David: Look, are there maybe some other five-star hotels in that area of Mendorra? Yeah -- no, I've tried those. All right, thank you.

[Phone rings]

David: Dorian, where the hell are you?

Todd: What's taking Starr so long?

Blair: I think she's saying goodbye to Travis.

Todd: All right.

Blair: Oh, wait, wait, wait, relax, relax. His counselor's out there with him. He's going to take him back to the camp, and we need to get you to the hospital.

Todd: Why?

Blair: "Why?" You were knocked out inside a burning building, Todd. You might have smoke inhalation maybe, you know?

Todd: Ah. My head hurts, my back hurts a little bit, but I'm okay.

Blair: Thank God. And thank God Starr and Travis got out of there before the fire spread.

Todd: Yeah, she could have been killed.

Blair: Yep.

Todd: People are saying it's arson.

Blair: Hmm.

Todd: I'd like to get my hands on the guy that started it.

Antonio: We're okay now, right?

Jessica: Yeah. I understand, you know, why you were hiding things from me about the Santi family and, you know, why you were stripping.

Antonio: Then what's wrong?

Jessica: I don't know. All of those nights that I had alone, I guess I just started thinking too much about what might have been happening to you.

Antonio: Well, Honey, I'm a cop. I mean, I'm careful, but there's going to be more nights like that.

Jessica: I know. I just -- I just don't want to get married just to become a widow, you know?

Antonio: Oh. Is that why you're postponing the wedding date? I mean, because if it is, Honey, I'm warning you, that's not going to change.

Natalie: I'm not going anywhere with you. You're supposed to be in F.B.I. custody.

Paul: Change of plans.

Natalie: Yeah, no kidding. Have you even told the F.B.I.?

Paul: That agent is going dirty. She was going to use me for a score.

Natalie: Kathryn Fitzgerald has gone dirty?

Paul: Yeah. She had this idea about how she could get her hands on the Santi money. And if it worked, there's no way she could keep me alive, so I had to find a way out.

Natalie: How?

Paul: Listen, I will explain everything later, okay? Right now we got to get going before someone comes finding me.

Natalie: No, you have to get going. I'm bailing. I'm bailing.

Paul: Natalie, please, come on. Come see the world with me. I promise it won't be boring.

[Knock on door]

Viki: Natalie? Honey, are you there?

John: You all right?

Evangeline: When I came here from The Palace, I walked in -- I walked into my office --

John: Did you touch anything? Did you touch anything?

Evangeline: I don't know what happened. I don't even know who she is.

John: Kathryn. Her name is Kathryn.

David: I have left about a million messages for you. I'm on a first-name basis with half the population of Mendorra. Listen to me very carefully. There is a Santi family hit man looking for you. He -- can you -- can you hear me? Dorian? You're breaking -- Dorian, can you hear me?

River: I wish I didn't have to go.

Adriana: Well, then don’t.

River: I got to, I have to, or I'm going to be late for my radio thing.

Adriana: All right, well, come back when it's over.

River: I will. I'm sorry, I can’t. I told the guys I would check out this new band Ethanol, see if they're any good for radio play or whatever. Sorry.

Adriana: Do these guys include Shannon McBain?

River: She might be there. I don't know.

Adriana: Then why didn't you just say so?

River: She's not the reason I'm going.

Adriana: But you didn't want to tell me.

River: No. I figured you'd get pretty wound up -- very similar to the way you're acting right now.

Adriana: Maybe that's because every time I turn around, she's hanging all over my boyfriend.

River: That's really good that you notice that, considering the way you let Rex Balsom hit on you all the time.

Todd: The cops declared it a crime scene, so you can bet the fire department's saying arson.

Blair: Oh, yeah, I just hope Starr's not traumatized by this too much, you know?

Todd: Traumatized?

Blair: Yeah.

Todd: Huh. All she could talk about was her hero mom.

Blair: Right, right. I think she's just excited that she has this exciting story to tell her new boyfriend.

Todd: Don't say that word, please.

Blair: I'm sorry.

Todd: You should probably take her home now, huh?

Blair: Tell you what -- why don't you take us all home?

Todd: Okay.

John: No one goes in or out but you two; the bureau will have a team double-checking every move you make, so no mistakes on this one. You got it?

Officer: Got it.

John: Take care of her.

Evangeline: Did you know her well?

John: Yeah, I knew her. I worked at the bureau with her. What was she doing here?

Evangeline: I have no idea. I've never even seen her before.

John: This client you were meeting -- did he show? Tell me about him.

Evangeline: He's the bookkeeper I told you about. He was scared he knew too much about a former employer.

John: The Hook Up?

Evangeline: Right.

John: Okay, I need everything you got on this guy. No, don't give me the attorney-client argument, okay? Privilege went way out the window.

Evangeline: Okay, when --

John: You got a dead woman in your office. Your client doesn't show. In my book, that makes him suspect number one. On top of everything else, Evangeline, this one's personal for me.

Evangeline: Okay, he's no killer, trust me. He -- he just did the books at the Hook Up. I had Antonio working undercover for me until he called it off because he said it's a police case now.

John: Okay.

Evangeline: You know everything that I know. My client -- he said there was money going through there that wasn't on the books. He said the Santi family was involved somehow, which means drugs, illegal arms shipments, God knows what else, which -- which means -- which means it had to be a federal investigation, and your friend -- your friend was part of the investigation.

John: Go on.

Evangeline: I heard that Paul Cramer was involved somehow. Apparently, the manager of the Hook Up knows him.

John: And?

Evangeline: And Paul Cramer -- Paul Cramer was the guy that was involved at that sting at the train station, right, and then he supposedly testified against those people in San Diego, so -- so the feds have to be involved, and that means your friend. I don't know, John. That's it, I'm sorry! I don't know!

John: Okay, okay. I'm sorry. You understand I can't hold up my end of the conversation.

Evangeline: Well, would you like to hear my theory?

John: Absolutely.

Evangeline: A federal officer should not have been in my office trying to meet with my client. Okay, I'm just going to -- I'm just going to say this. Maybe your friend was playing both sides. I mean, from what I read in the papers, there's a hell of a lot of money involved here.

John: The Kathryn I knew was a good agent. She was a good agent.

John: Maybe she just -- maybe she just got too close to her target.

Evangeline: Meaning who? Paul Cramer? You're wondering if he killed her.

[Knock on door]

Paul: Don't rat me out, okay?

Natalie: Just -- just a minute! Hide in the back. Hide in the back.

Natalie: Hey!

Viki: Am I interrupting?

Natalie: No.

Viki: No?

Natalie: Not really.

Viki: Oh. That's funny -- I thought I heard voices. No? Okay. Well, it was a lovely evening. I thought I'd take a walk.

Natalie: You walked all the way here?

Viki: Yeah, it's not that far. Besides, walking is very good for me. It prevents lung problems. Honey? What's going on here?

Natalie: Here? No, it's just us just hanging out.

Viki: Natalie? Darling, if you're in some kind of trouble, I really wish you'd tell me. Maybe I can help.

Adriana: You're making a big deal out of this so you can go hang out with Shannon.

River: I'm going to be late for the studio, if you've got anything else to say.

Adriana: Right, because that non-date you have tonight is so unbreakable.

David: I'm kind of new at playing father knows best, but since I'm going to be marrying your mother, do you maybe want to talk about this?

Adriana: No, I don't!

Blair: Take a bath, Starr!

Todd: Whoa -- is there a fire or something?

Blair: Ha-ha. Teenagers.

Todd: Yeah. That's what we got to look forward to, huh?

Blair: Thank you for seeing us home.

Todd: Anytime.

Blair: Todd? You want to say good night to your children?

Todd: Yeah.

David: Hey -- hey, what the hell? Do you want me to call the police?

Blair: No, I don’t. I told him he could go.

David: Well, I think I speak for Dorian when I say, have you absolutely lost your mind?

Jessica: Could you just do me a favor and promise me that the next time that you do an undercover job that you keep your clothes on?

Antonio: I will try my best. It wouldn't be hard to imagine how you felt when you saw me. If I were to walk into a place and I saw you dancing in front of a bunch of guys, I think I'd probably freak out.

Jessica: Oh, you wouldn't like that?

[Jessica giggles]

Jessica: Well, you don't have to worry about that, because my stripteases I do only on a one-to-one basis.

[Music plays]

Viki: I really thought I'd heard a man's voice.

Natalie: Oh, the radio. I turned it off when you -- you knocked.

Viki: Ah. I see.

Natalie: I was just -- ahem -- thinking, maybe I should rent out this place.

Viki: What brought that on?

Natalie: I don't know. After you had your transplant, I mean, you convinced me to move back in here. But ever since Roxy moved out and moved in with Nigel, I just don't really feel comfortable here.

Viki: Well, if you want to move back to Llanfair, I think that would be wonderful.

Natalie: Thank you, but I -- no. I -- I don't really know that I belong there, either. The only person that I really belonged to was Cristian, you know. Wherever he was, that was home.

Viki: I understand that, Darling, but you really can't go through the rest of your life, you know, alone with a radio.

Natalie: Yes, but I will if I wait around for a certain cop to make up his mind. You know, maybe I should try something else.

Viki: There is nothing wrong with taking a chance on surprises, you know. If you always did the "right thing," you know, you might never have found your real family. I know following your heart can be risky, but, sweetheart, it is the -- the only path to the real you. Well, I -- there we go -- am going to walk home.

Natalie: No. No, no, no, no. I'm going to drive you home.

Viki: No, you are not going to drive me. I'm going to walk, but I will call you when I get home, okay? I love you.

Natalie: I love you, too. Paul?

Natalie: "Had to go. Be at the Rosemount Inn, Room 13, until dawn. I really hope you'll come."

John: You the manager?

Sara: Yeah. What'll you have?

John: Just information. What do you know about Kathryn Fitzgerald?

Sara: Who?

John: "Who?" All right. This woman, Kathryn Fitzgerald -- what do you know about her?

Paul: So those rumors about him maybe --

Sara: Who is she?

Paul: I -- I don't know. I have no idea.

Sara: I never saw her before.

John: You never saw her before? How about the guy, this guy, Paul Cramer?

Sara: Him, either.

John: "Him, either"? That's funny, I got people that say they saw you talking to him right here.

Sara: Come on, lieutenant. I talk to strangers all night. It's about business.

[Phone rings]

Sara: The Hook Up.

Paul: Yeah, you know who this is. I'm leaving. I'm out of this whole thing.

Sara: Good idea. Have a nice life while it lasts.

Paul: Don't hang up. After all those deliveries I made for you, don't you think I deserve a bonus?

Sara: Look, kid, this is a real bad time, okay?

Paul: I don't have any other time. I figure 10,000 should do it.

John: That'll never happen. You got one move left, Cramer -- turn yourself in. If you don't, I will hunt you down and make you hurt in ways you never dreamed of.

Natalie: I'm really glad to see you.

Rex: Great. You got to help me. Ahem -- remember Roxy hired an arsonist to burn down Foxy Roxy’s for insurance money?

Natalie: How could I forget?

Rex: Okay, you have to. If anyone asks, it never happened.

Natalie: Who would ask? I mean, the fireman -- whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute! You guys were responsible for the community center?

Rex: Not our fault, and no one got hurt.

Natalie: But that arsonist did it.

Rex: No, but he moved his stuff over there. And if anyone remembers seeing those gas cans, then we're not going to --

Natalie: Oh, my God, this is so disgusting. This is so disgusting. I mean -- ahem -- this is the place that Roxy loves, and you want to burn it down for money?

Rex: It was her idea.

Natalie: It is still disgusting.

Rex: Yeah, but pretty amazing she'd do that for me, huh?

Natalie: Yeah, well, you know what? Sick as it is, it's got to be nice having someone care about you that much.

Rex: Works for me.

Natalie: It's kind of like how Antonio cares about Jess, Kelly with Kevin. You know, even Ben gave up his heart for Mom.

Rex: Whatever. So you're not going to say anything, right?

Natalie: I ought to call Uncle Bo and have the both of you thrown in jail. But I may not be here after tonight. I was kind of thinking about going --

Rex: Great! So we're covered. Everything's cool then, huh?

Natalie: Rex, wait! Don't you even want to know where I'm going?

Rex: Yeah. Sure. Where?

Natalie: I don't -- I don't know.

Sara: Look, I don't know who you think you were talking to, but you just told off my beer distributor.

John: Oh, I know what he distributes, and the phone company will tell me where he called from. Are you sure you don't want to get on my good side while you still can?

Sara: Look, I'm there. I have nothing to hide.

John: Oh, everybody's got something to hide. For example, where were you between 8:00 and 10:00 tonight?

Todd: They're asleep, curled up like puppies.

Blair: Oh, great.

Todd: Should I go?

David: Yeah, why not. Here's the door.

Blair: No. Don’t. Actually, you're bleeding a little bit right there. Why don't we go in here -- away from David. Bye.

David: Don't you sit on the furniture.

Blair: Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's actually right. Dorian would kill me. There you go. So let me clean you up. Hmm.

Todd: Ay --

Blair: Sorry.

Todd: Careful.

Blair: This doesn't look good

Todd: It's better than being dead, which I would be if it weren't for you.

Blair: I don't know what I was even thinking.

Todd: I think I do. Just couldn't leave me in there, could you?

Blair: It sure would have saved me a lot of trouble --

Todd: Yeah, yes.

Blair: And gotten rid of a lot of problems.

Todd: You could have died in there with me. Why'd you do it, Blair?

John: A woman died tonight. You either had it done or you know something about it. I'm only telling you this because when they start tying up loose ends, I have this funny feeling yours is the body I'm going to find at the bottom of the river staring up at me.

Sara: You trying to scare me?

John: Yeah. How am I doing?

John: Hey.

Natalie: Hey.

John: Got a minute? Can I ask you a question?

Natalie: Yeah. I just came by for a drink to think about something. Do you want to go somewhere else or you okay here?

John: Yeah. Look, I know I'm probably going to get the runaround here, but when was the last time you saw your buddy Paul Cramer?

Natalie: Paul? That's what you want to ask me about?

John: I'm sorry, Natalie. I have no time for small talk.

Natalie: Um -- last time I saw him, he was being arrested. Your buddy Kathryn was going to take him away.

John: Okay. Well, I'm sure if you'll see him, you'll call the station, right?

Natalie: Sure.

John: Thanks for the minute.

Jessica: You still think that your mom's lying to you?

Antonio: Well, her brother was head of the crime syndicate -- a good reason to keep secrets.

Jessica: Yeah, but her and your uncle weren't even close, right?

Antonio: Right.

Jessica: Hmm. Well, no wonder Carlotta worried about you being the leader of a gang as a teenager.

Antonio: But I did get that Manny's wife and child were killed by a car bomb.

Jessica: I guess that's why Dorian hid Adriana.

Antonio: And -- and he had another son, baby. His name was Tico.

Jessica: Your cousin? Where is he?

Antonio: Yeah. He was sent away. Where he is now, nobody knows.

Jessica: Not even your family?

Antonio: No, didn't want to. My grandparents died without ever seeing Manny again.

Jessica: What did your grandfather do?

Antonio: He was a metal smith, a jeweler. He made, you know, beautiful, beautiful things.

Evangeline: Hi. Coffee, please.

Evangeline: R.J. -- It's me. I -- I need to see you. Something horrible just happened, and I can't see people, so I won't come to Capricorn, but please call me. I need to see you.

Carlotta: Adriana! Thank God you're safe!

Adriana: I know. I heard about the fire. I thank God that everyone was safe.

Carlotta: Yeah, it was a real blessing.

Adriana: You know, actually, when I pray, I usually hold my cross.

Carlotta: Well, you should put your gold one on, then.

Adriana: Well, I was wondering if maybe I could have the one my father gave you.

Carlotta: Adriana, your father was evil.

Adriana: Please, I want it back.

Carlotta: No. If I give that to you now, it could get you killed.

Blair: I -- I don't know why I ran in there.

Todd: Hmm. No, it's just instinct -- didn't want to see your husband die.

Blair: Oh. You are not my husband anymore.

Todd: I think with all that heat and the smoke inhalation, you just forgot.

Blair: I think it's because we came together to protect our daughter and we got close.

Todd: So what's next?

Blair: Well, what's next is I think we should just be really happy we're alive. And I'm really, really sorry --

Todd: Agh!

Blair: You got banged --

Todd: I'm okay.

Blair: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Where else does it hurt?

Todd: Hmm --

Blair: More places?

David: Tell me something -- have you -- have you been wearing that sexy little ankle bracelet I gave you, huh? How did you know it was bugged? All right, I tell you what -- you keep looking out there. I'll check the Vega family secrets.

Adriana: How -- how can my cross get me killed?

Carlotta: Adriana, you ask so many questions. Look, that cross is very distinctive. Manny's people could know about it, and God knows what they would do to get ahold of it!

Adriana: Then I won't wear it. I'll lock it up and I'll keep it safe. But, please, I really, really want it.

Carlotta: If -- if you promise to lock it away and if you promise that you will not wear it.

Adriana: I promise.

Carlotta: Adriana --

Adriana: I promise. Thank you.

Carlotta: So any news on how that fire got started?

Officer: If there is, it's not public.

Adriana: Are you hiding from me?

Rex: No! No. Have a seat.

Adriana: I can't, actually. Carlotta, I may take the bus home, okay?

Officer: Not from here, Sweetheart. That route's been canceled because of the fire.

Adriana: Oh.

Rex: Look, I'll give you a ride.

Adriana: Didn't we do this before?

Rex: Yeah, but this time you're going to accept.

Adriana: Why not.

Viki: Oh, hello. Yes. This is Victoria Davidson calling. I know your office is closed now, but I would like to attend the next meeting of the support group for heart transplant recipients, and -- I actually pre-registered with you when I was at the hospital, so you have all my information. If you could just give me a call and let me know when the meeting is, I'd appreciate it. Thank you very much. Bye-bye. Oh. Oh, God. Oh, Ben. Everything terrifies me, you know? I'm afraid of infection. I'm afraid I'm going to reject your wonderful heart. I'm even afraid of these logs and the medications I have to take. You were the only one I could ever admit to being afraid to, and you still are.

Jessica: Mom? Talking to yourself?

Viki: Well, not exactly.

Evangeline: Is it okay to come in here now?

Officer: All finished, ma'am. Sorry about the mess.

John: Evangeline? Sorry to scare you.

Evangeline: She was my age. You know, I deal with violent crime every day, but I never thought of dying here.

John: Sorry.

Evangeline: It's okay. It's okay. Thank you. What's up?

John: This client of yours, the bookkeeper -- he ever mention anybody besides his boss?

Evangeline: Not by name.

John: He check in with you yet?

Evangeline: I left messages, but if he was here and he saw your friend, my guess is he ran.

John: Any reason that you can think of that he might want to kill Kathryn himself?

Evangeline: Oh, he's a mouse. He's not a hit man. He hired me to talk him out of trouble.

John: Okay. I still need to find him. If he didn't kill Kathryn, he might be the last person to have seen her alive.

[Phone rings]

John: Excuse me. McBain. Okay. Thanks. Your bookkeeper, this client of yours -- his name Arthur Loomis?

Evangeline: Yeah, yeah. Did he turn himself in?

John: Not voluntarily. They just found his body floating in the Llantano River.

Evangeline: Oh, my God.

Adriana: Thanks for driving me home.

Rex: My pleasure.

Adriana: Hey. I -- I thought you were going to go see some band.

River: Yeah, obviously. Hey, Rex.

Rex: Problem, or you want to handle it from here?

Adriana: Not a problem. Good night.

Rex: Bye, River.

River: That was nice. What are you doing hanging out with Balsom?

Adriana: He just gave me a ride home.

River: Yeah, you really got to stop losing that purse.

Adriana: River, I went to Carlotta’s to get my cross, okay? The number three bus wasn't running because of that fire. Hey. Don't be angry. Listen, I heard what you said on the radio -- "Let's get through the fire together." I love you.

River: I love you, too. I came back for you.

River: You want me to put this on?

Adriana: Yeah.

River: All right.

Adriana: It always kept me safe before.

David: Hello. Have you had any unexpected visitors lately?

Carlotta: What kind of visitors?

David: Big ones with guns.

Carlotta: No.

David: Yeah? Well, Dorian has. Luckily, she's not here. That leaves us.

Carlotta: Why are you telling me this?

David: Look, I know you care about Dorian. You've got to tell me a little bit about your brother, all right? Whatever might help protect Dorian.

Carlotta: But I told everything I know to the authorities.

David: Look, when you were kids, places that you used to play, maybe secret hiding places.

Carlotta: I don't know anything!

David: Look, Carlotta, just because I'm a jerk doesn't mean you have to be a jerk. Dorian's life could be on the line here. I'll just take my pie to go. Thank you. Antonio.

Antonio: Como esta?

Carlotta: Bien. Y tu?

Antonio: What was that about?

Carlotta: Oh, he's always a pain.

Antonio: Hmm. You know, it doesn't help anyone to keep your brother's secrets now, Mami.

Carlotta: I am not keeping secrets.

Antonio: Okay. What's with the bracelet?

Carlotta: Would you stop asking me questions about Manny?

Antonio: Manny? What does he have to do with the bracelet?

Carlotta: Oh -- come on. He was the one who wanted me to have it. He found it after our mother died.

Antonio: Oh.

Jessica: Your weight's normal, your blood pressure and temperature are normal. Glad to see everything's going okay.

Viki: This is just payback for checking your homework all through school, isn't it?

Jessica: Of course it is.

Viki: Aw.

Jessica: I heard you saw Natalie tonight.

Viki: Yeah, I did. It was a lovely evening and I wanted to take a walk.

Jessica: A walk?

Viki: A walk.

Jessica: Great exercise.

Viki: Yes. So much better.

[Phone rings]

Viki: I'll get it. Hello.

Natalie: Hi. I'm glad you made it back okay.

Viki: Oh, Baby, I'm so sorry. I promised you I'd call when I got home and I didn’t. I'm sorry. I'm fine. Jessica's here. Everything okay with you?

Natalie: Yeah. What you said tonight, it really helped. I know what to do now. I don't know where I'll be, but don't worry.

Viki: What do you mean, where you'll be?

Natalie: Wherever I am, I can find my way home.

Evangeline: He came to me for help. I told him to come clean, to name names. I set him up.

John: No, you did the right thing.

Evangeline: No, I should have realized. I should have made sure that he had protection -- police protection.

John: Sometimes cops and lawyers don't mix.

Evangeline: If -- if Arthur and your F.B.I. agent were both killed by the Santis, then, you know, maybe we can get the phone records for the Hook Up. Maybe that'll help.

John: We checked the L.U.D.S. Phone company didn't even know they had a phone there.

Evangeline: Well obviously somebody's doing business at the Hook Up that they don't want traced.

John: Well, maybe when we find Cramer, we'll get a few of these answers.

Blair: No. No, Todd. I can’t.

Todd: Okay, I'm going home, and I'm going to wait for you there -- to our home.

Blair: Todd -- I can't make any promises.

Todd: I don't want any promises. I'll see you there.

>> Stay tuned for scenes from the next "One Life to Live"

>> On the next "One Life to Live" --

Natalie: Why are you carrying around a gun if you didn't do anything wrong?

John: Is there anything you can tell me about her relationship with Paul Cramer that might help us find her?

Kevin: I think you need to ask yourself why you can be closer to Todd than you can me.
