Bo: This is it.

Rex: Are you sure?

Bo: Definitely. This is the room.

Rex: No, no. I don't mean, is it the right room? I mean, is this the right place on earth?

Bo: Balsom, you--

Rex: No, I'm just saying, it doesn't seem too likely that Clint would move David Vickers to a cushy island paradise after keeping him locked up in that hellish Moroccan prison.

Bo: Don't let all these palm trees fool you, Balsom. There are worse prisons than that one we saw in Morocco. There are worse jailers, too.

[Cell phone rings]

Woman: Greetings from St. Blaze's.

Clint: Greetings from Llanview.

Woman: Clint Buchanan. To what do I owe the pleasure?

Clint: You know damn well why I'm calling.

Woman: Oh, yes, to reminisce about the good old days.

Clint: to discuss our deal. Don't make me regret throwing in with you, Alex.

Alex: Regret? Please. Asa Buchanan never regretted one d that he was married to me, and neither did the people of Llanview when they elected me their mayor.

Clint: Alex!

Alex: Did Todd Manning regret me donating my precious bone marrow to save his son's life, his daughter's life? How is Starr, anyway? Driving all the boys mad, I bet.

James: Hello?

Starr: It's quiet in here.

James: I know. It's too quiet. Bobby, Langston! Tess.

Starr: Nobody's home.

James: I know. Oh, hey, this is from Bobby. "Took Ryder to see Inez."

Starr: Well, that's a good sign, right?

James: I don't know. I just hope he was able to ship Tess off to St. Ann's.

Starr: Yeah, that's where Jessica can finally get the help that she needs.

James: Yeah, and so Bobby and Langston can finally relax and be happy. Of course, not as happy as we are.

Starr: Maybe, but I could be a little more relaxed.

James: Why?

Starr: I'm constantly looking over my shoulder.

James: For what?

Starr: My Dad. I feel that at any second, he is going to bust down that door and tear us apart.

Dr. Gangemi: We're losing him! His B.P.'s dropping.

Nurse: I can't feel his femoral, either.

Dr. Gangemi: It looks like V-tach. Start CPR. I'll drop a tube.

Dani: Oh, my God, Mom. Oh, my God.

Téa: Mija, listen to me. He's going to be fine. He's going to be fine.

Dani: He looks so bad, Mom. He looks so bad!

Téa: I know. I know. But he's been hurt before lots times, and he always comes back with a vengeance. He will this time, too.

Dani: I just don't understand. Why did this happen? Who would try to kill Dad?

Tomás: Yes. I'm calling about the condition of a patient.

Nurse: I'm sorry. That information is for family only.

Tomás: I am family. The patient's my brother-in-law Todd Manning.

Nurse: Todd Manning was admitted with a gunshot wound.

Tomás: What are the extent of his injuries?

Nurse: I can only say that he's being treated right now.

Tomás: Can you at least tell me his prognosis? I have to know if Todd's going to live or die.

Blair: Tomás?

Téa: I don’t know why any of this happened, but it did, okay? The important thing now is to remember that your dad is tough. He is gonna make it. All right?

Dani: Mom, what's going on?

Téa: I don't know.

Dani: What's going on?

Téa: Dani, wait! Wait!

Dr. Gangemi: Get all the fluid running on a pressure bag. I need volume. Hang more blood. Come on, or we're gonna lose him.

James: Then just believe me, okay? Just really believe me when I say that no matter what your dad pulls on us, we can deal with it. What? What, you don't think so?

Starr: I just want to make sure that--that you know what you're getting yourself into.

James: Gotten into, and yes, I know, but I don't care. Besides, judging from the looks of it, your dad has bigger fish to fry right now, like your sister.

Dani: Oh, Mom. What's going on? Is he going to be okay?

Dr. Gangemi: The bullet must have hit something big. He's pouring out. Get the paddles on him. Set the biphasic to 150. Keep that blood going.

Dani: Please save my dad!

Blair: I didn't realize you were on the phone.

Tomás: Sorry. Thank you very much for your help. I'm surprised to see you.

Blair: Well, I'm surprised to see you here. I thought you'd want to be as far away from Todd as possible.

Tomás: Some things can't be avoided.

Blair: You guys didn't get into another tussle, did you? Because I know that he would probably end up being the worse for it, and I need him in one piece.

Tomás: Blair, why don't you sit down? We need to talk.

Blair: Listen, Tomás, I know what you're going to say, and I don't think I could be any clearer--

Tomás: No, it's not that, Blair.

Blair: Listen, you are a wonderful man, actually quite amazing, but I just don't feel that I'm ready to start seeing anyone--I mean, not even you yet, and that's not why I'm here, actually. I wanted to talk to Todd about our son Jack, so is he upstairs?

Tomás: Todd isn't here.

Blair: Do you know where he is? Because this actually can't wait.

Tomás: It's gonna have to wait.

Blair: I need you to let this go, Tomás, all right? I--

Tomás: Todd's at the hospital.

Nurse: Charge to 150. Everybody all clear? Shocking.

Dani: Do something!

Dr. Gangemi: Will somebody get them out of here?

Nurse: We're doing everything we can.

Dani: Please.

Dr. Gangemi: Bring that pressure back now! Biphasic to 300. Shock when clear.

Nurse: Shocking.

Rex: How dangerous is this Alex Olanov?

Bo: Well, she tried to drown Dorian's daughter Cassíe, among other things.

Rex: You really think Clint would turn to this woman for help?

Bo: At this point, I wouldn't put anything past my brother.

Rex: Okay, well, so what's our game plan? If Clint and this Alex person are working together, I'm sure he's warned her that we're coming.

Bo: That's why I'm going to go it alone, Balsom.

Rex: I appreciate your concern for me--

Bo: No, no. I'm concerned about David. He's running out of time. Understand? Now, I want you to search the island. I'll distract Alex. But you make it fast, all right? I'm not sure how long I can keep her tied up.

Rex: How do you plan on doing that?

Bo: Any way I have to.

Clint: Don't fail me, Alex, or you're gonna end up with one less island.

Alex: Nigel gave me this island.

Clint: One word from me, Nigel will take it back.

[Knock on door]

Clint: So if you want to continue living in this island paradise of yours, you deal with Bo the way we agreed. Are we clear?

Clint: Answer me.

Alex: We'll have to pick this up later. I have a visitor.

Clint: Is it Bo?

Alex: You bet.

Clint: Alex!

Nigel: Ahem. Your bourbon, sir.

Clint: Yes. Thank you, Nigel.

Nigel: Will that be all?

Clint: Yeah. I'm working late, so you can call it a night.

Nigel: Very well.

Clint: Is there something else?

Nigel: I beg your pardon, sir, but I couldn't help hearing a portion of your conversation when I entered. It sounded as though you were using the island of St. Blaze's to leverage some action from Ms. Olanov?

Clint: You have a problem with that?

Nigel: As a matter of fact, I do.

Alex: You look absolutely marvelous.

Bo: Thanks.

Alex: Is Nora with you?

Bo: Uh, no.

Alex: That must be why. Come on in. I have a piña colada with your name on it.

Bo: Alex, this isn't a social call. I'm looking for my son. He's missing.

Alex: Someone made off with Matthew?

Bo: No, it's not Matthew. It's my other son--David. But you already knew that, didn't you?

Guard: How's our guest?

Second Guard: He was mad.

Guard: I gagged him.

First Guard: Pretty soon we won't have to listen to him at all. The boss lady is almost done with him.

Starr: Are you saying that you would prefer my Dad go after Dani and Nate than us?

James: Jeez, you make it sound so cold.

Starr: No, seriously, though. Do you think I'm just going to sit around and let my dad do to Dani or anyone else what he did to me? I'm not going to do that.

James: I know. I know, okay? And I'm going to be right here by your side helping you stop him, okay?

Starr: What, you're going to be my sidekick?

James: Don't ask me to wear tights, all right? And I think the coast is clear, at least for a while. Looks like Dani's mom has got the situation under control.

James: And hopefully she got through to your dad and convinced him that if he doesn't change his ways, he's gonna lose everything.

Starr: Maybe, but others have tried and failed. And I do hope that you're right. I mean, all things considered, we have been pretty lucky so far.

James: Yeah, and our luck just keeps getting better.

Starr: How do you figure?

James: Well, I mean, take a listen. What do you hear?

Starr: Nothing.

James: Exactly. No baby crying, no Todd yelling, no Tess harping, no Bobby moaning and groaning. It's just me and you, and the only thing that we can hear is this.

Blair: Something happened to Dani or Téa?

Tomás: No. They're fine. It's Todd. He's been shot.

Blair: Shot? How bad is it?

Tomás: I don't know. I was on the phone with the hospital when you got here.

Blair: What did they say?

Tomás: They said they're treating his injuries.

Blair: Do--does Téa know? Does Dani?

Tomás: Yeah. I was here when they got the call. They left. They're at the hospital now.

Blair: What are the police saying? Do they know who did it?

Téa: Hey, don't get quiet on me now. Talk to me. Tell me what you're thinking. Come on.

Dani: I'm thinking Dad's such an idiot.

Téa: Yeah. He's had his moments.

Dani: I'm worse.

Téa: Why would you say that?

Dani: I shouldn't... the way I ran off with Nate. I shouldn't have done that. I should have kept talking to Dad. I should--I should have figured things out.

Téa: Sweetheart, your father doesn't always make it easy, does he?

Dani: One of us could have been grown up about it, but I acted like a baby. I--I acted like Dad was just something getting in the way of what I wanted, and he's not.

Téa: I know, mija. I know, and so does he. Come here. Come here.

Blair: I got to get out of here.

Tomás: No, Blair. Why don't you sit down?

Blair: I need to get to the hospital and find out what's going on with Todd. I can't just sit around here and wait. I just--oh, my God, my kids. They don't know. I got to--I'm gonna call Starr.

James: Okay, okay. Note to self: Never wait too long before we do that again--gosh--or we might explode.

Starr: It's not like we held out on purpose. We barely had two seconds together ever since we made it official.

James: I know. Seriously, if it's not your Dad running around chasing Dani and Nate, then it's Bobby dealing with Langston and Tess and the baby.

Starr: We haven't even been on a date, and I mean a real date.

James: Okay, well, I guess it's time we change that.

Starr: It's a little late for that.

James: Oh, well, it's a good thing that Chez Fordolini is always open.

Starr: Wait. Get out. You cook?

James: Um, no. I dabble. When I was younger, my Dad used to just plop down a can of ravioli in front of me, so I had to take matters into my own hands sooner or later. Do you like Italian?

Starr: Who doesn't?

James: Well, good. How about guanciale?

Starr: Uh...

James: How do you feel about it?

Starr: I feel positive. What is it?

James: It's good. Trust me.

Starr: I do trust you.

[Cell phone rings]

James: Oh. Ooh. Hold on. Sorry. One second. Hello? Yes, she's here. Is your phone off?

Starr: I'm avoiding my Dad. It's not him, is it?

James: No. It's your Mom. Guess she's been trying to reach you.

Starr: Mom, what's going on?

Téa: How is he?

Dr. Gangemi: He's stable, but he's still critical. The bullet punctured his stomach and injured his pancreas, which caused a critical amount of bleeding. He went into hemorrhagic shock, which led to cardiac arrest. That's why we had to call the code team in. We're prepping him for the O.R. right now.

Téa: Oh, so he needs surgery?

Dr. Gangemi: Just to repair any damage and tie off any internal bleeding.

Dani: Is he going to be okay?

Dr. Gangemi: It's touch and go. Everything's going to depend on what happens in the O.R.

Téa: Okay. Can we see him now?

Dr. Gangemi: Yes, but he's still not conscious, and you're going to have to be brief. We're taking him to the O.R. soon.

Dani: Thank you.

Téa: Listen, you don't have to go inside, okay?

Dani: No, I'm coming.

Téa: Okay. Come on.

[Heart monitor beeping]

Guard: Keep an eye out for a package. Ms. Olanov had it sent over.

Second Guard: Not more items?

First Guard: She's going all out to keep our guest entertained.

Second Guard: At least until it's time to put him out of his misery.

Rex: Vickers has got to be in there. How do I get past security? How do I get him out of there—

Messenger: Excuse me? I got a little turned around. I'm looking for room 606.

Rex: Right this way.

Nigel: Sir, I have always done my best to avoid involving myself in the family's affairs.

Clint: And your discretion is appreciated and very well compensated.

Nigel: For which I am likewise appreciative. However, it is the very compensation that is at the root of my concern. St. Blaze's was a gift to me, a gift from Mr. Asa Buchanan to do with as I saw fit.

Clint: I remember that, yes. And my family and I are very happy that you were so generous.

Nigel: At the time, Ms. Olanov was threatening to identify David Vickers as a Buchanan to usurp the family fortune. Buying her off with St. Blaze's was my only means of protecting the family from the menace I perceived him to be.

Clint: Yes, but if I should ask you to help me to get St. Blaze's back from Alex, it's because I'm protecting the family, as well.

Nigel: With all due respect, sir, are you trying to protect the family or yourself?

Rex: I don't know you. You don't know me.

Rex: All right. Let's see what Alex has planned for David. What are they gonna do? Torture him? Oh, my God, they're gonna hang him.

Alex: Oh, no. He was kidnapped to Morocco on his wedding day to Dorian?

Bo: This isn't funny, Alex.

Alex: It's not? It's not. I, for one, can't believe that Clint would sink so low. What do you think happened to David after he vanished from Morocco?

Bo: I think you happened to him.

Alex: I don't have anything against my ex-husband.

Bo: Don't play me, Alex. When I was in Morocco, I turned up one lead--one name. Olanov.

Alex: There are many Olanov's.

Bo: Yeah, but there's only one who Clint has a hold over.

Alex: Clint has nothing on me.

Bo: Well, there's St. Blaze's. I bet that he threatened to make Nigel take all of this away from you if you didn't play ball.

Alex: I can't believe that you would think I was capable of doing something so dastardly to your son. This is me you're talking to, Bo--Alex.

Bo: I know who I'm talking to, and that's why I'm afraid for my son. And it's also why I think that you'll come clean. You and I cared for each other once.

Alex: I still do.

Bo: Then tell me where David is.

Alex: I wish I could help you.

Bo: Look, I know that Clint's got you over a barrel, but I can protect you, Alex, and I can give you something that Clint can't.

Alex: What's that?

Bo: This.

Clint: And what do you think I need to protect myself from, Nigel?

Nigel: Prosecution?

Clint: Really? For what?

Nigel: I can't be sure and I don't wish to find out. But it has been my personal experience that anyone who resorts to conspiring with Ms. Olanov is usually cornered, desperate, and prepared to do anything.

Bo: Do you remember that?

Alex: Like it was yesterday. I don't understand. You're a married man.

Bo: And I'm a father. And I'm desperate to save my son.

Alex: And that's what I am to you? A means to an end?

Bo: No, you're more. Alex, you're much more.

Alex: You chose Cassíe over me.

Bo: But I came back here. I came back to you. You are the only one who can give me what I want.

Alex: And in return? Do I get what I want?

Guard: No unauthorized personnel.

Rex: Oh, I'm authorized. I have a delivery for the person in this room from Ms. Olanov.

Guard: I'll take it in.

Rex: Sorry--I have explicit instructions to deliver it personally.

Guard: I'll have to check with Ms. Olanov.

Bo: What is it you want?

Alex: Well, you're a cop. Why don't I give you a clue?

Bo: Alex, whoa. What's your hurry? Listen, we've waited this long. Let's make this really special.

Alex: What did you have in mind?

Bo: Well...what about the drink that you offered me a while ago?

Alex: Oh, alcohol just dulls the senses.

Bo: Maybe I should put on some music.

Alex: I don't need any music. I want you to make me purr.

Bo: I can't wait to hear you purr. But I think what I really need right now is a shower.

Alex: Oh. Well, I think that's a wonderful idea, and we'll do that after. I'll join you.

Bo: Alex, Alex, I had a long, hard flight. I tell you, I must smell like--

Alex: A man.

Bo: Alex.

Alex: Your raw animal musk makes me crazy.

[Cell phone ringing]

Alex: I wonder who that could be. Looks like it's security calling. Gee, what could they want, though?

Nigel: I'm talking about this business with Eddie Ford, sir.

Clint: And what do you know about that?

Nigel: The other day, one of the staff overheard an argument between you and Master Joey. It is said he accused you of being behind Miss Nora's abduction, not to mention her troubles with your brother... and Mr. Ford's murder.

Clint: I see, and you think I'm guilty, too?

Nigel: To be honest, sir, I don't know if you're guilty or not. I am certain of only one thing. If any part of Master Joey's assertion is true, then you have lost your way... and your father would be ashamed of you.

Blair: I'm gonna get over to the hospital. Starr's probably there now.

Tomás: You know what? I'll take you.

Blair: You don't have to.

Tomás: Yes, I do. I should be there for my sister and my niece.

Blair: Oh. Of course. Yes. Yes. Tomás, thank you so much for just helping me keep my feet on the ground.

Tomás: Anytime.

Blair: Is something wrong?

Tomás: Nope. Nothing at all. Let's go.

Blair: Okay.

Téa: Believe it or not, I've seen him look worse.

Dani: He looks cold.

Téa: Well, let's warm him up, okay? Your father and I, we used to do this for Starr when the 3 of us lived together. He was very specific about the way she liked it. Ha ha! Yeah, just like that. And then when you were a little baby, I did this for you.

Dani: You did?

Téa: Yeah. Even though I kept you and your father apart, there was a small part of him that was always with you.

Dani: I want all of him with me, even the part that makes me mad, gives Nate and me a hard time. You hear that, Dad? Just come back and I'll give you a free pass. You can be a jerk whenever you want. I won't run away again.

Téa: Hey. You. Listen to your daughter, and listen to me. We didn't come back to you so you could leave us now, so get off your ass... and come back to us, all right?

Starr: Dad.

[Cell phone ringing]

Alex: Honestly. Good help is so hard to find these days.

Bo: Don't answer that.

Alex: Oh!

Guard: Ms. Olanov isn't answering, and you're not on the list for entry.

Rex: Yeah, no problem. If you could just sign off that you got everything on the invoice.

Guard: One set handcuffs. [Handcuffs clatter] One cord of nylon rope.

Rex: Check.

Guard: One Taser.

Rex: Check.

Clint: What the hell do you know about what my father would think about me?

Nigel: I knew that Asa Buchanan held his son to exacting standards and that by the end of his life, you and your brother had by far exceeded them. He was so tremendously proud of the men you had become. You had both inherited and improved upon his best traits and shed his worst ones.

Alex: Why, Bo, I had no idea you could be so forceful. I like it.

Nigel: Mr. Buchanan believed he had raised better sons than his father had. And still he worried about you. And before the end came, he asked me to look after you and your brother Bo.

Clint: Did he?

Nigel: I told him he was leaving his legacy in good hands with his sons. Now I fear I was wrong, and he was right to have reservations...at least insofar as you're concerned, sir.

Clint: Thank you, Nigel. That will be all.

Nigel: No one blames you for being hurt by your brother Bo and Nora's transgression. But the animosity you have held onto, it's--pardon my saying-- not very Buchanan of you. Despite your differences, your brother Bo and you are still family. By now even your father would have let go. I hope you will be able to. And soon. Before it's too late.

Starr: Dani. How's Dad?

Téa: He needs surgery. You should go see him now, Estrella, because they're gonna take him out any second to go to the O.R., okay?

James: I'm not going anywhere, okay?

Blair: Téa. Téa, Téa. I'm so sorry, honey. I stopped by the house to talk to Todd and Tomás was there and he told me everything.

Tomás: What I knew, anyway.

Blair: So what are the doctors saying?

Téa: There's been a lot of damage and he's lost a lot of blood. They're gonna take him to the O.R. now to fix him up.

Blair: How did this happen?

Téa: We don't know. We don't know. But don't worry because John is on the case.

Blair: Good. Then it's just a matter of time.

Tomás: Who's John?

Blair: He's--John McBain. FBI--former FBI. He's chief of detectives here.

Téa: So whoever did this to Todd, John will find him, and when he does, I'm gonna make sure that son of a bitch fries.

Blair: You and me both.

Starr: This isn't fair. Every time you do something horrible, something even more horrible goes and happens to you. And you make it impossible for me to be mad at you. It doesn't matter how much you deserve it. You always deserve it. But I can't stay mad at you, not when you're like this. So you can't stay like this. You can't. I don't like you like this. I like it when you are angry and crazy and awful and yelling. I love you that way. And I love yelling back at you. So pull yourself together and come back and be awful, Dad. So we can all yell at each other. Please?

Dr. Gangemi: Excuse me. It's time.

Blair: So how's Daddy look?

Starr: Not too bad for a guy who's been shot. I wouldn't want to be the one who crossed him, because when he wakes up...

Téa: Because when he wakes up, nothing. We're gonna make a pact right here, right now that when he wakes up, we're not gonna let him do anything stupid or insane.

Tomás: Sounds like a smart idea to me.

Téa: Oh, I'm sorry. You guys don't know each other. Starr, this is Tomás--my brother. Tomás, this is Starr, my stepdaughter and James, her friend. Hey, James.

Tomás: Hi. I'm sorry we have to meet under these circumstances.

Starr: So am I.

Dani: Dad.

Blair: Todd, don't you screw this up. You come back now. You've got so many people here depending on you--all your kids and Téa. So come on. Hang in there. Don't leave these people hanging. Come on.

Dr. Gangemi: It's time to go.

Dani: Come back so you can yell at me, please.

Starr: So I can yell at you.

Téa: Just come back, Todd. Come back. We'll be waiting.

Clint's voice: Do you think Pa would let it slide if someone did to him what you did to me?

Bo voice: Pa could be a cruel, petty man. And he did some rotten things to both you and me but nothing ever this low. Because he had a heart way down deep somewhere, and it was small, and it was as hard as a rock, but it kept him in check. It kept him a Buchanan.

Clint's voice: What do you know about being a Buchanan?

Bo's voice: I know the minute that you went after Nora and my son, your family--my family--that's when you stopped being a Buchanan. That's when you gave up your name. So you're not one of us anymore. Right now, you are nothing.

Nigel: My apologies for the interruption, sir. I just came to say good-bye.

Alex: You just wait. I am gonna rock your world.

Bo: Not if I rock yours first.

[Cell phone buzzes]

[Door closes]

Clint: What are you doing?

Nigel: Tendering my resignation. I feel it's no longer appropriate to remain in your employ.

Clint: Because you feel you spoke out of turn?

Nigel: Because I made your father a promise, and I failed.

Clint: Nigel, Bo and I are grown men. You no longer need to be a guardian to us, no matter how much my pa browbeat you.

Nigel: Nevertheless...

Clint: Nevertheless nothing. Your resignation is not accepted, and duty demands that you stay. You made a promise to Asa Buchanan, didn't you? So you can't just cut and run, not now, when I need you the most.

Nigel: Another bourbon, sir?

Clint: Thank you, Nigel.

Bo: Balsom?

Rex: It's me! It's me!

Bo: Why the hell are you sneaking up on me?

Rex: Sorry! I had to stash the guard. He had-- the less you know.

Bo: The better. Right.

Rex: What happened to you?

Bo: Never mind. Where's David?

Rex: I think he's locked in this room. There's no sound coming from inside.

Bo: Get back.

[Cell phone ringing]

Alex: Don't call me anymore.

Clint: I assure you, this is the last time we will ever speak to each other. I've been thinking about our plan.

Alex: Don't bother. It's done.

Clint: What?

Alex: I did what you asked. Bo is about to find out what happened to his son.

Bo: Oh, my God!

Bo: David? David!

David: Hi, pa! That's my pa.

On the next "One Life to Live"...

James: What's your nickname?

Starr: I have two of them.

Blair: What are you doing?

Jack: Come on in.

Brody: Unless you want to take a shot at me, I've got nothing else to give you.
