One Life to Live Transcript Monday 6/5/06

Dorian: You're offering me a million dollars to --
David: Thatís right.
Dorian: David. You havenít worked a day since I kicked you out of my house. How do you expect me to believe that you're suddenly worth seven figures?
David: Todd offered me a million dollars if I could find evidence to clear his name and I found her.
Dorian: I hope you got that in writing.
David: Oh, donít worry. He'll pay up. $2 million is a bargain.
Dorian: Oh. 2 million -- hmm. Just a moment ago, you said he offered you 1 million.
David: Fine. $2 million -- which, by the way, I'll be happy to spend the rest of our lives sharing with you because if I donít get out of here, I'm as good as dead.
Natalie: Hmm. I had the nicest dream.
John: About what?
Natalie: About you and me, making love for the first time in way too long. It was amazing.
John: Thatís funny -- I think I might have had the same dream.
Natalie: Hmm. Maybe itís real.
John: I donít know. You tell me.
Bo: So far, we got someone who signed off on the D.N.A. and the blood work from them.
Hugh: Someone in an official capacity.
Bo: Yep, to prove that it was Margaret and her baby.
Hugh: Thatís the someone who lied.
Bo: I -- I asked for the case file with those records in it. It should be here pretty soon.
Hugh: Yeah. They're exhuming the bodies and if we can identify them, we might be able to find out who left them at the lake.
Bo: Yeah, to frame Todd Manning for murder.
[Knock on door]
Rex: Got a minute?
Hugh: All right. I'm going to go check on the autopsies myself.
Rex: I heard Paige was in an accident, she got hurt pretty bad. I just wanted to say I'm sorry.
Bo: Is there something else I can do for you, Balsom?
Rex: I passed all my P.I. Classes, got my license. Itís a done deal. I'm a P.I. come on, Bo. Now that you know I was right about Todd, arenít you going to cut me some slack?
Spencer: It would just be so, so easy to just let you die, Todd. But Blair said that she would do anything for me if I kept you alive.
Blair: Oh, my God. Heís awake! Todd! Oh. Hey, Todd? Todd, can you hear me? Todd. Spencer, why isnít he saying anything? What --
Spencer: Well, his organs arenít functioning at optimum capacity, his entire autonomic nervous system was severely impaired and --
Spencer: Well -- obviously thereís a problem, Blair. I will not know what kind of damage, if any, Todd suffered to his brain.
Blair: Brain? What are you talking about? You said he was going to be fine. Is there brain damage?
Spencer: I said he would live -- his heart is strong. Listen, he is getting the best care possible, I promise you.
Blair: Well, what about his other organs? Are --
Spencer: Todd died, Blair, in that execution chamber.
Blair: I know he did.
Spencer: I literally brought him back from the dead.
Blair: I was there, Spencer. Are you saying that he is brain-dead and thatís why heís not talking right now?
Spencer: Not necessarily. Heís heavily sedated, that could be the reason.
Blair: Well -- can he hear us?
Spencer: I really canít say. I'm sorry. Listen, I want you to know that I am doing everything humanly possible for him. You know that, right?
Blair: I know.
Spencer: All right. These people are saying that I framed him, that I had something to do with it all. Now, do you know how that makes me feel? I'm just glad you donít believe it.
Blair: Well, why would I, Spencer? You saved Todd. And the police are going to catch who set Todd up, they will. When Todd wakes up, finds out whatís going on, heís -- thereís no telling what heís going to do.
Paige: Ugh --
Michael: Paige, what are you doing?
Paige: I -- I have to go see Bo.
Michael: Hey, Paige? You're in no condition to go anywhere.
Paige: Let me go.
Michael: Please lie back down, please.
Paige: I have to see him.
Michael: Can I have two milligrams of lorazepam I.V. Push stat? Do it.
Nurse: Got it.
Paige: I have to -- I have to tell Bo. I have to tell Bo -- Spencer.
Bo: You were right to believe that Todd Manning was innocent.
Rex: So, you're not mad anymore?
Bo: I didnít say that.
Rex: Yeah, but if I was right --
Bo: Then you should have come to me and maybe you'd have found out that I had my doubts about him, too.
Rex: You did?
Bo: Mm-hmm. See, I trusted you, but you didnít trust me. You decided that you had to take the law into your own hands. Todd Manning was armed -- he had a gun. The guy was desperate. You could've gotten yourself killed by barging into a scene like that.
Rex: I'm sorry.
Bo: You know, I actually believe you this time.
Rex: You know, we'll probably be working on a lot of the same cases since I'm officially a P.I. and I'd like to think that we're cool, working together as friends, because it meant a lot to me having you for a friend. Anyway, think about it.
Natalie: I'm glad that you chose justice instead of vengeance.
John: For now. I was thinking that we need to figure out how Manning is connected to Truman.
Natalie: We know it is, but we just canít prove it.
John: He had to have known that his brother killed my dad, and he helped him cover it up. Vickers isnít smart enough to do that on his own. But you know, thatís for another day. You thirsty? You want something to drink?
Natalie: How long did we sleep, anyway?
Natalie: Oops -- sorry. You know, now that you've found your fatherís killer, I guess you could finally put these away.
Natalie: It isnít over, is it, John?
John: No, thereís no justice yet. But there is something else I need to do.
Natalie: Whatís that?
John: See my dad.
Natalie: Your dad?
John: Yeah, I havenít -- I havenít been to his grave since we buried him. I couldnít.
Natalie: So you want to go to the cemetery?
John: Yeah. I need to tell him that I found them. I found the people responsible, and then I'm going to close this case for both of us.
Natalie: John? If you want somebody to go with you, I'd like to.
John: If you donít mind giving me some space when we get there, I'd like that.
Natalie: Of course.
Natalie: So much for peace and quiet.
John: I need to take this.
Natalie: Go ahead.
John: Itís about Manning. Yeah?
Hugh: Hey, John, I know itís late, but I figured you were probably up working on this case, anyway.
John: Whatís going on?
Hugh: Um -- I canít find something in the file.
John: You need me to come down there and help you?
Hugh: Yeah, if it wouldnít be too much trouble.
John: Yeah, all right. I'm on my way. I'm sorry.
Natalie: Donít be. Wasnít I the one who said this was too good to last?
John: It was Hugh. He needs -- he needs some help on one of my files, ok? Hopefully I wonít be long.
John: Hey, uh -- you know, you can stay here if you like.
Natalie: Ok. I wonít go anywhere, then.
Natalie: Good luck.
John: I'll see you. Whatís up, Roxy?
Roxy: Well, I guess I donít need to ask you whatís up. You and Mr. Happy back in the saddle again?
Natalie: Yes, John and I are back together.
Roxy: Are you never going to learn?
[Knock on door]
Spencer: Uh, just -- just a minute. Hey, Mike. Whatís going on? Come on in. Uh -- take a seat, man.
Michael: I wonít be staying long.
Spencer: Whatís on your mind?
Michael: John said you set Todd Manning up, you were willing to let him die. He also told me that you covered up about my dadís death to protect your brother and Paige.
Spencer: Yeah, I'm aware of your brotherís claims.
Michael: You know, when my brother told me, I wanted to come after you. I wanted a piece of you, and I thought to myself, "you know what? Letís hear his side of the story."
Spencer: Well, I appreciate that, Michael, but I donít have a side. I mean, I -- I didnít do the things that I'm accused of.
Michael: So you're denying it?
Spencer: Listen, we're doctors, right? I mean, men of science, you know? We -- we gather information to make our decisions. I mean, an incorrect hypothesis -- it could end up in the death of a patient. You donít have all the facts, Michael. Are you ready to make your diagnosis? I mean, are you really willing to condemn me based upon a guess?
David: Cops donít like cop killers. Sons donít like father killers. This analogy could go on and on, but John Mc Bain is not going to let me out of here alive.
Dorian: Can you blame him?
David: No. I canít say that I can. I canít even stand myself for what I did.
Dorian: Well, itís not as if you intentionally shot the man.
David: But I did it. I did it, and I canít take it back, as much as I'd like to. I'm not asking you back. But you loved me once. You're the only person on the planet that I think I could say that about. Do you really want to see me dead?
Dorian: Even if I agree to help you, how can I possibly break you out of jail?
David: So you're willing to give it a shot?
Blair: Todd? Itís me. Hey. Todd, can you hear me? The kids, they -- they were here. Jack, heís very confused. But Starr, she -- she never stopped believing in you, not once. But I did, Todd, and I'm so sorry. Please come back. Come back to us, and I swear to you I will make it up to you. I'm so sorry.
Roxy: Are you on drugs or something?
Natalie: I hurt my leg, Roxy.
Roxy: Because they must be awful good if you're hooking up with Johnny miserable, even though he is sexy as hell.
Natalie: I thought you liked John.
Roxy: Hey, baby, I ainít saying that I donít like him. Itís just that every time you hook up, you either end up in the hospital or kidnapped by some psycho or left dead somewhere. You know how many gray hairs I've had to cover up because of you meeting up with him?
[Knock on door]
Roxy: Oh, good. You're saved. Thatís Bridgette with the towels. All right, I'm coming, Bridgette. Hey.
Rex: I thought I heard your voice coming from in here. What are you doing in here?
Natalie: This is just a regular family reunion.
Rex: So, I guess you and Mc Bain are back in the saddle?
Natalie: Could you guys stop saying that? Itís disgusting.
Roxy: I wish my love life were that disgusting.
Natalie: You know, we have a lot going for us.
Rex: More power to you, then.
Natalie: I thought you were anti-John.
Rex: That was before.
Roxy: Before what?
Rex: Adrianaís mother kept butting in. She almost broke us up.
Natalie: Uh-huh, and tried to have you killed.
Roxy: Am I missing something? What are you talking about?
Rex: The point is your love life is your own business.
Natalie: You hear that, Roxy?
Roxy: Hey, listen, I'm not saying that I donít like the guy because I do like him. He pays his rent on time, thereís no cockroaches in this place, but I want you in one piece and I want you to be happy, so anybody whoís terminally dressed in black like they're going to a funeral all the time, they do not know happy.
Natalie: Yeah, well, Johnís different now.
Roxy: Oh, sure. Heís not exactly wearing clown yellow, you know.
Natalie: Huh. Look, he found his fatherís killer, and heís not going to have to solve every case in the world trying to make up for the one that he couldnít. You know, he -- heís not my savior anymore. We're partners, for real. I think -- I think Johnís finally at peace now.
John: So, how is it these records just disappeared?
Hugh: I donít know, but this is Manningís case file, and the D.N.A. and blood work records are not here. Maybe they were misfiled, misplaced. I donít know, they could be anywhere.
John: Itís almost unbelievable how often that happens around here. Can we get copies from the hospital?
Hugh: Not till tomorrow, no.
John: Well, if this doctor can supposedly manipulate records here at the police station, it'd be even easier for him to do it at his own hospital, so we need to move fast.
Bo: I'm really glad you're ok. After everything you've been through, you're still beautiful. And you're not alone. I'm here and -- and you have a son out there, whoever he is. He should be here right now. He would be if you werenít so afraid of Spencer. I didnít understand it before, but I finally get it. I know what heís capable of. And I'm here. And I'm always ready to listen. I always have been. I havenít given up on you.
Michael: You're right, Spencer. I donít have all the facts. I actually donít have any concrete proof against you at all, but what I do have are questions, like when I told you that I thought the name of the surgeon who screwed up my dadís operation was Snyder. I poured my guts out to you that day. You never once mentioned to me that you worked with him, that your wife was assisting him.
Spencer: No, I had no idea that your father was the patient that Paige had harmed, and I'd never worked with Snyder.
Michael: You worked in the same hospital. You must've known the guy.
Spencer: Michael, do you have any idea how many different hospitals around the world that I've worked in? I mean, there must've been at least 10 different doctors named Snyder.
Michael: Yeah, but only one who supposedly killed a cop with your wife assisting -- your wife, who really did it.
Spencer: It was a cover up, wasnít it? They covered it up. They even kept it from me. I mean, itís not something sheís just going to run up to me and -- and admit to me, now, is it?
Michael: Why not? You're her husband. She trusted you.
Spencer: No, she didnít. But we're not here to talk about my marriage. Look, Mike, you know, I've -- I've tried to be more than just a mentor here. I've tried to be a friend as well, and now that friendship is being questioned all because of some unfounded accusations.
Michael: Accusations that not just my brother -- not just my brother -- are making, but Paige -- Paige, your ex-wife.
Spencer: Sheís going to be indicted for manslaughter in Atlantic City, Michael. Of course itís only, you know, obvious. I mean, it stands to reason she would try to shift the guilt someplace else. I'm the logical choice.
Michael: Oh. Thatís what sheís doing.
Spencer: Come on, man. I thought we were friends, you know. I thought you knew me better than this.
Michael: It seems to me that the people who know you best -- Paige, who was your wife, David, who is your brother, those people, the people who know you best -- they seem to end up in a lot of trouble.
Blair: The last thing you must remember was that first injection. You died, Todd. If John Mc Bain had just gotten there earlier and -- well, I guess itís a miracle that he got there when he did. Thank God Spencer was there to save you --
Blair: What? Todd. Oh, my God. Todd, stop. Help me. Help me!
John: So the bodies that we thought were Margaret and her baby were actually a pair from a morgue in Kentucky.
Hugh: What? How'd they end up at Llantano Lake?
John: Donít know. It says here that they -- they were claimed the day before Margaret was supposedly killed. We'd actually need the morgue files to know who they really are.
Hugh: Hey, an old law school buddy of mine landed in Louisville. He clerked for some big judge out there. Maybe I can -- maybe he can speed things along. I donít know if I can reach him this late, though.
John: Itís going to be a long night.
Roxy: All right, so let me get this straight. Johnny has finally found peace.
Natalie: So he can move on.
Roxy: Oh, yeah, he can move on, right into the next disaster.
Natalie: You know, forget it. How about you? How are things going with Adriana -- still on the outs?
Rex: Not anymore, even if it took a near-death experience to bring us together.
Natalie: Well, it happens.
Roxy: "Near death?" What the hell are you talking about?
Natalie: Sometimes you have to go through something like that to realize what you could lose.
Rex: And hopefully forgive any past mistakes.
Roxy: Oh, isnít this sweet? Are you two going to sing folk songs? Because if you are, I'm out of here.
Rex: That all it takes? And lighten up. Get yourself a brewski.
Natalie: Nope. We got to get out of here. I have to get to the police station.
Roxy: Wait, honey. Let me just tell you something. Johnny Darko is no different, ok, than he ever was because heís still a man dressed in black, and I got some words of wisdom to you -- a tiger never changes its spots.
Dorian: I'm quite comfortable cash-wise these days, but there are a few things I could do with a couple of extra million dollars.
David: Thatís great, so hereís the plan. You distract the guard. Use your feminine wiles -- oh, wait! You're a doctor. Do you have any drugs? Knock him out with a pill, then get the key!
Dorian: Shut up, ok? Thereís no way I'm going to help you break out of jail. No way at all. I've already agreed to help you get a lawyer. Thatís it, David. Thereís nothing else I can do to help you. You're just going to have to -- to -- to face this and -- and stop running away!
David: Running away is what I do best!
Dorian: Oh, yeah. Tell me something I donít know.
David: I wasnít running from you, Dorian.
Dorian: You should've stood up to Spencer. That is what destroyed our happiness -- not Spencer, but you, David.
David: I know that now.
Dorian: Huh. Well, too little, too late. You used to be the kind of man who was your own man, the kind of man I thought I could love for the rest of my life. Is there nothing left of that man?
David: I donít know. But if I donít get out of here, there never will be.
Dorian: Oh, great. You just want to get out so you can run again. David, arenít you tired of that? Donít you think maybe itís time to stop?
David: So you think I should take the deal?
Dorian: What deal?
David: They want me to help pin Toddís frame-up on Spencer.
Dorian: Oh. Well, you do that, and I'll do whatever it takes to help you destroy Spencer Truman.
Michael: Listen, Spencer, I donít know how any of this is going to play out, but I do know one thing for sure -- I can no longer continue my fellowship under you.
Spencer: Oh, come on, Mike. Now, look, thatís just going to hurt you in the end.
Michael: Then it does!
Spencer: Well, and me, too. I mean, come on, man. You're about the only friend I've got in this town. You know, I never -- I never had a son.
Michael: Yeah, well, I had a father. And somebody took him away from me. And now itís like I'm losing a father all over again.
Spencer: Donít worry about that, all right? I will be absolved of all charges, you will see.
Michael: John doesnít seem to think so.
Spencer: John? Your loyalty is to your big brother first, isnít it? I wish I was that close with my brother. Johnís convinced that I had something to do with this just like he thought Todd was guilty. I mean, thatís why he pursued him so relentlessly.
Michael: You want to go ahead and take that?
Michael: Yeah, you do that -- because you and me -- we're through.
Spencer: Dr. Truman. I'll be right there.
Blair: Help. You have to help, please!
Doctor: You have to go.
Blair: No, I'm going to stay right here! I'm not going to do anything until I make sure heís ok!
Doctor: I'm trying to figure out whatís wrong with him.
Blair: Help him!
Spencer: Heís seizing. Diazepam -- slowly titrate up to 10 milligrams, all right?
Blair: Spencer, please help him!
Spencer: Help me turn him on his side. Here, get up there!
Blair: Come on, Todd. Oh, my God!
Spencer: Turn him! Just move him right there. Now, tell me what happened.
Blair: I donít know. We were just talking, and -- and he started shaking like this.
Spencer: All right, all right. You have tell me exactly what you were talking about when he started seizing, Blair. Tell me exactly what you were talking about.
Blair: Shh. Come on. Come on. Come on, Todd. Well, you -- you did it again. You saved him.
Spencer: Listen, itís very important that I know what could've brought this on. You have to tell me exactly what you were talking about. Did you say something to upset him or --
Blair: No. I -- I donít know. We -- we were just talking about regular stuff. We were talking about the kids, the paper, you know.
Spencer: All right. I'll be in my office if you need anything.
Bo: This is from Matthew. Heís been asking about you. And thatís from me.
Michael: Ok, everything looks good.
Bo: Hey, Mike. I was just about to come looking for you.
Michael: Hey, um, did Vickers confess yet?
Bo: No, no, not yet. I'm not sure that heís going to. Right now, we're piecing together what we have on Vickers and about your fatherís murder and then see if it ties together with Todd Manning being framed for killing Margaret Cochran.
Michael: I still canít believe sheís still alive and that Spencer might be behind the whole thing.
Bo: I know. I want to talk to Paige about that.
Michael: You know, she was trying to get to you. She said she had something to tell you about Spencer. But I -- I had to sedate her, Bo. You know, she was hurting herself in there.
Bo: Of course, yeah. But if she needs to talk to me, I'll talk to her tomorrow.
Blair: Hey. Was it Spencer? Did you hear me say "Spencer?" Is that what upset you, Todd? I mean, if that was, thatís a good sign. That means you -- you heard me. Oh, God, Todd, I'm never going to upset you again. I promise you. I promise you.
Spencer: Hello, Paige.
Spencer: So you want to talk to Bo about me, do you? You know, the police donít have anything. Theories, really, but nothing concrete. Now, Paige, I know how badly you want to tell Bo about you helping me deliver Margaretís baby, which would prove that I knew Margaret was alive. But thatís just not going to happen. As a matter of fact, you're not going to tell Bo anything.
John: I canít make out this signature. It looks like a scrawl.
Hugh: Looks like a doctorís.
John: Truman wouldnít have signed his own name, anyway.
Hugh: Well, somebody signed it out. I'll put in a call to the morgue attendant, see if he can give us a description.
John: Ok. What do you say we just subpoena Trumanís records, get a warrant to search his premises?
Hugh: No, we donít have enough. Without -- without somebody actually placing Spencer Truman at the scene of the crime or coming up with some tangible proof, we've got nothing. All we can do is wait.
John: I'll be honest -- I donít do waiting well.
Natalie: Hey. Howís it going?
John: Hey. Uh -- you know, itís going ok.
Natalie: What are you working on?
John: Well, hopefully, some -- some answers, but I wonít know anything until morning.
Natalie: Well, you hate that.
John: Yeah. Itís right around this time that I usually lose it.
Natalie: No, you wonít.
John: Hmm. Hey, can you make anything out of that signature there?
Natalie: Oh. No, thereís -- thereís no way to make that out. And I bet whoever signed it wanted it that way.
Dorian: I confess I wouldnít have shed a tear for Todd. Todd is not my issue with Spencer -- Blair is. David, sheís in the clutches of a very dangerous man.
David: Thatís what I've been trying to tell you.
Dorian: Yes, but why didnít you tell me sooner? I'll never forgive Spencer for shattering our happiness, but he could destroy Blairís life unless something is done.
David: Thatís why I got to get out of here.
Dorian: Why? So you can run and hide again? You better not! You better stand up to him this time. This is your chance to pay him back for all those years of manipulating you, and while you're at it, how about some payback for me? How about you help me protect Blair and her children?
David: And if I do?
Dorian: Well, there could be a bonus in it for you.
David: There is?
Dorian: You help protect my family --
David: And I get you back?
Dorian: And maybe your soul will be saved.
Bo: Hughes just gave me an update. Why donít you two call it a night, all right? Neither one of you have gotten much sleep.
Bo: Thatís an order.
John: Got it.
Bo: Ok. Balsom? My office.
Natalie: You know, uncle Bo is right. We havenít really gotten much sleep.
John: No, not tonight, anyway.
Natalie: Listen, Rex gave me a ride. Do you mind taking me back to Llanfair?
John: You know, with everything thatís happened tonight, we havenít had much of a chance to talk. I know this little place we might be able to get a couple cold beers. What do you say?
Natalie: Sounds good.
John: Letís get out of here.
Rex: I've been hearing the buzz about the Cochran fallout. Guess you guys are going to need someone to check out stuff under the radar. Right?
Bo: You never know.
Rex: Right. You never know.
Bo: Uh-uh. Donít push your luck, Balsom.
Hugh: Bo? I just talked to the morgue attendant in Kentucky.
Bo: Did he tell you anything?
Hugh: He remembered the case well -- couldnít make out the signature, doesnít remember the name of the man who took the bodies, but says it was someone in an official capacity.
Bo: Like a doctor?
Hugh: Maybe. He agreed to come to Llanview, and heís sure he'll recognize the man if he sees him.
Spencer: Remember these?
Paige: That -- that --
Spencer: The forged, yet very authentic documents that I was so kind enough to provide a copy of for you a while back. Little works of art actually, and the most beautiful thing about them is, is that they cannot be traced back to me. As a matter of fact, the only names on any documentation contained herein that pertain to the bodies that were found in the lake are dr. Paige Miller and commissioner Bo Buchanan. Now, Paige, you may not have anything left to live for, but Bo certainly does, and you really donít want to throw him to the wolves, now, do you?
Paige: Why are you doing this? Bo never did anything to you.
Spencer: You donít know that. I could care less what happens to him, but I'm going to make sure that I do everything within my power to hang on to the things that I hold to be most dear to me.
Blair: Hey. Can you hear me? I need you to hear me. Please hear me, Todd. I love you.
On the next "One Life to Live" --
Adriana: Did you shoot John and Michaelís father? How solid is your case against David?
Antonio: Itís not just who the father was.
Evangeline: Jessica might not be the mother.
Antonio: And if sheís not, we may never see her again.
Tess: What is it?
Nash: I'm leaving.
