Whitney: You know, I came here tonight with liz to try to clear my head of everything and feel better, but instead everything has j gotten much worse.
Chad: Things will turn around, I promise.
Whitney: How? My mother is furious with me. And she went through the roof when she saw me up on that stage tonight singing.
Eve: Stop! Stop the music! Stop it! Stop! Stop!Ob
chad: Dr. Russell, what are you --
Eve: What are you doing? You stop it!
Chad: I mean, she really lost it. But what does your mother have against singing, anyway?
Whitney: Look, I have no idea. And, of course, on top of that, my father went crazy when he saw us together tonight.
Chad: He's just going to have to accept the fact that we're in love. And both of your parents are going to have to accept the fact that you're going to be a singer.
Whitney: I don't think theye e ever going to accept that. This is just a nightmare. I mean, I just want us to be together, to be happy. Is that too much to ask?
Liz: Well, she's not in the ladies' room, T.C.
T.C.: Well, what happened to her?
Liz: I think I might have an idea where she went.
T.C.: You do? Where?
Liz: Follow me.
Eve: I'm just so worried about whitney.
Julian: I know you are, eve.
Eve: You know, I'm afraid that my whole family's falling apart, and it's all because of me.
Eve: Yes. Because of my past.
Julian: Listen to me, it's all going to be ok. You're a fantastic mother and wife. You can't blame yourself. Come here.
Julian: Dear god.
Luis: Struck out, too, huh?
Hank: I still don't think she's far from here.
Antonio: Sheridan, are you ok?
Sheridan: Yeah, just a little cold.
Antonio: Come on, let's get you someplace warm, get you something warm to drink. How's that?
Hank: The book cafe's right around the corner.
Antonio: All right, let's go.
Luis: Antonio, look, there's something that I need to --
beth: Luis? Luis? Um, would you mind helping me get mother home before you go?
Luis: No, of course not. I'll just take you home, and then I'll hook up with you guys at the book cafe.
Antonio: Ok, we'll see you in just a little while.
Mrs. Wallace: Luis, honey, you know, why don't you go ahead and go with the others. Beth and I can manage.
Beth: No. I mean, you and the walker are just a lot to handle, mother.
Mrs. Wallace: Hmm.
Luis: Oh, don't worry, it's no trouble at all, mrs. Wallace, come on.
Mrs. Wallace: Very well. Thank you, honey.
Antonio: You'll feel better in a minute. Come on in here, sit down, try to relax.
Hank: You've been through hell tonight.
Sheridan: I keep seeing that woman coming at me with the letter-opener.
Hank: Hey, don't worry, we're going to find her.
Antonio: That's right, we are. Sheridan, I love you. You are my life. And I told you, if anyone ever tried to hurt you or take you away from me, I'd kill them. I mean it. I would never let anyone take you away from me, ever.
Beth: Ugh! Oh, no, my -- my baby. Oh, no! My baby! Oh!
Singer: I would hold the hand of the one who could lead me places and kiss the lips of the one who could sing so sweet and i would fly on the wings of the bird I knew could take me highest breathe in, breathe out you keep me alive you are the fire burning inside of me you are my passion for life for a limited time, there's agreat offer at lenscrafters
luis: What baby? Beth, what are you talking about?
Beth: Oh, I -- oh. I don't know what I said. With the fall and all, I -- I don't know. I was just talking.
Luis: But you did say something about having a baby.
Luis: Beth -- come on, talk to me here. I know what I heard. You said something about "my baby." What's going on?
Beth: No, um, nothing, luis.
Luis: Beth, come on. Come on.
Beth: Really, don't worry about me. You've got enough going on.
Luis: But I do worry about you, ok? Now, come on, I care about you.
Mrs. Wallace's voice: Oh, she is going into martyr mode. What is that wicked girl up to?
Luis: Tell me the truth here, beth. Are -- are you pregnant? The truth?
Beth: Yeah. I'm pregnant, luis. I'm -- I'm having a baby.
Antonio: I wish there was something I could do to help you through this.
Sheridan: I'll -- I'll be all right.
Antonio: Yes, you will, because I'll make sure of that. I know you've been having those nightmares, and who wouldn't with someone out there trying to kill you. But I feel like there's something else going on.
Sheridan: Something else?
Antonio: Yeah, something that's adding a lot of pressure to you. I know that you and luis have something that you want to tell me, but every time you get ready to tell me, something comes up, it doesn't end up happening. That makes me worry about you, sheridan. It's just putting way too much pressure on you, and it has to end. I'm just hoping that when you and luis tell me whatever it is you need to that it'll take that pressure off of you. I just don't want to see you in pain like this. I'll get you something to drink. Hank, do you want some coffee?
Antonio: I'll be back in a sec.
Sheridan: Oh, hank.
Hank: I know.
Sheridan: I mean, what luis and I have to tell antonio, it might relieve the pressure that I'm under, but it's going to destroy him, and I don't want to hurt antonio.
Hank: Of course not.
Sheridan: I need to be with luis and I need to be with him all the time.
Hank: I understand.
Sheridan: I love him so much, hank.
Fox: Father. Dr. Russell. What's going on here?
Fox: Well, father?
T.C.: Do you really think eve went outside to get some air?
Liz: Well, I can't be too sure, but it doesn't hurt to check. The door's that way.
Luis: So you're having a baby.
Beth: Oh, god, I never should've said anything.
Beth: I -- I didn't want you to know.
Mrs. Wallace: Sure you didn'T.
Beth: I know what kind of pressure you're under, and I didn't want to add to it, what, with sheridan being pregnant, possibly with your baby. The last thing that I ever wanted was for you to find out that -- that I was carrying your child.
Luis: My child?
Beth: You're the only man I've ever been with, luis. There's never been anyone else. This baby is yours. Yours. No question.
Mrs. Wallace: I have lots of questions.
Luis: I -- I don't know what to say.
Beth: No, you don't have to say anything. And I don't want you worrying or feeling like you're under any obligation.
Mrs. Wallace: You are a wicked, wicked girl.
Beth: And I don't expect you to do anything. I just -- I want you to forget that I ever told you.
Luis: Beth, come on, I mean, how can I forget?
Beth: Really, it's ok. Believe me, I don't want to make things harder on you. That's why I never planned on telling you. I don't want to cause you more problems, and I still don'T.
Luis: So this is what you were hiding. I mean, I knew it was something, but I had no idea. No idea it was something like this.
Mrs. Wallace: You are an evil girl, beth -- evil.
Chad: There you go.
Whitney: Thank you.
Chad: Now, is there anything else I can get for you, do for you? I'd really love to see you smile.
Whitney: I sure wish that I had a reason to smile.
Chad: You will. You'll have a million reasons to smile, I promise.
Whitney: I just wonder when that's going tbebe.
Chad: Just hang in there. Things are going to get better soon.
Whitney: Right now I don't think things are ever going to get any better. My whole family is furious with me. Simone hates me because she thinks that I stole you away from her, and daddy, he's dead set against us being together at all. And mom, she's even more upset at the idea of my singing than anything else.
Chad: Whitney, I know this isn't easy, all right, but you got to stand up for yourself. Let your parents know what you want.
Whitney: I'm not sure I can do that anymore.
Chad: Just think about how happy you were singing tonight. I mean, you were so alive up there on stage. That is where you belong.
Whitney: It did feel really good.
Chad: Because you were doing something you love to do. Singing is your dream. It's what you want, what you need.
Whitney: Yeah. It is.
Chad: Then come to L.A. With me. You can sing and I'll write and produce the music. We'll be a team. You and I have a real future together, not just in music but as a couple in love. So come with me. Please?
Liz: Oh, eve. Once T.C. Catches you with julian, you can kiss your perfect little life goodbye.
Eve: Oh, god, it's T.C.
T.C.: Eve, what are you doing out here?
T.C.: I asked you, what are you doing out here and who are you out here with?
Fox: Wasn't it obvious who she's out here with? Ing! Ring!]
sheridan: I just can't bear the thought of hurting antonio.
Hank: I don't think there's any way to avoid it. You're not alone in this. Luis is with you. He's right by your side, and you know you can always count me.
Sheridan: Thank you, hank. I just know it's going to kill luis to hurt antonio.
Hank: Well, maybe you should stop worrying about everybody else and start thinking about yourself and your baby, what this is doing to you.
Sheridan: Right. My baby. And I keep trying to stay calm, but things just keep getting worse. Every time I try to tell antonio about luis and me, he just turns around and tells me how much he loves me. I feel awful. But then I look at luis and I see what I'm putting him through and --
hank: And it's worse for you. I know. I see it.
Sheridan: You know, luis is right. Enough is enough. We have to tell antonio the truth. The longer we keep putting this off, the worse it's going to be. It's just going to be so incredibly hurtful for antonio to find out that I'm l love with his brother. And what makes it worse is that this child I'm carrying might be luis'. I can't even imagine how painful it would be to find out the person you love is carrying another man's baby or fathered another woman's child.
Luis: Wow. You're carrying my child.
Beth: Oh, I've upset you.
Luis: No, 's's just that --
beth: No, I feel terrible, ok? I never wanted to do that.
Luis: Beth, come on. You got no reason to apologize, all right? I just feel bad that you felt like you couldn't come to me and tell me that you were pregnant.
Beth: But I didn't want to be a burden to you, luis, and I still don'T. I'll be ok.
Mrs. Wallace: Playing it to the hilt.
Luis: Hey, you're not going to go through this alone, all right? I promise you that. I'll be here for you.
Beth: Oh, luis --
luis: Hey, I'll never abandon you. Look, we should go somewhere and talk this through, ok?
Beth: Ok. Whatever you want.
Mrs. Wallace: "Whatever you want."
Luis: Wait a second. Um --
beth: What's wrong?
Luis: Well, I don't want to risk you falling again, so you stay here with your mother. I'm going to go get the car. I'll be right back, ok? All right.
Mrs. Wallace: And the oscar goes to ms. Beth wallace, my wicked, wicked daughter.
Beth: Did you say something, mother?
Mrs. Wallace: You should be ashamed of yourself, playing the martyr like that.
Beth: Do I look ashamed, mother?
Mrs. Wallace: You aren't going to have a baby. You are lying.
Beth: Of course I'm lying. What, did you really think that I was pregnant?
Mrs. Wallace: For a moment. You almost had me. I almost believed you. See, but then -- then I started to wonder when you went over the top with the selfless routine.
Beth: Oh, over the top? I'm insulted.
Mrs. Wallace: You should be. I cannot believe -- i cannot believe that you would be crazy enough to lie about something like this.
Beth: You call it crazy, I call it clever.
Mrs. Wallace: To lie about being pregnant?
Beth: Mm-hmm. It's all part of my plan to get luis. It's going to work, trust me. Luis is going to be mine.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh, you -- ugh.
Chad: All you have to do is pack your bags. I mean, hell, you don't even have to do that. Just get on that plane. I'll get you all new stuff when you get to L.A. You're not saying anything.
Whitney: Because I can't think, ok? My head is all over the place with all this stuff.
Chad: Baby, just focus on one thing -- singing. It's simple enough, isn't it?
Chad: It's going to be so great out there for us. We'll both be pursuing our dreams. And we'll do it. We'll blow that town wide open. And best of all, we'll be together. No having to sneak around. We'll be ourselves, not having to answer to anyone. All you have to do is get on that plane. What do you say?
Whitney: I want to.
Chad: Then do it.
Whitney: Baby, I can'T.
Chad: Of course you can.
Whitney: Please, just try and understand, ok? Let's just do what my parents have asked. All right? I'll stay here for six months -- that's it -- and then after that, I can come join you in L.A., All right?
Chad: Whitney, I'm saying this because I love you, but at some point, hopefully sooner than later -- but at some point, you're going to have decide whether you're your parents' little girl or the woman that loves me.
Whitney: I know. I know.
Fox: Well, isn't it obvious who dr. Russell's out here with? I mean, I'm the only other one in this alley. She's -- she's out here with me.
Fox: Well, I saw how upset she was inside, you know, and I saw her come out here. And so I just thought I'd come out and make sure she was ok.
Eve: That's right, honey, I had to get some air, clear my head. And I came out, and fox came out to see if I was ok. And I was just about to go back in again when you came out and just gave me the surprise of my life. What are you doing he?E?
T.C.: Well, liz had called me and told me that you and whitney were here.
Eve: Oh, liz called.
T.C.: Yeah, liz saw what was going on and thought I could come by and help out. You know what, we are so lucky to have liz as a friend.
Eve: Yes. Lucky.
Liz: You know, it's awfully dark out here. Are you sure that no one else is here? óç8pç
The W.H.O. Saves 3 million lives a year. But has their travel advisory put toronto's economy on life support? They changed the world. What does it take to change their mind? Tonight's global national.
Singer: You are my passion for life
antonio: Hey, play this song next, will you?
Bartender: Yeah, you got it.
Hank: I don't figure anything could be harder, not only for you but for luis, too.
Sheridan: He's in agony over this.
Hank: Well, it's got to be done. Antonio has to know the truth.
Sheridan: You know, this should be the happiest time of my life. I'm pregnant. I'm having the man that I love's baby. I just feel like my whole world is crashing around me. Why does my love for luis have to cause so much pain for someone as wonderful as antonio?
Hank: I wish I had the answer.
Sheridan: I just wish so many things. I especially wish -- no, I pray that antonio can take the news about luis and me as well as beth has. You know, she's just been so supportive. She really wants luis and me to be happy.
Sheridan: Oh, god.
Antonio: There you go.
Antonio: Sheridan, what's wrong? It's not the song, is it? Look, I was just trying to take your mind off things, you know, help you focus on this baby you're having with the man you love.
Hank: She's just really exhausted, antonio. She needs a real rest.
Sheridan: I'll be all right. Don't worry about me.
Antonio: All right. What could be keeping luis and beth?
Hank: Yeah, they said that they were just going to drop off mrs. Wallace and come right back.
Antonio: Maybe that crazy lady came back.
Hank: You know, I think I'm going to check on them.
Antonio: I'd go with you, but you know what, I'm going to stay here with sheridan.
Sheridan: No, no, no, I'll go with you.
Antonio: No. Are you sure?
Sheridan: Yeah, I'm positive. I feel fine now.
Antonio: You didn't even drink your tea.
Sheridan: Yeah, I'm fine. I really want to go.
Mrs. Wallace: Lying to luis, making him believe that you are pregnant with his baby when you are not. What kind of person does that, bethy?
Beth: A smart one?
Mrs. Wallace: An evil person, that's who!
Beth: Weren't you looking at him? Didn'touou see his face? Luis can't do enough for me.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh, luis. He is a good, decent man, and you're taking advantage of him!
Beth: You bet I am. I knew how he'd react. I knew he would do this. I can't tell you how many times luis has talked about fatherhood and how seriously he would take his responsibility. Luis feels an obligation to me, mother, to my unborn child. A very strong obligation.
Mrs. Wallace: Don't you count on it.
Beth: Oh, but I am. That's what this is all about -- me knowing my man, his character, how he'd react, and I nailed this one. He will never walk out on me, never walk out on his baby because he has to do the right thing, be a good father. That's just too important to him.
Mrs. Wallace: Once he finds out that you are lying, he is going to do more than just walk out on you!
Beth: Well, he's not going to find out!
Mrs. Wallace: Oh? Oh, really?
[Mrs. Wallace cackles]
Mrs. Wallace: See, not only are you evil, but you're crackers! Whoo! See, because luis will find out because you are not pregnant. You are not carrying his baby! And one of these days, little missy, he's actually going to expect you to give birth to this nonexistent baby! What are you going to do then, huh?
Beth: Well, don't you worry about it.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh, me? No, no, I'm not worried at all. I'm just wondering what you're going to do. I mean, you know, precious may wear diapers, but I doubt that even she will pass for a human baby.
Beth: Oh, yeah, you just keep the jokes coming, mother.
Mrs. Wallace: All you're going to do is keep digging yourself into a deeper hole which you are not going to get out of, and that is no joke because all your lies, missy, all your lies are going to catch up with you.
Beth: Nono, they won'T. I have a plan.
Mrs. Wallace: Yeah, a plan to get yourself committed to a loony bin! That's your plan.
Beth: No, luis and I will be together.
[Mrs. Wallace scoffs]
Mrs. Wallace: Really? And what about sheridan, huh? Luis not only has an obligation to sheridan and their baby, but he actually loves her.
She is the one that he wants to marry and be with forever, not you!
Beth: Don't you worry about sheridan because she won't be a concern much longer. In fact, she's going to be out of our lives very soon. She's going to be gone forever.
Liz: Isn't it possible that someone else could be out here? After all, it is so very dark out here.
Fox: Don'T. You know what, be careful, careful. I think I saw a bit rat -- fangs and nasty. Come on.
Eve: Oh, honey, we'd better go in and get whitney and go home.
T.C.: Yeah, that's a good idea.
Liz: Oh, this is so typical of you cranes, covering for each other.
Fox: Hey, look, lady, I haven't a clue what's going on here, ok? I was just trying to prevent something nasty from going on, that's all.
Julian: There's nothing going on.
Fox: You know what, don't give me that. Hey, I got a gut feeling that some pretty big secrets are being kept, not only from me but from T.C. And whitney as well. Care to enlighten me?
Liz: Go ahead, julian. Enlighten him.
Fox: Well, father?
Julian: Forget what you saw out here.
Julian: Erase it from your mind.
Fox: Well, that's going to be kind of difficult to do. I mean, the image has left quite an impression -- the upstanding dr. Russell, who despises our family, in your arms?
Julian: Listen, I was comforting a woman who was upset about her daughter. Leave it at that.
Fox: Yeah, you know what, you never comfort anyone unless you can get something in return.
Julian: This conversation is over.
Fox: Well, well, well. Looks like I finally got something on daddy. W? So, it was called cattle point. Of the nation, and subsequentlyne of th here. Your crue e director, ron
T.C.: Come on, whitney, let's go. We're leaving now, together.
Whitney: Daddy, please.
T.C.: Whitney, we have already been through this. Chad is going back to california. You are going to rededicate yourself back to tennis.
T.C.: That's right. Come on, whitney, we're going to talk about this in the morning when we both have calmed down.
Chad: Whoa, whoa, dr. Russell, coach russell --
T.C.: This is a family matter!
Chad: Whitney didn't do anything wrong.
T.C.: You know what -- I do not appreciate my daughter spending the night in a nightclub.
Whitney: Daddy, I told you I came here with liz. I had no idea that chad was going to be here. Mom, please.
Eve: Honey, honey, your father and I agree on this. I don't want you hanging around in jazz clubs. I want our family to get back to normal and get our lives back on track.
Chad: That's not going to be as easy as you may think.
Eve: What do you mean, chad?
Chad: Whether you admit it or not, whitney's an adult. She's a woman who can make her own decisions.
T.C.: God, I'm going to --
eve: No, T.C., We're leaving now -- the three of us, whitney -- and we'll just deal with this later.
Julian: Don't even think about it.
Julian: Whitney is a nice girl. Don't pull your playboy number on her.
Fox: My, my, my. I am certainly seeing a different side of you tonight, father. First you're protective of dr. Russell, and now her daughter? What other secrets are you hiding? Don't worry, I'll find out.
Mrs. Wallace: Don't tell me you are still planning to kill sheridan.
Beth: Ok, I won't tell you.
Mrs. Wallace: But you and charlie were almost caught tonight!
Beth: Almost only counts in horseshoes or something. Anyway, don't worry about sheridan because I have got a better plan for her.
Mrs. Wallace: Better plan? What, what, what?
Beth: It's brilliant, so incredibly brilliant that nothing can go wrong. Luis is going to be mine.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh. So you think your new best friend is going to go along with this brilliant plan, huh? I wouldn't be so sure about that, uh-uh. Not, of course, unless it involves dismembering sheridan like one of her blondie dolls. Let me tell you something -- charlie may be unconscious now, but she's going to come to, and when she does, she's going to head right out after sheridan. And you know why? Because she's nuts and hellbent on killing sheridan, thanks to you.
Beth: I can handle charlie.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh, she's going to take a lot more than handling. And you -- you are going to get caught in yet another lie!
Beth: No, I won'T.
Mrs. Wallace: Yes, you will. And just wait, wait, wt till charlie finds out that you are pregnant.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh, yeah, right. Duh. I don't think she's going to like the idea of you being preggers with a man's baby. I think she's going to see that as a betrayal, not take it too kindly.
Beth: Ok, I know what I'm doing, mother.
Mrs. Wallace: Yeah, but do you know what charlie is going to do?
Beth: Damn it, mother, my plan is going to work!
Mrs. Wallace: Tsk, tsk, tsk. I hate it when you use such bad language.
Beth: Nothing is going to stop me this time!
[Mrs. Wallace chuckles]
Luis: You all set?
Mrs. Wallace: I am.
Luis: Pulled the car around as close as I could. Come on, let me help you.
Beth: Uh, no. Luis -- I really appreciate all that you're doing. I mean, you're a wonderful man. But I can't put you through this, not with everything else that you're having to deal with.
Luis: Beth --
beth: No. I've thought about this. I've made a decision. I know what I have to do. I can't have this baby.
Beth: I'm -- I'm going to he e an abortion.
liz: What are you drinking, julian?
Julian: This night just keeps going from bad to worse.
Liz: From the looks of it, seems to be a double.
Julian: You're a keenly perceptive woman, liz.
Liz: And you are a man who just had a very close call.
Julian: Could we dispense with this conversation?
Liz: Ones that will keep getting closer.
Julian: If you insist on talking, at least make sense.
Liz: One day, T.C. Is going to realize what secrets that you and my sister share. And when that happens, both of you will be all done. My sister is going to see her perfect little life go up in flames.
Julian: It's strange how your face lights up at the thought of her misery.
Liz: It's not strange at all.
Julian: Yeah, right. It's rather sick.
Liz: Eve has caused me more misery than you can imagine.
Julian: And the idea of getting your revenge thrills you.
Liz: To no end.
Julian: What a sad, empty life you live, to get pleasure out of inflicting pain.
Liz: You cranes wrote the book on that, julian. And for you to try and stake out some high moral ground when it comes to eve -- it's downright laughable. You are responsiblfofor all the deep, dark, sordid secrets my sister is keeping. Because when she goes down, it's going to be all because of you.
Fox: Looks like things didn't pan out too well for you tonight, huh?
Chad: Yeah, and she can't say no to them -- at least not yet. You know, when it comes to%her family, man, I just can't win.
Fox: Yeah, well, you know, T.C. Can be a difficult man.
Chad: He's a pigheaded son of a --
fox: No. Toell you the truth, though, that pretty much sums him up, huh?
Chad: Huh. I do want to thank you, though.
Fox: Thank me? For what
chad: You really tried to help out tonight and I appreciate it.
Fox: Anytime. You know, I'd like to be a real friend to you, chad.
Fox: All right. And to whitney.
Luis: An abortion?
Beth: My being pregnant, having your baby, it would only complicate things with you and sheridan, and I never wanted to do that. I don't want to make your life any more confused than it already is. I just -- I can't go through with this pregnancy.
Luis: Beth -- come on, you've always been against abortion.
Beth: Yeah, but --
luis: I know how desperately you want children. I mean, we've talked about it.
Beth: I don't want to end this pgngnancy. I would love nothing more than to have a baby -- your baby. But what else can I do? How can I have a child, be a single mom? I don't even have health insurance. I work full-time at the book cafe. I wouldn't have anyone to leave the baby with. I still have to take care of my mother. And I know that you still want to be with sheridan. You'll be busy with her and your baby. I could just, you know, never tear you from them. I couldn'T. Oh, luis, I -- I don't want to do this.
Beth: I love this baby, your baby. We made it together, and it's ours. This child that I'm carrying is a symbol of our love.
Beth: It's true, sheridan -- I'm having luis' baby.
Alistair: Put eve russell out of your mind or else.
Eve: He's out there somewhere. I think my baby's still alive.
