Nora: That was fun, wasn't it?

Matthew: Uh-huh.

Nora: That's what we do every Rosh Hashanah. We say goodbye to the old year and we think about all the things that we did that we were proud of, and --

Matthew: What we're sorry for.

Nora: That's right, and the changes that we're going to make and how we're going to be a better person, and then we take all those bad things that we did and we throw them away.

Matthew: That's why we threw the breadcrumbs in the river.

Nora: That's right. Are you OK?

Matthew: I did something bad last year.

Nora: You want to talk about it?

Matthew: I lied so you and Bo would live together.

Bo: How you holding up?

Gabrielle: I知 so glad you're here.

Bo: I知 not going anywhere. Ever.

Joey: Hey.

Marcie: Hi. Thanks, Joe, for taking care of everything.

Ron: Including my sister.

Joey: Jen and I are here for you. Anything you need.

Ron: It's been nice of Joe and Jen to take you in, but I think you should be with family, Marce.

Marcie: I can't leave.

Ron: Take a break. I mean, classes can wait. The job can wait.

Marcie: Al's here. I want to stay close.

Max: The tickets are all set for our flight to Argentina. They said we could take Al's body in the same plane.

Marcie: You're taking Al away?

Riley: Here it is. "Midnight Logic was a logical choice to fill in at Cobra Club in Philadelphia last night. Fronted by lead singer Flash, they rocked the house. It won't be long before somebody's opening up for them."

Flash: Let me see that.

Riley: They even quote you, what you said about Al.

Flash: He should have been around here to see this.

Carlotta: I might have to spend the night in Philadelphia.

Adriana: Why are you going to Philadelphia, Madrina?

Carlotta: Well, I wouldn't go if I didn't have to. You'll be all right here?

Adriana: No te preocupes.

Carlotta: Te portate bien.

Adriana: Claro que si.

Carlotta: I think my bus is about to leave. I値l call you, OK?

Adriana: OK. Bendicion.

Carlotta: Que dios te bendiga, mi amor.

River: Check it out.

Adriana: "Hundreds of people for the Voice of the Night --" you read it.

River: "Gathered in Angel Square last night to honor the memory of Al Holden, the man behind the voice."

Adriana: Because of you. Does it say that, too?

River: Doesn't have to.

Adriana: You read the whole thing?

River: Yeah. Not only that, I am onto the second book of my reading list. Yippee. I was hoping you could help me with it if you have time.

Adriana: Carlotta just left for Philadelphia.

River: I know. I saw that.

Adriana: So maybe we could get together at the diner.

River: Yeah, or someplace else.

Antonio: Hi.

Jessica: Hi. Where did you go?

Antonio: I went for a run. Why? What'd you think?

Jessica: I didn't know. When I woke up, you were gone.

Antonio: I just -- I went out to get some fresh air and clear my head.

Jessica: Well, did the run help?

Antonio: Well, yeah, till I was mobbed by a pack of reporters, which is why I probably shouldn't go to Al's funeral.

Jessica: I知 so sorry that you have to go through this. If I had just answered those questions differently at the hearing --

Antonio: Jessica, none of this is your fault.

Jessica: Well, it's not your fault, either. You didn't kill Keri, and you're going to be cleared.

Antonio: Well, I might not be. We have to prepare for that.

R.J.: I didn't think any of this would happen. I didn't mean for this to happen. I knew that Vega would hurt you, but I was just trying to protect you. I wanted to keep you safe. That's why I did what I did.

Evangeline: I came to pay my respects.

R.J.: Respects? That's what you call defending the punk that murdered Keri? You might as well have helped him do it.

Evangeline: R.J., you're just saying that because you're in a lot of pain right now, and I --

R.J.: You -- you don't know the first thing about me.

Evangeline: I thought I did. I thought you were someone who overcame a lot. I thought you were someone who wanted only the best for his daughter.

R.J.: My daughter is dead.

Evangeline: Well, punishing the wrong man isn't going to bring her back.

R.J.: The D.A. thinks it's the right man.

Evangeline: R.J., I care a lot about you, whether you want to believe that or not. And I was worried about Keri and her obsession with Antonio, and now I知 worried about yours.

R.J.: I am only obsessed with justice.

Evangeline: Then you don't want to see an innocent man die.

R.J.: There are no innocent men in Llanview. Antonio Vega certainly is not an innocent man. If it weren't for him, none of this would have happened. Even if he didn't push her off the balcony, he is responsible for her death.

Evangeline: Even if he didn't push her off the balcony?

R.J.: Whatever. OK, you go do your lawyer thing. I know he killed Keri, the D.A. knows he did it, and soon the jury will know it, too. If you want to pay some respects to Keri, why don't you just give her a little bit of that peace that she never got in life.

Jessica: Antonio --

Antonio: Forget that. Although I was innocent the first time I was convicted. Why not twice?

Jessica: Listen, don't say that, OK?

Antonio: It's going to be a tough fight.

Jessica: Well, then we'll fight it together.

Antonio: I知 just sorry I dragged you into this, after everything we've been through.

Jessica: Don't even say that.

Antonio: I can't help it. I love you.

Jessica: I love you, too. That's why I知 not going anywhere. I want to be right here. You know, you're right. I have been through a lot, and so have you. That's why I don't want to lose you now.

Antonio: You have to go to Al's service. I知 sorry I can't go with you.

Jessica: I understand.

Antonio: I値l say a prayer.

Jessica: I値l say one for you, too.

Antonio: "District attorney Daniel Colson is confident the police have found their killer."

Nora: All right, let me get this straight. You and Starr manning tricked us into believing that Gabrielle wasn't going to show up for Bo's date, and that's how I ended up going to the baseball game with you and Bo? Wow, are you guys good. I had no idea.

Matthew: Are you going to ground me?

Nora: I should. No video games for a month. You know we talked about lying. What did we say?

Matthew: I know.

Nora: Yeah. Well, you did take all of your sins and throw them in the river, didn't you?

Matthew: Then I知 not in trouble?

Nora: Well, how about you just don't do it again. That's all God would ask for. I, on the other hand, want to ask you something else. Sweetie, why did you do this in the first place?

Matthew: I wanted another dad. But I decided Bo could be my dad even if he doesn't live with us. Right? I知 thirsty. Could I get some apple juice?

Nora: Sure.

Nora: Oy-oy-oy.

Nora: OK, God, cards on the table here. I wasn't exactly truthful last year, either. I mean, I didn't tell Matthew that Sam wasn't his father and that his father was Bo, OK. But I didn't think he could handle it, and I didn't think I could handle it if he didn't, and so -- I know, I know, I know. It's time to set the record straight. I know, I know. And I will, as soon as Bo can handle it.

Gabrielle: Marcie, Al was born in Argentina, and all of my family are buried there.

Max: And he loved it when we visited Argentina.

Gabrielle: So, naturally, we thought -- but we weren't thinking of you. I知 so sorry.

Max: Yeah, we're both sorry.

Marcie: It's OK.

Gabrielle: Why don't you come with us to Argentina?

Max: Yeah, we'll foot the bill. You won't have to worry about anything.

Ron: I don't --

Marcie: No, no. Ronnie, it's OK. It's all right. You know what, Al's spirit is here, and that's where it'll always be for me. Thank you, though.

Joey: Nat, Cris. I知 glad you guys could make it.

Natalie: What?

Jen: I知 just surprised, after everything that went down between Al and you guys.

Natalie: Yeah, well, you, too.

Jen: Al and I had put that behind us.

Cristian: Well, that's what we're doing, too.

Natalie: All of it.

Bo: I知 going to Argentina with you.

Gabrielle: You know you can't do that.

Bo: Hey, I deserve a little break from work.

Gabrielle: That means more to me than I could ever tell you.

Bo: Somebody else can run the department for a little while.

Gabrielle: You need to be here for Antonio, I think, don't you?

Bo: I need to be with you.

Gabrielle: Max will be with me. You know what? Perhaps it's something that we should do on our own, just as Al's parents.

Renee: Come to me, Max. If anybody knows what you're going through, it's me.

Max: I keep thinking he's going to walk around the corner, pop out, hit me up for some money. You know, harass me about my taste in music. What I wouldn't give --

Renee: You're like family to me, Max. You always have been. So please lean on me and lean on your friends. That's what we're here for.

Woman: Flash?

Flash: Yeah?

Woman: I was at your show in Philly last night. You guys, it's Flash. Can I have your autograph?

Riley: Hey, hey, this is not cool right now, OK?

Woman: You're the guitar player!

Flash: How'd you guys know we were going to be here?

Joey: Hey, hey, hey, hey. What's going on here?

[All shouting at once]

River: "The atmosphere surrounds the earth. The --"

Adriana: Hydrosphere.

River: Right, "hydropshere and all the continents are --"

Adriana: You missed a spot. Here. Try -- try it now.

River: OK, let me try something else.

Adriana: Oh, whoa -- I don't think this was such a good idea.

River: Why? Is that you talking, or is it St. Carlotta?

Adriana: I promised her I wouldn't have you in my room.

River: We're just studying. Is there something wrong?

Adriana: Is that all?

River: If that's all you want, yeah.

Adriana: I think it's best.

River: OK, cool. Let's get back to the --

Adriana: All right, so let's get back to this hydrosphere.

River: Right.

Adriana: Where were we?

[All shouting at once]

Joey: Hey, hey, come on, come on! Break it up, break it up! This is not a concert. This is a funeral.

Flash: I know. And that's why they're all here. Because of Al, the Voice of the Night. And let's keep it like that, OK, guys? Because if it weren't for Al, you would've never even heard of Midnight Logic.

Joey: OK, let's just all go in and please take a seat.

Flash: And I want you to go home after the service, and I want you to turn on your music and listen to your favorite song that you heard on Al's show and blast it really loud so he can hear. And know that you're listening to him, OK?

Joey: Hey, Al would have liked that.

Flash: Hey, let's go inside.

Riley: You get a seat. I値l be right there.

Man: Uh, maybe this will take the edge off.

Riley: No, thanks. I couldn't do that to Al.

Joey: First brush with fame?

Flash: A little bit.

Joey: Get used to it.

Flash: C.J. should've been here for this.

Joey: Yeah. Did you call him?

Flash: Yeah. Navy brass shut me down, and even Asa tried to call.

Joey: That's too bad. He should be here for his buddy.

Flash: Al would have liked it, too.

Cristian: Hey, Jess. Is my brother here?

Jessica: No, no. He didn't want to disrupt things. The press is all over him, you know.

Cristian: How's he doing?

Jessica: Oh, he's OK.

Joey: Let us pray. Dear Lord, you have been our refuge from one generation to another. You've been a light in the darkness

Evangeline: Antonio. Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you.

Antonio: No. No, it's OK. I just thought it was more reporters.

Evangeline: I was going to call you when I got to my office.

Antonio: Any new angles?

Evangeline: I知 working on some.

Antonio: But you haven't come up with anything so far.

Evangeline: Colson's case against you is good, but it's not airtight. And the biggest hole is that you didn't kill Keri.

Antonio: Yeah? Well, the jury may not feel that way.

Evangeline: What if we could find the real killer?

Antonio: Whatever happened to innocent before proven guilty?

Evangeline: You were a cop. You know it doesn't always work that way. As soon as someone goes on trial, the police usually stop looking for a different suspect.

Antonio: Can you get an acquittal?

Evangeline: I知 good, but I知 not a miracle worker.

Antonio: Yeah, well, neither am I. I don't have a gun, a badge, record, or files. How the hell am I supposed to catch a killer?

Evangeline: You can start by looking at R.J.

Antonio: So you're saying you think R.J. killed Keri?

Evangeline: I think it's possible.

Antonio: No. No, he would never murder his own daughter.

Evangeline: Not murder, but caused it. Believe me, I don't want this to be true, but I can't stand by and watch an innocent man be punished for another man's vendetta.

Antonio: It doesn't mean that R.J. --

Evangeline: Just hear me out. Suppose after you left, R.J. showed up to take Keri and Jamie away, but after talking to you, Keri has a change of heart.

Antonio: I doubt that.

Evangeline: Just let me finish. Keri tells R.J. she's not going to leave. She's going to stay and she's going to try to work out the joint custody arrangement. R.J. gets angry, they have a fight --

Antonio: So he pushes her off the balcony? No.

Evangeline: Maybe he backed her up against the edge of the balcony and she fell. R.J. blames you because in his mind it's your fault that the argument even happened in the first place, and this way he gets his precious revenge.

Antonio: So you plan on using this for the defense?

Evangeline: If it's true and if we can prove it.

Antonio: No. Forget it. I hate R.J., but he's as innocent as I am, and I am not going to do to him what he's doing to me.

R.J.: Keri, I知 so sorry. I知 sorry we didn't have more time. I知 sorry I couldn't stop this from happening to you. I知 so sorry. I知 sorry for everything.

Nora: Also on Rosh Hashanah, we remember the people that we lost during the year.

Matthew: Like Dad.

Nora: Like Sam. And we say a prayer for them -- for Sam and Al and Keri. "Yit-gadal v'yit-kasash sh'mey raba --"

Nora and Matthew: Amen.

Nora: "B'alma di v'ra hirutey --"

Joey: For thou art God everlasting and world without end. When a young life leaves us, it doesn't seem right, fair. It's as if everything is happening out of order. Life is supposed to be long and full. Children are supposed to outlive their parents.

Max: What do you say I teach you how to ride a horse, and we'll go out in the desert and sleep out under the stars. Would you like that? Hmm? God, I wish this could be different. I wish I could spend every moment with you. But I can't. And I can't stop you from growing up. You weren't the one who was supposed to leave.

Joey: But even a young life leaves a profound mark, and Al -- Al did much more than that. There isn't a single person here who wasn't touched by him, either as a family member, a friend, or one of his many fans. I happen to be all three. We all listened to the Voice of the Night for months without knowing who it was because Al wanted it that way so he could say the things that were on his mind, the things that were in his heart. He could say the things that he needed to say, the things that we needed to hear. As I look at his picture right now, he's telling me things I need to hear. He's saying, "I知 not really gone. I知 just in a better place." And I take comfort in that. And I hope that everyone who loves him and cares about him can take comfort in that, too.

Marcie: Al?

Al: Yeah. It's me, Marcie. They can't see me. Only you can.

Marcie: What are you doing here?

Al: Well, we didn't really get a chance to say goodbye, did we?

Marcie: No. I知 sorry, this is too hard.

Al: Marcie, I know. I was sent back here to help you.

[Music plays]

Adriana: "A voice too soon silenced still echoes." You wrote that for Al Holden?

River: Yep.

Adriana: It's beautiful.

River: You're beautiful.

Adriana: Um -- you should finish your homework.

River: It is finished.

Adriana: Well, there must be some extra credit.

River: Did you hear me before?

Adriana: Yeah.

River: I mean, it's not just the way you look. You're beautiful on the inside, too. It's the way you think. It's the way you act. It's the way you've gotten to me like nobody else ever could. I sound like an idiot, I know, and I don't care.

Adriana: No, you don't because I feel the same way, too. I used to read stories about love and I used to dream about it. But I never really knew what it was until I met you.

Carlotta: No, Regina, things didn't work out in Philadelphia the way I壇 hoped, so I知 coming back home on the next bus. Yeah. Let me talk with Adriana. Oh, she's studying? All right. Would you ask her to call me when she gets back in? All right, and let her know I知 on my way home.

[Music plays]

Antonio: See, the guy in this file was acquitted.

Evangeline: Because there was another suspect.

Antonio: Who was never formally charged or arrested.

Evangeline: But it was enough to create a reasonable doubt.

Antonio: No! No, it's not going to work. Look, forget it. I hate the guy, but he didn't do it, not even by accident. What would make you think that in the first place?

Evangeline: Look, this isn't easy for me. I care about R.J., but after I saw him at Keri's grave today --

Antonio: Keri's --

Evangeline: The police released her body to R.J. last night.

Antonio: I got to go.

Evangeline: Antonio, please don't do anything stupid.

Jessica: Al -- Al was my best friend. We could always be really honest with each other, no matter what. I could always count on him. And now -- now I don't know what I知 going to do without him.

Joey: OK. Thank you.

Al: Don't cry, Marcie.

Marcie: I can't help it.

Al: I don't want anyone to cry when they think about me.

Flash: Al would do things for you even when you didn't know it. Like when I was in the hospital and he played me singing while Midnight Logic played. That was Al.

Riley: There was a time where he hit bottom, but he came back. And he made us all know that no matter what, we could find our way. Then, this. I don't know why this happened.

Ron: I didn't know Al very long, but long enough to know what a great guy he was. He sure made my sister happy. I would've liked to have been friends with him, and I think we could've, too, if there had been more time.

Jen: Al and I ended up being friends, even after everything we'd been through. He was able to forgive because he believed in giving second chances. I just wish he'd been able to get one.

Al: This isn't what I wanted at all.

Marcie: But we love you so much.

Al: Well, remember me that way. Remember when I was here, when we were together, how much fun we had. Remember the first time I took you rollerblading? Remember how much fun we had, right? When I got my grades back, how excited were we? And when we made love, I've never been so happy. I don't want to remembered with tears, OK?

Marcie: OK.

Al: That's how I want to be remembered. That beautiful smile of yours.

Joey: Now if there's anybody else who wants to say something --

Marcie: I知 sorry! I知 sorry, but this is wrong. Al wouldn't have wanted this. You know, I know that everybody's really upset, and I am too, but he wouldn't have wanted this. I mean, he would have wanted everybody to be happy, and he would've wanted this place to rock.

Joey: Go on.

Marcie: He would have wanted you to remember some joke that he told or something that made you laugh. OK, you can laugh! So, can you remember him that way? Please? That's what he would want because I know that he's smiling at us all right now, wherever he is.

Matthew: What's that?

Nora: That is a pomegranate. Here, hold onto that one. Check it out.

Matthew: There must be a million-gazillion seeds.

Nora: A bazillion-gazillion seeds, and we wish for a year filled with as much health and happiness as there are seeds in the pomegranate. That would be a bazillion-gazillion in happiness.

Matthew: Cool.

Nora: Cool. Very, very cool. And there's the challah bread, which is smooth and round and represents our wish for a year filled -- smooth and filled with endless hope.

Matthew: That's what I want.

Nora: Me, too. And then we have our apples dipped in honey.

Matthew: I know that one -- so next year we'll be really sweet.

Nora: And filled with love. You're the best. Here. L'shanah tovah.

Marcie: I know that in the program it says that we're supposed to sing "Amazing Grace," but -- oh, I don't think so. So if it's OK with you, I壇 like to sing one of Al's favorite songs. Yes?

And I壇 give up forever to touch you 'cause I know that you feel me somehow you're the closest to heaven that I値l ever be and I don't want to go home right now 'cause all I can taste is this moment and all I can breathe is your life 'cause sooner or later it's over I just don't want to miss you tonight and I don't want the world to see me 'cause I don't think that they'd understand when everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am

Marcie: And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming and you can't fight the truth in your lies when everything seems like the movies yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive and I don't want the world to see me 'cause I don't think that they'd understand when everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I am

Stay tuned for scenes from the next "One Life to Live."

On the next "One Life to Live" --

Adriana: I've never done this before.

River: Me, neither.

Gabrielle: I just want him back.

Viki: I know you do.

Blair: It's about your proposal. I've made my decision.

R.J.: Admit it. Admit you killed my daughter.
