Kelly: I have to warn you, I'm kind of losing my mind.
Viki: Oh, dear. That wouldn't have anything to do with David, would it?
Kelly: Oh, God. I have never, never in my entire life dealt with anyone so childish and entitled and self-absorbed, and those are his good qualities!
David: Hello. My ears were burning in the hallway. Were you whispering sweet nothings about me? Well, don't be shy. What, in your individual opinions, is something that separates me from the herd?
Waiter: I'll be right back with your bottled water, Governor.
Harrison: Thank you, Brett. What the -- Dorian?
Dorian: Please forgive me, but bottled water? Oh, Governor, you might want to rethink that. How about some good, old-fashioned Pennsylvania tap? You don't want to send out the wrong message to your constituents.
Harrison: And what message would you be sending, Dorian?
Dorian: Invite me to share a bottle of your designer h2o, and I'll tell you.
Natalie: Oh, hey. How was meeting Evangeline's parents?
John: What is the holdup? Look, I asked for a simple lab report to be written up and waiting for me by the time I got back! Look, if this is too big a request for you, why don you find a job elsewhere!
Rex: Johnny is not in a good mood.
Natalie: No. Which makes me wonder what kind of mood Evangeline's in.
Antonio: Hey. You're back.
Evangeline: Yeah, I got back last night, you know? A little sleep-deprived, so I thought I'd come in here for a cup of coffee. Charge up for the day.
Antonio: Coming right up.
Antonio: How'd it go?
Evangeline: Funerals and weddings -- you know the old cliché about them bringing out the worst in people?
Evangeline: Believe it. Thank you. Anyway, your custody hearing -- I was thinking about possible character witnesses for you.
Antonio: You know, I talked to Viki Davidson a couple days ago. She's onboard for sure.
Evangeline: Good. We'll definitely call her, and I was thinking about putting you on the stand. Send a good message to the judge that you're not in any way intimidated by cross-examination.
Antonio: Fine with me.
Evangeline: And then there's Jessica, of course.
Antonio: You know, I was worried about her, but she's doing great now. There isn't anyone I trust more.
Tess: Finally. Where have you been?
Ginger: Hey, I have a life, too, you know.
Tess: Yes, you do, but I told you yesterday that I --
Ginger: Yes, I know -- today is the big day. I know. I know.
Tess: Today is the day that I have with Antonio's kid. This is how I'm going to get him, remember? This is how I'm going to destroy him, Ginger.
Ginger: So what does this have to do with me?
Tess: Ginger, I need your help with this, ok?
Ginger: No way. I want nothing to do with this.
Daniel: It was a total screw up. Yes, yes, I know. I know you worry about me. And how am I going to prove that Jen killed Paul? Watch me.
Nora: Daniel, who are you talking to?
Rex: Look at them running around like a bunch of scared rabbits. Your boy is definitely not happy.
Natalie: He's not my boy.
Natalie: But he did come in a little late today, which he never does. And he completely ignored me, which is fairly awesome.
Rex: What, that he ignored you? What am I missing?
Natalie: An X chromosome, which makes a girl a girl. That way she can figure out what people do, why they act the way they act. Don't steal anything. I'll be right back.
[Knock on door]
Natalie: I have those printouts for you, the background on the L.U. Students.
Natalie: You know, that's not like you.
Natalie: Yelling at people, like you did out there, for no reason. You have all the updated files you could possibly need at your desk, your task force has been working overtime on "The Killing Club" murders, and -- my guess is that you're angry about something other than work. Am I right?
Evangeline: So I take it things have changed between you and Jess since the last time we talked. You guys back together?
Antonio: I guess you could say that.
Evangeline: That's great, Antonio. I'm really happy for you.
Antonio: Thank you.
Evangeline: And it doesn't hurt our case either. You know, the more stable your relationship with Jessica, the more stable you appear in front of the court, so -- mainly, though, I'm just happy that you guys found each other.
Antonio: Yeah, me, too.
Evangeline: Oh, well. Oh, God, coffee break's over. I have to go meet Nora.
Antonio: You ok?
Evangeline: Yeah, I just -- I guess I could just use a good night's sleep, that's all.
Antonio: Yeah, funerals will do that to you. Anything else?
Evangeline: No, no, no. Everything's fine, actually. Oh, God, Antonio. No, everything went wrong. Everything went terribly wrong. I mean, in fact, it could not have gone any worse.
Lindsay: R.J., Hey, it's me. I am at the diner. I am sitting behind Antonio, who is talking to his lawyer. I haven't heard anything useful yet, but they're still yakking away. So, listen, if you check your voicemail, don't meet me here. Ok? Can I help you?
Carlotta: We need to talk, Lindsay, mother to mother.
Daniel: Just -- just someone at the office. Yeah, I'll -- I'll call you when I know something more, ok? All right. I -- I guess I'm going to have to get used to someone walking in while I'm on the phone.
Daniel: Nora, I make dozens of phone calls during the course of a day. Do I need to explain to you each and every one of them?
Nora: Of course not, and I'm sorry if I upset you. It's just I don't understand your attitude. You turned your back on me and walked out of the squad room yesterday just because I questioned you about Jen Rappaport.
Daniel: No, let's just forget about it, ok?
Nora: No, I really need to know. Why are you so committed to getting Jen arrested?
Daniel: Why is it that all I get from you is disapproval?
Nora: Oh, now, that's not true.
Daniel: No, disapproval of what I believe, disapproval of what I'm fighting for --
Nora: Fighting for? Fighting, what, to get a girl arrested for something that you're not even sure she did?
Daniel: I believe it. My son believes it.
Nora: Because you're his father! Ugh -- are we never going to be able to have a difference of opinion without it turning into some sort of fight?
Daniel: Apparently not.
Carlotta: Do you love your daughter, Lindsay?
Lindsay: What kind of question is that?
Carlotta: I know that you do, with all your heart and soul. Well, I love my son just the same, just as much. All Antonio wants to do is raise his child. You and I had the chance to raise our children. Now, why should he be denied that chance with his Jamie?
Evangeline: They said some things they shouldn't have said, and the ride home with John was -- well, really quiet.
Antonio: Why don't you get some rest? I'm sure it'll work itself out.
Evangeline: Thanks. Guess I should stop inflicting my personal life on you, and I'll just -- I'll call you later for a meeting.
Antonio: Sounds good.
Evangeline: Thanks for the coffee.
R.J.: Well, witness the fall of the mighty. Tell me, are you renting out space here at the local greasy spoon?
Evangeline: R.J., if you even think about harassing my client, you will regret it.
Lindsay: Don't you ever check your voicemail?
R.J.: What's the news?
Lindsay: I'll tell you in the car.
R.J.: Antonio, please. Your attorney just begged me to leave you alone.
Antonio: So when do you ever listen to what my attorney has to say? But, you are going to listen to me.
Tess: Guess we're not friends after all.
Ginger: Oh, we are. I like you, Tess. You're fun. And I am so grateful that you saved me in that parking lot. But what you said the other day about Antonio's daughter -- that you wanted to hurt him through her -- I mean, through his daughter? That's just completely wrong to me.
Tess: Ginger, I would never hurt a little girl, ok? Give me a break. It's just the easiest way to get to him, ok? Get it?
Ginger: No, I don't get it. And I also don't get why you have it in for him in the first place. I mean, what's the story, Tess? What did Antonio do you to you?
Tess: It's not about me, Ginger. It's about how he treats Jessica, ok? He's not one of the good guys. Trust me on this.
Ginger: You keep saying that, but you don't give me any real reasons. I mean, why do you hate this guy so much? Unless maybe you're upset because you like him and he doesn't like you back. Is that it?
Viki: Get off my desk, David.
Kelly: You followed me here.
David: Follow you? Why would I stoop to such --
Kelly: You would. You would stoop. Stooping is your specialty.
Viki: Get off the desk, David.
Kelly: You are a selfish, bratty child, and you're making me insane. But, that's your intention, isn't it?
David: Am I allowed to speak here?
David: Desk. Look, Kelly, I overheard your conversation on the phone requesting some time with president Davidson here. So, since I've exhausted all of the chick lit in the carriage house, and I did my daily pull-ups on your shower bar -- incidentally, I'm up to 11, if anyone's keeping track.
David: So I figured, why not? I'd tag along, get myself back in the loop.
Kelly: What loop? I wanted to talk to Viki. It has nothing to do with you. Please, David, just go home. I take that back. Go anywhere but home.
David: I get it. I can read between those lines. So, I'll see you back at the carriage house. Oh, by the way -- we're out of peanut butter, bacon, and cotton balls.
Viki: Just take a deep breath.
Kelly: I'm going to kill him. I'm going to kill him. And I'm going to divorce my aunt, but the problem is, is that killing David will land me in jail, and you just can't divorce your family.
Viki: You could start a trend.
Kelly: Well, thanks for trying to make me feel better. Listen, the reason I'm here is I'm looking for a job.
Viki: Why? You have a job.
Kelly: I resigned from Llanview University.
Kelly: Because out of protest. I'm not going to work for people who are stupid enough to let you go. They should've fought for you.
Viki: Oh, Kelly, Kelly.
Kelly: And I also know who's behind those ridiculous accusations. It was the least I could do.
Harrison: Dorian, I don't have time for games.
Dorian: Oh, dear. I'm not playing games.
Dorian: I can assure you. I am deeply concerned, though, about your lieutenant governor, Kevin Buchanan. You see, his mother is a very dear, special friend of mine -- Victoria Davidson -- and she just lost her job as the president of Llanview University over this scandal -- you know, with the --
Harrison: I heard about it, yeah.
Dorian: Ok. But, Kevin has been involved in far worse. Really. I mean, he diminishes your entire administration, and yet he holds on to his job. What's going on there?
Harrison: Well, it turns out -- and it pains me greatly to say this -- but my lieutenant governor appears to be more a man of the people than I anticipated.
Dorian: Oh. Well, that shouldn't be too big a problem for a man as powerful as you are to handle.
Harrison: Well, thank you, but, Dorian, this one is not going to be easy to finesse.
Dorian: What if I made it worth your while?
Harrison: What are you suggesting?
John: I'm just tired. Did a lot of driving last night, got in late. And now I got all this work to do, all right? So, if you don't mind, can we just drop this?
John: Wait. Look, I'm sorry I went off on you like that.
Natalie: It's ok. It's just you seem mad, or -- actually, you seem sad.
John: Must've been something I ate. Did you get the final forensics report on Hudson Prescott?
Natalie: I had it. I don't have it now. I can call the lab and see if they -- if they know what's going on.
John: That'd be great. Thank you.
Rex: So, how'd everything go in there?
Daniel: Rex. I didn't know you worked here now. Because if you don't --
Rex: I'm hanging out with my sister. Is there a law against that?
Natalie: What can I do for you, Mr. Colson?
Daniel: You can tell me where the hell your uncle is.
Natalie: Well, as I told you on the phone before, commissioner Buchanan is away on business, and I'm sorry I can't be more specific.
Daniel: Well, when you hear from him, tell him to give me a call in the D.A.'s office. Remind him he works for me.
Rex: Now I know where Riley gets his charm.
Natalie: I got a lot of work to do, so --
Rex: And you, Natty, get a gold star. I came by to make sure you didn't blab about Bo's secret mission, and it turns out you instinctively did the right thing and kept your mouth shut.
Natalie: Unlike you, who blabbed it to everyone, including Colson. You know, I don't understand why Colson's going after Jen. Makes me feel sorry for her.
Rex: You should. She's been through it.
Natalie: What I really don't understand is why Nora would ever marry that creep in the first place. He so does not deserve her.
Nora: Don't do it, Nora. Star 69.
Automated voice: We're sorry, the number requested is unavailable.
Antonio: You obviously overheard my attorney say something to me and wasted no time calling R.J. to tell him about it. You two are waiting around hoping that I'm going to slip up somehow.
Lindsay: I don't think that's going to be a long wait.
Antonio: Do you realize you're trying to discredit the people who only want what's best for Jamie?
R.J.: What's best for Jamie is the life I can provide for her and have been providing for her while you've been off who knows where. Now, who would take Jamie from a stable situation and give her to a Santi?
Antonio: And you have no skeletons in your closet, right, R.J.?
R.J.: But it's in your blood. It's in your genes. You can't get it out of your head. And if you think that you're going to pass this on-again, off-again girlfriend off as the woman that's going to raise my grandchild, you can think again.
Antonio: What was I thinking even trying to have a civil conversation with you?
R.J.: You are the reason her mother took her own life. Now, if you think that I'm going to let you just raise her -- no, I will not let you spend one moment more with Jamie than I'm bound to by law.
Tess: I don't have a thing for Antonio, ok? Of course not, of course I don't. It's about how he treats Jessica. He's controlling, he's bossy, he thinks he has all of the answers.
Ginger: So? That's not your problem, that's hers.
Tess: You know what? You're right. You're totally right, Ginger. I don't know why I am taking this so personally at all. It's really -- it's Jessica's problem, it's not mine. You're right. I mean, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I put you in the middle of this.
Ginger: Don't worry about it.
Tess: You know, Ginger, when I said that I needed your help, I just -- you know, I just need somebody to talk to. I just need some support, somebody to vent to.
Ginger: Well, you can vent all you want. I just -- I think you're driving yourself a little crazy over this Antonio thing.
Tess: Crazy? Yeah, you're right. I guess I do get a little close to the edge sometimes, but I always know when to pull myself back. I promise you, from now on I'm going to mellow out a little bit, ok? And thanks for your help.
Viki: Kelly, I am touched beyond words that you would resign in protest over what happened, but, you know --
Kelly: You were the pulse of the university, Viki.
Viki: But you should not have had to give up something that you enjoy.
Kelly: I don't want to be there if you're not.
Viki: Means a lot to me. Thank you.
Kelly: Well, I wish I could do more. I wish I could turn Dorian into a moral, honest person, but I think we both know that's not going to happen.
Harrison: Has there been a change of status since our last encounter? I mean, you and your fiancé?
Dorian: No longer together.
Harrison: Really? Oh. Would it be rude if I asked the cause?
Dorian: To perfectly truthful --
Dorian: David was terribly jealous of you.
Dorian: Oh, yes. After all, you are the governor, you're very handsome --
Harrison: Thank you.
Dorian: Cultured, intelligent. Why wouldn't David be jealous? And there is no better way to get revenge on your lover than to make him very, very jealous.
David: And which lover would that be, Dorian? There have been so many.
Evangeline: Ok, here we are.
Nora: Thank you. Ok --
Evangeline: Thank you.
Nora: As the man said to the horse when it walked into the bar, "why the long face?"
Evangeline: It's been a very long couple of days, which I do not want to discuss. All I want is for you to just take a deep breath, get comfortable, and start talking, lady. I want every single detail about your honeymoon. Oh, no, Nora. Don't tell me it wasn't perfect?
Nora: Well, it was -- I mean, sometimes. Other times it's like Daniel shut down. This wall went up between us.
Evangeline: Oh, Nora.
Nora: And then just as suddenly, the wall would come down and we'd reconnect, and then he'd be great -- kind, loving, sweet.
Evangeline: How is it between you two now?
Nora: The moment we got on the plane to come home, everything changed.
Evangeline: In what way?
Nora: When you marry someone, you're supposed to know who they are. And I don't, Evangeline, not at all.
Paul: Oh, are those for me?
Daniel: What the hell are you doing here?
Waiter: What am I doing? I'm serving dessert.
Daniel: Right, yeah. I, uh -- sorry.
Evangeline: I'm sorry, Nora.
Nora: It's just really nice to have someone to talk to about it. You're a really terrific friend. Thank you.
Evangeline: So, what are you going to do? What are you going to do now?
Nora: Well, I married Daniel for better or worse, but because I love him and I believe in him. So, I'm going to do whatever it takes.
Daniel: Nora. You deserve a hell of a lot more than I've been giving you. I -- I let work come between us and -- not to mention my temper and -- look, this Paul Cramer case has got me going crazy. I know that's no excuse, but I'm going to try hard to do the best I can to deal with it. Sounds kind of lame, doesn't it? I love you.
Natalie: You know, I really hope uncle Bo gets the information he needs on the Cramer case, wherever he is.
Rex: Oh, we'll get the answers some time.
Natalie: "We"? Rex, you're not on the payroll.
Rex: True, but I am essential to the investigation and I have Bo's approval on it.
Natalie: Look at you, all drunk with power.
Rex: Hey, at least I'm not walking around barking orders at people like your friend Mc Bain. Did you find out why he's in such a lousy mood?
Natalie: No, but I imagine he didn't have such a swell time with Evangeline's family.
Rex: Oh, and that just breaks your heart, doesn't it?
Rex: Yeah. He wants you real bad.
Evangeline: Well, these are some pretty flowers Daniel got you. Are they working? You feel any better about things?
Nora: Enough about me. What's going on with you and John?
Evangeline: If you had asked me that a couple days ago, Nora, you wouldn't have been able to shut me up. I would've just been raving, "oh, he's so wonderful, he's so great, he's so perfect."
Nora: And today?
Evangeline: Well, like you said, things change. You know my -- my great aunt passed away. I told you.
Nora: Yeah, I know. I'm sorry. You went home for the funeral.
Evangeline: Yeah, and John offered to come home with me.
Nora: Well, that's a good sign.
Evangeline: But when we got there, my family -- well, I should say one or two of them -- they didn't exactly welcome him with open arms.
Nora: Oh, sweetie, you know what? That happens. You know, when you make the transition from single to couple, sometimes it -- the family needs time to adjust.
Evangeline: See, it's not just about adjusting, Nora. There's something about introducing your man to your mother. Makes you have to face some things that you might not want to.
Nora: Have you and John talked about this since?
Evangeline: We haven't really talked at all about anything. He was pretty silent on the ride home, and then when we got home last night we went to our own apartments, and we haven't spoken since.
Nora: Not once?
Evangeline: You know, with John lately, it's up and down every day. You know, one day we totally connect. And then the next day -- I don't know, it's like we're going in different directions, you know?
Evangeline: Of course you know, so maybe you can tell me -- is it us or is it them?
Nora and Evangeline: Them.
Evangeline: It's them.
Harrison: No sound, save the crunching of stale bread sticks. Ok, that's it.
Dorian: Harrison, where are you going?
Harrison: It's obvious you two need to be alone.
Dorian: Oh, but, governor --
Harrison: Tell you what -- when you finalize your proposal, you have my number. Have a nice day. Come on.
Dorian: David, what are you doing here?
David: Times have been tough lately? I see you've invested in some elegant costume jewelry. I just thought you might want to know that I overheard Kelly on the phone. It seems she's been calling around town making amends for you, which kind of perked me up.
Dorian: What are you talking about?
David: Oh, I think you know what I'm talking about. Your rotten behavior -- which used to kind of stack my deck but now kind of bores me -- has spurred Kelly on to resign from Llanview University in protest and support of Viki. And from what I could understand from the phone call, it seems that she's asked Viki for a job.
Dorian: No, not again.
David: Oh, I'm -- I'm afraid so. You see, everything's falling apart. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Your girls, one by one, are starting to turn on you.
Dorian: That's ridiculous. Cassie, Kelly, Blair, Adriana -- they all love me. And so do you, underneath this ridiculous facade.
David: You can love someone and at the same time not like them very much. And as far as this governor thing making me jealous? It didn't work.
Carlotta: Don't you dare speak to my son that way!
Antonio: Mami, it's ok.
Carlotta: You have no right!
R.J.: Come on, Lindsay, let's go. I'll see you all in court.
Nora: Do you want some advice?
Evangeline: Do I have a choice?
Nora: You're going to get it anyway, so -- you need to get this out in the open. You got to shine a light on it. Just because john can't talk about things doesn't mean you can't. It's really important that you keep talking.
Evangeline: Is that me?
Evangeline: Oh, it is me. I'm sorry. I thought I turned this phone off.
Nora: No, it's fine. Answer it.
Evangeline: I don't even recognize the number. Hello?
Carlotta: Hi, Evangeline, it's Carlotta. I just thought you should know there was a scene here at the diner -- R.J. and Antonio.
Evangeline: Oh, I should've seen that coming.
Carlotta: You need to talk to Antonio, please. He's still here at the diner.
Evangeline: I'll be there as soon as I can and thanks, Carlotta. Nora, I'm sorry.
Nora: No. Go.
Evangeline: This is just rude.
Nora: Just go do what you need to do.
Evangeline: And I hope these are a good first step for you and Daniel.
Nora: I'm sure they will be. Love you.
Evangeline: Love you and thank you.
Nora: Sure. Thank you.
Viki: And with your experience, we're not going to have any trouble finding you a job at "The Banner."
Kelly: Oh, thank you so much.
Dorian: So, it's not enough that you have to live on this woman's property, but you also have to work for her?
Kelly: Well, I would work for you, Dorian, but you're not employed.
Dorian: Thanks to Viki. Where is your loyalty? You resign your position at the university in support of Viki, against the University. I would find it heartwarming if it didn't make me so sick to my stomach.
Kelly: Ok, well, on that note, I think I'm going to go. I'll appreciate anything you do.
Dorian: Well, I guess you're thrilled.
Viki: Did you come to recant or confess? Never mind, I'm not interested.
Dorian: Well, since you are once again a newspaperwoman, I would expect you must be interested that our governor has a new woman in his life.
Viki: A new woman? Ok. Who is it?
Dorian: You are looking at her.
[Knock on door]
John: Come in.
Natalie: Hey, I got forensics to cough up that information on Hudson's death.
John: You seem to be able to get things faster around here than anyone else.
Natalie: I guess I know how to ask. Anyway, I was thinking about running out for lunch with Rex. Do you need me?
John: I'm ok, thanks.
Natalie: No, you're not ok. If you need me, call me.
Dorian: So you find it amusing. Frankly, so do I -- to have not just one but two men fighting over my affections.
Viki: Dorian, come on. The only reason you would trump up a fling with the governor is to make David jealous.
Dorian: Not one, but two.
Viki: Really? Well, now, it seems to me one man walked out on you, so you picked another one as the ridiculous means to an end.
Dorian: Oh, I don't think there's anything ridiculous about my having a relationship with our governor. No, no, no. Harrison and I have a great deal of, shall we say, chemistry?
Viki: Do you, now? Well, I found him deceitful and unethical, which is of course the reason I told him to take a hike. Actually, I was a little more polite than that.
Dorian: I don't believe you.
Viki: Dorian, you don't want Harrison Brooks. He's a creep! Go home, make it up with David.
David: I surrender, Kelly. I have no fight left in me. Behold my sword. I relinquish it to you. Take it. Take it.
Kelly: Oh, for heaven's sake.
David: This war is over for me. I get kicked out of Viki's office, I get read the riot act, and then I have to bear witness to my fiancée hitting on the governor just to make me jealous. And not only that, on top of all of that, I have to negotiate with the help just to get waited on in this restaurant. Apparently, there's a "wanted" poster in the kitchen with my picture on it, thanks to Renee.
Kelly: You know, David, you love Dorian. You miss her. You might want to make things right with her before you lose her forever. Here's your sword.
Tess: Hey, Antonio, honey, how are you? Well, I'm all set. I'm all ready to pick up Jamie, so I'll see you soon, ok? Love you. Sure hope that little brat doesn't get in the way of my plans.
Antonio: I'm sorry you had to see that again. Hopefully, it'll be over soon.
Carlotta: Antonio, I pray every day that you -- things will get easier. I know how much you love your little girl.
Evangeline: What happened?
Carlotta: I called her, Mijo. She needs to know what R.J. said to you.
Evangeline: Tell me what happened, Antonio.
Antonio: I approached R.J., thinking I could talk some sense into him. It was a big waste of time.
Evangeline: Yeah, I guess it was.
Antonio: Look, Evangeline, getting custody of my daughter -- that's all that matters to me.
Carlotta: And you will, Antonio. Jamie belongs with you, and the judge is going to see that. You'll see.
Evangeline: Let's just go back to my office. We'll fix this, ok?
Antonio: What's happening?
Natalie: Not much. Hey, how was the funeral?
Evangeline: It was a funeral.
Evangeline: Excuse us. Rex.
Natalie: That makes two unhappy people.
Waiter: Oh, excuse me. You forgot these.
Nora: No, actually, I didn't.
Paul: Miss me, Ted? Don't worry. I'm not going anywhere.
>> On the next "One Life to Live" --
Marcie: I can feel it in my gut. There are more murders left to go.
Michael: He's with Evangeline.
Natalie: For now.
John: I won't hurt you.
Evangeline: Are you planning on hurting me?
Antonio: I trust Jess.
Tess: Where do you keep the dirt on Antonio?
Daniel: I won't have you ruin everything I've worked for.
