Passions Transcript Friday 9/27/02--Canada; Monday 9/30/02--USA
Gwen: Your fantasies can only take you so far, Theresa, because this -- this is reality. Ethan made love to me tonight. And you have no idea how fantastic it was. Ethan has never had sex with you the way he's had sex with me. And he doesn't take it lightly. It's very important to him. It's an important part of a loving, committed relationship based on trust. And he's told you over and over again that he can't trust you. So, you see, Ethan is committed to me. And you know I'm right, don't you? You know you've lost him.
Theresa: I've lost him. I have lost Ethan.
Ethan: Julian, were you going to tell me something else? What were you thinking about?
Julian: I was thinking about a mistake I made and about giving you this advice.
Ethan: Well, naturally, when I decide I'm going to marry someone, I'll be very careful about that decision.
Julian: Well, I hope you will be, because that's why I'm telling you this, because of that mistake I made and I don't want you to do the same.
Ethan: You're still talking about my marrying the right woman?
Julian: Yes. When you pick the woman with whom you want to spend the rest of your life, make sure it's the right woman, because the right woman can make all the difference in a man's life. All the difference.
Eve: My baby's gone
Julian: You must listen to me, Ethan. Choosing the right woman to marry is an enormous decision. It can affect the outcome of a man's entire life. It can change everything forever.
Ethan: I hear you. I just don't understand why you're telling me this.
Julian: Forewarned is forearmed.
Ethan: You never gave me this much advice when I thought you were my father.
Julian: I'm sorry. I should have given you more advice. I know that now. Perhaps I'm just trying to make up for everything that I didn't do for you and for myself.
[Julian turns up volume]
Eve: And I don't know why my baby's gone now I'm all alone
Julian: Don't make the same mistake I made.
Eve: My baby's gone
Julian: Don't let the woman you really love get away.
Eve: Wonder where he's found a home
T.C.: I'm telling you, sugar bear, the right woman can completely change the course of a man's life forever. I don't know where I would be without your mother.
Eve: Oh, you'd be wherever you wanted to be, T.C. I have very little to do with your success.
T.C.: She's being modest. But your mother's right. You and Chad need to take it slow. Make sure that your relationship is on equal footing. Both give as much as you receive. And if you really love Chad, make sure that your love can make him feel like he can conquer the world. It's the same thing your mother makes me feel. This is one special woman.
Eve: Honey, you're embarrassing me.
T.C.: Hey, I only want my daughter to know that I'm so lucky that I found you, that I married you. Baby, you can make any man feel like a better man. I'm just so glad that that man was me.
Julian: I got an advance copy.
Eve: "Rolling stone"!
Julian: And don't you look fabulous on the cover.
Eve: Oh, honey, me on the cover of "rolling stone."
Julian: Again. And I think this picture really captures your natural quality. I mean, you're magnificent, yes?
Eve: Oh, and it's all thanks to you, sweetheart, because you believed in me and my talent.
Julian: I would have been a fool not to.
Eve: Yeah, and you've been proven right. And after 25 years and a record number of platinum albums and worldwide fame, my career is still going strong.
Julian: Well, nothing can stop it.
Eve: You know, I never even had to mount a comeback?
Julian: That's because you were never away.
Eve's voice: That vision of what might have been -- could it be true? If I had married Julian, would he be a different man? A better man?
Whitney: Chad, you can't be serious.
Chad: No, our relationship's over, Whitney. You let me down. You let me down bad. And I take that very seriously.
Whitney: Ok, would you just let me explain why I did it?
Chad: What's to explain? You had the perfect opportunity to tell Simone about us back there and you didnít.
Whitney: Because I was scared.
Chad: Your mother asked you to be honest. Your father was there to comfort Simone. You could have told your sister the truth and got this whole thing out in the open. Then we could have been together, been a real couple, instead of sneaking around like Luis and Sheridan.
Whitney: They can't admit their love for each other because of Antonio.
Chad: I get it. His health is so bad the shock could kill him. But that's not what's going on here. Yeah, Simone is going to be hurt by the truth, but she's not going to just die, is she?
Whitney: No, she's not.
Chad: So what it comes down to is you just didn't want to tell her. You decided to lie and say that you loved no one.
Whitney: But I explained to you why -- my dad and his tennis dream, and he felt like he let down his father.
Chad: What does that have to do with us?
Whitney: He's depending on me to become what he couldn't, to become a champion. Can't you understand that?
Chad: Yeah, I understand, Whitney. I understand that you're putting your dad's and your grandfather's dream of tennis glory before me, before our love.
Whitney: No, no, no, no, it's way more complicated than that.
Chad: No, it's not! It's real simple. Either you love me or you donít. Either you want to be with me or you donít. You made your choice, so it's over between us!
Antonio: Oh, man. Sheridan -- could she be out here?
Luis: I love you. I can't imagine my life without you.
Luis: I'm sorry. I wish I had the words to describe how I truly feel.
Sheridan: You do. You do have the right words. What you said means everything to me. The first time you proposed was so beautiful and perfect, and this time is just as special.
Luis: Ok. All you have to do is answer my question. Will you make me the happiest man in the world? Will you be my wife?
Singer: I would hold the hand of the one who could lead me places and kiss the lips of the one who could sing so sweet and I would fly on the wings of the bird I knew could take me highest breathe in, breathe out you keep me alive you are the fire burning inside of me you are my passion for life
Gwen: Yes, Theresa, you have lost Ethan. The only reason he's even giving you a second thought is because of the work you're doing for Alistair and crane industries. It's the work, Theresa, not you.
Theresa: All right, Gwen.
Gwen: As soon as he drops off that book tonight, he's going to come back to bed with me. He's a passionate man, Theresa, and he's mine. I'm not going to let you take him away from me again. And I'm not going to make the same mistake I made the first time he proposed to me. I won't say no, and I won't worry about it being perfect or pressuring Ethan. I trust that he wouldn't ask me to marry him unless he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. So when he pops the question, I'll say yes right away, and I'll put that ring on my finger immediately. Oh, but don't worry. You'll be invited to the wedding. I want you to be there and see it when Ethan pledges to love me for the rest of his life.
Theresa: You're confusing me, Gwen.
Gwen: How can you be confused? I've won. You've lost.
Theresa: Well, first, you tell me that Ethan loves you, that he's committed to you and only you.
Gwen: That's right.
Theresa: And then you tell me that you won't let me take Ethan away from you again.
Gwen: I wonít.
Theresa: Well, if you're as confident as you say you are, my taking Ethan away from you isn't even a possibility.
Gwen: No, it's not.
Theresa: No, Gwen. If you're so sure of Ethanís love for you, you wouldn't be in here right now trying to convince me that I don't have a chance with him. I have figured you out, Gwen. You're not here to boast about Ethanís undying love for you. No, you're trying to scare me off, because you're afraid of what I already know. Ethan loves me.
Ethan: What has gotten into you? I've never seen you like this before, Julian.
Julian: I was just thinking about the past, wondering what might have been.
Ethan: That tape -- like I said before, I remember you listening to it in the mansion when I was growing up. The way you're acting -- it's like you're lamenting something.
Eve: Tonight are you saying that this vision is what you wanted; this is what you've wanted our life to be like?
Julian: That's what I've been trying to tell you, eve. I really did love you, and I really did want to spend the rest of my life with you.
Eve: There in a cloud
Julian: Just be careful, Ethan. When you choose the woman you want to spend the rest of your life with, choose wisely.
Ethan: Don't worry, I will.
Julian: What's come over me tonight? Some sort of melancholia. By morning, I'll be back to my old self, back in crane mode. No more of this wishy-washy stuff.
Ethan: Well, I'm -- I better get the book to Theresa for her report.
Eve: My baby's gone
Ethan: Thanks for the talk.
Julian: Oh, my pleasure.
Ethan: It's too bad that Julian will be gone in the morning. That's the Julian I wouldn't mind having for a father -- or at least a friend.
Eve: I am not supposed to see him lying there he's right where he belongs
Simone: One thing I do know for sure -- Chad and I could make just as good a husband-and-wife team as you guys are.
T.C.: Wait a minute, sweetheart. You need to slow down. You're too young to be thinking about marriage.
Eve: And nobody could have been a better husband to me than your father.
T.C.: Oh, baby.
Julian: Oh, life is perfect.
Simone: What's Julian crane going to say when he sees that I wrecked his car and his garage?
T.C.: Sweetheart, don't worry about it.
Simone: But I do, daddy.
T.C.: Honey, he's going to be upset. But I'm going to tell him that we're prepared to take care of the damages. Julian.
Eve: What are you thinking, honey?
T.C.: I was just thinking about what I told Simone earlier -- about how a good wife can make a husband better. I don't think any woman can make Julian crane better. Not even you, honey. As wonderful as you are, Julian crane will be nothing more than the putrid scum that he is.
Simone: He's going to be very mad.
T.C.: Sweetheart, forget about it. Let's go find Whitney and Chad. Come on.
Eve: Why do I keep having this ridiculous vision?
Whitney: You're wrong, Chad. I do love you. And I don't want our relationship to end. But I don't want to hurt my father either.
Chad: And his dream comes first?
Whitney: And I don't want my sister to be hurt. My God, you saw how upset she got before when she thought we were together, taking that car and crashing it. I mean, she went completely crazy. And then my father, talking about tennis, and he became so emotional when he said that he let his father down.
Chad: You don't want to hurt your father. I get it. But what about me? Hurting me is ok? Look, Whitney, all I know is you didn't have to deny our love. You could have told Simone the truth. You could have told T.C. That you're going to continue to pursue your tennis career, but you're also in love with me. You could have had it all, but you chose not to. You chose to cut me out of your life.
Simone: What's up?
Whitney: Oh! Nothing.
Simone: It must be something. You guys look so serious.
Chad: You want to know, Simone? I'll tell you exactly what I and Whitney were talking about.
Sheridan: Yes, Luis. Yes, I will marry you. I will be your wife.
Antonio: Oh, no. No. How'd the basketball try-out go?
Eve: By baby's gone now I'm all alone
Julian: Julian crane. I want you to make the transaction as soon as the European markets open. Yes, I'm sure. I may have come back from the dead, but I didn't suddenly become a financial idiot! Oh, God, what happened to me tonight? I'm a crane. No more being maudlin. It's time to reassume my birthright. Fresh air -- let's have a little walk.
Eve: For so long
[Julian turns up volume]
Eve: And the rain's been coming down too long
Julian: I'll be able to listen to eve's luscious voice through the window as I walk.
Eve: My baby's gone mm-hmm my baby's gone
Simone: Ok, well, what is it? What were you guys talking about?
Chad: Whitney and I were just arguing about forgetting to give you your gift for starting college. We went in on it together.
Simone: You guys got me a present?
Chad: Yes, at the house.
Simone: Ah! You guys are totally wonderful. I am so happy that my boyfriend and my sister are so close.
Chad: Excuse me; I got to go make a quick phone call to the record studio.
Whitney: I got to ask Chad a question real quick.
Simone: About my present?
Eve: And I don't know why oh --
T.C.: That voice --
Eve: My baby's gone
T.C.: That song -- I've heard it before. Yeah, here at the crane grounds. In Julianís library.
Simone: It does sound familiar.
T.C.: Yeah. And I never figured out who that voice was.
Eve: Do you know, I left my beeper in the mansion. I'm -- I'm going to go get it, and I'll be right back.
Antonio: Ah, my head.
Ah. I shouldn't have left the cottage to look for Sheridan. I'll go back. If she's still at the cottage, she's going to be worried about me.
Sheridan and Luis: Mmm.
Sheridan: Mmm, my engagement ring is back on my finger.
Luis: Right where it belongs.
Sheridan: Mm-hmm. I love it so much.
Luis: I love you.
Sheridan: My God. Antonio!
Luis: What the hell is he doing here?
Sheridan: I don't know. The sleeping pill must have worn off.
Luis: I thought that was supposed to last for hours.
Sheridan: Yeah, so did I.
Sheridan: I'm sorry, Luis. I have to go.
Luis: No! Sheridan, you canít. Look, this time's for us.
Sheridan: I know, but I'm worried about him, and he shouldn't be wandering the grounds half asleep. He could fall and hit his head.
Luis: Damn it. I wanted this to be our time together.
Theresa: That's it, isn't it, Gwen? You are afraid that Ethan is going to come back to me.
Gwen: Dream on, Theresa.
Theresa: You're afraid that Ethan is going to leave you for me just like he did before.
Gwen: Oh, come on.
Theresa: If you were so confident in Ethanís love for you, you wouldn't be up here attacking me right now. No, instead, you'd be curled up in your bed asleep. But, no, you're in my face, you're asking me all these questions, trying to find out if Ethan and I are bonding again.
Gwen: That is such a lie.
[Knock on door]
Theresa: You're worried sick, Gwen.
Ethan: Here's the book. Gwen, what are you doing here?
Gwen: I woke up. I woke up, and you weren't there, so I -- I came looking for you.
Ethan: Is everything all right here?
Eve: Where are you, Julian?
I am not supposed to see him lying there
[Eve stops tape]
Eve: I don't care how many copies of this tape you have. At least now you're going to have one less.
Eve: I wonder if there are any more copies in here. Oh, T.C. Can never know about my past with Julian and that we had a baby together. He can't know. He already despises Julian. He blames him for that accident that tore up his knee and ruined his career.
T.C.: I would like to make a toast to the most beautiful, most caring, and most perfect wife a man could ever have.
Eve: I'm not perfect, T.C. Far from it.
T.C.: Honey, you are to me, and you always will be, and nothing could ever change that.
Eve: What if there were something, T.C.? What if there were something that could make you feel differently about me?
T.C.: Honey, there isnít.
Eve: Oh, my poor husband. He thinks that I'm -- I'm always so sweet and so innocent. If he knew what I had done with Julian, he would hate me forever.
Chad: Yeah, baby, we'll finish laying those tracks down tomorrow. I got to go.
Whitney: Look, we need to talk about this.
Chad: Well, you had your chance to talk. You had all kinds of chances to tell Simone and your parents about us. You didnít. You didn't stand up for our love. So as far as I'm concerned, we're finished, finished for good.
Whitney: Wait, no!
Chad: No, it's over, Whitney! It's over!
Julian: Oh! Who turned off the music? I want to be able to listen to eve on my -- on my walk.
Julian: What the hell happened to my car?
Simone: Oh, no. Mr. Crane must have seen his car.
T.C.: Well, it sounds like Julianís not going to be reasonable after all. Yeah, why am I not surprised? Come on, sugar bear. Let's go see what he has to say.
Julian: My car! And my garage! Whoever did this is going to pay!
Singer: You are my passion for life
Luis: Hey, don't go. Antonio found his way here. I'm sure he can find his way back to the cottage by himself.
Sheridan: What if he can't? What if he falls and hits his head again?
Luis: All right. You're right. It's just I wanted to have this time together. We just got engaged again.
Sheridan: I understand, honey, and I want to stay here, too. But, look, we've got a whole lifetime ahead of us. Antonio doesn't have that much time left. Please, just let me get him back to the cottage.
Luis: Will you come back?
Sheridan: I don't know if I'll be able to.
Luis: All right, well, I don't want you sleeping in the same bed with him, ok?
Sheridan: He'll probably go right to sleep. Don't worry. I love you. I'm so sorry.
Luis: Lady, one little kiss?
Sheridan: I'm sorry, Luis.
Luis: It's all right.
Julian: I mean, what kind of riffraff did Theresa invite to this damn party? My car is wrecked, my garage is in ruins. What the hell is going on?
Julian: What do you want?
T.C.: We need to talk.
Julian: No, not now. I have to find out what happened to my car.
T.C.: I know what happened to your car. My daughter Simone had an accident.
Julian: She did it?
Julian: What was she doing in my car?
Simone: I'm sorry, Mr. Crane.
Julian: You're sorry?
Simone: I didn't mean to wreck your car.
Julian: You didn't mean? Oh, well, that puts my mind completely at ease. It would be an entirely different story if you meant to wreck my car.
Simone: I -- I'm so sorry. I --
Julian: And my garage. Do you have any idea who designed that? Well, you're going to be more sorry than you could ever have imagined because you're going to pay for it --
T.C.: I'm warning you, Julian --
Julian: Every dime!
T.C.: Do not yell at my daughter.
Julian: All right, I won't yell. I will quietly call the police and have her arrested.
T.C.: Hold on, Julian.
Julian: I didn't give her permission to drive my car. That means she stole it.
T.C.: My daughter did not steal --
Julian: So I will notify the authorities, and, you, missy, will spend the rest of the evening in jail.
Ethan: Is something going on here?
Gwen: No, no. Like I said, everything's fine. I was just -- I woke up and you were gone, so I came to look for you.
Ethan: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I should have left a note.
Gwen: It's ok. Don't worry about it.
Ethan: I just -- I had an idea for Theresaís report and I had to go to the library and get a book.
Theresa: That's really sweet of you.
Ethan: I hope it helps.
Theresa: I -- I don't know what I'd be doing if you couldn't help me.
Ethan: You would do just fine.
Theresa: You really think so?
Ethan: Absolutely. You're smart and you're a hard worker. I'm sure Alistairís going to be very pleased with your work.
Theresa: I hope so. I mean, I do have to confess I'm a little nervous.
Gwen: Wait -- when are you coming back to bed? Because I can hardly keep my eyes open.
Ethan: Soon, soon. The -- the case you need to refer to is on page 321.
Theresa: 321. I have it.
Ethan: Yeah. Ok.
Ethan: Then I'll say good night, then.
Theresa: I can't thank you enough.
Ethan: No problem.
Gwen: Ok, let's go to bed.
Ethan: Ok. I just -- I want to make sure everything is ok. You don't need my help with anything else?
Simone: I can't go to jail!
T.C.: Don't worry, honey. You're not.
Julian: Oh, isn't she?
T.C.: You keep threatening my daughter like that; you're going to end up like your car.
Julian: Now, there's no need to get violent. Your daughter has caused enough damage for one evening.
T.C.: I'll pay for the damages!
Julian: You? Do you have any idea how much a car like that costs? You think you could pay for that on a teacher's salary?
T.C.: And my wife's salary. She's a doctor, remember? We'll come up with the money.
Julian: I am on the hospital board. I know what eve makes. I doubt that between the two of you you can come up with enough money to make the repairs!
T.C.: Damn it, Julian, we have insurance!
Julian: Oh, don't make me laugh. Your insurance wouldn't cover a tenth of what's owed.
T.C.: We got it covered! Now, knock it off!
Julian: What is wrong with you people?
T.C.: "You people"?
Whitney: No, donít.
Julian: Wait, wait, please. Just don't fly off the handle.
T.C.: No, it's too late. I already --
Julian: I mean, I wouldn't --
Julian: No, certainly, you don't think I meant anything racial by that remark?
Chad: Yeah, that's exactly what we think.
Julian: No! I meant
all of you people, the middle class, the working class. I have to garnish the Russell family wages for the next dozen years to pay for this!
Simone: Oh, God!
Eve: What's going on here?
Simone: Mr. Crane says that I have to go to jail --
Simone: Because we can't afford for the damages to his car and his garage!
Eve: My daughter doesn't have to go to any jail, Julian, and you're not going to do anything to her.
T.C.: Damn it, no, he isnít.
Simone: I can't tell you how sorry I am, Mr. Crane!
T.C.: Sweetheart, you already have.
Simone: I was just like -- I just got upset. I saw Whitney and Chad together and I thought that they had betrayed me, but they had this vision, this kind of shared vision that they had and --
Julian: A shared vision?
Simone: Yes, I know that it sounds weird, but they -- they had this vision and they could see into the future and Whitney and Chad saw me and Chad together and she was a tennis player and --
Julian: Now, I know you were as affected by that vision that we just saw as I was.
Eve: It was just a vision, Julian. Nothing could have been further from the truth.
Julian: I don't agree with you, because the man that you saw there, the man that you loved, was the man I might have been, the man I wanted to be. If only I had stood up to my father and married you and not let him browbeat me into marrying poison ivy. If only I had the courage in my heart, our lives would have been so much different, I swear to you, eve. If I had known that you were pregnant, I would have been there for you and for the baby.
Simone: And the keys were in the car and I just --
Julian: It's -- it's all right, Simone.
Julian: If I left the keys in the car, it was my fault. T.C., You don't need to turn this into the insurance company.
Simone: I don't understand.
Julian: I will take care of the repairs. You needn't concern yourself with this any longer.
Antonio: I'm sorry about earlier. You know, me crashing on you the way I did, I -- I don't know what happened then. I just couldn't stay awake.
Sheridan: Well, you need to rest.
Antonio: Yeah, but I wanted to have a romantic evening with just the two of us together, you know.
Sheridan: Don't worry about it.
Antonio: I'm not worried about it. I was just worried when I couldn't find you.
Sheridan: Well, you know, I just wanted to go out and get some air before I went to bed.
Antonio: Yeah, I cannot wait to get in bed with you. Man, I'm still so tired, I can't even stay awake.
Sheridan: It's your body telling you that you need to rest.
Antonio: No, what it's telling me is that I need you.
Sheridan: Well, we could both do with a good night's sleep. Come on.
Antonio: Yeah. I can't wait to stretch out with you.
Sheridan: All right, go ahead and lie down.
Antonio: Oh, no, not without you. Come on. That feels good, huh?
Antonio: You know, ever since we became lovers, we've stayed in the same bed together.
Sheridan: Except when you were in the hospital.
Antonio: Yeah, but don't remind me of that. I remember one time I reached up for you in the middle of the night and you weren't there.
Sheridan: I was there almost the entire time.
Antonio: Yeah, but in a chair next to the bed, not under the covers with me. This is the way it should be. And this is the way it's going to be forever.
Sheridan: What? What's wrong?
Antonio: I don't know. I have the strangest feeling that someone's watching us.
Antonio: What theÖ
Gwen: Come on, Ethan. Let's get out of Theresaís way. She's working really hard.
Ethan: All right, all right. I'm going to bed. Looks like you have everything under control.
Theresa: Well, if I don't know, I will soon.
Ethan: Ok. We'll see you tomorrow, then.
Theresa: This case.
Ethan: What? What's wrong?
Theresa: No, no, no. Everything is -- is right. What you did with the case -- it's -- the twist? It's brilliant.
Ethan: Thanks. I remember that case really well. It's funny. I was completely stumped, and I just thought of this case that I had studied in law school, and it was intricate, but it gave me an idea, and I just went with it, and everything fell together.
Theresa: You made it come together.
Ethan: That was my first major case at crane industries, my first real win. Even the senior partners, they came by to congratulate me.
Theresa: You must have felt really proud.
Ethan: It was one of the best days of my life.
Theresa: Well, there's nothing like the feeling of accomplishing your goal, is there? No matter how difficult.
Ethan: No, nothing.
Simone: Don't have to pay?
T.C.: Wait a minute. First, you want to have my daughter thrown into jail. Now all of a sudden, you want to take care of everything.
Chad: What's with the 180?
Whitney: Good question.
Julian: I -- I already told you. It was my fault, so --
T.C.: Simone caused the damages and we'll pay for the damages.
Julian: If you want to do something with your money, you give it to the needy.
T.C.: Does anybody know what just happened?
Whitney: I don't know, but he did say that we could forget about the whole thing.
T.C.: Wait a minute. First, he wants to garnish our wages to pay for his car. Then he says it's his fault. What is going on?
Chad: I have no idea, but I know enough about the cranes to know that it ain't nothing good.
T.C.: Julian crane's got an ulterior motive, all right.
Whitney: But what could it be?
T.C.: I don't know. But Julian wants something. I guarantee you that.
Sheridan: Antonio, what is it?
Antonio: I just realized that this was my room when I was a little boy.
Sheridan: That's right. Your family lived here for a while years ago.
Antonio: Yeah. Luis and I shared this room. I'm hoping now that I'm back that we can become good friends again. And, hey, who knows what we'll share as adults, huh? Maybe we'll got a box at Fenway Park to watch the sox or season tickets to the patriots' games?
Antonio: What do you think?
Sheridan: About what?
Antonio: About me and Luis becoming best buds.
Sheridan: Sure. Why not?
Antonio: I still get the feeling that someone's watching us, though.
Sheridan: Hey, I'm sure no one is out there. Come on.
Antonio: Well, I'm going to go ahead and close these anyway.
Luis: I can't take much more of this. I got to find a way to be with
Sheridan. I will. I'm going to find a way to fix this. There's no way
Sheridanís going to share her bed with another man.
