One Life to Live Transcript Friday 12/2/05

Evangeline: Well, if you can't tell me what's going on at Statesville, then you need to find me someone who can.
Officer: Everyone's upset here, too, ma'am. The commissioner' been shot.
Hugh: Bo's ok.
Evangeline: Are you sure?
Hugh: I just got the call. He's in I.C.U., but he's expected to make a full recovery.
Officer: I'll spread the word.
Hugh: Thank you.
Evangeline: Officer, I apologize. Listen, Bo's really going to be ok?
Hugh: Yeah, yeah, it was tough and go for a while, but he pulled through.
Evangeline: Well, what else have you heard?
Hugh: E.S.U.'s taken the roof. They've got every sector of the prison secured, except for a few small pockets of resistance.
Evangeline: And that's where John is?
Hugh: My contact says Carlo Hesser may be holding him hostage.
Hugh: Want some more bad news?
Evangeline: Yeah, sure, why not? Keep it coming.
Hugh: I just got the autopsy report from the outside M.E. you hired. Looks like Todd Manning's been selling you a bill of goods.
Todd: Guard? What time is it?
Guard: Visiting hours are almost over, if that's what you're asking.
Todd: When my fiancée comes, make sure she gets in here, ok?
Guard: It's pretty late. Maybe the blonde's given up on you.
Todd: Her name's blair. She'll be here.
Blair: Oh -- oh, God.
Spencer: Hello, Blair. You want to come in?
Blair: Um --
Officer: Find out what the choppers are seeing.
Natalie: You pig. You're working for Carlo Hesser.
Haskell: Do I need to remind you that I'm holding a gun on you?
Natalie: What are you going to do, shoot me, shoot me like you shot Cristian? You did that on purpose, didn't you? Did you tip off Hesser? That's why Bo got shot, isn't it?
Haskell: You're a very smart girl.
Natalie: Ok, so now what? What are you going to do to me?
Haskell: Hmm. You're the smart one. You do the math.
Carlo: Barber? Barber, answer me! That explosion seemed to come from the warden's office, and now Barber isn't answering.
Inmate: You think he's dead?
Carlo: With any luck, he took one or both of the Johns – Mc Bain and Doe -- with him. Check out the warden's office. Kill anyone you find there. Make a clean sweep of the hallways. Find them! Or what's left of them.
John: Come on, you can do this! You can do this.
Blair: Well, I -- I should have called -- but, you know, I did call. I swear, I called and I left a message.
Spencer: I don't normally answer the door like this. I thought it was the valet with my dry cleaning.
Blair: I'm sorry.
Spencer: I'm sorry. Just come on in for a minute. It'll only take a second to get dressed, all right?
Blair: Oh --
Spencer: Close the door for me, would you?
Spencer: I've been in surgery most of the day. I just had to come home and take a shower.
Blair: Do you -- you think the hotels just buy all this stuff in bulk?
Spencer: Got me. I have no idea.
Blair: Hmm. None of your stuff is here.
Spencer: What, you mean, like, warm family photos or something? It's not -- it's just not the Truman style. They don't exist.
Blair: Well, your dad was a con man, right?
Spencer: One of the best.
Blair: It's funny you went in such a different direction.
Spencer: Well, yeah. That's kind of the idea, you know?
Blair: Hmm. Well, I guess it's the right way to go, living in a hotel.
Spencer: Well, I suppose. I don't know. It's a poor substitute for a real home and someone to share it with.
Blair: Yeah, a real home. Yeah, it's about everything, except when it starts to fall apart.
Spencer: You didn't come here to discuss my living arrangements, did you?
Blair: Oh. No. I actually -- I came to tell you that you were right.
Spencer: About what?
Blair: About me going to the D.A.'s office.
Spencer: Oh. It didn't turn out so well, huh?
Blair: Oh, that's an understatement. There was a well-known criminal in the office when I arrived, Jackie Mc Naughton, and he claims that Todd tried to hire him to kill Margaret Cochran.
Spencer: So do you believe that?
Blair: Oh, I don't know, Spencer. You know, I -- I caught Mc Naughton and Todd together at The Palace, you know, months ago, and I was very suspicious at the time. I talked to Todd about it, he denied everything, and then I believed him. But when I walked in there today and I saw him, you know, it completely caught me off guard. And I as good as admitted that -- that Todd had lied.
Spencer: Oh, I'm sorry, Blair. It doesn't make me very happy to know I was right about this.
Blair: And if that weren't enough, I got a very strange phone message from Ginger Foley.
Blair: Mm-hmm. She was very upset. It must have happened right before she was hit by that car.
Spencer: Was she just trying to make amends or --
Blair: Maybe. She left this message saying that I probably didn't want to talk to her, but the weird part was she said, "he's not who you think he is."
Blair: Yeah. At first, I thought she might have been talking about Todd, but then David was there when I got the message, and he said that -- that she could be talking about you.
Evangeline: This doesn't incriminate Todd.
Hugh: Come on. He's the last person with Cochran before she went into the water.
Evangeline: Ok, find me a witness that can prove that and we'll talk.
Marcie: Hey, Evangeline. What's going on? Did something happen?
Hugh: Bo got shot.
Marcie: Well, is he going to be ok?
Hugh: No, he will be. I just got off the phone with the hospital. Dr. Truman operated on him.
Marcie: Oh, oh, well, then Michael says that he's really good, so I think that he should be fine, then.
Hugh: Yeah, apparently so. He's going to make a full recovery.
Marcie: What about John? Is he ok?
Hugh: It's bad.
Michael: How bad?
Hugh: Michael, I didn't --
Michael: I said, how bad?
Hugh: He's still inside the prison. No one can make any contact with him.
Michael: That doesn't mean he's dead.
Marcie: Well, nobody thinks that, right?
Michael: What's being done to get my brother out of there?
Hugh: There's a -- E.S.U.'s on the scene, F.B.I.'s on the scene, and they got every sector of the prison secured, except for a small room, a small area, the common room, the warden's office --
Michael: Where John is, right? In the middle of everything?
Michael: Where's Natalie?
Hugh: I haven't seen her.
Marcie: You know, it's probably all over the news, so wherever she is, she's probably freaking out.
Michael: I hope she's not riding this thing out alone.
Agent Arlen: All right, huddle up! New game plan.
Haskell: Let's take this someplace nice and private.
Natalie: You don't want to do this.
Haskell: Don't tell me what I want!
Natalie: Look, ok, this place is crawling with F.B.I. and cops.
Natalie: And they still think you're one of the good guys.
Haskell: And you're just dying to help me, aren't you?
Natalie: No, help yourself, ok? Call -- call Hesser, find out what's going on there. My uncle -- he's the commissioner of police, and if you help him, he will make sure nobody knows that you work for Carlo.
Haskell: Yeah, nice try, kid, but your uncle's been shot in the neck. He's no good to anyone.
Natalie: Ok, all right. Let me talk to agent Arlen, all right? You can still get out of this. You could be a hero, and no matter what, they'll give you a break.
Haskell: You see, that's just the problem -- I don't want a break. I want to walk away from this, ok, and right now my chances are better with Carlo than with some bigmouthed bimbo. Let's go. Keep walking. Open the door. Agh! Get in there!
Joe: Hey, is it over?
Agent Arlen: Where the hell have you been? Natalie Vega's been all over us. I had to ask Haskell to get her out of here.
Joe: You mean they haven't retaken the prison?
Agent Arlen: What does it look like? You know, stop wasting my time, officer Williams.
Joe: Agent Arlen, I just saw Haskell taking Natalie back inside.
Agent Arlen: Inside?
Joe: Inside the prison. If the siege isn't over, where is he taking her?
Agent Arlen: This is agent Arlen. I want all units to hold their fire and use extreme caution. A civilian has been taken hostage.
Inmate: Oh, what do we have here?
Second inmate: Looks like a sitting duck to me.
First inmate: What do you think it'll take to make this duck quack? Hmm. Come on, duck. How about a little quack, hmm?
John: I'll do it if you can spell it.
Inmate: Oh, smart guy, huh? Oh, but the next one goes in your --
Second inmate: What are you doing wasting bullets like that? Take him out.
John: Help this up. Ah! Oh! Ah! Ah! I thought I told you to get out of here.
Cristian: You're welcome.
John: Oh, what, you want me to reward your stupidity? You had Hesser on tape. You were a free man.
Cristian: Oh, and you could have left me to bleed to death in that stairwell. Face it, we're stuck with each other. Come on. There's a way out through the east sewer. Barber told me about it.
John: You're going to believe that guy?
Cristian: I checked it out. Come on, let's go. Let's go.
John: I don't think I can walk.
Cristian: Just lean on me, come on.
John: No. It'll take forever if we do that.
Cristian: Yeah, well, getting to that sewer barber told me about is a two-man job.
John: Why is that?
Cristian: Well, we got to get to the common room. Hesser's holed up there. Somebody's got to distract him.
John: Well, you're going to need that.
Cristian: Empty. So what do you think?
John: I think we got one guy with a bum leg, one guy with a hole through him, we got a gun with no bullets, and the goal is a sewer.
Cristian: What, are you ready to give up?
John: Hell, no.
Inmate: Carlo? Carlo?
Carlo: Did you find the ammunition?
Inmate: They keep it at a district office, miles from here.
Carlo: Which means the guns we liberated from the guards are useless. Leave it to the prison system.
Inmate: Well, what now?
Carlo: With only one bullet, shooting my way out of here doesn't appear to be an option.
Inmate: But I heard a shot. What was that?
Carlo: With any luck, it was one of your colleagues eliminating John Mc Bain or Cristian Vega.
Haskell: She showed up and blew my cover. I thought you'd like to take care of her personally.
Carlo: Natalie Vega. I'd know you anywhere.
Natalie: You, too, Carlo Hesser.
Carlo: Please, show a little consideration to the man who was kind enough to bring your beloved husband back from the dead.
Natalie: Yeah, and turned him into a killer? No, thank you.
Carlo: Ooh -- such fire. Your husband's insipid sketches have captured that element. But you did capture my imagination. I dreamt about you, Natalie. And now here you are, in the flesh. Good work, Mr. Haskell.
Haskell: My pleasure.
Carlo: Yes, indeed. It seems we are not out of weapons after all.
Spencer: Why on earth would you believe anything that my brother, David, has to say about me?
Blair: Well, David also thinks that you ruined the wedding between he and Dorian.
Spencer: Yeah, yeah, it's always big brother's fault, isn't it? You know, I told you we had a tough upbringing, right? Davey -- he's just never been able to accept responsibility for his own actions, that's all.
Blair: Dorian said that she saw you and ginger arguing downstairs.
Spencer: Yeah, that's right, we were.
Blair: Well, what happened?
Spencer: Oh, she approached me. It was really quite pathetic, actually, but she knows that you and I are friends, right, and she wants me to try to convince you not to give her a bad referral should a prospective employer show up and -- or call you, and I said, "no, I can't do that, Ginger, I won't do that, and stay away from Blair and the kids altogether." And we were upset, and our voices were raised.
Blair: Well, she was just probably calling to, you know, to warn me not to believe a word that you said about her to me, I guess.
Spencer: Yeah, gosh, you know, when I ended the conversation, she was very distraught. Poor kid. That's probably why she ran out in the street without looking.
Blair: And that happened right after your conversation?
Spencer: I guess, yeah.
Blair: And then you took care of her in the emergency room and she didn't make it.
Spencer: She had massive internal injuries, Blair.
Blair: Oh. Dorian didn't mention that.
Spencer: What else did she say?
Blair: Well, she said that she saw you and Ginger arguing downstairs and you threatened Ginger and Ginger was very upset about it and she implied that you didn't want Ginger to pull through.
Spencer: Ok, now we know what David thinks, we know what Dorian thinks. The only thing I care about is, what do you think? Do you think I'm suddenly not the man that you thought I was, that I purposely let Ginger Foley die so I could keep her quiet?
[Knock on door]
Spencer: Excuse me. Hello, Paige.
Paige: I need to talk to you.
Spencer: Sure, but I have a guest.
Paige: Oh, I'm sorry to interrupt. I just wanted to come by and thank Spencer for what he did for Bo.
Paige: He got shot in the prison riot. Spencer saved his life -- and mine. I don't know what I'd do if I ever lost Bo.
Blair: Well, you didn't tell me you were operating on Bo.
Spencer: I'm just glad I was there.
Paige: Everyone else had given him up for dead.
Spencer: You know, I don't want to lose any patients, not on my watch, and it doesn't matter who that patient is.
[Cell door closes]
Todd: Oh. Couldn't you at least bring me some coffee? The swill they got in this place will kill me before the state does.
Evangeline: I got some bad news, Todd.
Evangeline: The judge just denied my request for a continuance and your case goes to trial as scheduled.
Todd: But you'll be ready, right?
Evangeline: I don't think so.
Todd: Why not?
Evangeline: Because I quit.
Todd: You can't quit.
Evangeline: I thought I was completely clear when I said that I would represent you only if you were completely honest with me.
Todd: I have been completely honest with you. Margaret threw herself in that lake and she drowned.
Evangeline: Mm-hmm. And was that before or after she strangled herself?
Evangeline: She wasn't breathing when she hit the water.
Todd: That medical examiner's report is bogus. You get an outside expert --
Evangeline: I'm holding the outside expert's report in my hand, and it made the prosecution very happy.
Todd: What does that mean?
Evangeline: Margaret was dead before she hit the water. She had to be, because there was no water in her lungs, Todd. And now there are two reports that prove it.
Todd: Then they're both wrong. I'm telling you the truth. Margaret was alive when she fell off that boat. She killed herself.
Evangeline: Is this a performance, because if it is, it's brilliant, it's your best work.
Todd: It's the truth.
Evangeline: Then explain the evidence, Todd.
Todd: I can't. It doesn't make any sense to me. Unless -- unless her clothes came off when she jumped in and they got wrapped around her neck or something.
Evangeline: Then she would have been breathing for a few seconds at least.
Todd: Coroners make mistakes, don't they?
Evangeline: Not like this, and not twice.
Todd: Then it's a first. Because I didn't strangle her. Are you just trying to bail because things are starting to get tough?
Evangeline: I've interviewed a lot of your friends -- or, I should say, people that know you, and they all say the same thing -- that after Margaret Cochran disappeared, you became a very different person. You were suddenly a lot calmer, you were sure that Margaret was never going to be a problem anymore. You fired all the bodyguards you had protecting your family, you painted on a beard. For God's sake, Todd, how do you think that makes you look?
Todd: Nobody has to know about that. Just keep it out of the evidence. You're so good.
Evangeline: I'm not a magician. And you're a proven liar.
Todd: Yeah, ok, I admit it, I lied, to a lot of people, but not about this. I swear on the lives of my children I did not kill Margaret.
Evangeline: One of those children is dead, Todd, the one that Margaret Cochran was carrying.
Todd: I wouldn't kill my own child, no matter who the mother was. You believe me, don't you?
Michael: Now, listen, I am tired of standing around here, ok? This is my brother we're talking about. I want to know what's being done and I want to know now!
Hugh: All right, ok, ok. Let me go see what I can find out.
Michael: Thank you.
Marcie: Want to go get a cup of coffee or something and --
Michael: You know, I -- I don't think I'd be very good company right now.
Marcie: Yeah, I understand that you don't want Natalie to go through this alone, Michael, but I don't want you to have to go through it alone, either.
Michael: Yeah, well, I -- I don't know exactly what it is you think you'd be able to do for me.
Marcie: Well, I could -- I could sit here with you, Michael. I could listen, I could -- I could do whatever it is that you were going to do for Natalie.
Michael: Natalie and I were kind of going through the same thing here, you know? It's different for you.
Marcie: I get that, but, you know, I do know what it feels like to have someone that you love in danger, and, well, I am here now. Natalie is not.
Michael: Yeah, I know. Where is she? I mean, how come nobody knows where Natalie is?
Natalie: What are you going to do to me?
Carlo: You'll find out soon enough. Hold on to her.
John: Ok, hang on. Slow.
Cristian: You ok?
John: Look, I feel like a hundred bucks.
Cristian: Come on, it's not much further.
John: You were rolling around back there. You sure you didn't lose that tape with the confession on it? Humor me.
Cristian: I have the tape. Let's go. We're almost at the tunnel. Come on.
John: Ok. Oh. Ah.
Carlo: Attention, prisoners. I apologize for the lack of amenities over these past few days. And it is my sad duty to announce that workouts in the yard will be canceled until further notice. But happily, there will be entertainment.
Natalie: What is he doing?
Haskell: Shut up.
Carlo: Tonight's feature is "damsel in distress," starring the very lovely and talented Natalie Vega!
Paige: I should go.
Spencer: What's the rush? You can stay.
Paige: No, I just came on an impulse. It was Matthew's idea.
Blair: How is he?
Paige: He's really glad that his father's alive.
Blair: Oh, I bet he is, that poor boy with his mother so sick and all.
Paige: He's so sweet. I was trying to explain to him about the surgery, and he said, "shouldn't we thank Dr. Truman?"
Blair: That is exactly what my son said -- Jack -- when you saved his life, so thank you, Dr. Truman.
Spencer: You're welcome.
Paige: Oh, don't leave on my account.
Blair: Oh, no, I've got to take care of something. Thanks.
Spencer: I'll show you to the door. There.
Blair: Thank you. You know, I am so sorry that -- that I brought up David and Dorian, and I shouldn't even have repeated everything that they told me, you know, about Ginger.
Spencer: It's all right, Blair. It's all right. All surgeons lose patients, even me.
Blair: Well, I think you know I was just so caught off guard that I just figured that she was, you know, warning me about you.
Blair: You know, instead of accepting the fact that she was definitely warning me about Todd.
Spencer: Maybe she was just trying to salvage something of her poor dead aunt's reputation.
Blair: I doubt that, but -- and I appreciate that you're so decent.
Paige: Oh. Wonderful performance.
Spencer: Yeah? Which part did you enjoy the most?
Paige: Oh, I think it was the impassioned "I don't want any patients to die on my watch" bit. We both know that's a load of bull.
Spencer: I did everything I could to save Ginger Foley's life, and you know it, Paige.
Paige: No, I'm not talking about ginger Foley.
Hugh: Hesser and a few lieutenants are still left inside, so there's John and another prisoner. That's all I knew.
Hugh: I promise you'll be informed of any change in the situation. I'm late for a meeting.
Marcie: See you later? Here you go.
Michael: I'm really worried about John. That's still no excuse to take it out on you.
Marcie: Michael, people get angry when they go through bad times, and they say and do stupid things to the people that care about them the most. I know from experience. I'm speaking from experience.
Evangeline: Hey, is A.D.A. Hughes still here?
Officer: I'm looking for him myself. He wanted to be informed of any changes at Statesville.
Michael: I'm John Mc Bain's brother. Could you please tell me if anything's happening, anything at all?
Officer: Natalie Vega's been taken hostage.
Evangeline: She went back there? Damn it.
Michael: Of course, she went back there. John's there.
Marcie: Michael, where are you going?
Michael: I'm not going to stand around here on the sidelines while John and Natalie could be getting themselves killed. Look, I got to do something.
Marcie: No, Michael, no.
Evangeline: Michael, wait. I'm going with you.
Marcie: But --
Carlo's voice: So if you'd enjoy seeing the fair Natalie in what may well be her farewell performance, it's five minutes to curtain in the common room.
Natalie: No! Don't listen!
John: Hey. Don't play it his way. We can't just go roaring in there unarmed.
Cristian: I'm not going to sit around here and talk strategy while Natalie gets killed.
Carlo: One last bullet. We should soon know whether our dynamic duo are still among the living, and if they are, the lovely Mrs. Vega here will help me change all that.
[Cell door closes]
Todd: Blair? Hmm. I didn't think you'd come back after this morning.
Blair: Well, I didn't know if I would, either, Todd.
Todd: And here you are. Does that mean you believe in me now?
Blair: We have two children together and I would like to believe that we could actually be a family again.
Todd: We can't.
Blair: Well, I think our chances would improve immensely if you told me the next time that you wanted to hire a hit man to kill somebody.
Todd: I mean, I thought I was protecting you.
Blair: Yeah, I did, too, when I went to the D.A.'s office, but I didn't know the whole story, and I think I just made things worse.
Todd: I'm sorry.
Blair: Me, too. So do I know everything now, Todd?
Todd: Full disclosure? Evangeline was here, and apparently the judge has denied her petition to delay my trial.
Todd: It's a matter of days, not weeks.
Blair: Well, that doesn't leave us much time.
Todd: I'm innocent. The D.A.'s case is purely circumstantial. Nobody saw me do anything to Margaret.
Blair: No, no, no, no. The D.A. knows that I saw you and Mc Naughton together at the palace, and he's going to subpoena me, and I'm going to have to testify against that -- on top of the fact that you lied about it.
Todd: Boy, you just look exhausted, you know? This is killing you, isn't it?
Blair: Maybe I should lie on the stand.
Todd: No. You're not going to perjure yourself.
Blair: Really? Well, you got a better idea, Todd?
Todd: Yeah -- marry me tonight.
Hugh: Nothing's changed at Statesville.
Marcie: Since Natalie was taken hostage?
Marcie: Michael hasn't charged in there yet?
Hugh: I'm sorry. The officer shouldn't have said anything.
Marcie: You know, I tried to talk to Michael, but I don't know. I just don't seem to really do that well with him anymore. I feel so useless.
Hugh: You know, I saw your face when Michael came into the room. Are you sure you just want to be his friend?
Marcie: Llanview police department. How long has the cat been up there? Ok. All right, just calm down. I need you to give me the address. Ok. All right, I'll see if I can get a patrol car over there, all right? Just -- just try to calm down. Hold on. Hey, Arnie, it's Marcie. I know. It has been a long time. Listen, I have a diabetic cat on the roof at 11 Oaks Way. Do you think you can try to get a patrol unit over there to see what they can do? I know. I know, it has been a really long time. It was good talking to you, too. Sure, thanks. Hello, ma'am? A patrol car's on the way, all right? They're going to see what they can do for you. You're welcome. Sure.
Marcie: Well, you know, I used to have the job.
Hugh: I think you just found a way to be useful.
Agent Arlen: We have a new problem. Natalie Vega has been taken hostage. Now, Hesser and his boys should be running low on ammo, but it only takes one bullet to kill a hostage.
Michael: I'm Michael Mc Bain. I would like to know what's being done to rescue my brother.
Evangeline: Agent Arlen, what's going on in there?
Agent Arlen: Get them out of here, and shore up the perimeter. No more civilians get through.
Michael: Listen, that's my brother in there. No I'm a d doctor. I may be able to help you.
Agent Arlen: Fine, stick around, but get back with the paramedics and stay out of my way. And, Ms. Williamson, I believe commissioner Buchanan sent you home.
Evangeline: Yeah. That was before you let him get shot and before you let his niece get taken hostage. What are you doing to get them out of there?
Michael: Evangeline --
Agent Arlen: Now, look!
Michael: Listen. Please. Can you tell us for a fact that the hostages are still alive in there?
Agent Arlen: Do I know for sure? No, I don't.
Cristian: Looks like they're gone. They took Natalie.
John: Don't even flinch.
Cristian: Where's Natalie? Huh? Where is she?
John: The man asked you a question!
Carlo: I knew you wouldn't miss the show.
Natalie: Oh, I'm so glad you guys are alive.
John: Hey, stay down.
Cristian: Yeah, it's -- it's me.
Carlo: I hate to interrupt this touching reunion, but there are more pressing matters at hand. Detective Mc Bain, please turn your weapon over to Mr. Haskell -- do it. Do it.
Haskell: Hey, it's empty.
John: You don't need her. Let her go. You got me. You can use me to get out of here.
Carlo: I'm very moved. What about you? As lovely as the gesture is, I'm afraid I've made other arrangements.
Cristian: Just let her go, Hesser.
Natalie: He's only got one bullet left.
Carlo: Just one bullet. Who shall receive it?
Spencer: You know, as much as I'm enjoying this little trip down memory lane, you're leaving out some very salient points.
Paige: Yes, like you wanted that patient to die and that patient died.
Spencer: I didn't kill him, Paige.
Paige: Well, you might as well have.
Spencer: You did the deed, not me.
Paige: God. Do you think I forget about that for even one minute? As if you'd let me. That is the one thing that's made it possible for you to manipulate me ever since you got to Llanview.
Spencer: Do you have any idea how happy I was when I found out you and Davey were both living here? It was like Santa Claus had just received my letter.
Paige: You know what? I didn't come here to talk about this stuff.
Spencer: Then why did you bring it up?
Paige: Because I was getting nauseated listening to you play your kind and gentle Dr. Truman with Blair.
Spencer: Pretty harsh words for the man who just saved Bo's life.
Paige: As a surgeon, you're a genius. You have a real talent. Why isn't that enough for you? Why can't you just let go of this mysterious vendetta you have against Bo and his family?
Spencer: You never have understood me, Paige. You never have. I have goals that have nothing to do with medicine, and I will never ever, ever, give them up -- never. Now, it's been a long day. If you'll excuse me --
Spencer: Paige? I'll get back to you on the price for saving the boyfriend.
Blair: Well, it's not the most romantic proposal that I've ever heard out of your mouth, but it works for me.
Todd: I wish it could be different, but the main thing is they can't force a wife to testify against her husband.
Blair: Come on. Don't you think the D.A.'s going to figure out that's what we're doing?
Todd: Who cares? We got a license, we're engaged. We got kids. There's no reason why we can't keep a united front in this.
Blair: Well, got a license, I have a ring. I mean, we should be able to find a Justice of the Peace or a judge somewhere in this building, don't you think?
[Cell door closes]
Hugh: Sounds like someone's getting married. It's ok, you can leave it open. I won't be long. Is this the Manning version of a shotgun wedding?
Blair: We love each other.
Hugh: And you know that a spouse can't be forced to testify. I don't know if this makes any difference in your plans, but I don't even need Blair's testimony anymore, not with the second autopsy you so graciously paid for.
Blair: What's he talking about?
Todd: Evangeline's all over it. It's nothing. It's no big deal.
Hugh: Actually, it's a -- it's a huge deal. It's definite. Margaret Cochran didn't have any water in her lungs. She wasn't breathing when she went into the lake -- strangled. Now, Todd insisted that the county M.E. was mistaken, so he had Evangeline hire an expert from Philadelphia, whose findings turned out to be exactly the same.
Todd: It's a mistake. It's totally bogus.
Blair: Yeah, is that what you call full disclosure, Todd?
Todd: Blair --
Michael: Are you cold?
Evangeline: Freezing. I just -- I can't stand not knowing what's going on in there and if they're all right.
Michael: Well, they have to be all right, Evangeline. My brother is lousy at taking care of himself, ok, but he's great when it comes to taking care of other people.
Evangeline: Yeah, that's what worries me. I can't lose the man I love.
Carlo: If it's any comfort to the two of you, I have no intention of doing away with Natalie here.
John: Then what do you want with her?
Carlo: She's my passport out of here, one I can travel on until I'm far, far away. So, let's see. What's the best use I can make of my last remaining bullet? I know. I could shoot one of you, but which one? Such a difficult decision. I know. Natalie can make it for me. Hmm. Go on, dear. Choose. Decide which one of your suitors goes to their great reward.
>> On the next "One Life to Live" --
Jessica: Antonio, you can't dismiss Nash.
Antonio: If that's the way you think, then we really have a problem.
R.J.: Maybe you can tell me what I need to know.
Carlo: Who receives the bullet?
Cristian: You can't make her decide that. She can't.
Natalie: I can. I've already decided.
