Todd: Oh, enough with the waterworks.
Téa: Ha ha! You're awake. [Crying]
Todd: Stop crying.
Téa: Not a chance. Oh!
Dani: My mom said my dad was getting harassed or something before the shooting.
Nate: Harassed? Like how?
Dani: She doesn't know. My dad would get these weird calls, and then he would just snap afterwards. That's probably why he went all psycho on you.
Nate: Who was calling? Do you think it was the guy that shot him?
Dani: I don't know. My dad never told my mom who it was or what the calls were about. But it couldn't have been my Uncle Tomás, because he didn't even know where my mom was when the calls first started happening.
Nate: Yeah, yeah, you're right.
Dani: I'm just so glad you don't think that he hurt my dad anymore.
Tomás: When I made that portrait of you, I dreamed of meeting you. Of course, I never thought it would happen, but somehow you managed to find me. I've been waiting years to get to know you. Now the more I know about you, the more I want to be with you.
Blair: Well, I have a confession to make, too. I feel the same way about you.
James: You don't have enough money for any other way back to Dayton.
Deanna: That's ok.
Starr: What do you mean?
Deanna: Because I've decided to stay in Llanview.
Starr: You're staying in Llanview until...
Deanna: Until whenever.
Starr: You're going to live here?
Deanna: Yeah. It feels like this could be my new home.
Natalie: There you go. Is that better? Oh, Liam, I hope it's always this easy to solve your problems. Not like your poor cousin Shane. Ok, let's do this.
Marty's voice: Yes, something's wrong. I asked John to dinner tonight. He said yes, and now he's blowing me off. I think he's having--
Natalie: Ok, this isn't right. This is so not right, 'cause that is not Shane. It was Marty.
John: It's good that you want to make a fresh start with no secrets between us.
Marty: Yeah, I do.
John: So, what is it you want to tell me?
Marty: First there's something I need to find out about you.
John: I did not see that coming.
Marty: Well, why not?
John: Marty, what are you doing?
Marty: What do you think?
Tomás: What are we doing?
Blair: Do you want to stop?
Tomás: Do you?
Blair: Do you?
Téa: How are you? Are you in pain? Oh, I can't believe this. You know what, I'm gonna get you some water, ok? I'm gonna get you some water, all right? Here. Drink this. Drink this, please. Ok. That's good. I'm gonna get the doctor, all right?
Todd: No, wait a minute.
Todd: I need to know...
Téa: Know what?
Todd: What happened?
Téa: I never thought I'd see you again. I never-- it's ok. You're back now. You know what, Dani's probably still here. I should get the doctor and--oh, God. I gotta call Sam and Jack and Starr and Blair. They missed you so much. They missed you so much, Todd.
Starr: So you're moving all of your stuff here?
Deanna: I don't have much.
Starr: But you're moving here forever.
Deanna: I don't know. Forever's a long time.
James: When did you decide you wanted to live here?
Deanna: It just hit me.
James: It wasn't part of the plan, Deanna.
Deanna: No, I know. But when I thought about getting on that bus and going back to Dayton... there's nothing for me to look forward to. Nobody I want to see. All I have is bad memories. So why would I want to go there?
Starr: Because I thought you were looking for your biological mother.
Deanna: Going back to Dayton won't help. I need to get enough money for that lawyer who knows where she is.
James: You know people in Dayton.
Deanna: Who? Nobody who can help me find a job.
Starr: A job? A job here? James just found that job at the car wash. Do you have any idea how long that took him?
Deanna: I know what you're thinking--that staying in Llanview is about James.
Starr: Isn't it?
Deanna: Yes. It's about James.
Téa: Be right back.
Todd: Tell me what happened.
Téa: Well, you had surgery and then you went into a coma.
Todd: What else?
Téa: Well, that was a lot. They didn't know if it was the anesthesia--you had a bad reaction to it--because when you came out of the surgery, you seemed to be ok.
Todd: I mean what happened?
Téa: You were shot, Todd.
Nate: Do you want to go in?
Dani: No, I think my mom wanted some alone time with my dad. I wish he'd wake up already.
Nate: Yeah, I know.
Dani: Especially now. He could tell us who was making those strange calls, and then we could just find him.
Nate: Do you really think whoever it was shot your dad?
Dani: If he did, then I swear he's going to pay.
Tomás: We should stop.
Blair: We should?
Tomás: Before we can't.
Blair: Why would that be bad?
Tomás: That would be, uh...
Tomás: You know what that would be.
Blair: Maybe I will surprise you.
Tomás: I'm sure you would.
Téa: We need to find a doctor right away!
Dani: Oh, my God. What happened?
Téa: He's awake. Your father's awake.
Dani: Oh, my God!
Shaun: I'll get the doctor.
Dani: You're sure?
Téa: He's awake. He's talking. He's trying to make an escape. Your father's back, mija.
Dani: I can't believe it. Can I see him? I have to see--
Téa: A little groggy, so--
Nate: Go ahead, go ahead!
Téa: Take it easy on him. Come on, come on.
Shaun: Doctor's on his way in.
Nate: It's incredible.
Shaun: Yeah, unless your name is Tomás Delgado. Now maybe we'll get some answers.
Blair: I don't hear any music.
Tomás: Are you sure? I can hear it.
Marty: What's wrong?
John: Nothing. You said you wanted to tell me something, and I want to hear it.
Marty: You will.
John: You said you weren't gonna hold anything back from me, but I'm starting to feel like you are.
Marty: No, I don't plan to hold anything back from you.
John: Then what do you want to tell me?
Natalie: Ok, Liam. Something's definitely wrong here, because this case definitely says "Shane Morasco," but this tape it's Marty Saybrooke. And trust me, I heard her in my nightmares enough times to know. Ok, yeah. We gotta call your Uncle Rex. I gotta let him know. I gotta let him know that we've got Marty... we've got Marty Saybrooke's therapy session on tape.
Marty's voice: I think he's having dinner with another woman. I don't think he's really that interested in me.
Dr. Buhari: Marty, we talked about this.
Marty: This isn't right! I don't deserve this, not after everything I did to put an end to John and Natalie. I deserve to be with John.
Natalie: What is she talking about? Mommy definitely shouldn't be doing this. Yes, that's an invasion of someone's privacy, and you only do that in an emergency, like when Marty Saybrooke has a vendetta against you and she keeps talking about you. Then all bets are off.
Marty: Is something wrong?
Marty: Well, good.
John: Marty. No.
Marty: Oh...sorry. I must have misunderstood. I thought you were interested.
John: Listen to me. It's too soon, all right? We're just getting to know each other again.
John: You don't sound fine.
Marty: I know what you're doing.
John: Yeah? What's that?
Marty: You're just not interested in me anymore.
John: That's not true.
Marty: Ok, then why are you pushing me away? Is this about Natalie?
Dr. Buhari: What does that mean, Marty?
Rex: Don't play that!
Natalie: Whoa, whoa!
Rex: We changed our minds.
James: Deanna, I meant what I said. Starr and I are together, and that's not gonna change.
Deanna: I get it.
Starr: But you don't care. You're just gonna go after him anyway?
Deanna: Look, I know I missed my chance with James. I get it. I don't want to start trouble for you guys.
James: Then what are you doing?
Deanna: I don't have anyone in Dayton--no friends, no family, no job. You were always like family for me. And I don't mean--even before we made--
Deanna: We were friends. We were always that, and until I find my mom, you're kind of all I've got. I hope we can be friends, too. I mean, it's different than high school, right? Just because I used to be with James and you're with him now, it's not like we have to automatically hate each other, right?
Starr: You're right.
Starr: It shouldn't be that way. Where are you gonna live?
[Cell phone rings]
James: Oh, oh. Excuse me, Starr. It's Nate. Hey.
Nate: Starr with you?
James: Yeah, Starr's here. Why?
James: No! Dude, that's awesome! All right, thanks for calling. Yeah, yeah. It's your dad. Starr, he's awake! He opened his eyes. He's talking. Yeah!
Starr: Oh, my God! I have to call Dani!
James: No, Dani knows. She's at the hospital.
Starr: What about Jack and Sam and Mom? I have to call them.
James: Yeah, call 'em.
Blair: Oh, yeah.
Tomás: You are so beautiful. You put that painting I made to shame.
Blair: Wait-- mm-hmm. Something's vibrating.
Tomás: Yeah, mine, too.
Blair: I think it's my phone.
[Phone continues buzzing]
Tomás: Oh, do you have to get it?
Blair: Somebody is really trying to reach me. And it's my kids. Sorry. Hey, Starr. Listen, can we talk later? I'm really in the middle of something.
Starr: Mom, Dad's awake.
Starr: Nate just called from the hospital.
Blair: Todd's out of his coma?
Starr: Yeah, Mom, it looks like Dad's gonna be ok.
Blair: Oh, my God, that's wonderful, sweetheart. He's talking and everything? Oh, that's wonderful.
Dani: Are you sure he was awake? He looks...
Todd: I got you.
Dani: Dad, you scared me!
Téa: Oh, careful.
Dani: I'm sorry.
Todd: That's ok--aah!
Dani: I'm sorry. I can't believe this. You don't know how long I sat here. I talked to you. I read to you. I yelled at you-- thought it might wake you up. I was so mad at you for being such a jerk to Nate, so I'd yell at you, then I'd cry because I missed you so much. How do you do that to people?
Téa: It's your father's very special gift.
Dani: Dad, I love you, and I'm so glad you're still here.
Todd: Me, too.
Dr. Gangemi: I hear somebody woke up.
Todd: Forgot to set the alarm.
Téa: I'll call you, mija, ok? I'll come get you.
Dani: I'll see you later, ok?
Dr. Gangemi: Answers my first question. You can move your hand. How about your other limbs?
Téa: He was trying to get up and get out of here.
Dr. Gangemi: You might want to wait a day or two on that. Now the fun part. What's your name?
Téa: Humor him.
Todd: Todd Manning.
Dr. Gangemi: Do you know the date? That's to be expected. You've been unconscious for about a month and a half.
Todd: I was shot?
Dr. Gangemi: Yes. An abdominal wound. The bullet was removed, but it had done a lot of damage. We repaired most of it, and it seems your body continued to heal while you were unconscious. We still need to check you out. He's stable. We won't know more till we run a few tests.
Téa: Thank you so much, Dr. Gangemi.
Dr. Gangemi: He still needs to rest, believe it or not, so not too much excitement.
Téa: I will make sure to keep him calm.
Todd: I was shot?
Téa: Yeah, but you really don't need to think about that now, ok?
Todd: Yeah, I do. Tell me what happened.
Téa: Listen, ok. All right. I'll tell you what happened. You were in Rodi's. McBain was there. You went out to the parking lot, and that's when it happened.
John's voice: Manning, get down!
Téa: Todd, what is it? Do you remember something?
Gigi: We didn't even get past the driveway. We took one look at each other and said, "This is wrong."
Rex: It doesn't matter if you listen to the tape or we do, it still violates Shane's privacy.
Natalie: No, it doesn't.
Rex: That's not what he'd say or his shrink.
Natalie: No, what I mean is, that is not Shane's therapy session.
Gigi: But it says--
Natalie: I know what it says, but it's labeled wrong or something.
Rex: Good, so you didn't hear Shane spill his guts.
Natalie: No, that is Marty's therapy session, and I was just getting to the good part.
John: I think we need to take it slow.
Marty: 'Cause you're not over Natalie?
John: I didn't say that.
Marty: 'Cause you'd rather by with Kelly? You'd rather be to dinner with Kelly?
John: I canceled with her so I could be here.
Marty: Then what is it?
John: Listen, I think we can make our way back, but we need to start as friends.
Marty: Oh, friends.
John: Yeah, friends. We can go anywhere from there.
Marty: You really think that?
John: Yeah, if we're straight with one another. But if I feel like you're holding something back--
Marty: No, I'm completely here.
John: Good. 'Cause you know, I feel kind of burned from what happened with Natalie. I had this life together, and it was all a lie.
Marty: I'm sorry.
John: Wasn't your fault. It's not like you made it happen. Although, you might have done me a favor if you had.
Marty's voice: I went to the lab when it was closed, and there it was. Proof. Picture-perfect. The baby was John's. My fingers were on the keyboard, and before I realized it, opened the file, deleted... and replaced.
Dr. Buhari: You changed Natalie's lab results? You altered her medical records?
Marty: No, I did make it happen, John.
Natalie: Marty told her doctor that she deserved to be with John after everything she'd done to put an end to me and John.
Gigi: That's weird.
Natalie: Yeah, but what does that mean?
Rex: Who knows. She's crazy, right?
Natalie: Yes, but they released her from the hospital, because she's supposed to be better.
Gigi: Maybe she's still confused.
Natalie: This didn't sound confused.
Rex: What do you think she means?
Natalie: I have no idea, but I'd like to find out. So hit "Play."
Starr: My mom's gonna meet me at the hospital.
James: Ok, let's go. I'll drive.
Starr: I have my car.
James: I've seen you in a high-speed chase, remember? I'll drive. Ok?
Starr: Ok. Are you sure?
James: Yeah. Deanna, is it ok if we finish this later? You can stay here for now, ok?
Deanna: Thanks. I'm really happy for you, Starr. This is great news.
Dani: Thank you so much for finding Starr.
Nate: It's no problem. She should be here soon. Here. You should have something to drink.
Dani: Thanks. You take really good care of me.
Nate: Ah, it's no big deal.
Dani: Yeah, it is a big deal. I don't know what I would have done all this time without you.
Nate: You once pretended to be a lawyer just so you could sit with me in court after Eddie was killed.
Dani: No big deal.
Nate: Yeah, it was. I hated seeing you so scared.
Dani: Me too.
Nate: It was like when your mom was sick. We thought we'd lost her, too.
Dani: Yeah. You think they can just be normal parents for a few months.
Nate: I hope so. Hey, I'm really sorry I suspected your uncle. Forget about it. My dad's awake now. He can tell us what really happened. We can get it cleared up with the police and everything. He can tell them it had nothing to do with my Uncle Tomás.
Blair: Thank God! Todd is back! He totally drives me crazy, but the thought of him gone...I've been thinking about the kids. Oh, Jack! Maybe Todd can deal with Jack now. I'm gonna have him--no, maybe I won't have him talk to Jack about...I gotta go.
Tomás: Of course, you do.
Blair: I'm sorry about before.
Tomás: I'm not. Now I have something to look forward to.
Blair: Me too. Will I see you?
Tomás: Get in the car. I'm driving.
Blair: You don't have to do that.
Tomás: I'd like to check on my sister and my niece--
Tomás: And see how Todd's doing.
Todd: We were in the parking lot at Rodi's. John...he pulled me down.
Todd's voice: What the hell are you doing, man?
John's voice: Someone was lining up a shot at your back.
Todd's voice: Oh, yeah. Now who's being paranoid?
John's voice: Wait!
Todd: Someone shot at us.
Téa: You remember the shot?
Todd: I wasn't hit.
Téa: No, you weren't hit by the first bullet.
Todd: They catch the guy?
Téa: No. John's working on it.
Todd: Do they know who it was?
Téa: No. Do you?
Téa: Todd, did you see who was shooting at you and John?
Starr: Dad! You're really here! Oh, my gosh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. You're back.
Todd: I'm back for good, honey.
Starr: You better be. There's no way I'm going through that again.
Nate: You got here fast.
James: I drove here like it was a getaway car. If I hadn't, I think Starr might have jumped in the driver's seat.
Dani: She's pretty dressed up. Were you guys out on a date or something?
James: Uh...we kind of got sidetracked.
Dani: So my dad ruined your night? He'll be so happy.
James: Actually, our night was already messed up.
Deanna's voice: Time for your break. Mmm! You look good dirty.
James' voice: Hey. Yeah? Well, good. It's all for you.
Deanna's voice: I brought lunch.
James' voice: Mmm, let me see. No, you didn't.
Deanna's voice: One Sicilian special with everything.
James' voice: How did you know?
Deanna's voice: I always know exactly what you want.
James' voice: Come here and show me.
John: You're the reason Natalie and I broke up?
Marty: I contributed to it. It wasn't my fault. I wasn't very nice to her, you know. That's an understatement. Once I had the paternity test, I threatened her all the time.
John: 'Cause you want to tell me the truth.
Marty: I thought you should know Natalie was lying.
John: The truth is always a good thing.
Marty: Natalie didn't think so. That cost her a whole lot of stress and that probably didn't help your relationship.
John: The lying was the problem, not that you knew about it.
Marty: I suppose.
John: So that's it? That's the big thing? Or was there something else about Natalie?
Rex: We can't listen to Marty's session. Forget it.
Natalie: Rex, come on!
Rex: No, we need to get rid of this.
Natalie: Get rid of it?
Rex: Sneak it back into Dr. Buhari's office before she realizes it's missing.
Gigi: Thank you. I feel so horrible for taking it in the first place. It was so wrong on so many levels.
Rex: We'll fix it. No harm, no foul.
Natalie: No one even has to know that I heard it.
Rex: Natty, what do you think you're gonna hear anyway?
Natalie: Maybe what Marty did. She said she caused our breakup. What does that mean?
Rex: Like I said, she's crazy. How can you believe anything she says on this tape?
Natalie: I don't know.
Gigi: You can't.
Rex: Whatever it says, it's not gonna change anything. All it's gonna do is make you even more angry at Marty.
Marty: Why are you so focused on Natalie? I'm not sure you are over her.
John: You know what, you're right. I'll shut up. I don't want to talk about Natalie.
Marty: What do you want?
John: How about dinner?
Starr: Hope really wanted to see you, but I didn't think it was a good idea to bring her here.
Todd: It's ok. I'll be home soon.
Téa: If the doctor says you can go home soon.
Todd: If I say.
Starr: Oh, he's definitely back.
Téa: You're surprised?
Starr: It's like nothing ever happened. You're still on the warpath.
Todd: About what?
Starr: You don't remember when you threatened James and Nate?
Todd: Oh, yes, that.
Starr: Why did I even have to say something? Can we just go back to when you forgot about all of that and let Dani and me date whoever we want to date without making some big fight?
Blair: I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. Heard you're back. I just had to see for myself.
Todd: Can't get rid of me.
Blair: Well, that's good. I'm glad. Really. The boys will be, too. Come on, Starr. We should let Téa have some time. Come on.
Starr: I'll see you later, but don't check out till I see you.
Téa: I won't let him.
Starr: Ok, good.
Blair: There you go.
Téa: Bye, sweetheart.
Blair: I'll bring the boys by, tomorrow, because I know that Jack would really like to see you, ok? Bye. And you will finally get a good night's sleep tonight, I'm sure. Bye.
Starr: Love you, Dad. Bye.
Dani: And then he just opened his eyes. Isn't it amazing?
Tomás: Amazing. How is he?
Blair: He is pretty weak, but he's back.
Starr: Can you believe it? Now we have our dad back.
Dani: Yeah, for now. Someone tried to kill him. What if they come back to finish the job?
Blair: Sweetheart, nobody's gonna let that happen, ok?
Téa: You need to get some rest, Todd.
Todd: I'm done resting.
Téa: Oh, is that so?
Todd: I want to remember.
Téa: Honey, listen, I will call McBain tomorrow. He will come over. We'll figure all this out.
Todd's voice: Who the hell is after you?
John's voice: He was shooting at you, pal.
Todd's voice: No way.
John's voice: Let me tell you something. The line to kill you is twice as long as mine. Up there.
Todd's voice: You see the shooter?
John's voice: No. It had to come from one of those 3rd-floor windows.
Todd: I saw...a window on the 3rd floor.
Téa: What? You saw the gunman? Do you know who it was?
Natalie: Ok, you're right. I shouldn't listen to Marty's therapy session. That would be wrong.
Rex: Your mom's pretty smart. Remember that.
Natalie: But I should take off.
Gigi: Do you still want us to watch Liam while you work?
Natalie: No, I think it's kind of late to go in. I'm gonna head home, and then after I get Liam to sleep, I'm gonna stop by and see Dad. I can drop this off--
Rex: Hey, hey. Nice try.
John: It was great. All my favorites.
Marty: Ah, that was my plan.
John: What plan is that?
Marty: My evil plot to make you happy.
John: We'll have to put an end to that. I should really get going. Thank you for dinner.
Marty: Thank you... for slowing things down. You were right. Take it one step at a time.
Marty: I don't want to ruin this.
John: We just need to be honest with one another.
Marty: We can get it all back, you know? I can make you happy.
Blair: So Mama took Sam to the movies. Jack's with his tutor, and I called Helen to fill her in on Todd. So was your dad talking to you more when you were in there?
Dani: He was trying.
Starr: Oh, I'm sure he'll be talking up a storm in no time.
Todd: I can't tell who it was.
Téa: Ok, then give it a rest, all right?
Todd: Not yet.
Téa: Listen to me. I get it. Some SOB shot at you, took a piece of your life, and you want to understand why. I know exactly what that feels like, but we're not gonna get anything done right now. We're gonna work on this tomorrow. Meanwhile--
Todd: Whoa. What if I forget?
Téa: Ok. Ok. All right. So, I'm gonna walk you through it. You remember the first shot. You say it was from a 3rd-floor window.
Todd: That's what John said.
Téa: Ok, then what happened?
John's voice: Give me your phone. I'll call it in.
Todd's voice: The phone's over there.
John's voice: Keys?
Todd's voice: With the phone.
John's voice: Yeah, that's not good.
Todd's voice: Are we trapped here?
John's voice: No. Can't be. No way I'm dying in this parking lot with you.
Téa: So, what did you do?
Todd: I wanted the keys.
John's voice: Pretty sure if you make a move for those keys, you're dead.
Todd: Then Gigi. That stupid Gigi.
John's voice: Get down. Gigi, listen. Be ready to move, all right?
Gigi's voice: Yeah. What the hell's going on?
John's voice: Listen to me. All right? We're gonna go back the same way you came. You ready? Ok.
Téa: You should have listened to John and stayed put.
Todd: Then I'd be a target.
Dani: I didn't really hear the doctor.
Blair: You know what, let's go find him. I'm sure we all have questions. I want some answers, too.
Shaun: The nurse can page him.
Blair: Oh, thanks, Shaun. We'll be right back.
Tomás: I'll be here. He's awake. I don't know yet. He just started talking, but I will find out.
Nate: Who do you think he called?
Shaun: Good question.
Téa: You were still a target when you moved, only then you were out in the open. Isn't that when you were hit, when you went for your keys?
Todd: Probably, yeah, but I didn't feel it.
Todd: I saw him...in the window.
Téa: You saw someone in the window? You saw the gunman?
Todd: Now I remember.
John: You always make me happy.
Marty: I'm not just talking about dinner. I know that there's a hole in your heart, and I can make it better. I can...I can make up for the baby you lost.
John: I don't think anybody can do that. Don't you mean the baby we lost?
Natalie: Rex, it's not a problem. I told you. It's easier for me to sneak in at night.
Rex: Right, after you listened to the tape.
Natalie: Right. I told you it doesn't matter. It's not like anyone's gonna know that I listened to it.
Gigi: You would.
Natalie: I can live with that.
Gigi: What do you think you're gonna hear?
Rex: Besides, who cares what she says about John? He's not worth it.
Rex: I'm serious, Natty. He's treated you like dirt. He went after Kelly when she was all vulnerable. He fired Gigi. That's 3 strikes.
Natalie: It's not baseball.
Rex: McBain doesn't deserve you.
Gigi: What he said.
Rex: You just need to forget him.
Natalie: You're right. Why didn't I think of that?
Gigi: I know it's not easy, but that tape will just make it worse.
Natalie: Ok. You win. I won't listen to it.
Natalie: You're absolutely right. Nothing on that tape is gonna bring John back or make everything right.
Marty: Right. The baby we lost. John, I can be whatev-- anything is possible, like you said.
John: Yeah. Good night.
Tomás: Hey, there. Everything ok?
Blair: Oh, it's better than ok. My kids finally have their father back, which is great for them and good for us.
Téa: Todd, are you saying you saw a person in the window? You saw the person who shot you. Can you describe them? Do you know what they look like?
Todd: It's your brother. Tomás.
On the next "One Life to Live..."
Cutter: You left Clint to die on the floor.
Ford: I will commit Tess to St. Ann's.
Aubrey: Clint is on to me.
Blair: I can't believe he's awake.
Todd: Your brother tried to kill me.
John: Why does the CIA have a classified file on Delgado?
