Whitney: Theresa, honey, are you ok?

Theresa: No, no, I'm not ok. My baby is gone. That crazy Gwen has her. First she puts me in a wheelchair, and then she steals my baby!

Luis: All right, listen, Theresa, we're going to do everything that we can to get your baby back, ok, but can you just calm down? Can you do that for me?

Theresa: Yes, yes.

Luis: Ok, the last I heard, Gwen was in jail. What happened?

Theresa: Ok, she was in jail, and then she slit her wrists, she tried to kill herself, so they brought her to the hospital.

Eve: She did a pretty good job on herself, too.

Sheridan: Poor Gwen. What's happened to you?

Theresa: And then when she got to the hospital, Luis, she got away from the police guard somehow, and then she found me, she came after me, she chased me around the hospital. She tried to stab me with a pair of scissors!

Luis: Ok --

Theresa: She almost tried to kill me, again!

Luis: Ok, what happened next?

Theresa: Well, what happened is she stole my baby, Luis! She took my child and she ran away with her and I don't know where she is, and you have to -- you have to find her, Luis, because, listen to me, she's sick and she has a high fever, and that's why I brought her to the hospital in the first place!

Pilar: Oh, mija, shh. Sweetheart.

Sheridan: Oh, Gwen, what have you done?

Ethan: You know that Gwen wouldn't have done this if she were in her right mind.

Sam: Look, I sympathize, Ethan, ok, but kidnapping is a felony, and her mental state makes me even more concerned for the well-being of Theresa’s baby. God help Gwen if something happens to that child.

Rebecca: But she's had a complete mental breakdown.

Sam: Look, I understand, but it'll be up to her attorney to establish her mental condition to the judge.

[Phone rings]

Sam: Excuse me, I got to take this.

Rebecca: This is all Theresa’s doing.

Ethan: Wait, wait a minute. How can you say that? Theresa is the baby's mother here. They are the victims in this case, Rebecca.

Rebecca: Theresa's what? She's what? I mean, no matter what happens now, Gwen is never going to recover from this.

Ethan: Don't say that.

Rebecca: And I'll tell you, as a mother myself-- god, Ethan, I am so worried about my daughter. And I'm horrified by what she's done. And part of me -- part of me hopes they never find her. Oh, god. Part of me hopes that she and this little baby girl just disappear into the sunset.

Gwen: Ok.

Gwen: Hmm. We only have one more bottle of your formula left. Ok, that's not good. I tell you what, sweetheart, after you finish this nice snack, why don't we take a trip to the store and get you lots more formula and baby food? Then we're going to have to come straight back here to the Crane cabin, where we are far away and safe from anyone who can hurt us. Ok.

Ethan: You can't mean what you said. Listen, Gwen stole a baby and we have to find her.

Rebecca: I know, ok? I -- I know what you're saying. They have to find her, but, my god, Ethan, think what they're going to do to her. Prison? Handcuffs? A trial?

Ethan: I know. And I don't want to think about how it's going to affect Gwen when she's captured, but the bottom line is we have got to find her. Jane is not her baby. Jane is Theresa’s baby.

Chad: Ethan, hey.

Ethan: Chad.

Chad: I just heard on the radio Paloma got attacked. What happened? Is she ok?

Ethan: Yeah, yeah, no, she did. I just heard about it, too. I don't know the details, but my dad said she's going to be fine.

Chad: So you haven't seen her yet?

Ethan: Honestly, no, I haven't seen her because I have a bigger problem here. Gwen is -- Gwen is gone.

Chad: Gone? What, what, she escape from jail?

Rebecca: Chad, not that it is any of your concern, but my daughter tried to kill herself and she had to be rushed here to the hospital.

Ethan: And from here, she took Theresa’s and my baby and she ran. She has my car.

Chad: Man, Theresa must be freaked out. Well, does Whitney know yet?

Ethan: Theresa went to go tell her family, and Whitney and Fox went with her. I just -- she doesn't know about Paloma, either. I don't know how she's going to take this. I don't know how much more Theresa’s going to take.

Luis: We'll put out an A.P.B. and Amber Alert and close off all of Harmony.

Fox: Actually, Sam already beat you to that. He closed down the train station, all the boat docks, airport, everything.

Luis: Well, glad to hear it. Every minute counts in a kidnapping. Let's just hope we're not too late.

Theresa: Oh, my god.

Luis: I'm sorry, but we are going to get your baby back, ok? You have to believe me. We're going to find baby Jane, ok?

Sheridan: That's what they told me, but I didn't get my baby back. That sure didn't happen. I'm sorry. If you will all excuse me.

Luis: Sheridan?

Katherine: I'll go, Martin.

Martin: Alright.

Luis: I'll be back in a sec.

Theresa: Luis?

Pilar: Ok, baby.

Paloma: What's going on up here?

Theresa: Oh, my god. Paloma. Mama, you said she was hurt, but -- what happened to her? What's happened to our family?

Luis: Hey. You stay away from Sheridan.

Katherine: Luis, look at her. She's suffering. I'm her mother. I just want to comfort her.

Luis: Stay away, you hear me? What, you haven't hurt her enough for one lifetime? Just go away. Go.

Katherine: He's right. I should go away.

Gwen: Oh, sweetheart, just a few more minutes, ok? A few more minutes and then we'll be at the store. Then I need to get you home. I need to get you back home as soon as I can because we need to be very careful when we're out. We don't want any of the bad people to find us. Oh, sweetheart, the only place that you and I are safe is at home in our snug little cabin.

[Siren]

Gwen: Oh, god. Oh, god. Oh, god, I'm being pulled over. Ok. That's ok. It's going to be fine, Gwen. Stay calm and stay focused. No one's going to take Ashley away from you, not ever again.

[Jane cries]

Gwen: Ok, little girl. Ok.

Luis: I know. Believe me, I know. It's all this talk of kidnapping, isn't it?

Sheridan: Oh, kidnapping, Amber Alerts, roadblocks. It's happening all over again, Luis. I'm reliving this all over again. You know, I just can't stop thinking about our baby, our poor baby going over that cliff, and every time I think about it, just those feelings -- it just breaks my heart in two all over again.

Luis: I know. It's horrible for you. It's horrible for me, too, honey. Listen, we have to be strong, ok? We have to be strong for Theresa, for my mother, for my niece, Jane.

Sheridan: You got to find her, Luis. You got to find Theresa’s baby. Don't let her live with this pain for the rest of her life the way that I have to. Please.

Luis: Ok. Hey -- where you going?

Sheridan: I -- I just need some time.

Theresa: But he didn't rape you?

Paloma: No. No, he heard the police sirens and stopped. But he hurt me, Theresa. He hurt me so bad, he almost killed me.

Theresa: I'm sorry. I'm just glad you're all right.

Eve: She's not really all right. She was very badly hurt. You shouldn't be up. Let's get you back to bed.

Paloma: But what's happened? I heard voices and crying. What is it? What's wrong?

Theresa: My baby -- she was kidnapped.

Paloma: Kidnapped?

Theresa: Yes. Crazy Gwen, she -- she stole my daughter and she ran away with her and we don't know where she is, so --

Paloma: Theresa, that's impossible. Oh, I'm so sorry. But don't worry, Luis and the police will find her and will bring her back. They already captured the jerk who attacked me. They will bring her back.

Theresa: Will you say a prayer that they do?

Paloma: I will. More than one.

Theresa: Thank you.

Eve: Now, come on, you go back to bed now.

Pilar: Mija, I'm right here, ok? Your family's right here. I'm not leaving. I'm right here.

Martin: I'm -- I'm here, too, Theresa.

Theresa: Get away from me!

Martin: But, honey, honey, I'm worried, too. You're my daughter.

Theresa: You know what? You're a little late, ok? You just stay away from me.

Martin: But Jane is my granddaughter.

Theresa: No! Listen, I don't want you near my daughter. I don't want you anywhere near my son, ok? And you know what, it shouldn't be very hard for you because you've had a lot of practice all these years!

Martin: But, honey, please, listen to me --

Pilar: Martin, you heard her. Leave her alone. Theresa has a lot on her plate to deal with you right now.

Martin: Yeah.

Katherine: Martin needs his family so much. And if they would just admit that they need him -- this is all my fault. I'm the one who's torn them all apart.

Theresa: Oh. Ok. Tell me. Tell me you have found my daughter.

Luis: Hey. Thought I might find you here. Got you some tea, two sugars, just the way you like it.

Sheridan: Thank you. Not right now.

Luis: Ok. Well, it's here if you want it, ok?

Sheridan: They're beautiful, aren't they?

Luis: Yeah.

Sheridan: I just hope that their parents realize how lucky they are that their babies are in this nursery, safe and sound. Soon, they'll be taking them home to love and care for. And someday, they'll be teaching them about Santa Claus and the Easter bunny. They get to hold their hand when they're too scared to go to school on their first day. They'll fight with them when they get their ears pierced. They get to share in every major moment in their life because that's the way that it's supposed to be, Luis! Nobody is supposed to take your baby away from you. Nobody is supposed to be evil enough to do that to anybody.

Luis: Well, Gwen’s not evil, ok, she's just sick.

Sheridan: I didn't mean Gwen!

Luis: Yeah, I knew that.

Sheridan: And why did this have to happen to us? Why did somebody have to take our baby away? I mean, every time I think about being separated from our baby, it's just like a dagger in my heart!

Luis: Hey. Look, you know it's more than just being separated, ok? Sheridan, our baby died. We both saw that happen.

Sheridan: In my mind, I know that, but in my heart -- I mean, there are just days where I swear I can hear our baby just in the room right next to us.

Luis: That's probably not good. Ahem.

Sheridan: To lose a baby, I mean, there's just nothing worse. I mean, why did my mother leave me? Why did she walk out on me? She was a terrible, terrible Mother. I mean, is that why my baby was taken away from me, because I was a terrible Mother, too?

Luis: No. Sheridan, come on, listen to -- you -- you're going to be the best mother in the whole wide world, ok? Hey, come on, look at little Marty. He loves you. He does.

Sheridan: Marty is not my son.

Luis: Right. Well, any other baby in the world would be really lucky to have you as a Mother. Look, Sheridan, none of this is your fault, ok? None of it.

Sheridan: Why? Why did this happen? Why?

Luis: I don't know.

Theresa: Tell me, Chief Bennett, tell me that you found our daughter.

Sam: No, Theresa, there's no word yet.

Theresa: Then why are you here? Please go out there and find her before Gwen does something awful to her, please!

Rebecca: Gwen would never, ever hurt a baby.

Theresa: She stole one, didn't she, Rebecca?

Sam: Theresa, listen, we're doing everything we can. There's a cordon around the entire town. Every off-duty officer that we have is out there searching with us. Jane is our number one priority.

Rebecca: And Gwen.

Sam: Absolutely. But you both have to have a little patience, ok?

Theresa: Patience. Oh, my god.

Chad: Hey, Whitney. How you holding up?

Whitney: Oh --

Chad: There's a chair over there. Why don't you sit down? You know, all this stress can't be good for the baby.

Fox: Hey, you know, we're perfectly capable of taking care of our own child. Thanks a lot, Chad, appreciate it.

Whitney: I'm ok. Besides, I want to stay close for Theresa’s sake.

Chad: Ok. Well, how about I go to the cafeteria, get you some tea?

Whitney: Thank you.

Chad: All right.

Martin: Hey. Where you going?

Katherine: I'm just going to go check on our little girl.

Martin: Ok.

Paloma: Tia Ellie. I don't know if I can ever learn to call you anything else.

Katherine: How are you doing, my darling?

Paloma: I'm very sore, but I'm getting better. I know it will take time until I feel ok again. Besides, Theresa’s the one I'm worried about. Her poor baby.

Katherine: I'll be praying for both of them.

Paloma: Tia, they have to find my niece. They have to. Theresa will lose her mind if this goes on much longer.

Katherine: Well, thank god Pilar is here to help her through it.

Paloma: Lucky her. My mother's never been around for me when I was in trouble.

Katherine: She's here for you now, if you'd just let her help you.

Paloma: It's too late.

Katherine: Paloma, listen to me -- it's never too late. You have no idea how much your mother loves you. When you were unconscious here, I saw how much. She was scared she was going to lose you. You know, when bad things happen, families pull together. You wouldn't believe the prayers and the loving here for you, especially from Pilar. And now she has Theresa and this granddaughter she's all worried about, as well. I hope you realize that your mother has always told you the truth. She would've done anything she could to keep you with her when you were just a little baby, but she couldn’t. So she made the next best choice she could for you to have a better life, which was to send you to Maria.

Paloma: Tia, I've heard this too many times before, and it's not true.

Katherine: Paloma, it is true. You're an adult now, my love. And after tonight, perhaps, a sadder and a wiser one. You need to put aside this resentment you have and try to understand. I want you to try to understand the sacrifice your mother has made for you from the perspective of a woman, not a child anymore. Do you think you can do that?

Paloma: Tia, why should I? You are my mother. You're the only mother I've ever known.

Katherine: I know. We've been so close. I love you with all my heart, Paloma. So I'm going to ask you to do something for me.

Paloma: What? Anything, you know that.

Katherine: Please, please, Paloma, give your mother a chance. Don't shut her out. She loves you so much. She needs you and she needs your help.

Paloma: I don't think my mother needs me.

Katherine: Paloma, please, you need your mother, too, and you know you do.

Paloma: No, Tia. I have you. And I will always have you.

Katherine: Paloma, please. Please, please do this for me. Please try.

Paloma: All right. I promise. I will try.

Katherine: Thank you, darling. It means so much to me. Now, you know what the doctor said. He said you had to get some sleep, so --

Paloma: I will. But come back and talk to me in a little while, ok?

Katherine: Of course I will.

Paloma: Ok.

Katherine: Goodbye. Goodbye, my little girl. I love you.

Ethan: You know, I'm feeling numb. I feel really helpless. But there's nothing I can do about this. I mean, where would Gwen take Jane?

Rebecca: Who knows? I mean, the staff at the mansion, they're all looking for her in case she shows up there, and the security guards are checking the grounds. I even called Jonathan, her father. It's the first civil conversation we've had in years. And he hasn't heard from her, either.

Ethan: Where could she have gone? Where would she take that little girl?

Gwen: Oh. Oh, honey, that ambulance really, really scared your mama. I thought it was a police car. And I'm sure that awful Theresa is telling everyone horrible lies about me, and I just don't want anyone to take you away from me again. You know, sweetheart, there might be -- might be a lot of people looking for us. But don't you worry, we're so far away from Harmony, we're practically in the middle of nowhere. No one's even going to think to look for us here, and no one's ever going to find us.

Katherine: Some people would say that leaving is the coward's way out. But, god, I don't know what else to do. I really think it's the best thing for everyone, no matter how much it's going to hurt me. But I have a favor, lord. It may be selfish, but, please, could you touch their hearts for me? Help them forgive me when I'm gone?

Father Lonigan: Katherine. Hope I'm not interrupting.

Katherine: No, Father.

Father Lonigan: We didn't finish our talk. Why not now? Is this a good time?

Katherine: It's probably the only time.

Father Lonigan: Then you're leaving. Do you think that's best?

Katherine: Yes. I am leaving Harmony. Why I ever came back, Father -- it was sheer madness. It was like some pipe dream that I had, and it ended up just being that -- a dream. Because all I've done is bring heartache and misery. I've caused so many people pain. So many. You know, Father, I think being blind is an advantage, because then you don't have to see the pain on the faces of the people you've hurt.

Father Lonigan: Isn't it better to stay, to help those loved ones work through their pain?

Katherine: No. No, it's best that I leave them all behind, including Martin.

Man: A customer. You're the first one in two hours.

Gwen: Lonely place.

Man: Need any help?

Gwen: Yes. Do you have any baby formula and diapers?

Man: Right over there.

Gwen: Ok, great, thanks. Oh, look, sweetheart, there's plenty of food for you. There you go. There you go.

Man: Hey. You -- you might need this.

Gwen: Ok, thanks.

Man: Hey, you. You're a cutie. Pink -- bet you it's a girl.

Gwen: Yes, she is. You like kids?

Man: Sure. I don't have any of my own yet, but I'm an a-number-one uncle, though.

Gwen: I'll bet you are. Thank you for your help. Ok, Ashley, hey, we need to stock up, ok? He seems nice and everything, but I do not like leaving the cabin and meeting people. It's too dangerous. Honey, we need food for a long time, a very long time.

Chad: Here you go. Herbal tea, no caffeine. You know, it's not good for the baby.

Whitney: Thank you.

Chad: Poor Ethan, huh? Look at him. He's going to wear a hole in the floor if he doesn't watch out.

Whitney: Yeah, he probably feels like this whole thing is his fault.

Chad: Well, I hope not. You know, he's just worried. I mean, wouldn't you be?

Whitney: You're his best friend. I'm sure he's glad to have you here.

Chad: I'm here for you, too, Whitney -- you know, if you want me to be. I know Fox is here, but, you know, just in case, I'm here, too.

Whitney: Thanks.

Pilar: Pray, Theresa. Have faith that god won't let anything bad happen to that baby.

Theresa: Mama, is that what you told Sheridan when her baby was taken? I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Mama. I'm trying to pray, it's just that twisted Gwen has my daughter, and god knows what she's going to do to her. I mean, she tried to kill me twice. She tried to kill herself. I mean, what if she finds a scissor or a knife and she goes after Jane?

Pilar: Theresa.

[Rebecca scoffs]

Rebecca: I heard that. You know, Gwen loves that baby. She would never do anything to hurt her.

Theresa: You didn't think she was capable of kidnapping, did you, Rebecca? But you were wrong!

Rebecca: But that was because you drove her to it.

Pilar: Enough, Rebecca. Please, just go away.

Ethan: Look, look, stop. Just stop. We all have to support each other here. We're all worried about Gwen and Jane, all of us. Theresa, Jane is my girl, too. If there's anything I know, I know that Gwen loves that baby and I know that she's not going to hurt her. That I know.

Theresa: I hope you're right because I'm scared.

Ethan: I'm scared, too. I'm really scared. But we're going to find them. We're going to do it, we're going to find them somehow.

Theresa: She's our baby, Ethan. Our baby.

Father Lonigan: Is it best to leave Martin, as well?

Katherine: I must, Father.

Father Lonigan: I can't approve of him breaking his vows of marriage for you, but I can sense how much you love him.

Katherine: I love him so much. I love him more than my own life, and that is why I must leave. You see, Father, Martin literally saved my life when he rescued me from Alistair. But it cost him everything in his life to do it.

Father Lonigan: He's a good man.

Katherine: He didn't even love me when he did it. That came much later when we were thrown together so much. No, this cost him everything that had meaning in his life, just to do a good deed. It cost him Pilar, it cost him his children, his career. But one good thing coming back to Harmony is it made me realize how much his family needs him. And Martin needs his family. He's in so much pain because he's cut off from them. It's my prayer that once I'm gone that somehow they will heal these rifts between them and maybe they can even be a family again.

Father Lonigan: It's noble of you to make that kind of sacrifice.

Katherine: Father, if there's one thing I've learned in my life, it's that if you truly love someone, you want what's best for them. Like when Pilar sent Paloma to her sister.

Father Lonigan: And leaving Martin -- is that the best thing for him, too?

Katherine: Yes, it is. Because if it weren't for me, I know he would've had a full and happy life with Pilar and with his children. You know, when Luis and Pilar lash out at me for stealing Martin from them, I -- I just stand there tongue-tied because they're right. I've robbed them of a husband and a father, and I've caused them so much pain.

Luis: She's got her hands full, huh?

Sheridan: Yeah, she does.

Luis: Sheridan, what are you doing? What are you -- Sheridan?

Sheridan: Excuse me?

Nurse: Sorry, I can't stop now. I'm short-handed and we have a full house tonight. Be with you when I can.

Sheridan: My name is Sheridan Crane, and I was just wondering if I could help you with the babies.

Nurse: Oh -- well, I don't know. You're not one of the regular volunteers, are you?

Sheridan: No, no.

Nurse: Because you have to get clearance and fill out forms. Ah, heck, that little guy needs some love right now.

Sheridan: Huh. Thanks.

Nurse: Now, support his head. Oh, you know already.

Sheridan: There. There's no reason to fuss, now, is there?

Nurse: Hey, you're a real natural with babies. You must already be a mother.

Sheridan: Yes, I am. Yes.

Luis: Sheridan. Sheridan, maybe -- ahem -- this isn't the best idea. I know that Jane’s kidnapping has brought up some painful memories, but, you know, this --

Sheridan: Don't kid yourself, Luis. I feel this pain every day, all the time. Why did this have happen to us? Why can't god give us back our baby?

Luis: Sheridan, our baby died.

Sheridan: And I -- I just -- I pray with everything that I've got that he will give Theresa Jane back because if he does -- don't think that I'm crazy, but if he does, it'll be a sign. It'll be a sign that there's hope, that a miracle can happen, and that we will get our baby back.

Luis: Look, Sheridan --

Sheridan: Because I believe in miracles. I have to, I have to believe in miracles because I don't think I could get through the day. There, there. Everything's going to be just fine. Yes, everything's going to be fine. Yes.

Katherine: I'm not a bad person, Father. I never wanted and I never meant to hurt anyone. But my children -- look, they carry lifelong wounds because of my actions. And Martin and Pilar and their children -- they've suffered so much. I have to make up for it, and the only way I know how to do it is to leave and never look back. And maybe -- maybe they'll all move on, including Martin.

Father Lonigan: Martin loves you, Katherine. He won't let you go.

Katherine: He won't know, father. By the time he realizes I'm gone, it'll be far too late. He'll never be able to find me.

Martin: Hey.

Paloma: Hey.

Martin: How you feeling?

Paloma: Still very sore.

Martin: Yeah. You know, it kills me to see you like this. I'm a total failure as a Father.

Paloma: No, Papi, don't say that. You've been listening to Mama and Luis, and they are wrong. You're a wonderful father. You always have been. I love you.

Martin: I love you, too. You know what?

Paloma: Hmm?

Martin: You -- you should be asleep.

Paloma: I know. I drift in and out.

Martin: Yeah, well, you get some rest. I didn't mean to disturb you.

Martin: I've lost my family. They want nothing to do with me. Nothing.

Eve: I know just what Theresa’s feeling right now. I know what it's like to lose a baby, have him taken away.

Whitney: You thought your baby was dead.

Eve: Yeah. Later I found out that he was alive, that Alistair had taken him away from me.

Whitney: Got any other missing children out there, Mom?

Eve: No, Whitney.

Whitney: You know, I wish it wasn't Theresa’s baby that was kidnapped. I wish it was my baby.

Eve: What?

Whitney: God, this baby has ruined my life. I hate it, Mom. I hate this baby.

Sam: I just got off from the district judge.

Rebecca: God, this doesn't sound too good for my Gwennie.

Ethan: What?

Sam: My hands are tied, ok? Gwen's already charged with two counts of attempted murder, and that's bad enough as it is. And now we have to add kidnapping charges, as well? Look, let's just hope she hasn't crossed the state line, ok, because she's in big trouble.

Ethan: God. God.

Rebecca: Oh, my god. Gwen, what have you done?

Officer: Chief, I'm sorry. They've all checked in from the roadblocks. Nobody's seen her. And that's ditto with the bus station, the docks, the airport, everywhere.

Sam: Damn.

Officer: She just vanished.

Sam: It looks like she might have slipped through the cordon before we had a chance to set up the roadblocks. Look, she could be anywhere.

Theresa: No. Please, you have to find her. You have to find my baby. I need her. Please.

Gwen: Ok, that's it. So you like music?

Man: Oh, yeah. The only two stations I got preset on my radio are classical or country. Hey, cutie.

Gwen: Hmm.

Man: She really is a great kid.

Gwen: Isn't she gorgeous? I just love her so much.

Man: So, you need anything else?

Gwen: I think that's it. Oh, you know what? Baby wipes.

Man: Right around the corner.

Gwen: Great. Thank you.

Man: Let's -- let's hear a little country.

Radio announcer: The police say the Amber Alert stays in effect till further notice. So listen up, all you country fans and truckers out there. Keep an eye peeled for that car and license plate number. This young woman is in jail. She's mentally unbalanced. It could be dangerous. They took her to Harmony Hospital because she tried to kill herself, and that's where she kidnapped that poor little baby. Call the police if you spot her. We'll repeat the Amber Alert every 10 minutes. Come on, people, do your best to help out with a really sad situation. Now here's one of my favorites. Thanks for listening. It's Blair Garner from WAQD, New England's choice for all your country hits.

[Country music plays]

>On the next passions:

Eve: You were about to expose your own secret.

Whitney: I don't care anymore, Mom.

Theresa: You can find her, Ethan. I know you can.

Ethan: I won't stop until we track them down.

Gwen: Why are you staring at me like that?

Man: You can't go anywhere.

Sheridan: I'm here because of my baby.
