John: "Turning into Glen Valley, I could see the smoke, then smell it. As soon as I took the right into Windsor lane, I knew it was Ben's house on fire. When I saw how bad it was, my hands went on hot on the wheel. The big ladder truck had pulled up on the lawn. Black-and-whites blocked off the street. Neighbors stood watching from the sidewalks. E.M.S. was in the driveway, and two paramedics were lifting the gurney with a body lumped into the back of the van."
Evangeline: Why are you stopping?
John: The character in the book, dying like that -- it made me think about that kid Hudson.
Evangeline: The guy that lived in that house with your cousin Shannon?
John: Yeah. Marcie lived there, too.
Evangeline: So, Marcie writes about a fire, and then a friend of hers dies in one.
John: Yeah. Weird.
Marcie: Just think about it, Michael. Julie and Hudson died like two of the characters in my book.
Michael: Not exactly.
Marcie: Hudson died in a fire. Julie died in a car crash.
Michael: Yeah. But, your characters were murdered. Julie and Hudson in accidents.
Marcie: That's what I'm trying to say, Michael. What if they weren't accidents?
Nora: God -- oh --
Nora: Don't do -- you just -- sitting there, you looked like a --
Daniel: A what?
Nora: Oh, a killer! Oh.
Daniel: Well, you know, how many killers do you know that can whip up a world-class chopped salad, huh?
Nora: Well, that's -- that's very sweet of you. I'm not really all that hungry right now, as a matter of fact.
Daniel: Oh, well --
Nora: I'd rather do other things.
Daniel: Well, you know, I really have a mountain of paperwork to do.
Nora: Yeah, your mountain of paperwork can wait. I can't.
Todd: Blair? What happened to her? You said she was in this room.
Dr. Cornell: I don't understand. She was.
Todd: Well, she's not now. What'd you do with her? Where is she?
Nora: Um --
Daniel: Um -- um what?
Nora: Um -- this is -- this is not -- this is a mood killer.
Daniel: I kind of thought it was a little kinky myself.
Daniel: No, no, I guess not. Well, I'll tell you what, I promise, no -- no knives on the wedding night, ok?
Nora: I'm going to hold you to that.
Daniel: All right. So, how's the wedding dress shopping going?
Nora: Oh, it's beautiful. I found one, and it's just beautiful. I can't wait for you to see it.
Daniel: Great. Let's have a look.
Nora: Uh-uh. That's bad luck.
Daniel: Well, I thought it was only bad luck if the groom saw the bride in the dress.
Nora: You know what? I don't want to push my luck.
Daniel: It's that bad, huh?
Nora: No. Well, you know what? My track record with marriage hasn't been good. I just don't want to risk the odds because it just feels too good to risk.
Daniel: That's because it is. You've changed me, Nora. I'm a different man and everything I do, it's for you. It's -- it's for us. I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy.
Nora: Well, no one's ever said that to me before. Frankly, I didn't think anyone ever would. Well, I guess you're -- you really know how to push all the right buttons, don't you?
Daniel: I got a couple more that I could push, like right there and like right there and there and there and there --
Nora: Oh, there's a good one. That was good.
Jen: I'm not up for this.
Rex: It's what you need.
Jen: This is what got me into trouble with Riley in the first place -- drinking with you.
Rex: It's the with-me part that burns him.
Jen: No, it's the lying-to-him part.
Rex: Relax. I'll get you something to take the edge off, ok? A couple of blue margaritas over here.
Jen: No, I'm not going to do that again.
Rex: Make them virgins. Is that better?
Jen: Nothing's going to make this better.
Rex: Tell me what's going on.
Jen: I'm going to Statesville prison, that's what's going on.
Rex: Not if you get rid of those bank deposit slips. You did, didn't you? Jen, tell me you listened to me.
Jen: I did.
Rex: But not Riley? He rat you out?
Jen: No. No. He just -- he wants to find out who planted the deposit slips so that he can help me.
Rex: By running to daddy?
Jen: Well, I'm not sure that that's what he did.
Rex: Sure, he is, the spineless punk.
Jen: Shut up, ok? If you're going to act like that, then I'm just leaving right now.
Rex: No, no, no, no, no. I'm sorry. I apologize.
Jen: Maybe Riley's right. Maybe if they just find out who planted the deposit slips, then we'll find out who the killer is and this will just be over.
Rex: That's if they believe you and start looking for somebody else. Jen, this makes you look really bad.
Jen: I know. What am I supposed to do?
Rex: Just don't worry, don't worry, don't worry. Look, I'll think of something, ok? I'm not going to let you go down for this.
Jen: Oh, great. Marcie and Michael are here. I can't deal with them right now. I can't deal with anybody.
Rex: But me? Come here.
Michael: John asked me not to say anything, but he's been asking a lot of questions about Julie, you know, how she died.
Marcie: He was suspicious?
Michael: Yeah. If what you're saying is true -- if Hudson and Julie were murdered like characters in your book --
Marcie: Then there's a possibility that there's a copycat out there.
Marcie: Which would mean that I'm responsible for Julie and Hudson's death.
Michael: No, no, that is not true, ok? All you did was write a book, sweetie.
Marcie: And if I hadn't written the book, Michael, then Julie and Hudson might still be alive.
Michael: We don't know that, and we don't know that these aren't accidents.
Marcie: Michael, one, maybe, but two people? Come on, even you have got to admit it's a little strange for it to just be a coincidence.
Michael: Maybe we should talk to my brother.
Evangeline: So this character that dies in the fire --
Evangeline: What happens next?
John: "Looks like he fell down his basement steps. Went down probably because some fuses blew. Kicked over a gas can."
Evangeline: What? John, what is it?
John: Hudson Prescott -- he was found at the bottom of his basement stairs. The fire marshal said something about -- he thought he had accidentally kicked over a gas can.
Evangeline: Oh, my god.
John: This thing is kind of a murder mystery, right? So, what are the chances that this character Ben didn't die by accident?
Evangeline: Zero to none.
Evangeline: Especially if you're thinking --
John: "I checked the blackened residue on the doorjambs. About six inches up the floor, there was an almost undetectable pinhole of raw wood. Above the spine, I could feel a slight forked indentation, as if someone had used a hammer against the wood to pry out a nail. At the same level on the opposite jamb, a nail was still visible, bent and broken, its head gone, but new. The nail is where it would have been if a wire had been stretched across the top of the stairs in order to trip someone."
Evangeline: So this character in the book was purposely tripped to make his death look like an accident?
John: But it wasn't.
Evangeline: So --
John: So was it the same thing that happened to Hudson Prescott? Let's see what else we got here.
Todd: I'm going to ask you one more time. What did you do with my wife?
Bo: Manning, this isn't going to get you anywhere.
Dr. Cornell: I don't understand. As far as I know, she was in this room.
Todd: You son of a bitch. You stop lying to me.
Bo: Manning! Do I have to cuff you?
Dr. Cornell: Listen, I swear to you, the woman you described was in this room when I left here. I don't know what could have happened.
Todd: I do. I think you gave her to Asa Buchanan, didn't you?
Bo: All right, look, I'll handle this.
Todd: Well, then handle it!
Bo: Describe the man that brought that woman here.
Dr. Cornell: It was an elderly gentlemen, gray hair, glasses.
Bo: Yeah. Texas accent?
Dr. Cornell: Yes. You know him?
Bo: Yeah. He's my father. That is Asa Buchanan.
Dr. Cornell: He said this woman he brought in was his daughter.
Todd: He was lying. So are you.
Dr. Cornell: I really didn't know.
Bo: You call your security. You tell them to start looking for Blair Cramer.
Dr. Cornell: Yes, yes, of course.
Nurse: Dr. Cornell. My keys -- somebody stole my keys.
Orderly: Let's try here.
Orderly: 20a, come in.
Blair: Oh, god, no. It's too high to jump.
[Knock on door]
Nora: Ignore it.
Daniel: I will.
Riley: Dad. I know you're in there.
Daniel: That's -- that's --
Nora: It's Riley.
Daniel: Riley. It is Riley.
Daniel: Hey, hey, Riley. Come on in. What's -- what's going on?
Riley: Jen and I had a fight.
Daniel: About what?
Riley: Hey, Nora.
Riley: We just thought both of you could help us.
Nora: Well, come on in, come on in.
Daniel: Riley, what's going on?
Riley: You know how someone was trying to set up Jen, like she killed Paul Cramer?
Daniel: Yeah. What, something else happen?
Riley: Maybe this isn't such a good idea.
Daniel: Riley, something's on your mind. You came here for a reason.
Nora: And you came here because you wanted us to help you.
Daniel: And we will, but we've got to know what it is.
Riley: I found something.
Daniel: Well, what, something of Jen's?
Riley: In her things.
Daniel: Related to the Paul Cramer case?
Riley: I don't think this was a good idea.
Nora: Ok, hold on, hold on. You don't have to say anything to us that's going to make you uncomfortable, but if this has anything to do with Jen being framed --
Riley: It's like before with the printer.
Daniel: Riley, what is it?
Riley: I found some deposit slips of a bank account in Paul Cramer's name. It's not what it looked like, though.
Daniel: Riley, what does it look like?
Riley: Like Jen was paying off Paul.
Nora: Are you sure? Are you sure?
Riley: It's not -- it's not what happened. No, it's someone trying to set her up, the same person like before, and we have to find out who this is.
Marcie: Hey, Jen.
Jen: Hey, Marcie.
Marcie: So what are you doing here, and with rex?
Rex: Now, is that any way to talk about the guy who helped hold your hand when you almost bit it a few weeks ago?
Michael: Where's Riley?
Rex: They had a fight, ok?
Marcie: Are you all right?
Jen: Yeah. No, it's fine. We'll work it out.
Marcie: Well, what happened? I mean, what'd you guys fight about?
Jen: It was just -- it's stupid, it's fine.
Marcie: No, it's not stupid, Jen, not when you love someone like you love riley.
Rex: Whoa, way to go, Marcie. Make her feel even worse, why don't you?
Marcie: I didn't mean to make her feel any worse. I'm sorry, Jen. It's just -- look, whatever happened between you and riley, it doesn't mean you have to start hooking up with Rex again.
Rex: Ok, am I invisible here?
Marcie: I wish you were. Why don't you just leave her alone?
Rex: I don't get it. I thought we were pals.
Marcie: Oh --
Rex: Besides, all Jen's got to do is say the word and I'm gone.
Jen: It's fine. We're just hanging out, Marcie.
Marcie: Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of.
Rex: Maybe you ought to worry more about yourself. What are you doing with Dr. Mike here? I thought you two were busted up.
Marcie: We're just friends. Right, Michael?
Michael: Yeah. Just friends.
Rex: Just like Jen and me. Or is that what you're afraid of?
Bo: The keys you lost tonight, did they include a key to this room?
Nurse: Yes, but I didn't lose them. Somebody took them.
Bo: All right. Were you in this room earlier?
Nurse: Earlier today, yes.
Todd: Now, was there a tall blond woman in there?
Nurse: Yes. I came to check on her.
Bo: Blair's got the keys.
Todd: Which means she's somewhere around here. Come on.
Orderly: The outside doors and elevator are secure.
Second orderly: I'll double back. You check the wards.
Todd: You're telling me you're positive you never saw her anywhere?
Orderly: She's not here. We checked the whole floor.
Bo: Come on, manning. We're going to check all the floors again.
Blair: I can't -- no, I can't do this. It's too high. I can't -- come on, Blair, you can do it. Just don't -- just don't look down. Don't look down. Come on.
Dr. Cornell: Quiet, please. Let security handle this.
Todd: Oh, you think I'm going to trust your goons to this?
Dr. Cornell: Security's doing a room-to-room check. She could get out of the building with the nurse's keys.
Bo: Yeah, but not past that guard shack out in the front, right?
Dr. Cornell: Well, that would be a problem.
Bo: Ok, then we'll check the grounds. Let's go. Hey, we're going out to search the grounds. Meet us out there. Manning, you coming?
John: Here, listen to this. "I told him how a few summers ago Shawn Tarrini had gone into the embankment on an expressway ramp, totaled his car, died at the scene, how he'd been alone on the way home from A.C., apparently having had too much to drink."
Evangeline: A car crash.
John: Yeah, like Julie Tanaka, who also happened to be one of Prescott's roommates.
Evangeline: Yeah, yeah, but Julie's death was an accident.
John: No, it wasn't. Her tire was shot out.
Evangeline: So Marcie's character Shawn Tarrini -- how did his accident happen?
Riley: When I think about somebody in our place planting that evidence, it makes me crazy. Who would want to point the finger at Jen? You know, at first I thought it was rex so he could be the hero and come to her rescue.
Daniel: Riley, why don't you sit down? We need to talk.
Riley: All right, all right. Look, it had to have just been brought in after the police searched the place.
Daniel: Riley, I -- I think you're right. I think the deposit slips were brought in after the search.
Riley: By whoever's trying to frame Jen. That's what I'm trying to say.
Daniel: Or they could have been brought in with the rest of Jen's things from the cottage.
Riley: Wait, what are you saying? No, you don't think -- not Jen.
Nora: Ok, I'm going to go get us something to drink. I'll be right back.
Riley: Those deposit slips are not Jen's.
Daniel: Riley, we don't know that yet. I think you'd better start keeping an open mind.
Riley: I am keeping an open mind. Jen is being set up, and probably by the killer.
Daniel: What if she isn't? Look, Riley, I know that it's difficult for you to even wrap your mind around this, but all the evidence is piling up against her, pointing right at her.
Riley: Because someone wants it that way.
Daniel: Riley, I know you want to believe that, but that's not --
Riley: Jen is not a murderer. I know that. She is not capable of something like that. Yes, she's made some mistakes, but not like this, not her.
Daniel: Riley, sometimes the people you love have a darker side. They have secrets, secrets they don't want you to know, secrets you don't even want to know. But, that doesn't make them a bad person. It's just that sometimes even the best people do things they have to, things they have no control over.
Riley: All right, I don't know who you're talking about, but it's not Jen. She is not capable of killing anyone. I know that, and anyone who knows her knows that, right, Nora?
Nora: Well, I have to agree with you. I've never thought of Jen in that way. You know, maybe we should look at the deposit slips. It might help us come up with an explanation.
Daniel: Yeah, that's a good idea. Did you bring them with you?
Riley: No, I left them in the apartment with Jen.
Daniel: How could you be so stupid?
Marcie: Not that it is any of your business, Rex, but Michael and I -- we're together because we were discussing something, that's all.
Rex: Well, it must be important. I mean, when people split up, they don't have much to do with each other -- unless they can't stay apart.
Michael: What goes on between me and Marcie is between me and Marcie.
Rex: Right. Just like Jen and me aren't any of Marcie's business. Right?
Jen: Cut her some slack, ok?
Marcie: You know what? It doesn't even matter, because we need to go. You know, Jen, maybe you should just come with us.
Rex: Still, like I'm not even here.
Marcie: Well, you just never know what could happen to somebody.
Jen: Is this because of Hudson and Julie?
Marcie: Why? Why -- why would you say that? I don't --
Jen: Because we're all a little jumpy about what happened.
Rex: Yeah, but it's not like it's going to happen Jen. Ahem. What are the odds, right?
Marcie: Just be careful, ok? I don't trust him.
Rex: Don't worry. She's safe with me.
Marcie: Come on, let's go. You think maybe we should have said something to Jen, you know, about the fact that someone might be copying the murders out of my book?
Michael: I don't know. I think that we should probably talk to my brother first.
Rex: I know Marcie's your best friend and all, but, man, she seriously needs to chill.
Jen: She cares about me.
Rex: And I don't? Hmm? All right, now, what did you do with the deposit slips? You didn't -- you didn't, you know, leave them back at your place or give them to Riley, did you?
Jen: Nope. I've got them right here. I didn't know what else to do with them.
Rex: I do.
Blair: Somebody help me, please. Oh, I need you now, Todd. Why did you have to go and die on me? Huh? Why'd you have to die on me?
Bo: We're going to meet back up at the front gate. Let's go.
Todd: No, you go. I'll stay here.
Bo: Don't try to pull anything on your own. You understand?
Todd: Yeah, yeah.
Todd: What? You took the gun away. What else can I do?
Bo: Don't make me answer that.
Todd: I want to find her, Bo. I'm not going to screw it up.
Bo: That's what I'm counting on. So, you stay here. Don't leave this area.
Todd: All right.
Bo: We straight on that?
Bo: Are we straight on that?
Todd: Blair, where are you?
Daniel: Riley, what the hell were you thinking, leaving those deposit slips with Jen? We needed that evidence.
Riley: To find out who's framing her or try to convict her?
Daniel: If she's guilty, yes!
Riley: You know, I came here for your help, but I see that's not happening and I should have just listened to Jen in the first place.
Daniel: Why, she told you not to come see me?
Riley: And she was right.
Daniel: Riley, if Jen feels she's being framed, she'd want to go to the authorities, but she doesn't. That ought to tell you something.
Nora: Ok, let's not jump to any guns here, Daniel. I've known Jen a long time, and when she gets scared, her tendency is to run.
Daniel: All right. Ok. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to jump all over you, Riley. It's the stress of this case.
Riley: Stress? Why don't you take a second and think about how it's affecting Jen?
Nora: Ok, it's doing a number on all of us.
Daniel: Ok, look, I said I'd help you, and I will. Did you remember the amount on those deposit slips?
Riley: I think -- three of them each for $25,000.
Daniel: Ok. Ok. I'm going to make some phone calls, see what I can find out about those transactions, ok? Oh, Riley, what I said before --
Riley: Just help Jen.
Nora: Your father's going to help you out here.
Riley: I hope so.
Nora: Well, you know, if there's an explanation out there, he'll find it.
Riley: So you think she couldn't have killed Paul Cramer?
Nora: My gut? No. But, I got to tell you, my gut's been wrong before, especially when it comes to people that I love. I get kind of a fuzzy judgment.
Riley: What, are you talking about my dad?
Nora: No, no. But I've been there. I know what it's like to love someone so much you -- you can't or won't see the worst of them, even when it's staring you right in the face. You want so badly to be fooled by them, you just want to see all the goodness in him --
Riley: She didn't do it. She didn't do it, Nora. I don't just think that. I know it and so do you -- no matter what he thinks.
Riley: So what did you find out?
Daniel: I'm sorry. I just got confirmation. It looks like Jen did deposit that money into Paul Cramer's account.
Riley: What confirmation? What do you mean?
Nora: Wait a minute. We've been working on this for months and turning up nothing. You go in there for five seconds and --
Daniel: The fact that Jen had those three deposit slips was the missing piece of the puzzle.
Riley: What missing piece? What are you --
Daniel: Riley, I had someone access her account, and I know you don't want to hear this, but there were three large withdrawals for $25,000. Riley, no one planted those deposit slips. No one's framing Jen. She paid off Paul Cramer and the fact that she had those deposit slips in her possession means she probably killed him.
Jen: I'm not sure this is such a good idea.
Rex: What else are you going to do with the deposit slips? Let Riley's old man send you to jail with them? They can't convict without evidence.
Jen: Riley knows that I had them.
Rex: So? It's his word against yours. Just tell them that he made it all up.
Jen: What do you mean, call him a liar?
Rex: It's better than him calling you a murderer.
Jen: Look, he's trying to help me.
Rex: Oh. This guy can do no wrong, can he?
Jen: I love him.
Rex: Even though he's serving you up on a plate to the cops?
Jen: Well, I can't really help it. You know, when you love somebody, it just -- it's a part of you. You can't just shake it off, even if you wanted to.
Rex: Yeah, tell me about it.
Evangeline: Are you seeing anything about that character's car crash?
John: No, nothing yet.
John: You expecting someone?
Michael: Evangeline? John?
[Knock on door]
Michael: Come on, somebody open up.
John: Hey, guys, come on in.
Marcie: Hi. Oh, hey, you're reading my book.
Marcie: Michael, he's reading the book.
Evangeline: Yeah, he's reading it to me. Come on in.
Michael: Hey, you're feeling better.
Evangeline: Yeah, I'm feeling a little bit better.
John: Actually, we were just about to call you.
Marcie: Oh, really? Why?
John: Well, because of this.
Michael: Yeah, yeah, that's why we're here, too. Tell him, Marcie.
Marcie: Well, I mean, I don't know how far that you've gotten into the book -- and I don't want to give anything away, so don't be mad at me if I give anything away -- but, see, the thing is, is that one of the characters in the book died in a fire and the other one died in a car accident. And I know that Julie and Hudson -- you know, they were just accidents, right, but -- but the thing is, what I'm trying to say is that the character Ben, who died in a fire -- well, somebody caused him to fall down the steps, and the other character, Shawn, who died in a car accident -- well, somebody caused that, too.
John: It's the same thing with your friend Julie. It wasn't an accident.
Marcie: It wasn't an accident? So then -- then it's true? See? Somebody is -- they're trying to make "The Killing Club" real.
Dr. Cornell: What are you doing out here alone? Where's Commissioner Buchanan?
Todd: I think he went up to the front gate to meet backup.
Dr. Cornell: He'd better not upset things any more than they are.
Todd: Why don't you go talk to him about it?
Dr. Cornell: I intend to do that.
Todd: Fine. Knock yourself out.
Marcie: See? It says right here, "Shawn's tire was shot out."
John: Same as julie's.
Marcie: Oh, God. Ok, but what about Hudson? You know, I mean, the character of Ben -- you know, he died in a fire like Hudson, but that was only after somebody tripped him with a wire on his basement steps.
John: Hudson was found in the basement of his place.
Michael: Was there any evidence of foul play?
John: Not initially, but I'm going to double-check.
Marcie: Ok, what if there was a wire? What do we do then?
Evangeline: Ok, we're acting on a theory here, Marcie. There might not be anything to it.
Marcie: Yeah, but there could be, and you -- you think so just as much as I do and so do you. That's why you're checking it out, because you think somebody's copying the murders in my book. But, why would they do that, John, and who would do it?
Riley: She didn't pay off Paul Cramer, and she sure as hell didn't kill anyone.
Daniel: I really hope so, son.
Riley: I'm going to go talk to her.
Daniel: Hey, Riley, if there's anything that I can do to help, just let me know.
Daniel: No matter what happens, I hope you understand I'm here.
Riley: You mean if she turns out to be guilty? I'll see you later, dad.
Daniel: Ok. Ok, let me have it. Let me know how much I screwed up.
Nora: I don't really have to. You're doing a pretty good job of that yourself. Look, it means you're human enough to make mistakes and big enough to own up to them.
Daniel: I just can't help but get the feeling that Riley is setting himself up here.
Nora: You don't believe there's the remotest possibility that she's being framed?
Daniel: With everything we know now, who could be doing this?
Jen: I should go.
Rex: Back to Riley?
Jen: I live with him.
Rex: Don't do it, Jen.
Jen: He's trying to help me.
Rex: That kind of help's going to land you in Statesville. Come home with me.
Jen: I can't.
Rex: I'll take the couch.
Jen: I appreciate everything you're doing, Rex, I really do. But, I love riley.
Rex: Well, it looks like I'm going to have to help her by myself -- my own way.
Orderly: What are you doing back here?
Todd: I'm helping look for that missing patient. They sent me up.
Orderly: Who's "they"? We got it covered.
Todd: All right, then. I'll just stay here, and you guys just go ahead. Don't let me keep you.
Orderly: We're not going anywhere, but you are.
Todd: All right, I'm out of here.
Orderly: Come on! Come on.
John: Look, I'm not going to call this thing until I check out Hudson's place. I'll be back, ok?
Marcie: John? John, I want to go.
Michael: Yeah. Yeah, count me in, man.
John: Take her home, Michael. Sleep on it. I'll call you in the morning.
Marcie: How does he expect me to get any sleep?
Michael: He doesn't. That's why we're not going to leave till he gets back. I hope you don't mind, E.
Evangeline: I had a feeling you'd say that.
Marcie: No, you know what? You're probably not feeling well. You probably don't want company, anyway. You know, maybe -- Michael, maybe we should just leave and get out of here.
Michael: Yeah, we can go, if you want.
Evangeline: Don't be ridiculous. Like I could get any rest, anyway. Come on, please, stay.
Marcie: I can't believe this is happening.
Michael: No, listen, it might not be happening.
Marcie: If it is, if someone's trying to copy my book, then more people are going to die.
Daniel: Nora, I know this is hard for you to accept as it is for riley, but you're both going to have to sooner or later. It's starting to look more and more like Jen actually did kill Paul Cramer.
Nora: She's been like a daughter to me.
Daniel: I know. I wish I could do something to help.
Nora: Well, it's riley who's going to need your help, you know. Imagine, falling in love with someone, sharing your life with them, having no idea who they really are.
Officer: Where's Manning, sir?
Bo: He was here. I told him to stay put. Check the grounds. You take a look inside. Oh, damn it, Manning.
>> On the next "One Life to Live" --
Jessica: Would you mind mailing something for me?
Viki: Even if John returns your feelings, he's not free to act on them.
Officer: So it wasn't an accident?
John: We got ourselves a homicide.
