Gwen: Oh, my poor baby. Sweetheart, I'm so sorry. I wish you could tell your mommy what's wrong so I knew how to help you. Oh, baby.
Theresa: What's wrong with her, Gwen? Let me have her.
Gwen: What the hell are you doing here?
Theresa: My daughter is sick.
Gwen: Back off.
Theresa: No, you stop, Gwen! Now, give me my daughter.
Ethan: Oh, ladies, hey, cut it out, cut it out. Listen, is she all right? Is she feeling any better?
Gwen: No, she keeps throwing up still every time I try to give her anything to drink or to eat, and I -- she seems like she's in pain, too.
Theresa: Give me my daughter, Gwen. I can help her.
[Jane cries harder]
Theresa: You're killing her.
Tabitha: Sorry, fish girl. You're too late.
Woman: What do you mean, "fish girl"? I am a woman now.
Tabitha: Yes, well, it doesn't matter. As I said, you are too late. Fox has already seen Kay and Miguel making out on the beach. He's furious, I'm sure. Which means he will drop Kay, and naturally she will turn to the love of her life and the father of her child -- Miguel.
Woman: But I love Miguel.
Tabitha: Well, I don't know why, for Hades' sake. He's just a mortal. No fins, no gills, nothing for a fish to love.
Woman: I'm not a fish. Not since your little daughter gave me legs. She wants me to be with Miguel.
Tabitha: Well, I don't. And I'll deal with you later, my little demonette.
Tabitha: The very idea of going against my wishes and turning this mermaid into a woman.
Woman: This isn't fair. I saved Miguel's life. He should belong to me.
Tabitha: He will be with Kay. If he and Kay don't get together, he'll go off and find Charity again, and I simply can't have that. If those two hook up, then it could spell disaster for the dark side.
Tabitha: Oh -- oh, a new transmission. Oh-ho, Fox is going to confront Miguel and Kay. This should be fun, this should be fun.
Fox: Where are their clothes at? What's he doing kissing my fiancée? I'm going to kill him. I'm going to kill him.
Man: What do you see, Whitney? Are you in the Pope's private quarters yet?
Whitney: No, no, not yet. I'm really scared here.
Man: There's nothing to be afraid of, Whitney. Remember, you cannot be seen, you cannot be heard. It's not real. This is virtual reality.
Whitney: I know, I know, but it just seems so real, like I'm really in the Vatican.
Man: That is precisely the point. I want you to familiarize yourself with every aspect of the place. That way you'll know exactly where to go and what to do.
Whitney: All right, ok.
Man: What are you seeing now?
Whitney: Well, I'm in a corridor right now and I see a door.
Man: That could be the door to the Pope's private quarters. Can you open it?
Whitney: I'm not sure. I got it. I opened the door.
Chad: Ok, Luis, we're in Rome. Now what? I don't have a clue on where to start looking for Whitney.
Luis: Well, you need to go to the American Embassy, Chad. First thing tomorrow morning, they can probably check all the hotels for you.
Chad: Yeah, she's becoming a nun. Maybe she's staying at a convent.
Luis: Probably right.
Chad: You know, there's got to be like 100 hotels and convents in Rome. It could take forever to find her.
Luis: All right, just calm down, ok? Let's not get all discouraged before you've even started.
Chad: I just can't figure out why she'd leave the convent in Harmony and not tell anybody.
Luis: Well, I don't know. All Crane security was able to tell Julian is that passport control traced her here to Rome.
Chad: Yeah, but why? I mean, what would Whitney be doing in Rome?
Luis: I don't know, ok? But hopefully we'll find Whitney, and hopefully we'll find my son, too.
Chad: Are you sure Beth brought him here?
Luis: Look, all I know for sure is that someone's been withdrawing funds from an account that Alistair set up here. And since Alistair helped Beth kidnap my son and to escape, I'm betting that it's for her. So I'll just have to wait till the bank opens tomorrow, then I'm going to find my son, I'm going to bring him back to Sheridan. And if anyone tries to stop me, they're dead.
Sheridan: Oh, my God, Chris. He's not here. My father's not here.
Chris: Sheridan, don't jump to conclusions.
Sheridan: I knew it. He's not lying in a coma. He's out there somewhere. I just know he's going to kill Luis before he has a chance to find Marty.
Chris: Now, you don't know that.
Sheridan: I do know. I know my father. He killed Antonio and now he's going to kill Luis.
Theresa: Now, make her hand her to me, Ethan -- now.
Gwen: Theresa, get out of here.
Theresa: I want my daughter, damn you!
Gwen: Just get her out of here.
Ethan: Look, just cut it out. Let's just all calm down. Sick baby is our priority here. So I'm going to call the doctor. I'm going to call Dr. Eve, ok?
Ethan: Eve, hi, it's Ethan. Listen, Jane is very, very sick. She's throwing up everything that Gwen has been giving her. We just don't know what to do. I don't know. Gwen, does she have a fever?
Gwen: No, no, no.
Ethan: No, she doesn't have a fever. Yeah, Theresa's here. Ok. Ok, yeah -- no, I understand. I -- I'll call you and let you know if it works. Thanks, Eve. Eve said the danger is dehydration. We need to get some liquids into her. But no -- no milk, ok? She might be lactose intolerant.
Theresa: It's -- it's just like little Ethan.
Ethan: Eve also said that -- Gwen, Theresa would know what to do because little Ethan had the same problem, ok?
Theresa: Yeah, I know -- I would know exactly what to do.
Gwen: Ok, look, I want to do whatever I can to help my baby, but you just -- you need to go.
Theresa: I'm not going anywhere.
Gwen: Ethan, you got to get her out of here. This baby is not hers and you need to throw her out right now.
Tabitha: Fox is fit to be tied. And he'll never forgive Kay.
Tabitha: Don't look at me like that, you two. Endora, you know very well what will happen if -- if Miguel finds Charity and they reunite, don't you?
Woman: What will happen?
Tabitha: Well, Charity has powers for good that could destroy the dark side, including me and Endora, if she and Miguel do the deed. So, if we want to survive, we have to make sure that he never finds her.
Woman: But I could make him happy. I could make sure he doesn't look for her again.
Tabitha: We have no guarantee of that, Endora.
Tabitha: Oh, no, Endora, no! No.
Fox: Get the hell off her, you bastard!
Fox: What the hell?
Tabitha: Oh, my devil, Endora. What have you done?
Sheridan: Luis just left to try and find our son, and my father's already trying to kill him!
Chris: Calm down, Sheridan. Let's find a doctor or someone. There has to be a logical explanation why Alistair isn't in his bed.
Sheridan: What explanation could there be?
Chris: I don't know -- maybe they took him for tests somewhere.
Sheridan: He's supposed to be in a coma. What tests could they possibly run?
Chris: I don't know that, either, but -- I find it hard to believe that Alistair would have recovered enough to leave the hospital, and that without a doctor notifying you or anyone in his family?
Sheridan: I told you, Chris. My father is not human. He can do anything and get away with it. He probably has Luis in his gun sights right now.
Chris: Do you think Alistair followed Luis to Italy?
Sheridan: Nothing would surprise me. All I know is that he's out there, and if he has someone helping him, that person is in terrible danger, too.
Man: You're in the Pope's private quarters, Whitney. Excellent.
Whitney: Yes, I'm inside.
Man: Whitney, what is it? What's happening? Is something wrong?
Chad: You know what? I'm not going to wait for the embassy to open. I'm going to go check out the hotels tonight.
Luis: All right. And if you've got an extra picture of Whitney, I'll check out a few hotels myself.
Chad: Here you go. Thanks.
Luis: Yeah. What do you say we meet back here in an hour?
Luis: All right.
Man: Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald?
Luis: Depends who's asking.
Man: We work for Alistair Crane. We were sent here to meet you.
Miguel: What the hell?
Fox: You tell me, man.
Fox: Miguel, I'm sorry, man. I thought you were making out with Kay.
Tabitha: Oh -- oh, Endora, what have you done sending that mermaid to replace Kay? This is a disaster waiting to happen.
Tabitha: Yes, yes, yes. And Miguel can be with the mermaid! I've told you, I explained why that won't work. Mermaids are notoriously fickle.
Tabitha: Their feelings flip-flop faster than their tails. That mermaid could be madly in love with Miguel one minute, and five minutes later, she could be madly in love with another man. And -- and if Miguel is left on his own, and he's without Kay, then, you know, he'll -- he'll be in pursuit again of that insipid goody-goody, Charity.
Tabitha: Yes, yes, you saved your brother a broken heart, but you sure have made things complicated for me. By the way, what have you done with Kay?
Kay: How'd I get up here? How'd I get my clothes back on? Help! Somebody help me!
Gwen: Honey, listen, Dr. Russell told us what we need to do for Jane. We don't need Theresa.
Ethan: Gwen, she --
Gwen: Get her out of here.
Ethan: She is Jane's biological mother, ok? I mean, she's done this before. Maybe she can help her.
Gwen: Listen, I know how to take care of my child.
Theresa: She's my child, Gwen!
Gwen: I will take her to the hospital before I will let you touch her.
Ethan: Dr. Russell said it's not necessary to take her to the hospital at this point.
Gwen: I know how to take care of my child.
Theresa: Well, I guess we all know what's important to you, right, Gwen? You claim that you love Jane, but it's so obvious that you hate me much more and you're willing to let our daughter suffer because of it.
Ethan: Listen, let Theresa try to help her, ok? She's done it before and maybe she can help her, ok?
Theresa: Your personal vendetta toward me is much more important than Jane. Isn't that right, Gwen?
Sheridan: Who are you calling?
Chris: Trying to get a doctor or nurse here to tell us where Alistair is.
Sheridan: It's not going to do any good. When my father disappears, he makes sure no one knows where he's gone.
Chris: Nurse's station isn't answering. Where the hell is that call button?
Sheridan: I told you, my father is capable of anything. I just pray that wherever Luis is, he's got protection. Please, God, don't let my father find Luis.
Luis: So you work for Alistair Crane.
Man: Yeah. And I think you know why we're here.
Ethan: Gwen, just -- please give her to me. Let Theresa try to help her, ok?
Gwen: Fine, fine. If you do anything to make her worse, Theresa, I'm going to kill you.
Ethan: Ok. All right, Dr. Russell said we need some electrolyte solution.
Theresa: That's right. That's right. It's ok, dear. Shh, shh, shh.
Ethan: All right, here it is.
Theresa: Ok, great. Ok, we just need to put a little bit in a sippy cup, and do you have some applesauce by chance?
Ethan: Applesauce -- I think so.
Gwen: That's in the baby bag.
Ethan: Baby bag.
Theresa: See? We're going to take really good care of you, ok? Your mommy and daddy are right here. Jane, your mommy's right here for you. There you go.
Luis: Look, I'm not scared, and I'm not intimidated, and I don't care what your orders are. The only way you're going to stop me from searching for my son is to kill me.
Man: Big talk for an unarmed man. You don't have to worry. Your sister, Mrs. Alistair Crane, sent us to look out for you.
Luis: Theresa sent you?
Man: She knows what you're up against. She wants us to watch your back.
Luis: Oh, well, that's great. I'm glad you're here to help.
Man: We thought you would be.
Man: Is there anything we can help you with right now?
Luis: No, not really. Actually, you know what, there is -- if you could put me in touch with someone at the Banco Italiano tonight.
Man: No, that would be impossible at this hour. Mrs. Crane said to tell you the bank executives will be available for you tomorrow morning. They'll tell you anything you want to know.
Luis: All right. Well, what I want to know is where my son is so I can bring him home to Sheridan.
Sheridan: We've got to do something, Chris. We've got to warn Luis.
Chris: You're overreacting, Sheridan.
Sheridan: No, I'm not, I swear I'm not.
Nurse: Excuse me, what are you doing in here after visiting hours?
Sheridan: Wait a minute, that's my father. Where did you find him?
Nurse: Find him? The doctor ordered an MRI. We just finished the test.
Sheridan: The doctor?
Nurse: Your father's neurologist.
Chris: You see, sweetheart? Alistair's been here all the time.
Sheridan: So he's still in a coma?
Nurse: Yes, I'm afraid so.
Man: Whitney, what's wrong? What are you seeing? Are you in the Pope's private quarters yet?
Whitney: No. No, no, I couldn't do it. The -- the Swiss guards -- they were there and I couldn't get in.
Man: No -- no, you can't stop. You must go back. You must get into those quarters. The fate of your soul depends upon it.
Tabitha: This is very bad, Endora. Who knows what this fish is going to do?
Kay: Help! Help me!
Fox: That sounds like Kay, man.
Miguel: It's coming from down the beach.
Kay: Oh, Miguel, thank goodness. Fox? What are you doing here?
Fox: What are you doing up there?
Kay: Never mind that, who is she?
Fox: I have no idea. But again, what are you doing up there?
Kay: Well, just help me down, please.
Kay: Thank you. Now, tell me, what are you doing here?
Fox: You go first. What are you doing on this island?
Kay: Well, I saw Miguel leaving the house earlier and he was acting really strange, so I followed him. And I -- I jumped on the boat when he was leaving the dock, and then there was this really bad fog, and somehow we -- we wound up here. But then we got separated, and I couldn't find him. So I climbed up on this ledge here, and -- and I got stuck.
Fox: I guess I owe you an apology, too.
Kay: For what?
Fox: I was sure I saw you and Miguel kissing. I even punched Miguel in the mouth, but apologized, because he obviously was kissing her, not you.
Kay: Wait -- wait, wait, wait. You saw Miguel kissing her?
Fox: Yeah. And who are you, anyway?
Miguel: Yeah, what's your name?
Tabitha: This should be good, since our fish girl isn't exactly Mensa material.
Kay: You do have a name, right?
Woman: A name? Yes, sure, of course.
Fox: Well, what is it?
Tabitha: Come on, dear. Flap your flippers and think of a flipping name. You're going to get involved in this situation, you're going to have to think on your feet -- now that you have feet. Yeah, your miss mermaid is up to her fins in it this time, thanks to you, Endora.
Kay: What are you hiding? Why won't you tell us your name?
Woman: Siren. My name is Siren.
Tabitha: Not bad for someone with the I.Q. of a tuna.
Kay: Is that your real name -- Siren?
Siren: Yes. I'm here because I'm the one who saved Miguel's life.
Miguel: Oh, my God, it is you. How did I not recognize you? You -- you're the blonde that saved my life when I was drowning.
Fox: I'll be damned. We all thought Miguel was imagining you, but you are obviously the blonde that he was talking about.
Siren: Yes, I am.
Kay: Why did your parents name you siren?
Siren: I don't know. Why did your parents name you Fox? You're not really a Fox, are you?
Fox: Siren, I was wondering, why didn't you stick around? After you rescued Miguel, I mean.
Miguel: Yeah, why did you -- why did you leave me? I mean, did you have anything to hide?
Siren: Yes, I did. But not anymore. I'm going to tell you everything.
Tabitha: Oh, dear, now she's done it. What can that crazy mermaid be thinking? What am I thinking, thinking she can think?
Chris: Sweetheart, the nurse said we could only stay a moment. We should go.
Sheridan: Wait. I have to be sure.
Chris: Be sure of what?
Sheridan: That he's not faking.
Chris: Faking? This is a reputable institution, Sheridan. I'm sure they would know if Alistair were faking.
Sheridan: Yeah, well, I don't know that.
Chris: Look at him. He's not going to move. He's in a coma, and the nurse said that the MRI showed no change. Come on. Let's go and have a nice dinner and try to forget all about this.
Sheridan: No, I'm not hungry. I just want to get back to Harmony and check on James.
Chris: All right. You're not still frightened, are you? Alistair's not going to hurt Luis or anyone else. He's still here, he's still helpless. He's not going to hurt you or James or me -- or Luis or Marty, all right?
Sheridan: All right.
Luis: Chad. Hey, any luck?
Chad: No, man, I struck out at every hotel I tried.
Luis: Oh, man. Hey, don't get discouraged, ok? The embassy might be able to help you in the morning. Beautiful city, isn't it?
Chad: You know, Whitney and I always used to talk about coming here for our honeymoon -- till we found out we were half-brother and sister.
Luis: Yeah, that can change things. Sheridan and I used to always talk about coming to Rome as well. She always talked about how incredible it was. Come on, man. Hey, would you lighten up? You're going to find someone new -- someone new to love, and we'll all come back -- we'll all come back here together. How's that?
Chad: Look, I can -- I can believe it'll happen for you and Sheridan. Not me. Whitney is the only woman I'll ever love. I can't be with her, man, ever. Now I know that makes me a monster in the eyes of the world, but I can't deny what's in my heart.
Man: What's wrong now, Whitney? What is it?
Whitney: It's nothing -- nothing. I'm just -- just trying to concentrate.
Man: Yes, yes, you must concentrate on the task at hand.
Man: Oh, Whitney, will you ever get your brother out of your heart? Or must I kill you first?
Tabitha: I -- we better come up with a plan, Endora. Because if that mermaid tells them that she was a fish and you turned her into a woman, we're going to have some "splainin" to do.
Miguel: So what were you hiding, Siren?
Siren: Well, it's a little embarrassing, but I was naked when I saved you.
Siren: I like to swim in the nude, and when I heard people coming, I ran off to find my suit. By the time I got back, you were gone. That's why I was so happy when I saw you tonight.
Fox: Yes, you two looked quite happy to see each other the way you were kissing with his pants off.
Siren: Miguel's a wonderful kisser.
Kay's voice: But he was kissing me. Wasn't he?
Miguel's voice: I was kissing Kay. Wasn't I?
Fox: I'm sorry, Kay. I -- I could've sworn I saw you kissing Miguel. I had no idea he was kissing Siren.
Siren: Oh, he was kissing me, all right. I was kissing him just like this.
Theresa: See, she stopped crying, so let's just hope the treatment worked.
Ethan: At least she doesn't seem to be in pain or anything.
Theresa: If she can keep the food and the medicine down for a while, then I think we'll be good.
Gwen: Oh, my poor baby. Mommy is so glad that you're feeling so much better.
Ethan: Theresa, thank you. Really, I mean, we're so grateful that you knew exactly what to do.
Whitney: I've got the door open, but what about the Swiss guards?
Man: You're doing fine. Go in.
Whitney: I thought you said I was supposed to be invisible.
Man: You are. It is only virtual reality.
Whitney: No, no, I got to get away.
Whitney: What's that red light for?
Man: It's not important. What's important is that you keep trying to get into the Pope's quarters. And remember, a door is not the only way into a room.
Whitney: I don't know what that means.
Man: Just do as you're told. The fate of your soul and the future of the church depends on your success.
Whitney: I just wish I could understand all of this, that's all.
Man: You will understand everything soon. Now I have to leave you, but I want you to keep trying, keep working. Everything depends upon you.
Man: How could this happen? Why are they here?
Sheridan: James, we're home.
Chris: Anybody home?
Chris: Hey there, big guy. How are you doing?
Sheridan: Hi, sweetheart, I'm so glad to see you.
Woman: We were just putting away his train set. He's had his bath and dinner.
Chris: I told you everything would be all right.
Sheridan: Thank goodness. I'm so happy at least this part of our lives is still normal, still ok.
Woman: I was just about to tuck him in, but he heard you two coming.
Sheridan: Oh, it's ok. I'm so glad he's awake. You can take the rest of the night off, Lori.
Lori: Thank you, Mrs. Boothe. Good night.
Chris: Good night.
Sheridan: Good night.
James: Night night.
[Chris and Sheridan laugh]
Sheridan: I don't know what I would do without this little guy in my life.
Chris: Well, James and I feel the same way about you. But it's late, so say, "night night." Say "night night."
James: Night night.
Sheridan: Good night, my little love.
Chris: I'm going to tuck him in, then we'll try and relax, ok?
Sheridan: All right.
Luis: Sheridan, it's Luis.
Sheridan: Luis, are you all right?
Luis: Yeah, I'm fine, but what about you? I got your message to call. Are you ok?
Sheridan: I am now. We went to the nursing home to see my father. He wasn't there.
Luis: He wasn't -- what do you mean? He's out of the coma?
Sheridan: No, that's what I thought. I was so afraid. He was just off having an MRI.
Luis: Oh, so you saw him? He is still there?
Sheridan: Yes. I was so scared that he'd come after you. Thank heavens he's not a threat for now.
Luis: Well, don't worry about me, Sheridan. I'm fine.
Sheridan: Please, God, keep it that way. Have you had any time to find out anything about Beth and Marty?
Luis: No, not yet. But I'm going to the bank first thing in the morning. I'll keep you posted on what I find out.
Sheridan: Thank you, Luis. Please be careful.
Luis: Sheridan, I have something else to say. I love you with all of my heart and I know that you love me, and -- look, as soon as I find Marty and bring him back to you, we will be together, ok? We'll find a way. Our love is too strong for anything to come between us. Sheridan? Sheridan, did you hear what I just said?
Chris: I'm sorry, Luis, but that's not going to happen. Sheridan's my wife, and she's not leaving me ever.
Luis: Damn it.
Chad: Hey -- hey, what'd she say?
Luis: It's not what she said, it's what her soon-to-be ex-husband just said. But you know what? He's wrong. Sheridan and I are going to be together, and nothing is going to stop it from happening.
Tabitha: Well, I must say, for someone with limited resources, that mermaid came up with a fairly good excuse.
Fox: You know, it must be true what they say about saving a life.
Siren: What do they say?
Fox: Well, when you save someone, he becomes your responsibility. I mean, now that you saved Miguel, you got to look after him, make sure he's safe for the rest of his life.
Siren: Really? I can do that -- with pleasure.
Fox: Yeah, you two sure connected in a hurry.
Siren: We sure did.
Miguel: Kay, this is totally weird, ok? I could have sworn I was kissing you earlier, not Siren.
Kay: I thought so, too.
Miguel: Like I said, this is totally weird.
Kay: Well, let's just say it never happened, ok? I mean, we couldn't have been kissing, because if we were, it would cause a lot of problems for me, you know?
Miguel: Between you and Fox, you mean?
Kay: Yeah. So you understand?
Miguel: Yeah, I understand.
Fox: Is everything ok, babe?
Kay: Everything is wonderful.
Siren: Yes, wonderful.
Gwen: Do you think she's going to be ok now?
Ethan: Yeah, I do. I think we should keep an eye on her, but at least she's sleeping right now.
Gwen: Thank God.
Ethan: Theresa, hey. Thank you again. I mean, you took such good care of her. You're a great mother, you are.
Theresa: Thanks. Thanks.
Whitney's voice: God said a door wasn't the only way to get in. Wait a minute, there's a window.
Whitney's voice: This must be it. This must be the way into the Pope's private quarters.
Chris: Are you feeling all right now?
Sheridan: Yeah, I feel better.
Chris: You know, you mustn't worry. Your father is still in a coma. We have nothing to fear from him.
Sheridan: At least I know that much.
Chris: Yeah. Now, let me go get you a cup of tea.
Sheridan: Thank you.
Sheridan: Oh, Luis, maybe this time you will find Marty. With my father out of the way, maybe you really will find our son. Just be careful, my darling.
Chad: This is crazy, man. We're sitting here doing nothing.
Luis: Chad, there's nothing that we can do, ok? At least not until the morning.
Chad: Yeah, well -- you know, we should get to our hotel, lay low. We don't want Alistair's goons on our trail.
Luis: Alistair's goons have already made an appearance. Theresa sent them to look out for me, and you'll be protected, too.
Chad: Yeah, I'd like to believe that, but what if Alistair sends some more thugs out to get us?
Luis: Hey, would you relax, ok? Alistair's in a coma -- I mean, what can the man possibly do to hurt us?
Luis: Wait a minute. That monk --
Chad: What about him?
Luis: I don't know, there's something familiar about him. Hey, you! Stop!
On the Next Passions:
Tabitha: If Siren doesn't pass muster, we'll be outed as witches.
Chad: Whitney's close and she's in trouble.
