Marcie: Um, I -- well, I -- you know, do you come up here a lot?

Paul: Well, you know, I am a helicopter pilot, and this is a helicopter pad.

Marcie: Right.

Paul: The question is, what are you doing here?

Marcie: I was -- I was enjoying the view.

Paul: Ah.

Marcie: You know, but I guess you get to see it all the time, right? I have a pass.

Paul: Yeah, it's a temporary with no name. Where'd you get it?

Marcie: Well, I got it from -- well, yeah, I'm new here. I just started working today, and I just haven't had time to go and get my picture taken yet.

Paul: Hmm. Do you have medical training?

Marcie: No. No, I'm an Administrative Assistant.

Paul: Oh. Oh. So, who do you work for?

Marcie: Dr. Wallinoffski.

Paul: Who?

Marcie: Wallinschulski?

Paul: I've never heard of him.

Marcie: Well, I mean, you couldn't possibly know every single doctor that works here, now, could you?

Dorian: Don't know why a doctor's not here yet. Go ahead to Cardiology and check what's going on.

Nurse: Ok.

Dorian: Oh, Viki, please, just hold on. We're going to get a doctor for you. I wish I had not told you all those things about Starr.

Todd: Did you see the way she was calling for us?

Blair: If that ends up being the last time --

Todd: No --

Blair: That I saw her --

Todd: Don't even say it. Ugh. I can't believe I lost her. I'm so sorry. We've lost the ransom. All we have is this junk.

Blair: Well, maybe -- maybe he's got a partner. You think maybe, you know, he swapped it while we were out looking for Starr? Do you --

Todd: Let's hope not. Let's just look through this. Maybe there's something that can tell us what happened.

Blair: I just hope that you find something. Because if he has that money and if he has our little girl, he does not need Starr alive.

Travis: Don't say that.

Todd: Did you get through to your mother?

Travis: Starr's ok. She has to be. I love her!

Starr: Hey, man, you don't want to hurt me, ok? You need me alive for the ransom money.

Laser: Don't you get it? They're not going to pay. They want their damn money more than they want you.

Starr: That's not true! They've got a lot of money!

Laser: Then why did they try to set a trap for me? Why all those cops in the train station?

Starr: Well, maybe they didn't trust you. Just try again.

Laser: Sorry, kid. I got to disappear. And nothing personal -- leaving you alive is a big problem.

Roxy: You let your sister walk out of here with a case full of my cash?

Rex: Excuse me? Whose cash?

Roxy: You know, when you take something that doesn't belong to you, I call that stealing.

Rex: Yeah, I think that was Natalieís point when she told you to give it back.

Roxy: Oh, please. You know, any fruit of my looms -- she's going to keep it all for herself -- or himself, for that matter.

Rex: Where were you when she told you you should turn it in?

Roxy: Not having any of it, that's where I was. You helped her double-cross me. Where'd you put it?

Rex: She wants to be a good citizen, mom, and keep us out of trouble.

Roxy: No, trouble is when you're broke and you have no money at all. She conned you with the warm fuzzies so she could cut us out of this completely.

Rex: Oh, come on! Anytime Nat needs that kind of cash, all she has to do is write herself a check.

Roxy: You know it's a sad day when a girl does the right thing at the expense of her family.

Rex: So?

Roxy: So --

Rex: Disown her. That'll teach her.

Roxy: So, ever since she got married to Cristian Vega, she's been nothing but a hopeless do-gooder.

Rex: She's probably taking it to her Uncle Bo right now.

Roxy: Yeah, just wake up and drink the coffee, would you? If she's going to take it to any cop, she's going to take it straight to Johnny McBain.

Natalie: Roxanne -- she didn't mean to take the money. She thought it was her makeup case. They look the same.

John: It was good of you to bring it in for her.

Natalie: Well, I actually had to replace some of the money. You know, Roxanne, money -- she can't say goodbye.

John: I'll make sure Manning gets it back.

Natalie: Do you think that Starr actually has a chance?

John: All I know is the exchange at the train station didn't go too well.

Natalie: She could be anywhere.

John: Bo just got back. He's the one to talk to about any new leads.

Matthew: Two jacks. I win.

Nora: Ooh!

Daniel: Oh, hey, hey, hey, you cheated! Na-na-na-na-na-na! No fair!

Nora: Hey, look who's here.

Matthew: Bo, did you rescue Starr?

Bo: No, son. We haven't rescued her yet. Ran into a little problem at the train station -- big crowd -- and we lost them.

Matthew: So, where's she now? Still with the bad guy?

Bo: Yeah, Matthew. She's still with the bad guy.

Starr: Listen, Laser, you have to think about this, ok? They already saw you at the train station. This is a big mistake!

Laser: Not as big as you turned out to be.

Starr: Listen, um -- if you let me go now, they might forget about you. But if you hurt me, my dad has killed people in the past, and he might kill you, too.

Laser: Then why isn't he in jail?

Starr: Well, you see, he's -- he's really tight with the police, and him and Commissioner Buchanan are like this and he gets off the hook for everything.

Laser: Then I'm not going near him.

Starr: But you need that money. I mean you can travel around the world. All you have to do is just cut my dad out of the loop.

Laser: How?

Starr: You can call my mom and -- listen, she hates the police. She never listens to them.

Laser: Why should I believe you? You told me your dad hated the cops.

Starr: Well, I -- I know you're serious now, and -- just try her and see, ok? She'd do anything for me.

Laser: I think I still got to use this on you anyway.

[Starr screams]

Starr: What did you do that for?

Todd: Travis --

Blair: Todd.

Todd: Uh -- you're not in love with Starr, ok? I want you to shut up.

Travis: How do you now how I feel?

Todd: You're way too young, ok? Oh, God, I'm not talking about it. I --

Travis: I'm not a kid.

Blair: Our little girl is.

Todd: I'm not letting Starr have a boyfriend until after I'm dead.

Travis: Look, Starrís incredible, Mr. Manning. I don't care how old she is. I mean she even gets me. Nobody gets me! Look, when I'm around Starr everything's great, and that has to be love. Hey, and if you don't understand me, maybe you're the one that's never been in love.

Todd: Fine. Yes, you love her. Your call.

Travis: How do we find her?

Todd: I don't know, but we will. It's a promise.

Dorian: I just spoke to your doctor, and he says you're doing all right.

Viki: Hmm, they keep telling me that.

Dorian: Arrhythmia can be very frightening.

Viki: Would you do me the favor of telling me the truth, please?

Dorian: All right, this is the truth. They want you to stay here for observation for 24 hours at least. They want you to rest.

Viki: Yeah, well, they keep telling me that, too. And I'm not really in a position to argue when I have episodes like this.

Dorian: I'm sorry. I never should've told you so much about Starr.

Viki: Oh, Dorian, no! Come on, she's my niece, she's my family. I love her. I want to know what's going on with her.

Dorian: There's nothing you can do to help her unless you start taking care of yourself.

Viki: Isn't it ironic at this point in our lives that you and I are worrying together about the youngest ones -- Starr and Jack and little Ace.

Dorian: Of course, I could live without their fathers. Oh, I beg your pardon.

Jessica: Mom, are you ok?

Viki: Jessie. Yeah, I'm fine. How did you know I was here?

Jessica: Well, Dorian told me.

Dorian: I'd better be getting home to Blair.

Viki: Dorian? Thank you. Thank you very much.

Dorian: You're welcome. Would you do me a favor? Get well. Bye-bye.

Paul: I'm not getting any reception.

Marcie: I really don't know why you'd want to call Dr. Wallinowski anyway because, you know, he's a Proctologist, and it's not like he has anything for you to transport, so --

Paul: You know, I thought you worked at the police station.

Marcie: I do. I work both places. You know, you're being really, really nosy, ok? I can't afford college. It's really expensive. My scholarship doesn't cover everything, ok?

Paul: Well, if you work for this doctor who's a Proctologist, what are you doing up here?

Marcie: I -- well, Dr. Wallincowski told me to acclimate myself with the hospital and, you know, take a little look around, know where everything is, and -- this is part of the hospital, isn't it? Right?

Paul: Right. Well, take a good look. Here it is. You had enough?

Marcie: What are you, security?

Paul: Well, no, I just have to take off. You know, they really don't like it when I chop people's heads off.

Marcie: You know you actually have a cool job.

Paul: Thanks.

Marcie: So, where are they having you go?

Paul: Anywhere they want me to.

Marcie: Well, I don't want to keep you, so, up, up, and away.

Paul: Actually, I have something I have to do first, but you coming?

Marcie: No. I think I'm going to enjoy the view.

Paul: Right.

Marcie: Don't worry. I'll be gone by the time you come back, I promise.

[Phone rings]

Michael: Hello?

Marcie: Michael?

Michael: Marcie. Where are you? Are you all right?

Marcie: Yeah. Paul Cramer caught me on the roof. But I told him, just in case anyone asks, that I'm working for a Proctologist, ok?

Michael: Wait, wait, wait, hold on a second. Why are you whispering?

Marcie: So Paul won't catch me again. Listen --

Michael: Marcie, where are you?

Marcie: I'm inside on the helicopter and --

Michael: Marcie!

Marcie: It's ok. Listen, I snuck on when he went to make a phone call, and I found the manifest.

Michael: Marcie, get out of there right now.

Marcie: Ok, listen, I got to go anyway. He's coming.

Michael: Marcie -- Marcie, will you --

Marcie: Got to crawl into the cargo bin. Bye.

Natalie: You know, I don't want to bother my Uncle Bo while he's working, so just please let him know --

John: Yeah, I'll tell him you were asking, and --

Natalie: Thanks.

John: Thanks again for bringing the money in. Good luck with Roxy.

Natalie: Yeah, well, if you get any disturbing-the-peace phone calls, that's us at rex's loft.

John: She starts throwing curling irons, I advise you to call for backup.

Natalie: I will, I will. Thanks.

John: All right?

Natalie: Thank you, John.

John: Sure.

Natalie: See you.

Bo: You know, Starrís going to just fine, son.

Matthew: What if the bad guy gets mad and hurts her?

Nora: He can't do that, sweetie. He still needs her help.

Bo: Yeah.

Daniel: You know, I better get out of here before this kid cleans the floor with me.

Nora: Ok, well, if you want a rematch, just give a call.

Daniel: You know I just might do that. See you outside.

Bo: See you.

Nora: Oh, wow, I'm really sorry. We kind of took over your whole office, didn't we?

Bo: I don't care, as long as the home team won.

Matthew: Can I get a soda from the machine?

Bo: Yeah, here. Do me a favor -- get one for me, too.

Nora: And come right back, please.

Matthew: I will.

Nora: Ok, grown-up version. Are we going to get Starr back?

Bo: Yeah, I think so. Because this guy doesn't know Llanview, I got every available cop on the streets. We're going to get him.

Nora: Good.

Bo: So, what's going on with you and Colson? The adult version.

Starr: Answer me! Why did you cut off my hair?

Laser: You want me to cut off your squawking little head?

Starr: No, I was just asking.

Laser: I need to prove I still have you.

Starr: So you're not going to kill me?

Laser: Look, don't get too excited. It's still up to your mom.

Starr: Don't worry; she'll be cool about it. But she already knows that you have me.

Laser: Yeah, but this will make them wonder what I'll send next. Are you looking to die?

Starr: No, I just thought I'd call my mom for you.

Laser: Look, no more tricks, kid, or else I'll have to change my plan.

Todd: Ok, thank you. Yeah. He's going to see about getting that much cash in one day. Where's Travis?

Blair: He went out to check on Starrís new iguana. I think he's a nice boy.

Todd: He's an idiot. Apparently, Starr likes him.

Blair: Will you just look at this beautiful girl of ours. She's so grown up here, and here -- here she is sitting on my lap, just a baby.

Todd: I wish I'd been there when she was born.

Blair: Yeah, me, too.

Todd: Yeah?

Blair: Yeah. I was really -- I was scared. I was so scared. And then when she came along, I was complete. Just look -- look how much she's changed, huh?

Rex: Where you going?

Roxy: I'm going to the cops to claim my cash.

Rex: Wait, first just ask yourself -- is this smart?

Roxy: Duh! Is it smart to get my money?

Rex: Explaining to the cops how you had this much cash. Does anything legal come to mind?

Roxy: Yeah, how about the law of finders keepers?

Rex: No, that expires after kindergarten.

Roxy: You know, I thought you were on my side.

Rex: I am, but do we really need you getting booked for grand larceny?

Roxy: And I'm supposed to do what? I'm supposed to forget that I had that loot in my hot little hands?

Rex: It wasn't in the cards, Rox.

Roxy: All right, so -- all right, I go back, I return the money, and, you know, I just wait for a classy millionaire to give me a reward. Oh, that's just great, just great. Where's my cash?

Natalie: I returned it. I gave it to John.

Roxy: Oh, and who says you can't buy love? Did you impress your little boyfriend?

Natalie: Roxanne, he is not my boyfriend.

Roxy: You know you and John are the only people that don't know that you and John are an item. And, you know, you are so hot to trot, you know, I'd be rolling in the dough right now, just lying naked in the bathtub with all this money.

Natalie: Waiting to be arrested.

Roxy: Guess what -- I am the injured party. Not only that, I lost a case of brand-new makeup.

Blair: So, actually, we're stuck here waiting for this Laser guy to call.

Dorian: Well, that's horrible, honey, but -- Todd, since there isn't any new news, I guess there's nothing to keep you here, hmm? Oh, and you probably want to go over to the hospital.

Todd: Why?

Dorian: Because Vikiís been checked in. She's had another episode.

Todd: And you didn't bother to tell me. What happened?

Dorian: It's another arrhythmia.

Blair: Todd --

Dorian: It's nothing serious, but I know she'd love to see you.

Todd: Be back as soon I I can.

Blair: I'll call you if I hear anything. Send her my love! I --

Dorian: I'm just going to fill him in on his way out. Pardon me.

Blair: What more can we take here? Makeup -- "Foxy Roxyís"?

Dorian: We had a deal, remember? You swore on your children's lives that you would stay away from Blair.

Todd: You want me to abandon her now?

Dorian: I know your M.O. Chaos creates opportunity. You're using Starrís kidnapping to get Blair back in your bed.

Dorian: Well, I'm sure Vikiís going to be happy to see him.

Blair: He's got a lot on his mind, Dorian. Come on.

[Dorian scoffs]

Blair: What, you think he --

[Doorbell rings]

Blair: What is wrong with you? I'll get the door.

Dorian: If that's Todd --

Blair: It's not Todd! Hey.

John: I got your ransom money.

Blair: You got the kidnapper? Where's -- where's --

John: No.

Blair: Where's Starr?

John: No, I'm sorry. Unfortunately, there's nothing new to report. The creep never got anywhere near this, and Roxy accidentally took this home by mistake. She thought it was her case.

Blair: Come in. So it's the makeup, huh?

John: Yeah. Look --

Blair: No, I -- look, we got a --

John: At least this means our guy is still hungry.

Blair: But that would mean he would want Starr alive, right?

John: It makes sense to me. May I?

Blair: Well, what do you want me to do with this?

John: Well, it needs to be logged in just like this was, but after that it can go straight back to Roxy.

Blair: And you'll take care of that for me?

John: Sure. I just -- I need you to acknowledge receipt of this money. If you'll just --

Blair: Ok, where?

John: Sign -- sign here.

Blair: All right.

John: And initial here and here.

Blair: There you go.

John: I'll -- I'll get this out of your way. Hey, look; Bo's got everyone on the street looking for Starr. You hang in there.

Blair: Thank you.

Dorian: Yes, thank you. Thank you very much.

John: You're welcome.

Dorian: See? The police are doing a very good job of it without Todd getting in their way.

Blair: Dorian, we would give everything that we own to get our little girl back.

Dorian: I know that.

[Phone rings]

Dorian: If it's -- if that's Todd on the phone --

Blair: Where's the phone?

Dorian: Just tell him we've already got the --

Blair: Hello?

Laser: Hi, mom. Still want your kid back?

Bo: Yeah, looks like our kidnapper is your guy. But do me a favor -- keep your eyes out there, all right, just in case he doubles back to New York again, ok? All right. Hey, thanks.

Nora: Wow, NYPD knows him?

Bo: Yeah, they do, for a long time. So -- ahem -- you and Colson?

Nora: What? Bo, it was go fish. There's nothing going on.

Bo: That's not the first time that I've seen you two being chummy.

Nora: We're not chummy. We were just -- he was helping me keep Matthewís mind off of Starr.

Bo: Then why all the talk about a rematch?

Nora: I was being nice.

Bo: Nora, you got to remember, see, I'm a trained people observer.

Nora: Ok, Mr. People Observer. If what you saw was Daniel maybe interested in me a little bit, then it's only one-way.

Bo: So you're not holding up your end?

Nora: I'm not holding up anyone's end. I'm not even holding up my end.

Bo: Relax, ok, I'm just teasing you. But I'll tell you something -- if you treat Colson like a human, before you know it, we're all going to be dancing at your wedding.

Nora: Well, maybe you will. Maybe you will.

Roxy: You know, like, maybe you could've waited a little bit. Like, maybe these people were more guilty than us, and maybe they wouldn't have reported it.

Natalie: Roxanne, or maybe the money was for something more important than you.

Rex: Ok, what if I go get changed for the club?

[Knock on door]

Natalie: Ok, guess I'll be getting it. Excuse me. Sorry, we just gave at the office.

John: Thought I'd return the favor.

[Natalie laughs]

John: I believe this belongs to you.

Roxy: Did they steal anything?

John: Well, I was tempted to take a lip-gloss, but I put it back.

Roxy: Ha-ha, very funny. Because I thought, you know, maybe I could, like, sue for damages, get a little reward?

John: Hmm.

Natalie: She's a little short on cash.

John: The lottery is up to 10 million.

Roxy: Goody. This could be my lucky day, unless J.Lo's mother happens to win. Do me a favor, baby -- don't do me any favors, ok?

Natalie: Thank you for bringing that up here. I mean, Roxanne could've gone and gotten it herself.

John: Yeah. But I was kind of hoping you'd still be here.

Jessica: I have some other news.

Viki: Other news?

Jessica: Yes.

Viki: Good or bad?

Jessica: It's good news.

Viki: Oh?

Jessica: I just found out that I was accepted into the Journalism Graduate Program.

Viki: Oh, Jessica! Oh, my goodness, that is fabulous news.

Jessica: Yes, thank you.

Viki: Oh, sweetheart, you've worked so hard. I'm so proud of you!

Jessica: Thanks. It's exciting.

Viki: Yes, it is. Is it a work-study program?

Jessica: It is, actually. I'm going to be doing any media reporting with -- coordinated with schoolwork.

Viki: That's so fabulous!

Jessica: Yeah.

Viki: Of course, you'll do it through "The Banner" -- "The Banner-Sun." I don't think we'll bother Todd with that right now, though.

Jessica: Yeah, and maybe even when Starr gets home safe.

Viki: Is that a problem?

Jessica: I don't know how comfortable I'd feel working for Todd at "The Banner," the way he's been going after Kevin.

Viki: Yeah. Between you and me, I may have made a serious mistake putting him in charge.

Jessica: But I thought he was just going to be a caretaker till you find somebody else.

Viki: Yes, and I made it very clear to him. I also spoke to him very specifically about this kind of yellow journalism.

Jessica: Oh, well, I guess what happened after Blair, it's just -- Kevin is just too tempting of a target, whether it's fair or not.

Viki: I know, and unfortunately, Todd is extremely good at making the most out of very few facts, especially when his motive is personal.

Jessica: Why don't you fire him?

Viki: Three reasons. Number one, I don't have a replacement right now. Number two, I think that Kevin can pass inspection, really. Number three, I'm hoping that Todd will eventually rise to the challenge, you know? Anyway, I just haven't had a chance to make that clear to him yet.

Todd: Hey. Everything all right?

Blair: I -- I still have the money.

Laser: Good. Now listen up. You're not going to tell Starrís dad or the cops about this call. Clear?

Blair: Clear. Is she there? Can I talk to her?

Starr: Mom, I told him he could trust you. Just do what he says, ok?

Blair: Starr.

Laser: That's all you get, mom. Now, you got grab that cash and run. You got to get to Penn Station in New York by 5:00. Go to the southeast phone bank, corner phone. When one of the phones rings, pick it up.

Blair: Will Starr be there?

Laser: Not if you got company.

Blair: No, no, no, no, no, I won't.

Laser: Hey, in case we ain't clear, this is your last chance.

Blair: Ok, you know what? He wants to meet me.

Dorian: What? Blair, wait a minute. You're not going to go and meet him by yourself, are you?

Blair: Yeah, you heard -- yeah --

Dorian: Are you crazy? No, I'm not going to let you --

Blair: We're playing by his rules, Dorian! Ok?

Dorian: So, what, he can kill you and kill Starr? No, give me that money! I'm not letting you go alone.

Blair: Well, then you --, you are.

Dorian: All right, fine. Tell you what -- I'll go with you. Please, let me come with you.

Blair: Dorian -- ok, you know what? Fine. You can go -- let go of it. You can go with me, and when we get the phone call, you can drive me, ok?

Dorian: Well, when is he going to call?

Blair: He told me later. Yeah, just -- you know, he just teases me. He puts Starr on the phone, he lets me hear her, and then he makes me wait!

Dorian: Blair, are you telling me the truth?

[Marcie hums]

Marcie: I'm back!

Michael: Marcie, thank God. I have been going out of my mind. Where you been?

Marcie: I flew all the way to Hayes Hospital and back in the helicopter, and Paul never guessed.

Michael: Ok, don't you ever, ever take a risk like that again, ok? This guy used to be in the military. He's a trained killer, Marcie, a trained killer!

Marcie: Do you want to find out what I found out or not?

Michael: Ok, what'd you get?

Marcie: Well, Paul got off of the helicopter, right, and then I heard the nurse say to him that -- I -- I found out a lot.

Paul: What exactly did you find out?

Blair: Dorian, of course I am telling you the truth. This guy -- he doesn't know Llanview. He's -- he's the one that's got to pick a place.

Dorian: I still think you should call Bo first, please.

Blair: Well, I just -- oh, I'm getting such a headache! I know you have something stashed away somewhere. Would you go get me something, please? You know --

Dorian: Of course, up in my medicine chest. But --

Blair: What?

Dorian: Let me make you some hot milk first, ok?

Blair: Oh, that'd be great.

Dorian: We'll try that. If that doesn't work, then we'll try the pharmaceuticals.

Blair: That would be really, really great. Thank you.

Dorian: Ugh.

Blair: Thanks.

Dorian: You're welcome.

Blair: Thanks, thanks. I'll be in the living room!

Viki: Is there any word on Starr? And what happened to you?

Todd: No, there's no word as of yet, and I got beaten up. Long story. The cops lost her. It's --

Viki: Did Starr see you? Did you see Starr?

Todd: Yes.

Viki: Aha. Well, if you saw her, and if she saw you, I'm sure that gave her hope, right?

Todd: Yeah. I don't know, I guess. Anyway, I'm waiting for a phone call right now.

Viki: I know how much you love her. You holding up all right?

Todd: Oh, boy. Staying strong, keeping my wits about me for Blairís sake, making sure I pretend that I'm not scared out of my mind. Viki, you remember the first time that I saw her? You brought her to me in the attic?

Viki: Oh, yeah. It was quite a look on your face.

Todd: Yeah. I could hold her in one arm.

Viki: Mm-hmm.

Todd: What happens now? What happens? What do I do if I never get to hold her again?

Viki: You will. Starr is equally as stubborn as you are. You will see her again.

Jessica: Well, it's official. You're spending the night.

Viki: Oh.

Todd: I guess I should go. See you later.

Jessica: Can you call me if you hear anything about Starr?

Todd: Yeah.

Jessica: Ok. Good luck.

Natalie: You know there's not a day that goes by that I'm not worrying about mom. You know is this the day I'm going to get the phone call, the day she doesn't make it?

John: Jess said she was doing better.

Natalie: Yeah, today. I mean, we dodged a bullet, but -- it's just way too soon to lose her.

John: It always is.

Natalie: I feel like I've only known her for a little while, you know? It took too long to get anything like close. And she's already -- she's giving away her things to me, I mean, like she's not going to need them anymore and I just don't think I -- I just don't think I could lose another --

John: Come here. It's ok. It's ok. It's ok. Hey, look at me. It's going to be ok.

Natalie: You said when you came to see me that you hoped I was here. Why?

[Rex whistles]

Rex: Whoa! Sorry to interrupt. Wait a second -- this is my apartment!

John: I have to get back to the station.

Natalie: Yeah.

John: Yeah.

Natalie: Ok.

John: Ok.

Natalie: Ahem. See you around.

Rex: I got to stop by the club. Hang here if you want.

Natalie: Bye.

[Knock on door]

Natalie: Rex? Is that you?

[Knock on door]

Natalie: Rex? Is that you?

[John hums "Ode To Joy"]

Nora: Well, this is a different John McBain than I'm used to seeing.

John: How so?

Nora: You're happy.

John: I'm not happy. I was just --

Nora: Humming

John: I wasn't humming.

Nora: Humming.

John: No, I --

Nora: Yeah, I heard humming, humming.

[Nora hums "Ode To Joy"]

John: I -- I wasn't humming, and if -- if I was, I mean, it's no big deal. Ok?

Nora: Ok.

John: Ok.

Nora: Ok. Definitely happy because he was humming.

Marcie: Well, see, I was just about to tell Michael that I found out a lot about the hospital. Like, did you know that the cafeteria burgers -- they're half the price that they are at Rodiís.

Paul: Wow, wow.

Marcie: Mm-hmm.

Paul: Why is that so exciting?

Marcie: Well, um --

Michael: Well, if that's what you're eating every day, you know, it is exciting because, you know, a penny saved, a penny earned, and all that good stuff.

Marcie: There you go. Hey, I heard that you were going off somewhere on the helicopter.

Paul: I did, I did. I'm back now.

Michael: Great. So, what brings you by?

Paul: You know, I just decided to stop by, see how the old leg is doing.

Michael: Oh, well, it's doing. Thanks for stopping by.

Paul: All righty. You take it easy.

Michael: Will do.

Paul: Yeah.

Marcie: Bye. See you around. Oh, no, you don't think he's suspicious, do you?

Michael: No, I think that if he knew that you'd stowed away on his flight, you'd already be in trouble.

Marcie: Yeah, but he's certainly keeping an eye on us, isn't he?

Michael: Well, until he knows what we know, I think we're ok.

Marcie: Ok.

Michael: So, what'd you find out?

Marcie: Well, Paul got off of the helicopter carrying a medical cooler. And then I heard the nurse say to him that there was a really rich European businessman -- he was all prepped for surgery and ready to go.

Michael: What kind of surgery?

Marcie: Well, he was about to have a heart transplant. He had to have been carrying the heart that was stolen here today from the hospital.

Viki: Wow, this is a remarkable essay, really remarkable. Did you read absolutely everything that I wrote when I was first at "The Banner"?

Jessica: Well, you have to learn from the best.

Viki: I'm touched that you felt so strongly about it. And I'm not in the slightest surprised that they accepted you into the journalism program.

Jessica: Well, I guess I've just been worried about the paper's reputation now that Toddís taken over.

Viki: He has very strong feelings about defending his family, you know, and perhaps he's not all wrong.

Jessica: So, what are you saying? I should throw in with him? Give him a chance?

Viki: I don't know, honey. I really donít. That has to be up to you.

Jessica: I guess me working there might increase the odds of him doing the right thing.

Viki: It might, yes. You have a very unique gift for believing in him that not a lot of people share.

Jessica: Ok. Ok, I'm in.

Viki: Really?

Jessica: Mm-hmm.

Viki: All right. Just remember that you absolutely have to temper your faith with a lot of healthy realism because Todd may very well not live up to our hopes for him, you know? He's still a very big mystery, even to me.

Dorian: Blair? Sweetheart?

Todd: Dorian, any word?

Dorian: Well, Blair did get a call from the kidnapper, and he said he would call back and set up a meeting.

Todd: Where is Blair?

Dorian: She said she had a headache and was going to go lie down, but --

Todd: What's going on, Dorian?

Dorian: I'm getting an awful feeling about this.

Todd: What?

Dorian: That detective came by -- McBain -- whatever. He -- he had found some -- some or all of the ransom money -- I'm not sure -- and he left it here. But now it's gone. What if Blair has gone to meet the kidnapper all by herself?
