Tabitha:  Trust me, Kay.  Using Miguel to make Fox jealous is as big a mistake as Lincoln thinking a night at the theatre would cheer up his wife.

Kay: Look, the spell book says that the only way to break the mermaid's curse is to make Fox so jealous he's willing to kill and the only thing I can think of to do is to get Miguel to make love to me so Fox goes postal.

Tabitha: Yes, but then what?

Kay: Siren's curse is finished.  Then Fox can make love to me again and Miguel is safe from that slutty sea bass.

Tabitha: Aren't you forgetting something, Kay?

Kay: What?

Tabitha: Well, Fox will hate you for being unfaithful to him, and Miguel will hate you for using him.

Kay: I'll worry about that later, ok? After I seduce Miguel.

Fox: Father?

Julian: Fox.

Fox: What brings you here?

Julian: I have some tickets for tonight's Red Sox game in Boston. I was wondering if you'd like to join me.

Fox: Thank you, but I may have plans.

Julian: Oh. Hopefully, you took my advice when we spoke earlier and you're doing whatever it takes to keep Miguel away from Kay.

Fox: I doubt it'll come to that, Dad. You see, I've decided that whatever vibe I was getting from Kay that she was having doubts about getting married -- it was just her having pre-wedding jitters.

Man: Good day, sir. Welcome to the Seacliff Inn.

Ethan: Thank you. Could you ring Stuart Allen's room for me please? Tell him that Ethan Winthrop is waiting for him.

Man: Certainly, sir. Mr. Allen? This is the front desk, and Ethan Winthrop is here to see you. I will, sir. Mr. Allen said to come right up. He's in room 438.

Ethan: 438. Thank you.

Man: Thank you for calling Seacliff Inn.

Theresa: Sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. You know what? We really -- we shouldn't be doing this right now. We're here to woo a new client for Crane Industries, so we need to, you know, keep things professional.

Jared: You're the boss.

Theresa: I hope you're not angry.

Jared: Frustrated, yes. But I'm not angry.  I don't want to rush you into anything you're not ready for.

Theresa: Thank you.

Jared: Do you mind if I put on some music?

Theresa: Yeah, please. Go ahead. It'll make working less stressful.

Paloma: Luis -- I mean, sir, the duty sergeant needs you to sign this.

Luis: Thank you, cadet.

{Sheridan: Fancy, all I can tell you is what I said before. You're free to pursue a relationship with Luis. That doesn't mean you're going to end up happily Ever after.

Fancy: I know.

Sheridan: But rest assured I won't stand in your way. }

Fancy: Please keep your word, Aunt Sheridan. Please stay with Chris.

Spike: So, deal or no deal? You either embezzle money from Crane Industries and funnel it to me, or I tell Sher-Sher that her husband lives with a shady past who was hired by her dear dead daddy to seduce her with love.

Chris: Sheridan, I can explain.

Sheridan: Honestly, Chris, how could you be so careless? I have been growing this orchid for years.

Chris's voice: Orchid?

Spike: Orchid?

Sheridan: I finally got it to bloom, and now the shock of it falling to the floor will probably kill it.

Chris: Sheridan, I'm sorry, I was trying to straighten up before you got home and before I knew it, the orchid and the pot and the dirt was everywhere.  I'm sorry.

Sheridan: Orchid's are so delicate.  It'll never survive this.

Chris:  Well, buy another one.

Sheridan: I don't want another one.  I want this one.

{Sheridan: Oh, Luis, it's beautiful.

Luis: It's rare and once it blooms it lasts--well it seems like forever.

Sheridan: You just described our love.

Luis:  That's what I told the lady.

Sheridan: Thank you, Luis.  I love it and I love you.  }

Sheridan: I mean, I know it sounds silly, but this orchid means a lot to me.

Chris:  Well, we'll do everything we can to save it.

Sheridan: It may be too late.

Chris: Well we'll never know unless we try.

Sheridan: I suppose.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Spike: Well ain't that the truth, Sher-Sher.  My little arrangement with your husband is gonna gain me a chunk of your family fortune.

Luis: Ok, take those to the duty sargeant.

Paloma: Yes, sir.

Luis: One more thing, cadet.  If you do make it through training and get your badge, and that is a big if, your nightmares are not going to be about perps chasing you with guns.  They're going to be about anyone coming at you with paperwork.  That's one damn crime around here no one seems to be able to solve.

Paloma:  I'll remember that, sir.

Luis: You do that.  Dismissed.

Roberto:  Para mija.

Paloma: Roberto!

Roberto: I missed you so much that I ran straight from the airport.

Luis: Ahem.  I think you dropped these.

Paloma: Si, gracias.  Luis, you remember Roberto, right?

Luis: Of course I do.  We met before.

Roberto: Yes, yes.  Your aunt Maria sends her love.  You know she's been going to mass three times a day to pray or your mother's recovery.

Paloma: Que dios te bendiga tia Maria.

Roberto: I told him I thought you were teasing me when you said that you want to become a policeman.

Paloma: Policewoman, por favor.

Luis: Police officer, cadet.

Paloma: Perdon. I realized I love solving mysteries so much that I decided to train to be paid to do it.

Luis: You can try and talk her out of it if you like.

Roberto: Yeah, gracias. I'll try.

Paloma: Did you know that I'm tops at the police firing range?

Luis: Good luck with this one. I think you're going to need it.

Paloma: Permission to take a break, sir?

Luis: Granted, soon as you get the duty sergeant those papers.

Paloma: Yes, sir.

Luis: All right.

Fancy: Roberto's back.

Luis: Looks that way.

Fancy: Nice.  Is there anything I can help you with, sir?

Luis: No, and at ease. I'm still running my background check on Chris.

Fancy: Turn up anything yet?

Luis: No, but I should know something soon.

Fancy: I'd hate to think Aunt Sheridan married a criminal.

Luis: Yeah, well, like I said, I'll know something soon.

Fancy: While we're waiting, let's go for something to eat, my treat.

Luis: You know, I think I'm just going to stay here and have a sandwich at my desk.

Fancy: That is so not fun. Let's try the new rib place down the street.

Luis: I wish I could, but I can't.

Fancy: Why not?

Luis: Not allowed to fraternize with cadets.

Fancy: Oh. Don't tell me. Sam found out about us naked in the shower together?

Luis: No, no.

Fancy: Then why not?

Luis: Section eight, paragraph 11, Harmony Police Department. See for yourself.

Theresa: Ok. Since the client did call to postpone our meeting, I think that we should use this time to keep working.

Jared: Oyster? Keep up your strength.

Theresa: They do that, too?

Jared: Well, try it and see.

Theresa: Mm. That goes down smooth.

Jared: Better with this.

Theresa: Yes, much, much, much, better.

Theresa: That's good.

Jared: Really?

Theresa: Mm-hmm. You got to try that.

Jared: Mm. It is good.

Kay: Tabitha, relax, ok? I know what I'm doing.

Tabitha: Yes, that's what Napoleon told me the night before he fought the Battle of Waterloo.

Kay: Well, I'm sorry that you used to hang out with a bunch of losers, ok? But my plan is going to work. I'm going to make love to Miguel in front of Fox until he gets so mad, he tries to kill him, and that's going to break the mermaid's curse.

Tabitha: Yes, but what's going to happen after that?

Kay: I already told you. The curse will be over.

Tabitha: Actually, that could be quite inconsequential.

Kay: Now how can you say that?

Tabitha: Well, for starters, Fox will be enraged that you have betrayed him with Miguel, and he'll be heartbroken that his bride to be is double-dipping with her first love. And what about Miguel? I mean, what are you going to do, lead him on? Tell him you love him and you don't want to be with anyone else? And then what? You're going to just toss him out of bed and say, "oh, my mistake. I'm still with Fox."

Miguel: Kay? Kay, where are you?

Kay: Miguel's here.

Kay: Ok, go, go, go, go, go. I have to get ready.

Tabitha: I'm not going until you answer my question.

Kay: Ugh what was it again?

Tabitha: Are you willing to hurt them both, both Fox and Miguel, in order to break the mermaid's curse?

Kay: Tabitha, look, I don't want to hurt anyone, but I don't have a choice. I have to make Miguel make love to me in order to break the mermaid's curse. Ugh. I'm upstairs in my room.

Tabitha: Something tells me this is going to end badly, as things often do around here.

Miguel: I'll be right up.

Kay: Look, Fox and Miguel may hate me for what I'm about to do, but it's the only way to save them from Siren.

Tabitha: I still think you're making a big mistake, dear -- big as in huge.

Julian: Fox, I'm telling you you're making a huge mistake if you think that Kay doesn't have any doubts about her future with you. You have to confront her. You have to convince her that you're the man for her, and not Miguel.

Fox: I was just being paranoid about before. You know, after you and I talked, Kay and I spent an amazing afternoon together just goofing around, laughing with Maria. Things couldn't be better between us.

Julian: Well, even so, don't let your guard down. Remember what I said when we last spoke. You have to be very shrewd, you can't show anger, and you can't make mistakes based on assumptions.

Fox: I understand, Father. But I don't need tricks or schemes to get the woman that I want.

Miguel: Kay?

Kay: It's now or never. Come in.

Miguel: Kay?

Kay: I'll be out in a second.

Miguel: Mama and Luis are right. I have to tell Kay how much I love her. I can't let her marry Fox. If I do, I'm going to regret it for the rest of my life.

Kay: Miguel. Wow, I thought you were Fox.

Miguel: Oh, uh -- well, no, it's just me. I need to talk to you.

Kay: Yeah, yeah, sure. Just let me put something on really quick. Oh, my goodness.

Sheridan: I doubt it'll ever be the same again.

Sheridan's voice: Like my relationship with Luis.

Chris: Sheridan, it's not a lost cause yet. You know, given a little bit of time, patience, and some love, I bet it's going to come back stronger than ever.

Sheridan: I don't know how.

Chris: You just got to have some faith.

Chris: You know, I was wondering -- it took an awful long time to sign a statement when all it was was a witness statement about the night I was shot.

Sheridan: Yeah, when I got there, Luis was busy with something else.

Chris: So you had to wait to sign the statement?

Sheridan: What? Oh, yes, right.

Chris: You know, I'm still surprised Luis didn't ask me to come with you. I mean, after all, I was the one that got shot. I should be signing a statement.

Sheridan: Oh, I'm sure he'll talk to you again.

Chris: You're still upset about that orchid. You know, I think it's going to be fine.

Sheridan: No, it's Luis.

Chris: Oh?

Sheridan: I wasn't going to tell you, but to be honest, Luis has this crazy idea that you lied about seeing Spike at the fair.

Chris: Oh, my God.

Sheridan: Yeah, and Luis being Luis, he's running a background check on you.

Chris: Why does that not surprise me?

Fancy: Oh, dirty word. Section eight, paragraph 11 does say that police officers aren't allowed to fraternize with cadets in training.

Luis: That's right. In fact, it's frowned upon to socialize with anyone below their rank.

Fancy: I would find out now, after I slogged through that icky dumpster to find that knife.

Luis: I thought you said you read the entire manual.

Fancy: Mine must have had that page missing.

Luis: Well, if you can't live up to the policy, you can always drop out and go back to work at Crane.

Fancy: I told you, I love police work. So stupid rule or not, I am in this for the long haul.

Luis: Duly noted.

Fancy: So lunch together is really a no-no?

Luis: We'd both be dismissed.

Fancy: All right.

Luis: Well, I got to get back to work. You might as well go on home.

Fancy: You sure there's nothing else you need me to do?

Luis: No, you're all caught up. See you tomorrow.

Fancy's voice: Not if I can see you sooner.

Ethan: The desk clerk said Mr. Allen's in 438.

Ethan: I guess he's expecting me. The door's wide open. Mr. Allen?

Jared: Soon, Tess. Soon, baby.

Ethan: Oh, my God.

Theresa: Ethan?

Theresa: Ethan, wait. Please wait, Ethan.

Tabitha: I've witnessed enough disasters in my lifetimes to steer clear of Kay's ill-conceived idea to make Fox jealous by seducing Miguel. I know it's the third part of the spell to end Siren's curse, but if Kay's not careful, she's going to lose any chance of a future with either Fox or Miguel.

Tabitha: Talking of Fox, what is he doing outside our house with your father?

{Julian: This balloon is for you. You know, red means love, and you are the most lovable young lady. You must make your mother so proud. }

Tabitha: Endora, why are you looking like that, huh?

Julian: Well, I wish you really knew without a doubt that Kay can forget about Miguel and have a future with you.

Fox: I trust Kay. I don't need to trick her with some sort of loyalty test, Father.

Kay: Oh, my God, I am so sorry. I can be so clumsy sometimes.

Miguel: Uh, don't apologize it's -- it's my fault. I shouldn't have stared. I just thought you knew it was me, not Fox.

Kay: No -- no, no, no, it's not a big deal. I had the music up loud anyway. So what did you want to talk to me about?

Miguel: Us, Kay. There's some things I need to get off my chest.

Kay: Yeah, ok. Just hold that thought. I just have to run to the laundry room and get some clean clothes, ok?

Miguel: Yeah, sure.

Miguel: Maybe it's a mistake.

Luis: Harmony PD, Lopez-Fitzgerald speaking.

Miguel: Luis, it's Miguel. I'm with Kay, and I was going to tell how I feel and I'm just wondering if I should --

Luis: When it comes to love, you can't always wait for things to work out. You got to go for what you want, and if what you want is Kay, then don't stop until you get her.

Miguel: I won't. I'm not sure, but Kay seems like she's open to the idea of us being together.

Tabitha: My, Miguel really must be Speedy Gonzales.

Kay: We haven't done anything yet. I wanted to set the mood first. Where's Fox? He has to see me with Miguel, otherwise I'm wasting my time.

Tabitha: Well, Fox is outside with Julian, but it seems he's on his way inside.

Kay: Oh, ok, good. Well, I'm going to go upstairs and get things set up.

Tabitha: Oh, dear. Kay is playing double jeopardy, and not with Alex Trebek.

Fox: Hi, Tabitha. Do you know where Kay is?

Tabitha: She's upstairs, I think.

Fox: Ok, I'm going to go get a drink before I head upstairs. Father, would you like anything?

Julian: No, no. A short visit with Tabitha and Endora will suffice, if that's all right.

Tabitha: How could I refuse?

Fox: Why are you visiting with them?

Julian: Well, we came in together. I think it would be rude if I didn't.

Julian: Well, you've certainly done a wonderful job raising our daughter. She's a beautiful young lady.

Tabitha: Indeed she is. Well, say good-bye to Mr. Crane, Endora.

Endora: No.

Tabitha: I'm sure he's got lots of capitalistic free market things to do.

Julian: Actually, I would like to spend a bit of time with Endora.

Tabitha: Why, for Pete's sake?

Julian: She's my daughter.

Tabitha: Yes, well, be that as it may, Julian, I think it's better you leave. We don't want to confuse Endora with your presence, do we?

Julian: That's nonsense. I plan on spending a lot more time with Endora.

Tabitha: Absolutely not.

Julian: Please, you sound like Theresa declaring that I can't be a father to little Ethan.

Tabitha: Yeah, well, copy that when it comes to Endora.

Julian: I will not take this from Theresa, nor will I take it from you.

Tabitha: What?

Julian: I am suing Theresa for joint custody of my son. According to my attorney, Ethan, I am going to win, and if you try to keep me from seeing Endora, I will take you to court as well.

Tabitha: You wouldn't dare.

Julian: Well, just don't push me. I don't want to have any ill feelings between us, but I will if I have to.

Tabitha: Oh, how frightfully Crane of you, Julian.

Julian: I have made countless mistakes with my children. It's something I've lived to regret, but after what Timmy taught me, I now know the error of my ways. I don't want to miss out on any more time with little Ethan or Endora.

Tabitha: Now, you listen to me.

Julian: Endora, my beautiful daughter.

Endora: Daddy.

Julian: You are a precious angel. Oh!

Tabitha's voice: Uh-oh, the boys in the basement are tuning in.

Julian: What is that noise?

Tabitha: It's my stomach turning watching you pretending to be a loving father.

Julian: Don't you listen to such negativity, sweetheart. Daddy really does love you.

Tabitha: This will not do. I will not allow Julian to become part of Endora's life, much less have joint custody of her. Of course, inevitably, Endora would reveal herself to be a witch, exposing me in the process. Rats. What am I going to do to stop him? Oh, that's a good idea. I'll turn him into a rat and then let Fluffy do the rest.

Endora: I don't want it.

Julian: You don't want it?

Tabitha: Selfish mortal, overgrown brat. Reduce him now into an ugly rat.

Tabitha: What the bloody hell?

Julian: I beg your pardon?

Chris: You know, I know Luis is jealous of you and I being together, but to run a background check on me because I told the truth -- that Spike was at the fair when Pilar was shot -- I mean, I'm at a loss for words.

Sheridan: I'm sorry. I told Luis not to bother -- that he wouldn't find anything, but as usual, he wouldn't listen.

Chris: I'm not surprised. He's absolutely convinced that Spike broke into the mansion, robbed it, and shot his mother.

Sheridan: But it's ridiculous to try and tie you to that. I mean -- are you ok?

Chris: Well, I'm obviously upset about Luis not trusting me. You know, I saved his life in Hawaii.

Sheridan: It's not you, Chris. It's Luis. He's so focused on trying to prove Spike's guilt that he's hoping against hope that you covered for him.

Chris: And why would I lie about anything that doesn't even matter to me one way or the other?

Sheridan: Well, you wouldn't and I know that. And soon enough Luis will know it, too.

Chris: Damn right he will. You know, he can dig for dirt all he likes in my background and I guarantee you he won't find a thing

Paloma: I shouldn't be doing this while in training.

Roberto: Well, let's wait until you're off duty.

Paloma: Si, and if you're a good boy, I'll search you for carrying a concealed weapon.

Roberto: Paloma, where did you get such ideas from?

Paloma: A lot's happened since you've been away.

Roberto: I know. You've changed a lot.

Paloma: I've been through a lot. The trip to Rome was both exciting and dangerous, and it made me see that there really is a battle going on between good and evil. And I want to help the good side win.

Roberto: So, instead of agreeing to marry me, you decide to train to be a policeman? I mean, policewoman, cadet, whatever.

Paloma: Don't be like that. You know I love you. It's just that I'm not ready to get married.

Roberto: So what does your family think about all this -- I mean, you becoming a cop?

Paloma: Well, Mama, Miguel, and Theresa have so much going on in their lives right now that I'm not sure what they think. And I haven't spoken to Papa yet.

Roberto: Well, I don't think Luis is too happy about it.

Paloma: Yeah, he's not. But I'm determined to see this through.

Roberto: Look, Paloma, I know you are a modern woman, but police work -- es muy peligroso.

Paloma: Roberto, you want me to be happy, right?

Roberto: Si.

Paloma: Well, this makes me happy.

Roberto: Well, if it makes you happy, then I'm happy for you.

Paloma: Gracias, mi amor. I know my decision is not easy for you to accept.

Roberto: No, it's not, but what can I say? I love you no matter what. Maybe someday you change your mind and marry me.

Paloma: Maybe. I love you, too.

Roberto: So, what else happened while I was away?

Paloma: Oh, too much to tell you right now. But basically, my family is still a mess.

Luis: All right, well, good luck telling Kay you love her. Hey, listen, I've got another call coming in. Let me know what happens, ok? All right. Harmony PD, Lopez-Fitzgerald speaking. What? All right, I'm on my way.

Spike: Oh, yeah. Oh, man, I'm just going to stick around here until I head back down to town. Now I got to get myself some new duds. But not before I get myself a drink.

Spike: Oh, yeah. Oops.

Fancy: I wish Luis were here. It's no fun swimming alone.

Fancy: Who's there?

Fancy: I said, who's there?

Fancy: Oh, my God.

Theresa: Ethan, wait! Ethan!

Jared: Theresa.

Theresa: No, he -- he just -- he took off before I could explain.

Jared: Well, he saw us. That pretty much says it all.

Theresa: But he just -- he looked hurt.

Jared: Ethan made his choice and so did you.

Theresa: But I -- I didn't want to hurt him, Jared.

Jared: Well, I'm sure you didn't. It's just the way things are.

Theresa: Right. What's done is done, and now we can move on with our lives.

Jared: So can Ethan.

Stuart: Ethan.

Ethan: Stuart, hi.

Stuart: Where you been? I was going to get the manager to search the inn for you.

Ethan: I know, I think the desk clerk gave me the wrong number.

Ethan: That's it. He told me 438.

Stuart: Well, mistakes happen.

Ethan: Yeah, they sure as hell do.

Stuart: Well, I Hope that you've given serious thought in representing me in my lawsuit against Crane Industries.

Ethan: Actually, I have.

Stuart: And?

Ethan: I've decided to take the case.

Stuart: Excellent. If anyone can prove that Crane stole my patent, you can.

Ethan: I tell you what, I'm looking forward to sticking it to Crane. I think its executives and the company itself -- they need to understand that they cannot screw around and get away with it. Now that I'm on the case, trust me, Stuart, they won't.

Miguel: I have to tell Kay how much I love her and want her before she marries Fox.

Kay: Please let this work. Let me end this mermaid's curse once and for all.

Miguel: Kay, you look incredible.

Kay: So do you.

Julian: Good-bye, sweet angel. Daddy will be back to see you very soon.

Tabitha: Time's up, Julian. My daughter and I have things to do.

Julian: I'll be in touch about spending more time with Endora.

Tabitha: Don't you dare threaten me.

Julian: For our daughter's sake, I hope it won't come to that.

Tabitha: The gall of the man.

Fox: Did my father leave?

Tabitha: Oh, yes, yes, just a minute ago. You can catch him if you hurry.

Fox: No rush. Instead I'm going to go upstairs and find Kay.

Tabitha: Oh, my devil. Fox is going to catch Kay and Miguel pitching woo. Oh, what else can go wrong?

Chris: Sheridan, don't worry. Luis can poke around in my background all he likes and I guarantee there's no justification whatsoever. Why would I give Spike a phony alibi?

Sheridan: It just upsets me to think Luis would doubt my husband, James' father.

Chris: You don't doubt me, though, do you?

Sheridan: No, of course not.

Chris: Promise you'll never doubt my love for you.

Sheridan: I promise.

Roberto: Oh, my God. All that and your mother got shot?

Paloma: See, it's been one thing after another. The important thing is that she's going to be ok. What makes me sad is that no one seems to be with the person they really love.

Roberto: Well, nobody but us. We are in love and together, just the way we should be.

Luis: Hello? Is anybody here? Hello? Oh, my God. Fancy!

On the Next Passions:

Jared: No regrets?

Theresa: No regrets.

Kay: How am I ever going to finish the spell?

Tabitha: Oh, what's happening to me?
