David: Stalking me?
Dorian: Ha, don't flatter yourself. I just had a meeting with a writer I've commissioned to do an article for "Craze" magazine -- "Brilliant Women and Disastrous Men."
David: Huh. Well, I guess it's too late for you.
Dorian: Maybe it is. And maybe it's too late for Cassie or Blair or Kelly, but it better not be too late for Adriana.
Layla: Hey. Table for one, or did you work things out with Rex?
Adriana: There's nothing to work out.
Layla: Ok, just asking.
Adriana: He went behind my back, manipulated a model that was supposed to pose for "Craze." He cost us a session fee. But he did it for me. But he's a womanizer. But he's so romantic. No, he's a sneak and an arrogant jerk, ok? He's so sure of himself. It's like good Rex or bad Rex, you know? He's like this reckless little boy, and then there's this really sexy man.
Layla: Um, who's standing right behind you.
Viki: What are you doing? Unless -- are you --
Jessica: No, Mom, it's me. I'm Jessica. Listen, I came in from seeing Todd and I was upset, and Nash --
Viki: And Nash took advantage of you because you were vulnerable.
Jessica: Mom --
Viki: So if Tess is not around, you just make a play for Jessica? Is that what this is?
Spencer: I'm sorry.
Blair: Not as sorry as I am.
Kevin: I need to tell you something.
Kelly: All right, go on.
Kevin: Uh -- I know that you want a baby more than anything.
Kelly: Not just a baby, our baby.
Kevin: That may not be possible.
Kelly: Kevin, come on. Spencer's procedure was a total success. I can carry a baby to term. I am absolutely positive I can have your child.
Kevin: You're not the problem. I am.
Kelly: What are you talking about?
Kevin: I'm sterile.
David: You need my help. You virtually asked me for my help the other day.C You told me, in so many words, that you have no idea how to put out an issue of "craze." And then when you were so upset that Starr was missing, you and I actually started to work together. It felt like old times, for a couple of minutes.
Dorian: If you're so desperate for a job, I suggest you look into the want ads, ok? Though, I doubt they have many ads for petty thieves or has-been con artists.
David: Flattery will get you nowhere.
Clint: You know, Viki has taken Todd's conviction pretty hard. I wish there was something I could do to help her.
Asa: Well, I thought you and Viki were on the outs.
Clint: We've had our differences lately, yeah, but still --
Asa: Whoa. She has got her own house, so that means you cannot move her in here.
Clint: Like Nash, you mean.
Asa: You're right. Why the hell do you go out of your way for that kid?
Clint: I'm doing it for Jessica. I mean, he came all the way back from California and he wants to help her.
Asa: Oh, so I see. He gets free room and board for the rest of his damn life?
Clint: Pa, I don't have time to argue with you, ok? I'm going to go see Jessie, so I'll catch you later. Can I help you?
Man: Yeah, I've got a business meeting with Mr. Buchanan.
Asa: That's right. You can go. I'll see you later.
Clint: All right.
Asa: Close the door. Ok. Now, let's see what you got.
Man: Here's my report.
Asa: I do not want to read any damn report. Just tell me what you found out. Who is trying to get to me? Who planted that woman's photo in my lodge, and did you find the woman herself?
Blair: I appreciate your sensitivity, and you've been nothing but a complete gentleman through my entire nightmare. But you've also made no secret that -- well, that you've been attracted to me.
Spencer: Couldn't hide it if I wanted to.
Blair: And I appreciate your honesty.
Spencer: Well, ok. Although, I do have my share of secrets.
Margaret: It's time to go see daddy at the lake, sweetheart.
Spencer: But I am being honest with you when I tell you that I am starting to have very real feelings for you.
Antonio: What's going on here?
Jessica: Nothing. Nothing.
Nash: Mrs. Davidson misinterpreted something she thought she saw.
Antonio: Well, what did you see?
Viki: Nothing that you need to concern yourself with, Antonio, ok?
Antonio: You ready?
Jessica: Um, give me one sec. I just got to go get my gloves.
Antonio: All right. Jessica and I are going to Capricorn. I have a romantic evening planned for the two of us.
Viki: Please keep a very, very close eye on her tonight.
Antonio: I won't let anything happen to her, Viki. You have my word.
Viki: Thank you.
Jessica: All set. Bye, Mom. See you later.
Viki: Bye. Have a lovely evening.
Jessica: Thank you. Nash? Thanks.
Nash: Well, I'm sorry about the misunderstanding.
Viki: Just a minute. You and I are going to straighten a few things out.
Blair: What did you just say to me?
Spencer: I have feelings for you. It's never been a big secret, Blair. I've been attracted to you since the first moment we met. What man wouldn't be? The thing is the better I get to know you, the stronger my feelings for you become. And that's very, very important to me, and I don't want you thinking that in any way I would ever try to take advantage of you.
Blair: By kissing me?
Spencer: Well, yeah. I know you still have very strong feelings for Todd.
Blair: I -- I just want to forget about Todd. I want all this pain to go away.
Spencer: Well, maybe I can help you with that. I will be there for you as long as you need me to be, but as a friend first. Understand?
Adriana: How much did you hear?
Rex: Nothing, really. I make it a point never to eavesdrop. That way you don't hear more than you want to know.
Adriana: I'll have to remember that. Uh -- so the February issue of "Craze" is coming out at the end of the week, only a couple weeks late.
Rex: It's going to fly off the shelves. You're going to be the new "it" girl.
Adriana: Oh, no, my modeling career is over.
Rex: What? No, you're a natural. You've got what it takes. Not to mention, the perfect name -- Adriana.
Adriana: I don't think so.
Duke: So --
Adriana: Too soon for small talk?
Duke: I'm not sure. But it's definitely too soon for me to feel comfortable seeing you with him.
Kelly: How? When did this happen?
Kevin: One of the side effects of the virus I caught on New Year's Eve is sterility.
Kelly: I don't understand.
Kevin: Yeah, join the club.
Kelly: So, you're saying that this virus --
Kevin: I'm saying that the almost impossible warm-weather virus that I contracted in the dead of winter in the middle of a snowstorm has left me sterile. That's what I'm saying.
Kevin: Yes. I am so sorry. I'd do --
Kelly: No, baby, don't say that. You -- you didn't do anything. You got sick, that's all.
Kevin: What do you mean, I didn't do it? I put an end to your dream, that's what I did.
Kelly: No, no, my dream is not over. Not by a long shot. I love you. I love you.
Roxy: Ooh, you are in like gin, baby boy.
Rex: Uh, not my drink.
Roxy: Hey, darling, I'm talking about hot pants. She and Duke are absotively kaput-a-mundo.
Rex: I know, mom. That doesn't mean she's going to come running to me.
Antonio: Listen, earlier, when I came to pick you up, what was really going on between you and Nash?
Jessica: I was just asking about Tess.
Antonio: What did he tell you?
Jessica: Nothing much. You know, if it's ok with you, I would rather not talk about it.
Antonio: It's more than ok. Tonight's about the two of us. It'll be a night to remember, I promise.
Viki: I do not want you trying to endear yourself to Jessica. Do you understand? It will just confuse her. Her stability is strengthened by the stable influences in her life. That is her home, her family, and Antonio! You, sir, are not a part of her world!
Nash: "Sir?" Fine. You've made your point.
Viki: Once Jessica is integrated, Tess will be gone.
Nash: Jessica may very well be carrying my child. So with all due respect, Mrs. Davidson, that makes me a very big part of her world.
Viki: Are you implying that I don't know what's best for my own daughter?
Clint: What's going on here?
Viki: I'm so glad you're here, because you said you would be responsible for him. Well, I would like you to take responsibility right now and you make him see how dangerous he is to Jessica.
Clint: Viki, what's going on? Viki! What just happened here?
Nash: Jessica was upset about her uncle Todd's conviction. She broke down. I comforted her. And Mrs. Davidson came in to find me with my arms around Jessica.
Clint: And Viki jumped to conclusions?
Nash: She accused me of having ulterior motives.
Clint: Do you?
Nash: Hmm. Yes, I believe I do, sir.
Spencer: I should go.
Blair: No, no, no. I don't want to be here. I don't want to be alone in this apartment, around Todd's things.
Spencer: Well, let's go someplace else.
Spencer: Sure. I know just the place. Let's go.
Blair: Ok, anyplace where we don't have to talk about the weather. Now, is this casual or dressy or --
Spencer: A little of both, actually.
Blair: You're a great help. Ok. Spencer, you've been so great to me through all this. I don't know how I'm ever going to thank you. I just wish there was something that I could do.
Spencer: I have everything I need.
Man: It wasn't easy, but I managed to track the woman to New Jersey.
Asa: She still living there now?
Man: It's -- it's where she died.
Asa: She's dead?
Man: Yeah, some time ago. I guess you two hadn't been in touch for years, huh?
Asa: A long time.
Man: I'm sorry.
Asa: What for? I want you to just tell me who planted that photo in my damn lodge.
Man: Well, I -- I haven't found that out yet, but I'm working on it.
Asa: Work harder.
Man: I'll get back to you.
Asa: How long have you been there?
Renee: Are you all right?
Asa: Just leave me alone.
Renee: Not until you tell me what's going on. You've been behaving this way since New Year's, and it can't go on.
Asa: I will behave any damn way I please.
Renee: Something happened New Year's. And I want to know what it was.
David: You know, when you and I were trying to find Starr, I -- I actually did miss you. But there's this other side of you, Dorian -- this bitter, angry woman who wouldn't take me back and who delights in seeing a good woman suffer.
Dorian: A good woman? So a bowl of popcorn and a rented movie makes you the president of the Viki Davidson fan club?
David: You could've had someone to share your life with, someone who brought out the best in you. And now, instead of all that, you get all this. Drink up.
Nash: Mrs. Davidson thinks that if I can't have Tess, I'll have the next best thing, but all I'm trying to do is make Tess more real to Jessica so that maybe -- just maybe -- Tess will be the dominant personality and we'll have a chance, just a shot at a future together. But Mrs. Davidson would like me to let her go.
Clint: Well, she was wrong to say that.
Viki: Really? Nash? Excuse us, please.
Viki: You think that I am wrong to try to save that boy the pain and the anguish of holding on to a dream that will never come true?
Clint: I think you've been wrong about a whole lot of things lately, and I think the time has come to get everything out in the open.
Viki: Well, that's just fine by me because I have a few things to say to you.
Kelly: My dream is meaningless if you're not in it. You have to believe that.
Kevin: You know what? I am so tired of talking about this and thinking about it. I just -- let's just do something uncomplicated like, I don't know, have some fun or something.
Kelly: Ok. And then we can come back here and have a little bit more fun, huh, just because -- just because we love each other. Ok?
Asa: Nothing happened New Year's Eve except nobody showed up for the family gathering. So I shared some of your drink along with mine. I want to tell you something right now -- I am so sick and tired of everybody hounding me about it.
Renee: We were worried about you.
Asa: Don't be. I had a checkup. Doc says I'm as healthy as a young buck.
Renee: Well, that's good news. We could take a trip, go to St. Blaze's.
Asa: No, I can't do that. I still keep a hand in the business, and there are certain things I must, must take care of myself.
Spencer: You sure you're ready for this?
Blair: Actually, being out makes me feel better already.
Blair: Hey, look how gorgeous you look!
Adriana: You, too. It's so great that you're here.
Blair: Feels good to be out.
Spencer: You two excuse me for a moment?
Spencer: All right.
Blair: Glass of wine?
Spencer: Pinot Grigio?
Blair: Yes, sir. Thank you.
Spencer: Hello. Two Pinot Grigios, please.
David: Wow, Spencer, congratulations. You broke a land speed record moving in on the widow manning.
Spencer: She's not married, David, and all I'm doing is merely helping Blair get through a rough time, that's all.
David: You don't merely do anything.
Spencer: For God's sakes, David, I'm a doctor. I've dedicated my life to helping people, haven't I? Kelly, for instance, and Kevin.
David: What have you done for Kevin?
Spencer: Let's just say I've helped shape his future.
David: Huh. And what about Asa?
Spencer: You mean the photograph?
David: Yes, Spencer, the photograph. What does she have to do with Asa Buchanan?
Rex: So has the jury reached a verdict?
Rex: Am I bad or am I good? Insecure or sure of myself? Reckless boy or sexy man?
Adriana: I thought you didn't hear any of that.
Rex: Well, I lied. Which I guess tips the scale of justice over to the bad-boy side.
Antonio: All right, this is what I'm talking about! Welcome to Capricorn.
Antonio: And we have a really special guest here this evening. He's a personal friend of mine. I'm so excited to have him here. Please join me in welcoming an extremely talented individual. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Tito Puente Jr.! [Cheers]
Tito: Thank you, guys, very much. Hold on, hold on, one second. Antonio, man, we want you to jam with the band tonight.
Antonio: No, bro, that's --
Tito: Yeah. Yeah, come on!
Tito: One, two. One, two, three, four.
["Ran kan kan" plays]
[Singing in Spanish]
Viki: I do not appreciate the fact that you have undermined every single attempt I have made to help our daughter.
Clint: Can you give me an example?
Viki: Oh, I can give you two. Your refusal to acknowledge the fact that Niki Smith is the key to finding out the trauma that caused Jessica to split in the first place and your insistence on supporting this Nash, who is in love with a woman he can never have and whose very presence here upsets Jessica and impedes her recovery.
Clint: Well, you just gave me two examples of how I disagree with you, which is way different than undermining.
Viki: What are we going to do, argue semantics?
Clint: Listen, I came back to Llanview to help my daughter, and if she needs me, I will stay here forever, in spite of the fact that I gave up a life in London and the woman that I love.
Viki: What do you want, a medal?
Clint: You know, you could start by putting a lid on the snide comments because I am getting damn frustrated at your imposing all these so-called rules on our daughter's recovery.
Viki: Does it not occur to you that we need rules? Otherwise, this entire situation would spiral of control.
Clint: Does it not occur to you that you imposing your rules on everybody else may not be entirely fair?
Viki: Clint! I have been where Jessica is and I know better than anybody what she needs and what she does not need!
Clint: Not really.
Clint: I may not have D.I.D., but I've seen it from the other side. I have lived with it for years, and I have a totally different perspective of Jessica's condition than you do. And because I've lived with it for years, I am somewhat sympathetic to other people going through the same thing like Nash Brennan.
Viki: Oh. Well, then let's just feel sorry for Nash. And then he and Tess can go live on the other side of the country, and to hell with Jessica?
Clint: Now, wait just a minute. A part of Jessica loves Nash Brennan, just like the Niki part of you loved Harry O'Neil when we were married.
Viki: Please, please do not dredge that up.
Clint: Viki, you know something? I think that you are terrified of Tess, more terrified even than Jessica is.
Viki: Ok, that doesn't even make any sense.
Clint: You don't like to think that Tess is real because that makes Niki real. But Tess is a flesh-and-blood personality of her own, capable of inflicting pain on all the people who love Jessica, just like Niki did to the people who loved you. You need Niki Smith to be whole, but the fact that you haven't accepted that yet, that keeps her alive somewhere inside of you.
Viki: Oh, what are you saying? That Niki's existence right now is my fault?
Clint: I know you better than anybody in the world, Viki. And I think that you are denying Jessica of Tess even if it's Tess that she needs to make herself better, and the reason you're doing that is you want to protect your Jessie from all the horrific things that you experienced, even at the expense of her recovery.
Viki: Get out. Get out of this house. Get out!
Clint: I'll be leaving. But I want you to think about what I said and remember that we can't help with Jessica's recovery if we're not on the same page, and that page cannot come out of the book of Niki Smith.
Niki's voice: Hey. Clint's right, you know. You're just trying to make up for all the lousy things I did by making sure Tess don't follow in my footsteps.
Viki: No, I am not. I am trying to help her get well!
Niki's voice: Well, she ain't going to get well without me, honey, so you better let me out.
Viki: No way. I don't trust you.
Niki's voice: And Clint don't trust you. You want to get rid of him? Let me out.
Niki's voice: Come on, Viki. Just do it to spite him. You know, I'll -- I'll make up for all the dirty tricks I ever pulled on you and yours, I promise you, ok? Do it, Viki. You know you want to!
Niki: Hey! Clint! Ok! Guess I owe you one.
[Latin music plays]
Blair: Hey. You know, I'm just going to cut to the chase. Is there anything else in my life that you want to keep from me, Kelly?
Kelly: What are you talking about?
Blair: You know what I'm talking about.
Kelly: Ok, look, if you're talking about Todd and Margaret, you're right, I knew --
Blair: You know, you say you want to be a close family? Why don't you act like it.
Spencer: You know what to do.
David: Duke, I think Kelly's upset about something. You might want to check on her. Around there.
Antonio: I'd like to dedicate this next song to the most beautiful woman in the world -- Jessica Buchanan.
Tito: One, two, three, four.
["Que Sera" plays]
[Singing in Spanish]
Jessica: Mom, is everything all right?
Niki: Yes. Honey, I need to talk to you outside.
Jessica: Is it Nash? Did something happen after I left?
Niki: No, no, no. I'll tell you outside.
Dorian: Un trago mas, por favor.
Clint: Hi. Bourbon, rocks, please. Thanks.
Dorian: Evening, Clint.
Dorian: You look like you've been put through the wringer.
Clint: Actually, I put somebody else through the wringer. I said some pretty rough things to somebody I cared about.
Dorian: I can relate to that.
Clint: What do you say that we expunge those names? What are you looking at? "Expunge" is a word. We expunge those names from our vocabulary, for tonight at least.
Dorian: I know the meaning of the word "expunge." Not only do I know it, I endorse it. Here goes, Cowboy. Expunge away.
Clint: Hear, hear.
Dorian: How's that working for you?
Clint: It's not. You up for a challenge?
Jessica: What's wrong, mom?
Niki: Hey. Seemed like old times in there, didn't it? Just you, me, in a bar with guys?
Niki: Come on, you remember! Oh, wait a minute. You don't remember. It's the other one who remembers.
Niki: Guess I couldn't fool you, could I?
Jessica: What do you want?
Niki: I want the other one. I want Tess.
Jessica: Well, Tess is gone.
Tess' voice: No, I'm not.
Niki: Come on! Jessie, you're scared, and when you're scared, you need Tess.
Tess' voice: Niki's right. Let me out and I'll take care of things.
Jessica: No, I can't.
Niki: Tess? Come on, Tess, come on out and play. Come on, you can be with your mother.
Jessica: You are nobody's mother.
Niki: Hey. Remember the roadside bar? Remember the good times, Tess?
Jessica: Please, no more!
Niki: Yeah, it was me and Jess, or me and Tess -- a couple of broads hanging out, having a good time, Tess?
Jessica: Stop it! Please stop!
Niki: Good! You're just the girl I was looking for.
Dorian: Not only will I take that bet, but I dare you. There is no way that you can get that olive into that glass without touching it.
Clint and Dorian: Ooh.
Clint: Done and done! And you haven't even seen me stand on my head yet.
Clint: You should see that.
Dorian: I can't wait. But you cheated. Now, now, you want to see some -- ahem -- some magic? It's a little shell game I learned from David. It's real --
Clint: Whoa, whoa, whoa! That name's been expunged.
Dorian: True. Expunged. So, what do we do next?
Asa: Damn it, Renée. You going to sit there and stare at me all night, huh?
Renee: Until you tell me what's going on.
Asa: Ok, I'll tell you what's going on. You can sit there for a month for all I care. Me? I'm going to get some shuteye.
Renee: After all these years. Why now?
[Latin music plays]
Rex: You still haven't answered my question.
Adriana: No. I haven't. Good night.
Rex: I'd say the scales are definitely tipping in my favor.
Roxy: Thanks, kiddo.
Roxy: Come on.
David: I'm going home.
Spencer: Hang on, hang on. There's one more thing I need you to do for me.
David: Is this ever going to end?
Spencer: David, I'm this close to having everything I came here for.
David: Don't use that gesture when you talk to Blair.
Duke: Hey. Been looking for you.
Kelly: Hey. Great music, huh?
Duke: What's wrong?
Duke: Kelly, come on. I can tell when you're upset. Now, is it my dad, his health, or what?
Duke: It's his health? Yeah, I knew there could be some side effects from that virus that -- hey, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Kevin: I'll have another one, beer chaser.
David: You having fun, Kevin?
Kevin: [Irish accent] Great. I'm having a great time.
David: Well, I just saw Kelly. It doesn't look like she's having a great time.
Kevin: [Normal voice] Where is she?
Kelly: He's so worried. And I can tell that it's -- it's not about himself, it's about me. But I just -- I just want him to know that no matter what, if -- if I had lost him, I don't know what I would have done and that's all I care about.
Duke: Hey, hey, you -- you have to care about your future, too, ok, and I know that having a baby means more to you than just about anything.
Spencer: Hey. Where you going?
Blair: I just came to say good night. I want to get home before it's too late.
Spencer: All right, I'll drive you.
Blair: No, no, no, I called a cab. But I had a really great time, so thank you . I need to go home, kind of figure out what it's going to be like without Todd. Good night.
Roxy: Oh, give me Tito's phone number.
Antonio: Oh, no, I can't do that, but I'm glad you --
Roxy: Hey, isn't that what's-his-toes?
Tess: So you did that on purpose? You manipulated Jessica to let me out.
Niki: Mm-hmm, yep.
Niki: Because you and me, kid, we got to help each other out.
Tess: I don't need any help from you. I have to go find Nash.
Niki: You know what? Before you take off, there's something you kind of need to know about the little old winemaker.
On the next “One Life to Live” --
David: Dorian would never fall for a Buchanan.
Spencer: Don't be so sure.
Niki: Mr. Boyfriend Nash is in love with Jessica.
Antonio: Jessica will be integrated, Tess will disappear.
Cristian: Everyone's telling you get help. Might be something to it.
