David: Hi there.
David: What are you doing?
Dorian: Counting the stars.
David: I tried that once. Give you a hand. You take that half, I'll take this half.
Dorian: David, where did you go when you went rushing out of the country club earlier?
David: Oh, I got a call from "craze." You know, it's becoming a 24-hour job being the keeper of who's in and what's out.
Dorian: Kelly said you were out running an errand for Adriana.
David: I was. I mean, that's what I was doing when the office called.
Dorian: Don't be insulting. Lie better.
David: I would never lie to you, intentionally.
Dorian: All right, David, enough is enough. I know your disappearing act had an awful lot to do with your brother, Spencer. Now, what is it that you're hiding about him from me?
Kelly: Well, I had fun tonight. Thanks.
Spencer: Well, I hope you're not saying good night.
Spencer: I was thinking we could maybe have a glass of wine, spend some time together, talk for a while? What do you think?
Kelly: Well, it is a lovely evening. It'd be a shame to waste it.
Spencer: I can't think of anyone I'd rather spend it with.
Kelly: You haven't met everyone in Llanview.
Spencer: I don't need to.
Kevin: Kelly, listen, I --
Kelly: Kevin. What are you doing here? Are you following us?
Viki: Oh, sir. Please, could you tell me, please, what's going on?
Officer: Yes, ma'am. We found the girl. She's going to be ok.
Viki: The girl? What do you mean, the girl? There were two women who were kidnapped.
Officer: Sorry, ma'am, we only found one.
Paramedic: Current pulse ox.
Second paramedic: 94% on room air.
Third paramedic: All right, I'll get on the phone with the doc. You start the I.V.
John: I'm telling you, Bo, Natalie was right over there. What happened to her?
Officer: I'm sorry, sir. I was securing the perimeter.
John: This is Mc Bain. We need to get this place locked down right now. Start a search. We have a victim missing. I repeat, Natalie Vega is missing.
Viki: Oh, my God!
Bo: Oh, Viki, I told you to wait outside.
Viki: John, where is my daughter?
Kevin: No, I'm not following you. I just took a chance you might be home.
Kelly: Well, you could've knocked.
Kevin: Oh, I'm sorry. I'm a little distracted. I was at the police station checking on Natalie.
Kelly: No, I'm sorry. Is there any news?
Kevin: No, there's no news. Asa was there.
Kelly: Asa's back?
Kevin: Yeah, he's back, all right.
Spencer: You know, I think I'd better take off, let you two keep family business in the family.
Kelly: Oh --
Kevin: Well, I appreciate it.
Kelly: Oh, ok.
Spencer: I had a great time.
Kelly: Yeah, me, too.
Spencer: Talk to you soon.
Kelly: Yeah. Good night.
Kelly: You know, you didn't have to be rude. Whatever you're going through is not Spencer's fault.
Kevin: Oh, well, he sure didn't waste a hell of a lot of time showing you what a sensitive guy he is, did he?
Kelly: What are you talking about?
Kevin: What am I talking about? He doesn't give a damn about our family. That quick exit is all about scoring points with you.
Spencer: So Asa Buchanan is back. Isn't that interesting.
Dorian: You know, for someone who's been so eager to share his life with me, you've got a fine way of showing it.
David: Why? Just because I don't want to talk about Spencer?
Dorian: Because sharing your life with somebody means exactly that -- sharing everything -- I mean, everything in your life, and that includes your long-lost relatives.
David: Oh, right, similar to the way that you shared with me about your long-lost daughter.
Dorian: I told you the whole story once Adriana came back into my life.
David: Not exactly.
Dorian: Touché. The fact is, though, I was eventually completely honest with you, David, and now that Spencer is back in your life, you should be completely honest with me.
David: I really don't want to talk about this.
Dorian: Ok. Fine. So I suppose I'll just have to resort to your tactics when you think you're being shut out.
David: Oh, no, you do not want to live in Viki's carriage house, believe me. Besides, running away has never gotten us anywhere. We should know that at the very least.
Dorian: I never want you out of my life again.
David: Me, either.
Dorian: Do you know what I missed most about you when you were gone?
David: It's hard to say. I have so many fine attributes.
Dorian: David! Come on, I'm being serious here.
David: Ok. Tell me.
David: What did you miss? What did you miss the most?
Dorian: I missed lying in bed with you after we made love, in the dark, talking.
David: I missed that, too.
Dorian: We told each other our deepest secrets, shared our most delicious misdeeds.
David: Our misdeeds were fun, weren't they?
David: I hope we have more misdeeds in the future.
Dorian: Uh -- you know, you're the only person I could've told about my having forged that checof Viki's. Yes, the only person in this whole wide world I could've confided that in.
David: What are you talking about? Who would I be to judge you? You know my history.
Dorian: Yes. I thought I knew your history -- that is, until your brother Spencer came to town.
David: You're right. You deserve to know the truth.
Marcie: You know, I -- I can't wait any longer, so make sure that detective Mc Bain gets this, ok?
Woman: Miss Walsh, wait. The commissioner and lieutenant Mc Bain want you to stay here in case they need you.
Marcie: Well, if they need me, then I'll be with them.
Lisa: I'm Lisa. I'm Lisa Williamson.
Michael: Yes, yes, I'm Dr. Mc Bain.
Lisa: I got a call to come down here.
Michael: Yes, yes, I'm Dr. Michael Mc Bain.
Lisa: Is it Evangeline? Did you find my daughter?
Michael: Yes, yes, we found her. The paramedics are picking her up. They're bringing her in right now.
Lisa: Is she all right? Did that madman hurt her?
Michael: I don't know much about her condition.
Lisa: What did she say?
Michael: We won't know until she gets here.
Lisa: Oh, God, she's not --
Michael: No, no, no, no. She was found conscious, and like I said, I won't know more until she gets here. She should be here shortly.
Lisa: Oh, God, please, please, please let my baby be ok. Please.
John: You shouldn't be in here, Mrs. Davidson.
Bo: John's right.
Viki: What's happened to Natalie? John, answer me!
John: I don't have any answers for you right now. Excuse me.
Viki: No, no, please, you have to tell me something!
Bo: Let's talk over here.
Viki: No, what about Natalie?
Bo: Just for a minute, just for a minute.
Officer: Lieutenant? Lieutenant? C.S.U. found something. You might want to take a look.
John: All right.
Viki: John managed to get to Natalie. How could she just disappear?
Bo: I don't know, but everyone we have is working on this. Viki, whoever took her is not going to get far. Look, I want you to go home.
Bo: Viki, you just got out of the hospital. You haven't even recovered from surgery.
Viki: I'm not going anywhere, not till they find my daughter.
Bo: Well, you're not going to do her any good from the morgue.
Viki: Oh, did you find something?
John: I think I know where the killer took Natalie.
Kelly: Look, this has nothing to do with Spencer, so why don't you just tell me what's going on.
Kevin: I don't even know where to start, honestly. With Asa back and Natalie, I just wish we'd hear something.
Kelly: So do I. Bo is doing everything humanly possible to find her. Tell me about Asa. What's going on with him?
Kevin: Well, that depends on which story he's telling.
Kelly: I don't understand.
Kevin: According to Asa, Carlo Hesser is the mastermind behind this whole Blair thing.
Kelly: You've got to be kidding me. That doesn't make any sense. Why?
Kevin: I have no idea. I mean, Hesser says that if Asa doesn't confess, he's going to kill Duke and Adriana.
Kelly: Oh, my God. How did they get involved in this?
Kevin: Well, his people have them held hostage down in Argentina. I mean, I just heard about this.
Kelly: I've got to call Dorian.
Kevin: No, no, it's ok, though. I mean, I'm sorry, I shouldn't -- Duke's fine, ok? He checked in, and I don't know the details, but they got away somehow.
Kelly: What about Carlo?
Kevin: Well, he's in jail where he belongs.
Kelly: So everything's working out.
Kevin: Yeah, I mean, it's -- you know, it's working out. For a minute there, though, you know, I mean, I almost lost Duke tonight.
Kevin: I don't know what I would've done, you know, if I had lost him the way I lost Ace.
Dorian: So your father educated you in the way of the con.
David: Oh, yeah. Our training began when we could walk and talk, and by the time we could ride a bike we were part of the act.
Dorian: What kind of an act?
David: Oh, all different kinds. There was the little boy who was lost, who was searching for his parents. There was the blind kid who was in desperate need of an operation. That was my favorite. I did blind good.
Dorian: Oh, I'll bet. And people gave you money?
David: No, not always. But they were usually distracted long enough for Spencer to lift their wallets. My dad always said if they were stupid enough to fall for a con, they got what was coming to them. Hmm. J.T. Truman. Life with my father made "Paper Moon" look like "Sesame Street."
Dorian: Wait a minute -- did you just say your father's name was Truman?
Dorian: It's funny, I just assumed it was Spencer who changed his name.
David: Oh, no, no. I changed my name when I was 18.
Dorian: David, I've known you for how many years? We're about to be married, for heaven's sake.
Dorian: "So"? I don't -- I feel like I don't even know you.
David: What are you --
Dorian: What else are you keeping from me?
Lisa: Oh, God, baby! Baby!
Michael: This is the mother. It's ok.
Lisa: Baby, are you ok?
Michael: How is she doing?
Evangeline: It's ok, I'm ok.
Paramedic: Smoke inhalation and rope burns on her wrists.
Evangeline: I'm ok, mama.
Paramedic: Blood pressure 98/70 --
Lisa: I love you.
Paramedic: Pulse 122.
Michael: Ok. Listen, Mrs. Williamson, we need to take her into a cubicle. You will get to see her later.
Paramedic: Come on, gentlemen.
Lisa: Baby, I'll waiting right here.
Michael: It is going to be ok.
Lisa: Thank you, God. Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you so much.
Viki: Where did he take her?
John: We found this in the locker room. Is that Natalie's?
Bo: Come on, Viki. You shouldn't be on your feet.
Viki: Can I have it, please?
John: I'm sorry. We need to check it for prints and D.N.A.
Bo: Come on. Let's get you home.
Viki: No, Bo, please.
Bo: No, it's ok. Uh, you got this covered?
Viki: John, please. Please find her. Please.
John: I will.
Bo: Officer, would you just --
Officer: Yes, sir.
Bo: Make sure Miss Davidson gets to my car? I'll be right out, Viki.
John: It was caught on the edge of the laundry chute. The killer must've dumped Natalie down and followed her inside.
Bo: Are you dusting the chute?
John: I'll let you know what we find.
Bo: All right. I'll talk to you later.
John: Hey, Bo? I meant what I said. I will find her. You have my word.
Bo: I know that, John.
John: Hey. Get that to C.S.U.
Officer: You got it. Move it along. Nothing to see.
David: What are you talking about? You know exactly who I am.
Dorian: Do I, David Truman?
David: Don't call me that.
Dorian: Truman. David Truman, David Truman --
David: Listen to me. I changed my name legally 20 years ago when I dropped the life.
Dorian: You never dropped the life!
David: What are you talking about? Listen, I've got a legitimate job now at "Craze."
Dorian: Only because I made it a prenuptial requisite. David, you are a con man. Lovable, but definitely a con man.
David: There is a hell of a big difference between a garden-variety grifter and a Truman.
Dorian: What does that mean?
David: I guess what that means is I have always lived my life the only way I knew how. I tried charming my way into people's hearts and into their bank accounts, but that's not what I wanted. For all those years, I was looking for a way out, and I never thought I would find it. Then you came back into my life. When I realized that I was in love with you, I knew I could never be David Truman again, not by name or thought or deed. So if you don't think that you know who I am, here's who I am. I am the man who wakes up every morning and thanks whatever force in the universe led me back to you, Dorian. I love you. And if that's not good enough, if you still want to bail on our wedding because of some preoccupation you've got with my brother, then I guess I'm not the only one who was looking for a way out.
Viki: Bo, I'm feeling better. Honestly, I'm feeling better. Please, I would like to go back and at least try and help find Natalie, please.
Bo: We already talked about this. You're going to go in and you're going to lie down and get some rest, ok? I'm going to stay right here and make sure you're ok.
Viki: What is that?
Bo: Uh, nothing. You know what? You go on in, I'll check it out.
Bo: Hey. Show yourself.
Spencer: You wouldn't shoot an unarmed man, would you, commissioner?
Bo: You never know. What the hell are you doing here, Truman?
Bo: That's Viki. Viki?
Kevin: When I heard about Duke tonight, I -- I couldn't help but go back to the day that J.R. Chandler came and took Ace away from me. I just -- I wanted to get as far as I could, as fast as I could, away from the family and away from all the memories, away from you. So I just -- I started driving, you know? I mean, I told my mother that I was going to go up to her cabin, but in reality I didn't know where I was going. And if I hadn't run into Todd Manning on the side of the road -- I mean, who knows? I might still be driving.
Kelly: Running away doesn't work. I learned that last year when our marriage was falling apart. I'd like to think that we both learned something.
Kevin: I realized that today at the station when I heard about Duke -- that I didn't want to run away from the people I love anymore. I wanted to run to them. Not them, you. That's really why I came here tonight, because I wanted to be with you.
Michael: She's going to be ok, Mrs. Williamson. It's going to take a lot more than a little smoke inhalation to keep Evangeline down. Listen, you guys can talk for a little while, but, listen, I need her to put that mask back on as soon as possible. We have to get her oxygen levels back up to normal.
Evangeline: Thank you, Michael.
Michael: Well, it's good to have you back, kid.
Lisa: Baby, don't talk. Just let me look at you.
Evangeline: No, mom. I need for you to know this. I would not be here if it weren't for John. He saved my life.
Lisa: Baby, how did the fire start?
Evangeline: The killer took me and Natalie to the basketball court at the love center, and he tied us both to the poles underneath the nets on the opposite sides of the court. And then he started a fire, first under Natalie --
Evangeline: And then under me. It was like he wanted to burn us at the stake.
Lisa: Oh, God, baby. Oh, my God.
Evangeline: And then he left. I fought like hell, mommy. I struggled. I struggled to break my hands free, but the bondage was too tight. And the next thing I knew, John came rushing in.
Evangeline: He rescued Natalie, and then he saved me.
Lisa: He did what? Did you just say John rescued Natalie first?
Officer: They found hair in the chute and the basement below it.
John: What color?
Officer: Red. It's on its way to the lab, but it looks like you were right.
Marcie: John? John?
Officer: Sorry -- sorry, ma'am, this is a crime scene.
Marcie: No, but, see --
John: It's ok, Jeff. Let her through.
Marcie: Well, I couldn't wait at the station anymore, John. You got to tell me what's going on here.
John: Evangeline just went to the hospital with smoke inhalation. She's going to be ok.
Marcie: Thank God. And what about Natalie? Is Natalie ok?
John: The killer got away with her.
Marcie: All right, well, you know, I'm going to go to the hospital. I'm going to see how Evangeline is, ok?
John: Marcie, wait.
Marcie: John. John, you've got to go to hospital. Look at --
John: No, you've got to listen to me.
Marcie: No, John! Look at your hands!
John: Marcie, listen to me! You're the only one who can tell me where the killer took Natalie.
Dorian: It just might work.
Kevin: Don't pull away, please. I don't want to lose anyone else. Ok? I already lost Ace. I nearly lost Duke and my mother. And now I'm sitting here, possibly about to lose you. And I can't do that. I just -- I can't. Because you're the love of my life.
Kelly: Um -- I don't know what to say.
Kevin: You don't have to say anything, just listen to me. Ok? Because I want to make sure you hear what I have to say. I'm not going to run away anymore. All right? I'm not going to let hurt and anger and regret control the rest of my life. And I'm not going to put what my grandfather wants for me, or my own ambitions, ahead of the people that I love ever again. I just -- I just want to come home to you. Because you are my home.
Kelly: Kevin -- Kevin, we can't. We can't do this.
Viki: I -- I have to go clean up that glass.
Bo: No, no, I'll take care of the vase, Viki. Don't worry about it.
Spencer: Pulse is 60. That's good. You've obviously been taking your medication?
Viki: I'm terribly sorry, I really am all right. I just -- that was stupid. I should have known better than to lean on something so fragile.
Spencer: What you have to realize is how fragile you are right now.
Bo: No, he's right, Viki.
Spencer: Listen, I know you're upset about your daughter.
Viki: I'm upset about both my daughters, ok?
Spencer: Understand that and I know how much you care. You need to concentrate with me for just a minute, all right?
Spencer: We're going to do a simple breathing exercise. It's very effective with heart surgery patients. Just relax. Ok? Just take a deep breath. Breathe with me. Try to find a rhythm.
Spencer: Breathe in. Breathe in, slow it down. Great. Very good.
Bo: Dr. Truman, you never did tell me what you're doing here tonight.
Spencer: I had dinner with Kelly and I dropped her off. I guess I got a little turned around out there looking for my car.
Viki: Well, as far as I'm concerned, your timing couldn't have been better.
John: That page the killer dropped off at your hotel -- you said it came from one of your old journals?
Marcie: Well, it wasn't a journal, really. It was more like a club log that we kept. We each had one. We used it to keep track of our murder scenarios.
John: Got to figure this out. The killer's not copying your book anymore, he's going after people close to me. This is definitely not about your friends from the love project.
Marcie: Well, we both grew up in New Jersey, but that couldn't be it.
John: I don't know. I don't know, but if I could get a look at that journal, maybe we could figure out what this guy is after.
Marcie: Well, I still have mine. It's at my father's house in his attic.
John: You sure?
Marcie: I'm positive. I started looking through it again when we started writing the book.
John: Marcie, listen to me, all right? I know you wanted to see Evangeline, but I got to look at that journal, all right? Can you do that for me?
Marcie: Yeah, I'll do whatever you need me to do, John. I'm not going to let you down. I'll -- I'll go get it right now.
Michael: Oh. Hey, Johnny. Good to see that glum mug of yours.
John: Yeah, thanks.
Michael: Any word on Natalie?
John: We're working on it. How's Evangeline?
Michael: She's doing a lot better. Oh, John, man, that hand is really bad. That needs treatment.
John: It's nothing.
Michael: No, it's not nothing. You can't go back to work with this hand like this.
John: I'm fine, mike.
Michael: You're not fine. It's going to get infected.
John: Forget about the damn hand!
Lisa: Sweetie, relax. You know, darling, whatever problems I had with John, I always believed that he cared for you.
Evangeline: He does.
Lisa: I never thought he would turn his back on you when you needed him the most.
Evangeline: He didn't do that.
Lisa: Darling, your life was on the line and he saved Natalie first?
Evangeline: Yes, he did. But --
Lisa: If that doesn't tell you how john really feels, I don't know what will.
Kelly: Kevin, it's not that I don't have feelings for you, because I do.
Kevin: No, that's ok. It's ok. I -- I understand. I do.
Kelly: No, don't. You don't. Because what's going on with you right now, with -- with Natalie missing and with Duke, you're emotionally --
Kevin: I'm what? I'm what?
Kelly: What you just said to me -- I have waited for you to say those words to me for so long. And they mean so much to me, but I just -- I don't want us to get back together because of -- of Natalie or duke or your mother or any of those reasons. I want it to be because of us.
Kevin: All right, yeah. Ok, you know what? I should go.
Kelly: Please, Kevin -- Kevin, this isn't because of Spencer. I don't want you to think that.
Kevin: Did I say that?
Kelly: What you walked in on -- he was going to kiss me.
Kevin: Yeah. You wanted him to, didn't you?
Spencer: All right, I checked with your cardiologist. We agreed it would be all right for you to have a mild sedative, help you relax, ok?
Viki: Thank you very much, doctor.
Spencer: There we go. That's all right. I just wish there was more I could do, other than to remind you how important it is to stay calm. All right? Follow your doctors' orders. If you start to get worried about your daughter, then just try to remember -- breathe, ok? If you have any trouble at all, if you need help, please, you can -- you can call me.
Viki: Thank you, I appreciate that.
Spencer: You're welcome. I'm sure your daughter would want you to take care of yourself.
Viki: Yeah, I think she would. I think they both would.
Spencer: All right.
Viki: Thanks again.
Spencer: I'm glad I could be here, Mrs. Davidson. Good night, commissioner.
Bo: Yeah, goodbye. Hey, Viki, are you sure you're going to be ok by yourself? Ok, I'll call you as soon as I know anything.
Viki: Please do.
Bo: Viki, you have John's word. He's not going to let anything happen to Natalie, and neither am I.
Viki: Please just find her. Please.
Bo: I will, I will.
Bo: Truman. Hold on just one second, ok?
Spencer: Sure. What can I do for you, commissioner?
Bo: You were really good in there with Viki.
Spencer: Well, it comes with the territory.
Bo: Yeah, I know. You've got great medical skills. What I wonder is whether the rest is real.
David: I'm waving a white flag. Do you forgive me?
Dorian: There's nothing to be forgiven.
David: You're not mad?
David: Why not?
Dorian: Because I never should have pressured you about Spencer. It was insensitive of me.
David: It was?
Dorian: I had no idea that it would be so painful for you to delve into your past. I am so sorry.
David: You are?
Dorian: Besides which, who says we have to discuss everything tonight when we have got our entire lives ahead of us? And I am not looking for a way out. David Vickers, would you please do me the great, great honor of allowing me to become Mrs. David Vickers on august 19?
David: You just picked a date.
Dorian: Yes, and it has to be in august.
Dorian: Because you came back into my life in august two years ago. What do you say?
David: I say we'd better get started. We got a wedding to plan.
Dorian: Oh, David!
David: But first things first. Whoa! Whoa!
Dorian: Oh! Oh!
Kelly: I haven't kept anything from you about Spencer. Our relationship has been totally professional.
Kevin: Until now, you mean. Look, it's obvious what he wants. What about you?
Kelly: I don't know.
Kevin: All right, then. I'll see you.
Kelly: Kevin, wait. Maybe you shouldn't drive.
Kevin: No, hey, I'll be fine. Really. Anyway, like I said, you're right, you know. We wouldn't want to get back together for the wrong reasons.
Dorian: Honey, I'm still chilled. Can we go upstairs?
David: Oh, way to ruin a romantic moment. I'm freezing, too. I'll race you inside.
Dorian: Ok. Uh, but I want to stay down here for just a minute more. I'd like to call the girls and tell them the good news.
David: That's right, I'm about to be a step-dad.
David: And a step-uncle. You know something? You're the most wonderful, sensitive woman in the world.
Dorian: Ooh, I try.
David: All right. See you inside.
Dorian: Oh, darling, could you please get me my bag, please?
Dorian: Thank you.
David: Here you go.
Dorian: Oh, thanks.
David: Don't be long.
Dorian: I won't. Ooh. Ooh. Hi, Angelo. This is Dorian Lord. I need you to get me some information fast on Dr. Spencer Truman. No, no, he's my fiancé’s brother.
Spencer: I assume you're talking about my relationships with David and Paige?
Bo: You weren't upfront about either one of them.
Spencer: Well, did you really want to hear about your girlfriend's previous marriage from her ex-husband? And as far as David is concerned, he didn't want me to tell anybody I was his brother. You want to know why, you'll have to ask him.
Bo: Ok. But how is it that you always just pop up unexpectedly just at the right time, you know? First, there was the hospital, and now tonight right here, Llanfair.
Spencer: I don't know. I am a doctor. I'm lucky to be in the right place at the right time. I'm glad I was here tonight for Mrs. Davidson. Sounds like her kids really need her right now.
Spencer: Well, good night, commissioner.
Bo: Good night.
Viki: Dear God, I'm trying so hard to have faith. But I really think that Jessie and Natalie need more than that right now. You know, Jessie's fighting some sort of demons. I don't know what they are. And Natalie -- she's been taken. Please, please, be with her. Please keep her safe. My Megan. My beautiful Megan. You never even had a chance to know Natalie. She was a lot like you, you know? She had that real fighting spirit, like you. Oh, my God, please, remind her of that now, ok? Keep her safe.
Viki: Ben. Oh, my Ben. We keep beating the odds, you and I, don't we? But I don't think I can be a medical miracle forever. Help me, please, Ben. Help me. Help me be strong through this. I need to know my girls are safe. I need to see them again.
Michael: Still nothing on Natalie, huh?
Michael: Well, I'd better go tell Evangeline. She's pretty worried about her.
John: Hey, let me do it.
Lisa: Baby, you've got to accept this. The man has clearly made up his mind.
Evangeline: Natalie was passing out from the smoke.
Lisa: Darling --
Evangeline: John had to save her first.
Lisa: Are you sure about that? Because it seems to me that, consciously or not, john was following his heart.
>> On the next "One Life to Live" --
Evangeline: You did go back and forth between Natalie and me, and I'm not the only one who saw it.
Kevin: This isn't about me. It's about Kelly.
Spencer: You want her back.
Todd: Now, she is out there somewhere, and she's probably not Jessica. Tess signed herself out.
Man: Where have you been all my life? .
