[Pounding on door]
Marcie: Plea!! Somebody! Anybody! Can somebody let me out? Please! Come on, anybody. Please, somebody. Help!
Michael: So, what are you hoping to get for the organ in there?
Dr. Long: I don't know what you're talking about.
Michael: Come on! I'm sure there's some wealthy patient out there willing to spend an outrageous fortune to be moved up to the top of the transplant list. Which is why I have to go call the police.
Dr. Long: You do and your girlfriend won't live through the night!
Viki: Wow. A heart transplant. I mean, I -- I can't seem to take it in. I mean, it's so -- it's extreme, right?
Jessica: Mom, they -- they do these things all the time now.
Dorian: And you should be very optimistic because, actually, you're quite physically strong, considering your condition. You're an excellent candidate for the surgery.
Dorian: However, what Dr. Gardner said is true. A transplant really is your best option. You don't have too many other alternatives.
Kevin: Mom, if -- mom, if this is what you've got to do to save your life, then you got to do it.
Viki: Oh, Kevin, I mean, I -- I can't just do -- do it. I -- I have so many questions.
Jessica: But you will have the surgery, right?
Viki: I mean if I wake up and someone else's heart is -- is beating inside me, will I still be me?
Starr: Hey, dad!
Todd: Hey. Back in Llanview?
Starr: We just got off the plane.
Todd: And where's your mom?
Starr: Oh, she's with Hedy and Jack getting the luggage. We're coming home soon. Do you think that you'd be able to come over and see us tonight?
Todd: Tonight, huh? I guess I could do that. Actually, on second thought, I think maybe I'll just stay home and watch television instead. I didn't really miss you.
Starr: Yes, you did. You missed us, and we missed you, too.
Todd: Hey, don't tell your mom I'm coming over.
Blair: Hey, baby, who you talking to?
Starr: Uh, hold on one second, Suzie. I'm talking to Suzie. I'll be off in a second.
Blair: I heard that. Ok, well, you tell Suzie you'll call her back because, come on, the car's waiting.
Todd: So am I, Blair. Welcome home.
Natalie: Paul? I'm sorry, Paul, but I can't say goodbye on the phone.
David: Come on, Paul, this isn't funny. Come on! People don't die that easily. I only hit you one time! Oh, God. Oh, God. I got to do the right thing. Get the hell out of here.
Kelly: Oh Ė
Kevin: Mom, once the transplant's done, the new heart will be part of you. It won't turn you into someone else.
Jessica: You'll still be our same mom. We're still going to love you the same.
Viki: Well, nothing will ever make me stop loving you.
Dorian: You know, Viki, maybe it would be helpful for you to realize that what you're feeling is -- is not unique or only you. There are support groups for people who are awaiting transplants. You could talk to them. But I can assure you that most transplant recipients are very grateful to be alive, especially to have that extra time with their families.
Viki: Oh. Well, then, I guess the first step is just put my name on the waiting list for a new heart, right?
Jessica: It's going to work, mom. I know it will.
Viki: Yeah, well, let's not get ahead of ourselves because obviously somebody needs to, you know, be a donor.
Kevin: How does that work exactly?
Dorian: When a donor heart becomes available, it's checked with the list of people who are awaiting transplant for compatibility. When the list is narrowed down, then the decision is based on medical urgency. Your condition would put you at the top of the list.
Kevin: Ok, so -- so then how soon could she get a transplant?
Dorian: Whenever a donor heart became available.
Viki: Which -- I mean, it -- it could take quite a while, right?
Jessica: What are we talking? Are we talking days or weeks?
Dorian: It's hard to say.
Jessica: It could be longer? What if mom doesn't have that kind of time?
Michael: What have you done with Marcie?
Dr. Long: I suggest you stop wasting my time and go look for her.
Michael: Where is she? You don't tell me, I'm going to start screaming.
Dr. Long: You had to call the cops, didn't you? Out of my way!
Dr. Long: Wait, wait, Michael --
Dr. Long: Michael, make a deal with me, hmm? Think about Marcie. I take off, and your girlfriend lives. Hmm? What do you say?
Marcie: Ok, I just got to keep moving, just -- I'll be ok. I'll be ok if I keep moving. Come on! Can't somebody hear me out there? Please! Somebody! Michael -- oh, Michael, you just got to find me. Got to find me.
[Knock on door]
Woman: Hey, what's going on in there? You better open the door or I'm calling the police!
Kelly: Who's there?
Woman: Is the knockdown-drag out over?
Kelly: What -- what? What?
Woman: All that yelling and banging around. Look, I'm in the room across the hall. You woke me up!
Kelly: It was the TV. I'm sorry; I'll turn it down.
Woman: Well, you better keep it turned down, or I'm not going to warn you again.
Paul: Just relax, Kelly!
Kelly: Why can't you tell me about my baby?
Paul: Just relax --
Kelly: Why Ė
Kelly: Oh, my God. He's dead. Did I do this?
Blair: Thanks, sweetie. Oh, wow.
Todd: Welcome back.
Todd: Hi. Adriana let me in.
Blair: Oh, I'm -- I'm glad you're here.
Todd: You are?
Blair: I -- I think we should talk. You did all this?
Todd: It's all I could get.
Blair: Why -- uh -- thank you.
Todd: Um -- what -- what you mentioned before -- you talked about before you left -- did you have a chance to think about us at all, about getting back together?
Blair: Yeah, I thought about us a lot.
Todd: Ok. And?
Blair: And it's -- it's complicated. Very compli--
Todd: Oops. Not now. This -- I'm sorry. Hold on, hold on.
Todd: What do you want?
Kelly: It's Kelly. You have to help me!
Dorian: Dr. Gardner's here, and he can answer any of your other questions. I'll be right back.
Viki: Thank you for coming, doctor.
Dr. Gardner: I understand that you decided to go forward with the transplant.
Jessica: But since we don't know how long it's going to take to find a donor, is there anything you can do for her now?
Dr. Gardner: Well, that's what I came here to discuss with you. It is called an LVAD. It's a left ventricle assist device.
Kevin: That's a mechanical heart, right?
Dr. Gardner: Right. It is surgically implanted. It helps keep the heart pumping. Basically what it will do is serve as a bridge till we get you to the transplant. Now, you need to know that it is major surgery, and that's why I initially rejected the idea. But given your situation, I think it now is probably our best course of action.
Viki: Ok. The -- the mechanical thing -- how long does it last?
Dr. Gardner: Weeks, sometimes months. It's hard for us to say precisely.
Jessica: Well, but that -- that might not be necessary because we could find a heart sooner -- sooner than you think?
Dr. Gardner: Well, that would be the best-case scenario, but unfortunately, that is not usually our experience. The LVAD would be the best way for us to prolong your stability while we wait for the donor heart.
Viki: Yeah, I understand, doctor.
Dr. Gardner: Why don't you take some time, think about it, talk it over with your family. And when you've reached a decision, let me know and I'll be happy to come in here and talk things over with you more specifically.
Viki: Ok. Thank you.
Kevin: We appreciate it.
Viki: Ok. So I -- I have some thinking to do.
Kevin: You need to think about all the things you still have to do in your life. Like straighten me out, for instance.
Viki: Oh, Kevin, that's going to take so long.
Jessica: Oh -- you just have so much to live for, mom.
Kevin: You have to do everything in your power to stay alive.
Starr: Mom, you said that you were going to come -- where did all these roses come from?
Blair: They're beautiful, aren't they? Your daddy.
Starr: Very nice.
Blair: Yes. Are you hungry?
Blair: Me, too. So you go out in the kitchen and get us something to drink, and then we'll raid the refrigerator together, ok? Great. Todd.
Todd: Kelly, it's me. Kelly! Oh, that's terrific. You cry for my help and now you're not going to let me in? What happened? What's this?
Kelly: We -- we got in a fight.
Todd: Well, I guess I don't need to ask who won.
Kelly: He's dead! He -- he's dead!
Todd: Close the door. Did you kill him?
Kelly: I don't know!
Todd: You don't know?
Kelly: I was taking these sleeping pills! They're really strong, and I -- I was just knocked out! I -- we were fighting and -- and he -- I must've passed out because the next thing I know, there was this person knocking on the door!
Kelly: Some-- someone from next door! She was -- she was complaining about the noise! I told her it was the TV!
Todd: Ok, shh. Quiet down a minute. You think she bought that?
Kelly: I don't know. I don't know. I apologized and she left. Oh, my God. Oh, my God, what have I done? Oh, my God, oh, God! When they find out about this, there's going to be an investigation and they'll find out where Ace came from and -- oh, my God, what have I done? Oh, my God, what am I going to do? What am I going to do?
Todd: All right, Kelly, pull yourself together. Hey! Pull yourself together! You can't fall apart now, all right? I need you.
Kelly: For what?
Todd: What do you think?
Michael: Ok, you got a deal. You show me where Marcie is, I won't call the cops.
Dr. Long: So if I take you to your girlfriend, you'll let me leave?
Michael: I just want my girl back.
Dr. Long: All right, it's a deal. Let's go.
Nurse: Oh, my God.
Michael: Marcie? Marcie, baby, where are you?
Dr. Long: She was very upset.
Michael: Where is she?
Dr. Long: Well, she's cooling off.
Dr. Long: Blood storage.
Michael: She could freeze in there.
Dr. Long: Well, if she hasn't already. You'd better hurry.
Michael: You bastard. I swear to you, if anything happens to her, I will kill you.
Dr. Long: I guess you won't be able to help her now.
Viki: Thank you, Dorian. I think I need to get some rest now.
Jessica: Ok, sure. I'll just -- I'll just be right outside.
Viki: No, Jessie. I want you to go home and be with Antonio.
Viki: Yes. Yes. And, Kevin, I want you to go home and be with Kelly and your baby. And when you come back, please bring me a new picture of my grandson, ok?
Kevin: I will.
Viki: Thanks. And when you come back, would you bring me pictures of the family, ok? And then I'll have everybody here with me.
Jessica: Ok, but I'm not going to be gone long.
Viki: I need some time alone, Jessie.
Jessica: I'll be back soon.
Kevin: Get some rest, mom.
Viki: Bye, sweetie. Bye.
Viki: Dorian? Would you -- would you mind waiting a minute?
Dorian: No, of course not.
Viki: Could you close the door, please? I apologize. I'm sorry to rely on you so heavily, but if I have this transplant, what are my chances?
Dorian: Uh -- about 85% of the patients survive a year.
Viki: Wow. All of this for one year huh?
Dorian: But at this hospital, 70% live for five years or longer, even. So those are pretty good odds.
Viki: I'm terrified. I'm -- I'm so frightened, I can't think.
Dorian: I know. I know.
Viki: It's all so overwhelming, and I'm so tired.
Dorian: I know.
Viki: I don't want to leave my family.
Dorian: You need to let your family worry about you for a change.
Viki: Dorian, I don't know if I can do this.
Dorian: Of course you can. Viki, after everything that you've been through in your life, you're a survivor and you're going to survive this. There have been times when I thought that I couldn't go on, and you pulled me through -- even when you weren't sure you wanted to do that. You're going to come through on the other side of this. You have to believe that. You just have to.
[Pounding on door]
Todd: Room service.
Kelly: I had to make sure you weren't that woman coming back.
Todd: All right. Help me out. Grab a sheet and cover his feet. Do it!
Kelly: Now what?
Todd: Now we dump him in my trunk, find a place to dump him.
Kelly: Why do I have go with you?
Todd: Because he weighs a lot and I'm not going to do this alone. If I get caught, I want company. Kelly -- Kelly. Pull yourself together.
Kelly: I killed my brother, now we're dumping him like garbage!
Todd: He got what he deserves. Be happy he's not going to blackmail you anymore. You're going to keep your baby. All right?
Kelly: Ok. Ok, let's do this.
Vikiís voice: "If you're reading this, it means my heart wasn't able to keep me alive as long as we all wanted. I know you're grieving. But it's important that you try to remember not how my heart failed in the end, but how grateful I was that my heart was so full while I lived because all of you filled it every day with your love. And when you think of me, remember all the good things that you have your hearts -- courage, spirit, and compassion. I know they're there in each of you. I've seen them. And most of all, love. I love you all so very, very much. Please know that wherever I am, you will always be in my heart, and I will always be with you."
Dr. Gardner: Mrs. Davidson?
Dr. Gardner: I may have some good news for you. I have just been notified that Dr. Long has approved the harvesting of a donor heart this evening, and it was the one that we thought was most likely a match for you. I need to run some tests, and if everything goes well, we are going to need to proceed as quickly as possible. Are you ready?
Viki: Yeah. Yes, I'm -- I'm ready.
Marcie: I'm -- I'm ok. Really, ok? I'm ok.
Nurse: Ms. Walsh, you should see a doctor. You may have hypothermia.
Marcie: No, I canít. Right now I have to call Michael. I -- I have to call Dr. McBain, ok?
Nurse: Go down to the E.R. as soon as you do, ok?
Marcie: I will. I promise.
Marcie: Michael? Michael, it's Marcie. Listen, can you call me on my cell phone when you get this, ok? Just call me. John? John, it's Marcie. Listen, Dr. Long, he just -- he just tried to kill me, and -- and Michael -- I think he's going to go to Michaelís house to get him. Could you hurry? Please, just hurry, ok?
Nurse: Ms. Walsh?
Marcie: Listen, I can't talk right now, ok? I'm fine!
Nurse: No, no, no, it's that I just remembered I saw Dr. McBain earlier.
Marcie: He's here? He's in the hospital?
Nurse: Yeah. He and Dr. Long were heading up the stairs, to the roof, I guess.
Marcie: Ok. John -- John, Michaelís in the hospital. You got to hurry! You got to get here now!
Dr. Long: I got to get you out of sight before the chopper arrives.
Michael: Who's helping you get away? Paul Cramer?
Dr. Long: What do you care? You'll be dead.
Michael: What? Are you out of your mind?
Dr. Long: Well, I can't very well have you call ahead and have me arrested, now, can I? All right, let's get you outside. Oh, ok! You want to play rough, do you? You ruined it, you bastard! This was worth $50,000! What have you done?
Michael: Marcie, get out of here! Go! Go! Go for help!
Marcie: Let go of me!
Dr. Long: I don't think so!
Marcie: Get off of me! Get -- get off of me! Let me go!
Todd: At least you didn't get into a head-on collision.
Kelly: I shouldn't have been driving.
Todd: No kidding. We can stay here, get cleaned up. Viki won't mind.
Kelly: Paul's lying in a landfill!
Todd: He doesn't mind, trust me.
Kelly: He's my brother.
Todd: Well, he was your brother. He's worm food now.
Kelly: What if somebody finds him?
Todd: No, don't worry about it. We covered him well. He blends in with the landscape. Now, there's no cell phone signal. Land line's dead, too.
Kelly: I don't have a signal, either. How could I have done this?
Todd: There, there. If it wasn't you, it was someone else. Oh, here. There you go. Hey -- you want to take a shower? I'll make us a fire. Go on, it'll make you feel better.
Kelly: I'm never going to feel better ever again.
Todd: Yeah, you will. Go on, it'll be all right. I'll take that.
Natalie: Paul? Ok. Paul?
Natalie's voice: "Paul -- I'm sorry for leaving you a note like this."
Clint: If you wanted me to come see you, all you had to do was ask.
Viki: Clint. You came.
Michael: You let her go!
Marcie: Let me go!
Dr. Long: You just couldn't stop yourselves, could you?
Marcie: Get away from me!
Michael: Hey, just let her go! We won't tell! Hey! Just let her go!
Marcie: Michael! Michael!
Clint: Joey's parking the car. He'll be right in.
Viki: Both of you -- thank you for coming.
Clint: How you feeling?
Viki: Actually, I'm a little under the influence. But probably that's a good thing right now.
Clint: I talked to Jessie from the airport. She kind of filled me in.
Viki: Did she tell you about the transplant possibility?
Clint: Said you might be on a waiting list a while.
Viki: Well, actually -- um -- I haven't even told the kids yet because I didn't want to raise their hopes.
Clint: Raise their hopes?
Viki: I might be having the surgery, like, right away. Seems they found me a donor heart.
Clint: Oh, my God. Viki, I knew you'd lick this thing.
Dr. Gardner: Mrs. Davidson, may I speak with you privately?
Viki: This is Clint Buchanan. He's the father of my children, so I'd like him to stay if it's all right with you.
Dr. Gardner: Uh -- we now have a problem with the donor heart. It's -- it's no longer available. It's disappeared.
Natalie: Maybe he left already. Yep. Just in case. Oh!
Officer: Police! Put your hands in the air!
Kevin: No, I tried everywhere. No one's seen Kelly all night. Hey, David, have you seen Kelly?
David: I just went out to get a dinner -- some dinner for me to eat. Can I see you for a minute?
Dorian: Um -- yes. Excuse me, please. Ok, what is it?
David: Kelly came over here earlier. She was really upset. I -- I don't know what about -- she didn't say what -- but I'm sure it had something to do with Paul.
Dorian: Paul. Yes? So -- so where is she now?
David: I don't know she took off on me. So I followed her to Atlantic City.
Dorian: Atlantic City? What would Kelly be doing there?
David: I found her in a hotel casino with Paul. She was yelling at him, she was really going at it with him. From what I could tell, she was just laying into him, and I -- I followed her to some motel. But when I got there, she was asleep or -- or passed out, I don't know. And Paul was there, and I don't know why Paul was even there in the first place. And then he and -- he and I got into it, and -- and it got out of hand and -- I thought -- I thought maybe I killed him.
Dorian: Killed him? Dear God, David!
David: I just -- I don't know, I flipped out! I didn't know what to do, so I left.
Dorian: Leaving Kelly there?
David: Yeah, but I -- I went back, and when I got there, they were gone. They were both gone. The whole room looked like it had been cleaned up. You couldn't tell that there was a fight and -- I guess Paulís probably ok.
Dorian: Where is Paul, and where's Kelly?
Todd: Look what I found. Here you go.
Kelly: Thanks. Sorry I got you involved in this mess.
Todd: Oh, no, no. I'm mostly worried about getting back for Viki.
Kelly: I'm worried about her, too.
Todd: Yeah, she's in a bad way.
Kelly: I'm sorry. I didn't even know I had a brother and now he's dead. And I killed him. I'm a murderer!
Todd: Oh, shh. Shh.
Kelly: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry; I never should've called you. I didn't -- I don't have the right. I don't have the right for anyone to help me!
Todd: Oh, come on, now. We've come too far to give up, haven't we? Huh?
Kelly: Thank you. Thank you. I don't know what I would do without you right now.
Todd: I bet you thought you'd never hear yourself say that.
Stay tuned for scenes from the next "One Life To Live."
On the next "One Life To Live" --
Natalie: John, it's Natalie. I need you.
Blair: Why is she with Todd, anyway?
Kevin: I don't know. That's where she always is lately.
Dorian: I know of a heart that's a match for Vikiís.
Dr. Long: You know too much!
Michael: Marcie, no!
