Paloma: Hermanito, it's not fair for you to die.
Whitney: No, no, I don't want to go inside. Chad's in there. I don't want to go, ok?
Chad: You guys, Theresa's inside with Ethan and Gwen. What's wrong, Whitney?
Fox: Oh, she just felt a little sick. It's nothing.
Chad: Not your stomach again?
[Flashback to the news Whitney just received from Fox.]
Fox: Chad is your brother -- half brother, anyway. He's your mother and my father's son -- Eve and Julian's long-lost child. That's why you can't marry Chad. It's incest.
Whitney: Oh, my god. I'm pregnant. What am I going to do?
Chad: Are you all right?
Whitney: No. No, I'm not all right.
Singer: I would hold the hand of the one who could lead me places, and kiss the lips of the one who could sing so sweet, and I, would fly on the wings of the bird, I knew, could take me highest. Breathe in, breathe out. You keep me alive. You are the fire burning inside of me. You are my passion for life.
Chad: What happened, baby?
Fox: We were just talking, you know, and she just felt a little sick.
Chad: Ok, well, I'll go get your mom.
Whitney: No, not right now. I mean, I'll be fine. I'm just a little bit sick. I'll be ok.
Chad: No, no, no, I don't like this, all right? You've been feeling queasy a lot lately. I'll go get the maid to get you something for your stomach, ok? What, I can't even kiss you? Baby, you must be feeling bad.
Julian: You'd better sit down.
Eve: Julian, I don't need to sit down to hear good news. Now tell me, who is he? Oh, come on now, don't tease me. Now, if you know our son's name, it shouldn't be that hard to find out where he is and to meet him. Oh, my god, Julian, this is unbelievable. After all this time that we've been separated and believing he was dead -- and god only knows what he thought of his birth parents -- I still remember the night he was taken from me in the hospital.
[Flashback to the night Eve stood at the nursery window and watched a man take her baby.]
Eve: Julian? Is that you? Who are you?
[Eve pounds on window]
Eve: What are you doing? Stop it! No, please, somebody! Help! He's taking my baby!
Eve: And to think, I never saw him again after that, not once. So, how did you do it? How did you cut through your father's roadblocks and find out our son's identity?
Julian: The information comes at a cost.
Eve: Well, it doesn't matter. Whatever Alistair wanted, it would be worth it for us to find our son. So what's his name?
Julian's inner voice: Father was right. I wish I'd never found out. What's it going to do to Eve to find out her daughter and son are in love with each other?
Martin: Go ahead, Alistair. Come on. Shoot me in cold blood. Show me the monster we both know you to be.
Alistair: Who are you to call me names? A shanty Irishman who married and abandoned my family's housekeeper to run away with my wife?
Martin: I didn't leave Pilar to be with Katherine, and you damn well know it. There was no other way to help Katherine escape your violent, abusive travesty of a marriage.
Alistair: She betrayed me with you!
Martin: Yeah, if that's the way you want to look at it, fine. But just for the record, she and I didn't fall in love until a long time after I got her away from you.
Alistair: No. No, you were lovers who ran away to be together.
Martin: Yeah, I didn't expect you to believe that. But you got it all backwards. I was happily married to Pilar when I left Harmony. I just couldn't stand back and watch Katherine continue to be tortured by you. She never did anything to hurt you!
Alistair: The hell she didn't! And just for the record, I don't give a damn when you actually consummated your treacherous adultery. Nobody gets away with making a fool of me.
Martin: Oh, hey, god forbid Alistair Crane suffers any public embarrassment. But, hey, you don't mind killing innocent people, including your daughter and her mother, a woman you claimed to have once loved.
Alistair: They deserve to die, especially Katherine. Rationalize deserting your wife and children any way you like, Martin. The fact is you abandoned your hard-working, devoted family to live in sin with my wife in sunny Mexico, and something tells me Pilar wouldn't be any more understanding than I am if she were to hear your lame story. Imagine -- all the nights you were making love to my wife, she was climbing into a half-empty marriage bed.
Martin: You shut your damn mouth! You know nothing of how any of this happened, how I felt, how I still feel.
Alistair: Nor will I. I only wish I'd managed to take care of the two of you before you ran off together like two thieves in the night.
Martin: Yeah, you forced us to run, Alistair. If Katherine stayed another day, you'd have killed her. I would've never left my wife and children if it hadn't been for you. They're all I think about night and day, all these years.
Alistair: Likely story, Martin, but it doesn't matter much since most of your family believes you to be dead already. Damn you!
Martin: I'll kill you, you bastard! [Martin lunges at Alistair and they struggle for the gun.]
Paloma: No te puedo dejar aqui, hermanito. I must get your body out of here.
[Paloma tries to lift Luis but he is too heavy.]
Paloma: I'm sorry, Luis. I'll go outside and find a way to block the entrance so nothing -- nothing can get in here and disturb your body, then I'll find my tio and my tia and your Sheridan. I pray to god they're still alive. I did love you, Luis. I'm sorry you never got to hear me say it.
Chad: Why'd you just shrink away from me? What, did I do something wrong?
Whitney: No, no, it's just that --
Chad: It's your stomach, isn't it? It's ok. I don't much like being touched when I'm sick, either. You just freaked me out a little bit, that's all, you know? Was I wrong to think that you wanted to get married sooner than -- what, do I -- do I have something stuck in my teeth or something, baby?
Whitney: No, no.
Chad: Well, then why are you looking at me like that?
Whitney: Um -- I'm sorry. I -- I'm sick. I'm really feeling sick to my stomach.
Chad: Ok, well, I'll get something for your stomach.
Chad: All right. [Chad heads to the mansion to get something for Whitney's stomach.]
Fox: Whitney, I am so sorry that you're going through this. I hate to be the one to have to tell you.
Whitney: What you're trying to tell me about Chad isn't true. He's not my half brother.
Fox: Whitney, we've been through all the reasons. We know he is.
Whitney: No. No, he's not because I just studied his face very closely, and you know what? He doesn't have one feature that resembles me or my mother or Simone, and as a matter of fact, your father, either.
Fox: That doesn't mean anything.
Whitney: No, it most certainly does! And you know what? You're probably the one who made up this whole lie to stop me from marrying Chad in the first place, right?
Fox: I didn't make it up. I'd do anything to make it untrue, but I can't. The fact of the matter is, is that Chad is your mother's son by my father. He's your half brother and my half brother, too, and that's the reality.
Eve: Ok, so, what's his name? Is he in Harmony, as we suspected?
Julian: Yes, he's here in town.
Eve: Oh, my god! Then that's something that your father didn't lie about. So, I've probably seen him. I've probably passed him in the street. I bet you have, too.
Julian: We both have.
Eve: I don't know. This is nothing short of a miracle, especially happening now, today, when I felt like the bottom of my life had just dropped out? I've lost T.C., but I still may be able to salvage a relationship with Whitney and Simone. Because when they meet their half brother, and they have a better understanding of -- of what it was like for me, how horrible it was to have him taken away from me as a baby, then maybe they'll have more compassion for what my life was like back then.
Julian: I wouldn't count on it, Eve.
Eve: I know, I know. I am -- I'm getting my hopes up too high. I know. But, I mean, it's still possible, though, isn't it, that -- that they could all become friends? That they could be a real family together? Ok, come on, Julian, now, stop this. Tell me who he is.
Julian: Eve, it's not that simple.
Eve: Well, why not? What could be more simple than telling me the name of my long-lost son? You're about to make my biggest dream come true.
Julian: That's just it, Eve. Sometimes even the best dreams turn into nightmares.
Eve: How can you say that? How could me finding my son be anything but wonderful?
Paloma: I'm sorry to leave you here, Luis, but I don't know how long it'll be before I can get help to move your body, to move you to someplace safe where nothing can harm you again. God, why did my brother have to die? If only he hadn't come to Mexico to see me.
Alistair: Damn you!
Martin: You bastard. Give it up, you son of a -- you've taken enough from me already!
Alistair: Nobody wins in a war against Alistair Crane!
Martin: Your money won't buy you victory this time, Crane!
Alistair: I won when I was born! There's a reason the Cranes rise to the top. It's in our genes, our blood. People like you stay weak and in the underclass because you don't have what it takes! You're mentally and morally inferior! My people harvest fortunes! Yours, potatoes! [Martin finally wrenches the gun out of Alistair's hands.]
Martin: You bastard! What was that? I didn't hear you, Alistair. Huh? What was that about the weak and inferior? Yeah, leave it to the world's biggest coward to crawl like the yellow belly you are.
Alistair: Don't -- don't shoot, please. Please -- please, don't shoot.
Martin: Why should I listen to you beg for mercy, huh? Did you listen before you killed Antonio or Luis or Sheridan or Katherine? Did you listen for Paloma's cries for help when she was in the clutches of your paid henchman? Not a chance, and that's why I won't show you any mercy, either, Alistair Crane.
Whitney: Fox, please, tell me there's a chance -- I mean, even if it's just a small one -- that what you told me isn't true. You know, maybe you misheard your grandfather talking to Julian, or, you know, maybe you really are lying because you couldn't handle the news that Chad and I are going to get married.
Fox: Stop it, Whitney, ok? I'd do anything to spare you the pain that you're feeling right now. That includes losing you to another man, but this is real. It seemed like the lesser of two evils. I had to tell you before you went on with your plans.
Whitney: Oh, my god. Oh, my god.
Chad: Here you go. Why are you two looking so serious? You're not ragging on my best man again, are you?
Whitney: No. No, I wasn't.
Chad: Good, because I hate to see the two people I'm closest to in the world start bickering. So, are you going to tell me what you guys were talking about or what?
Fox: He deserves to know.
Chad: Know what?
Whitney: Nothing. Nothing.
Chad: It doesn't look or sound like nothing to me.
Whitney: Don't listen to Fox, ok? He's just being his overdramatic self. It's nothing.
Chad: Ok, about what?
Fox: You tell him or I will.
Chad: Whoa, hold up. You guys are making me a little nervous now. What the hell's going on here?
Whitney: Don't listen to Fox, ok? Whatever he tells you, don't listen to what he has to say.
Chad: No, I got to know now. So whatever it is, man, give it to me straight. All right, what's the deal?
Fox: Ok, Chad. I know who your parents are. I know who they both are.
Eve: Oh, god, is he ill? Or is he in trouble with the law? Because if he is, it's not his fault. He never had his parents' love, and that's why he took the wrong path.
Julian: That isn't it. He is not sick and he's not in trouble.
Eve: Oh, thank god.
Julian: As a matter of fact, he turned out to be rather a fine young man, a son that we can both be very, very proud of.
Eve: Well, that's wonderful. Then Whitney and Simone will -- will come around and accept him as their brother. Oh, and I just realized -- our son would be the same age as Chad. Wouldn't that be terrific if they became friends?
Julian: Eve --
Eve: I mean, maybe he could even come to Whitney and Chad's wedding. That would just be the perfect family reunion.
Julian: Stop it!
Eve: Julian, what's the matter with you? You just said that our son is well and that you know his name and that everything is fine.
Julian: I've been trying to tell you, it's not as simple as that.
Eve: Well, I don't like this game you're playing with me. So you just tell me our son's name right now.
Julian: Our son's name is Chad.
Eve: Chad? Oh, well, that's an incredible coincidence. And he lives in here in Harmony?
Julian: It's not a coincidence at all. Our son is Chad. Our long-lost son is Chad Harris.
Paloma: Now nothing will be able to disturb Luis' body. I have to find help.
Paloma: Who was that? Hello? If someone can hear me, I need help!
Paloma: Oh, my god, Luis -- Luis, you're -- you're alive! Luis, hang on! Hang on! I'm coming!
Paloma: Luis -- Luis, I thought you were dead.
Luis: Paloma. Where's Sheridan? Where is she?
Paloma: I don't know where she is. I'm afraid she's dead.
Martin: I only wish I'd done this before you killed so many innocent people.
Martin: I've waited long enough already.
Alistair: You fool. I thought you might want to see Sheridan and your precious Katherine alive again.
Martin: What the hell are you talking about? They both died from snakebites, thanks to you.
Alistair: Unconscious, but not dead -- yet. There's still time to revive them if you get them the antidote inside this bag. [Alistair taunts Marting with a leather pouch containing two syringes.]
Martin: You're lying! I saw them both. They stopped breathing!
Alistair: Not stopped, just slowed down. Of course, if you don't get them the antidote within the next two minutes, they will die, and then you'll have no one to blame but yourself.
Martin: You're lying, you bastard.
Alistair: From everything I've read, the snakebite victim goes into a catatonic-like state moments after the poisonous bite. The heartbeat, the pulse -- they slow down so much, they're imperceptible. Trust me, my wife and daughter are still very much alive down in that pit.
Martin: I'd give anything for you to be right, but you --
Alistair: Fine, don't believe me, then the two of them die. I certainly don't give a damn. Tick-tock, tick-tock --
Martin: No, no, it's a trick. Why should I believe you? Why would you just happen to have snakebite antidote on you?
Alistair: Because I'm always prepared for any emergency. The guide told me to keep it with me in the event of my own unfortunate meeting with a reptile.
Martin: Give it to me.
Alistair: Oh, starting to become a believer, huh? But it's mine.
Martin: Hand it over or I'll shoot you right here on the spot!
Alistair: I got a better idea. You give me the gun, and I'll give you the antidote.
Martin: Forget it. You're all out of bargaining chips.
Luis: No, Sheridan -- she can't be dead. I -- I left her back at the Inn when I went to look for you.
Paloma: She came after you with the Wheelers. They saw the explosion. Everybody thought you were dead.
Luis: What about you? How did you escape?
Paloma: The man that took me tried to rape me, and he said he was going to kill me afterwards, and I hit him with a rock.
Luis: Good. Where is he now?
Paloma: Out there. He won't come to for a long time.
Luis: Good girl. You really are a Lopez-Fitzgerald, aren't you? All right, now, what exactly -- what happened with Sheridan and with the Wheelers?
Paloma: I don't know. I only know that someone wanted all of us dead. I heard the man that kidnapped me say it on the phone. I'm sorry, Luis.
Luis: Sorry for -- for what? Paloma, none of this is your fault.
Paloma: Yes, it is. If -- if I had gone to Harmony in the first place, you and Sheridan wouldn't have come here to get me, and none of this would've happened if I had swallowed my foolish pride.
Luis: Paloma, listen. Listen to me. You cannot blame yourself for this, ok? There's only one person who could possibly be responsible. That is the same person who killed Antonio and has been trying to keep me and Sheridan apart for years.
Paloma: I don't understand.
Luis: I wouldn't expect that you would. It's a long story. Now, come on, we -- we got to find Sheridan and the Wheelers.
Paloma: But how? We have no idea where they are.
Martin: You're nothing but a cold-blooded animal.
Alistair: In possession of the antidote that could save the lives of Katherine and Sheridan. Give me the gun, Martin. We'll make ourselves a decent trade.
Martin: You underestimate my hatred for you, Alistair. Better to kill you and live with the mortal sin on my soul. Then you're gone, and I still have a chance of saving Sheridan and Katherine.
Alistair: Don't let them break! Ta-ta, Martin!
[Alistair tosses the syringes in the air and turns and runs.]
[Martin rushes to catch the syringes, and once he has the, he shoots at Alistair. Gunshot]
Alistair: Better luck next time!
Martin: Oh, Sheridan and Katherine -- I pray it's not too late.
Paloma: What was that?
Luis: Sounded like a gunshot. Oh, my god -- Sheridan.
Paloma: Be careful, Luis. You are very weak.
Luis: I have to find her.
Paloma: But you can barely walk.
Luis: I have to find Sheridan. I can do it.
Alistair: Oh, no, Martin. This isn't over, not by a long shot. You and Katherine and Sheridan may survive today, but you'll still die at my hand very soon. [Alistair stops to rest and drink at a nearby pool.]
Martin: Please, god, let this work.
Martin: Katherine? Wake up! Sheridan? Meme on! Damn you, Alistair! There's nothing in here but cold water! I've lost them both.
Chad: You know who my parents are? Well, tell me their names, man.
Fox: Well, I will. It's just --
Chad: What's with the downer faces? What, do I know them? Are they bad people or something?
Fox: No, it -- it's not that. It's --
Chad: Did he already tell you?
Whitney: Um --
Chad: Well, for god's sakes, would someone just say something? I -- I don't get this. You know, I've been searching for them for years, and now of all sudden you know who they are and I don't. I mean, how -- how'd you find out?
Fox: I overheard father and grandfather talking about it.
Chad: Your father and grandfather talking about my parents? What for? It's not like they'd have much interest in them. God, I can't believe this. Baby, this is incredible. This is the best day of my life. We are getting married, and now I'm about to find out who my mother and father are.
Whitney: Chad, listen, um --
Chad: Whoa, whoa, what's with the faces? What's going on here? What's the deal?
Fox: You'll understand when I tell you.
Whitney: Don't do it.
Chad: Excuse me? Baby, we're talking about my parents here. Why am I the last to know? Look, if it's something bad, just give it to me straight, man.
Fox: Ok. Like I said, I overheard father and grandfather talking about Julian's long-lost son.
Chad: What, the one he had with Eve Russell? The one that was kidnapped?
Fox: That's right.
Chad: So they found out the name of their son. I mean, god, they must be flying. I mean, I know how it feels to look for someone for years that you never think you're going to find. It's just incredible they're finding out the name of their son the same time that I'm finding out the name of my -- my mother and father. So, this is a real coincidence, isn't it? Well, talk to me, Fox. If not about my parents, then -- then how about the name of -- of Julian and Dr. Russell's son?
Fox: It's you, Chad. You're the long-lost son. Eve and Julian are your mother and father.
Eve: Chad? Chad Harris is my son? Well, you're right. I mean, he's a wonderful young man, and there was always something that reminded me of you, but I never knew what it was.
Julian: I've always been fond of the lad myself.
Eve: And I was never so opposed to his relationship with -- oh, my god. Whitney. Whitney and Chad.
Martin: Damn you to hell, Alistair! The antidote didn't work! You were lying! They're dead. Katherine and Sheridan are dead.
Martin: Katherine? Katherine?
Katherine: Oh --
Martin: Are you alive?
Katherine: Martin-- Martin. Martin, what happened?
Martin: Oh, lord, thank you.
Katherine: Oh -- snakes -- the snakes were coming at me, and I got bitten, and everything-- everything went black.
Martin: Oh, I was so afraid I had lost you. Darling, darling, after everything we've been through, I don't know what I would have done without you.
Katherine: Oh. Sheridan? Where's Sheridan? My daughter -- where's Sheridan? Oh --
Martin: I'm sorry. The antidote I injected didn't work.
Katherine: Oh --
Martin: Oh -- Sheridan! Sheridan, wake up. Sheridan!
Katherine: Oh, my darling daughter! Oh, my daughter. Oh.
Martin: Hey, Katherine? Katherine? There's still snakes everywhere. We have to get out of here.
Katherine: Oh, my god! Oh, god.
Paloma: Luis, estas muy debil. We need to find medical help for you.
Luis: No. We need to find Sheridan.
Paloma: You almost died in that explosion. At least rest for a few minutes.
Luis: There's no time.
Katherine: Oh -- oh, Sheridan. Oh, my beloved daughter.
Martin: I was afraid you were both dead.
Katherine: You -- you found the antidote? How?
Martin: I got it from Alistair.
Katherine: Oh, my god, Alistair? In the jungle?
Martin: Yeah, apparently he wanted to be on the scene to watch us die.
Katherine: Well, where is he now?
Martin: I'm not sure. I'm sorry to say he got away.
Katherine: Well --
Katherine: Oh, it doesn't matter. It's all right. We're all together now and we're safe. Oh, Martin, thank you so much for saving my life. Thank you so much, and thank you for saving my daughter's life. How do you feel, darling? How do you feel?
Martin: You feel strong enough to walk? We really need to get out of here.
Sheridan: What happened?
Martin: You were bit by a poisonous snake, you and Ellen. I was afraid you were both dead.
Katherine: He saved our lives, Sheridan. Martin saved our lives.
Sheridan: Oh, god. I had the worst dream. I -- I dreamt there was a horrible explosion. Where's Luis? Tell me he's not dead.
Martin: It wasn't a dream. I'm afraid he is.
Sheridan: No. Then you shouldn't have saved me! I don't want to be alive if Luis is dead! I -- I just want to be with Luis!
Paloma: Luis, this is crazy. You're not strong enough to keep going. Something could happen to you.
Luis: We have to keep going. We have to find Sheridan. [Luis passes out.]
Paloma: Oh, my god, Luis! Luis? Luis? Oh, no, Luis! Luis, don't die! Don't die. Luis? Luis, don't die.
Eve: Oh, not Chad. Please tell me that he is not our biological son.
Julian: I'm so sorry, but that's who he is.
Eve: Oh, god, but he and Whitney --
Julian: I know.
Eve: They're brother and sister. Oh, god, no.
Chad: Dr. Russell and Julian Crane -- my parents? After all these years. I can't believe it, man. We're -- we're half brothers. This is incredible, isn't it? I mean, no wonder I felt so close to Fox. We were related by blood. And -- and to think that Dr. Russell was my -- oh, my god. No, no. No, no, it can't be true. No, Fox, I -- I believe the part about your father, but not -- but not Eve Russell. No, man, she can't be my mother. That means that Whitney's my -- please, man. Don't make this be true.
Chad: You're my sister?
Sheridan: You should've let me die. Without Luis, I have nothing to live for.
Katherine: Sheridan, you don't talk like that. You're young. And I know -- I know how terrible this is, but you have your whole life ahead of you. Life is precious. People love you so much.
Sheridan: No, not like Luis, nobody like Luis. Without him, I have nothing to live for, nothing at all. I can't go on, I just can't.
Luis: Yeah, you can, and you will. I'm not dead. I'm right here, Sheridan.
Sheridan: Luis. Oh, my -- oh, my god! Luis! Oh, god! Luis! [Sheridan runs into Luis' arms.]
Luis: I love you. And I'm not leaving you, not ever again.
NEXT ON PASSIONS:
Chad: Is it true? Are you my parents?
Julian: It's true, Chad. You are our son.
Paloma: I was kidnapped and could've been killed. I need to know what's going on.
Ethan: I need to know now -- why'd you do it?
