David: Oh, why can I never remember? Liquor then beer, you're in the clear. I wonder if we have any beer.
Viki: We're here.
Viki: Okay. Hello? Anybody home? Jessie!
Jessica: Hi! Haven't you two done enough relaxing?
Charlie: After what David and Dorian put us through, we deserve another month off. Mwah.
Jessica: Well, I'm just so happy that you guys are back.
Viki: Oh, me, too, darling. Oh, it's so good to see you. So tell us. What did we miss? Ah? What's been going on while we were away?
Cop: Eli Clarke is back at the Palace.
Cop: He just picked up his mail at the front desk.
John: Okay. So he was out at the time that Cris was attacked and the Thompson file was stolen.
Cop: Yeah. What should we do next?
John: I'm gonna call around. I'm gonna see if Eli has got an alibi.
John: Hey, Murph. If Natalie calls, put her right through, okay? I need to know if she turned anything up.
Natalie: Brody, I'm pregnant.
Brody: I'm sorry. What did you say?
Natalie: I'm pregnant.
Brody: Oh. Uh...
Natalie: You okay?
Brody: Yeah, yeah. I'm just surprised.
Natalie: Yeah. I was, too.
Brody: And this baby, it's John's, right, not mine?
Rex: John, I'm glad you're here. I need to talk to you.
John: Kelly sent you. I'm gonna tell you the same thing that I told her. Drop the Bennett Thompson investigation.
Kelly: You're a lifesaver. Thank you.
Téa: Guys, I'm sorry, but I don't have it in me to go another round, all right?
Todd: We're not gonna argue with you.
Dani: No. All we want-- we just want to say good-bye.
Téa: That's all?
Todd: Yeah. That's all, but if you'd like us to put up a fight, we'd be happy to oblige you.
Téa: Please, please, please don't put up a fight, okay? It's better this way. I need to go to hospice by myself.
Todd: No. It's not better this way. You're wrong about that, and no matter how much you try to convince me, you never will. You shouldn't be dying alone.
Todd: Eh, but we love you, so, wrong or not, we're not gonna stand in your way.
[Cell phone rings]
Eli: Hey, Blair, long time, no see. Actually, I just got back to the Palace. Yeah. I had to get out of the office for a while. Oh, I was starting to feel kind of trapped.
John: Here on out, you, Kelly, everyone else, leave the investigating to us.
John: I'm serious.
Rex: No. So am I. Ever since Bennett Thompson paid me a visit in Boston and drugged me without me even seeing him, I was just lucky to get out of there alive.
John: You should be. You got lucky.
Rex: Don't get me wrong. I like adventure just as much as the next guy, but I got a kid to think about. You know what I mean. Sorry. I guess you don't know, do you?
Brody: You're pregnant. Are you sure this isn't one of those sympathetic twin things?
Natalie: I had a blood test done and then redone.
Brody: Okay, but Jessica is pregnant, too. We're gonna be a family.
Natalie: Yeah. I'm well aware of that.
Brody: And you and me, we only slept together that one time.
Natalie: Brody, that is all it takes, okay? We were hammered, and we were heartbroken. We weren't exactly thinking about protection.
Brody: So are you saying this baby is mine?
Natalie: I don't know. I don't know anything. I mean, the truth is, this baby could just as easily be yours as it could be John’s.
Viki: So tell us everything that happened while we were away. Come on. What have we missed?
Jessica: Oh, it was pretty quiet, except there was this one little thing.
Jessica: You guys should sit down for this.
Viki: Everything all right?
Jessica: Everything is great--sit--better than great, actually.
Charlie: Well, don't keep us in suspense.
Jessica: Here it goes. Mom, Charlie--
David: Well, well, well, well, well, look who's here. Didn't think you two would have the guts to show your faces around here again.
Viki: David, this is our house. We live here.
David: Oh, so then you heard Jessica is pregnant.
Téa: Thank you, guys, for understanding.
Dani: We don't understand.
Téa: Okay, okay. I'm sorry. Thank you for not understanding and granting me this wish, anyway. I know you don't think this is the case, but I'm trying to make this easier on you.
Dani: You're not.
Téa: Okay. Listen. I--
Todd: Why don't we just drop the whole thing, okay?
Téa: Let's drop it, okay? Let's just drop it. There is one thing, Todd, you need to know.
Dani: Oh, I don't think I can take any more.
Téa: It's not, relatively speaking, bad news. Todd, I have asked Blair to be Dani's legal guardian.
Todd: What the hell are you talking about?
Téa: In case you can't do it. Blair cares about you. She loves you. I gave her a book on all things Daniella, so in case something happens, she'll know what to do.
Todd: Nothing is gonna happen. She's not gonna lose me.
Dani: You can't say that. You don't know that for sure.
Todd: Well, no. I do. Here and now, I promise I'm gonna do my best to make sure you never lose me or anyone else you care about, for that matter.
Dani: I don't even know how to say good-bye to my mom.
Téa: Neither do I, but we'll figure it out together, okay?
David: Miss a day, miss a lot, huh, Viki?
Viki: Jessie, is this true?
David: Of course, Jessica is not the only one with great news.
Charlie: What, you're pregnant, too?
David: I'm in love. Her name is Mandy, and she's smoking hot.
Viki: That's very nice, David. I want to talk about Jessica.
David: Did you also hear that hell froze over? Clint and Dori are back together, too.
Charlie: Look, David. I realize you're hungover.
David: If you realize that, you wouldn't be screaming.
Viki: Oh, sweetheart, I can't believe it!
David: Why can't you believe it? Maybe it's just me, but fertile Phoebe over there seems to be pregnant every other year. I mean, when are you gonna start sharing the stage? Poor cousin Natalie, she needs her turn in the spotlight, too, you know?
Brody: Oh, I can't believe this is happening.
Natalie: Yeah. I know.
Brody: Jessica and I just got back together. We're gonna have a baby of our own. We're gonna get married. I can't have a baby with her and another one with her twin sister.
Natalie: Whoa. We don't know anything for sure.
Brody: Except that we can't be sure either way, right?
Natalie: It'll be a few months before we can get a paternity test.
Brody: How long have you known?
Natalie: I found out when Jessica did.
Brody: That's why you were sick. Why didn't you say anything?
Natalie: Because I was still trying to wrap my mind around all of this, okay, and I didn't tell you because obviously you had a lot going on.
Brody: Well, if you were worried about how I'd handle it, why tell me at all?
Natalie: Because when I was done freaking out, Gigi made me realize I couldn't keep this from you.
Brody: Gigi knows?
Natalie: Yes, Brody. I needed someone to confide in who wasn't gonna tell John or Jess or my mom or Roxy. Come on. Gigi is not gonna say anything to anyone, not even Rex.
Rex: Wow. I am so sorry.
John: Forget about it.
Rex: Just so you know, I'm also sorry about the way things went down in Boston, too. I hope this hasn't thrown a wrench in your investigation.
John: From here on out, I think I'll keep the details to myself.
Rex: I understand. I'll just stick to tracking down birth parents from now on.
John: That's a good idea. You're still here. Is there something else?
Rex: Yeah. I didn't come here to talk about Bennett Thompson. I came here to talk about Natalie.
John: What about her?
Rex: Have you noticed anything weird with her lately?
John: She's always a little weird. That's one of the things I like about her.
Rex: Weirder than usual, because I think it's pretty obvious that something is up with her.
John: No. I hadn't noticed anything.
Rex: Really? Is that because you don't think anything is wrong or because you've been too busy with the Bennett Thompson case to notice?
Eli: I actually have a few more things I need to finish up here. Yeah. I'm gonna be working from the Palace for the rest of the day. Sure would love to see you later, though. Everything okay over there? Is jack still going on about how I'm some kind of crazed murderer? Oh, of course he's freaked out. I'm about to be his new stepdad. What kid wants that? It's okay. I promise I'm gonna talk to that Jack, and I'm gonna get him to see the real me. Ha ha ha! He really has a wild imagination.
Eli: Jack couldn't be more wrong about me.
Téa: Oh, I feel like I've cried so much, I don't want to cry anymore, okay? Let's not cry anymore, all right, please?
Todd: All right.
Téa: I don't want to leave with you guys feeling this way, feeling bad.
Dani: I don't think there's any other way.
Todd: Oh, man, I have to kick some ass.
Téa: Todd, don’t. I don't know what you have in mind, but I don't think it's appropriate.
Todd: No. It's totally appropriate to kick someone's ass, humiliate them, make them feel bad about themselves. Who's up for it?
Dani: You like money honey?
Todd: I'm the champion.
Téa: You're not serious, are you?
Todd: I'm always serious about schooling someone.
Dani: No, no, no, no, no. I rock this game. You're gonna be the one getting schooled.
Todd: Big words.
Dani: How about big game?
Téa: She got it from her mama.
Todd: All right. So would either of you chicks care to put your money, your money honey, where your mouths are, hmm?
Dani: I call banker.
Todd: No. I'm the banker.
Dani: Right. Like you can be trusted around money.
Todd: Like mother, like daughter, eh?
Viki: David, perhaps you should bypass the bar temporarily.
David: I didn't go to law school.
Viki: Abstain from imbibing.
David: My teeth are stained? Where?
Viki: Oh, David, for heaven's sakes, quit drinking for a while.
David: Absolutely not. It's a lot fewer calories than food.
Jessica: He's been like this for days.
David: And why shouldn't I be? Life is a big bowl of suck.
Jessica: Yours is maybe.
David: There's no point to it. You're born. Then you start losing definition, and you die. Hey, did you hear that, little one? You stay in there as long as you can because once you get squeezed out, it's all downhill from there.
Charlie: David, just step away from the baby, huh?
David: I am telling it like it is. Somebody has got to.
Viki: David! Look. I don't know what you and Dorian have done to each other this time, but that is absolutely no excuse for this boorish behavior! Now, unless you can get over it and be happy for Jessica, I suggest you take your misery elsewhere!
David: Like another wing?
Charlie: Like another zip code.
Jessica: Or solar system.
Viki: Don't you have something to say?
David: You're right. You're absolutely right. Jessica, this baby--this miracle, this gift-- is it Brody's?
Brody: Look, Natalie, I'm sorry. I overreacted.
Natalie: I'm not sure if that's possible in this situation.
Brody: Yeah, but I acted like you'd done something to me, and the truth is, you wouldn't be in this mess if it wasn't for me. It's not your fault.
Natalie: Yeah. You're right. Thank you for that, but it doesn't change the fact that there are two people that this could really devastate.
Brody: I know. We have to think about Jessica and John. It's up to us to make sure they don't get hurt.
Natalie: And we don't really have a lot of options.
Brody: I know, and I want you to know, whatever you decide, I won't leave you hanging.
Natalie: Thanks, but you don't have to do anything. I've already decided. I'm keeping this baby.
John: Well, you know, I'd like to think that no matter how many cases I was working, if there was something wrong with Natalie, I'd know.
Rex: See, that's what I thought. So what's wrong with her?
Natalie's voice: I'm pregnant. And you're okay with not telling anyone?
John's voice: For Jess and Brody's sake.
Natalie's voice: At least in the first trimester or until at least I start to show. It's cool, right? It's our little secret?
John: Nothing's wrong, Rex.
Rex: Come on. John, Natalie has been a bundle of nerves for weeks now, okay, and it's getting worse. And for some reason, she's confiding in Gigi rather than her own brother.
John: Maybe you should ask Gigi.
Rex: I did. She won't tell me.
John: Then maybe it's private.
Rex: Natty and I don't keep secrets from each other.
John: You know, Rex, I don't know what to tell you. If Natalie's keeping something from you, then that's between the two of you.
Rex: So, you're saying you know what's up or that nothing's up?
John: What I'm saying is, you're being a good brother for worrying, but you probably can stop.
Rex: Stop? Just like that?
John: Truth is, Rex, Natalie's great. And when she's ready to tell you, I'm sure she will. All right? So, why don't you just let her be?
[Cell phone beeps]
Rex: I'm sure you can find something else to occupy your time.
Eli: Done and done. Now onward and upward.
Téa: Let the games begin!
Singer: [Note] I don't think you can do any wrong you're like the hook in my favorite song I wanna sing you you're in my heart you're on my mind you pick me up at the lowest times in my life everything happens for a reason and now I see why you're such a wonderful surprise you make everything right you take me by surprise at the perfect time you're such a wonderful surprise [Note]
[Kiss kiss kiss]
Téa: I'll win.
Dani: No, you cheated.
Téa: I'll win. I'll win. You guys are sore losers.
Todd: That was a fluke. I'll prove it to you.
Téa: No, Todd.
Todd: Best 2 out of 3.
Téa: There's no time. I gotta go.
Téa: Where's Dani?
Todd: Dani is waiting. So where do you wanna go to first? Viki's or... the diner to see that immigrant girl that you hang out with? What's her name?
Téa: No. You know what? I don't want to go on a farewell tour of Llanview. I mean, can you imagine going to see Viki or the Vegas and dropping the bomb on them that I'm dying of a brain tumor? Come on, now. That wouldn't be fair to them.
Todd: Since when is any of this fair?
Téa: I'll write them letters when I get settled. Okay? Now, are you done stalling?
Todd: Can you blame me?
Téa: It's one of the things I-- ha ha--I love most about you. You never give up.
Todd: Not until now. Here I am giving up.
Téa: You're not giving up. You're letting me go.
Todd: I can't believe you're doing this to us.
Téa: Do you hate me for it?
Todd: Oh, good? Good how?
Téa: You know, bringing her up by yourself is not gonna be an easy task. You realize that, right?
Todd: Yeah. Of course I'm gonna take care of her.
Téa: I know you will. And I wanna ask you something else, okay?
Todd: Oh, great. What else?
Téa: Another favor.
Todd: Oh, perfect.
Téa: Ha ha ha.
Téa: I want you to take care of yourself.
Todd: Don't I always?
Téa: No, you don't always. Less than a month ago, I was trying to get you out of jail, remember?
Todd: That's because you're out of your mind.
Téa: Ha ha ha ha.
Todd: Kind of woman I've always attracted.
Téa: I'm serious. Look, I'm not saying I don't love the bastard in you... but it's time for you to let him go and be the best version of yourself, Todd.
Todd: What if the bastard version is the best version?
Téa: We both know that's not true. When I die... look at me. Look at me. I wanna know that you're gonna be happy, too.
Todd: That's emotional blackmail! You know that? How am I supposed to deny you that wish?
Téa: You can’t.
[Cell phone buzzes]
[Turns off shredder]
John: Something wrong?
Rex: Why would something be wrong?
John: You stopped talking to look at a text, and you haven't looked up from your phone since.
[Cell phone beeps]
John: What's wrong?
Rex: No--nothing. Uh, P.I. emergency. I gotta go.
John: Okay. Uh, Rex? Stay away from the Thompson investigation. I have your word, right?
Rex: Scout's honor.
John: That's "live long and prosper."
Rex: Oh. I never was a scout or a Vulcan. Uh, watch out for Natalie for me?
Brody: Wait a second. You're keeping the baby?
Natalie: Yeah. I mean, I wasn't going to at first. I got as far as the clinic, and then I changed my mind.
Natalie: Because by the time this baby is born, John and I will have started our family.
Brody: But it might not even be John’s. You said so yourself. There's as much a chance this baby's mine.
Natalie: Yes, there is a--a chance that this baby is yours, but a very small chance, and as far as I'm concerned, I'm convinced this baby is John’s.
Brody: What if you're wrong? What happens when John and Jessica find out?
Viki: David, what is wrong with you? Of course it's Brody's baby. Who else's would it be?
David: Well, it's a fair question. I mean, look who we're talking about.
Jessica: Excuse me?
David: I mean, one day you're Bess, another day you're Tess. Then you're a teenager. Now you're pregnant. Who knows what your others have been up to? I am saying this for your own protection.
Viki: Okay, Jessica, ignore him, darling, please. Just ignore him.
Charlie: Yeah, he'll be living somewhere else soon. Hopefully tonight.
Jessica: It's okay. I'm fine, really, because I have even more good news. And David cannot ruin this because I know for a fact he doesn't know what it is.
David: What? Are you getting married?
Jessica: I don't believe it.
David: I'm a natural at this kind of thing.
Bellboy: This is the front desk calling for Mr. Clarke.
Eli: This is Elijah Clarke.
Bellboy: You have a visitor downstairs.
Eli: All right. I suppose you can send them up.
Bellboy: The young lady prefers to be met in the lobby.
Eli: Does the young lady have a name?
Bellboy: She refuses to give it.
Eli: Oh, is that so? Well, then I suppose it's not the best idea to let her up.
Bellboy: She's quite agitated, sir.
Eli: Fine. I'll be right down.
[Eli hangs up telephone]
Rex: Nicely done.
Rex: Where are you?
Kelly: Thank God you're here.
Rex: What the hell are you doing under Eli Clarke’s bed?
Kelly: Researching Bennett Thompson. How much time do we have?
Rex: A minute or 2. Maybe less.
Kelly: Hold that.
Rex: Okay. I had a bellhop tell him that there was a mysterious person downstairs waiting to see him. Although as soon as he gets there and sees the only people there are the ones waiting for the annual meeting of the Llanview society of decorators, he's gonna come running back up.
Kelly: All right, take a look in that briefcase. See if you can find anything incriminating.
Rex: It's locked.
Rex: Why would there be something incriminating here? What does Eli Clarke have to do with Bennett Thompson?
Kelly: Rex... Eli is Bennett Thompson.
John: Hey, hey. Any word on Natalie or Brody?
Murph: Nothing yet.
Murph: You want me to put in a call?
John: No, that's all right. I'm sure they're just busy.
Murph: All right.
Brody: Natalie, have you stopped to consider the consequences for everyone?
Natalie: I haven't been able to think of anything else. Do you think that I enjoy this? Do you think that I want to ruin things between you and Jessica when you just finally got back together?
Brody: No. Of course not.
Natalie: It has taken years for John and me to get back to where we are now, and I don't want to risk losing that, either. But it's too late.
Brody: Too late for what?
Natalie: I already told John that I'm pregnant. And now I'm gonna tell Jessica, too.
Viki: You're marrying Brody!
Jessica: Surprise! Again. Brody proposed and I said yes.
Viki: Oh, sweetheart! I can't believe we missed everything.
David: Well, next time, consider taking a vacation a little closer to home. Have you ever heard of the Llantano Hills outlet mall? I wouldn't be caught dead there, but they sell lots of stuff made out of flannel for--
[David clicks his tongue]
Viki: Well, if this isn't a cause for celebration, I don't know what is. We're going to have a celebration.
Jessica: I don't want you to make a fuss.
Viki: Of course we're gonna make a fuss. Where's Brody?
Brody: So John already knows you're pregnant?
Natalie: Yeah. And Brody, he was so happy. I mean, you know, after he lost the baby with Marty, he didn't think he was gonna have another shot at getting another kid, at least, not so soon.
Brody: But if it's not his...
Natalie: As far as I'm concerned, this baby is John's, no matter what, and the only reason I am telling you is so that when John and I go around telling everyone the news, you're not blindsided.
Brody: What? Don't I get a say in this?
Natalie: Why would you want one?
Brody: Because this isn't just about you and John, Natalie. This involves me and Jessica, too.
Natalie: It doesn't have to.
Brody: It is one thing not to tell them that we slept together. We both thought we had lost the people we loved most. We took comfort in each other. If they found out about that one indiscretion, they'd probably forgive us, but this? I don't think I can justify keeping this a secret.
Natalie: What are you saying?
Brody: If you're gonna keep this baby, I have to tell Jessica I could be the father.
Dani: Is it time?
Dani: Where's Todd?
Téa: He's inside. I wanted some...some time alone with you. I want to give you this necklace, okay?
Dani: But that was your mom’s.
Téa: I was always just holding onto it for you. And you can give it to your daughter, okay?
Dani: I don't think I'll ever have a daughter.
Téa: Why not?
Dani: Because I can't imagine having a child without you being there to help me.
Téa: You won't need me. I mean, look at all the ways I've screwed up as a mom. I totally let you down.
Dani: That's actually how I've been trying to look at it so that I won't be so... but all I can think is... everything that you did right and everything that I've done wrong. I've been so awful.
Téa: It's your job to be awful. Ha ha ha. If you weren't awful, there would be something seriously wrong with this mother-daughter relationship.
Dani: I'd rather be screwed up than lose you.
Téa: Too bad. Because you are perfect. Listen to me. You blossomed... and you will continue to do so.
Dani: You think so?
Téa: I know so. [Sniffles]
Eli: Renee, this is Elijah Clarke. I think you need to have a conversation with your staff. I just got a call from the front desk saying I had a visitor in the lobby. I went down to check. There was no visitor and no one at the front desk to help me. I have no name, I have no number. I expect better service for my money. Thank you.
Rex: Well, that was close.
Kelly: No. Close is hiding under a bed trying not to let the serial killer know you're there.
Rex: Okay, are you for real? Eli Clarke is Bennett Thompson?
Kelly: Looks that way.
Rex: Why'd you take the paper from the shredder?
Kelly: He destroyed a bunch of documents. Now, if they are worth destroying, then they're worth reconstructing. Maybe there'll be something we can use to have him arrested.
Rex: I hope you have a lot of glue.
Kelly: I just wish we knew what he had in that locked briefcase.
[Eli unlocks briefcase]
Eli's voice: Just fill in Blair's name right here.
Téa's voice: Okay.
Eli's voice: Blair...Cramer. You know what? This--this pen's almost out of ink. Let me get you another one.
Eli's voice: Okay. This one works. I just need you to fill in your name here and sign right there.
Téa's voice: Okay.
Eli's voice: That's it.
Téa's voice: Thanks for making this so easy.
Téa: My ride's here.
Todd: What are you talking about? I thought we were taking you to the airport.
Téa: Who said I was taking a plane?
Todd: You did.
Téa: No, I didn’t. Stop trying to trap me. I don't want you guys following me, okay? I wanna say our good-byes here.
Todd: You know, I'm really sick of marrying you for only 24 hours.
Téa: Huh! Really? It's one of my favorite pastimes.
Todd: I love you.
Téa: I love you, too.
Todd: I'm sorry that I didn't give you that fairytale ending you wanted.
Téa: You'll give it to Daniella, okay? That's what matters.
Dani: No, I'm sorry. I thought I could do this but I can't, Mom. Please stay. Please stay. Please?
Téa: I'll be right here. Okay? Estare en tu corazon. Siempre. You guys--you guys be good to each other, okay? Oh, wait. Ha ha. Ha. Hold out your hands. Hold out your hands.
Téa: Whenever you see a fountain... I want you to make a wish for me, okay?
David: Well, I'm all for celebrating. Viki, where do you keep your secret stash of champagne?
Viki: No, there's only one stash of champagne.
David: Oh. Well, you may be out. Well, certainly you've got some spirits squirreled away around here somewhere. There's gotta be something the 4 of us can drink, right?
Jessica: I can't drink.
David: Why not?
Jessica: I'm pregnant.
Viki: Heart transplant.
David: Where's that redhead when you need her?
Jessica: David, how can you even think about drinking with your hangover?
David: Maybe you've heard of a little something called the tail of the dog. Or hair of the dog. Tail of the dog? I never know the difference. You know who would know? Tess. Can you access her for a second? Oh, no matter. More booze for me. Oh, when I get back, we should probably start talking about baby's names. I was thinking Lynette or Lyle Lovett.
Charlie: I think I'm gonna whip him up a little prairie oyster. Extra hot.
Viki: Darling, I am so, so sorry about David. I promise you, I will never let him upstage you like that again.
Jessica: Why don't you stick to the promises you know you can keep, okay?
Viki: Okay. Well, in that case, I promise you I'm the happiest person on this earth. Well, after Brody and you.
Jessica: Oh, he flipped out when I told him, naturally, but I'm just so relieved that everything worked out the right way.
Viki: The right way? What do you mean?
Natalie: Brody, Brody, you--you can't do this. You can't tell Jessica that you might be the father of my baby.
Brody: How can I keep something like this from her?
Natalie: Because you don't want to hurt Jessica or John. Look, okay, I know that there is a slight chance that you could be the father of this baby, but in my heart, I know it's John’s.
Brody: And in my heart, I can't keep a secret from the woman I love.
Natalie: You already are, okay? If we just keep our mouths shut, everything will be fine.
Brody: Natalie, are you listening to yourself? We can’t.
Natalie: Just think for one second, Brody. You are this close, this close to having the one thing that you have always wanted in your life--a family. Why would you risk everything to lose that when you're this close? Brody, please. Don't do this. Don't-- don't say anything to anybody about my baby.
