Michael: You know, this whole thing could just be a really terrible coincidence.
Marcie: Michael, two people I know die exactly the same way as two characters in my book? What are the chances?
Michael: Ok. Not so good.
Marcie: And John already said, you know, that Julie didn't die in that car accident, she was murdered. And you know that fire that Hudson died in? That wasn't an accident either.
Evangeline: Ok, why don't we not jump to conclusions, you know? Why don't we just wait until John gets back?
Evangeline: If there's something at the site of that fire, you can bet he'll find it.
John: What do you got? So according to this, the vic falls down the stairs, accidentally kicks over a gas can.
Officer: Hell of a place to store gas.
John: Unless it was put there on purpose. Hits his head, blacks out, dies in the fire.
Officer: You looking for anything in particular?
John: Got your flashlight?
John: It's ok. It's going to be ok.
Natalie: Stop it, Natalie. You have to forget about that.
Viki: Forget about what?
Logan: That was incredible.
Logan: God, you're beautiful. You don't really have to go, do you?
Tess: Afraid so.
Tess: But if I play things right, I'll never have to leave again.
Antonio: Thanks, Mami.
Carlotta: Custody papers?
Antonio: Yeah, Evangeline suggested I take a look.
Carlotta: Anything I can do to help?
Antonio: Try not to worry. I'm Jamie's father, mMami. I'm going to get her back.
Carlotta: Even if R.J. Lies to the judge?
Antonio: Well, I've got the truth on my side.
Carlotta: Right and you've got Jessica on your side, too.
Bo: I want to start a search of this building floor by floor. As soon as backup gets here, I want a grid search of the grounds, all right? And if you find Manning, I want him right here. No, wait, just --
Todd: Yeah, it's me.
Blair: No. No, it can't be. You're dead.
Todd: Oh, yeah, I probably should be, but I'm still kicking.
Blair: No. No, you're not here. No.
Todd: No, it's ok.
Todd: It's ok. I'm here, I'm real, and I'm going to take you home.
Bo: This is the commissioner. I'm at Wingdale institute. We've got a woman trapped out on the ledge of the building. I need emergency services here and a crisis negotiator, ASAP.
Officer: 10-4, commissioner. They are en route.
Officer: I'll get right up there.
Bo: No, no, just stay here and stay calm, be quiet. The last thing we need is for Blair to panic.
Todd: Hey, look, I don't blame you for wanting to blow this dump, but why don't we go out the front door? Come on, honey, just reach for my hand.
Blair: No, no, he's not real, he's not real. You're not real.
Todd: No, I'm real. I'm real. I'm right here.
Blair: No, so many times I dreamed that you'd save me and everything would be all right.
Todd: And here I am.
Blair: No, it's a trick. It's a trick. No, Asa -- Asa did this. I'm not going back in there!
Todd: Asa's not anywhere around here. He's not inside. Now, come on, let's go.
Blair: No! Stay away from me or I'll jump, I swear.
Evangeline: You know, the heroine in your book is a lot like you.
Marcie: That's just because it's written in the first person. No, I'm nothing like Jamie. You know, she's successful, intelligent, and beautiful and --
Michael: Yeah, just like you.
Evangeline: You know, she grew up in New Jersey with her father and brothers.
Marcie: Yeah, yeah, I'll give you that. But, she's a cop.
Michael: You worked for the cops.
Evangeline: Busted again, Marcie.
Marcie: Well, she does kind of always stick her foot in her mouth like I do and I always wanted to be an investigator like she is.
Michael: You know, you did give Jamie some help. Don't forget about Rod.
Evangeline: Right. Right. He's crazy about her, but he doesn't know what to do about it. Hmm. Yeah, pure fiction.
John: So we got an indentation in the north wall. Looks like someone used a hammer and we've got a nail in the south wall. You got your pliers?
Officer: Yeah. Here you go.
John: Looks like we got a little fragment of wire attached to the nail.
Officer: What do you think it is?
John: Well, looks like someone stretched a wire from this nail in the south wall over to another nail, which is where this indentation was. All designed to trip the victim down the staircase.
Officer: So it wasn't an accident?
John: No. We got ourselves a homicide.
Logan: Good, you're still here.
Tess: Yeah. I was wondering if maybe you could do me a favor.
Logan: Yeah, name it.
Tess: When you go back to Australia, would you mind mailing something for me?
Logan: Is it legal?
Tess: Oh, come on. Of course, it's legal. It's just I have this friend. She's kind of a dork. You know, she collects stamps and -- postmarked stamps as that -- and I don't think she has one from Australia yet.
Logan: Oh. Yeah, sure, I'll do it.
Tess: Excellent. Why, thank you.
Logan: It's not addressed, so --
tess: Of course not. That was the other part of the favor. You see, I don't want her to know that it's from me until she opens it, so I was wondering if maybe you could do that?
Logan: Whatever you want.
Tess: Great. So it's going to Jessica Buchanan, 1177 regency drive --
Viki: Hi, baby. Can I help?
Natalie: No. I mean, thank you, but I don't think anyone can help. It's just another one of Roxy's crazy ideas.
Viki: Oh, dear. How crazy, hmm? You don't want to talk about it, do you? No.
Natalie: No. But, you know, she really outdid herself this time. Roxy threw this surprise party for John for his birthday and then blamed it on me and then -- and then she -- as if that wasn't bad enough -- she locked John and me in the evidence room together alone. I mean, I just want to disappear, mom.
Viki: Baby, I'm sure that John understands that it wasn't you plotting to put you two together, right?
Natalie: Yeah, but I like it when we're together and I know that I can't or shouldn't. You know what, I won't. I won't, not anymore.
Viki: You won't what? Daydream? Wonder "what if?"
Natalie: I know. It's so wrong. I mean, not to mention stupid.
Viki: No, it is absolutely not either of those things. Darling, it's how you're feeling. See, as I see it, the problem here is that even if John returns your feelings, he's not exactly free to act on them. I don't want you to be hurt again.
Kelly: Look, I'm sure your dad is doing everything he can to find your mom.
Starr: He would be answering his cell phone if he was still just looking, ok? He probably already found her and they're on their way back home.
Kelly: I hope you're right.
Starr: I am right, ok? I was right before, wasn't I? When my dad was kidnapped and everybody thought that he left us, I never believed that.
Kevin: She's got a point.
Starr: You know what, dad's probably just so excited that he found her that he's not even answering. I better go try again.
Antonio: I owe a lot to Jessica. She's the one that showed me I could take this inheritance and do some good.
Carlotta: And she was right and now you have Evangeline helping you to get Jamie back and the emergency fund you set up to help the people of Angel Square. Do you know how proud I am of you? You're a good man, Antonio.
Antonio: Thanks. But, there's something else I want to do.
Carlotta: Oh? What's that?
Antonio: Well, have you ever thought about what it would be like not to -- not to work anymore?
Carlotta: Antonio, what are you saying? I'm too young to -- you think I should retire?
Antonio: No, no, no. It's just that you've been, you know, working so hard for so many years.
Carlotta: Antonio, I don't know what to say.
Antonio: Mami, I really want to do this for you.
Carlotta: And, you know, I am very, very grateful, but, no, I could never give up this place. This was our dream, Diego's and mine, and I love working here. If I didn't go home every night tired to the bone, I wouldn't feel like I was alive.
Antonio: Yeah, yeah, I figured you'd say that.
Carlotta: But since you're in such a generous mood, you could look at the ice machine and save me that call to the repair shop.
Antonio: Tell you what -- why don't I just buy you a new one?
Carlotta: Now, that's an offer I'd be a fool to refuse. Thank you.
Logan: At least let me pay for your cab, ok?
Tess: "At least"? What's the most that you'd do for me?
Logan: I could buy you the cab.
Tess: Oh, please.
Logan: I'm just trying to be a gentleman here.
Tess: Oh, I liked it much better when you were bad and, you know, if it isn't apparent already, I don't need any gentlemen looking after me.
Logan: Yeah, I get that.
Tess: Yeah, and I also don't need guards watching when I come and when I go.
Logan: Guards? Should I be worried?
Tess: No, no, no, no, no. It's just family trouble, you know? They don't really approve of my lifestyle.
Logan: Yeah, I wonder why.
Tess: Yeah, and you know, I got a little carried away throwing a couple pranks around the house, and -- guess I went a little far with that elevator thing.
Logan: What did you do?
Tess: Doesn't matter. It's just not fun anymore. All this new security -- it's just such a hassle. I can handle it, though. Pretty soon I'll be able to come and go and do whatever I want.
Logan: Yeah, well, if you ever make it to Australia, you'd better look me up, ok? I'm going to hit the shower.
Tess: Australia. Perfect. Acne can be so frustrating.
Viki: You know, darling, I have a pretty fair idea of what you're going through. I was in a similar situation with your father years ago.
Natalie: What happened?
Viki: Well, Clint and I had been apart for a long time. I mean, I had been married in the meantime to Sloan, and, of course, Sloan died.
Viki: But there were still residual feelings between us -- I mean, between Clint and me -- and something was always happening. There was always some reason why we were close.
Natalie: Yeah, sounds familiar.
Natalie: So, what'd you do?
Viki: Well, I vacillated for a long time and then I thought, "Well, I'm going to give it a shot." I thought, "I'll take a chance and try to be with your father again." By the time I decided that, it was too late. He had married Lindsay.
Natalie: Yeah, but from what I heard, he didn't really love Lindsay, not like you.
Viki: Be that as it may, he was married, and I had to face the fact that he was with someone else and that I could no longer turn to him as I always had in the past.
Natalie: So it must have been hard for you, huh?
Viki: Yeah, at first. I mean, I had to let go, and I did. But, then the most wonderful thing happened.
Natalie: You met Ben.
Viki: Oh, Natalie, we loved each other so much. Anyway, I think what I'm trying to tell you is that if you are just going to wait for john to be free, you'll never know if there's something out there waiting for you.
Louie: Ms. Buchanan, I didn't know you'd gone out.
Tess: Louie, I'm so happy you're here. I can trust you, right?
Louie: Sure, Ms. Buchanan.
Tess: Oh, please, you know, you can call me Jessica. It's just us guys here, you know and you can also keep my secret for me, right, and not tell anybody that I went out tonight?
Louie: I have to monitor every exit and entrance --
Tess: Oh, blah, blah, blah. Come on, Louie. Just this once? Please, please, please, please?
Louie: It's my job to keep you safe.
Tess: I know it is! I know! And you do such a good job. But, you know what? I look ok, don't I? Huh? Come on, Louie, just this once? Please, please, please?
Louie: Ok, just this once.
Tess: Thank you very much.
Tess: I think that I'm going to go through the front door. Night, Louie.
Antonio: Yes, hi. This is Antonio Vega, account number 31370. Last four digits 0189. Yes, that's correct. I'd like to transfer some money into my checking. What other withdrawal? No. Today? No, no, uh-uh. How much?
Starr: There's nothing on the radio about my mom and dad, and my dad still isn't answering his phone, so I really think that we should go to the police station.
Kelly: Honey, we would just be in the way there.
Starr: Well, maybe if we get in the way, they'll actually do something.
Kelly: Bo will call us if he hears anything.
Starr: Yeah, right. We need to go now.
Kevin: All right, look, if we don't hear something in the next hour, I'll take you there myself.
Starr: Whatever. I have to go to the ladies' room.
Kelly: I wish there was something I could do besides buy her ice cream.
Kevin: There's nothing any of us can do until we know something.
Kelly: So you said you wanted me to help you with something. What?
Kevin: It's this whole embezzlement farce at L.U.
Kelly: Oh, that's ridiculous. I can't believe they would accuse Viki of anything.
Kevin: Well, there's nothing better that the governor would like to do than make it look like I'm caught up in it. It's a perfect chance to force me out.
Kelly: You really think it's going to go that far?
Kevin: Yeah, I don't know. Doesn't make any difference at this point.
Kelly: Well, of course it does. Why would you say that?
Kevin: Because every time I try to make a move, I get stonewalled. I mean, look at my initiative on missing children. It's been held up in committee. I can't get anything worthwhile done. I just -- I don't want to disappoint the people who elected me, who believe in me.
Kelly: You won't, as long as you're honest about what you stand for. But, I don't understand how I can help.
Kevin: You just did.
Kelly: What'd I do?
Kevin: Just listened, you know, like you always used to when I'd go on and on and on.
Kelly: I was never bored.
Kevin: Yeah. Oh, I miss that, talking to you. Used to be so easy.
Kelly: Yeah, it was. I'm going to go check on Starr.
Kelly: Did she come back out here?
Kevin: No. Why?
Kelly: Starr's gone.
Bo: Well, where's the crisis negotiator? How long till those air bags get here?
Officer: Time's not a problem. I don't know if the air bags will break a fall from that height.
Bo: All right, what about rappelling off the roof?
Officer: Maybe, but we've got to sort a few things out first. We got to get these lights on.
Bo: All right, do what you got to do, but hurry.
Todd: Blair, it's me, Todd. I love you. I'm not going to hurt you. I'd never hurt you. Come on.
Blair: No, you're not real. He's not real.
Todd: I am real. Now, I need you. Your children need you. Blair? Look at me now. Don't you want to have that wedding? Come on, we're going to have that wedding, just the way we planned it, the way we wanted it. I'm going to dance with Dorian. Come on, let me take you home. That's right.
Todd: That's right, I'm right here.
Blair: You didn't die?
Todd: No, I didn't die. Here I am! Come on, now, let's blow this joint.
Blair: I can't.
Todd: Yes, you can.
Blair: I can't. I'm afraid to move.
Todd: No, you can. I want you to take a few steps. Just take a few steps. Come on, you can do it. That's right. Keep going. No, no -- no, don't look down. Don't look down!
Todd: Blair. Blair. Blair.
Bo: Stay here. Stay on your radio.
Todd: Don't look down!
Blair: Oh, my god.
Todd: It's ok, it's ok. Don't look down again.
Blair: Uh-uh, I can't.
Todd: Yes, you can. It's a couple steps and I'm going to grab you. I'm right here.
Blair: No, I can't. I can't move.
Todd: Yes, you can. Come on.
Blair: I can't, Todd. I feel like I'm going to fall.
Todd: No, you're not going to fall.
Blair: I'm dizzy.
Todd: No, you're not going to fall. You're going to take a couple steps and I'm going to grab you and we're going to go home --
Blair: I can't do it!
Todd: And we're going to -- all right, all right, I'm going to come get you.
Starr: How did you find me?
Kevin: Well, I knew you'd take the shortest route to the police station.
Starr: I had to. I knew you guys wouldn't.
Kevin: So you just took off? Can't disappear like that, Starr. You scared Kelly. It's bad enough that your mom's missing.
Starr: You know why I had to leave. I need to know what's going on with my mom.
Kevin: Look, I know that waiting is the most frustrating thing in the world, ok? I know that.
Starr: No, you don't. You hate my dad, and I know you do.
Kevin: Look, your dad and I have had our differences, that's true. But, I wouldn't wish on anyone what happened to him.
Starr: And out of everybody that was looking for him, you were the one that found him.
Kevin: Weird how stuff works out like that.
Starr: Yeah. Well, I thank you for that and I'm sorry about Ace. You must really miss him.
Kevin: Yep, I do, about as much as you miss your mom. You know what I did after I said goodbye to Ace? I sat down and I cried.
Starr: You did?
Kevin: I did, for a long time and I didn't care who was there or what they thought, because I loved him and I miss him nd I knew that that was nothing to be embarrassed about.
Starr: I'm so scared. I miss my mom so much.
Kevin: I know you do.
Kelly: Hey. Did you find Starr?
Kevin: Yeah, she's right here.
Kelly: Where are you?
Kevin: The love center.
Kelly: Ok, I'll be right there.
Kevin: That's ok. I'll bring her back soon. We're going to hang out for a little while.
Kelly: All right. Thank you. Thanks a lot.
Kevin: No sweat. I'll see you soon.
Antonio: You ok?
Kelly: Yeah, I'm just worried about Blair.
Antonio: Any word?
Kelly: We're all just trying to stay hopeful.
Antonio: Yeah, I -- I know what you mean.
Kelly: Hey, how's your little girl? I haven't seen her in a while.
Antonio: Me neither. Not as much as I'd like, anyway. She's -- she's living with R.J. Now by court order, and he's fighting me for full custody.
Kelly: You've got to be kidding. How could he possibly win? You're her father.
Antonio: Well, he won't, but that's not going to stop him from trying.
Kelly: Well, I know a good lawyer.
Antonio: Yeah? I hired her.
Antonio: Yeah, she's my saving grace. She and Jessica are the ones that keep me grounded.
Kelly: So how are things going between you two?
Antonio: You know, a day at a time.
Natalie: No, I hear what you're saying, mom. I mean, all the things that you've said I've said to myself many a time. I just need to start listening, I guess.
Viki: Well, you will. You know what? I have absolute confidence in you.
Natalie: Gosh, you know, and I shouldn't be saying any of this to you right now. You've got so much on your mind with the whole Blair thing and this stupid investigation.
Viki: Ok, I'm going to say this one more time. Nothing ever, ever, ever comes before my children. Ok?
Natalie: Thanks, mom. You've given me a lot to think about -- I mean, of course, you always do. I don't know how you do it, mom. It's like you see straight into my heart.
Viki: Honey, I think mothers sometimes see things in their children that no one else can.
Viki: Jessica? Is something wrong?
Tess: No, no, everything's fine.
Tess: I'm fine. Fine.
Viki: No, you're not. There's obviously something wrong. You are clearly not yourself.
Tess: Of course I'm myself. I mean, look at me. See? Right here.
Viki: I am looking. Honey, you look tired. Have you been asleep?
Tess: I went up to bed early and I just -- I couldn't stay asleep.
Natalie: Yeah, well, no wonder. You never go to bed this early.
Viki: Why don't you come in and sit with us for a few minutes?
Tess: It's just that I'm so worried about you, mom. I mean, unbelievable. How can you be so calm?
Natalie: Yeah, that's what I said.
Tess: Yeah. I mean, like anybody would really believe that you would steal money from the university? I mean, to have your character assassinated -- and by your own paper, nonetheless. I mean, come on, it's criminal for you to have to really clear your name when it's obvious that you're innocent.
Viki: You know, it's funny, you two are always far more upset than I am when you feel that I've been wronged. I mean, I think that's incredibly sweet. But, you're right, the charges are unfounded, and I will prove them wrong.
Tess: And if there's anything that we can do, just -- you know, we'll do it.
Viki: Ok, there's something you can both do for me right now, ok? Actually, I can have a hug. You too, Natalie.
Kelly: You know, I saw jJessica right after her wedding to Tico, and all we talked about was you.
Kelly: She tried to deny it, but I know she still loves you.
Antonio: Yeah, well, I wish I could go back and change some of the things I did.
Kelly: I'm sure she feels the same way. But, it seems like you two are working things out.
Antonio: Well, things have gotten better, but I still think she's holding back.
Kelly: There something wrong?
Antonio: Well, she doesn't like when I'm being overprotective, so I don't want to push.
Kelly: Well, I tell you what, I'll talk to her for you and don't give up hope. If you two still really love each other, then you'll end up together. I really believe that.
Marcie: What'd you think?
Evangeline: You had me fooled.
Evangeline: I never saw it coming. I never would've guessed who the killer was.
Michael: Hope John has better luck.
[Knock on door]
Evangeline: Let's see. Oh, hey.
Marcie: What happened at Hudson's place? Did you find anything out?
John: This doesn't go beyond this room, all right?
John: Someone strung a wire at the top of the basement steps to trip your friend.
Marcie: Somebody set him up to fall.
John: Then they set the fire, same as the vic in your book.
Marcie: And Julie died just like the other character.
Michael: So it's true. Some nut case read your book and now he's copying the murders.
John: All right, now, wait. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but all the victims in your book, they were connected, right? They were members of some kind of club?
Marcie: Julie and Hudson weren't part of "killing club."
John: No, but they did have something in common.
Marcie: Yeah. They had me in common.
Todd: You just sit tight. I'll be right there.
Blair: No! You stay there.
Todd: It's all right, I'm going to take it real slow.
Blair: Todd, look, if we both fall, our children won't --
Todd: No, we're not going to fall! We're going to go home.
Bo: Don't do it! E.S.U.'s on the way. Let us help you, Manning! Come on, open the door!
Evangeline: Marcie, you're not the only link between Hudson and Julie. They were both a part of that group that rebuilt the community center, right?
Marcie: The love crew.
John: Well, it seems the killer is targeting that group.
Michael: Well, our cousin Shannon is a part of that group.
John: I already talked to her. She's got 24-hour protection. Who else is on the list besides Shannon?
Marcie: Jen, Riley, Mark, and Nick. I mean, you think some person who read my book might go after them?
John: I don't know. But, two of the people on that list have been murdered, so what I need to know right now is how the other victims in your book were killed.
Kelly: Oh, Carlotta, could you turn the radio on? There might be some news about Blair.
Carlotta: Oh, I'm sorry, honey, it's not working.
Kelly: Oh. Ok. I'll just call Viki, see if she's heard anything.
Carlotta: Give Viki my love and tell her I'm praying for Blair and the children.
Kelly: I will. I should take off. Good luck with everything.
Antonio: Yeah. Yeah, you, too. So, Mami, I'll cut you a check in the morning. You can start shopping for the ice machine and while you're at it, why don't you get a new radio?
Carlotta: Antonio, no. I couldn't let you do that. No, the icemaker really was just too much already.
Antonio: You want me to be happy?
Carlotta: You know that I do.
Antonio: Then buy the radio. What?
Carlotta: No matter where it came from, I knew that money couldn't change you. The person you truly are inside is who you'll always be, and that's the Antonio that'll win out.
Viki: That was Kelly, wondering if I'd heard from Todd. Lord, I wish he would call me.
Natalie: You know, mom, you're really worrying about all this. You must be stressing out.
Tess: She's right, mom.
Natalie: You know, all we can do right now is wait, so why don't you go get some rest?
Viki: Ok, I think I will, ok? But, wake me if you hear anything.
Natalie: Of course.
Viki: Will you?
Natalie: Yes, of course, I promise.
Viki: See you later. Oh, do me a favor -- just wake me in an hour even if you don't hear anything, ok?
Tess: Will do.
Natalie: Good night, mom.
Viki: Good night.
Natalie: I got to get going. I got to get to the police station. I'm doing a late shift tonight. But, I will call if there's any news on Blair or anything like that.
Tess: Ok, sure.
Natalie: Hey, Jess? You want to tell me what's going on, what you didn't want to tell mom?
Tess: There's nothing going on. I'm fine.
Natalie: You know, I am your twin. My little radar's going up.
Tess: Well, you can put your little radar down because there's nothing going on, ok?
Natalie: Ok. If you don't want to tell me, you don't have to. But, if you change your mind, you know where I'm going to be, all right?
Tess: Okey-dokes. So painful. God.
Tess: Guess I don't have to worry about mom and soon, won't have to worry about the guards, either. Won't have to worry about anything.
Starr: You're not going to tell anybody about this, are you?
Kevin: Tell anybody about what?
Kevin: Sure. So you about ready to head back for the diner, hmm?
Starr: I still have to find out about my mom and dad.
Kevin: Well, then we'll just have to go by the police station first, won't we?
Kevin: Well, I'm still lieutenant governor. Let's see if I have any pull left to get some information, huh?
Bo: Manning! Open the door! Manning! Manning, you're going to screw up!
Blair: Please go back inside, Todd . Please.
Todd: It's ok, I'm coming to get you.
Bo: Manning! You're going to blow it! Is that what you want?
Blair: Todd, just be careful, please.
Todd: Don't look down. Don't look down. Look at me, look at me. Only me. Look at me. Take my hand now.
Todd: That's right.
>> On the next "One Life to Live" --
Kevin: You want to find the bad guy? Look in the mirror.
Nora: No, nothing happened when they were locked in an evidence room.
Evangeline: Well, I never said that.
Natalie: The time we spent together -- it may not have been a big deal to you, but it was a very big deal to me.
Todd: Don't look down!
Blair: I feel dizzy. I can't see straight. I can't --
Todd: No! Blair!
