Adriana: So if Rex isn't Shane’s father, then who is? I want to know his name.
Gigi: Where do you get off coming here, making demands? What's your problem, anyway?
Adriana: My problem is coming home from Paris and finding you in my home with my fiancé in tears telling him that you're so sorry. About what, Gigi? What in the world were you so sorry about?
Rex: Since you found out that Adriana and I were a couple, you've been raining on our parade. And now, out of nowhere, you're dying to throw us a fabulous wedding?
Dorian: Oh, Rex, I didn't know you were such a cynic.
Rex: A cynic? Right. To think Dorian Lord could be anything but sincere -- shame on me.
Dorian: I want you and Adriana to be happily married. Now, if you find that objectionable --
Rex: No, it's -- it's -- it's the suddenness of it, Dorian. One day, you can barely tolerate me, and the next day, you can't wait to have me as a son-in-law. What changed your mind?
Bo: Someone want to tell me what's going on here?
Clint: I have it under control.
Warren: You have nothing under control, and you never will.
Clint: Warren, you don't want to question me on this.
Bo: Why? And what about me, Clint? What if -- what if I have a question?
Jared: Oh, I got that info on Warren Cobb. Your father's suspicions were correct. He was going after those subsidiaries.
Natalie: Good thing we caught it as soon as we did.
Jared: Yeah. Could've done some serious damage -- worse than Webster.
Natalie: Better make plenty of copies.
Jared: I'll have Phyllis do it.
Natalie: Why not Gigi?
Jared: Oh -- uh -- she had something going on with her son, so I gave her the morning off.
Natalie: One of the perks of making out with the boss?
Jared: There's nothing going on with Gigi and myself. You don't believe me.
Gigi: If you must know, I was sorry because -- I was sorry that Rex was there with me, and not you, because I know how much he missed you.
Adriana: Uh-huh. Yes, that explains it. Is that also why you were upset? Because Rex missed me and that made you sad?
Gigi: I was upset because --
Adriana: Oh, yes -- no, I know. It was those allergies, right. Well, you're obviously lying through your teeth. But for the record, I'm here because you just plain annoy me, not because I'm worried. In fact, the minute you left, Rex showed me continually just how much he missed me.
Gigi: Great. Thanks for sharing.
Gigi: And since you "just plain annoy me," too, might be better if you leave.
Adriana: Except that you haven't answered my first question. And you know, it's amazing how evasive you can be, Gigi. Shane has a father. Why not tell people who he is?
Gigi: Fine, you want the truth? You've got it.
Shane: Why do you want to know about my dad?
Adriana: Oh, well, your mom and I were just talking and I was curious, that's all.
Gigi: Are you ready to go, honey?
Shane: Yeah, I guess.
Gigi: Shane's going to spring break camp today. I have to drop him on my way to work. Go get your backpack, okay?
Shane: Are you upset, Mom?
Gigi: No. No, I'm just -- just in a hurry.
Shane: But I know how you get when anybody asks anything about my dad.
Gigi: I'm fine; now go get your stuff.
Shane: My dad was a hero, you know.
Gigi: Shane --
Shane: Some people don't believe me about him because we don't have the same last name.
Adriana: Oh, no? What was your dad's last name?
Gigi: Don't answer her.
Shane: My dad's name was Sergeant Brody Lovitt, United States Navy.
Dorian: Yes, I admit my change of heart about your wedding is rather sudden.
Rex: "Rather" sudden? Closer to extremely, insanely, wildly, weirdly sudden. So, what gives? Did you get struck by lightening? Got some sign from up above that I'm a major catch? A great guy for your daughter?
Adriana's voice: What you will do, since you're so good at controlling other people's lives, is make sure nothing stops this wedding from taking place.
Dorian: I don't understand.
Adriana: I think you do. If I don't marry Rex, I'll never speak to you again.
Dorian: Yes, I had an epiphany. I now see the best in you. Now, listen, we've got some important planning to do. Well, why don't we sit down? You know, the most important thing about a successful wedding reception is to make sure that you are --
Rex: Oh, God -- where is Adriana? She and Layla are having one hell of a long meeting.
Dorian: No. No, please, don't do that.
Markko: Mrs. McBain --
Marcie: Hi, Markko. I -- I guess my husband's not here yet.
Markko: No, I haven't seen him. Do you want this booth right here?
Markko: All right, I'll clean it up for you.
Marcie: Oh. Thanks.
Marcie: Thank you.
Markko: We -- we miss you at school. You know, everyone's always saying how much better you were than Mrs. Lyness. She's our new English teacher.
Marcie: How really sweet of you to say, Markko.
Markko: Well, I'm not making it up. It's true, I swear.
Marcie: Well, you know, if you ever need help with anything -- tutoring, or whatever, I'd be glad to give it to you free of charge.
Markko: Thank you. I -- I may take you up on that. Huh.
Marcie: I always thought you had a way with poetry. Oh, don't worry; I'm -- I -- I won't let it get out or anything.
Markko: I wouldn't want to ruin my street cred, right?
Marcie: Yeah, tough stuff. Oh, Michael -- over here.
Markko: Hey, Dr. McBain.
Michael: How are you?
Markko: I'll get you guys some menus.
Michael: Okay, thank you.
Marcie: Thanks. Hey, I can't believe that you're actually here. I'm so glad you could leave the hospital and meet me for lunch.
Michael: Well, wish I had more time. Oh, and I'm -- I'm not going to be home until really late tonight. Terry Pederson’s out sick, and looks like I'm the only one who can cover her shift, so --
Marcie: Michael, is it always going to be like this?
Bo: Is someone ever going to tell me what's going on here?
Clint: It's in B.E.'s best interest to buy Warren out, and your stockholders are going to clean up, and we'll have a stronger market share.
Warren: I built that company from the ground up.
Clint: I know that. You did a nice job, Warren. But there comes a time for everybody to step aside, and today, it's time for you to step aside. You and I both know that.
Natalie: You say there's nothing going on between you and Gigi -- okay, fine, there isn’t.
Jared: Well, then, what's with all the attitude?
Natalie: I mean, what, am I supposed to be delighted that you were making out with an employee on company time? Is that supposed to be amusing to me?
Jared: Well, I don't think you need to be judgmental.
Natalie: Oh! Let's just drop this, okay?
Jared: Well --
Natalie: Back off!
Jared: Whoa! I was just trying to help.
Natalie: Okay, but I don't need your help.
Jared: Okay, how long is this going to be going on?
Natalie: I don't know what you're talking about.
Jared: You've hardly looked at me since I kissed Gigi. And I don't think it's just a company policy thing.
Natalie: You know, well, maybe it's because I agree with Rex about you taking advantage of Gigi.
Jared: Rex wasn't being protective of Gigi, he was jealous. Is that -- is that what you're feeling, Natalie? Are you jealous?
Natalie: I am not jealous. I mean, one more time here. You're my uncle, and that means you're off-limits. And quite frankly, the idea of you and me together -- well, it's -- it's nauseating.
Jared: What if things were different?
Natalie: Oh, my God. Can you stop with your idiotic "what ifs"? We can't unring that bell, Jared. We already know the truth.
Jared: Yeah. The good old truth. Well, I guess I better get these -- info copied.
Natalie: You know, it does seem so strange, though. Warren Cobb trying to attack B.E., you know? He -- I met him at Grandpa's funeral, and he just seemed so nice.
Jared: Sometimes people aren't what they seem.
Bo: Maybe we can work something out.
Warren: All right. A compromise -- I'm open to that.
Clint: Uh -- Warren, I need to discuss a couple things with my brother. Could you give us a moment?
Warren: Of course. Bo, it was great to see you again.
Bo: Yeah, you, too.
Warren: How's that son of yours? I can't believe how big he's gotten.
Bo: Matthew is doing just great, thanks for asking.
Warren: Okay, Bo.
Bo: Okay. What are you trying to do to the man?
Clint: This is business.
Bo: I don't care what it is, you don't annihilate somebody just to satisfy your own ambitions, especially when you've known that guy all your life.
Clint: What difference does it make how long I've known the man?
Bo: Well -- Warren is from the school of hard knocks, you know, just like Pa. His business is his life. You know the pride that he takes in that company.
Clint: Phyllis -- ahem -- would you get Natalie and Jared in here right now?
Bo: Why would you want to destroy the man?
Clint: I have my reasons.
Markko: You need anything else?
Michael: No, thanks, Markko.
Michael: Marcie --
Michael: A lot has happened with us. We can't ever go back to the way that things were, but there's no reason why we can't --
Marcie: Can't what? Move forward? Get a new beginning, a fresh start, a bright tomorrow?
Michael: You know, fine. Then you try to put it into words, since all I ever seem to do is just throw out empty clichés.
Marcie: Mike, I don't know what to do with myself. I've gone from being a mom and a teacher -- so busy, I can't see straight -- to this, to nothing.
Michael: There was a time before when you weren't teaching or being a mom. It was just the two of us, and there were no careers or kids involved. We were just happy being together. Why can't we go back to that?
Marcie: Maybe we can. If we can forgive each other.
Rex: Why don't you want me to call Adriana?
Dorian: Because she's having a meeting with Layla. They have a lot of important things to discuss before Adriana leaves for Paris. Why do you want to disturb them?
Rex: Uh -- because Adriana and I, her beloved fiancé, also only have a little time before she leaves for Paris.
Dorian: Right, but just, you know, be patient. She'll be back soon, I'm -- I'm sure. Listen -- oh, oh! I -- I want to tell you -- your mother had the most marvelous idea for the wedding.
Rex: Roxy, a marvelous idea?
Dorian: Yes, indeed. She wants us to get wine from Nash’s vineyard and then have Cristian Vega design special labels for the bottles.
Rex: Cool. Classy.
Dorian: I had a great time brainstorming with your parents. And your father is really quite the charmer.
[Knock on door]
Rex: Excuse me. Layla.
Rex: Where's Adriana?
Layla: She's not here? I need to talk to her about something before she leaves for Paris.
Rex: I -- I don't get it. I thought you were meeting with her right now.
Layla: Really? Well, obviously not.
Dorian: We must have misunderstood.
Rex: Nah -- I didn't misunderstand anything. Adriana told me she was meeting with Layla. Did she call you?
Layla: No, but I guess it's possible that we were supposed to meet and I forgot.
Rex: Okay, even so, if she hasn't been with you, where is she?
Gigi: Shane, go get your backpack right this minute.
Adriana: Is that what you were going to tell me? That Shane’s father was a Sergeant Brody Lovitt?
Gigi: That's what Shane said. He has no reason to lie to you.
Adriana: Oh, I'm sure he wasn't lying. But I am curious -- why doesn't he have his father's last name?
Gigi: Shane's dad and I weren't married when he went overseas. I didn't get along with Brody's mom, and after he was killed, everything just fell apart. And that's when I moved to Texas and had Shane.
Adriana: And Shane’s grandmother never wanted to see him?
Gigi: The woman hated me. Didn't want anything to do with me and my kid. Not that it's any of your business, anyway. And by the way, I do not appreciate your making Shane talk to you about his dad. Where do you get off interrogating him like that?
Adriana: I just don't get why it's such a big secret. Unless you're hiding something.
Gigi: Oh -- back off, Adriana! None of this concerns you!
Adriana: Think about it, Gigi. You come to town to testify for Marcie McBain. You end up staying, getting a job because of my fiancé, your old boyfriend. Then I find out that you're hanging out with him at Capricorn, hanging around our apartment. What am I supposed to think?
Gigi: What's the matter? Don't you trust Rex?
Adriana: Oh, I do. I trust Rex completely. It's you I don't trust.
Gigi: I'm not going to stand here and take this from you. If you're feeling insecure about Rex, that's your problem, not mine.
Adriana: Why, because you're going after Jared Buchanan?
Gigi: Hmm, my God -- and where'd you hear that, from the same blabby friend who told you she saw Rex and me together at Capricorn?
Adriana: Look, I'm not putting you down for it. Jared is hot. And he's got a lot of money, now that he's a Buchanan. You know, I could see why you'd be into him.
Gigi: And it'd keep me away from Rex, right?
Adriana: I'm just saying, if you're into him, you should go for it.
Gigi: Hmm, like I need your advice.
Adriana: Suit yourself. Be alone. I'm just trying to help.
Gigi: You know how you can help? By getting out of my face right now. I have to get my son to camp.
Adriana: I understand. I'm really glad we had this talk. Feel like I got to know you better. Bye.
Shane: I'm ready to go. What was Rex's girlfriend doing here, anyway? What did she want?
Gigi: Well, whatever it was, she didn't get it. And she won’t.
Natalie: Hey, why is Warren Cobb out in the reception area?
Clint: Did you get the information I wanted?
Jared: Yeah, I just didn't want to take a chance with email. It's pretty volatile stuff.
Clint: Read that. You still think we shouldn't take out Cobb? I got lucky. I got wind of what Cobb was planning to do before any damage was actually done. Look at the groundwork that he laid out there. He was coming at us from a different angle, but he had the same end game as Virgil Webster. And the end game is blow up B.E., and then cherry pick the pieces.
Bo: So we just return the favor?
Clint: What did Pa teach us about wounded grizzlies?
Bo: The most dangerous kind.
Clint: Phyllis, send Cobb back in.
Jared: Uh -- you want us to leave?
Clint: God, no. You stay here.
Warren: So, have we reached some sort of compromise?
Clint: No, Warren, that's not going to happen.
Markko: You need anything else, just let me know.
Michael: Marcie, I told you many times, I understand why you did what you did.
Marcie: You understand, really? You understand how I kidnapped our son and went on the run? You understand how I held Viki Davidson at gunpoint? You understand these things?
Michael: Yes, yes. You were under a lot of pressure, a lot of pressure, and you weren't yourself.
Marcie: You keep coming up with all these excuses for me, Michael, but that's all they are. You don't really accept what I did.
Michael: No, it wasn't you, Marcie. You lost yourself.
Michael: You were convinced that it would be wrong for Tommy to be with Todd. You were -- you were trying to protect your son.
Marcie: So now you're trying to justify it, just like you justified what you did in this -- your part in this.
Michael: My part?
Marcie: Not telling me the truth about Tommy in the first place.
Rex: Why isn't she answering?
Dorian: I'm sure she's fine, Rex.
Rex: Adriana would not lie to me. Hey, me again. Call me when you get this.
Layla: Okay, I'm -- I'm starting to worry, too.
Rex: All right, look, I'm going to go look for her. Just stay here. Call Blair, Sarah -- whoever you can think of.
Dorian: No, no, don't -- really, wait just a while longer. This is silly.
Rex: Not to me. Whew, there you are! Oh!
Rex: Oh, I was so worried. She's here, folks, one piece.
Layla: Girl, what happened to you? We were supposed to meet?
Dorian: I -- I'm sure you misunderstood.
Adriana: No, she didn’t. Um -- look, I didn't have a meeting with Layla. I lied to you.
Adriana: Because I didn't want you to know that I was going to see Gigi.
Gigi: Shane, your hat and gloves. I told --
Shane: It's not that cold, Mom.
Gigi: You were just sick the other day -- you're going to wear your hat and gloves.
Shane: Are you mad at me?
Gigi: For what?
Shane: Telling that girl my dad's name.
Gigi: No. "That girl" is Adriana and no, honey, I'm not mad at you. I just don't like it when people are so nosy and, you know, I think from now on, we should keep that stuff between us, okay?
Gigi: Shane, honey, I -- I know that you're proud of your dad and -- and you want to tell everyone about him. But just trust me on this, okay, please? There are some things that some people are just better off not knowing.
Rex: So, you went to see Gigi. What's -- what's the big deal? Why would you not want me to know that?
Dorian: Oh, Rex is right. We -- we have much more important things to discuss like wedding to plan, for goodness sakes.
Adriana: Mom, it's fine, okay? I can handle this. So, here's the thing -- even though I know that you love me, love me, love me, I went to see Gigi because I can't help but feel a little bit threatened by this old girlfriend who suddenly turns up and insinuates herself into your life.
Rex: I thought we'd worked through the trust issues.
Adriana: We have. I trust you completely, but I don't know Gigi well enough to trust her --
Rex: Oh, come on!
Adriana: Especially when I'm in Paris and I hear that you're out together at Capricorn and getting her a job at B.E. And especially that thing with Jared --
Rex: That was --
Adriana: Just because he kissed her.
Rex: Uh -- that was about him being a jerk. It had nothing to do with Gigi.
Adriana: So, if you had seen him kissing some random person, you would have not even said anything?
Rex: Gigi's an old friend -- she's like a sister. If -- if I'm protective of her, that's why. And, I feel kind of bad for her. She's had -- she's had a tough life. For the one billionth time, it is you I'm in love with, Adriana.
Adriana: I know. And I'm calmer now because Gigi and I actually had a really nice talk and I know that I have nothing to worry about with her -- nothing at all.
Michael: Oh, is that what this is all about? Me lying to you about Tommy being Todd’s son?
Marcie: Well, that is how it all started, isn't it -- with your lie?
Michael: Oh, that's great, Marcie. Why don't we just lay all the blame on me, because God knows I deserve more punishment, that I haven't suffered enough.
Marcie: I'm not trying to punish you, Michael. You know, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, you're right. I have no business blaming you for my mistakes, do I? Look, I -- I don't blame you, okay? I mean, maybe I am trying to take some of the guilt off of myself, Michael, because I -- well, I don't know what else to do, okay?
Michael: Why don't we try to move past the blame and the guilt altogether, all right? Why don't we try to take some positive steps in our lives instead of -- instead of dwelling on what went wrong, instead of dwelling on what we've lost and how we screwed up?
Marcie: So we move forward, Michael? Another tired cliché? I don't know how. Michael, I wish I did, but I don't know how.
Michael: You need to be busy, all right? You've got too much time on your hands to sit around and think about what happened and go over it and over it and over it.
Marcie: Busy with what? Michael, I don't have a job, I cannot get a job. I don't have a kid, I can't have one, I cannot get another one, so you tell me, Michael -- what am I supposed to do?
Michael: That -- you need to figure that out for yourself, Marcie. I don't -- write another book and take a class, get a -- I can't do that for you.
Marcie: Fine, fine. I will figure it out, and I am sorry if I make you unhappy.
Marcie: Michael, come here. Look, Michael? Please, listen to me -- just wait. And I -- I don't mean to make you unhappy. I -- I love you.
Michael: I love you, too.
Clint: We know everything you were planning, Warren. So we're going to buy you out -- it's just that simple.
Warren: It wasn't my idea, Clint. It was in the preliminary stages -- I hadn't approved it yet. For God's sakes, Bo, I've known you since you were knee-high, your daddy was my friend and confidant. Why in the hell would I want to destroy his business?
Clint: Well, I don't believe you and I just can't take a chance with my family and their futures. Now, if you were in my boots, you'd be doing the same thing.
Warren: Destroy a man's life?
Clint: Well, you should've thought of that before you put me in the position of having to protect my family. You're finished, get out.
Warren: And I thought Asa Buchanan was dead.
Jared: Uh -- you need anything else from us?
Bo: No, you and Natalie can leave.
Clint: This is the world that we live in and I did what I had to do.
Bo: Yeah, but you didn't have to enjoy it.
Natalie: I don't know what to think. I've never seen my dad like that before.
Jared: Well, I think he was just looking out for the company, you know, for the family.
Natalie: Even so, was it necessary to humiliate Warren Cobb like that in front of us?
Jared: Well, with all the attacks on B.E. since Asa died, I think your dad needs to get the "take no prisoners" message out there. Might be the only way to stop others from coming after us, you know?
Natalie: So, what, you're saying that the message we need to send is that we're a heartless, ruthless company?
Jared: Better than letting people think they can just walk over us.
Natalie: I just think that there's a more humane way of handling this.
Jared: I disagree -- I think your dad did the only thing he could.
Natalie: Really? So if being cruel is all my dad could do, would you admire that, Jared? Would anyone?
Jared: Natalie, he's your father. You need to trust that he knows what he's doing.
Natalie: No. No. I don't -- I don't know where that man came from, but I don't know that man.
Clint: Whatever it is you're thinking, just say it.
Bo: You could've handled it privately. You didn't have to invite Natalie and Jared in here to watch that poor man squirm!
Clint: I wanted them to see the "poor man" who was trying to ruin us.
Bo: Yeah, but he backed down! Why didn't you just leave it at that?
Clint: And give him another chance to come after us? He fired the first shot, I fired the last one.
Bo: Oh, come on. This isn't a war -- this is business.
Clint: Well, to Pa, it was one and the same.
Bo: Yeah, but to Pa, not to me. And not to you, either -- that's what I thought anyway.
Clint: Well, I think that we should move on. I've got work to do.
Bo: How did you get him to back down?
Clint: Oh, I had him dead to rights.
Bo: Oh. Because I know that you told me that you had a -- a possible plan, nothing concrete, and I know that he would never sell his company. There's not enough money in this world that would make him sell his company. So if it wasn't financial pressure, then what kind of pressure was it, Clint? What kind of dirt did you have on the man?
Marcie: Why don't you tell me about Starr and Cole, huh? How are they doing?
Markko: Uh -- it's pretty bad. I am kind of worried about them.
Marcie: You know, know that you and Langston are going with each other and that she lives with Dorian Lord and the Mannings, so I was wondering if you ever saw Tommy -- hmm -- see him.
Markko: Uh, sometimes. You know, he's a cool kid.
Markko: Seems to be doing okay.
Marcie: I suppose I really shouldn't have asked you that, I guess, but I -- I just can't help it, you know, even though Tommy -- Sam -- is no longer with me, I still think of him as my little boy, you know?
Marcie: Oh, hey, Gigi.
Gigi: Markko, I was wondering if anyone found a watch, because I took it off here the other day when I was helping out and I think I might've left it.
Markko: Well, I can check.
Gigi: Thank you. I can only stay a minute -- I have to get to work.
Marcie: Oh. You had a half day or something?
Gigi: I took the morning off. I overheard you talking to Markko just now -- you sound upset.
Marcie: You know, just the usual -- huh. Missing Tommy, thinking about him, trying to figure out what to do with my life.
Gigi: I wish I could help. I'd hang out with you more if I could.
Marcie: Uh-uh. Hey, look, you got a big new job, you've got a kid to raise, you're a very busy person. Why would you want to waste your time on me, right?
Gigi: Marcie, you're my friend.
Marcie: I know -- I'm sorry. I'm -- I'm sorry I said that, you know? The only thing I seem to be capable of these days is self-pity.
Gigi: That'll change, okay, as soon as you figure out what you need to do.
Marcie: Yeah? How do I do it, huh? I mean, you seem to be able to. You have your problems, yet you are strong and you're positive. You know, you fight -- you fight through it all.
Gigi: You're giving me way too much credit -- huh. Sometimes I -- I feel just the way you do -- confused, worried, and not sure what the next step is.
Rex: Nobody has ever made me feel the way you do, Adriana. Just feeling your arms around me, looking into those big brown eyes makes me crazy with desire.
Adriana: Hmm -- me, too.
Rex: So, no more insecurity, okay?
Adriana: No more.
Rex: Now, I will let you and your mom and Layla talk wedding because I have work to do. So, I'm going to take this to the diner. Call me or come by when you're all weddinged out.
Adriana: I won't be too long.
Rex: See ya, guys. Have fun.
Layla: Bye, Rex.
Layla: You know what? I'm going to go, too, just for a minute. I've got some really cool design ideas for bridesmaid's dresses and I want you to take a look at them.
Adriana: Great, sounds good.
Layla: I'll be back in a few.
Dorian: Bye-bye. Are things really all right between you and Rex? Honestly, I was -- I was surprised when you told him the truth about going to see Gigi.
Adriana: Oh. I'm sure, seeing as how the truth doesn't usually occur to you.
Dorian: So, things went well between the two of you?
Adriana: Oh, yes. We bonded like mad -- she's my new B.F.F.
Adriana: Please -- woman makes my skin crawl. I trust her even less now.
Dorian: Something's different. What happened to you in Paris?
Adriana: Hmm -- "what happened to me"? Uh, well, I worked, drank some wine, ate some pate, maybe gained a pound or two.
Dorian: I'm serious. You seem changed -- your personality -- and quite frankly, I find it jarring.
Adriana: Well, weren't you the one who wanted me to change? I mean, you're the one who sent me to Paris, keep me away from Rex. And besides, what's so "jarring"? I'm not as sweet and innocent as I used to be, heaven forbid.
Dorian: That's it exactly. You do seem less innocent.
Adriana: Well, have you yourself not pointed out to me that innocent people are usually taken advantage of? And did you yourself take advantage of sweet, innocent, trusting me? Well, no more.
[Knock on door]
Marcie: Well, here I am going on about myself and there is something going on. So, come on, spill the beans -- what is it? Is it Shane? Is it the move -- he's having a hard time adjusting?
Gigi: No. It's not the move. It's --
Rex: Adriana told me she came to see you before.
Gigi: Really? What'd she say?
Rex: Uh -- just that you two had a nice talk.
Gigi: Yeah, well, we did. I have to get to work.
Markko: Gigi, I didn't get a chance to look for your watch, some customers came in. I'll go look now.
Gigi: No, there's no time, Markko. I have to get to B.E. I never should've taken the morning off.
Rex: Was it something I said?
Singer: I can't believe
Clint: It doesn't matter what kind of leverage I used against him.
Bo: It does to me.
Clint: What matters is that he backed down. Cobb was a threat to us -- he's not anymore.
Bo: But, Clint, I thought we were in this together.
Clint: We are. But sometimes, somebody's hands are going to get a little dirty. Would you rather they be yours?
Bo: I'd rather neither one of us ended up getting down in the mud.
Clint: Well, then this company is going to go straight to hell. Is that what you want? Because that's what's going to happen if we don't fight fire with fire. Bo, did you never bend the rules even a little bit when you were police commissioner? I mean, for God's sake, what's more important than defending the family and protecting the Buchanan name?
Bo: Well, that's the way Pa always saw it, right? The end justifies the means. We don't care who gets hurt.
Clint: Better them than us.
Bo: Yeah, but, Clint, you never saw it that way -- any more than I did.
Clint: I have come to realize, for the longest time, we didn't have to believe that. Why? Because Pa did the dirty work for us. That means we could play the moralist, we could play the high and mighty. Pa built this company into an empire for you, for me, Cord, Matthew -- for all the Buchanans. Pa is gone now, and someone has to take over. Now, if you want to take the high road, that's fine -- go right ahead, God bless you. But don't you judge me for making necessary choices. Don't you judge me for doing what needs to be done.
Natalie: I was like you in some ways, Jared. I mean, you know, I -- I grew up without a father, found out I was a Buchanan, definitely felt like an outsider at first. But the difference between you and me is that when I came to town, I came to scam the Buchanans and you didn't even know you were one. In fact, my dad -- he's the last one I got to know. I really wasn't sure if he even wanted to have anything to do with me. But once I got to know my father, I found out that he was the most incredible, sensitive, loving, caring man that I had ever met. And he was -- well, he is a hero for me in so many ways. And seeing him like that -- God, it felt like I was just seeing somebody else.
Jared: I -- hey, you know, sometimes people get stuck doing things that they don't want to, things that aren't even them. And they may have good reasons for it, honorable reasons, and even if people end up getting hurt, it was never the intention.
Natalie: I don't like finding out that people aren't who I think they are.
Jared: You're not talking about your father right there. You're talking about me.
>> On the next "One Life to Live" --
Sarah: I do have one question, though -- why do you have so much faith in me?
John: This isn't about Cole and Starr -- it's about you and Todd, isn't it?
Antonio: The way I see it, John is out to try and nail someone else!
