Kay: Did I hear you right? You want me to kill Charity?
Tabitha: Oh, there's no other choice, Kay. You wanted her to live, so we tried it your way. I conjured up an evil version of her dead mother and commanded her to convince Charity to break up with Miguel, but the girl won't listen.
Kay: You've reined in Evil Faith a couple of times. If you just make her stay sweet and loving, I am positive that she can convince Charity to give up Miguel.
Tabitha: Oh, you're fooling yourself, Kay, and you know it. Charity will never leave Miguel, not for you, not for her mother, not for anyone. She loves Miguel too much. Just listen to her!
[Kay and Tabitha listen through Tabitha's magic gazing bowl as Evil Faith talks to Charity.]
Charity: I just -- I cannot believe you came back to see me.
Evil Faith: I came back to the land of the living because I'm worried about you. You must give up Miguel.
Charity: Mom! I'm sorry, but I can't do that. I love him way too much!
Evil Faith: If you don't give up Miguel, you are doomed! Do you hear me? Doomed!
Charity: You're yelling at me again.
Tabitha: Face it, Kay. If Charity won't listen to her dead mother, she sure as Hades won't listen to anyone else.
Kay: But --
Tabitha: If you really want Miguel for yourself, you have no choice. You are going to have to kill Charity -- now! *************
Rebecca: Julian, I want to know what that phone call was about, and I want to know now! I know it had something to do with your floozy, Eve Russell, didn't it?
Julian: The call was not about Eve. It had to do with business.
Rebecca: Oh, business doesn't get you that upset.
Julian: It does when I stand to lose a great deal of money.
Rebecca: How much money?
Julian: Don't worry. Your elaborate lifestyle won't be affected.
Rebecca: You know, I wasn't just thinking of myself. Pookie, you are my husband, and as such, I don't want you to be stressed out because of work or anything. In fact, I know a great way to relieve stress.
Julian: Ahem. I'm really not interested.
Rebecca: Oh, no, no, don't be so quick to say no. You see, I could go upstairs, I could run us a hot bath for two, hmm? And I could put some scented oils in it and call cook and have him send up some oysters, caviar, champagne, and then when we're all bathed and fed, we can play one of our games. Oh, oh, I have some great new costumes -- master and commander. Oh, although in our case, it would be master and cabin girl. So what do you say, Pookie?
Julian: Fine, fine. Go, go -- yes, go get ready.
Rebecca: Oh, good -- oh, oh, I mean, aye, aye, commander. [Rebecca leaves.]
Julian: I have to do whatever I can to help Eve. She has no memory of the accident, not even of being there.
Liz: So you think that there was another person in the car that hit you that night, T.C.?
T.C.: Yes. I can't believe that I haven't remembered this before, but there was a second shadow in the car. I have been so focused on Julian driving the car -- I think there was somebody else in the car with him.
Liz: Of course there was, Eve -- you. T.C., do you have any idea who that person could have been?
T.C.: No. I wish I did know.
Liz: How about you, Eve? Do you know who was in the car with Julian Crane that night?
Sheridan: I hope I did the right thing, not letting Antonio know that I'm here. And I hope that you're all right, Luis.
[Luis continues to relive his past life with Sheridan.]
Harry: That was the only reason that you were looking at me? Mere curiosity at having never seen a pirate before?
Patience: Yes. What else could it have been?
Harry: In that case, my apologies. I thought I sensed something more.
Patience: "Something more"?
Harry: An interest, perhaps? In me?
Patience: Certainly not! You have a high opinion of yourself, sir.
Harry: Indeed. But again, my apologies.
Patience: Good day!
[Patience gasps and screams] [Patience falls off the dock into the bay.]
Andrew: That's patience's voice.
Singer: I would hold the hand of the one who could lead me places; and kiss the lips of the one who could sing so sweet; and I, would fly on the wings of the bird, I knew, could take me highest. Breathe in, breathe out. You keep me alive; you are the fire burning inside of me. You are my passion for life.
Liz: Well, Eve? Do you have any idea who might have been in the car with Julian that terrible night?
T.C.: Liz, Eve wouldn't know anything about that, ok? I mean, she wasn't even in Harmony back then. Plus, she wouldn't know anything about Julian Crane, and the disgusting scum he hung around with back in those days. Eve is good. She comes from a good family.
Liz: Yes, so I hear. But, you know, sleazy lowlifes can be tricky. They pretty themselves up, they weasel their way into your life, and then you don't realize what they really are until it's too late. Don't you agree, Eve?
Julian: Eve, it's me. I -- I just found out that Liz has been snooping around, trying to dig up information on T.C.'s old car accident.
Eve: Well, I'm sorry, but I'm not surprised.
Julian: Are Liz and T.C. with you there now?
Eve: I think that would be an accurate diagnosis.
Julian: Are you all right?
Eve: No. Not at all.
Julian: I need to see you. I need to -- I need to tell you some things about that night.
Eve: I -- yes, I think that's a very good idea. I'll be right there.
Liz: Let me guess -- that was the hospital.
Eve: T.C., honey, I'm very sorry. I -- I have a patient at the hospital who's not doing very well, and I need to get over there right away.
T.C.: Honey, I understand, ok? Now, I don't want you to worry yourself about my bad memories of the accident. All right?
Eve: I just wish that I --
T.C.: I know. You wish that you were there at the time of the accident. Honey, you weren't even in Harmony then. Now, I know you couldn't have been there with me at the accident. But years after the accident, you have been with me every day of my life. You remember doing rehab?
T.C.: When I was strung out on those painkillers? You got me through that, sweetheart, you got me off those drugs, and I will never, ever forget that.
Eve: I hope not.
T.C.: Honey, I know that you're someone that I can always depend on. You're so supportive, so loving. And I know that you would never do anything to hurt me.
Liz: Oh, T.C., wait until you learn the truth.
Andrew: Patience? Patience! It's Andrew! Can you hear me? [Andrew dove in and pulled Patience from the water.]
Harry: Patience -- you can't die now. We just met. Come on, Patience, you can do it.
Patience: Oh. For a minute I thought -- you saved my life.
Harry: It was my pleasure.
Andrew: Step away from her, pirate, now!
Andrew: You're ok now, Patience. You're safe. You, pirate, step away! You broke out of jail, you kidnapped the governor's daughter. You were going to be hung tomorrow, but I'm just going to go ahead and shoot you now! Stand up and step away!
Tabitha: Face it, Kay. Charity will never willingly walk away from Miguel. You have to kill her.
Kay: I hate Charity. But -- but kill her?
Evil Faith: Listen to me, Charity. If you pursue a relationship with Miguel, it will only bring you heartache and despair.
Charity: Mom, Miguel and I meant to be together. I'm totally convinced of it now. I can't give him up.
Kay: I can't do it. As much as I want to, I can't. I can't kill Charity.
Tabitha: That's all right, dear. I knew you wouldn't be able to.
Kay: You did?
Tabitha: My powers may be slightly erratic, but they're not gone altogether. So, that's why I had a backup plan at the ready.
Kay: What kind of backup plan?
Tabitha: You'll see.
Patience: Andrew, no! You do not understand. All right, I was out walking, and this man saved my life. He has done nothing wrong. I just -- I got too close to the edge of the pier and I lost my footing and I fell into the water. I was drowning, and this man jumped in and saved me.
Andrew: Patience, why do you defend this man so vigorously?
Patience: Because I -- I couldn't bear the thought of you killing the man who saved my life. Please, Andrew, if you love me, you'll let him go. Do not be my savior's executioner. My conscience couldn't bear it.
Andrew: All right, against my better judgment, I'll do as you ask.
Patience: Thank you.
Andrew: Now, you better go before I change my mind or come to my senses, one.
Harry: Thank you, milady.
Andrew: Patience, you're shivering. Come on, let's take you home and get you out of these wet clothes. Come on.
Harry: Until we meet again, Patience. No doubt we will.
Kay: What kind of backup plan do you have? Who's going to kill Charity?
Tabitha: You are, dear.
Kay: But -- but I just said I can't!
Tabitha: Uh-uh-uh-uh-uh -- shh, shh, shh, shh, shh.
Kay: Whoa! What's going on?
Tabitha: Dark forces, I summon you. Help cast my spell. To her conscience let this mortal bid fond farewell. Numb her will, make it mine so she follows my cue and happily acts as I want her to.
Tabitha: Until this spell is removed, you will do exactly as I say, Kay. You will be unable to refuse any order I give you, no matter how morally repulsive it might be. You, Kay Bennett, are completely and utterly under my control.
Tabitha: Well, Kay? Are you ready to kill Charity now? Well? Are you?
Kay: Charity has stood between me and Miguel long enough. It is time to get her out of my way permanently. Charity must die, and I'm the one who's going to kill her.
Tabitha: That's my good girl -- or I should say my bad girl!
Eve: I just keep having these memories, and they're just coming out of nowhere -- about this car accident, and it's so confusing, Julian, and frightening, because I don't even know what it is that I am looking at!
Julian: Just tell me what you remember.
Eve: Well, it's -- it's all very jumbled up, but I think that it's T.C.'s accident. Julian, please tell me the truth. I was there, wasn't I? I was there with you in the car that hit T.C.
Julian: Yes --
Eve: Oh --
Julian: Yes, you were there.
Eve: Oh, god! Oh, god! Oh, how could I not put that together? How can I block that all out?
Julian: We'd been drinking. We were both very drunk. You passed out right after the accident. You had no memory of it.
Eve: Why didn't you tell me?
Julian: Because I -- I felt it was better that way.
Eve: Oh, god! What, better -- better that I destroy the life of the man that I married?
Julian: You were not married to T.C. then. You didn't even know him.
Eve: But I know him now! And now I'm married to a man whose life I have destroyed!
Julian: No, no, no, you can't blame yourself. If you have to blame someone, blame me.
Eve: All right. Just tell me one more thing. Now, these memories are all mixed up, but I keep having flashes of me behind the steering wheel, and I know that I didn't have a driver's license back then.
Julian: Listen, you stop torturing yourself. You just put it out of your mind.
Eve: No, no, I can't! Was I -- was I driving the car? Was I driving the car that destroyed T.C.'s life?
Andrew: I still don't understand what you were doing down at the harbor all alone like that.
Patience: I told you, I needed some air.
Andrew: Yes, and look where it got you. Next time, please, just go out on the terrace. I mean, a gentlewoman walking around alone like that -- no telling what could happen.
Patience: Please, Andrew, it's over.
Andrew: Falling off the pier, being accosted by that -- that rotten pirate -- I mean, if I hadn't have showed up when I did, no telling what that scoundrel might have done to you.
Patience: He's not a scoundrel. He saved my life. [Patience catches a glimpse of Harry hiding on her balcony.] [Patience gasps]
Andrew: What is it? Is something wrong?
Andrew: Who's out there?
Tabitha: I should have put Kay under this spell a long time ago.
Kay: What did you say?
Tabitha: Oh -- this poison is a lovely color, dear. [Tabitha is painting Kay's teeth with a green poison.]
Kay: Why are you putting poison on my teeth?
Tabitha: So that when you bite Charity the poison will flow into her bloodstream and kill her.
Kay: I'm going to bite Charity?
Tabitha: Well, yes -- but not as you, but -- well, yes, you.
Kay: Now I'm really confused.
Tabitha: Yes, well, you won't be when I finished. All right, now, stop talking and open your mouth. There. Ooh! Perfect! Now keep your mouth open so they dry. There. Now you're all ready.
Kay: Ready to do what?
Tabitha: You're ready for this moment. Boys?
Liz: Oh, T.C., this is a great new lead. Whoever was in the car can set the record straight. We just have to find them. Now, do you have any memory what he or she looked like?
T.C.: Liz, like I said, I just remember seeing a shadowy figure. I mean, knowing Julian, it was probably one of his whores.
Liz: Oh, yes, I think you're right, T.C.
T.C.: If only I could just see her face.
Liz: T.C., I've been thinking. What if it wasn't Julian driving the car that night?
T.C.: Not Julian?
Liz: No. What if the person driving the car was a woman Julian was with?
Eve: Was it me? Was I driving the car that hit T.C.?
[Flashback to the night of the accident. Eve and Julian are laughing drunkenly, while Eve drives the car.]
Julian: No, it was me. [Julian lies.]
Eve: And you're not saying that just to protect me?
Julian: No. It was me. I was driving the car. I shouldn't have. I was drunk, and I -- I hit T.C. It wasn't you. It was me.
Patience: There's nothing out there!
Andrew: Then why did you gasp?
Patience: I -- I just realized that in all this excitement I hadn't had any dinner. I'm hungry.
Andrew: You almost die and all you can think about is a missed meal? What am I going to do with you?
Patience: Would you please have the cook bring me up some soup?
Andrew: Anything for you.
Patience: Thank you.
[Door opens and closes as Andrew heads downstairs.]
Patience: Have you lost your mind? If Andrew or my father caught you here, they would kill you.
Harry: Not before I share some of that soup with you. I'm starving.
Patience: How dare you! I should call Andrew right now.
Harry: But you won't.
Patience: How can you be so sure that I won't?
Harry: Well, because you would have said something when you first saw me, but you didn't.
Patience: I don't know why I kept it from him.
Harry: I do. For the same reason I risked my life to come here.
Patience: You presume far too much, Harry Blodgett.
Harry: I don't think so, Lady Patience. I have something for you. This belonged to my father. Whenever he had to go away, he would give it to my mother so she had something to remember him by.
Patience: You're going away?
Harry: Do you not want me to? That's ok. You don't have to say it out loud. I can see it in your eyes. But fear not. Now that we've met, I'll be back.
Patience: You will?
Harry: I couldn't stay away if I tried.
[With help from the evil boys in the basement, Tabitha turns Kay into a female dog.]
Tabitha: I must say you make a very impressive bitch, Kay.
Tabitha: Oh, relax. This isn't permanent. I'll change you back, I promise -- witch's honor.
Tabitha: Just as soon as you kill Charity.
Tabitha: This is for your own protection, Kay. When the authorities find Charity's body with dog bite marks on it, they'll never suspect that a human had anything to do with her death. Plus, it will allow your ridiculous conscience to rest easy, since technically you had nothing to do with committing her murder. So, are you ready? See how considerate I am? Ready? Get ready. One --
Tabitha: Two --
[Kay barks and disappears into the gazing bowl.]
Tabitha: Go kill Charity!
Tabitha: Well, I guess now we know who let the dogs out! Woof, woof!
Charity: I love Miguel with all of my heart. I can't let him go. You have to understand.
Evil Faith: No, Charity, I don't. And just remember, I tried to warn you.
Charity: Mom! Mom, don't leave -- mom, please! [Evil Faith vanishes as dog-Kay arrives on the scene.]
Eve: I wasn't driving the car?
Eve: Because I don't think I could have lived with myself if I thought I'd been behind the wheel.
Julian: It wasn't you. It was me.
Eve: No. No, no, no, Julian, no. It's -- it's too much.
Julian: But we love each other.
Eve: Look what that love has caused.
Julian: Our love created a son, our son.
Eve: Oh, we don't even know where he is.
Julian: We'll find him.
Eve: And now I know that it's because of us that T.C. lost all his dreams.
Julian: No, not because of you. Because of me.
Eve: And Whitney -- she despises me because she thinks that you and I are having an affair.
Julian: But we aren't. You've done nothing wrong.
Eve: I've done everything wrong! I'm a married woman. I have a family. I'm supposed to put them first! I have to put an end to this, Julian, right now, before we hurt anyone else.
Julian: But you'll be hurting yourself. You'll be hurting me.
Eve: Oh, god, Julian, we're just poison together. This relationship, or whatever it is -- it's just -- it's destructive, to us, to everyone around us, and it has to stop. I'm -- I'm never going to see you again.
Julian: You don't mean that!
Eve: Don't make this harder for me than it already is. And you can't call me and you can't try to see me and you can't contact me in any way ever!
Patience: Andrew's coming back!
Harry: The hell with Andrew.
Patience: You have to go. Please!
Harry: All right, for now. I'll be back. You have my word. And my heart. Nothing can ever separate us, my sweet Patience.
Patience: Harry --
Andrew: What are you doing out here?
Patience: Nothing. Nothing at all.
[Luis is moaning in his delusional sleep.]
Luis: I'll be back. I promise.
Luis: Patience --
Sheridan: Who's Patience?
Luis: Sheridan -- Sheridan, we're destined to be together. Our souls are one. Our love is forever.
T.C.: Liz, you think the person driving the car the night of my accident was a woman with Julian?
Liz: What if the person who hit you was a woman Julian was with? What if she caused the accident that destroyed your life and your future?
T.C.: You know what, Liz? You might be right. Maybe it wasn't Julian driving the car that night. Maybe it was the woman driving the car.
Liz: Oh, T.C., just wait till you find out who that woman is.
Julian: You don't mean that.
Eve: Yes. Yes, I do. I can't take it anymore. It's -- it's too much pain, and it's too many ruined lives.
Julian: But I love you.
Eve: Then would you try and respect my wishes, please, and don't contact me and don't try to see me -- not ever, never, ever --
Julian: Eve -- no, please! Please don't do this! Please -- [A devastated Julian tries to get Eve to stay, but she runs out.]
Rebecca: So, it's finally over between you and eve.
Julian: I'm really not in the mood to hear you gloat, Rebecca.
Rebecca: No, no, no, I'm -- I'm not going to. Honest. I've never seen you like this.
Julian: Oh, here comes the zinger.
Rebecca: No. No zingers. Not tonight. Oh, I can't believe I'm saying this, much less really meaning it, but -- ahem -- isn't there anything you can do to get her back?
Julian: The only thing I could do would cause her more pain.
Rebecca: You know, I -- I should hate Eve, but I really don't. Well, no, not completely. Oh, I do envy her, though, because she has your love -- your true, selfless, and unconditional love. Oh, I know I don't have that, Julian. I never have. Probably never will. I -- I made my bed. No, I settled -- I settled for the name and the money. And up until this very moment, I really -- I didn't think it mattered, but now, when I see how much you love her -- nobody has ever, ever loved me that way. I know how -- oh, I wonder how it must feel. Well --
Rebecca: Good night, Julian. We'll save the costumes for another night.
Charity: Mom! I'm sorry I upset you, but I love Miguel. I can't give him up!
Tabitha: I've waited so many years for this moment, and it's finally here. Charity is going to die.
Charity: Mom, please come back. I know if we could just talk a little longer, I could make you understand why I can't leave Miguel. It would tear me apart! Mom? Mom, is that you? Oh, my god --
Antonio: Sheridan, can you hear me? If you're there, call out.
Luis: Don't do it.
Sheridan: Luis, I'm sorry, but -- I have given you a chance, and you still haven't shown me that I'm in love with you.
Luis: I will, ok?
Sheridan: I need to go home. I need to go back to my husband, Antonio.
Luis: No. No, you -- you -- please -- no --
Sheridan: Luis, I'm sorry.
Luis: Sheridan --
Sheridan: Antonio! I'm over here!
Sheridan: I have to worry about this lifetime, not 300 years ago.
NEXT ON PASSIONS:
Patience: It's you again -- Harry.
[Kay growls and barks]
Charity: Mom, please! I don't want to die!
Tabitha: You're going to die, Charity. Nothing can save you now!
