Rex: You see, we already got the marriage license. You're out of the picture.

Joey: I don't want anything bad to happen to you.

Starr: You need to get rid of Walker. I don't trust him.

Antonio: I've gotten to see a little more of Jamie.

Jessica: And Keri?

R.J.: This family portrait you're painting in your mind -- exactly where do you have Jessica Buchanan standing?

Joey: Jen.

Jen: I've been thinking a lot. You and I are running in circles.

Jen: We have to stop playing games and admit how we feel.

Joey: Is that what you really want?

Jen: You know what I want. Why don't you do what you want, what you've wanted since the second we met.

Viki: Well, that didn't take long.

Joey: What? Uh -- excuse me.

Viki: I said it didn't take long for you to get changed to go to the party.

Joey: Right. You know, there's something I need to do before dinner.

Viki: Oh, Sweetheart, Asa hates latecomers, especially at his own parties.

Joey: I know, I know, but do you remember when I told you that I had to straighten something out with --

Viki: Jen.

Joey: Well, things didn't really go how I'd like them to, and I just -- I have to do something about that right -- right now.

Marcie: You're not getting married. Oh, come on, you guys. This is nuts. You hardly even know each other. I mean, fun is fun, but marriage is for life.

Rex: Oh, lighten up, will ya?

Jen: Well, I want to have fun for life.

Rex: Come on, let's go.

Marcie: No, no, wait, wait. You're not. Really. I mean, are you? Come on. Have you talked to anybody else about this? You know, your mom? Your brother?

Jen: Nope. The only people that know about it are you and Joe, and Joe couldn't care less.

Viki: Baby? You know, Asa put together this little dinner to celebrate the fact that we are, thank God, all safe. I know that he would very much appreciate it if you were there.

Jessica: I know. I'm sorry, Mom. I -- I know that Grandpa's going to be mad at me, I know.

Viki: No, Darling, nobody's going to be angry.

Jessica: Just -- I can't -- I can't -- I can't do it right now, all those people there. It's going to be so crowded, and they're going to have all these questions, and I just -- I canít.

Viki: It's all right. I understand. It might help you to know that everyone who's going to be there is someone who loves you so much.

Cristian: It makes no sense to me, man. How could you not be there?

Antonio: I wasn't invited.

Cristian: Antonio, every cop that worked that case was invited. And Jessica wouldn't be there if it weren't for you. Her grandfather knows that.

Antonio: Look, I'll be honest with you, okay? I don't think it makes a difference whether I'm there or not, okay? And besides, things right now are a little complicated.

Cristian: Because of Keri. Antonio, things are always going to be complicated. And Mrs. Davidson is going to want to thank you for what you did. And I tell you what -- Jessica's going to want you there.

Walker: Blair, you sure you're okay with this?

Blair: Oh, well, you're going to need a place to stay. I mean, you are going to work here at "The Sun," so you need a place to live.

Walker: Hmm. So Viki just signed her trusteeship of "The Sun" over to you?

Blair: Well, unofficially. See, Todd hasn't been declared legally dead, and because of that, there's certain things in the will that are kind of up in the air. And, actually, I I'm just doing this for Starr. I want to make sure that she is taken care of and that she can trust me for anything. And if Todd -- well, if -- I have a really hard time talking about Todd. I'm sorry.

Walker: You really loved him?

Blair: Oh, I hated him. Ew. But, yeah, I loved him. Todd was -- he -- well, you know what? The place is vacant, so you're welcome to take it as long as you like, but if Todd does come back --

Walker: If Todd comes back, I can't think of a happier reason to get kicked out of a penthouse.

Blair: Okay. Well, then, it is a done deal. Here are the keys.

Walker: Thank you.

Blair: Okay.

Starr: Hey! You can't give him that penthouse! He's creepy! And his brother killed my dad!

Dorian: Hello, Darling. How are you enjoying your new home?

Viki: You know, Sweetheart, I do understand how you feel. It's been a horrendous ordeal, but thank God Mitch really is locked up now and he's going to be charged with enough capital crimes to keep him the forever, so he really can't touch us again, you know?

Jessica: I know.

Viki: And I think to be with family and the people that we love and the people who love us is, I think, the best way for all of us to start getting over what happened.

Jessica: I don't want you to be late.

Viki: Okay, I'm going to stay and keep you company, all right?

Jessica: Mom, go. I'll feel so much worse if you stay here because of me.

Viki: Jessie --

Jessica: Mom, I'm all right. I promise.

Marcie: Sorry I'm late. I ran into Jen and Rex.

Al: Ooh, please. No Jen today. I'm in too good a mood.

[Marcie giggles]

Marcie: Hi. Is your dad here yet?

Al: Yeah. He's right over there.

Marcie: Look how cute they are together.

Al: No, I don't know about cute. Roxy is a real pain in the neck. Although my dad did sort of fall apart when she wasn't around, I don't know. Maybe he sees something in her that we just donít.

Marcie: Well, you never know.

[Marcie chuckles]

Gabrielle: Asa, I just wanted to give you a message from Bo. He's held up at work, but he wants you to know that he will be here later, he promises.

Asa: Okay. When that son of mine walks in that door, I'm going to be the first man to shake his hand. He finally bagged that maniac Mitch Laurence.

Joey: Renee.

Renee: Oh! Yes, Darling. Hi.

Joey: Have you seen Jen?

Renee: No, I havenít. But if I do, I will give you a heads-up. Hey, Marcie, girl, you look terrific!

Marcie: Oh, gee, thanks, Ms. Divine.

Renee: If you'll excuse me, I have to go feed Asa a bourbon and branch before he starts howling.

Marcie: Joe, I need to tell you something.

Joey: What's up?

Marcie: Jen and Rex are -- I'm sorry if this ruins your family evening --

Joey: No, no. Actually, I came here looking for Jen.

Marcie: Yeah.

Joey: What did Rex do?

Marcie: Well, they're going to Atlantic City -- to get married.

Joey: When?

Marcie: Well, if they haven't left yet, they'll be taking off soon. You know, she said that the only other person who knew that she was getting married was you and that you didn't care. But I know you do and I know you're trying to help her. I mean, you know how she feels, right?

Joey: About Rex?

Marcie: No. About you! I mean, not that she's ever come out and said anything to me, but I mean, it's obvious, you know. When she looks at you, she looks at you the way I did.

Joey: Jen wants someone to love her because she thinks that love will take all her pain away. I can't encourage her to think that I'm some kind of answer.

Marcie: Why? Because you're a minister?

Joey: No. Because -- she's going through a lot of pain right now, real problems. I can't take advantage.

Marcie: Hey, everybody has problems. I mean, you have problems whether you're in love or not. Are you saying that she can't have feelings for you because she's going through a bad time?

Joey: No.

Marcie: She needs somebody who cares about her and somebody that she can trust. I just can't be that person for her right now, and that person sure isn't Rex Balsom.

Joey: Definitely not.

Marcie: Listen, I was thinking, you know, if you care at all, maybe you could just -- you know, maybe you could go after her and at least try and talk her out of this stupid marriage.

Joey: You know what? I will. Thank you, Marcie. Hey, Grandpa, I'm really sorry, but something's come up. I have to go.

Asa: Wait a minute. I've got a real surprise for all you people.

Joey: I know, but I'm sorry. I'll come back if I can.

Natalie: Mom's amazing, isn't she? She's always ready to do anything for us.

Jessica: Do you think I disappointed her? Come on, you can just -- you can just tell me. Just be honest, okay?

Natalie: I don't want you to feel pressured.

Jessica: Well, you know, walking on eggshells isn't very much better.

Natalie: Okay. Look, Mom -- she just deals with things differently than we do. She has this, you know, "Hold your head up high" thing, you know? And she feels that the sooner we move on with our lives, the sooner Mitch can't have anymore control over any of us.

Jessica: I just don't think I can do it. I just don't think I can hold my head up high.

Natalie: Then you shouldn't have to.

Jessica: Yeah, but if I don't try, then -- then I'm really letting her down. Look, you know, you have no idea what she did for me. She traded herself for me just -- just because she thought it would save me. So I just -- well, I just can't let her down.

Natalie: Jess, she just worries about you.

Jessica: So I wonít.

Natalie: Won't what?

Jessica: I won't let her down.

Antonio: If the commissioner hadn't pulled me off of Laurence, Cristian, I think I would have killed him. I -- I haven't felt that kind of rage ever, not even in prison. He got me seeing Rae Cummings.

Cristian: Really? And how's that going? That good, huh? Well, I you what, man, I know how you feel. Yeah, I went to jail for beating the hell out of the guy myself.

Antonio: Yeah, but the thing is, is I still want to beat the hell out of the guy. And I hate it.

Cristian: Well, that's because you feel like, you know, you're getting down at his level. But, Antonio, you went out there to protect Jessica. That's just the kind of guy you are, man. You'd do anything to protect someone you care about.

Antonio: Yeah. I care about Jessica.

Dorian: I'm here to remind you that I am still your wife and, as such, I enjoy certain privileges. Very soon now the court is going to hold you by your ankles and shake you so hard every penny's going to fall out of your pockets. So wouldn't it be prudent to give it to me first?

Mitch: "Let the lying lips be put to silence which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous."

Dorian: I know that you have certain assets which the court won't find. And if you think I'm going to grant you a divorce without getting every ill-gotten gain I've got coming to me, oh, no, my dear. So why don't you just save yourself another court case and show me the money.

Mitch: "And upon her forehead was a name written -- 'Babylon the great, mother of harlots and abominations of the earth.'"

Dorian: I should have killed you when I had the chance -- yes, both times. Speaking of divine retribution, you do recall that I have already been tried and convicted of your murder?

Mitch: "Therefore, the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment or sinners in the congregation of the righteous."

Dorian: So help me, you use the word "righteous" one more time and I will climb over this partition and I will kill you here and now and I'll get away with it. You know why? Ever hear of double jeopardy?

Mitch: Oh, you think you frighten me? "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, and the Lord delivereth him of them all."

Dorian: I doubt that. You have too many enemies for even the good Lord to manage. Oh, so many people would do anything to see you dead.

Mitch: They've tried and failed. Have you learned nothing, Dorian? As long as I live -- and I will live a long time -- you will fear me, and you will be right to fear me. I'll be right back.

Gabrielle: Max, I didn't know you were going to be here tonight.

Max: Hey. Oh -- oh, I'm not with Asa and his crowd. I'm here with Roxy and the kids.

Gabrielle: Oh. Oh, I see. And they're still having fun together, are they?

Max: Oh, yeah. I think Marcie makes Al smile more than anybody else I've ever seen.

Gabrielle: Yes. That's true. I agree. It's just I wish that --

Max: Oh, don't say it.

Gabrielle: You're right. Honesty is certainly not the best policy always.

Max: Is there something up with Bo?

Gabrielle: Yeah --

Max: Hmm.

Gabrielle: Well, no. I was honest about my feelings about Bo and Nora, their relationship.

Max: Hmm. Oh, you mean about being jealous.

Gabrielle: Yeah.

Max: Hmm.

Gabrielle: I -- I don't think it was a good idea that I said something, but on the other hand, if I didn't say anything, I think my head was going to explode.

Max: Hmm. Well, that must have been why you were having cocktails last night with Troy MacIver -- blow off a little steam, huh?

Asa: Did you read your own paper this morning?

Viki: Sure. Oh! Oh. You mean the university. Yes, I did, actually. Apparently, I'm one of the three finalists being considered.

Asa: Hell, no. We've decided.

Viki: Oh.

Asa: It's you, Viki. The other two we just for show. So you can go on and have some new business cards made.

Viki: Are you serious?

Asa: Viki, Llanview University's been going downhill the last few years, and I want to see some changes. And we feel that you're the one to do it.

Viki: Oh, my goodness. Thank you, A-- thank you ver-- I'm so -- I'm so delighted! Thank you! I am, however, still a little worried about who's going to take over at "The Banner," because if Kevin doesn't want to relocate, I don't know who we're going to get.

Asa: Let me take care of Kevin. I've got that covered.

Viki: Oh! Oh, my goodness!

Asa: Well, well, what do you know!

Viki: Oh, Honey! Oh, I'm so glad you came!

Jessica: Well, Natalie convinced me that this might be the better way to deal with things.

Viki: Thank you, Baby. Thank you so much.

Asa: Now, this is a celebration.

Blair: Sweetie, Walker is Mitch Laurenceís brother, and they are absolutely nothing alike, and Walker saved my life. And -- and Dorian has hired him to help us out at "The Sun," and he does need a place to live, Sweetie.

Starr: Not in Dad's penthouse.

Blair: Look -- nobody's living here right now.

Starr: Dad's going to come back. He is.

Blair: I hope that you are right, Sweetie.

Walker: Hey, Starr? If your dad comes home, I'll move right out of the apartment. No questions asked.

Starr: I don't like it.

Blair: Starr! Look, nobody's going to take your dad's place, Sweetheart!

Dorian: Well, I guess I don't need to ask what that was all about.

Walker: Did you get in to see Mitch?

Dorian: Yes.

Blair: Did you get anything out of him?

Dorian: Just a smokescreen of biblical proportion. I think it's better if we all stay away from him.

Blair: Well, did he say anything about Todd?

Dorian: I didn't get a chance to ask.

Blair: Well, I am going to go find out. I'm going to ask him a lot of questions.

Dorian: Unless your questions have something to do with fire, brimstone, and righteousness, just -- good luck.

Walker: Blair, wait. I don't want you going up against Mitch alone.

Woman: You haven't got a bouquet.

Jen: That's okay.

Woman: Come on. Let's pick some flowers.

Rex: Isn't there an out-of-towner's discount or anything?

Man: Everybody here's from out of town.

Joey: Where's Jen?

Natalie: That better be you.

Cristian: Better be who?

Natalie: Oh, it's you.

[Natalie giggles]

Natalie: What's this?

Cristian: Well, after that review came out in the magazine, I sold another painting.

Natalie: Oh, my God.

Cristian: You know what? Who needs the money?

Natalie: Oh, wait! So? What painting? This is great.

Cristian: It was the rooftops. I mean, it's not that big of a check, but the sales are coming, and now I have the hospital job. So, what do you think? Time to set a wedding date?

Natalie: Did you say what I think you just did?

Max: So? What's the story on you and Troy boy toy?

Gabrielle: I'm going to go talk to kids. Hello!

Al: Hey.

Gabrielle: Marcie, you look so pretty tonight.

Marcie: Oh, thank you.

Gabrielle: I'm so used to seeing such bright colors. That black -- it really --

Al: Mom?

Gabrielle: What, Darling?

Roxy: Sheís saying you look a lot thinner in black, Honey.

Gabrielle: What?

Marcie: Right.

Al: Will you excuse us?

Al: What are you trying to do, Mom? Are you trying to insult her?

Gabrielle: No, of course I'm not.

Al: Well, listen, it's fine for you to say that Marcie looks good. Compliment her. I like it. She appreciates it. But don't comment on her weight.

Gabrielle: I wasn't! I was going to say that she looks very sophisticated in black.

Al: No, you weren't, Mom. Listen, I understand that it was Roxy that drove the conversation into the ditch, but people expect that from her. Not you, okay?

Gabrielle: If I was insensitive in any way, I apologize.

Al: Fine. Just do me a favor and try and watch what you say. Please.

Viki: Asa, if there is going to be a surprise, don't you think maybe you could give us a little hint?

Asa: No.

Renee: He only told you so that you could beg.

Viki: Well, I'm not very good at waiting. Am I, honey?

Jessica: No. Grandpa, can you excuse me for a second?

Asa: Mm-hmm.

Antonio: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you.

Jessica: I'm fine.

Antonio: No, being a little jumpy's understandable.

Jessica: Yeah. I don't remember who I was before these last few weeks. Just --it's so hard, you know.

Antonio: Yeah. Yeah, I do know. You know what they say -- time heals all wounds. I promise you the worst will be over before you know it.

[Music plays]

Jessica: Is that how you felt after you found out about Keri's plane?

Antonio: Yeah, yeah, more or less.

Jessica: What's -- what's happening with that -- between you and Keri and the baby?

Antonio: Jessica, I'd rather not talk about that right now. I mean, I'm still angry, and I really don't want to be angry tonight. Tonight's about you being safe and being around the people who love you. And I will always be grateful for that, and that's why I came here tonight, so that I can say that to you.

Jessica: You came here for me?

Antonio: Oh, you bet I did. Is that a smile I saw there?

Jessica: Stop.

Antonio: Now, that is the smile that I love.

Jessica: I'm sorry. I canít.

Antonio: No, no, no. I -- I'm sorry. It was just such a relief to see you smile again. I -- I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you.

Jessica: It wasn't you, it wasn't you, it was me. I got to go.

Cristian: Mr. Buchanan, I want to thank you for letting me be a part of this tonight. You know, I didn't score many points with you when I quit your chauffeur job.

Asa: Yes, you did not, but you're lucky I don't hold a grudge -- as long as my granddaughter has a smile like that when you're in the same room.

Cristian: Well, we both have good reason to be smiling.

Viki: Oh?

Renee: What's going on?

Cristian: What are you all doing November 7?

[Viki gasps]

Cristian: Well, Natalie and I thought it'd be nice to get married.

[Renee gasps]

Viki: Oh, well, well, well.

Renee: Oh!

Viki: Oh, my darling, congratulations!

Renee: Oh, that's so wonderful.

Viki: Oh, Sweetie, I'm so happy.

Renee: Oh, that's terrific.

Asa: So, you're finally going to do it?

Natalie: Finally, everything clicked.

Asa: Good luck.

Cristian: Thanks.

Roxy: Hey, I want to propose a little toast. To the best kid I never had.

[Roxy laughs]

Roxy: Whoever thought she'd marry such a looker? Okay, here's to a lot of happiness and a whole lot of moola.

Asa: And I'd like to make a toast of my own. Cristian is the only man with good news. Here's to my lucky 13th and last engagement. To you, Renee. Look at that. She's speechless. Just say yes, Honey.

Renee: No, Asa. No way in hell.

Mitch: Two Cramer women in one day. "Then there came two women, both harlots, unto the king and stood before him."

Blair: Are you done? I hope so, because I don't have a lot of time to spend on scripture. I'm just going to lay the facts out here on the line, all right? My testimony could have a big influence on your sentencing. But I'm willing to negotiate. I'll go easy if you tell me what really happened to Todd. I want to know. And so do my children. Is he alive?

Mitch: Well, if I was a betting man, I'd bet on death. It comes to us all, sooner or later. Sometimes sooner. "And he laid a hold of the dragon and cast him into a bottomless pit and shut him up."

Blair: I have to go.

Joey: Jen?

Rex: Why are you here?

Joey: To stop Jen from making a huge mistake.

Rex: Well, she doesn't want to see you.

Joey: Why don't you let Jen come here and tell me that?

Rex: Ahem. I'll tell you what, Rev. Whatever you have to say to her, just tell me. That's how it works with husband and wife, right? Yeah, that right. You're too late.

Dorian: Blair, of course I realize that I don't own any part of "The Sun," but I always thought you valued my input.

Blair: I do. And I think it'll be wonderful if we work together at "The Sun," but I just want you to understand that I don't own "The Sun." Starr does.

Dorian: Understood.

Blair: Okay.

Dorian: But we'll make a great team, won't we?

[Blair sighs]

Dorian: Blair?

Blair: What?

Dorian: Honey, you're still upset over seeing Mitch, aren't you?

Blair: The freak practically admitted that he killed Todd.

Dorian: I am so sorry. Darling, did you move my papers?

Blair: No.

Dorian: You sure?

Blair: No, I didn't move your papers, Dorian. You know, just talking about Todd -- where's Starr?

Dorian: Upstairs playing video games.

Blair: I guess I should talk to her. I mean, she thinks her daddy is coming back, but I just don't feel like I can until I can really hold it together, you know?

Dorian: That's a good idea. Yeah, and it also might be better to wait, you know, since you and Walker are getting so close.

Blair: I'm not close with Walker.

Dorian: Well, I just mean you seem close.

Blair: I have no romantic interest in Walker. Hmm, but from that little smirk on your face, maybe you do.

Dorian: Oh Ė

Mitch: You betrayed me, Brother.

Walker: No matter what you think, I didn't make my choices lightly, Mitch. I held your life in my hands, and when push came to shove, I didn't pull the trigger, did I? It's not to me to condemn you.

Mitch: Oh. Are you offering absolution?

Walker: I'm willing to do whatever it takes to set it right.

Mitch: What can you do?

Walker: Well, there's a lot of rich and powerful people in this town that want to see you go down hard. I -- I'll fight them. I mean, I'll help you fight the charges.

Mitch: No. God will fight the charges.

Walker: Mitch, I know you have other assets -- accounts, cash property. Would you rather see them go to that woman you married, or -- or to help pay for your defense? You tell me where they are and I'll use them to help get you out of here. I will stand behind you, Mitch. I swear on my life.

Asa: What are you talking about? You know damn well you want to marry me.

Renee: You could have at least asked me.

Asa: What did I just do?

Renee: You told me! When are you ever going to learn? You can't -- you can't tell people -- I --

[Asa sighs]

Asa: Oh, she'll come around.

Roxy: Yo, man, let me give you a little free advice. Next time a little bit more romance, a little less bulldozer.

Marcie: Well, there's so much talk about weddings today. Cris and Natalie, Mr. Buchanan and Ms. Divine, Jen and Rex --

Roxy: Jen and Rex?

Marcie: Yeah, they're going to Atlantic City to get married. Didn't Rex tell you?

Roxy: My little baby boy is getting married in my favorite city and he didn't invite me? Come on, Max. We got to go.

Max: Whoa, we're not going anywhere. I'm not zipping off to Atlantic City in the middle of the night. It's not -- oh --

Roxy: You bet your sweet tush you're going!

Max: She's in love with me.

Al: You all have fun now.

Max: Oh, thanks for the help!

Roxy: Come on, man!

Rex: You see, Jenís already in the honeymoon suite and I'm just settling up expenses here. But I'll tell you what. I'll give you the number and room to our hotel, and you can stop by and see her. Huh? How about --

[Rex sighs]

Jen: Was somebody else just here?

Rex: Yeah, some guy came in with his girl, but I told him the chapel was already taken. Okay, are we all set?

Natalie: Too bad Jessica had to leave before we made our announcement. I hope she's going to be okay.

Cristian: Yeah, Jess will be fine. She's strong.

Natalie: I just -- I can't believe that we're actually -- we're definitely getting married.

Cristian: Well, Honey, you better believe it, because we got a lot of work to do and Novemberís right around the corner.

Natalie: Yeah, it's too long.

Viki: Well, I'm sorry you were stuck and couldn't get here, Bo. No, Jessie was here. She came for a little while. I think it was a bit much for her. Yeah. No, no, I called to check on her. She said she's fine, so, you know -- Kevin!

Joey: Hi. Do you have a Jennifer Rappaport registered? Wait -- I meant -- ahem -- Jennifer Balsom.

Man: If there is anyone present who can show just cause why these two people --

Rex: Hey! Hey. Who's here but us, huh? Skip that part. And we both "do." Go ahead.

Man: By the power vested in me in the state of New Jersey, I now pronounce you husband and wife.

[Wedding music plays]

Dorian: When would I have developed a romantic interest in Walker? I hardly know the man.

Blair: Well, he took a bullet for me and he hardly knew me, and that's points in my book, so I trust him.

Dorian: Oh, I see no reason not to. But I do think it might be better if the two of us kept our relationships with him -- hmm -- strictly professional.

Mitch: Well, this is quite a leap of faith on my part, Brother, trusting you with this. I'm taking that leap because I believe in the bond of our blood.

Walker: Is this everything?

Walker: She won't get your money, Brother. Is it "Deliver him from going down into the pit, I have found a ransom"? Is that sort of how it goes?

Mitch: Job 33:24.

Walker: Yeah, I'm sure you're right. No, she won't get the money. And you'll never see it again either. After all, you're going to rot in prison till the day you die.

[Walker laughs]

Troy: How'd you get out of St. Ann's?

Joey: I heard you and Rex were getting married.

Jen: What do you think?

Viki: How long are you staying?

Asa: He's not here for a visit.

Mitch: You can't abandon me.

Walker: Oh, sure I can.
