Ned: How do you live like this?
Fancy: Like what? At least I pay for my room.
Ned: Ugh. Do you have any idea the type of danger you've put us in by taking that money?
Fancy: But I like money. It's my absolute favorite color in the world. It goes with anything.
Ned: Fancy, all right, no jokes. Ok, that guy was for real. He's a mobster, a criminal, and he probably has friends. Hey, remember that very dead body we saw in his room?
Fancy: I know, but it's not that much money. He won't miss it.
Ned: He won't miss it? He killed a guy for it! What do you think he's going to do to us?
Fancy: Do you really think he'll try to find us?
Ned: What planet do you live on? Ok, let me spell it out for you, ok? That mobster saw us. He knows we saw him. He knows we saw a dead body in his room. By now he and, well, whoever he works for have probably figured out that the money he came back for is gone. Now, who do you think he'll suspect of taking it?
Ned: Bingo. Bingo. And what do you think he'll do to us?
Fancy: The same thing they did to that dead guy?
Ned: Oh, the lady gets first prize.
Fancy: So what can we do?
Ned: We can get out of Vegas pronto or we're as good as dead.
Man: Where are those two punks? They got to be here somewhere. And when I find them --
Whitney: Ain't nothin' anyone can say. I've only got myself to blame. I'm on a road to nowhere, wish I could turn around can't stop these tears. I'm blinded, I'm so lost I can't be found. I'm on a road
Carla: Hey, stranger. It's been a while since you went to get me a drink.
Fox: Oh, right. Uh, yeah, I'm sorry about that. I kind of -- kind of got a little sidetracked.
Carla: Let me guess. Chad?
Fox: No. Yeah, it's -- it's Chad. It's Chad and Whitney, it's my whole damn family, you know. I'm just sick of all of them. Chad's got my son and I've got work to do. It's time to speed things up a bit.
Carla: You already tried to sabotage his project.
Fox: Yeah. Yeah, but he was wise to me. You know, I had a little conversation with my mom and I realized something. See, it's not enough for me just to make Chad look bad. I have to completely destroy him.
Theresa: I -- I can't believe what I'm hearing.
Ethan: Theresa. You know it's true. You know I'm not with the woman that I truly love. You know I'm not with the woman that's in my heart. I should be with you. I should be with you and Jane and little Ethan.
Theresa: It's not too late. We can have it all. We can be a family. We love each other, and that's what matters.
Beth: I'm sorry, I'm going to have to call you right back. But I do want that room, so please hold it for me, ok?
Mrs. Wallace: No. You're talking about sending me away again? No. No, no, no, no, no, Bethie, you can just forget it because I am not going to any nursing home! No, I am not, not when you're out looking for mansions that are going to have plenty of room for me.
Beth: Get a grip, mother. Sheridan's long gone, and at long last Luis and I are going to start our lives together. And when my daddy, Alistair, finds out that I managed to get rid of his other daughter and keep her away from Luis, he's going to want to reward me. I'm talking millions and millions, so the first thing I'm going to do is go out and get an estate for me and Luis and Marty. And even if the house is half the size of Harmony, there's still not going to be room for you.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh! Sharper than a serpent's tooth, missy!
Beth: I want a loving, happy life with Luis and my son. I mean, god knows I've worked hard enough for it, and I do not need some nasty, loud, disgusting hag messing things up for me. All right? You're going to go to the nursing home and that's final.
Mrs. Wallace: No.
Tabitha: Oh, why did I push Sheridan so hard to go and see Dottie? I wanted her to find the truth out about Marty, but much later, so I would have plenty of time to make more trouble between Beth and Alistair.
Sheridan: Dottie, please, just tell me.
Dottie: If you'll only let me explain about the genetic strands that I've discovered.
Sheridan: Ok, Dottie, you know I love you. But I really can't deal with all of your scientific mumbo jumbo right now, so if you would just tell me the one thing I need to know -- is Marty my son? Oh, my god.
Theresa: You see? Now, finally, we can be together, finally. I mean, you've always belonged with me and little Ethan and Jane. We're already a family, Ethan, and I've got plans, I've got lots of plans. You can move into Mama's house tonight, and in a little bit we can --
Ethan: Shh, shh, Theresa --
Theresa: We can look for a place of our own.
Ethan: No, no, no, no.
Theresa: "No, no," what?
Ethan: No, no. We can't. I am married to Gwen. I -- I know. I can't. I made vows to her in church, Theresa. I've made a commitment to her. You know me, and I can't -- I'm not the kind of man that can just break his word. Gwen doesn't deserve that.
Theresa: What about me, Ethan? What about our child, Ethan? You have chosen Gwen over our daughter and her future happiness.
Ethan: No. I've not done that. And don't you use our daughter as a bargaining chip.
Theresa: Do you think that I want to?
Ethan: No, I think you want what I want. For us to be together. But it can't be.
Theresa: Why? Why not?
Ethan: It --
Theresa: Wait. You just admitted that's what you want.
Ethan: Don't make this harder. Don't make this harder than it is. Theresa, I need your promise. I need your promise that we're going to work together to make Jane's upbringing as peaceful as we can make it. I want her to know that her mommy and daddy care about each other even though they don't live with each other. I want her to know that, that she was created out of -- out of love, Theresa.
Theresa: No. No, Ethan, you didn't even know it was me you were with that night when we created Jane because I disguised myself as Gwen.
Ethan: How stupid do you think I am? Of course I knew it was you that night.
Beth: Let's get something straight, sunshine. You are never going to live in my pretty new mansion with me or Luis or your grandson, Marty.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh, no, that sweet little boy isn't my grandson.
Beth: See? That's what I'm talking about. You're not a team player, all right? So you're going to go off to that nursing home, and if you make a stink about it -- let me rephrase that. If you make trouble, you're not going to go to that nice nursing home I just found for you. You're going to go to the state home for the indigent-aged with the mice and the cockroaches and the rats.
Mrs. Wallace: Aah! Get away from me! Don't you touch me!
[Mrs. Wallace screams]
Mrs. Wallace: You -- you can't do that, Bethie.
Beth: Watch me.
Mrs. Wallace: No. No. You can't do it, Bethie, see, because you are forgetting one thing here. See, one word from crazy old Edna here about what you have done to Sheridan and her lovely little child that you stole, and you -- you are going to be making license plates in the state penitentiary for life. So don't cross with me, missy. Don't you dare cross me because you -- you're the one who's going to be -- you are the one who is definitely going to be done for now, so -- so why don't you get me some of those nice grapes in there and peel them while you're at it, huh?
Sheridan: Luis, I -- oh, my god.
Luis: Sheridan, hey, don't worry, ok? It's going to be all right, I swear. You know, I had a feeling that this was going to happen -- you'd get your hopes up for no reason.
Sheridan: Just talk to Dottie, ok?
Sheridan: Just talk to her.
Luis: Sure. Dottie?
Dottie: Hey, Luis. Is Sheridan ok?
Luis: Ok? No, she's really not ok. You know, this is bringing it all up again and this is really hard for her to take, the disappointment.
Dottie: Disappointment? Wait, I don't understand. I mean, I thought she'd be thrilled. This is everything she wanted. I'm just so sorry I didn't run the full gamut of tests the first time around.
Luis: What are you talking about?
Dottie: Luis, I just told Sheridan that the D.N.A. test proves Marty is her son. Sheridan is the mother, no doubt about it.
Sheridan: It's true. It's all true. Marty's my child. I was right. He's my little boy.
Ned: We just need to lay low for a while. You know, I'll go someplace -- someplace quiet, someplace relaxing, someplace they'll never think to find me. Home. I'll go home. Ah, it's such a dinky place anyways. Huh. I could really fall off the radar there.
Fancy: Where's home?
Ned: I -- oh, no, no, no, no, no. Ok, you can't know where I'm going and I can't know where you're going either, ok? It's safer that way.
Fancy: If you say so.
Ned: Excuse me, miss? Get up off your fashionable butt and start packing so you don't get killed! Look, I'll make sure you're safely on the way to the airport, but after that you're on your own. We can't ever see each other again.
Whitney: Wish I could undo all the pain hurting you. Wish I could change what you're going through, help you remember. Mmm, mmm once you were fine oh, oh
Valerie: She's singing a love song to you.
Chad: I know.
Valerie: Well, it must be the booze. She's got to be over you by now.
Chad: No. No, she still loves me. I know it.
Whitney: Make you see I still care. Maybe you'd find real peace of mind once I could hold you. Mmm, mmm once you were mine. Oh, oh wish I could turn, turn back time. You were the reason I could make it through the day, you were
Carla: It hurts, doesn't it?
Whitney: The light that could show me the way
Carla: Come off it, Fox. You still love her, don't you?
Whitney: I held you up
Fox: I --
Whitney: When you stumbled and fell and I know you could tell
Fox: No. I mean, she gave our son away without me knowing about it. How could I possibly love someone who would do something so terrible to me?
Carla: That doesn't answer my question.
Whitney: Wish I could turn back time ooh, ooh wish I could undo
Carla: I've never seen a man so in love.
Theresa: You're lying. You didn't know it was me that night we made love, ok? It was dark, I was wearing a blond wig, I had Gwen's perfume on, and you were drunk.
Ethan: Yes. Yes and yes and yes to all of that. So what? Even through all that champagne, Theresa, I knew in my heart it was you. I knew. Do you honestly believe that I can't tell the difference between you and Gwen, even with a blond wig? You, your face, your hair, your hands, the way you feel, the way you make me feel when you touch me, Theresa? No way. I know we only made love one other time on that beach. I know you haven't forgotten, have you?
Ethan: When you slipped into that bed with me that night and you touched me, I felt the same way that I felt that night on that beach. I tried to convince myself it was a dream. It wasn't a dream. You didn't fool me that night, Theresa. I -- I tried to fool myself. And I would have given anything to steal one more night -- just one more night with you.
Ned: I was able to get my stuff without being spotted.
Fancy: Oh, goody. You can help me close this.
Ned: What is all this?
Fancy: What? You said to pack.
Ned: You can't bring all that. Ok? We're trying to be inconspicuous, remember? You can only bring one suitcase.
Fancy: One? Well, which one? I can't leave my clothes.
Ned: Look, you only need one outfit when you're dead, ok? And if you mess this up for me, I swear I'll make sure you're buried wearing a trash bag.
Fancy: Ooh, I hate this. Why did I let you get me mixed up in your life of crime?
Ned: Oh, whoa, Fancy. You're the one who stole the money, remember?
Fancy: Well, it would've been a shame to let it go to waste.
Ned: We have to get rid of it.
Fancy: If you say so. After I buy that necklace.
Ned: Oh, will you stop it with that stupid necklace! Fancy, you can't spend that money.
Fancy: And why not?
Ned: This is Vegas, Fancy. Ok, look, the casinos -- they mark the money in case someone tries to steal it, so when you try to spend it, you'll get arrested on the spot.
Fancy: Oh, you're no fun at all. So what are we going to do with it?
Ned: We'll figure that out later. Right now we just have to get out of this town. All right? You know what? Meet me down the block at Fremont Street. I'll make sure you get a cab to the airport.
Fancy: A cab? Oh, tacky. I'll call a limo. There will be plenty of room for my luggage and we can really spread out.
Ned: Lord, help me put down this heavy load. Ok, look, you're going to take one taxi and I'm going to take the other. Ok? You want to try to blend in. Can you do that?
Fancy: I can get a taxi by myself.
Ned: Look, hey, I just want to make sure you're ok, ok?
Fancy: Oh. So you care if I'm ok?
Ned: Are you listening? Look, I'm going to get in my taxi and you're going to get in yours and we're going to go on our separate ways. Ok? Oh, and I don't want to know what airline you're on or where you're going, and you can't know where I'm going either.
Ned: Oh, and remember, we don't want to attract any attention, ok? Just try to blend in. Blend. Can you do that?
Fancy: Yeah, yeah -- blend. I'll see you downstairs.
Ned: Be careful, all right? These guys are for real.
Theresa: Yeah, I thought you were cruel before, but this is too much. You tell me you love me, you remind me how deeply we're connected, and you still stay with Gwen. We belong together. You know it, I know it, and god knows it.
Ethan: It just can't be. And I am sorry.
Whitney: Honey, what's wrong?
Theresa: Well, I thought that tonight couldn't get any worse, but I was wrong. Really wrong.
Ethan: Theresa, please.
Theresa: No, you know what?
Ethan: Let me --
Theresa: You've said enough. I'm out of here.
Ethan: Theresa --
Whitney: Ethan, just let her go. Haven't you hurt her enough already?
Ethan: I didn't want to hurt her.
Whitney: Well, if you didn't want to hurt her, then why did you sue to take her child away from her? I mean, don't you know what that feels like to have your own child taken away from you? You chose Gwen over Theresa, and then you, Gwen, and Gwen's mother sued to take little Jane away from her, and now she has nothing. Now, I know Theresa isn't innocent in this whole thing, but she's going through hell.
Ethan: She blames me.
Whitney: Damn right she blames you. She does not understand how you could do something like that to her. As a matter of fact, neither do I.
Ethan: Whitney, I tried to explain it to her. I told her I still loved her.
Whitney: Oh, great. I'm sure that was very helpful. Oh, so when are the wedding bells for you and Theresa, huh?
Ethan: Oh, Whitney, I'm married to Gwen. A commitment to her I can't break, you know?
Whitney: Then why did you tell Theresa that you love her, Ethan?
Ethan: I don't know. I don't know. I thought it might be better to be honest with her, you know?
Whitney: If I hear one more person talk about honesty and truth -- tell me something, Ethan. How is it better to know that the person you love loves you back when you can't be together? Because to me it sounds like hell. It's pure hell.
Ethan: I know. No one knows that more than I do.
Whitney: No. Ethan, I know. I love Chad. I love him with all my heart and I know that he still loves me. But we can't be together anymore because he's my half brother. But for some reason, that doesn't change the way I feel about him. It just makes it all that much harder to live without him.
Beth: So you would really tell Luis and the cops that I kidnapped Sheridan and took Marty?
Mrs. Wallace: Well, try putting me in a nursing home and find out.
Beth: So any time you want something or you want to stop me from doing something, you're going to threaten to tell Luis?
Mrs. Wallace: Yes, sirree, Bethie.
Beth: All right. I guess I have no choice.
Mrs. Wallace: See? I knew you'd see it my way.
Beth: I have no choice but to kill you.
[Mrs. Wallace screams]
Luis: This is -- it's incredible.
Sheridan: Did you hear her, Luis? Marty is our baby. He is my child. You finally have the proof that you've needed.
Luis: Dottie, listen to me. I don't want Sheridan to be hurt again. Are you absolutely certain about this?
Luis: Then why didn't the first D.N.A. test prove that Sheridan was Marty's mother?
Dottie: Luis, I'm so sorry. That's where I fell down. I only ran Beth's sample and compared it to Marty's. And when it matched, I just assumed she was Marty's mother.
Luis: Wait a minute. How can Beth and Sheridan both be a match to Marty?
Tabitha: Oh, no. We don't want that part of the story coming out yet. Endora? Endora? Some assistance, please.
Luis: Dottie? Dottie? I can't hear you. There's a lot of static on the line. I lost her.
Sheridan: What does it matter? She finally told us what we need to know. You finally have proof, Luis. Marty is my son. He's our little boy.
Fancy: Yoo-hoo, Ned! Hey, here I am! I made it!
Ned: Will you take that to the taxi stand and wait for us? We'll be with you in a minute.
Fancy: I'll just send for the rest.
Ned: There's more?
Fancy: Oh, just three trunks back at the hotel.
Ned: What part of "low-key and inconspicuous" didn't you understand, huh? What happened to "blend"?
Fancy: Neddy, I like to travel in style. I don't blend. Do I, Preston?
Ned: If we're not careful, you're going to be traveling in a body bag, ok? Now, where's the money?
Fancy: Here. Hey, what are you doing?
Ned: I figured out what to do with it.
Fancy: You want to give it away?
Ned: It's dirty money. Let's give it to the orphans.
Fancy: All of it?
Ned: Yes, all of it.
Fancy: No, I don't want to do that. I think it's --
Ned: Hi. She'd like to make a donation to your orphanage.
Fancy: Maybe a very small one.
Ned: Oh, not so small.
Nun: Bless you. The children need very little.
Fancy: Not all of it. We don't want to spoil the little tykes.
Ned: If we keep it, we'll be the ones who get spoiled. Oh -- here. There you go.
Nun: Oh, thank you. There's more under the little doggie.
Second nun: Oh, bless you, my children. There's a special place in heaven just for you.
Ned: Let's hope we don't see it anytime soon, huh?
Nun: Cute dog.
Fancy: Oh, thanks.
Man: I missed them at the hotel, but the doorman said he saw her leave. Keep an eye on the taxis. Maybe they're trying to leave town with the money.
Second man: They won't get far. We have to get that money back and make sure they don't talk -- ever again.
Ethan: Look, I'm going to get back to Gwen and Jane. You sounded great tonight. Chad.
Chad: I heard what you said. But I knew that already. I heard you sing tonight. You were singing to me. You still feel the same way about me that I feel about you.
Whitney: I just wasn't thinking, that's all.
Chad: Whitney, don't deny it. The love we had was so strong, so -- so perfect. You know, love like that doesn't come along but once in a lifetime. And once you have it, nothing else even comes close.
Whitney: Um, no.
Chad: Now, I know -- I know we're brother and sister, but the love we had just can't disappear. Whitney, I don't know about you, but it feels like my love is just getting stronger. Especially when I look into Miles' eyes, knowing that he's a part of you.
Whitney: God, Chad, I have so much that I need to tell you.
Chad: Hey, you don't have to say another word. Just knowing -- just knowing that you still love me is enough.
Fox: What the hell? Oh, come on, you two are brother and sister, for god's sake!
Sheridan: Luis, thank god I did not get on that plane. Marty is our son, and we now have proof of it.
Luis: It's unbelievable.
Sheridan: Well, believe it. Don't you see? Our baby never died. Beth kidnapped him. He was alive, and he was living with her all this time. I mean, it's no wonder I felt such a connection to him. And now this D.N.A. test is proof of it. Beth kidnapped me. She held me hostage in her basement. She waited until I gave birth to Marty, and she tried to pass him off as her own.
Luis: But Beth was pregnant. And what about Charlie?
Sheridan: I don't know. I can't figure all that out. All I know is that Marty is our son, and we have to go and get him right now. Oh, my god. Beth is crazy. We've got to go get our little boy away from her as soon as possible.
Tabitha: No, no, I can't have Sheridan going to Beth's now to get that baby. Oh, this whole story may have a happy ending. I know. The possibility is nauseating. Drastic measures are called for here. I am going to have to come up with something else to tear Luis and Sheridan apart.
Man: I don't see them.
Second man: Keep looking. We got to get that money back.
Nun: Would you gentlemen care to make a donation?
Ned: Give it up. The money's gone.
Fancy: No, it's mine.
Nun: I think it's time I take today's donations to monsignor, don't you, sister?
Second nun: So early? If you say so. Bless you, my child.
Ned: What are you so worried about? Your family's so rich, there's plenty more where that came from.
Fancy: You don't understand anything. That money was mine. I earned it.
Ned: You're insane. Look, this is the part where we split up, ok? I'm going to go get my taxi and you get yours.
Fancy: I still think we can --
Ned: No. Oh -- and I see you at the airport, I don't want to know where you or your plane are going.
Fancy: Fine. But still, I think --
Ned: No, there's no buts, all right? This is deadly serious. We can't be seen together again, ok? We have to stay as far apart from each other as possible.
Fancy: Well, Ned, this is the end. It's been fun.
Ned: Wait, fun?
Ned: Look, just be careful, ok? I mean, don't do anything stupid. With any luck, those guys won't be able to find either of us and we'll be ok. Oh, and after I leave, wait a minute or two and then get the very next cab.
Fancy: Ok, Neddy.
Ned: And don't call me that.
Ned: You know, I've never met anyone like you before. I think you're something else.
Fancy: I think he's something else, too, isn't he, Preston? Come on. It's time to go bye-bye.
Theresa: Why, god? Why would you make two people love each other that can't be together? I love Ethan with all of my heart. He's the only man I'm ever going to love. It's just not fair.
Man: We lost them. I don't know how, but they gave us the slip.
Second man: We'll keep looking, then. We got to get that money back. The boss will be upset if we don't, and you know what that means.
First man: Don't worry, I got a good look at them. We'll track them down one way or another.
Ned: I hope Fancy made it to her plane without being spotted. Our only hope is to go totally different places. Oh, darn it.
Fancy: Ooh, you'd hate to be back here in this cattle car, Preston. It's ok. Don't worry. Mommy's taking you to first class.
Fox: Are you in on this, too? Is that why you gave our son away, Whitney? Because you're still in love with this fool? If that's the case, do it! Go play house with your half brother! Just give me my son back. Because I don't want him anywhere near your little incest party.
Whitney: Well, he already is.
Fox: What? What the hell are you hiding, Whitney?
Theresa: You know, every time I try to run away from you, there you are.
Ethan: I'm sorry. I was -- I was on my way home.
Theresa: Wait, please. This is a sign, Ethan. This is a sign. Some higher power sent you here to meet me.
Ethan: Theresa, no. No.
Theresa: Yes, it's fate, Ethan. It keeps pushing us together because we're supposed to be together, and we can't deny that.
Ethan: Theresa, we have to deny it because I am married to Gwen, and I'm sticking with her.
Theresa: But I can't fight my feelings. Can you?
Beth: Run all you want, old woman. It won't help. I have changed my last diaper.
Mrs. Wallace: Angels! Angels in heaven, please save me from this devil from hell!
[Mrs. Wallace screams]
Beth: Any last words?
Mrs. Wallace: Please, mercy. Mercy, Bethie, please. Mercy on your frail old mom, please.
Beth: Ok, not a problem.
Mrs. Wallace: Ow! Oh, no! Let me go!
Beth: I consider this a mercy killing.
Mrs. Wallace: No! No, no!
Sheridan: All right, well, I've got to get to Beth's right now. I mean, she might try and hurt my little boy.
Luis: All right, hold on. You are not going over there alone, ok? Now, I'm sorry I was so wrong about Beth, about everything. But you really are Marty's mother.
Sheridan: Yes. And that thief Beth has stolen a year and a half of my little boy's life from me, and I want him back now. Come on.
Tabitha: Plague, rats, and boils. I need to come up with a whole other way to keep those two from getting to Beth's and reuniting with Marty.
Tabitha: Yes, yes, you're right. I know. I need something bigger than that, something that will keep them apart forever. But what? Oh. Oh. Oh, Endora, I've just had the most deliciously evil idea. Surely, Sheridan will never forgive Luis for this. Oh, finally -- finally, their love will be destroyed.
On the Next Passions:
Tabitha: We have to keep Sheridan and Luis from getting to Beth and Marty's.
Sheridan: Where did this fog come from? It was such a clear evening.
Luis: I can't see a thing in front of us. I got to slow down.
Gwen: Ethan despises Theresa. He never even wants to see her again.
