Jackie: Todd Manning?

Todd: Jackie Mc Naughton.

Jackie: You're Viki Davidson's brother, right?

Todd: Yeah.

Jackie: I got a message you wanted to see me?  Is it about ms. Davidson?  She all right?

Todd: Oh, she's fine.  It's not about her.

Jackie: All right.  Well, it's your meeting.

Todd: I understand that you're a guy that can help me solve a problem.

Jackie: Well, that would depend on what kind of problem.

Todd: I need this woman found fast.

Jackie: And when she is?

Todd: I want her taken out of the picture, permanently.

Margaret: Oh, thank God you're here.

Ginger: You said it was an emergency.

Margaret: Oh, yes, a dire one.

Ginger: What did you want to meet here for?  This trash heap's no place for you in your condition.

Margaret: Yes, of course, I know that, but I had nowhere else to go.

Ginger: I thought you were staying at Asa Buchanan's guesthouse.

Margaret: Yes, well, he threw me out.  Todd has left me flat again.  He might as well have taken my heart out and ripped it to shreds.

Ginger: I'm sorry, aunt Margaret.

Margaret: You're the only one that we have left.  You are going to help us, aren't you, Ginger?

Jessica: Where am I?  What -- what is this place?

Nash: You're going to be ok.  You've -- you've got a fever, all right?  Here -- take this.  Lay down.

Jessica: No, get away from me.

Nash: Take it easy, all right?  I'm just trying to help.

Jessica: I don't want your help, I want Antonio!

Natalie: What the hell do you think you're doing?

Layla: Touch me like that again --

Antonio: Natalie, take it easy.

Natalie: What is going on her

Antonio: It's complicated.

Natalie: Complicated?  Well, it didn't look like it to me.  Evangeline's little sister was all over you.

Antonio: Natalie --

Natalie: How could you do this?  How could you do this to Jessica?

Layla: Well, excuse me, but while you were out snaking Evangeline's man, things have changed.  Jessica's out of the picture, and he's with me now.  Isn't that right, baby?

John: How's it going, Cris?

Cristian: Don't call me that.

John: It's your name.

Cristian: And you swore you'd take that to your grave.

John: I haven't told anyone who you are.

Cristian: Yeah?  What about your other promise?

John: You're right.  I screwed up, no excuses.

Cristian: Is that supposed to make me feel better?

John: No.  Anyway, that's not why I'm here.

Cristian: Then why are you here?

John: I think it's time for Natalie to know the truth -- that Cristian Vega's alive.

Dorian: Thank you, sweetheart.

David: Mm-hmm.  Just got one question -- why did you tell the maitre d' that we wanted a table for four?

Dorian: You'll see.

David: Oh.  I'll see?  Who are we expecting?  Spencer -- what a treat.

Spencer: Hello, David.  Dorian --

Dorian: Hello.

Spencer: Thank you very much for the invitation.

Dorian: Oh, my pleasure.

David: Would it do me any good to ask what he is doing here?

Dorian: Spencer is going to be your best man at our wedding soon, and I thought it would be nice to have him help us plan the wedding.

David: Is that right?

Dorian: Yes.

David: Saving mankind isn't enough anymore.  You've become a wedding planner.

Dorian: My matron of honor is also going to be here, but I don't know where she is.  It's not like Viki to be late.

David: Oh, come on.  Viki's not coming to this lunch.  Kelly said that she's in London seeing some sort of heart specialist.

Dorian: Oh.  How could I forget something like that?

David: Look at this.  Does this look like a stupid face to you?  Don't you answer that question.  Viki was never invited to this lunch, so why don't you cut the crap and tell me what exactly we're doing at this little afternoon soiree with Spencer here?  What is this all about?

Jessica: Antonio --

Nash: Antonio?  Isn't that the guy who used to be with your sister?

Jessica: No.  Antonio is my --

Tess' voice: Careful, Jessie.  I don't think we're in Llanview anymore.

Jessica: Stop.

Nash: Tess?

Jessica: Oh, my head --

Nash: Ok, just tell me what I can do to help.  Tess?

Tess' voice: Say good night, Jessica.  You don't even know where you are.

Jessica: Stop!  Go away!

Nash: Tess?

Jessica: Go away.

Nash: Tess?

Tess: Oh, God.  Thank God.  I thought you'd never come back.

Nash: All right.

Tess: Oh.

Nash: It's ok.  You were -- uh --

Tess: What?

Nash: Delirious, I guess.

Tess: Oh --

Nash: Yeah.  Tess.  Yes, it must  be that, no you're burning up.  You know, I'm going to -- I'm going to try not to take this personally, but you were calling out for Antonio.

Tess: I was?

Nash: Yeah.  Why?

Natalie: Right -- you two are together.  Ok, Antonio, can you get rid of her, please?  Obviously, she's living in some sort of fantasy world, because Antonio's with Jessica.

Layla: Oh, really?

Natalie: Mm-hmm.

Layla: Then where is she?  Hello, Jessica?  I don't see her anywhere.

Antonio: Layla, back off.

Layla: Who the hell does she think she is coming in here telling you how to live your life?  Jessica flew the coop, and he moved on -- with me.

Natalie: Is this really true?

Antonio: Would you give us a second?  What the hell do you think you're doing?

Layla: What?  I'm trying to help you get your daughter back from R.J.

Antonio: Layla-- no, look, I understand that, but this little relationship of ours?  It's only for the benefit of the court.

Layla: Do you want this to work out or not?  Because we have to make this seem real.

Antonio: Not to Natalie.

Layla: To everybody, Antonio. R.J. found a stable mother for Jamie.

Antonio: Look, Lindsay Rappaport's been called a lot of things, but "stable's" not one of them.

Layla: But she looks that way and that's all that counts.  R.J. found a mommy for Jamie, and if you don't do the same, you risk losing your daughter for good.

Natalie: Ok, sorry, guys, but if you're done whispering, I'd really like an answer.  I mean, Antonio, please tell me you're not with this -- just tell me that it's not really over with you and Jessica.

Antonio: I can't do that.

Cristian: Get the hell out.

John: She deserves to know, Cris.

Cristian: First you almost get her killed, and now you want me to destroy the rest of her life?  How could you let that psycho get to her, huh?

John: Hey --

Cristian: Where the hell were you?

John: I'm out there doing the very best I can, all right?  You're sitting in a 6-by-9 drawing little pictures of a woman you may never lay eyes on again.

Cristian: You promised to keep Natalie safe and you blew it.

John: You think I don't know that?  At least I'm not lying to myself.

Cristian: What are you talking about, man?

John: How you trashed your cell when you found out that she was in trouble.  Obviously, you're still in love with her, man.

Cristian: I'll always love her.  But the only way she can be happy is to be free to love somebody else.  She deserves to be loved.  I want that in her life.  And I'd rather spend the next hundred years in this hellhole than to take that away from her.

John: Natalie doesn't need to be protected from the truth.

Cristian: Yeah, she's not as tough as she makes out.  You're the only one that knows I'm still alive.  If Natalie finds out --

John: She won't find out.  I gave you my word.

Cristian: You said you'd look out for Natalie for me.  Do better.  Even if she tells you to get lost, even if she hates you for it.

John: Before I make you any more promises, there's something you need to know.

Margaret: So I thought we'd come and stay with you for a while.

Ginger: Across the hall from the Mannings?

Margaret: Are you saying no?

ginger: No, no, no, it's not --

Margaret: Must I remind you that you up in that apartment in the first place?

Ginger: I know.  But I -- I can't help you spy on the Manning’s anymore.

Margaret: What did you say?

Ginger: I'm sorry, aunt Margaret, I just can't.

Margaret: You're sorry?  Have you forgotten what those Mannings have done to me?  Todd seduced me.  He -- he made me believe that he was in love with me all to get dirt on Kevin Buchanan, and now that I'm pregnant with his baby, he won't even look at me.

Ginger: Don't you think there might be a reason for that, aunt Margaret?

Margaret: They got to you, haven't they?  They have been filling your head with lies.

Ginger: You tried to kill the Mannings.  You tried to wipe them off the face of the earth.  That's the truth, isn't it?

Todd: I want this woman wiped off the face of the earth.  You got it?

Jackie: Yeah, I got it.  She looks familiar.  Where would I have seen her before?

Todd: Her name's Margaret Cochran.  She -- she tried to kill me and my fiancée.  She held me prisoner in a cabin for weeks.

Jackie: I saw something about that on the news.  That was your fiancée?  This whack job tried to put her on a meat grinder or something?

Todd: Car smasher.  She also threatened my children, which is why I want her gone for good this time.  Will you do it?

Jackie: Accidents can happen.  But before they do, I need to know what it is about this Cochran broad that you're not telling me.

Todd: Ok, yeah, there is one thing.  You probably don't want to give this job to someone who's very squeamish.

Jackie: Why is that?

Todd: Well, let's just say she's got a bit of a medical condition.

Jackie: Medical conditions cost double.

Todd: That's no problem.  I just want her out of my life.  So we got a deal?

Dorian: David, darling, we are about to be married soon.  Spencer, we are about to become family soon.  And in the interest of our becoming a new and happy family, I think that the slate has to be clean.

David: What does that mean, exactly?

Dorian: It means that whatever secrets you two may have, they're yours.  I mean it.  They're yours to keep.  It's over, it's finished.

[Dorian laughs]

Dorian: Truly, I am not even interested anymore.

David: Since when?

Dorian: The subject of your family history is now closed.  Moving right along -- Spencer, if you are in the mood for seafood, the Dover sole is fabulous, but the salmon is world-class.

Cristian: The only thing I need to know about Natalie is that you're going to keep her safe.  Can you promise me that?

John: I can't do that until you understand something first, something about Natalie.

Cristian: What about her?

John: She's involved with someone.

Cristian: I guess I always knew Natalie would find someone.  Anyway, that's -- that's good news.  Now do you understand why I didn't want her to know I'm alive?

John: You saying you're all right with that?

Cristian: Yes, I'm ok with it.  Do I want to know who she's with, how happy they are?  No.  You can leave that out.

John: You're her husband.  You have a right to know what's going on.

Cristian: What did I just say, Mc Bain?

John: It's me, Cris.  I'm the one Natalie's involved with.

Antonio: Look, Jessica and I, we were -- we were in a relationship.  You just don't walk out on somebody like that.

Natalie: Really?  Well, you did.  I mean, you remember your little buddy Sonia?  Which, by the way, that little rebound didn't last too long.

Layla: Hmm.  I guess Sonia didn't know how to keep her man.

Natalie: Oh, my God.  You owe Jessica a second chance.

Antonio: I already gave her one -- in New York, where I tracked her down, and then after a couple of days she was gone again.

Natalie: I didn't know.

Antonio: Yeah, well, you know, I don't even know where she is right now.  I mean, do you?  I mean, did she come to visit you at the hospital when they dragged you half dead out of that pit?  Did she even bother to call?

Natalie: No.

Antonio: You know, so much has been going on here in Llanview, and Jessica doesn't even seem to care.  I can't tell you how many times I have been jerked around.  So I've moved on.

Natalie: Yeah.  Yeah, you've moved on.  You moved on pretty fast.  I mean, how long have you two known each other?

Layla: We knew that we were --

Natalie: Oh, my God, I'm not talking to you!  Stop!  Antonio, how could you do this to Jessica?  How could you just replace her in a matter of days?

Antonio: She replaced me first.

Nash: You should -- you should be inside . You have a fever.  This is a little weird.  Why would you call out for your dead sister's boyfriend?

Tess: I was having a bad dream.

Nash: Ok, and -- what about?

Tess: It was about the day that Jessica died.  It was just like how it was in real life.  Antonio was the one that told me that Jessica had killed herself, and I really needed him that day.

Tess: I must have been still half asleep when you came in, so that's why I was asking for him, I guess.

Nash: I'm sorry you had to relive that.

Nash: You -- um -- you never did tell me why your sister committed suicide.

Tess: Because of something that happened when we were kids.

Cristian: You and Natalie?

John: Yeah.

Cristian: I always thought there might be something going on there.  What about Evangeline Williamson?

John: She ended it.  Look, this thing with Natalie -- it's pretty new and I don't know where it's going.  I thought you had a right to know, especially because of who you really are.  It doesn't seem right keeping it from Natalie anymore.  So you say the word, man, and I'll tell her the truth, let the two of you be together again.

Cristian: We can't be together.  I killed any shot we had at a future when I pulled the plug on Tico.  I'm in here for life.

John: So you're saying you can accept me and Natalie?

Cristian: You asking me for my blessing?

John: I guess in a strange way I am.

Natalie: Wait a minute, you're saying that Jess is involved with someone else?

Antonio: I'm not 100% sure, but that's the way it seems, yeah.

Natalie: Oh, my God, I don't believe it.  But, Antonio, even if that's true, that doesn't mean you have to jump into a relationship two seconds after she's gone.  I mean, what, are you trying to get back at her?

Layla: Oh, please.

Natalie: I'm not talking to you.

Layla: Well, I'm talking to you.

Antonio: Hey, look, I'll talk, ok?  My relationship with Layla has nothing to do with Jessica.  And it is real.

Layla: As real as it gets.

Antonio: I'm just sorry that you had to find out like this.

Natalie: Yeah, well, I'm sorry I had to find out at all.

Antonio: But you are going to have to get used to it.  Look, I -- are you ok?

Natalie: Yeah, I'm great.  Things just changed so much since I've been gone -- this happened.

Antonio: But what Layla said before about John -- is it true?

Natalie: Yeah.  Yeah, I guess so.  I mean, we're both kind of finally moving to the next step.

Antonio: Good.  I -- I mean, I'm glad.  You deserve to be happy after everything you've been through.

Cristian: You want my blessing to be with Natalie?  That's why you came?

John: I came here to give you a chance to be her husband again.

Cristian: You knew I wouldn't go for that.

John: No, I didn't.

Cristian: The thought of you and Natalie makes me sick.

John: I know.  It's up to you, Cris.  What do you want to do?

Cristian: I want Natalie to be happy.  And if it's you she chooses to be with -- but if I ever find out you hurt her, I swear I'll tear this place up brick by brick and find you, and I'll kill you.  Guard!  Get out, Mc Bain.

Margaret: Oh, Ginger, Ginger, you can be so naive sometimes.  Those horrible things that the Manning’s told you about me --

Ginger: It was all over the news.

Margaret: But who controls the news, you stupid little thing!  Everyone is going to say things about me that I want them to say?  Look, this baby is for real.

Ginger: All right, so you're pregnant, that's true.  But you forced Mr. Manning to have sex with you.  That's the truth, isn't it?

Margaret: What?

Ginger: Mr. Manning never would've willingly had sex with you.  He loves Blair!

Margaret: Take it back, you little bitch!  Oh, I'm so sorry.  Oh, I didn't mean that.  You -- oh, I swear I didn't.  If we could just come and stay with you for a couple of days until I can find --

Ginger: No, no, no, no, it won't -- it won't work.

Margaret: Why is that?

Ginger: There's something I need to tell you.

Margaret: What is it?

Ginger: The Manning’s have hired me to be their full-time nanny.  I'm moving in with them.

Margaret: Oh, that is wonderful news!  Now you can keep tabs on them all around the clock for me!

Ginger: No.  I can't and I won't.  I like Todd and Blair, and I'm crazy about Jack and Starr.  I will not help you hurt them anymore.

Margaret: Fine.  Yeah.  If that's the way you want to play it --

Margaret: Well, I'll just have to hurt you instead.

Todd: So what's it going to be?

Jackie: I'll take it under advisement.

Todd: What does that mean?

Jackie: It means I'll think about it.

Todd: What is there to think about?  Is it the money?

Jackie: No.  It's the way I do business.  You don't like it, find somebody else to take the job.  Or better yet, why don't you do it yourself?

David: You're going to have to back up a little bit, Dorian.  You've been hounding me about my past for weeks, and now all of a sudden you're just going to drop it?

Dorian: All I care about, darling, is our future -- years and years of wedded bliss.

Spencer: I think that sounds like a very healthful decision.

David: Oh, do you really?  What would you know about it?

Spencer: Well, I've certainly made my fair share of mistakes in the past and as far as my brother and I are concerned, you're right.  There really isn't anything particularly interesting anyway, so -- isn't that right, David?

David: That's right, Spencer.

Dorian: Well, good.  The past is the past and there it shall remain.

[Phone rings]

David: Is that me?

Dorian: No, I think it's me.  Yes.  Oh, my, it's Cassie.  I better take this.  Excuse me, gentlemen.

David: Ahem.

Dorian: Cassie, darling, it must be so humid in Savannah.  Really?  I -- no, I had no idea that Blair and the children were arriving.  What?  But that is so -- I'm going to have to call you back.  No, darling, I'll call you back.  I love you.  Bye.

Todd: Dorian.

Dorian: She said that Blair and the children have just arrived in Savannah with a cadre of armed guard would you like to tell me why that's necessary?

Todd: They're fine.  I'm just making sure Margaret can't get to them.

Dorian: Really?  Well, why did they have to leave so suddenly?  Margaret's been on the loose for months.

Spencer: What happened to you?  Somebody stab you, huh?  Manning, hey -- who did this to you?

Todd: Margaret.  Margaret.

Spencer: Margaret?  Who's Margaret?

Todd: I couldn't -- I couldn't kill -- I couldn't kill her.  She's pregnant with my baby.

Spencer: That's a good question, Todd.  Has this Margaret woman returned to Llanview?

Ginger: Aunt Margaret, please put the gun down.

Margaret: Oh, relax, will you?  It's not even loaded.

Ginger: Still --

Margaret: I'm sorry that I lost my temper.  It's just that I ask you for one simple little thing and you can't even do that for me.

Gingerer: Aunt Margaret, I think you should turn yourself in.

Margaret: Oh you do, do you ?  Well, if I did, I'd have to tell them how you're keeping tabs on Todd and Blair for me.  You could be charged as an accessory.  Yes, a beautiful little girl like you with a bright future to be tainted like that.

Ginger: What are you going to do?

Margaret: I don't know.  But I do need some money.  Oh.  $20?  That's all you have?

Ginger: Sorry.

Margaret: Oh.  Well, I guess it will do.

Ginger: Aunt Margaret, I'm begging you.  You've got a baby to think about.  Why don't you just forget about the Manning’s and focus on your own life?  Maybe you can find some peace.

Magaret: You can Ginger--

Margaret: Oh, Ginger, you don't know how wrong you are.  This is the only thing that' going to get me any peace.

Todd: Margaret Cochran's got nothing to do with you.

Spencer: No but as I understand it, she could be a threat to my future sister-in-law's family.

Todd: Yeah, well, I got her under control.

Dorian: So help me, Todd, if Margaret lays so much as a finger on Blair or her children, I will hold you personally responsible.

Todd: That's not going to happen.

Dorian: Really?  And how can you be so sure?

Todd: Because I'll wring her scrawny little neck before I let her touch my family.

David: Huh.  Well, I, for one, believe him.

Dorian: Honestly, when I think of the kind of men that my niece should be involved with -- well, it just -- no, really, David, it breaks my heart.

David: Well, to tell you the truth, she could do a whole lot worse.

[Phone rings]

Spencer: Excuse me, I have --

Dorian: Yes.

Spencer: Well, I'm afraid I have to leave.  It's the hospital.

David: Well, don't let us keep you.

Dorian: My goodness, can you rejoin us later?

Spencer: You know, I think this one might take a little time, actually --

Dorian: Oh.

Spencer: And I did have my key here.

David: Oh.

Dorian: Well, do you think it dropped on the floor?

David: You knucklehead, where'd you put it?

Spencer: No, I don't see it -- it's ok, I'll get another one at the front desk.  Thank you so much for the invitation.

Dorian: Oh, you're quite welcome, yes.

Spencer: And for what it's worth, I think that it's a very wise decision to keep the Truman family history in the past.

Dorian: Oh, yes, indeed, I agree with you.

Spencer: See you both real soon.

David: Yeah, real soon, I hope.

Dorian: Give me your hand.  Come on.  Ok, when are you going to start grilling me about my sudden change of heart?

David: Would it do me any good?

Dorian: No.  But, honestly, the subject of the family history -- your family history -- is now closed.  Besides which, what I don't know about Spencer -- well, it certainly can't ht t me can it?

Nash: So what happened to you and your sister when you were kids?

Tess: So you want to know why I'm here?  What deep, dark secret from your past brought me out because you were too wimpy to handle it?

Jessica: Yes, tell me, Tess.

Tess: Hmm.  I forgot.

Jessica: No, you didn't.  You know exactly what it is.

Nash: Do you want to talk about it?

Tess: Not really.

Nash: Ok.

Tess: Jessica -- she just couldn't handle it.

Nash: Do you feel guilty for somehow surviving?

Tess: Yeah I guess so.

Nash: Well, you know you shouldn't, right?  There's nothing you could've done to prevent it.

Tess: I should've seen it coming.

Nash: No, you shouldn't have, you couldn't have.  All right?  If someone has decided to check out, they'll find a way to do it.  Jessica did.  There's nothing you could've done.

Tess: Yeah, I guess so.

Nash: I'm going to go get a wet cloth for your -- for your head, ok?

Tess: Damn it, Jessica, why can't you just leave us the hell alone?

Natalie: Listen, Antonio -- I'm -- I'm sorry that I went off on you before about her.

Antonio: It's ok.  Change is hard for everybody.  But it can be good, too.

Natalie: I guess.

Antonio: So why did you come by anyway?  I mean, you know, before Layla and me --

Natalie: I'm so sorry, I almost forgot.  Lindsay Rappaport called me, and apparently they have a buyer for all of Cristian's paintings.

Antonio: Well, that's great.

Natalie: Yeah, it is.  I wanted you to know.  Maybe you wanted to stop by her gallery and see if there's anything you want before the sale goes through.

Antonio: I will stop by tomorrow.

Natalie: It's kind of hard, you know, giving up all of Cristian's work.

Antonio: Yeah.  Yeah, but at least it'll be appreciated.  I mean, my -- my little brother was an amazing talent.

Natalie: Yeah, he was.  Listen, Antonio -- you know that Cristian's always going to be a part of me no matter what happens with John, right?

Antonio: Look, if -- if Jessica calls, you'll tell me?

Natalie: Why?

Antonio: Layla, all right?

Natalie: Ahem.

Antonio: I would like to tell her about her myself.

Natalie: Yeah, well, I still don't get that.

Antonio: I hope that this thing with John -- I hope it goes the way you want it to.

Natalie: Yeah, me, too.  Thank you.

[Phone rings]

Antonio: Ok it sounds serious.

John: It is.

Antonio: I hated lying to Natalie.

Layla: Would you stop with the guilt?  This is about Jamie.  You and I are just playing a part until you get your daughter back.

Antonio: Yeah, well, you seemed to enjoy it a hell of a lot more than I did.

Layla: Well, I'm not going to lie.  I did like rubbing it in Natalie's face after what she did to my sister.  I'll pull it back and keep it real, but you got to do the same.

Antonio: I'm willing to do whatever I got to do to get Jamie back, and if that means lying to the people I love, then so be it.

Layla: Including Jessica?

Antonio: You leave Jessica out of it. Ok?

Layla: Ok.  Sorry.

Antonio: It's all right.  It's just there's a lot of stuff going on with Jessica that you wouldn't understand.

Nash: All right.

Tess: That feels really nice.

Nash: Yeah, it's supposed to.  So you still thinking of what happened to your sister?

Tess: It's pretty hard not to.

Nash: Well, then I will put it on a loop so you can hear it again and again and again.  You are not responsible for what happened to your sister. Hmm.

Tess: I wish I could believe that.

Nash: It's true.

Tess: You know, maybe with your help I could finally bury Jessica forever.

Cristian: I hope he makes Natalie happy.  But he’s a mad man.

John: Hey.

Natalie: Hey.  What -- what is all this?

John: I don't know.  What does it look like?

Natalie: You set it up, you tell me.

John: Well, I just thought maybe you'd want to spend the night with me.

>> On the next "One Life to Live" --

Evangeline: Something going on between you two I should know about?

Margaret: You'll have to be sneakier this time to get your daddy's attention.

Guard: Got a cellmate I'm tossing in with you and I don't want any trouble.

Natalie: So how long a night were you planning?

John: All, if you're up to it.
