One Life to Live Transcript Wednesday 3/22/06

Nash: You called the realtor, didn't you?
Tess: Donít you know what this means? We can stay. We can raise little Grape or Alec here just like we planned.
Nash: Do you have any idea what you've done?
Tess: I've corrected your mistake.
Nash: We can't live here.
Nash's voice: I'm calling her back.
Nash: Damn it, Tess. If Reston finds you here --
George: So you're the infamous Tess. Oh, please. I'm not about to hurt an innocent child.
Tess: Then who are you here to hurt?
George: The guilty. No, no, no. I'm all alone. What, did you think I would bring some grunt to mess up a pretty little thing like you?
Tess: Like you did Nash? Well, I wouldn't mess with this pretty little thing because looks can be deceiving.
Viki: What is it?
Clint: It's a strongbox.
Viki: It looks like it's been there a long time.
Viki: How long, do you think?
Clint: Oh, no, I couldn't say.
Viki: Are you going to open it?
Evangeline: Where are you, Todd?
Paige: All right, where did I leave it?
Evangeline: This what you're looking for?
[Motorcycle engine shuts off]
Todd: Blair! Starr!
Spencer: Oh, I thought you went to bed.
Blair: I did, but I couldn't sleep.
Spencer: Maybe it was the coffee you had with dinner.
Blair: It was you.
Spencer: I'm sorry?
Blair: How could you leave the awards ceremony and not mention it, huh?
Spencer: Priorities, I suppose. You're much more important to me than -- than an award. You understand?
Blair: Thank you, Spencer.
Spencer: And it's really too bad that other people can't put themselves, their own interests, second to yours.
Blair: You're talking about Todd.
Spencer: Yes, I'm talking about Todd. It's -- it's just too hard for me, Blair. Look, if you donít understand --
Blair: Wait, Spencer.
Blair: Wait, Spencer. I do understand.
Renee: Hey. If I had known that a big-time baseball star was going to be eating in my restaurant tonight, I would've reserved the best table.
Bo: You should've seen him.
Bo: Renee, I swear it was the ninth inning, ok? The other team is up by one run. They have two men on. Now, the heavy hitter gets up. This kid is huge -- hits a line drive. It's over his head, but who goes up, gets the ball, then reaches out, tags the runner? Double play. You know, a 6-6 double play. Won the game --
Bo: By himself.
Renee: That's unbelievable! Asa would be so proud of his grandson.
Matthew: Yeah, I wish he could've been there.
Renee: Yeah, yeah. Oh, listen, come on. I got to get some food in you guys. They say that sports stars have to have a lot of petrol in the tank.
Bo: Well, you know what? We already ate, but we just came by, we thought maybe we could get a little dessert.
Renee: Donít say a word. Two apple crumb pie a la modes coming up.
Matthew: Make it three. Paige will be here soon.
Bo: Nah, I think two will be ok for now, thanks.
Renee: Ok. Be right back.
Matthew: Paige isn't coming, is she? I knew it. I knew she wouldn't stay forever.
Bo: Paige isn't going anywhere.
Matthew: Then why didn't she come to my game?
Paige: What are you doing here?
Evangeline: Same as you -- looking for Todd.
Paige: That's ridiculous. I donít even know the man.
Evangeline: Really? Then why would he come back to Llanview just to see you? Maybe to ask how Spencer is involved in Margaret Cochran's murder.
Paige: So you are helping him.
Evangeline: Did you know that Spencer rented this place the day before Todd met Margaret at the lake?
Paige: You mean the day before Margaret was murdered?
Evangeline: That's what it says on the lease, but I think you already knew that. I mean, obviously you've been here before.
Paige: I was looking at the space. I live with Bo, but I had some furniture to store, so obviously I left my beeper behind.
Evangeline: What's your agenda, Paige? Are you trying to help prove Todd's innocence or are you trying to help the real killer set him up?
Blair: Spencer, why didn't you tell me?
Blair: That awards ceremony was really important. That award was for you.
Spencer: Maybe that will give you an idea of how much you mean to me.
Blair: Todd always said I meant the world to him.
Spencer: You know, they say the true mark of a man is measured by how committed he is to his family . Obviously, Todd doesn't understand that.
Blair: Well, you've certainly been there for me. And I know that you've overcome so many obstacles to get where you are. I think I've always been attracted to a man that overcomes and reaches his goals. That's -- that's why I fell in love with --
Blair: I still love him, Spencer. I do. That's why all this is -- it's -- it's just really --
Spencer: Yet you were talking about me. You mean I've met all of my goals?
Blair: You know I was.
Spencer: Well, I havenít. I havenít met all of my goals.
Blair: I know.
Spencer: You know, I think about you night and day. I go to sleep at night thinking about you. I wake up in the morning thinking about you.
Blair: Oh. Were you thinking about me just now?
Spencer: Yes, absolutely. I mean, I saw you standing there and I -- I thought I was dreaming and I -- I almost jumped up and ran over there and swept you off your feet and -- I mean, I wanted to just --
Blair: but you --
Spencer: Take you to bed and --
Spencer: Do you have any idea how much self-control that takes?
Blair: I guess. But you didn't before.
Spencer: Well, people make mistakes.
Blair: Maybe it wasn't a mistake.
Blair: Wait -- no. Get away from me, Todd! Get away from me. You take that hat off.
Blair: Things might be different -- no. Take the ridiculous hat off.
Todd: No, it's cold out there. My ears get cold.
Blair: Yeah. Well, you're not going to get any unless you take the hat off.
Todd: I want to play New Hamsphire woodsman has sex with a yodeling milkmaid.
Blair: Take the hat off and let's see if you can teach me how to yodel.
Todd: Yeah. Blair.
Viki: Why are you waiting? Open it.
Clint: You know, there's a reason they call them "strongboxes" -- they're strong.
Viki: Clint, come on. There could be something very important in there.
Clint: Donít get your hopes up. Though it is old, we should be able to get it open.
Viki: So do it.
Clint: I'm not sure that we're up to it.
Viki: What? For heaven's sakes, the answer to Tess might be in there.
Clint: Maybe. But I donít know that we're up to handling facing any strong evidence.
Viki: Oh, no, no, no. You think I'm not up to handling -- oh, come on.
Clint: I keep thinking about what rose said -- that whatever we're looking for is right here in this house.
Viki: Exactly, and this could be it. Clint, the Box has been here a long time and somebody went to a lot of trouble to make sure that it was hidden.
Clint: Yeah. They sure did.
Viki: Well, if you're not going to open it, I will.
Tess: This "pretty little thing" doesn't like to be messed with, and if you push her, she'll rip you a new one.
George: My, my, you have some crust talking to me like that.
Tess: That's not all I've got, so why donít you just go? You can go to hell, you can go and take care of your druggie little daughter because Nash and I are done with you.
George: You donít talk about my daughter like that and I am not through with Nash. He has a debt to pay and I plan on getting restitution.
Tess: Well, I have got a news bulletin for you, ok, because there is nothing here to collect.
George: Oh, there's always something.
Tess: Nash and I just want to be left alone.
George: You know, I donít see it happening that way.
Tess: Of course you donít. Both your family and my family can't get their heads out long enough to figure that out.
George: Yeah, well, you know, I donít know about your family, but with the Restons, it's pretty straightforward.
Tess: If you donít leave us alone, we're just going to disappear.
George: Oh, you can run away and hide in some little burg in some little no-name country, but there will never be any happily-ever-after, not for you two, not after what Brennan did to my daughter.
Tess: What Nash did to Claudia is nothing compared to what I'm going to do with you if you screw with us anymore.
Nash: Hey, hey, hey, hey! You get the hell away from her.
George: Hey, what, are you threatening me?
Nash: No, no, it's -- you can do whatever the hell you want to me, but you stay away from Tess, ok?
Matthew: I know what's going on with Paige. I heard you two talking.
Bo: What did you hear?
Matthew: That rex was helping her find someone in her family.
Bo: Why would that keep her from coming to your ballgame?
Matthew: Because her family's more important.
Bo: Yeah, but her family should be important to her and, yes, rex tried to help her find someone, but that doesn't mean that she cares any less about you.
Matthew: But she's keeping secrets, dad. Secrets hurt people.
Bo: Not all the time.
Matthew: What about Jen? What about mom? I just donít want anything to happen to Paige.
Bo: Neither do I.
Paige: Donít you ever touch me again.
Evangeline: I'll do what I want. You're going to give me some answers.
Paige: I've already told Bo everything. He knows that I think Todd is innocent.
Evangeline: Now, why would you think that?
Paige: Doctor's intuition.
Evangeline: So you really didn't know this was your ex-husband's space?
Paige: No. But now that I do, I donít want anything to do with it. I hate being under Spencer's thumb.
Evangeline: Really? Isn't that ironic? I'll bet if we were to call the police forensics squad, the only print they could lift from this place would be Spencer's thumbprint and they would find it right on you. Now, you're going to tell me what's going on here or I'm going to go to Spencer with everything I know.
Spencer: I never thought I would be in this position, find myself like this where I'd fall in love with an unavailable woman. That wasn't my intention when I came to Llanview, and I know that you think that, because of your situation, that I've been trying to possibly take advantage of you.
Blair: No, I took advantage of you.
Spencer: How? How so?
Blair: Look, I never wanted to be the kind of woman that's scared, ran from man to man just to lean on their shoulder, and here I am crying on another man's shoulder -- yours.
Spencer: I donít buy that for a second.
Blair: Why not?
Spencer: Because that's not what you're afraid of.
Blair: Well, what do you think it is?
Spencer: I think you're afraid of falling in love with me.
Paige: I donít think you're stupid. If you think Spencer's a murderer, the last thing you're going to do is confront him.
Evangeline: Maybe you're right. It would probably be better to take this to Bo. See, he's been barraging me with questions and now I have something to give him. Yep -- Spencer leases the building and you leave your pager here. Maybe he and the boys at the crime lab can make something out of all this. Yeah, that's what I'll do.
Paige: No, wait. Please. If you care at all about Bo, you'll leave this alone. Please.
Evangeline: You're protecting Bo. Why? He would never be involved in something like this.
Evangeline: The question remains -- why?
Paige: I can't tell you.
Blair: Spencer, donít. Donít -- donít use the l word.
Spencer: I donít want to put any more pressure on you than you're already under.
Blair: Well, then donít, because you've been great. You've been there for me, you -- you understand, you're understanding, and you listen to me.
Spencer: Listen, I donít know where you're going to find it, ok, and I wouldn't even know what it looked like for you, but I know that you will have love again in your life. There will be life for you after Todd.
Blair: I -- I just donít know if I'm ready for it.
Spencer: Well, you donít have to be right now. You're a strong woman. I -- I have no doubt in my mind you're going to pick yourself up from this with your kids on your back if you have to. And you'll carve a new life for yourself, a new existence, and I just want you to know that I will be there for you any time that you need me, ok?
Blair: Spencer --
Spencer: I'm not Todd.
Blair: I know.
Spencer: I can't pretend to be something that I'm not to try to get you to fall in love with me.
Blair: I know that.
Spencer: But I also cannot stand here -- I mean, I can't just stand here and look at you and feel the things that I feel for you and -- and not want to -- I'm sorry.
Man: I'm here about the disabled car.
Officer: Yeah, no sign of the driver.
Man: Whose bike?
Officer: I just ran the plates. It's stolen. We do have an escaped killer in the area.
Man: Think he has something to do with this?
Officer: Hope not. I'm going to have a look around.
Tess: Nash, I'm not afraid of this jerk.
Nash: Let me handle this.
George: Well, you should be.
Nash: Listen --
Tess: I can handle myself!
Nash: I'm sure you can -- listen. Please. All right, this is still my place, all right? So unless you want me to call the cops and have them take you away, please just -- just leave, ok?
George: You have no idea who you're messing with, Missy. You want to join your friend here and take me on? You're going to have an enemy for life.
Tess: Yeah. Well, making enemies is what I do best, so get in line, pal!
Nash: You all right? He didn't hurt you, did he?
Tess: No. The only person that hurt me today was you.
Clint: All right, for argument's sake, let's say what's in this box will tell us what happened to Jessica.
Clint: I just donít think you can handle it.
Viki: Yes, I can. This is what we've been looking for since Tess came on the scene. This is why we came to this godforsaken house.
Clint: Tess is capable of doing a lot of emotional damage, already has, but what's in this box may make Tess pale in comparison. Now, what I want to do is take it back to Llanview and talk to dr. Jamison about it.
Viki: And what, let him open it?
Clint: No, I'll open it first and figure out what to do. I just -- I just want him there -- you know, if you and Tess have any feelings you have to deal with.
Viki: No! We're not going to sit around and wait for an opening in Jamison's schedule to find out what happened to Jessica!
Clint: No, this is not about Jamison's schedule. It's about you and Jessie and I donít want whatever's in there to hurt you two.
Viki: Clint, 20 years ago, I did something.
Clint: Niki did something.
Viki: No. Niki, Viki -- it doesn't matter who. What happened -- what matters is what happened to Jessica and it was my fault. And I am going to have to face it sooner or later. And I'm not going to wait.
Clint: You can wait. You've waited this long -- it can wait one more day.
Viki: No, I cannot. I'm going to open it. Fine. Then we'll just find out what's in this box together.
Clint: All right. Are you sure you want to go through with this?
Clint: Viki, donít. Could be fingerprints. Got to be careful.
Viki: I was so afraid we weren't going to find anything. I'm so horrified that we did.
Clint: We donít know anything yet.
Viki: Come on, you saw her name.
Clint: It could be another Tess.
Viki: Clint, you know it's not. Look, this could be the hardest thing that we will ever have to face. But it's the first step in integrating Jessica and Tess. She has to face it. We all do. And then maybe we can put Niki to rest, as well.
Clint: Viki, you're not the only one to blame. I was her father. I should have protected her.
Tess: Why didn't you tell me the truth?
Nash: About what?
Tess: About why you left Llanview. Why you are selling the vineyard. It's because Reston threatened you, isn't it?
Nash: Do you think I'm afraid of Reston?
Tess: I think you're afraid of what he might do to me or your baby.
Nash: Tess --
Tess: I saw the look on your face when you saw Reston and me arguing. We had a deal. No more secrets. First you keep the Claudia visits a secret from me, and then you leave me some B.S. note in Llanview, and then you come here and sell our dream.
Nash: "Our" dream? Tess, I'm selling my dream.
Tess: Doesn't matter whose dream it is or was. You lied to me. You couldn't even tell me the real reason.
Nash: How dare you lecture me about secrets -- after everything you've kept from me?
Matthew: Hey, I thought you weren't going to come.
Paige: I'm so sorry I missed your game. I can't wait to hear all about it.
Matthew: Yeah, we won.
Bo: Yeah, thanks to the M.V.P.
Paige: Well, then, you know what? I've got a present for the M.V.P.
Matthew: Awesome! An autographed Jon Lieber.
Paige: I thought if you wanted to, you could hang it on the wall to your tree house when you guys are done.
Matthew: Thanks. You're the best.
Paige: No, you -- you are the best.
Matthew: Here, I'll get you some pie.
Paige: Oh, great, because I'm starving.
Matthew: Apple crumb with soy ice cream, right?
Paige: How did you know that?
Matthew: You just won the M.V.P. Award. No offense, Dad.
Bo: No, none taken, son.
Matthew: I'll be back.
Bo: It was so sweet of you.
Paige: Well, he's the greatest.
Bo: Well, he sure loves you a lot.
Paige: And I love him and his dad very much.
Bo: Good. So -- um -- do you want to -- do you want to tell me what you were up to tonight?
Man: Check it out over here. Footprints.
Blair: What -- what's wrong?
Spencer: I -- I just donít want you to do anything you're going to regret.
Blair: Spencer --
Spencer: That's all.
Blair: Before, it was out of need.
Spencer: And now?
Blair: I want you.
Spencer: Are you sure?
Blair: Look, I know I've made a lot of mistakes with men before, but that -- this is -- this is no mistake.
Spencer: Well, I promise you, I will do everything in my power to make sure that what we have doesn't become one.
Blair: And I believe you. I still love looking at her,
Clint: You can't just blame yourself. It's my fault that Jessica had to split her personality.
Viki: How can you possibly say that?
Clint: Well, where was I back then? In Llanview.
Viki: But you're not the one who took her to bars at night.
Clint: It happened right in front of me. And I was too busy running this damn newspaper to understand that my 5-year-old daughter was in danger.
Viki: Clint, you didn't know.
Clint: Well, I should have known. I was her father. I still am. And better late than never, I'm going to fix this. And that means we're not going to rush into this. Because it is just too important. So much is riding on it -- Jessica's sanity, yours. And we're not going to go through this house anymore. We're not going to go through this box until we get the professional help that we need.
Viki: Ok, that's fine. We'll do it whatever way you want.
Clint: Thank you.
Viki: What do we do now?
Tess: Do you love me?
Nash: What kind of a lame question is that? You know I do.
Tess: Then you want me to stick around?
Nash: Of course I do.
Tess: I can't tell you my secret.
Tess: I can't tell anyone, or I'll disappear. Do you want me to be the mother of our baby?
Nash: Would you please stop it with the stupid questions? I just --
Tess: It won't be long until we are a beautiful little family. And George Reston can't hurt us as long as we stick together.
Nash: George Reston -- you have no idea who he is.
Tess: Yes, I do know who he is. He's some rich son of a bitch with too much time on his hands. You talk about him like he's the devil or something. Please, you have no idea about the kind of evil that can live inside a man. I know. And this George Reston guy doesn't even hold a close second.
Nash: Maybe it's the realtor.
Clint: Nash, it's Clint Buchanan.
Nash: How are you, sir, Mr. Buchanan? I guess you figured out Tess is with me.
Clint: Yeah, I've got a message from Kevin saying that she went -- she went looking for you. Where are you anyway? In Llanview?
Nash: No, we're at the vineyard.
Clint: Oh. Well, could you meet with us tomorrow?
Nash: Yeah, sure. Why? What's up?
Clint: We have been thinking about the baby. And we want -- we want Tess here when she has it.
Nash: I understand.
Clint: And she's getting pretty close to the point where she can't fly anymore.
Nash: I'll have her on the first flight tomorrow, Sir.
Clint: Thank you, Nash.
Nash: Sure, Sir. Goodbye.
Tess: Let me guess -- Mommy and Daddy want their princess back.
Viki: What did he say?
Clint: They're catching a flight out first thing in the morning.
Viki: Was he suspicious?
Clint: What difference does it make? We need her here, and he said that they'll be here. We've got to get this done or else we could lose Jessica forever.
Nash: Yeah, they want their princess back. I think they're right. You're already pushing it flying in your third trimester.
Tess: Why should I go back?
Nash: Because I want my two babies safe. Llanfair has the kind of security to keep guys like Reston out. It's the best thing.
Tess: Well, that depends.
Nash: On what?
Tess: On whether you're going to come with me or not.
Paige: I'm sorry I missed Matthew's game. I just -- I couldn't get away.
Bo: From the hospital? Really, I -- you know what? I didn't see you there.
Paige: Well, I -- I could have been down in radiology.
Bo: Yeah. Yeah, of course you could have. It -- probably it. Anyway, you missed a heck of a game.
Paige: It was just the first one. I promise I will be at all the others. Is something wrong?
Bo: You tell me.
Renee: Ok, I'll tell you what I'm going to do. I am going to rustle up that other piece of pie and make sure nobody gets their hands on it except you.
Renee: Hey, Evangeline.
Evangeline: Hi, Renee.
Renee: I have a table over by the window.
Evangeline: Oh, no, thank you. I can't stay.
Renee: Oh, you just came to leave? Well, join the crowd. It's been a very strange night.
Evangeline: How so?
Renee: Dr. Truman ran out on his own award ceremony. Now you, sneaking around with Bo's man trailing you?
Evangeline: Oh. Donít mind him.
Renee: He's not bad-looking.
Evangeline: Yeah, maybe, but he's beginning to annoy me. Listen, you mentioned something about Spencer leaving his award ceremony. What do you know about it?
Renee: Hmm, he got a call and ran out. He said something about Llantano Mountain. I --
Spencer: You sure about this?
Todd: Oh, perfect. Spencer's car. Everybody looks good with a purple moustache.
Tess: So, you coming with me?
Nash: Donít you dare think I'm not still mad at you.
Tess: Huh. After all the Claudia and Reston secrets you've kept from me? You are still mad at me?
Nash: I was in the shower while you, pregnant, are out here having a face-off with a guy like Reston --
Nash: You kidding me?
Tess: How was it like being kept in the dark, Nash?
Nash: Oh, donít you even start with being left in the dark.
Tess: Yeah, we can go back and forth like this all night, ok? But are you going to answer my question? Are you coming with me?
Nash: Ok. So I guess now I'm going to stay up all night and protect you, making sure that Reston doesn't come back here and turn you into hash, huh?
Tess: Aw, aw. Well, you can tell him to bring it on, because it's you and me, baby. Reston won't know what hit him.
Viki: Tess is going to feel ambushed.
Clint: She spends her life feeling ambushed.
Viki: Well, this is different. I mean, she doesn't even know that we've met Rose, and she has no idea that we have what's --
Clint: Viki --
Viki: In this box.
Clint: No matter what happens, Tess is going to scream bloody murder. Now, we're going to go back and talk to Dr. Jamison, and we'll go through this before Tess gets back.
Viki: Oh -- ooh.
Clint: You felt that, too?
Viki: Yeah. Let's get out of here.
Paige: I donít know -- I -- I might have been in radiology, I might have been down at the lab. I -- I was probably in one of those places.
Bo: Yeah. Oh, of course. It's got to be that.
Paige: You donít believe me. I guess things have been really messed up between us ever since I found out who my son is. But the important thing is that I am here now. I am right here, with you and Matthew. And this is where I want to be. Please -- please donít doubt that.
Matthew: Hey, Paige, thanks for coming. Since I got the game ball, could you take me to the sports shack to get one of those cubes for the game ball?
Paige: Well, that -- that's up to your dad.
Matthew: It's cool, right, Dad?
Bo: Yeah. It's cool, son.
Evangeline: Spencer said something about Llantano Mountain?
Renee: Yeah, he asked the concierge how to get there, to the ski lodges -- I donít know.
Todd: At least he's receiving an award and not skiing with my children.
Evangeline: Llantano Mountain --
Renee: Why, does that mean something?
Evangeline: I think it does. You know, thank you. It was good to see you. I'd better go before one of my clients --
Renee: Before they what?
Evangeline: Becomes guilty of another crime. Excuse me.
On the next "One Life to Live" --
John: This case is mine. I donít even know why you want in on it.
Natalie: I want to help you get some closure.
Evangeline: I have to get in touch with Blair. It's a matter of life and death.
Bo: Just got a lead on Manning. Donít let her out of your sight.
Blair: What -- what's wrong?
Spencer: Todd is here.
