One Life to Live Transcript Tuesday 2/7/06

Evangeline: So, you want me here so you have an audience or something while you're working? I always thought painters always work solo.
Cristian: You should probably change.
Cristian: I said take your clothes off.
Natalie: You all right?
John: Yeah, no, I'm good. I'm good.
Adriana: Hey, the club is closed for a party?
Adriana: Well, Rex left me a message to get down here ASAP.
Natalie: Look, I know you don't want to go in, but come on, ever since the Statesville thing happened, all you've been thinking about is work. Maybe a party would do you some good.
John: I don't think a party ever solved any of my problems.
Natalie: Well, maybe it's time to try something new. So, you know, relax, try to have a good time.
John: You know what, maybe you're right. Maybe this isn't going to work after all.
Adriana: Hey. What -- what is this all about? Why's the "Craze" logo all over the place?
Rex: For you.
Rex: Welcome to the Adriana launch.
Guard: Right this way, ma'am.
Dorian: Thank you. You said you wanted to see me. Well, here I am.
Todd: Thank you.
Dorian: No need to thank me. I wouldn't have missed this for the world. You destroyed Blair's life, and I can look you in the eye knowing it's going to be the last time because you have been sentenced to death.
Bo: Thanks. How's she doing?
Michael: Physically, she's fine. She just hyperventilated. We sedated her. Hopefully when it wears off, she should be able to deal with this a little better.
Bo: Yeah, but how do you deal with the fact that your kids' father has been sentenced to death?
Michael: I don't know.
Bo: You think maybe a shrink?
Michael: Couldn't hurt.
Bo: Ok. All right, then I'm going to call Paige. Maybe she can suggest someone.
Michael: You know, she's -- she's not here.
Bo: Where is she?
Michael: I don't know. She left a little while ago with Dr. Truman.
Margaret: Is he all right, healthy?
Spencer: Yes, he's perfect.
Margaret: Of course you are, baby Todd. Mama already knew that.
Paige: Spencer, I -- I need to speak to you.
Paige: What in God's name have you done?
Spencer: I haven't done anything. You have.
Evangeline: Take my clothes off?
Evangeline: What, you want me to pose for you or something? Naked?
Cristian: No. You're my lawyer.
Evangeline: But you just said --
Cristian: What I meant was you should probably get out of your work clothes so you don't get them dirty.
Evangeline: Dirty? What are you talking about?
Cristian: Yeah, you don't want to be worried about getting stuff on you when you're painting.
Evangeline: I don't paint.
Cristian: You do now. Think of it as occupational therapy. All right. Oil or acrylic?
Adriana: You put this whole thing together for me?
Rex: Your first magazine cover comes out today, a magazine you put out practically single-handedly.
Rex: Two careers at once, that's a big deal. And I don't like to do things halfway.
Adriana: Well, it's amazing.
Rex: No, it's nothing. You're what's amazing.
Natalie: John, why are you doing this?
John: This isn't us, Natalie -- hanging around outside some club, trying to be friends. We're never just friends.
Natalie: Right, we're two people who used to be lovers, still speaking to one another. My book, that's a friend.
John: You know, if you can even say something like that, maybe we're more over than we thought.
Todd: I don't want to fight with you, Dorian. I just want to know how Blair is.
Dorian: Blair is fine. I just left her in the emergency room. The other physicians concurred that there's nothing physically wrong with her.
Todd: And the kids?
Dorian: The kids -- the children are being well taken care of.
Todd: They need their mother.
Dorian: Indeed. But she needs to pull herself together. She's going to need all her strength to tell them that their father has been sentenced to death.
Todd: Dorian, the death sentence is for people who kill innocent people. Margaret Cochran wasn't innocent and I didn't kill her.
Todd: I can appeal.
Dorian: You keep saying you're innocent, Todd, but nobody believes you -- not the jury, not Blair, nobody. And as for the appeals process, that could take years. So would it not be a far, far better thing for you not to put your children through all that?
Todd: I see, so you think -- you think I should just give up my right to appeal and let the state kill me?
Dorian: You've lived a disgusting, morally bankrupt life. That's why you ended up in here. Now, if the d is inevitable, wouldn't it be a better thing to finally do the decent thing?
Todd: I'm curious, Dorian. If the roles were reversed, if you were in here and I was out there, would you sit here and listen to this crap? Would you let me tell you to do the decent thing?
Dorian: You told me that you care about Blair and the children.
Todd: Yes, I do.
Dorian: Look at your life, Todd. Do you really think you deserve a second chance? Do us all a favor and just die.
Paige: Spencer, you are not going to lay this on me.
Spencer: I really don't understand you, Paige.
Paige: You forced me to come here and deliver a baby from a woman whose supposed killer just was sentenced to death. Now, I saved that woman and her child, but I'm not going to let you add this to the list of things that you have over my head.
Spencer: And what list of things would that be?
Paige: As soon as I leave here, I'm going to go find Bo and I'm going to tell him that you were hiding Margaret Cochran, and no threats about my terrible, horrible past are going to stop me.
Spencer: Are you finished?
Paige: For the moment.
Spencer: Good, because now you need a lesson in civics and ethics and reality!
Paige: Don't you patronize me, you bastard! You go to hell! And Todd Manning is going free.
Spencer: But is it worth ruining Bo Buchanan's life?
Adriana: Why do you keep doing these things for me?
Rex: Because being the editor of a national magazine is a big deal.
Adriana: Assistant editor.
Rex: You are no assistant. You're a star, a star with brains. Everybody here knows it.
Adriana: Yeah, everybody but me.
Rex: Well, then fake it, act the part. Eventually, you'll believe it. I'm faking being a club owner as we speak.
Natalie: You know, earlier you said getting out would do you some good, so what happened between then and now?
John: I shouldn't have said it. Hey, look, some things I don't do real well, all right? I don't do parties and -- and I don't do this, working so hard to be friends.
Natalie: Well, it's this or nothing, John. I mean, do you want me out of your life?
John: No. But, you know, one of the things I liked about -- one of the things I liked about being with you is we could just be together without so much talking. We just were.
Natalie: Yeah, I remember that, too. But then Statesville happened and Cristian happened, so things are different.
Natalie: Yeah. So you just want to not deal with each other anymore?
David: Ahem. Hello.
David: How are you? Rex, are you aware that you missed about a thousand opportunities for promotion tonight?
Rex: Gee, thank you for bringing that to my attention.
David: Where are the publicists? Why isn't there more press here?
Rex: That wasn't the reason I threw the party, Dave.
David: Come with me. You look spectacular, here and there. You did a great job with the issue. I was looking for flaws. I'm very proud of you.
Adriana: Thank you. And thank you for taking all my calls at all hours of the night. Seriously, I could not have done this job without you.
David: Don't tell Dorian. See you in a minute.
Layla: You see that dude over there?
Layla: He says he works for an Italian modeling agency.
Rex: I've used that line myself.
Layla: No, I saw his card. Anyway, he wanted to know which agency Adriana was with and I said none. Did I do the right thing?
Man: Do you know you have an amazing future ahead of you?
Adriana: I do?
Man: You do. And your lovely friend Layla tells me you don't have any representation. I'd like to change all that.
Natalie: Why don't you stop talking and let's go in and have a beer?
John: Gee, no one ever told me to stop talking.
Natalie: Was that a joke? Are you actually smiling?
John: Why do you keep trying with me?
Natalie: Beats me. Come on. Let's go in there. It's not the rooftop, but I think we can make it work.
Todd: Who are you to tell me to die?
Dorian: I spoke my mind, my conscience is clear, and that's a wonderful thing. You know, Todd, I always did think that, in your own twisted way, you really did love Blair and the children. I know that you believe that you do. But real love requires self-sacrifice, and you're not capable of that.
Todd: What do you know about self-sacrifice, Dorian?
Dorian: I would run into a burning building for any one of my girls.
Todd: And don't you know I would do the same thing for Blair and my children?
Bo: No, it's ok, it's ok.
Bo: Honey, you're ok.
Michael: Sorry about running off like that. I had another case to deal with.
Bo: Yeah. Hey, listen, you said that Paige took off with Spencer. Isn't she on duty tonight?
Michael: She was. Yeah, I'm not sure what they were talking about, but it looked pretty serious. Probably a patient.
Nurse: Doctor? G.S.W. in cubicle four.
Michael: Oh, I got to go, Bo.
Bo: Yeah. What patient?
Paige: You're unbelievable. Your back is to the wall, you are out of ammunition, and still you're making threats, empty as they may be.
Spencer: You should know by now that I never make empty threats, Paige.
Paige: A man has been sentenced to death for the murder of a woman and a child that you not only knew were alive but that you were hiding! And you -- you want me to help you? Do you know me at all?
Spencer: I know you better than anyone else in the world, Paige. I know you better than yourself.
Paige: You are so finished, Spencer. It is over. You are through. Your arrogance has got you neck-deep in the mess --
Spencer: Maybe you won't be quite so moralistic once you realize that you are in this just as deep as I am.
Paige: Oh, no, no, no. I helped a woman in need, which I had taken an oath saying that I would do. But you are letting a man die for a murder that he didn't commit. You've gone too far, Spencer.
Spencer: Don't you walk away from me, Paige. I need your help right now! I was there for you during your hour of need, wasn't I?
Paige: Oh. You know, all right, fine. Go ahead, just tell the world that I was responsible for that man's death. Go ahead! David and I covered it up. Tell them! But I will not be responsible for the death of Todd Manning because you want to be with Blair -- no, even worse, because you want Blair to lose every shred of love that she has for him. It's your game, Spencer. You're all alone. I'm through. I'm out.
Spencer: You don't really feel this way, Paige, because if you don't, if you walk away from me right now, you will spend the rest of your life in jail and you and Bo will never be able to live happily ever after.
Evangeline: All right. Watch out, Cristian, I am looking sexy today.
Cristian: You look fine. Ready to paint?
Evangeline: This must be what it's like to walk into an orchestra pit during a performance with an instrument you've never played before.
Cristian: Try not to talk so much.
Cristian: I didn't mean it that way. You see, painting is like getting the stuff you got inside out onto the canvas, and words can get in the way of that.
Evangeline: But I make my living with words. I like words.
Cristian: But there's more inside you than you can talk about. So put it on the canvas.
Evangeline: But what you put on the canvas is art, and what I'm going to put on the canvas is just crap.
Cristian: You don't know what it's going to be, and you'll never know if you keep talking and don't paint. Just paint.
Evangeline: Sure are bossy.
Cristian: Huh. Scares you, doesn't it -- doing something you're not so sure you'll be great at?
Evangeline: If you're trying to imply that I'm conservative and cautious, you don't know me as well as you think you do. You might be surprised to figure out that I've done some pretty boneheaded things in my life.
Cristian: Evangeline, you can't hurt anybody, you can't make a mistake. You just paint. Don't talk. Don't think. Paint.
Cristian: Asking questions is thinking. Una vez mas. Here. There you go. Now paint.
John: Laying it on a little thick, don't you think?
Natalie: What do you mean, plastering a girl's picture all over the club and then inviting the entire world to watch?
John: Yeah, well, a guy only does that if he's got it bad.
Natalie: Hmm. Yes.
John: Two beers.
Natalie: Imagine that -- a guy expressing his feelings to the entire world.
John: Oh --
Natalie: It's really awful, isn't it?
John: Yeah, heresy, betrayal, all that stuff.
Natalie: No, I think it's sweet. Over the top, but sweet. I didn't think my brother had it in him.
John: You got to hand it to him.
Natalie: Hmm. John?
Natalie: In your head, you're still on duty, aren't you?
Natalie: I understand, but there's nothing you can do about the suspension, so why don't you just try to go with it, relax, just try to calm down?
John: I already did that this morning. Got it out of the way early.
Natalie: You made a joke about yourself. I'm proud -- I'm proud of you.
John: Yeah? Does that mean we can go? No?
Lindsay: Hey, guys.
Lindsay: Lots of fashionable people here tonight. You think any of them are art collectors?
Natalie: I don't know, depends. Is business bad?
Lindsay: No. It's just that Cristian just finished this really incredible painting, but he's not an easy sell these days, not since he came back from the dead.
Natalie: Yes, well, nothing's been easy since Cristian's come back from the dead, and I'm so sorry that you're having so much trouble with the price of his art.
Lindsay: Well, I'm really rather sorry for him. Nice seeing you both.
John: That exchange just kind of left me with a need to go to the bathroom. Be back in a minute.
Rex: I saw you here with John. I thought you were probably having too much fun.
Natalie: Bite me.
Rex: You can't get me mad. I'm in too good a mood.
Rex: I think.
Natalie: You think?
Rex: Did I do good? Do you think Adriana liked it?
Natalie: If she didn't, she has no soul. Who's that guy who's all over her?
Rex: He's an agent. He wants to sign her.
Natalie: So just how into this girl are you, Rex?
Rex: Oh, my God, you've morphed into Roxy.
Natalie: Answer the question.
Rex: I'm crazy about her. You have to keep your mouth shut about this.
Natalie: I hate to break it to you, Rex, but nine out of 10 people in this room know how crazy about her you are. The question is, does she?
Rex: What? Look around, Natty.
Natalie: Women want to hear the words, trust me. And it looks to me like Mr. Agent knows a lot of words.
Todd: When Margaret Cochran came into my life, I had everything. I had everything at my fingertips. Blair was going to marry me, I was going to have a family.
Dorian: Well, that's over because Blair hates you now.
Todd: No, nothing is over till I say it's over! And you believe me, you're not going to be a part of that decision!
Dorian: Well, with your kind permission, this meeting is over.
Todd: No, I don't think so! You wait.
Dorian: Wait for what, Todd?
Todd: Ahem. I need something, and you're going to help me get it.
Paige: Get off of me. I'm not going to prison for something I didn't do.
Spencer: Todd did.
Paige: I'm going to fix that.
Spencer: You're not going to fix anything, Paige. You're a great doctor, but you don't know anything about the law. For instance, there is no statute of limitations on murder. You see, things don't always work out the way we want them to, do they? Unless, of course, you happen to be me.
Paige: Who in their right mind would ever want to be you?
Spencer: I'll give you credit where credit is due. I mean, I can honestly say for certain that I couldn't have accomplished near what I've been able to accomplish without your help.
Paige: No. No, no, I just delivered the baby, which was my ethical duty.
Spencer: You're just not getting the picture, Paige. What I'm saying is, is that you are the reason that Margaret and the baby are alive now and Todd is going to be executed --
Paige: That is not going to happen.
Spencer: For their murders.
Spencer: It's really hard to see what he saw in her, isn't it?
Margaret: Spencer? Spencer!
Paige: Bo? It's me.
Bo: Paige, where are you? Did something happen with Spencer?
Cristian: You're like one of those guys at the circus who paints your face on a grain of rice. Loosen up a little bit.
Evangeline: Loosening up? You can't tell a person to loosen up. It's a process.
Cristian: Process, right.
Evangeline: Loosening up is a process, ok?
Cristian: A process, right. I'll show you process. Here. Here, here's a process.
Evangeline: Cristian --
Evangeline: What are you doing? "Well," what? You going to slop paint all over us? That's part of your process?
Cristian: Why not? Evangeline, this isn't a library and it isn't a courtroom. Do something without letting your head tell you no. There you go. See?
Evangeline: Oh. I'm sorry. I mean, I'm not sorry, really. I'm not really sorry at all. Actually, I feel like I'm loosening up a little bit.
Cristian: No, you did good, you did good. You didn't think. That's -- that's really good.
Evangeline: Cristian! Cristian! How is that for thinking? I like not thinking! I love not thinking! Watch the hair, buddy! Watch the hair! Ah!
Adriana: I'm really grateful for your interest in my career, but I have so much to think about, including the march issue of "Craze." February came out today and we're already behind again.
Man: As smart and ambitious as you are beautiful. I am not going to forget about you, Adriana.
Adriana: I know, most people would probably give their right arm to have a career as a model, but I just started working at "Craze" and I really like it.
Layla: Ok, look, you're going to find out, anyway. I started a new job, too. I'm working at Buchanan Enterprises -- with Duke.
Adriana: Oh, I -- I had no idea.
Layla: I figured.
Adriana: Duke and I, we don't really talk anymore.
Layla: Yeah, sorry.
Adriana: Me, too. Next time I'm with someone, I'm going to try really hard not to screw it up.
Denton: I know you.
David: I know you, too. You worked for Todd Manning at "The Sun" when I was at "Craze."
Denton: Yeah, that's something about Todd Manning being sentenced to death.
David: Yeah, pretty wild.
Denton: I guess the system, good as it is, sometimes don't work, does it?
David: What does that mean?
Dorian: Todd, how could you possibly expect anything from me? All right, what do you want?
Todd: The only thing you and I have in common is a hatred for Spencer Truman, right?
Dorian: Keep talking.
Todd: He's after Blair.
Dorian: Oh. So you aren't so preoccupied with yourself that you failed to notice that.
Todd: No, Blair gets sick of you once in a while, but she also listens to you. I want you to do whatever it takes to keep him away from he
Dorian: You know, if you hadn't lied to Blair and isolated her, Spencer wouldn't have had a chance.
Todd: Just listen to me! I want you to keep that bastard away from my wife. Yeah, that's right, I still think of her as my wife. And I won't be able to sleep a wink in here if I imagine him with his hand on her. You do it. You do whatever it takes to keep him away from her, you got it?
Paige: Why would you ask me about Spencer?
Bo: Well, I'm at the hospital with Blair. Now, Michael told me that he saw you and Spencer leave together.
Paige: Yeah, there was, um, an emergency outside the hospital. I'll explain it all when I see you. Can you meet me in my office?
Bo: Sure, sure. Now, are you all right?
Paige: No. But I will be after we talk.
Spencer: Well, looky there. You are still here.
Paige: How are Margaret and the baby?
Spencer: Fine, fine. Mother and baby are just fine, very healthy.
Paige: Well, then I'm leaving.
Spencer: Going off to the hospital, are you? Going off to tell Bo everything? Is that it? Well, before you go, I just thought you really might like for me to answer a few of your questions. Like why I had you appointed chief of staff, for instance?
Paige: What the hell are you talking about?
Spencer: Actually, never mind. You know, I'm a terrible storyteller. It might be better off if you just went to your office and opened the filing cabinet and read the file. You know, the locked filing cabinet?
Paige: I have the only key.
Spencer: Apparently not. I would definitely read the file, Paige, before I'd go running off to Bo with any unfounded accusations.
Paige: You are a sick, twisted man.
Spencer: I've heard that recently.
Spencer: Happy reading.
Margaret: Isn't he handsome? I think he's more handsome than his father.
Spencer: Listen to me, Margaret, you've got diapers, formula, everything you need down here to last you for the next couple of days, all right? I'll be back.
Margaret: Well, don't you want to know what I'm going to name him? Todd Spencer Manning Jr. So he never forgets what you've done for us.
Natalie: Hey, have you seen John?
Lindsay: Um, a little while ago when he left.
Natalie: He left?
Lindsay: He didn't tell you?
Natalie: So much for being friends.
Lindsay: You know what? I can tell you from experience that that doesn't work.
Natalie: Right. Listen, before when you were telling me about Cristian's paintings --
Lindsay: Hey, it's just been a really rough time all the way around for him. People were just getting interested in his work when he disappeared. It's just another thing he lost.
Natalie: Maybe it'll help him if he talks. Maybe I'll have better luck with ex number two.
Denton: I just mean that if Todd Manning still says he isn't guilty, how often when men are at the point of death have they been merry, hmm? And he still gets the needle, anyways. I mean --
Natalie: See ya, David.
David: Yeah, see ya. You testified in court. You said that Todd paid you to cover for him.
Denton: Yeah, but that don't mean he's guilty, does it?
Dorian: You are in no position to be giving orders.
Todd: Don't do it for me, Dorian, do it for yourself. I would get Spencer out of Blair's life before he gets you out of it first. You think he's going to keep you around with you gunning for him?
Dorian: All right, I'll do it. But not for you. I'll do it because it's the right thing to do.
Todd: I don't care why you do it, just do it.
Dorian: Fine. Now I want you to do something. I want you to think long and hard about your children, what it's going to be like for them growing up knowing that their father is a baby killer. Having you for a father, Todd, is enough of a curse. End that curse, because it's the only right thing to do. Thank you.
Paige: Oh, God.
Bo: I'm going to go see Paige, ok? Let me know if there's any changes with Blair.
Michael: Yeah. You know what? I think she's going to be fine, really. I mean, the sedative's wearing off and I'm going to do everything I can to make sure she stays calm, you know?
Michael: The poor woman's been through a lot.
Bo: Yeah, more than her share. And it's not over yet. I'll talk to you later.
Spencer: How's Blair?
Michael: She's stable. We have her sedated.
Blair: Hey. Where you been?
Spencer: I, uh -- I'm here now. And I'm never going to leave you again.
Paige: "33-year-old female, 38-week-old fetus."
Paige: Oh, God.
Paige: "Llanview hospital." "Body release form." "D.N.A. --" "D.N.A. Sample received from Commissioner Bo Buchanan on October 11, 2005 is 99.9% match to one Margaret Cochran."
Paige: Oh, God. Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, my God. Oh, no.
Evangeline: Stop it, Cristian! Cristian, Cristian. Time-out, ok? I'll pay whatever you want, ok? Time-out.
Cristian: All right. Fair enough. It's a -- the place is a mess.
Natalie: Next time I'll remember to call first.
Rex: So, did you have a good time?
Adriana: Yeah, I did.
Adriana: But I was just wondering when we're going to be alone so that I can thank you properly.
Rex: Well, it looks like you're about to get your wish.
Margaret: Oh. Oh, don't worry, baby. Daddy's coming. Daddy's coming daddy's coming
Blair: Just -- ugh. It must be the drugs.
Spencer: Yeah, it's ok. No, you're going to be fine. I'll tell you what, I'm going to check you out of here and take you home, all right?
Blair: Uh-uh. I don't want that.
Spencer: All right, well, you can stay here and rest then.
Blair: No. Spencer? I want to go home with you.
Paige: Spencer, you son of a bitch!
Paige: Oh, my God.
Paige: You knew I would turn myself in. But not Bo. Never Bo.
[Knock on door]
Bo: Hey, there you are, honey. What is it that you wanted to tell me?
On the next "One Life to Live" --
Clint: Tess is not the only woman that you have feelings for.
Niki: You want somebody to pay? Go collect from your mother.
Adriana: So what are we supposed to do now?
Rex: I've got a few ideas.
Bo: It's Spencer, isn't it?
