Passions Transcript Thursday 10/3/02--Canada; Friday 10/4/02--USA
Theresa: My first day at crane industries. Mommy's a vice president. I don't know of what yet, but I do know what my first job is going to be -- to reinstate Ethan into the family and to have him working here with me. We'll be close again, and he'll realize that I am the one that he loves. And then we'll be married and we're all going to be one happy family. Oh, baby, everything's going to be wonderful.
[Knock on door]
Woman: Good morning, Mrs. Crane. I'm Trish, your administrative assistant.
Theresa: Oh. Hello.
Trish: Would you like to go over my duties?
Trish: What you expect of me.
Theresa: No, that's all right. I'm just going to grab a cup of coffee.
Trish: Oh, I'll get it.
Theresa: Oh, no, I can -- I can get it.
Trish: That's part of my job. How do you take it?
Theresa: Black with one sugar.
Trish: I'll be right back. Oh, I forgot -- the person who used to have this office still has some drawers to clear out, but most everything else is empty.
Theresa: All right.
Trish: I'll get that coffee.
Theresa: I could definitely get used to this. And so could Ethan. We always did make a good team. And I don't care what Gwen says -- Ethan loves me, not her.
Gwen: Thank you for lunch, Ethan. It was really lovely.
Ethan: You're welcome. I enjoyed it, too.
Gwen: Did you?
Ethan: Why? Would you think I wouldn't?
Gwen: I just thought you would prefer to have lunch with Theresa so that you could celebrate her completion of her first assignment at crane industries.
Ethan: No. No, I'm happy for Theresa, but I already invited you to lunch.
Gwen: And you're a man who always honors his commitments.
Ethan: No, I'm a man who wants to spend time with a beautiful woman -- you.
Gwen: Thank you, Ethan.
Ethan: It's my pleasure. It's always my pleasure.
Simone: I love this song, Chad. I mean, you could tell that it was written with so much love and sung with so much love. I mean, it's amazing.
Chad: No, it's old news, Simone, past its time.
Chad: It's not going to find an audience now. It's dead. When I listen to this now, I realize it was just a waste of time. A complete and total waste of time. It's over, finished -- for good.
Liz: Are you ok?
Whitney: Um -- yeah. I should get going, though.
Liz: Well, it was nice meeting you.
Whitney: You, too.
Simone: Where's Whitney going?
Chad: I wouldn't know.
Sheridan: Well, as soon as Antonio and I finish lunch, I can have him bring me to the book cafe and you can meet us there.
Luis: Good. It can't be too soon for me. I love you so much.
Sheridan: I love you, too. Bye.
Luis: All right, I'm going to take off. I'm going to go over to the book cafe, meet up with Sheridan and Antonio after they finish their lunch.
Beth: Ok. Could you give me a ride? I'm working, and my car's giving me a little trouble.
Mrs. Wallace: Gee. Gee, it was just fine earlier, bethy.
Beth: No. It wasn't, mother. I told you. You must be tired. That's why you're confused again. Now, you need to go take a little nap, and I'll see you later. All right? Bye-bye.
Luis: I'll see you later, Mrs. Wallace.
Mrs. Wallace: Bye-bye, cutie.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh, damn that girl.
Antonio: Hey. So, are you ready for dessert?
Sheridan: Sure. Why not?
Antonio: All right, because I want you to know that the chef has prepared something very special for us.
Sheridan: Really? What are we having?
Sheridan: What's this?
Antonio: This is our wedding cake.
Sheridan: Our what?
Antonio: Our wedding cake. You and I are getting married today. See, I had the whole thing arranged. I wanted to surprise you.
Sheridan: You what?
Antonio: Yes, Sheridan, I love you with all my heart and I cannot wait to be married to you. So today you and I are going to get married. Isn't it wonderful?
Singer: I would hold the hand of the one who could lead me places and kiss the lips of the one who could sing so sweet and I would fly on the wings of the bird I knew could take me highest breathe in, breathe out you keep me alive you are the fire burning inside of me you are my passion for life
Liz: May I have a cup of coffee?
Liz: You know, that song you were playing a little while ago was very pretty.
Chad: Yeah, I used to think so. But not anymore.
Liz: No? Why not?
Chad: It just doesn't do it for me. It's history.
Simone: Just because you produced it a long time ago doesn't mean that it still isn't good, Chad.
Chad: I need to do some things in the storeroom.
Simone: Ok, hurry back.
Liz: You really like that guy, huh?
Simone: Hmm. I am crazy about him and he loves me.
Luis: Hey, aren't you --
Luis: Yeah, that's right. I remember.
Luis: I'm just so shocked to see you in harmony. Oh, sorry -- Beth, this is Liz. She owns the hotel I stayed at on st. Lisaís.
Beth: Oh, of course. Nice to see you. Excuse me. I've got to go check something in the office, ok?
Luis: Well, what are you doing in harmony?
Liz: Actually, I'm looking for your brother and Diana.
Luis: What? Well, how do you know Antonio?
Liz: Oh, I'm sorry. I -- I thought your brother was Brian
Luis: No, it's Antonio. Brian is his middle name, but we always called him Antonio. Well, so, how do you know him?
Liz: Well, he lived at my hotel on st. Lisaís. He did some work for me, and so did Diana.
Liz: Yeah, she waitressed at the hotel and lived there, too.
Luis: Oh, my God, so they were there the whole time I was there, and I didn't even know it.
Liz: You know, Diana called me and asked me to come to harmony. She sounded really urgent. I really would like to find them. Do you know where they are?
Luis: Yeah. Yeah, I know where they are.
Luis: But, look, you know what? There -- there are some things that you should know first.
Antonio: Ok, so it's premature to have the cake before we say our vows, but you know what? Why stand on ceremony, right? So come on, open up.
Sheridan: No, no, I --
Antonio: Come on, this is a low-cal cake here -- only 2,000 calories a bite. Try it.
Sheridan: In that case -- mmm.
Antonio: And the cake isn't the last thing. Wait till you see what else I've got planned today.
Sheridan: Antonio --
Antonio: No. Listen, Sheridan, I could not wait to make you my wife. I hope you don't mind surprises.
Sheridan: I can't do this.
Theresa: Hmm. Things are going to work out just like I planned.
Ethan: You see, little Ethan? I told you we'd find mommy here.
Theresa: There are my guys.
Ethan: Well, I was going to work at home today, but this little guy and I -- we just started missing you so much that we just couldn't stay away.
Theresa: Well, you have no idea how much I missed you guys, too.
Ethan: Here you go.
Theresa: Let me see. Oh, my beautiful, beautiful boy.
Ethan: Theresa, I can't thank you enough for putting me back at the helm of crane industries.
Theresa: Well, Ethan, I don't want your thanks. This is where you belong.
Ethan: Still, there is something that I wanted to bring you, and I should have done it a long time ago. I don't know why I didnít.
Theresa: Done what?
Theresa: Oh, Ethan --
Ethan: Theresa, will you be my wife? Will you marry me?
Theresa: Yes. Of course I will. Oh, my. I love you so much.
Theresa: It's only a matter of time before Ethan proposes to me.
Gwen: You know what? The crystal on my watch is broken. I'm going to take it to the jewelry store so they can fix it. Do you want to walk me? Do you have time?
Ethan: Sure. Sure. You know, this time of year -- it always reminds me of when we were back in college. The smells and the nip in the air. It seems so long ago. I thought we'd be married by now.
Gwen: Well, we would be if I had said yes when you asked me. Instead, I worried about why you were asking me. Yeah, but that doesn't matter. I said no, and it was probably the biggest mistake of my life. You know, to worry about the perfect time to get married -- it's just crazy. So many things can get in the way. If two people really love each other, they should just do it.
Ethan: Come here. I know the last three years have been tumultuous for both of us.
Gwen: Yes. At times, they've been a nightmare.
Ethan: Well, no more. Those times are behind us. From now on, you and I are going to be happy.
Luis: So, Antonio and the woman that you know as Diana have come back to harmony to live.
Liz: Yeah, I know that.
Luis: Well, did you know that she got her memory back?
Liz: No. She did?
Liz: Well, that's great. Our Diana finally knows who she is.
Liz: So, what's her real name?
Luis: Sheridan crane.
Liz: Of the cranes?
Luis: Alistair is her father.
Liz: Oh, my God. But wait a minute. How is that possible? I mean, not that doc and I didn't have our suspicions, but when we checked, we were told that Sheridan crane was dead and that a body has been positively identified as hers. That's why we didn't pursue it any further.
Luis: Right. Well, someone -- and I think I know who -- must have switched the D.N.A. Results to make us think that she was dead.
Liz: Well, who would want to do that?
Luis: Well, I think it was her brother.
Liz: Julian crane?
Luis: Oh, you know him?
Liz: Well, of him. Who doesn't know of Julian? He's in all the tabloids. But to think he could do such a thing to his own sister. How could he?
Luis: Oh, he could. Believe me.
Liz: Why would he want people to think that she was dead?
Luis: Well, to keep Sheridan away from me.
Liz: You? What do you have to do with Sheridan crane?
Luis: We're in love. Sheridan and I are engaged to be married.
Antonio: Sheridan, what's wrong? Don't you want to marry me?
Sheridan: I'm sorry, Antonio. This is just all so sudden. I mean, this is such a surprise.
Antonio: I thought this was what you wanted. I thought you were all for it.
Sheridan: It's just I had no idea that you wanted to elope. And this -- this isn't exactly how I pictured my wedding day.
Antonio: Well, it's -- it's because your family isn't here.
Sheridan: I'm not that close to my family, as you know, but, yeah, there are friends that I would have liked to have shared the day with. And I thought that's what you wanted, too. I mean, didn't you want your family to be there?
Antonio: Yes, yes, I do. But I didn't want to waste one more day without you and I being husband and wife, and we can still have that big wedding. We can have it when we get back to harmony and we'll invite all of our family and friends. The whole town can come out. But today is our day. Just think about it, Sheridan. By tonight, you and I will be husband and wife.
Woman: Good day. How may I help you?
Gwen: I was wondering if you could repair this watch while I wait.
Woman: I'll check with our repairs expert and be right back.
Ethan: They're beautiful, aren't they?
Gwen: Very. This one reminds me of the one you gave me when we first got together.
Ethan: Yeah, it does.
Gwen: Look, I'm not fishing for a ring here, so please don't misunderstand that that's what I'm doing.
Ethan: I don't think that. Don't worry.
[Knock on door]
Theresa: Come in.
Whitney: Hi. Am I interrupting anything?
Theresa: No. No, no. I'm glad you're here. Come. Look around. Look at my office.
Whitney: Wow, it's really, really nice. I'm sorry. I'm not exactly dressed to come visiting you here at your office. I just came from practice.
Theresa: And how did it go?
Whitney: Uh -- terrible. I was a complete mess. I don't know. I -- I just wasn't focused, I guess.
Theresa: How come?
Whitney: I don't know. Just -- just one of those days. I don't know.
Theresa: Oh, no, no, no, no. See, Whitney Russell doesn't have one of those days on a tennis court, not ever. So something happened. What was it?
Whitney: It was Chad. That's what.
Theresa: Come here.
Simone: Can I help?
Chad: No, I can -- I can handle it.
Simone: Oh, I know you can handle it, Chad, but I like to feel like I'm helping.
Chad: No, Simone, really, it's -- it's ok.
Simone: We're a team, Chad. Where would you like this stuff?
Beth: Just what do you think you're doing here?
Mrs. Wallace: Duh! I'm going to put a stop to this cruel, cruel plan that you have, missy.
Beth: Duh -- you're too late. Antonio and Sheridan are probably married by now.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh, you think so, huh?
Mrs. Wallace: I donít. Sheridan's not walking down an aisle with a man that she doesn't love.
Beth: You're wrong, mother. She loves Antonio.
Mrs. Wallace: You got a screw loose here. Let me fix it.
Beth: Hey! And if she hadn't come back to harmony and remembered who she is, she and Antonio would already be husband and wife.
Mrs. Wallace: But she did come back. She remembered who she is and who she loves, and that is Luis. So there is no way that Sheridan is not calling Luis and letting him know what's going on. And guess what then. Huh, missy? Sir Galahads going to be out of here like a shot off to the greystone inn to save his damsel in distress.
Mrs. Wallace: What?
Beth: Thank you for that reminder because that is one loophole I've got to plug.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh -- whatever.
Beth: I am neglecting my customers here. Oh, no.
Beth: I am so clumsy. I'm so sorry. Here, here. Let me just dry your jacket off for you.
Luis: No, no, no, it's ok.
Beth: No argument --
Luis: Beth, it's not necessary.
Beth: Come on, come on. I'll be back in a flash. Liz, I'm so sorry for the interruption.
Liz: No, no, no.
Beth: I'm sorry.
Luis: It's ok.
Liz: You know, I still can't get over it. You knew Sheridan before.
Luis: Yeah. Well, Sheridan and I were in love. Liz, we were engaged to be married, right here in harmony. But then they sabotaged the boat, blew it up.
Luis: Well, yeah. The high and mighty crane family doesn't think that the housekeeper's son is good enough for their family.
Liz: You really think the cranes --
Luis: Yeah, I think they rigged the boat. Now, I don't have any concrete proof but, yeah, I think they did it.
Liz: To keep you from marrying Sheridan?
Luis: Well, they don't want Sheridan and I to be together, start digging around in their past.
Liz: So they'd rather have her dead?
Luis: Yeah. I mean, Sheridanís the only decent human being in that family. She got all the good genes. She's a kind, decent, loving human being.
Liz: You weren't kidding about loving her.
Luis: Sheridan is everything to me.
Liz: All those near misses on st. Lisaís. You and Diana. Sheridan and Antonio.
Luis: I know.
Liz: Oh. And then at Christmastime when we were all here in harmony. I ran into you on the dock and you had just missed them by seconds.
Luis: I know, it's unbelievable.
Liz: When Brian found out that Sheridan was in love with someone else, he must have been crushed. And his own brother at that. Could it be any worse? Oh, poor thing. You know, I need to go find him.
Luis: Liz --
Liz: No, he needs me.
Luis: Um -- well, you see, he doesn't know yet.
Liz: Why not?
Luis: Well, it's kind of complicated.
Liz: You're scaring me, Luis. Why aren't you telling your brother about you and Sheridan?
Luis: Well, he's dying.
Sheridan: Ok, Antonio, we need to talk about this.
Antonio: Why? I thought you would be all for it.
Sheridan: It's just -- look how I'm dressed, and, you know, my hair isn't right and my makeup --
Antonio: Sheridan, honey, you have never looked more beautiful than you look right now.
Sheridan: That's very sweet, but --
Antonio: Look -- look at me. Look at me. Do you love me? Do you want to marry me?
Sheridan: I love you, but --
Antonio: No, no "buts." Life is too short and I don't want to spend one more day without you being my wife. Now, you say you want to marry me.
Antonio: Then, come on. Let's go. Come on. Marry me.
Singer: You are my passion for life
Antonio: Let's go. All of the arrangements have been made. There's nothing stopping us, right?
Antonio: I love you so much. Look at the time. We're not going to make it to the chapel in time to get married if we don't hurry. Let's go.
Sheridan: Well, wait, what happens if we don't get there in time?
Antonio: I don't even want to think about it. But I called ahead, and everything seems to be set, so come on.
Sheridan: Oh, you know what? You go get the car and I'll be there in just a minute.
Antonio: Well, what are you going to do?
Sheridan: I'm just going to go freshen up a bit, that's all.
Antonio: Ok. Well, hurry, ok?
Antonio: I'll meet you outside.
Sheridan: All right.
Sheridan: What am I going to do? I can't marry Antonio. I love Luis. I know. I'll call him. He'll come and rescue me.
Mrs. Wallace: What is that?
Beth: Nothing for you to be concerned about.
Mrs. Wallace: Looks like Luis' jacket. What are you doing with it?
Beth: I am playing secretary.
Mrs. Wallace: What?
Beth: I'm just holding all of Luis' calls.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh, you wouldn't dare. Give that back to me.
Beth: You want to stop me, huh? Then you can say bye-bye to Beth and hello sweet serenity retirement home.
Mrs. Wallace: No. No.
Mrs. Wallace: You are a wicked girl.
Beth: It's your choice, mother.
Mrs. Wallace: You're going to hell.
Beth: Oh, God, I am already in hell. Living at home, taking care of a nasty mother like you 24 hours a day? Believe me, a little fire and brimstone would be a welcome relief.
Sheridan: Pick up, Luis.
Mrs. Wallace: See? I knew it. I knew it, I knew it. What are you doing? What are you doing?
Beth: Just making sure she can't call in the posse.
Mrs. Wallace: No. Oh, I will not let you do this. I am going to tell him.
Beth: No, you're not.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh, no, no, no, no, you donít.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh! You are a wicked, wicked, wicked girl.
Liz: Brian is dying?
Luis: Yeah. The doctors say that he's got a few weeks, maybe a few months to live.
Luis: He sustained a head injury in a car race, and the doctors tell us that the smallest upset could kill him.
Liz: I know about the car accident. I was there. But I thought he was going to be ok, especially when he checked himself out of the hospital to come home to harmony.
Luis: Yeah, well, apparently it's worse than they first thought.
Liz: I knew it.
Luis: Knew what?
Liz: That history would repeat itself. Brian was in a car race before, cracked up at a race track. It almost killed him then. I warned him, I pleaded with him not to race again, but he wouldn't listen.
Luis: Yeah, well, he doesn't take well to being told what to do.
Liz: Brian's his own man.
Luis: Always was.
Liz: He was so determined to help Diana -- Sheridan crane -- out of a tight fix. She had some gambling debts.
Luis: Yeah. I know.
Liz: Brian's dying. I can't believe it.
Luis: You really care about him, don't you?
Liz: Of course I do.
Luis: Are you in love with him? even know about that party.
Ethan: Not for one minute would I think you were fishing for a ring.
Gwen: Oh, that's a relief because I wouldn't want you to think that I lured you into a jewelry store to buy me a ring.
Ethan: Gwen, you're not capable of anything underhanded. That's one of the reasons why I care about you.
Woman: I'm told it would take about half an hour to repair the crystal on your watch, miss.
Gwen: Oh, no, no, no, no. That's too long. I have a meeting to go to.
Ethan: Oh, I'll stay.
Gwen: Ethan, no. I can't ask you to do that.
Ethan: You didn't ask me. I offered.
Gwen: Are you sure?
Gwen: You're the best. Thank you.
Ethan: Have a good meeting.
Gwen: If Ethan asks me to marry him again, I won't hesitate for a second. There is no way I am going to let Theresa take him away from me again. No way.
Theresa: All right, what is it? What happened? Tell me.
Whitney: Chad said that our relationship is over.
Whitney: It's over.
Theresa: Well, I don't believe that because he loves you and he wouldn't break up with you.
Whitney: Well, he did.
Theresa: Ok. Why?
Whitney: Last night when my mother gave me the chance to be really honest about how I really felt about Chad, I wasnít. And then Chad got real mad at me about it.
Theresa: And why weren't you honest?
Whitney: My sister and my father were right there. If I were to tell them the truth, they would be completely devastated. I mean, look what happened when Simone only thought that Chad and I were in love. She took off in Julianís car and wrecked it. She could have been killed. And my father -- he's depending on me to fulfill his dream and my grandfather's dream of becoming a champion tennis player. So how am I supposed to let them down, you know?
Theresa: Well, what about your dreams, Whitney? I mean, don't you have a right to see them come true?
Whitney: I just don't know what to do, Theresa. I mean, just now when I was at the book cafe, I got myself all set up to just tell Chad how I feel, to be open and honest with him, to try to at least repair some of the damage that I've caused for him, but he wouldn't even -- he wouldn't even give me a chance, you know? And the C.D. That he wrote for me that we recorded together was playing. And he just ripped it out of the C.D. Player and threw it in the trash.
Whitney: He said that it was over, history. And I knew he wasn't just talking about the C.D. He was talking about us.
Chad: Hey, Beth. Look, I need to take a break. I'll be back soon.
Beth: All right. I'll hold down the fort.
Sheridan: Luis, it's me. You have got to help me. Antonio has sprung a surprise on me. He wants us to elope, today, right now. I don't know how to get out of it. I've been stalling like crazy, but I've run out of excuses. I can't stop him. I don't know what to do, Luis. Please, you have got to help me. Call me back on my cell. Or you know what? Better yet, come to the wedding chapel in pelican harbor and stop this.
[Voice mail beeps]
Computerized voice: To hear this message again, press five. To save it, press six. To erase it, press seven.
Beth: Lucky number seven.
Luis: Look, I'm sorry. I -- I had no idea that you cared about Antonio that way.
Luis: And I didn't mean to dump all this on you, Liz.
Liz: I know. It's not your fault. It's just a horrible irony, that's all. Here everybody is desperate to try and protect everyone else to keep them from getting hurt. But in the end, everyone suffers.
Liz: Poor Antonio. He adores Sheridan. I mean, he thinks the sun rises and sets over her. They were always swimming in the lagoon nude and making love on the beach all night. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. I just -- I can't see Antonio without Sheridan. He loves her that much.
Luis: Well, he can't have her. Sheridan's mine.
Man: Come in. Meet Mona, my wife. She'll be playing the organ.
Mona: If you want music.
Man: Well, or she can be a witness if you haven't brought one with you.
Antonio: No. No, we didnít. We just wanted it to be special, just the two of us.
Man: Mona and I can always tell the marriages that are going to work. The couple is so obviously in love.
Mona: Like no one else in the world matters.
Man: Just like the two of you. I just need you to sign the marriage license, and we can begin.
Antonio: Ladies first.
Whitney: I've gone over and over it in my mind, and I still can't believe that Chad would actually call off our relationship.
Chad: Liar! Why don't you tell Theresa the truth. I didn't call off the relationship, you did.
Woman: We are having a special on diamonds this week, and we have a truly lovely selection.
Ethan: Some real beauties.
Woman: Are you looking to get one for somebody special?
Ethan: I am. I would like to buy an engagement ring.
Mrs. Wallace: Oh, please. Please don't let my daughter's wicked plan work. She doesn't deserve an upright, handsome man like Luis Lopez Fitzgerald. She doesnít. Besides, she needs to stay here and take care of me. Please. I know -- I'll pray that Luis wises up and kicks Beth out of his life forever.
Liz: I think I'll go powder my nose, do a little repair work.
Luis: None needed.
Beth: All right. I managed to dry it. I'm sorry I got it wet to begin with.
Luis: No, it's ok. You know, I should have heard from Sheridan by now. Maybe she left me a message on my voice mail. Huh. Nothing.
Luis: Not from Sheridan. Her and Antonio should have been finished with lunch by now.
Beth: Well, I'm sure they're going to be here really soon, so we'll just wait as long as it takes. Ok?
Antonio: Sheridan, are you going to sign the certificate? We can't have the ceremony without it.
Mona: Well, maybe if the bride is just a tad nervous, the groom could go first this time.
Antonio: Yeah, yeah, sure. There you go.
Sheridan's voice: Please, Luis, pick up my phone message. Come and rescue me.
Antonio: I can't believe it. I'm about to make you my wife.
Sheridan: I can't believe it, either.
