David: Can I talk to you?
Dorian: What was it that you said when the judge asked you if you would take me as your lawfully wedded wife? Right. No.
David: Dorian, please, just give me a chance.
Dorian: You've already had your chance.
David: Wait. Let me explain to you why I couldn't marry you.
Viki: Dr. Jamison, I would like to do this as soon as possible. It's for Jessie's sake, ok, so if you could please call me at home just as soon as you get this. Thank you.
Clint: Natalie went to see John.
Clint: It's such a bad idea.
Viki: What, for Natalie to go see John?
Clint: You know what I'm talking about.
Viki: The hypnosis.
Clint: The hypnosis, yes. You can't let Niki Smith out.
Viki: I have to. This might be the only way to keep Jessica from vanishing completely.
Clint: Even at the risk of vanishing yourself?
Kevin: All right, this is a bad idea. Come on, let's go.
Jessica: No, Kevin, I have to talk to him.
Nash: Yeah, maybe you should run along now.
Kevin: I think I'll stay.
Nash: I'm not liking you very much.
Jessica: Ok, ok, both of you, both of you calm down. Kevin, this is important.
Kevin: Ok, go ahead.
Kevin: I don't think that's a good idea.
Jessica: Well, listen, you can stand over there and you can watch if you'd like, but this is something that I have to do. Please, this is about my baby's future.
Kevin: Ok. I'm watching you.
Nash: Yeah. Bye-bye. So -- um -- you're admitting this baby might be mine and Tess'?
Jessica: I'm not denying it's a possibility. But I know in my heart that this baby belongs to me and Antonio. I don't want to talk about the baby now.
Nash: What do you want to talk about?
Jessica: Tess. I want to know about her. And I want to know why it is that you're in love with her.
Natalie: Huh. Well, what an amazing surprise -- Evangeline at John's apartment. Go figure.
Evangeline: Check your attitude, Natalie. John isn't even here.
Natalie: Well, I was supposed to meet him a little while ago, so I would assume he's still at the station.
Evangeline: Nope, I was just there.
Natalie: Something must have come up.
Cristian: And how long do you think that'll keep out an entire pissed-off cellblock?
John: Hopefully, long enough for us to come up with a plan.
Cristian: Oh, I already have a plan. I'm not waiting around for Hesser and his guys to come after me. You haven't answered my question from before. What is the mighty Mc Bain doing here anyway?
John: I came to get you out.
Cristian: Nicely done.
John: Yeah, sorry I didn't get the memo about the prison break tonight.
Cristian: And why were you going to get me out?
John: You're innocent, right?
Cristian: What's this?
John: It's a wire. You were going to get Hesser to admit he was the one behind killing Santi.
Cristian: It's a little late, don't you think?
John: I don't think it is. I heard him in the corridor not a few minutes ago.
Cristian: Something went wrong with the break.
John: We both know he wouldn't leave here unless he knew you weren't breathing.
Cristian: Then we go find him.
John: Yeah? You got a plan?
Cristian: My life isn't worth jack in here. Either I get a confession out of Hesser --
John: Or you die trying, I get it.
Cristian: Something like that.
John: Hey. If one of us goes out that door, we both do. Whether you like it or not, we're stuck with each other.
Antonio: Hello, Viki.
Viki: Come in.
Antonio: Something bothering you? Are you ok?
Clint: No, she's not ok. She wants to bring out Niki Smith, and I think that's nothing but trouble.
Antonio: Well, I agree, and Jessica wouldn't allow it.
Viki: Oh, but Tess would.
Antonio: Well, Tess is sneaky and manipulative.
Clint: How do you know that Tess isn't lying? Maybe she wants Niki out permanently. Have you thought of that, she wants you gone for good?
Viki: Well, I'll just have to take that chance.
Clint: Why don't you let us take care of Jessica and Tess? We could keep her from coming out.
Viki: Clint, you haven't the foggiest notion how to do that. I do! This is Jessica's life we're talking about. I know how to save her. I am not going to let you stand in my way!
Nash: Wow, this is kind of weird. I mean, you don't seem to know anything about Tess, but she sure knows about you.
Jessica: She told you about me?
Nash: Yeah. She said you were her twin.
Jessica: Yeah, well, I have a twin, but her name's not Tess.
Nash: Right. Natalie.
Jessica: What did she tell you about me?
Kelly: Is that Nash?
Kevin: You know, I thought once Niki and Viki were integrated, my family wouldn't have to go through this again.
Kelly: Jessica is going to get through this.
Kevin: I hope you're right. So what's going on? You're obviously not working out.
Kelly: Yeah. Well, your secretary said you were here. I wanted to talk to you about something. No secrets, right?
Kevin: Yeah, what is it?
Kelly: Um -- I know you're not going to be happy about this, but I've made an appointment with Spencer.
Kevin: You're right, I'm not happy.
Kelly: Kevin, I want a baby.
Kevin: What am I supposed to say?
Kelly: Nothing. Just hold my hand.
Jessica: She said I was dead? She hates me that much?
Nash: Well, I mean, the more we talked about the two of you, the more I understood how complicated the relationship was.
Jessica: Complicated? She said I was dead and she's inside me. Complicated?
Jessica: Why did you just say that?
Nash: I'm sorry. The way you said that, I just thought I saw her.
Hayes: It's dark.
Carlo: You are completely worthless.
Hayes: If you wanted me to find Cristian, maybe you shouldn't have cut the power.
Carlo: That was the only part of the plan that worked.
Hayes: Oh, that's nice. Now it's part of the plan that's screwing us up.
Carlo: My plan was simplicity itself. Haskell cuts the power, the mob riots, and in the ensuing mayhem we escape through the sewer system to the manholes outside, where my men spirit us away. Flawless.
Hayes: Yes, except that the local police parked their cars on top of the manhole covers and your men, cowards that they are, ran away! So now we're here.
Carlo: Yeah. And I'm here with nothing but hostages and negotiations. I hate negotiations!
Bo: Your men cover us from here?
Haskell: Prisoners shouldn't be able to get to it, but --
Bo: This is the way we're going in.
Haskell: Hey, this isn't your party. Until the feds get here, I'm in charge.
Bo: Listen, we've got innocent people in there. One of them is our guy. Now, they've already killed the warden. We're not going to wait around while they throw more people off the roof. Just open these gates.
Haskell: All right, open the gates. But you're out of your jurisdiction.
Bo: I don't care! All right, we can use this blackout to our advantage, all right? I don't want to draw any fire, I don't want to make any contact. I'm going to take point. You've got everything on the right. You've got everything on our left. Let's move. Going in.
Bo: Back! Get back! Get these gates closed! Hold them off!
Cristian: Phone's dead. You got a cell phone?
John: Had to check it at the gate, along with my weapon.
Cristian: All right, so what's the plan, play a board game while Hesser and his guys come back to kill us?
John: For the moment, this ain't a bad place to be. At least our backs are covered. Now, what do we know? We know barber's armed, Hesser probably is, too, and obviously he's got some of the inmates working for him.
Cristian: Yeah, guards, too. I don't even know how many.
John: If we go out there right now, we might as well paint bull's-eyes on our backs. You know, maybe there's a plan or a schematic of the prison somewhere around here. Damn it.
Cristian: Allow me.
John: Nice, gentle touch.
Cristian: What are you looking for?
John: A way out.
Haskell: This isn't a home game for you, Buchanan.
Bo: What's taking the feds so long to get here?
Officer: I just heard them on the radio. They're en route.
Dorian: Better make it fast. I've got a roomful of wedding presents I've got to return.
David: I lied to you when I said that I'd been with someone else.
David: I've never been unfaithful to you. At least not since we got together this past time. I also lied to you when I said that I'd lose my freedom. Dorian, if you and I had gotten married, I would be anything but free. I would be in prison. I'd be in prison for murder.
Hayes: Maybe I could talk to them. That is my specialty, you know, talking.
Carlo: You have one job, and one job only. Find Cristian Vega.
Hayes: It's too dark.
Carlo: Oh. Now you're afraid of the dark?
Hayes: I can't see anything.
Carlo: That's what the night vision scope on your weapon is for.
Hayes: Yeah, but there are noises.
Carlo: Would it help if I sliced off an ear?
Carlo: Think back, Ivan, back to those kids in high school. They were nothing but a hoard of bullies. They beat you up with no provocation, just for pleasure.
Carlo: And now, present day, you're in Vega's cell. Hmm? And what did he do to you? The bully beat you bloody. Just like high school.
Hayes: Except I hold the power now.
Inmate: Caught this one trying to get word to the feds. Want me to off him?
Carlo: No. He may prove useful.
Bo: That's right, governor, the warden's dead. The inmates have control of the prison. We still have control of some of the outlying sectors. Right now we're waiting for the feds.
Carlo: Greetings. Carlo Hesser here. Is anyone at home?
Bo: Yes, sir, thank you.
Haskell: It's over, Hesser. The F.B.I. is on its way. Llanview police commissioner is here, every exit is locked down. There's no way out.
Carlo: Commissioner Buchanan. What an unexpected surprise. If he's not too busy, I'd like to say hello.
Bo: The only way out is the front gate, Hesser. So either you can walk out or we'll be happy to carry you out in a body bag. It's your choice.
Carlo: I think I'll choose door number three and you'll allow me to walk out free.
Bo: The place is surrounded, Carlo. That means I call the shots.
Carlo: Did you receive my little gift that came tumbling off the roof? Dear departed warden Stevens.
Carlo: There are plenty more where he came from.
Guard: This is officer Hernandez.
Bo: You ok?
Ofc. Hernandez: I got an inmate with a gun in my ribs. But if you guys come in through the front gate -- oh!
Carlo: Enough with the pleasantries. One of the good guys will be thrown off the roof every hour until my demands are met. It could get very messy.
Natalie: What are you waiting for?
Evangeline: I need to talk to John.
Natalie: Well, aren't we a busy little bee. Didn't you just come from Todd's arraignment, what, an hour ago, and now you're moving on to the next thing? Well, that explains why you don't have a --
Evangeline: A boyfriend? Is that what you were going to say to me? You know what, Natalie? I would rather be alone than in a relationship that only goes one way.
Natalie: My relationship with John is not one way.
Evangeline: Yeah, of course not. Of course it isn't. You know what? Just be careful. I'll talk to John later. Excuse me.
Radio announcer: We interrupt this broadcast with an update on tonight's attempted escape from Statesville prison. According to sources, inmates in the maximum-security facility are now heavily armed. Early reports claim that guards were overpowered and the arsenal was looted after the escape was thwarted. At this time, it appears the inmates are holding as many as 30 hostages and there is one confirmed fatality.
John: What's this?
Cristian: That's the weight room. It's just down the hall.
John: And amazingly, that's what it says on the plans. No, not that. This.
Cristian: Heating duct.
John: Looks like it runs all the way to the east perimeter. You know, if we could make it into the weight room, we might have found a way out.
Cristian: All right, then we go.
John: Cris, wait. Think about this. You know, we got five shots. How many men in Hesser's army?
Cristian: Every inmate on the block, probably half the guards.
John: That's a lot of firepower.
Cristian: Yeah, a lot. Let's go.
Dorian: Are you suggesting that you would've murdered me had we married?
David: No, that -- that's not what I'm trying to say.
Dorian: Then who would you have murdered?
David: I wasn't going to murder anyone. I already did. It was a long time ago. I was a kid. I was a kid who was old enough to be tried as an adult.
Dorian: What's your point?
David: It happened when I was working for my father. The events that led up to it are not important. What is important is I killed a man.
Dorian: You, a murderer?
David: I was hoping that I would never have to tell you.
Dorian: I am not going to condone or condemn. What I am trying to fathom here is why you would permit your guilty conscience to implode on our wedding day!
David: Dorian, I did not permit this, Spencer did. Spencer knew what I had done. A long time ago, he prevented people from finding out, but ever since then, he's been holding it over my head.
Dorian: And that's the skeleton that you've been hiding in your closet?
David: There's no statute of limitations on murder. Spencer had to make one phone call and it would all be over, and when he was at our wedding, he had the phone to his ear and he had to push one number. He would've pushed that number if I had said those two little words -- "I do."
Kevin: First of all, Spencer Truman is performing it. I don't like him. I don't trust him.
Kelly: We've established that.
Kevin: It could be dangerous, ok? It's not worth the risk. I won't risk losing you. And look, I understand you want a baby, but --
Kelly: No, I want our baby. Just think of it, Kevin. It'll be this little piece of immortality with your good looks and my sense of style. And then a hundred years from now when our kids have kids and their kids have kids, we'll still be living and breathing and loving through them. That could be our future. If you don't care about our future, then maybe we don't have one.
Nash: It is really hard for me to look at you and not see Tess. You got to know it has taken everything I've got not to just grab ahold of you and hug you and kiss you and touch the small of your back where you got that little scar shaped like a lightning bolt. I'm making you uncomfortable, aren't I?
Jessica: A little bit, yeah. What else did she say about me?
Nash: She -- uh -- she said that you take care of her. And I know that she would never admit it, but I think she appreciated that. She also said that you smother her. I mean, Tess, she likes to run free.
Jessica: Yeah, free to get drunk and sleep with tons of guys.
Nash: Kind of, yeah. Yeah, I mean, at least at the start, you know. But -- just the first. You know, no strings, no -- no past, no future. Just the moment. We had a lot of fun together. She's so audacious and she's unapologetic, unself-conscious. Like this one time, she decided she had to get a job, so, you know, she's got to throw together her resume and she's been sitting in my apartment for over an hour looking at this blank piece of paper, kind of whimpering to herself in frustration, so she started throwing stuff down on it. I swear, by the end of it, she could've landed herself a top job at the Pentagon. She -- sorry.
Nash: Then she just might have a future writing sci-fi.
Jessica: Well, she sounds like tons of fun.
Nash: Nothing embarrasses her. She's -- she's fun, she's mischievous. I've always had big dreams -- a wife and a family of my own if I found the right woman. Tess was that person. That kid -- it wasn't planned. It threw both of us for a loop, but I never doubted it was exactly what I wanted. Tess, too.
Jessica: Tess wanted to settle down?
Nash: We had the same dream. I'm not going to lie to you, Jessica, I'm not going to let go of that. And I'm sure that somewhere inside of you, Tess isn't going to let go of that, either.
Clint: Don't make it sound like we don't care about Jessica.
Viki: I know that you care about her and I know that you love her, but I know how to help her.
Antonio: You know, maybe I should go upstairs and talk to Jessica.
Clint: Well, she left a while ago with Kevin.
Antonio: Oh, where did she go?
Clint: They went for a workout to serenity springs.
Viki: What's wrong?
Antonio: Nothing, nothing. Actually, I could use a good workout myself. See you later.
Clint: Now, let's settle this nonsense about Niki Smith.
Viki: This is not nonsense and there's nothing to settle.
Clint: I won't allow you to do it.
Viki: Oh, you won't allow it? You have no say in the matter. You can't order me around. This is my life. I do exactly what I want. You are not my husband anymore.
Clint: I realize that, but I will always be Jessica's father.
Viki: Fine, then you of all people should realize that I am doing the thing that is best for our daughter.
Radio announcer: Once again, an escape attempt earlier this evening at Statesville penitentiary has escalated. According to a highly placed source, the situation is now being considered a full-scale prison uprising. There has been one confirmed death, and the inmates are assumed to be heavily armed. According to sources, police under the command of Llanview police commissioner Bo Buchanan have been exchanging gunfire with the rioting convicts. Stay tuned. We'll be updating you as soon as we get more information.
Natalie: You're worried about the man who pretended to be Cristian, your client.
Evangeline: What is Bo doing in Statesville? That isn't even his jurisdiction.
Natalie: Well, I am sure that they needed more manpower, I mean, if the inmates are going wild with guns. I mean, I'm just -- I'm glad that john's not working tonight.
Evangeline: Oh, my God.
Cristian: What did you see?
John: Nothing but shadows.
Cristian: Do you think you know where the shot came from?
John: I don't know. Could've been another floor, could've been the weight room. Just because I didn't see anyone doesn't mean there isn't anyone. I'll tell you one thing, I don't think we can get out of here without being spotted.
Cristian: I'm getting Natalie back. And nothing is getting in my way.
Dorian: I don't know which is worse, Spencer blackmailing you into backing out of our wedding or you letting him do it. Why didn't you just tell him to take his threats and shove it?
David: You mean just like you did? What was it you said to him anyway, right before the wedding, that ticked him off so much?
Dorian: Oh, wait a minute, don't you try and point the finger at me. I am not the one who couldn't say "I do."
David: Dorian, you don't get it. I panicked. I didn't want to do this. It's my fault. I was taking care of myself, I know, but I love you and I know that you love me, too. I know you're angry at me right now, but I can fix this. You've got to trust me, all right? I can get back at Spencer, you and I can get married like we're supposed to, but you've got to give me another chance.
Natalie: Please tell me John is not in Statesville.
Evangeline: I can't, Natalie, because I don't know.
Natalie: Well, when did you -- when did you see him last?
Evangeline: At court, at Todd's arraignment. He and Bo were talking about something.
Natalie: What were they talking about?
Evangeline: I don't know, I got the feeling it was about Cristian.
Natalie: The man who pretended to be Cristian?
Evangeline: Yeah. And then the next thing I knew, John was gone.
Natalie: No, no, no, he wouldn't have -- he wouldn't have gone out in the middle of the night. I mean, it couldn't have been -- god, he can't be the one.
John: Whatever you're thinking, it's not worth it, Cris. I'm going to get you out of here. You don't want to spend any more of your time in this place, do you?
Cristian: I wasn't going to kill you -- not that it wasn't tempting. But that's not me. You know, I'm not the killer that Natalie thinks I am. She may hate John Doe, but she loves Cristian Vega. I saw it in her eyes. And when I get out I'm going to find her, and she'll know.
John: Then getting out of this room alive would be the priority, wouldn't it?
Bo: Pick up the radio, Hesser. Let's talk.
John: That's Bo.
Cristian: He got the message about the escape.
John: It's good to know he's here, though. He won't leave us hanging out to dry.
Cristian: Wait a minute, wait a minute. Hesser is not going to give up without a fight. If they kill him, I'm stuck in here for good. I need him alive long enough to admit what he did to me.
Bo: I want you to get ahold of that F.B.I. field unit. Find out their E.T.A. monitor all your frequencies. I want to know if anybody is talking to Carlo while he's inside there, all right?
Bo: Carlo Hesser, this is commissioner Buchanan. Pick up your radio.
Carlo: Sorry, commissioner. This little game will be played on my terms.
Inmate: What do you want me to do with the bull? You want me to pop him?
Carlo: No. He may be useful to us.
Inmate: Get out of here.
Carlo: I heard a shot.
Hayes: I thought I saw Vega.
Hayes: It wasn't. It was a ghost or a shadow or something.
Carlo: So no sign of him yet, huh?
Hayes: Well, I think he left.
Carlo: No, he didn't. He's here. I'm certain. He needs something from me. He wouldn't leave his happy home without it. Now, Ivan the terrible, you are going to find Mr. Vega and inspector Mc Bain. And the next gunshot I hear will be through one of their hearts.
Hayes: Ok. Kill them in the dark.
Bo: All right, now we're getting somewhere.
Carlo: Well, commissioner, are you prepared to make a deal?
Clint: Viki, I realize that we're not married anymore. And even when we were, I would never dream of ordering you around.
Viki: I know you didn't, and I'm -- I'm sorry. Clint, come on, I'm a survivor. I have faced much bigger hurdles than this, and I have managed to get over every single one of them. Look, we may not even be able to access Niki, but I have to try for Jessie.
Clint: All I know is that she's going to need her mother.
Viki: Ok, I'll make sure that Viki wins.
Clint: There is just nothing that I can say to change your mind, is there?
Clint: Then I'm going to be with you. I'm going to be with you to make sure you come back to your family.
Kevin: How can you say I don't believe in our future? If I lose you on the operating table, there won't be any future.
Kelly: You won't lose me, I promise.
Kevin: When's your appointment with Dr. Truman?
Kelly: Oh, baby, I love you so much. Mmm. I will call you with all the specifics.
Kevin: I love you, too.
Jessica: Nash, could you just promise me something?
Nash: Depends what.
Jessica: During Tess' and my integration, if she comes out and comes running into your arms, do you promise not to let her run off with you?
Nash: Jessica, I want you to get better. I do. But, hey, I mean, if you and Tess are integrated, maybe -- maybe you'll be running off with me, too.
Antonio: This guy bothering you?
Jessica: No, Antonio, I need to talk with him. I want your word.
Carlo: Bo Buchanan, where are you? Come out, come out, wherever you are!
Bo: What do you got?
Officer: Swat's checking the grounds. They're looking for a soft spot to access the compound.
Carlo: I told you to answer!
Bo: What's going on in there, Hesser? Who's doing the shooting?
Carlo: I told you I don't like being ignored! That was just a warning. The next one will be through the heart of one of your precious hostages.
Bo: All right, you win, Hesser. Send the hostage out, we'll see what we can do.
John: Calm down.
Cristian: "Calm down"? Do you know how long I've been in here?
John: Bo knows what he's doing. He's got something in motion out there, so unless you can figure out what his plan is --
Cristian: Yeah, if he's got one. I can't stay in here knowing Hesser's out there somewhere. He's my only way to Natalie.
David: I know I'm asking a lot.
Dorian: Go on.
David: You must think differently of me now, knowing what I did.
Dorian: Yes. Whoever this man was, I'm sure that there must have been extenuating circumstances.
David: You're right, there -- you're right.
Dorian: And you were terribly young, and you've felt awful about it all these years. And now that you've finally confessed to me, you must feel a lot better. Your heart must be lighter.
David: Come to papa.
Dorian: David, it really is a shame that there is no statute of limitations for murder. But you know an even worse shame? There is no statute of limitations for humiliating a person you say you love on your wedding day.
David: You're right, I had no intention of humiliating you.
Dorian: You see this telephone? Do you see it? It's been ringing off the hook with people calling to say how sorry they are for me! Sorry for me! Do you realize you have humiliated me in front of the entire town of Pennsylvania, the -- the town of Pennsylvania! You see how upset I am?
David: I'm sorry.
Dorian: Ugh! The state of Pennsylvania! I see them -- people in the streets, pointing at me! I hear their murmurs as they whisper about me!
David: Shh, shh, Dorian --
Dorian: You are a murderer! You are! You have murdered the respect that people used to have for me! You have -- you have humiliated me beyond belief!
And, worse yet, you have humiliated everything that I ever felt about you. Now get out of my house! I mean this! Out!
Clint: Viki, I think you need to sit down and relax. Want me to get you some tea?
Viki: Yeah, that'd be nice, thank you.
Clint: All right.
Viki: Niki. I worked so hard to erase you from my life, and I was successful. I know you hate me, but I need you back. My daughter needs you. And as much as it scares me, I have to bring you back. But before I do, I beg of you -- I beg of you -- please, please don't hurt my family. Please.
Nash: I promise.
Antonio: What's he promising you?
Jessica: That if Tess comes out, he won't run away with her.
Antonio: And you believe him?
Jessica: Yes, I do.
Nash: Thank you.
Kevin: All right, now that we got that settled, you should go, Nash.
Nash: Yeah. I should probably make one thing clear before I go. The baby -- if it's mine, it's mine and Tess', and I will never, ever give up our baby.
Carlo: I'm not letting anyone go until I get something in return. Am I making myself clear, commissioner?
Bo: I'm willing to meet you halfway, but I need something in return, Hesser, some show of good faith.
Carlo: Ok. You can shoot the first hostage.
Bo: No! Wait.
Carlo: I'm listening.
Bo: What do you want, Hesser?
Natalie: He's not picking up his phone. He's always answering his phone.
Evangeline: Are you sure? Ok, ok, thank you. He's not at the station. No one's seen or heard from him for hours.
Natalie: I'm going to Statesville. Are you coming?
John: What are you going to do, huh? You just going to wing it, hope you don't catch a bullet?
Cristian: That's a chance I'm willing to take. If I don't find Carlo, I'm a dead man anyway.
John: I'm not going to let you do it. It's for your own good. You go out there, it's suicide.
Cristian: Yeah. Yeah, you know, you're -- you're probably right. Thank you for being such a compassionate friend.
>> On the next "One Life to Live" --
Viki: What are we supposed to think?
Todd: That I'm innocent.
Hayes: Carlo says, "Kill John Mc Bain."
Carlo: Kill him. I'll watch.
Natalie: After everything he's done, he deserves what he gets!
Evangeline: Don't say that. You don't know who he is.
