most fulfilling thing I've ever done in my life. I want to be a policeman. I mean, a policewoman.

Luis: Wow. Because I thought this whole time you signed up just so that you could hang around me.

Fancy: I did at first, but now I'm into it. I don't want to stop, even to go out with you.

Luis: Oh, all right then. That settles it. No dating until you are a full-fledged cop.

Fancy: Ok. Oh, I can't believe I'm saying this.

Luis: You can always change your mind.

[Both laugh]

Fancy: No. But can a cadet kiss her training officer?

Luis: I don't think so.

Fancy: I mean, just a little kiss, like a friendly kiss. A friend kissing another friend.

Luis: Friend to friend?

Fancy: Yeah.

Luis: Maybe that's all right.

Fancy: I was hoping you'd say that.

Luis: Wow. If that's just a friendly kiss, I can't wait to see the way you kiss someone you're really dating.

Fancy: I guess you'll just have to wait for that, sir.

Luis: You sure you don't want to drop out of cadet class now?

Fancy: Tempting as that may be, no. How long is this course, anyway?

Luis: Too long, if you ask me.

Kay: Oh, God. Tabitha, you look worse every time I see you.

Tabitha: You look a little tousled yourself, young lady.

Kay: I am a little tousled. I was with Fox.

Tabitha: Really?

Kay: Yes. I reversed Siren's mermaid curse. I'm not sure how, but I know that Fox couldn't have made love to me if he was still under her spell, right?

Tabitha: True enough.

Kay: And the best part is that Miguel doesn't remember anything that happened tonight, so everything's perfect now.

Tabitha: Hmm, I wouldn't be so sure. The third part of the spell reversal specifically requires that Fox catch you and another man in flagrante, so to speak.

Kay: But he never saw me with Miguel. I know; I mean, if he had, he would have said something.

Tabitha: Fox must have seen you with Miguel and decided to keep it to himself.

Kay: No, now why would he do that? No. Trust me, if Fox saw me making out with Miguel, he would have said something.

Tabitha: Unless, as I'm theorizing, he's holding it in.

Kay: No, that's just not Fox.

Tabitha: Let's hope for your sake you're right.

Miguel: One day we'll be together as a family, Kay. No matter what I have to do.

Jared: You have to put aside everything personal you have between you and Ethan.

Theresa: Jared, that's what this is all about.

Jared: Yeah, well, you're going to win this if you let your emotions get in the way.

Theresa: No, you're right, you're right.

Jared: This is a battle for your future. You've got to pull out all stops, be as ruthless as you can.

Theresa: Yeah. You're right, yes. You know what, if Ethan can betray me like this, then he deserves whatever he gets. I will do whatever is necessary to win.

Ethan: Look, Stuart, it's very late.

Stuart: I know, but I'd like to know the strategy you're going to use on my case.

Ethan: I understand, but to be honest, I haven't had a hell of a lot of time to think about it up until now. But as soon as I have a game plan, I will let you know.

Stuart: See that you do.

Gwen: I am very proud of you. I wasn't sure that you were going to stick to your guns.

Ethan: That makes two of us.

Gwen: But you did, and it's going to be worth it. You know how I know?

Ethan: Hmm?

Gwen: I saw the look on Theresa's face when you told her you were representing Mr. Allen, and I think that she is really over you. Honey, there will be no more Theresa standing in the way of our future happiness. I think Theresa is finally out of our lives for good.

On the Next Passions:

Fox: I've been doing a lot of soul searching. I've had a change of heart.

Katherine: You can't stop loving Luis any more than you can stop breathing.

Theresa: I will fight Ethan.
