Sam: Ivy. What are you doing out here? I've been looking all over for you.
Ivy: Well, I was just thinking about Pilar and the sacrifice Luis made trying to save her. Have you heard how she's doing?
Sam: Not well. The drug Alistair used his influence to get for Pilar -- it's not working.
Ivy: Poor Pilar. Poor Luis. He traded Alistair's secrets, including how Alistair tried to brainwash Sheridan, to try to save Pilar, and now she might not make it. That's tragic, Sam. He might lose his mother and the woman who holds his heart.
Sam: Luis and Sheridan -- well, they shared a great love.
Ivy: They weren't the only ones.
Sam: Excuse me.
Ivy: Is it word on Pilar?
Sam: No, it's Grace. She sent me a text message.
Ivy: Well, the way your face just lit up -- you still love her, don't you, Sam? I mean, as close as we've become, she's still the only woman in your heart.
Eve: Well, I guess I should go and speak to Pilar's family, and let them know that there's nothing else that I can do for her except to make her comfortable.
Julian: This is all so tragic. Luis gave up any chance he had of being with Sheridan in the hopes of saving his mother, and now Pilar is dying. Luis' decision to return father's C.D.s has stopped us from being able to find our son.
Eve: I don't blame Luis for what he did.
Julian: Nor do I.
Eve: But it is disappointing to have gotten so close just to have it slip through our fingers again.
Julian: You know something, I'm never going to give up. Father can shoot to kill me next time, but I'm going to do everything I can to find our son.
Eve: Well, I'd better go and look after Pilar.
Julian: I think I'm going to stay around the hospital. If -- if Pilar's time comes tonight, I don't want you to be alone.
Eve: Thank you, Julian.
Nurse: Dr. Russell? Your patient -- there's been a terrible mistake.
Eve: Do you mean Pilar?
Father Lonigan: Let us be reminded of our baptismal promise to die with Christ that we may rise to new life with him. May the grace and peace of God, our Father --
Antonio: I wish Paloma were here.
Miguel: I called and left a message, but she hasn't called back yet.
Antonio: I was hoping she'd make it to Harmony before mama -- I know she'd like to see her baby sister one last time.
Girl: Que te veste por esta noche?
Second girl: Yo no se todavia.
Third girl: Yo tampoco pero debemos hacer nuestra tarea primero para que las monjas no nos castigan manana.
First girl: No!
Third girl: Si.
Second girl: Uh-uh.
Third girl: Si.
Woman: Donde esta Paloma?
Girl: Viene detras de las otras, senora.
Man: You're shaking like a leaf.
Woman: I know, and I can't help it. Ever since I got that phone call telling me not to go back to Harmony, it's very unsettling. I mean, how could anybody know that I'm here, much less with you?
Man: Are you sure you didn't doze off, dream that someone called?
Woman: I know I've been very anxious trying to decide about going back to Harmony, but that call was not a dream and I didn't imagine it, either.
Man: Ok. You know, whatever it is, one thing we know for certain is that Paloma got a call from her family in Harmony.
Woman: Yeah. Do we have to tell her?
Man: She has a right to know that something's wrong and that the family wants her to call. We have to give her the message. Hmm?
Woman: Cual mensaje? Who called for me?
Father Lonigan: Lord, we are gathered here in your name. We pray that you may be among us to watch over our sister, Pilar.
Father Lonigan: Through the anointing at this hour, may the Lord, in his love and mercy --
Miguel: Stop thinking about Luis and Sheridan. I already told you Luis went to the chapel to pray for mama.
Antonio: Well, then where's Sheridan?
Sheridan: What Eve said that you did -- trading the proof with my father that -- that he brainwashed me into choosing Antonio over you so that you could save your mother's life, it -- it just made me remember why I first fell in love with you.
Luis: Sheridan, you remember that you love me. You remember that I'm the man that you want to be with.
Sheridan: Luis, I --
Luis: I love you. I love you, too.
Singer: I would hold the hand of the one who could lead me places, and kiss the lips of the one who could sing so sweet, and I, would fly on the wings of the bird, I knew, could take me highest. Breathe in, breathe out. You keep me alive; you are the fire burning inside of me. You are my passion for life.
Sam: Look, Ivy, of course I still have feelings for Grace. She's the mother of our three children. We were married -- or at least I thought we were -- for, what -- over 25 years. I mean, who knew that Grace had a first husband and a son by him? It's not like she tried to keep David and John a secret. Grace had amnesia from that fire in Boston, and David never stopped loving her, and when he saw her again, he fought for her love and he won. And now they're off in Italy together. Look, it's no one's fault, really. It's just the way it is.
Ivy: I didn't mean to sound accusatory about your feelings for Grace. It's just that I can't imagine waxing nostalgic over Julian.
Sam: Your marriage to him was an empty farce. My god, but I loved Grace. I loved our life together, our family. Not that it wasn't hell getting over you, Ivy, because it was. That's why I moved to Boston. The memories of us were everywhere here in Harmony, and it hurt too much, constantly being reminded of losing you.
Ivy: Sam, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I was weak and I let Alistair and my father manipulate me into marrying Julian. But when I found out that I had been used and we'd been kept --
Sam: You came to me the night of your wedding.
Ivy: The night Ethan was conceived.
Sam: And when I woke up the next day and I found that you were gone -- well, it taught me a lesson. I learned that I couldn't hope for the impossible, that I had to enjoy what I could have, and -- and I did. I enjoyed my marriage to Grace. I enjoyed our home, our friends, our life together, and until that day five years ago when I got a call to go to the mansion to investigate reports of gunshots, and I saw you face-to-face again, I did whatever I could to keep our love buried where it couldn't hurt me anymore.
Ivy: Oh, Sam. It was just the opposite for me. I remembered every moment of the time we spent together, and I dreamed -- dreamed of being with you again. And now that Grace is gone, I want to be everything she was to you, everything and more, if you would just tell me how. Just tell me please how to make you love me like you used to.
Liz: T.C., can I make you some coffee, get you something to eat?
T.C.: No, Liz. Just go inside and get some rest. I'm going to my shed.
Liz: T.C., why? To pore over the car that you were driving the night of the accident?
T.C.: Liz, maybe I missed something, some evidence that proves that Julian was driving the car that hit me.
Liz: T.C., you have been over that car a thousand times. What -- what makes you think that you're going to find something tonight that you missed before?
T.C.: Liz, I don't know, but I have to try to find the proof, proof of what happened that night.
Liz: I know what happened that night, but T.C. has such a temper. How can I tell him who's to blame for the accident without him killing me?
Eve: Nurse, what do you mean, a mistake has been made?
Nurse: It's about you, Mr. Crane.
Eve: What about him?
Nurse: Mr. Crane was supposed to receive blood that he donated and kept here for emergency use, but he didn't. This wasn't your blood, Mr. Crane. It was someone else's.
Eve: Oh, my god.
Nurse: It's ok. The blood was safe and it matched Mr. Crane's, but it wasn't his.
Eve: This kind of mistake cannot happen ever again.
Nurse: I'll make sure that everyone involved is reprimanded.
Eve: I want a report on this on my desk first thing in the morning.
Nurse: Yes, Dr. Russell.
Julian: I'll tell you, the main reason I gave blood to be kept here for an emergency is because my blood type is so rare.
Eve: Julian, you know, you're right. Your -- your blood type is so rare that only a close family member or -- or one of your children would have the same type.
Julian: What are you getting at?
Eve: "One of your children." What if the person who donated the blood you received is our son?
Father Lonigan: May the Lord who frees you from sin save you and raise you up.
Father Lonigan: Our Lord, Jesus Christ, you chose to share our human nature to redeem all people and to heal the sick. Look with compassion upon your servant Pilar, whom we have anointed in your name with this holy oil for the healing of her body and spirit. Support her with your power, comfort her with your protection, give her strength to fight against evil.
Pilar: Antonio? Don't be mad at Luis. Forgive him, mijo. Forgive him for loving Sheridan.
Antonio: Mama, I --
Pilar: Please. Please, mijo. Please. I want you all to stay close, to remember that you're blood, that you're all each other has. And Paloma, too. She's been gone from us too long. Please, make sure she knows that. Make sure she knows that always, and that we love her.
Antonio: We will, mama.
Miguel: We promise.
Pilar: Where -- where -- where is Luis?
Miguel: He's in the chapel.
Fox: I'll go get him.
Antonio: Wait a minute. Thanks, Fox, but I'll go.
Luis: Sheridan. My god, I thought that I'd lost you after I had to give Alistair back those damn C.D.s, but then you remembered -- you remembered that you love me. Sheridan, now we can be together. We can be together in this life l like we couldn't in all the other lifetimes!
Sheridan: Luis, slow down!
Luis: Why? You love me, don't you?
Sheridan: Of course I do, but --
Luis: Oh, my god, I love hearing you say that. I love you, too.
Eve: Your blood type is extremely rare. Without getting into the finer points of hematology, sometimes the children of a person with your blood type can inherit the same blood type instead of a mix of both parents.
Julian: What are you doing?
Eve: I'm looking up information on the donor. Now, they won't have his identity, but there will be other information.
Julian: Uh -- such as?
Eve: Gender. It's a male! Julian, this could be our son!
Man: Paloma? Someone called you from Harmony.
Paloma: Harmony? Really?
Woman: They said something was wrong, darling, and for you to call.
Paloma: Who was it? What's wrong?
Man: Well, we don't -- we don't know. The connection was bad.
Paloma: I'll call mama. She'll know.
Pilar's voice: This is Pilar Lopez-Fitzgerald. Por favor, deja un mensaje. Gracias. [Beep]
Paloma: Mama, soy yo, Paloma. I got a message to call Harmony, but you're not there, so call me back. [Paloma hangs up.] I guess. She'll call when she calls. Permiso?
Paloma: I'm going upstairs to change, so let's meet here before we go out.
Girls: Ok, si, si.
Woman: Paloma should be at home in Harmony with both her father and mother.
Man: We did the best we could. Paloma's a fine young girl, hmm?
Woman: A young girl away from her family. I can't help but wonder if this situation hasn't scarred Paloma in some way.
Antonio: Damn it, Luis, don't you ever stop?
Antonio: Leave my wife the hell alone.
Luis: Yeah, well, she won't be your wife for long.
Antonio: What are you talking about?
Luis: Sheridan just told me that she loves me. She remembered that she loves me and I'm the man she wants to be with.
Sheridan: He is telling the truth, Antonio. I did tell him that I love him.
T.C.: You know, Liz, it was very nice of you to do this, considering how I acted earlier. I'm not angry at you. It's just the situation.
Liz: I know. You were hoping that you'd finally have the proof that Julian is responsible for this.
T.C.: Luis took the C.D.s from Alistair. They would've answered all the questions I've had pent up inside of me for the past 25 years, but now I have to wait. I have to wonder and hope that somehow that I will find the truth about what happened that night. And, Liz, I will not rest until I get that proof that Julian stole my dreams.
Liz's inner voice: T.C., You are so fixated on what happened in the past that you don't see what is happening here and now. Julian is stealing your wife.
Julian: Eve, the male donor whose blood type matches mine doesn't have to be our son. It could be Fox.
Julian: Yes, he's been back in Harmony for over a year, and much to my surprise, he does do good deeds on occasion, perhaps like donating blood at the hospital.
Eve: Yeah, well, I guess it's possible. But if Fox didn't --
Eve: Oh -- Pilar is fading fast. I have to get back there.
Antonio: You told him you love him?
Luis: I'm sorry, Antonio. I really am, but Sheridan and I are going to be together from now on.
Antonio: Yeah? Well, not if I can help it.
Sheridan: Oh! Antonio!
Eve: How bad is she?
Nurse: Almost at the end, I'm afraid.
Eve: Oh, god.
Miguel: Please, Dr. Russell. There's got to be something else that you can do.
Eve: Miguel, that experimental drug was our last, best hope. Pilar's blood tests show that it simply isn't working, so there really isn't anything else I can do except to make your mom comfortable until --
Theresa: No. No, this can't be happening. No, it can't be, not -- not to mama.
Sam: Ivy, listen to me. We're not kids anymore, those innocent teenagers who fell in love against all odds.
Ivy: No, no. Life has done too much to us.
Sam: It's Grace. She's sending me another text message.
Ivy: She still loves you, you know. Look at the time on that text message. It's the middle of the night in Italy, and Grace is awake, no doubt thinking of you and regretting that she's lost you.
Sam: Why would you say that?
Ivy: Because I know exactly what Grace is feeling, because I felt the same way all those years ago. Sam, I can't tell you how many times I would wake up in the middle of the night and wander aimlessly around the mansion hating myself for not staying with you on my wedding night to Julian. Sam, I longed for you. I longed to feel your lips on mine, and I know that Grace is feeling the same way. Sam, I was slowly dying inside without you, and I know Grace is, too.
Sam: Do you honestly believe that Grace still loves me?
Ivy: Honestly? I know she still loves you, the same way I still love you. The question is, Sam, who do you love? Grace or me?
Girl: Paloma, estamos listos. Donde estas?
Paloma: Yo voy. Ta-da!
Girls: Whoo-whoo! Whoo!
Paloma: Thank you, thank you. To hell with homework! We're going clubbing tonight!
Paloma: Let's get out of here before anyone sees us.
Girl: Vamonos, vamonos.
Woman: Where are you going?
Sheridan: Look, both of you stop it! Stop fighting! You're in a chapel, for god's sake! Besides, both of you are wrong! All right, yes, I did tell Luis that I love him.
Sheridan: But you misunderstood.
Sheridan: I love you as a brother-in-law. I am awed by the sacrifice that you made for Pilar, trading my father's secrets to save her life.
Antonio: Sheridan, what are you talking about?
Sheridan: Eve told me that Luis had proof of every awful thing that my father and Julian ever did. He had proof that my father brainwashed me, but he traded it all back to my father so that he could get help to get the drug to save your mother's life.
Antonio: He really did that?
Luis: Sheridan, are you saying that you don't want to be with me?
Sheridan: Luis, I'm sorry. I remember the love that we once had, but I just don't feel that way anymore. I love my husband. I love Antonio. We're married and we're going to stay married, and it's as simple as that.
Eve: If there's anything that you want to say to your mom, I think that now would be a good time.
Miguel: Mama, you must be so tired. You've had to be strong for so long.
Theresa: Ever since papa disappeared.
Miguel: We'll never know how hard it was for you. But we'll never forget everything that you did for us. We never felt like we had less than other people. We always felt like we had more -- more love, more happiness, more laughter, more faith. And you gave us so much. You taught us so much. It was only when we forgot those things --
Theresa: Or we didn't listen --
Miguel: That we'd mess up.
Theresa: Mama, we're sorry. We're sorry for everything that we did wrong. It wasn't your fault. It wasn't. It was ours.
Miguel: We hope that you can forgive us for all the upset that we've caused you. You didn't deserve it, not after everything you've done for us.
Theresa: Mama? We love you, mama. And I promise you that I'm going to make sure little Ethan grows up knowing what a wonderful woman his grandmother was.
Miguel: Maria, too. We love you, mama. We'll always keep you close to our hearts.
Ivy: If I had just been stronger, if I had just handled things differently, you never would've met Grace. You never would've fallen in love with her!
Sam: Ivy --
Ivy: No, I am to blame! I'm to blame for all of this!
Sam: Hey, you were always so hard on yourself.
Ivy: Because I love you so much, Sam. Because I still love you so much. And so does Grace. What does her message say?
Sam: She was asking about the Founders' Day Dance, if Kay and Jessica went and if they had fun.
Ivy: No, Sam. She wanted to know if you went to the dance with me.
Sam: You think?
Ivy: Sam, Grace still loves you. She's using the dance to find out if you still love her.
Ivy: If you had changed your mind and stayed home, Grace would think that you were pining away for her, but by actually going to the dance with me, it tells Grace that you're starting to move on.
Sam: Youcould be right.
Ivy: I know how Grace is feeling. I used to wake up in the middle of the night thinking about you -- you know, wondering if you could forgive me and love me again. But there was no text messaging back then, and so I couldn't get an answer, and all I could do was blame myself. Grace is lucky. You can respond to her, and I am absolutely sure she's hoping you will call her so she can hear your voice one more time, because I can't count the times in my marriage that I would've sold my soul to hear your voice one more time.
Ivy: Like right now. I'd sell my soul to hear you say you love me and not Grace.
Luis: Sheridan, put it together, ok? If Eve told you I had proof that you were brainwashed into choosing Antonio over me, then what you feel for him isn't real! You love me!
Antonio: Give it a rest, Luis. Eve didn't see any proof of anything. She's only going off of what you told her. And the love that Sheridan has for me -- that's real. She doesn't love you.
Nurse: Sorry to interrupt. Dr. Russell sent me to get you.
Luis: My mother?
Nurse: She doesn't have long.
Antonio: We should go.
Sheridan: Oh, Pilar.
T.C.: I remember the night just like it was yesterday. I was driving home. It was late, right after practice, right before my big tournament, then all of a sudden out of nowhere, this car just came straight at me. Julian -- Julian was behind that wheel! I know he was!
Liz: You're wrong, T.C. Julian wasn't driving that night, but when you find out who was, you are going to wish he had been.
Fox: You ok?
Julian: Yeah. I was just remembering when my mother died -- your grandmother Katherine -- my sister and I were as heartbroken as Theresa and Miguel are now. Fox? Have you recently donated blood at this hospital?
Fox: Why? Where'd that come from?
Julian: I was just -- I was thinking of Pilar's blood disease, and I just remembered that I must donate.
Fox: Yeah -- um -- no, no, I haven't since I've been back. I guess I should.
Julian: Yes, well, see that you -- see that you do. Everyone who's able to should. Perhaps I should leave. [
Fox: Everything my father said about donating blood makes sense, except for the fact that he said it.
Eve: Excuse me, please.
Eve: Oh, poor Pilar. I was so hoping that experimental drug would save her, but it isn't. She's going to die and there is nothing I can do to stop it.
Julian: You did everything you could.
Eve: I know. Miguel and Theresa are in such agony. And Luis and Antonio will be, too. Oh, if she could only live long enough to see Paloma again, but she won't. I hope we don't die before we see our son.
Luis: Mama? Is she --
Miguel: She's ok for now.
Ivy: Stop torturing yourself, Sam. Just get in touch with Grace.
Sam: Ivy, Ivy, listen -- don't leave, ok? Let me just answer Grace and then we'll talk.
Ivy: No. No, you just talk to Grace. I had my chance with you twice, and I've lost you both times. You and I aren't meant to be together. You and Grace -- you are.
Sam: Ivy, Ivy -- wait!
Ivy: No, I have to go! I really -- I need to go!
T.C.: It is just so damn frustrating not having the proof that Julian was driving the car that hit me!
Liz's inner voice: Well, I have the proof, T.C., but it's not the proof you want. The proof I have will wreck your marriage to Eve, so all I have to do now is find a way to get the proof to you without having my fingerprints all over it.
Paloma: Where -- where am I going?
Paloma: Out with my girlfriends.
Man: Not dressed like that.
Paloma: Why not? My friends are dressed just like I am.
Woman: Even so, your Aunt Maria will not approve.
Paloma: Look, I appreciate your concern, but you're not my parents, and Tia Maria isn't here.
Man: We care about you very much.
Paloma: I know, I know, and I care about you, too. Both of you have always been wonderful to me, like a tia and tio consentidos. I value your opinions and your advice, but that doesn't mean I'll always take them. Like now -- I'm going out with my friends and I'm going dressed like this.
Woman: Paloma, wait. Shouldn't you call your family again?
Man: Yeah, if something's wrong, don't you want to know what it is?
Paloma: No, not really. My family sent me thousands of miles away to live here in Mexico with Tia Maria. Why should I give a damn what's happening back in Harmony?
Julian: Do you really think that we can track down our son based on his donating blood?
Eve: Well, all we have to do is get the names of male blood donors with your blood type who are 20-something, and one of those men will be our son. I mean, he has to be.
Whitney: Oh, baby, you dropped something. Hey, I didn't know you were a blood donor.
Chad: Oh, yeah, yeah. I give blood here at the hospital every few months. Everyone who can should.
Whitney: You know, I wonder if maybe a massive blood transfusion could've helped Theresa's mother.
Sheridan: Hey. Look. Now is not the time to be angry at Luis, ok? Just let it go.
Antonio: Well, you know what? I'm sick and tired of him trying to make the moves on you. In fact, I'm going to make sure he never gets a chance to get close to you again.
Sheridan: What, are you planning on killing him?
Miguel: We're sorry, Luis. We know you had to give up your chance to be with Sheridan when you gave Alistair those C.D.s.
Luis: It just looks like now I'm going to lose them both.
Miguel: Oh, my god.
Theresa: She -- she's gone.
Theresa: She's gone. Mama? Please -- mama?
Woman: It's just all coming back to us, and I have this very strong feeling that we're going to have to face what we've done.
NEXT ON PASSIONS:
Ivy: What do you want, Sam?
Miguel: Please tell us what's going on.
Theresa: She's dead, isn't she, Dr. Russell?
