Paige: Ooh. Digital enhancement -- that sounds intriguing.

Bo: I meant --

Nora: What did you say?

Daniel: I said, will you marry me? No, wait, let me do this the right way. Nora Buchanan, will you do me the great honor of becoming my wife?

Jen: Check out your dad.

Nora: Ok, Daniel, you have to stand up now.

Daniel: No, no, no --

Nora: Everyone's staring. Get up.

Daniel: I'm not getting off this floor until you give me an answer.

Lindsay: I was home trying to ignore the fact that it's new year's eve, and it turned 11:30, and I said to myself, "gosh, aren't you pathetic?"

Nora: Uh, nothing to see here, folks. Nothing at all. Move along, move along.

Daniel: Say yes, Nora. Marry me.

Nora: I canít. I'm sorry.

Duke: Am I glad we made it on time. Adriana, I've thought about this every day since you kissed me at the airport.

Adriana: I'll -- I'll be right back.

Kevin: Everything all right?

Duke: Later, dad.

Cristian: I'll never forget this. Our first married new year.

John: We actually made it.

Kelly: Oh, well, I was with Kevin. Hey, John.

Evangeline: Wait, wait, back up. You were with Kevin?

Kelly: Mm-hmm. Oh, it's new year's, you know. Time for a fresh start.

John: Wasn't he supposed to make some kind of speech or something?

Kelly: Oh, yeah, he will. He'll be here. He's just running a little late.

Viki: Your song was absolutely beautiful.

Blair: I just hope Todd heard it, wherever he is.

Todd: No, no.

Dr. Bricker: Mr. Dawson, you need to relax. You're going to pull out your I.V.

Todd: Don't -- don't -- what are you --

Dr. Bricker: What has got you so upset?

Kevin: What's going on here?

Viki: Kevin. Happy new year.

Kevin: The crew told me that they broadcasted you singing during my airtime.

Blair: You weren't here, Kevin. The network had all that dead airtime. They couldn't use it, so --

Kevin: That doesn't give you the right --

Viki: Honey, don't make a scene. Please, please.

Kevin: You're unbelievable, Blair. You send Kelly over to distract me so that you can sing to Todd, who has completely ruined your life? I mean, are you nuts or are you just pathetic?

Dr. Bricker: Mr. Dawson, you're in no condition to get out of bed.

Todd: I have to --

Dr. Bricker: You will hurt yourself.

Todd: I have to get back to my wife.

Dr. Bricker: Back to who?

Todd: My wife. My real --

Dr. Bricker: What are you trying to tell me? Your wife? What about your wife?

Todd: I miss my wife.

Margaret: I'm right here, darling. I'm not going anywhere, ever.

Bo: Don't go anywhere.

Nora: I didn't say that.

Nora: I -- Daniel, I wasn't expecting this tonight. I -- please don't take this the wrong way.

Daniel: No, I don't get it, Nora. I mean, I thought our relationship got to a new place in the last couple of weeks.

Nora: No, it has.

Daniel: Well, so?

Nora: But, Daniel, now you're talking marriage, not some weekend at a b & b somewhere. I -- I'm not saying no. I'm just -- I'm saying maybe, you know, possibly. Probably. I don't -- I just -- I need some time. I need some air.

Daniel: I'll go with you.

Nora: No, no, no. Please, just stay right here. I'll call you. I will. I'll call you in the morning.

Riley: You ok?

Lindsay: What was that all about?

R.J.: Well, neither of us has anyone special to kiss, so I figured --

Rex: Well, that was quite a liplock.

R.J.: Wait a minute. It's one of the busiest nights of the year. Why are you here and not at Ultra Violet?

Rex: It's under control. I need to talk to you alone.

Lindsay: Uh, it's ok.

R.J.: Watch yourself.

Lindsay: What's going on?

Rex: I'm leaving town.

Lindsay: When?

Rex: Tonight. I wanted to say goodbye.

Natalie: Uh-oh, uh-oh, my scarf. Oh, my gosh. I think I left it at the palace.

Cristian: Don't worry about it. We'll get it tomorrow.

Natalie: No, somebody might take it. Mom gave it to me for my birthday.

Cristian: Ok. Ok, fine, I'll get it. What does it look like?

Natalie: The one I was wearing earlier -- you know, brown, autumn leaves.

Cristian: Oh, ok, right. Be right back.

Natalie: Thanks.

Man: Scream and you're dead.

Man: I'm going to take my hand off your mouth. You say a word and I'll shoot. We clear? Show me your wallet.

Natalie: Here, take the whole purse.

Man: Give me your necklace. Put your hands down.

Natalie: Oh!

Man: The ring. Give me the ring.

Natalie: No, it's my wedding ring.

Cristian: Hey, get away from my wife!

Man: Whoa, whoa. Good timing. Let's hope the man of the house has all the cash on him. Right?

Second man: Looky, looky here. Looks like it's going to be a happy new year after all.

Adriana: Hey. I'm sorry.

Duke: No, it's me who should apologize. It's just that --

adriana: No, I know. I liked it, too.

Duke: Is that why you went running to the only place I couldn't follow you?

Adriana: I got nervous. How stupid is that? I mean, how many times has this almost happened in the last few weeks?

Duke: It's ok.

Adriana: There's -- there's something I should tell you.

Duke: You already told me about River and Shannon McBain.

Adriana: No, there's more. And I hope when you find out, you're not the one running for the door.

Evangeline: Why don't you guys sit down? I'll go get us another round of drinks.

John: No, no, don't be crazy. I'll go.

Evangeline: No, don't be ridiculous. It's the 21st century. I'm buying. Besides, I see a client I want to talk to.

John: Wait a minute, wait a minute. No working.

Evangeline: I promise --

John: All right.

Evangeline: No working. I promise.

Kelly: So, I know you're not working tonight, but is there anything new with my brother's case?

John: Nothing personal, but to be honest, Paul is the last guy I want to talk about tonight.

Kelly: Yeah. I -- I know you hate him for what he did to Natalie, and I didn't like him much, either, but he was my brother.

John: Just because he's gone, you can't forget about what kind of person he was.

Kelly: I know. I guess I've just been thinking a lot about family, you know. I mean, not just Paul, but Ace and Kevin and -- if I had known then what I knew now, things would be a lot different. Anyway, no one deserves to be murdered.

John: Well, I'll take the fifth on that one.

Blair: You're really paranoid, Kevin, not to mention insulting.

Kevin: So you didn't send Kelly over, huh, so you could sing Todd back into your life? Jeez.

Blair: No, I didn't, and if Kelly was with you, she must have had her own reasons.

Kevin: So she faked being hurt so she could take me on a long trip down memory lane, is that it? I don't think so. It's unbelievable. I cannot believe that I fell for "how things used to be" garbage.

Viki: Oh, hang on. Kevin, Kevin, please let me -- Kevin! Please, listen to me. You were not here, darling, ok, so when you didn't show up, I suggested to Renee that Blair use the airtime to try to reach out to Todd. Because, believe me, if anyone is sitting alone tonight watching television, it's Todd. And frankly, I hope to god she got through to him.

Kevin: Look, if you're trying to get Kelly off the hook --

Viki: Did you ever think maybe Kelly was there because she just needed you? Maybe she missed you, the man she married.

Kevin: After everything Kelly and I have been through, nobody is that kind of a masochist, all right, mom?

Blair: It's not that simple, Kevin. Somebody breaks your heart, they walk out on you. You know what? It's -- it's New Yearís Eve, and, ok, you know, that year's gone. It's time to have a clean slate and start over. But no matter how much that person hurts you, you still want their love back in your life. And no matter what you do, you can't help it. You just miss them.

Margaret: After everything I have done for you, after I cut those bullets out of your legs --

Todd: You shot me.

Margaret: And I nursed you back to health. And you begged me to bring you to a hospital, and I did! And still, you try to betray me.

Todd: Just don't -- just don't do anything, Margaret.

Margaret: I am trying to be very good, but you are making it very, very difficult. I swear, the next time I see Blair --

Todd: No, no, no. It was just that song. That song. It won't happen again.

Margaret: I am so upset right now, I can't even look at you!

Dr. Bricker: Feeling better? You need your sleep, Jack, so we're just going to up your sedation a little bit.

Todd: No, please --

Dr. Bricker: I know. You want to go home. This is not the place to be on New Yearís Eve. But it'll all look better in the morning. Don't fight it, son. It's for your own good.

Lindsay: I don't know what to say.

Rex: There's nothing to say. My new year's resolution is to get the hell out of here. And since you're one of the only people around here I'm actually going to miss, I didn't just want to ride off into the sunset, you know?

R.J.: Tell me I did not hear what I just heard. Rex Balsom is quitting on me and Ultra Violet?

Rex: You heard right. I'm out of here.

R.J.: Well, Lindsay, looks like another one of your tormentors is history. Sounds like cause to celebrate.

Lindsay: Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. Come here. You keep in touch with me, ok?

Rex: Mm-hmm.

Jen: Why are you leaving?

Riley: What you thinking about?

Daniel: I'm thinking about how good a scotch would be right now.

Riley: Dad, I don't --

Daniel: No, that's ok, riley. I'm not going to have a drink. You know, this time last year, I would have been at the bottom of a bottle. But I'm not going to make the same mistake with Nora that I made with your mother.

Riley: I'm glad to hear it.

Daniel: Yeah. I have to if I want a shot with her.

Riley: Well, for the record, dad, I hope she says yes.

Daniel: She will.

Paige: Uh, you know, I -- I wasn't snooping. I was -- I was looking for some scissors for the --

Bo: It's ok. It's ok. I'm sorry.

Paige: Look, you know, you don't have to hide your past to spare my feelings.

Bo: No, it's not that. It was a year ago tonight that Gabrielle died.

Paige: I -- I didn't know.

Bo: Yeah. We'd probably be married by now.

Paige: You know what, bo? You don't have to say anything. Look, we're not kids. I know that you've been with other women. I just -- I didn't know about -- about -- you know, I'm just going to go, all right?

Bo: No, no, no, don't just -- please, just listen to me, ok? Gabrielle is part of my life and part of my past -- a very important part, and I'll never forget her. But she's gone. And tonight I put her picture away. I wanted to put your picture on my desk, if it's ok with you.

Paige: I -- I guess I don't have any problems with a photograph. But why don't I give you something else to remember me by, huh?

Nora's voice: Nora, Nora, Nora, Nora, what are you doing? You walked out on a man who just proposed to you, and you're hiding yourself at work? Oh, my, what are you doing, Nora? Wait a minute. What am i doing? What is Daniel doing? Why is he asking me to marry him? Why now? We're still finding our way in this dating world. We haven't even spent the night together, for goodness' sake. I mean, we have if you count that weekend at the shore, but, you know, I was sick and it wasn't romantic. But then he did spend the whole weekend taking care of me, playing games, being charming and kind, handsome. Why not, huh? Isn't that what you look for in a life mate? Yeah. But Matthew -- what about Matthew? Well, he'll still have his daddy. I mean, that won't change, even though his daddy and his step-daddy won't get along. That leaves Matthew in the middle? Oh, that leaves us both in the middle. Oh, god, and what about at work? I'd be caught between my ex-husband and my future husband? No, this would never work, uh-uh. But if I said no, could Daniel and I go on dating and working together? Ugh. If I said yes, could we go working together? I mean, how does that work? Memo to self -- "look up rules in the district attorney's handbook on office etiquette." Ok, you are thinking too much, Nora Buchanan. Stop it. Stop thinking. Just feel. Ok. How do you feel? I feel special. God, it feels -- it feels wonderful to know that there's someone out there who loves me enough to want to build a life with me. I feel --

Nora: I don't know!

Natalie: Cristian, please, please just do what they say. Give them your wallet, please.

Natalie: Cristian!

Natalie: Cristian, stop! This is Natalie Vega. We're at the park. We're being attacked! They have a gun!

Man: Lieutenant McBain? There's been an attack in the park. It's Natalie Vega.

Evangeline: Go.

John: Ok.

Natalie: Cristian?

Man: Don't shoot.

Natalie: Cristian, baby, please -- please, just let him go, baby, please!

[Phone rings]

Natalie: We're in the park! We need help!

John: Natalie, are you all right?

Natalie: No, please, don't do this.

Man: Wait. I wasn't going to hurt her, man.

Cristian: Shut up.

Natalie: Cristian, no!


[Natalie screams]

Viki: Are you going to be ok?

Blair: This was the first day that jack woke up and didn't ask where his daddy was. Viki, the thought of that little boy growing up without a father --

Viki: Hey, let's not go there, ok? What you did tonight may very well turn things around, you know? Mm-hmm.

Blair: I know you told Kevin that you suggested to Renee that I sing, but, you know, I was the one that came up with the idea.

Viki: Really? I didn't remember that.

Blair: Thank you.

Viki: Oh, come on.

Blair: Thank you.

Viki: Hey, I hope that you and Kelly have a very happy new year.

Blair: You, too.

Adriana: She didn't want me dating River.

Duke: So it's not just me she hates?

Adriana: But I didn't care. And I got caught up in all this sneaking around, and I did something really stupid. I slept with him. It was my first time. And we didn't use protection, and I thought I was pregnant. And I didn't even want to know if it was true. I just prayed, and I swore to god that if that test came back negative, that I would never, ever love again.

Duke: I promised god the same thing when my first girlfriend broke up with me. I guess we all do dumb things for love.

Adriana: Especially in my family.

Duke: How about this -- how about I promise not to let you do anything crazy, as long as you do the same for me? And we'll just take it slow, because I don't think we should give up. What do you think?

Adriana: It's a deal.

Viki: Ahem, ahem.

Adriana: Hi, mrs. Davidson.

Viki: I'm sorry, I don't mean to interrupt.

Adriana: Oh, no, you're not interrupting.

Duke: Grandma, what's up?

Viki: Honey, your father is going to give his speech now.

Duke: So?

Viki: So I would like to arrange a little heist here. I would very much like you to be up there on the stage with him. It would mean a lot to him, honey, and it would mean a lot to me, too.

Duke: Dad knows how I feel, all right? I don't want to have anything to do with his political career, ok? I don't agree with anything he believes in. Grandma, I'm sorry, I canít.

Adriana: I'll work on him.

Viki: Thank you. Adriana, for what it's worth, I think you two are wonderful together.

Bo: What are you doing here?

Nora: Oh, I just, you know, had a few things on my mind and this is my -- my thinking place.

Bo: Ah. Everything ok?

Nora: Yeah, everything's fine. It's great.

Bo: Really?

Nora: Yeah, fine. Yeah. I mean, Daniel asked me to marry him.

Bo: Oh, yeah?

Nora: Mm-hmm.

Bo: Well. I just got three words for you -- lots of luck.

John: Hey, what the hell happened?

Natalie: I got attacked, and Cristian -- he came up -- he showed up just time and then he -- he fought the guy. There was this -- there was this other guy and he had a gun, so I called 911.

John: What about the gunshot, Natalie? What happened with the gun?

Natalie: Cristian -- he took the gun. I thought he was going to shoot the guy, but he didnít. He -- he pointed the gun in the air -- it was like a warning shot -- and then the police came and they took him off for questioning.

Evangeline: Natalie, your neck. Are you hurt?

John: We should get that checked out.

Natalie: No, I'm fine.

Cristian: What are you doing here?

Natalie: I called the police. I thought you were going to kill that guy.

Cristian: I told you to stay away from my wife. She doesn't need you messing up her life again.

John: Getting old, Cris. Do not throw Vegas in my face every time I run into you.

Cristian: Oh, yeah? What are going to do about it?

Natalie: Cris.

Cristian: Come on. Let's go.

John: So much for a work-free evening.

Evangeline: It's all right. You did the right thing.

John: You know, he could've gotten himself killed or he could've gotten Natalie killed tonight.

Evangeline: You're right. Somebody has to help her. But it can't be you.

Margaret: How is he, doctor?

Dr. Bricker: Sleeping soundly. He was holding this.

Margaret: Oh.

Margaret: Isn't he the absolutely sweetest man? Even when he's feeling not well, he still writes me these little notes.

Dr. Bricker: I think he'll sleep through the night. And you should try to get some rest yourself.

Margaret: Ok.

Margaret: I just emptied my bank account to pay for your doctor bills, all because you were ungrateful enough to try to escape.

Margaret: But I forgive you. Rest now, my darling. Nothing is going to happen. Blair can sing all the songs she wants, and you can write notes until your fingers fall off. But you're with me now, and I am never letting you go.

R.J.: Oh, what are the odds that Balsom's really leaving town? I mean, I figure it's some kind of scam, I just don't know the payoff.

Lindsay: I don't know. But I think he's telling the truth this time.

Jen: So is that why you came by the shack, to tell me that you're leaving?

Rex: Yeah. But when I saw you with riley --

Jen: You mean when you walked in on us.

Rex: Hey, oh, whatever -- I decided not to tell you.

Jen: Why?

Rex: Well, you've been saying for months that you want to start a new life. I didn't buy it. But after seeing the two of you together -- hey, Jen, you pulled it off. I'm proud of you.

Jen: What's up with you tonight?

Rex: I'm being nice.

Jen: Nice? Rex Balsom?

Rex: Look, Jen, whatever -- whatever happens, whatever comes out after I'm gone, just know I was trying to look out for you.

Jen: What are you talking about?

Rex: Just remember, for me, it's always been about you. Always.

Riley: What are you doing here?

Rex: Actually, I was just on my way out -- for good. You take care of her.

Riley: Hang on, man. We're not finished.

Nora: Hey, what do you mean, "lots of luck"?

Bo: Just like it sounded. You're getting married, good for you.

Nora: Why are you behaving this way?

Bo: When did you start making decisions based on what I think? I mean, I'm not your husband anymore. You know, you really didn't do that when I was.

Nora: What are you talking about?

Bo: Nora, we're over, you know? You have to move on. And other than Matthew, we don't make joint decisions anymore.

[Computer beeps]

Nora: What's that?

Bo: It's a image-enhancement program. It's trying to give me an update.

Nora: I thought the tape was erased.

Bo: Yeah, yeah, it was. I made a duplicate before I turned it in.

Nora: Wait a minute, you made a duplicate of the tape and didn't tell anyone? Had you plans to tell anyone?

Bo: Yeah, yeah, eventually. Ok, if this thing works, it's going to show us who framed Dorian for Cramerís murder. Well, there's our murderer.

Nora: And our murderer is at Capricorn.

Bo: Ah.

Nora: Hi, Paige.

Paige: Hey.

Nora: Excuse me.

Bo: Ok.

Paige: Are you leaving?

Bo: Yeah, yeah, I'm sorry. We got a break in the case, and I got to get over to Capricorn and make an arrest, ok? But first, I'll tell you what -- I will drop you off at my place, ok?

Paige: Ok.

Bo: Here, take this.

Paige: Ok.

Daniel: Colson.

Nora: Daniel? Hi, it's Nora. You need to meet me outside of Capricorn in 10 minutes.

Daniel: Why? What's going on?

Nora: Bo just found Paul Cramerís killer. You're not going to believe this one.

Dr. Bricker: Mrs. Dawson got your note. Not to worry.

Todd: Just -- phone --

Dr. Bricker: What are you trying to say?

Todd: She --

Dr. Bricker: What?

Todd: She Ė

Kevin: Now, in conclusion, I am happy to announce that the commonwealth finished the year in the black. Governor brooks would like to return that surplus to our corporate donors in the form of tax breaks. I don't agree. As many of you know, my son ace has been missing for several months now. Last year, several hundred other children went missing in Pennsylvania, so here's my plan. In the coming year, I will propose that our legislature allocate those extra funds to help search and find our missing kids. Because without the strength of our families, we will not prosper.


Kevin: Our children will always be more important than big business, and it is time that the powers that be at the capital realize that. Thank you.

Adriana: Duke is such a great guy. I mean, I know, I said that about River, but this is different. River and I spent all our time sneaking around and it was romantic, but this is real. I sound like an idiot.

Blair: No.

Kelly: No, you donít. No, duke is one of the good ones. I should know.

Blair: I thought Kevinís speech was touching.

Adriana: You must miss ace so much.

Kelly: I do. I miss him more than anything. I wish Kevin could see my way about things. Oh, I am not going to be bummed out on New Yearís Eve. Hey, you might have a message waiting for you when you get home.

Blair: Oh, all I care about is never seeing 2004 ever again.

Adriana: Ladies, I'm going to propose a toast in my mother's absence.

Blair: Ok.

Adriana: To the Cramer girls in 2005, still going strong.

Blair: Yes, ma'am.

Kelly: Cheers.

Blair: I'll drink to that.

Natalie: Cristian, you didn't even talk to me on the way home. Are you ever going to talk to me again?

Cristian: When I saw that guy holding that gun at you, I don't know what happened. I snapped. I'm not letting anyone take you away from me ever again. I don't care what I have to do.

Natalie: I mean, Cris, I didn't know what to do either. You -- you went after those guys and the -- the look in your eyes, it was like --

Cristian: Like what?

Natalie: Like you were a stranger.

John: If this is about me and Natalie again --

Evangeline: Please, john, it's not. Look, I know you want to be a big guy here and save the day, but you saw the way Cristian just looked at you. He doesn't need saving, at least not from you.

John: What do you say we just call it a night?

Evangeline: What, you don't have any police reports to file, you know, undercover police business to do tonight?

John: I already told you I'm off duty. I think the boys in the L.P.D. Can handle it.

Evangeline: The question is, can you?

John: Me? Come here.

Rex: It's not worth it, ok?

Jen: He was just saying goodbye.

Rex: I don't want any trouble.

Riley: Well, I just wanted to say good luck, man. Seriously.

Rex: I meant what I said. You take care of her. She deserves the best.

Riley: Well, I plan on giving it to her.

Rex: Well, you better, or you'll be hearing from me. Later, Llanview! It's been a trip.

Bo: Balsom, the only place you're headed right now is to a holding cell.

Jen: What's going on?

Bo: Rex Balsom, you're under arrest for the murder of Paul Cramer. Turn around. You have the right to remain silent. If you give up that right, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you can't afford one, one will be provided to you Ė
