Evangeline: You okay?
Antonio: All I can think about is if this judge is going to keep my daughter away from me.
Evangeline: You're okay. You look good.
Antonio: Well, you know what? I can't guarantee if I'm going to be able to -- if I'm going to be able to hold it together.
Jessica: And that's why I'm here -- to support you and to remind you what a strong and amazing man you are. Listen; whatever happens today, we're going to get through it together.
Blair: Oops. Thanks.
Todd: Uh-huh. So, I had a chat with the bodyguards.
Todd: I told them we were sick of feeling like we were in the witness protection program, so they're going to back off, let us enjoy our picnic. That okay with you?
Blair: Yeah, I -- um -- I want to tell you something before Dorian and the kids get here.
Todd: Okay, I'm listening.
Blair: If Asa -- if Asa is found by the police and if he uses his power, his money to try and not be charged for what he did to me, then I -- I support your decision.
Todd: I believe my decision was to kill him. Are you -- are you onboard with that?
Blair: I want to do whatever it takes to make sure that we are never in the position to ever be tormented by Asa or anyone. Whatever it takes, whatever the consequences.
Marcie: What are you thinking about? You've been distracted ever since we got here.
Michael: I know too much, I guess. You know, it's weird to know so much about the investigation into Jen’s murder. I don't know how it's going to turn out.
Marcie: Well, why don't you call your brother? You know, maybe there's something new.
Michael: Yeah, I don't know. He's had so much on his plate right now, I'm not sure he'll even take the call.
Marcie: You can try.
Michael: Yeah. Yeah, I guess -- I guess it's worth a try.
Mark: Isn't this fantastic?
Marcie: Mark, I don't get you. It's just -- I don't even know how you can stand to be here right now.
Mark: Look, I already told you -- once he takes the oath of office, everything changes for us.
Marcie: Yeah -- it'll be harder to see him.
Mark: No. We've already figured that out. If he goes straight to the capital, he'll only be in Llanview a few days out of the month. The rest of the time he'll be at the mansion in Harrisburg, and so will I.
Marcie: Mark, look --
Riley: What the hell are you talking about?
Bo: Can you see Colson now? All right, have the other plainclothes keep a real tight perimeter.
John: You sure you got all the exits covered? Listen to me -- I want a man every 10 feet, you understand?
Bo: Here's the Attorney General now. Let's hope it's a go.
Warren: I've re-examined all the evidence. I wish I could say all reasonable doubt has been eliminated in this case. But that rarely happens in our business, does it, Gentlemen?
Bo: It's a warrant for the arrest of Theodore Daniel Colson.
Todd: So, repeat to me what I think you just said.
Blair: I want to see Asa punished.
Todd: Well, because before you thought we should let the police handle it. What changed?
Blair: Well, I realized that, you know, Todd, we may never have had this opportunity -- this opportunity to sit in the sunshine, have a beautiful picnic with our family, watch our children play, and gaze into each other's eyes, all because of Asa. Now, I want him to be punished, I want him to suffer, I want him to hurt the way that he hurt me. You know what? If he comes back to town, if you want me to help you kill him, I'll help you -- or I'll just do it myself.
Nigel: Good afternoon, Mrs. Buchanan. Something amiss?
Renee: Security called from the front gate. Someone was parked across the road all night.
Nigel: And they did nothing about it?
Renee: Nothing to do. It wasn't on Buchanan property.
Nigel: I assume they reported it to the police?
Renee: Yes, they did, but the car was gone, and I'm thinking about calling Bo.
Nigel: I think that would be wise.
Adriana: No, I will not give you my towel! I'm freezing!
Duke: I'm freezing, too, so we're going to have to wrap up together. Come here. Ooh, uh -- ooh, sorry for dripping.
Nigel: That's all right, I'll get it.
Adriana: Oh, God, no, I'll get it. Sorry.
Duke: Yeah, we were out having a little bite to eat at the pool deck, and then it was getting hot, so we decided to jump in.
Renee: Well, I'm glad that somebody had to cool off -- and that somebody is using the pool, now that Asa isn't taking his swims. He was getting so disciplined about it, wasn't he, Nigel, before he -- excuse me.
Adriana: I feel so bad for her.
Nigel: Poor woman. I'm afraid until your grandfather comes home, nothing will ever make her happy again.
Riley: You know, Mark, that's the second time I've heard you talk about you and my dad and what you plan to do when he gets to Harrisburg.
Mark: Well -- um -- I'm interested in politics. You know, I mean, and with your dad as Lieutenant Governor now, I --
Riley: You want him to help you get you a job in the capital?
Mark: Yeah. Something wrong with that?
Riley: I guess not.
Mark: Hey, look, Riley, I -- I'm sorry. You know, I shouldn't be worried about myself right now, and God knows this has been tough for you the past few days -- losing Jen. Hey, I mean, seeing your dad honored like this -- it's got to make you proud, right?
Riley: Yeah, I am proud, but, you know, it doesn't change anything. Nothing that happens here or anywhere is going to bring her back.
Mark: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be --
Riley: Don't worry about it. I'm going to get back to my dad.
Marcie: There is such a thing as trying too hard, Mark.
Mark: Yeah, I know that -- all too well.
Harrison: My sincerest congratulations, Daniel.
Daniel: Thank you, Governor, but I couldn't have done anything without my beautiful wife.
Nora: Oh, no, you were the one that put all that service in at the District Attorney's office. I had nothing to do with it.
Daniel: Well, you know what they say -- behind every great man -- not that I'm great, but it's good to know that I'll always have this beautiful woman at home waiting for me. That's the thing.
Harrison: That's the thing. Listen, I know it's a little early, but, you know, everybody's here. What do you say we start the proceedings?
Daniel: Sounds good to me.
Harrison: Judge, what do you think? Can we start?
Judge: Let's begin.
Harrison: Good. One thing -- we'd like to have the woman behind the man front and center on this. So, Nora, if you would, please hold the bible. All right, let's get this thing going.
Bo: Thank you for this, Mr. Drake.
Warren: Just bring Colson in with as little fanfare as possible.
Bo: Well, hopefully we'll have him cuffed before he even takes the oath.
Warren: I read the files a second time. I got to hand it to you guys. The Llanview PAD. did a diligent and thorough investigation of a distasteful case. Credit to both of you guys.
John: Owe you one, Warren. Thanks.
Warren: But we still have work to do, and we can't embarrass the department. This is to be handled judiciously.
Bo: Yeah, well, you can count on that.
Warren: We'll talk soon.
Bo: Thank you.
Bo: I want to get more men out there.
John: Secure all the City Hall exits.
Bo: Yeah. I want to tighten the ring around the park, too, if anything goes wrong and Colson tries to bolt.
John: Total lock down. Hey, look, you have any interest in cutting Colson some slack and arresting him privately?
Bo: This guy made a mockery out of this department and the D.A.'s office. I mean, he falsified evidence, and then he turned around and murdered an innocent, beautiful, young girl just to keep his secret.
John: Your call, Boss. I'll tell the guys.
Bo: Aw, John, wait a minute. It's just me letting off some steam. You know, there are other people involved in this, and you heard the A.G. -- he doesn't want it to turn into a circus. So we'll give Colson a chance to do it privately. But if he resists or he tries to run --
John: You got it. The ceremony's scheduled to begin in 45 minutes. We're going to have to move fast if we want to get him before the swearing-in.
Bo: All right, let's get cranking.
John: I'm on it.
Rex: We got him, Jen. We got him.
Evangeline: I think the possibility of R.J. being given full custody are slim at best. But there is the possibility of the judge coming up with some sort of a shared arrangement, and we have to be prepared for that.
Antonio: I never minded a shared arrangement. R.J.'s the one who wanted this.
Evangeline: I know.
Antonio: Look, I would never keep Jamie from her grandfather. Hell, I even tried to compromise with him.
Jessica: Listen, listen. The most important thing -- the only important thing in this is Jamie’s happiness, okay? So no matter what happens, we just have to make sure that your daughter knows how much she's loved.
R.J.: Hey. You know, I told you you didn't have to come here.
Lindsay: Are you kidding me? I've been here every step of the way, and I am not about to stop now.
Bailiff: We're about ready to begin, ladies and gentlemen. All rise!
Judge: You may take your seats. The court has reached a decision in the matter of the petition for custody of Jamie Vega.
Starr: Where are the bodyguards? Are they up in the trees?
Dorian: Oh. Well, you know perfectly well they're around here somewhere, Starr. Right, Blair, Todd? We're perfectly safe.
Todd: Yes. But they're going to leave us alone today. It's family day for the Mannings.
Blair: And Aunt Dorian.
Jack: Can we play soccer?
Todd: Yeah, okay, if I can be goalie.
Todd: Hey --
Todd: You want to play?
Starr: No. Actually, I brought my insect-lopedia. I'm going to go look for something. You better not hit me with that soccer ball.
Blair: Well, well, well. Now, isn't this a miracle -- a beautiful day in the park, picnic with my family, and you and Todd are being actually civil to each other, not one snarky word. Amazing!
Dorian: The day is still young. Besides, why waste my energy with mere snarkiness when what I really want to do is wring his filthy neck?
Blair: Could you please just drop it for one day, one picnic?
Dorian: Not when that lowlife has finally succeeded in corrupting you, in dragging you down in the mud with him.
Blair: I don't think you understand what's going on, Dorian.
Dorian: I understand perfectly. Todd has talked you into killing Asa Buchanan, and I'm not going to stand by and see you throw your life away for Todd Manning.
Nigel: Oh, it's a shame, isn't it, that Mrs. Buchanan has to suffer in this way?
Duke: Yeah, especially since we all know my grandfather's totally fine, hiding out somewhere -- I mean, knowing damn well that his wife is worried sick.
Adriana: Don't you think that there's maybe a chance something might've happened to Asa?
Duke: You know, I almost wish something had because then at least that would explain why he's putting us all through this.
Nigel: And as if Mrs. Buchanan doesn't have enough to fret about, there was a car parked outside all night. Security was suspicious about it, but now it's gone apparently.
Duke: You know what? I better go check that out.
Nigel: I suggested Commissioner Buchanan be called in.
Duke: Ah, Nigel, let me see if it's anything first.
Adriana: I'll get dressed while you go check the guards.
Nigel: This house -- it just doesn't seem safe anymore. I don't know why.
Bo: Yeah, deploy the new units as soon as they arrive, and, look, we're on the clock, so get this done ASAP.
Rex: About what? When? Aah!
John: What is it? What's going on?
Rex: I was just on the phone with Marcie! They're starting the swearing-in early!
Bo: All right, let's get rolling.
Daniel: What's wrong?
Nora: I'm very proud of you.
Michael: Hey, I think it's about to start.
Marcie: You know, that was just Rex on the phone.
Michael: Yeah? What did he want?
Marcie: I don't know. I told him that the ceremony was starting early, and then he completely freaked out.
Michael: What'd he say?
Marcie: He hung up on me.
Michael: Maybe it could be that something's about to go down.
Marcie: What? I mean, what could possibly happen at the swearing-in?
Michael: I don't know. I guess we're just going to have to wait and see.
Mark: Hey, guys, it's about to start. Come on.
Marcie: Yeah, okay.
Harrison: Welcome, one and all. I have the honor and good fortune to be Governor of this great state.
Harrison: And I am proud and pleased to witness today the swearing-in of a man who will bring a singular dedication, integrity, and honor to the second-highest position in the government of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In a few moments, the Honorable Judge Ryan Fillmore and I will administer the oath of office to our new Lieutenant Governor, Daniel Colson.
Judge: Cases such as these are never simple, and there's no question that everyone in this room has the very best interests of Jamie Vega at heart. She is loved by all -- her father, her grandfather, and the people in their lives. The question before this bench is, which of these two loving men, in the absence of the child's mother, would be best suited to raise her? My determination in that regard is that there is no clear answer -- not yet. I am not yet convinced that Jamie is better off left with her grandfather or returned to her father. Therefore, I am not prepared to make a final decree in the matter. What is of primary importance is that the child continues to be well cared for, and that she is not made to feel confused during this most confusing time. Also, during this finite period, both Mr. Gannon and Mr. Vega will adjust your actions in a way that best suits the welfare of Jamie. So, it is the will of this court that custody of Jamie Vega remain with her grandfather for the next six months, after which time there will be a reevaluation of the arrangement, and the court will then decide whether Mr. Gannon is given full and permanent custody or the child is returned to her father.
Blair: I'm not plotting anything, Dorian.
Dorian: I heard you say to Todd that you'd help him kill Asa -- or do it yourself.
Blair: No, I -- I was -- I was just venting.
Dorian: Oh, right.
Blair: You really want Asa to get away with what he did to me, huh? Is that what you want?
Dorian: No. What I want is for you to use your head.
Blair: You don't have any idea what I've been put through, Dorian, first by Margaret, and now by Asa Buchanan.
Dorian: Yes, Darling, I do. But I know that you have got to seek professional help to help you work through all this -- this anger and fear.
Blair: I do not need a shrink. What I need and what I want is the satisfaction of seeing someone pay for what they did to me, Dorian. And Margaret’s not in the picture, so Asa Buchanan is the next best thing.
Renee: Ohh. Nigel. Why don't you take the rest of the day off? It's such beautiful weather.
Nigel: Thank you, Mrs. Buchanan. I prefer to keep busy.
Renee: I understand. Where are the kids?
Nigel: Mr. Duke went to check with security to make sure there hasn't been a breach. I told him about the car parked outside. I hope you don't mind.
Renee: Of course not. Duke lives here now. He has a right to know what's going on.
Nigel: Mrs. Buchanan, for what it's worth, I do know your husband loves you with all his heart.
Renee: Not that he still has one.
Nigel: I only wish that Mr. Buchanan would have the decency to at least tell you of his whereabouts.
Renee: You have always been so kind to me, Nigel. Thank you.
Judge: Place your left hand on the bible and raise your right. Repeat after me. I, Daniel Colson --
Daniel: I, Daniel Colson --
Judge: Do solemnly swear to uphold the rights and authorities --
Daniel: Do solemnly swear to uphold --
Nora: Daniel? Are you all right?
Daniel: Yeah. The rights and authorities --
Judge: Of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Daniel: Of the Commonwealth --
Bo: I'm sorry, Your Honor, but I'm afraid that this is going to have to wait.
Adriana: Hey, Duke.
Adriana: There you are.
Duke: Look, you have to go home, okay?
Duke: Listen, I have to take care of something, okay?
Adriana: What -- is it a security thing?
Duke: No, no. Listen, I'm sorry, but I got to go.
Adriana: What, you're leaving? Where are you going?
Duke: It's just a business thing that I have to deal with, but no more questions, okay? Now, please, baby, you got to go.
Adriana: No, I'm not going anywhere without an explanation.
Riley: What's going on?
Bo: I have something to discuss with you, Daniel.
Bo: We can take it inside. I have clearance to use the mayor's office. We can talk in there.
Riley: Talk about what?
Rex: Let Bo do what he has to do.
Riley: Stay out of this.
Bo: I'm giving you the chance to do this privately, Daniel, to avoid a scene.
Daniel: You're really pushing your luck here, Buchanan.
Bo: It's either in the mayor's office or out here, your call.
Harrison: Buchanan, this is beneath you.
Daniel: This is exactly what I was talking to you about, Governor. He's gunning for me. It's a personal vendetta.
Harrison: Clearly, this is not the time or the place to do this. Now, please, step aside and let's finish the ceremony.
Bo: What's it going to be, Colson?
Nora: Just stop it, okay? You're just trying to ruin Daniel's day by stopping the ceremony. Just say what you have to say, before we all start wondering what the hell's gotten into the Commissioner of Police.
Evangeline: Antonio, please. Just sit down. Please forgive that outburst, Your Honor. My client is upset, and he's terribly concerned about his daughter. It won't happen again.
Judge: But it has happened before, Ms. Williamson, and more than a few times. Part of the reason I came to this decision is my belief that Mr. Vega does not have complete control of his emotions. Having said that, the court also believes that Mr. Vega loves his daughter and is committed to changing his life in order to make a more hospitable environment for Jamie. Mr. Gannon, on the other hand, has already arranged his life to suit his granddaughter, and the child is obviously comfortable with him. Your devotion to your daughter is not in question, Mr. Vega. Your ability to provide her with stability is. So for the next six months, the standing visitation arrangement will remain in place, with a further provision that Mr. Vega's visits are now to be supervised.
Evangeline: Antonio --
Judge: And your inability to curb it is something you're going to have to deal with over the next six months, Mr. Vega. Deal with it and put it away -- for good. You're doing a fine job with Jamie, Mr. Gannon, but I have a responsibility to the child. I have to be 100% sure her father isn't the answer before I grant you full custody. This court is adjourned.
Bailiff: All rise.
Lindsay: I'm so happy for you.
Mr. Cabot: Well, it isn't perfect.
R.J.: No, no, but I'll take it.
Mr. Cabot: Yeah, but given Antonio’s flashes of rage today, I think it's a foregone conclusion who will have full custody in six months.
Carlotta: It's not all bad, Antonio.
Jessica: You see, she left the door open. All we have to do is show the judge --
Antonio: No, damn it. No, none of it's right.
Rex: Yo, get down here, Lindsay.
Rex: I'm at City Hall, Colson's swearing-in.
Lindsay: Do you think I care about Daniel Colson and his ridiculous appointment? The man railroaded my daughter. He's responsible, at least partially responsible, for all the things that happened to Jen in the last months of her life.
Rex: He's way more than partially responsible.
Lindsay: What are you saying?
Rex: Look, just get down here fast.
Lindsay: You got a second chance with Jamie. Use it well. I have to go, and I'll call you later.
Duke: Did you follow the car? Okay. Yeah, are you sure that's where they're heading? Okay. No, I'm right behind you. Stall them if you have to, you got it?
Adriana: Duke, what was that about? Follow who? Don't shut me out!
Duke: Listen; you have to trust that something's come up that I cannot talk to you about, okay?
Adriana: It's about Asa, isn't it?
Duke: You know what? Things are crazier than I could have imagined, okay, and if I don't leave right now –
Renee: Where are you taking me?
Man: Just relax, lady. It's going to be a very, very long trip.
Renee: Where are you taking me? Answer me.
Blair: Asa deserves to die for what he did to me and my family.
Dorian: Yes, but not at your hand, Blair. For God's sake, has Todd persuaded you that somehow getting revenge on Asa is going to take away all the pain that you suffered? You know better than that. On some level, you have to know it's just going to damage your life further.
Jack: Guess what -- we found a dead squirrel.
Starr: It is so cool.
Jack: Mama, come look at it.
Blair: I don't think so, Jack.
Jack: Aunt Dorian?
Dorian: I'm going to take a pass, too.
Jack: Come on, Aunt Dorian, please?
Dorian: Oh, how can I resist when you call me "Aunt Dorian"? All right, Jack, for just a minute. Besides which, I've already lost my appetite.
Todd: Yeah, what did I miss? She seems particularly upset at me.
Blair: She overheard us talking about Asa.
Todd: That woman has got ears like a bat.
Blair: You know, I think we need to stop talking about it.
Todd: Yeah, around her, anyway.
Blair: No, I'm serious.
Todd: Do you think he's just going to mosey on home?
Blair: I don't know if Asa will just show up out of the blue, but I'm hoping the police will find him. Then we're going to have to wait and see whether Bo will even prosecute him. That's what's most important.
Evangeline: Okay -- this is far from ideal, but thinking positively, this is an opportunity for you to make some changes in your life, Antonio.
Jessica: Evangeline's right. In six months, we can show the judge that she's wrong about you. Listen, whatever we have to do to make this right, we'll do it.
Carlotta: Absolutely. And I'll help, Antonio.
Antonio: You bribed the judge, didn’t you? Didn't you?
R.J.: Come on. That is a Santi move -- you know, bribe an official with the dirty money. No, no, you see, I didn't have to do any of that. All I had to do was to show them who you are and let it sink in.
Marcie: What's happening?
Nora: What's the matter, Bo? You can't stand to see me happy?
Bo: This isn't about you, Nora. I have business with Daniel.
Nora: You tried to stop me from marrying Daniel.
John: Nora --
Nora: And now you're here trying to smear him, professionally and publicly? You're the only one that's going to look bad in this picture, Bo.
John: It would be in everyone's best interest if we talked to Daniel inside.
Nora: Absolutely not. I will not have Daniel's day ruined because of your petty professional jealousy.
Daniel: It's okay, Nora, it's okay. In the end, it'll all backfire on him.
Nora: So put your hand on the bible. Let's continue taking the oath of office. They can't take that away from you.
Bo: Actually, I can.
Dorian: You'll spoil your dinner. Okay, let's see if I've got that underhand thing going. Ah! Great! Be right back. You know, if I hadn't stopped your daughter, she would have performed an autopsy on that squirrel.
Todd: Maybe she's going to go into forensic medicine.
Dorian: Oh, won't that come in handy in this family?
Todd: Look, I need to go to the office, check on some few things. Okay?
Blair: Well, no, it's not okay. You didn't finish your sandwich, and we promised the kids a day in the park.
Todd: Fun playing soccer and all that. I'll just tell them I'm going in to work and I'll call them later.
Blair: Well, take a sandwich.
Dorian: Oh, stop it.
Todd: Have fun.
Dorian: Yeah. Was it something I said, I hope?
Blair: No, not this time.
Dorian: Pass me my purse, Honey.
Dorian: Thank you.
Dorian: Ah. It's Adriana. Hello, Sweetheart. Is everything all right?
Adriana: No. Duke left town. I don't know why. I think it's about Asa, but I don't know. I'm worried he's going to get hurt.
Dorian: So he just took off without explaining?
Adriana: Well, he was in a hurry.
Dorian: Still, he might have had the decency to fill you in.
Adriana: Mom, don't start.
Dorian: Adriana, if the man doesn't trust you enough to confide in you, there is something wrong.
Adriana: You know what? I call you for support, and all you want to do is badmouth Duke. Thanks, Mom.
Dorian: You are right. I am so sorry. Okay, why don't you tell me what you're worried about, okay? Where is it that you think Duke has gone?
Renee's voice: Hello. This is the Buchanan residence. To leave a message for Asa, press one. For Renee, press two.
[Answering machine beeps]
Antonio: Hey. Wow. That's a pretty dress.
Jamie: Thank you.
Antonio: You know you're Daddy's little girl, right? Yeah, and you always will be. Always. Hey, remember that book that I got you?
Antonio: Yeah? Well, the next time I see you we're going to read every page, every last word, you and me, because you're my world. Okay.
Antonio: You'll always be my world.
R.J.: Oh, come on, Honey. It's time to go home.
Antonio: Go ahead, Princess, okay.
R.J.: Yeah, come on. Here we go. Come on, now.
Daniel: That bible has been in my family for generations. I'd like it back. Thank you.
Bo: You're going to need it. Theodore Daniel Colson, you're under arrest for the murder of Jennifer Rappaport.
>> On the next "One Life to Live" --
Antonio: Can you get my daughter back?
Clerk: Will you be staying in Llanview long?
Bo: I also have an indictment against you for the murder of Paul Cramer.
Nora: What possible reason did Daniel have to kill Paul Cramer?
