Joey: I heard about your father. Is there anything I can do?

Lindsay: I shot Sam! Mitch: All the evidence points to Todd Manning.

Bo: Lindsay, this is Bo. I need to talk to you about Sam.

[Music plays]

Al: The voice of the night back to see you through another late shift. The sun's down, nobody's looking, so get your groove on or get between the sheets.

[Knock on door]

Al: It's time to let your wildest dreams come out and play.

Cristian: Mrs. Davidson.

Viki: Cristian. Hello. Is Natalie here?

Cristian: No, she's not, but she should be back pretty soon. Is everything all right?

Viki: Yeah, yeah. You're busy. I'll come back later, okay?

Cristian: I don't think that's such a good idea.

Viki: Why not?

Roxy: Ooh! Watch your step, baby.

Natalie: If I break my neck, I'm going to come after you.

Roxy: No, we're almost there.

Natalie: Oh. Can I just take this thing off?

Roxy: What? Hey! Stand still. I'm looking for the light. Ooh. Ow!

Natalie: I don't know why you're wasting your time. I told you I didn't get the divorce. I'm as broke as you are.

Roxy: Ah -- it's someplace around here.

Natalie: Oh, God, it smells like something died in here.

Roxy: Nothing that a little odor therapy wouldn't fix. Okay. Good. I got it. All right. The count of three, take off the blindfold. One, two, three. Is this a dream come true or what?

[Roxy laughs]

Roxy: Oh. Yeah, that's what I said when the realty lady showed me this place. What did I do to deserve all of this?

Jen: How'd you know I'd be staying here?

Joey: My Uncle Bo told me. I'm really sorry about your father, Jen.

Jen: Look, if you came here to pray, I'm not interested.

Joey: I came here to make sure you're all right.

Jen: I'm fine. And the last thing I want to do is talk about it.

Joey: Then why are you sitting in a hotel room by yourself?

Jen: Maybe it's because I don't want to be at my dad's place.

Joey: Look, why don't you let me take you downstairs? I'll get you a soda. Coffee. Whatever. It's better than sitting in an empty room. Come on. You don't even have to talk if you don't want to.

Lindsay: Yes, I spilt my drink earlier, and someone did come pick it up, but they didn't ask me if I wanted another one.

Rex: Well, that would be me.

Lindsay: Could I please have a double martini?

Rex: There's no such thing as a double martini --

Lindsay: Could you just bring me two martinis, then, please?

Nigel: I brought your phone messages.

Asa: Rappaport dame over there -- she's jumpy as a cat in a room full of rockers.

Nigel: Her ex-husband was brutally murdered, Sir.

Asa: So what? She's got a half a dozen exes left, including both of my fool sons.

Nigel: I believe Clint was the only one who actually made it through the ceremony. Bo's nuptials were interrupted just in the nick of time, as I remember.

Asa: Close enough. All right, who's pestering me?

Nigel: Mr. Cho about the new refinery in Shanghai. The Republican National Committee. The Democratic National Committee.

Asa: Send them a check.

Nigel: Which one, Sir?

Asa: Both. Next?

Nigel: Mr. Livingston of your North Sea operations. Ms. Roxy -- well --

Asa: What was that?

Nigel: Oh, it was nothing important, Sir.

Asa: Nigel.

Nigel: Ms. Balsom has left a number of messages.

Asa: How many?

Nigel: Eight. Something about an investment?

Asa: You got to hand it to that Roxy. That's one filly that isn't a quitter.

Roxy: Get off of me, you eight-legged freak. No, no, no, no, no! Seven years of bad luck.

Natalie: Okay, this place is infested, Roxy.

Roxy: Yeah, darn right it's a good investment. This is a gold mine. I've got it all planned out in my head. All right. Pink lights -- because even a hag looks like a movie star. And the walls -- pink. Pink. Pink. You like pink?

Natalie: Not especially.

Roxy: What about hot pink?

Natalie: It's your fantasy.

Roxy: No, baby, this is real. This is lights, action, and camera. And this joint is going to be jumping if I got anything to say about it.

Natalie: Why don't you just level it, start from scratch?

Roxy: Hey, Honey, you ever hear of the expression "good bones"?

Natalie: I mean, who's going to come over to Angel Square, anyway, just to get a haircut?

Roxy: Haircut schmaircut. I don't care just about that. I'm talking about the total look. I'm talking about the spa thing. I'm talking about having this whole town's head right in my hands. Okay, so what do you think? Partners or what?

Natalie: No, I told you, I don't have any money.

Roxy: Well, Honey, like the old times. You know, we could be working side by side.

Natalie: Oh, wait. You mean when I was working and you were watching?

Roxy: You know, you'd be a lot of fun if you didn't have an infective memory. Well, forget about the past. I'm talking about -- I'm talking about right now. I'm talking about spicing up our lives a little, huh?

Natalie: All right, I don't think you're hearing me. I don't have any money. I am broke, okay? Nada, zilch, none. And it's going to take a real angel to get in here and fix this place up.

Roxy: Yeah. Well, that could be a problem.

Mitch: Yes, the judge signed off on the annulment. Everything is going according to plan. Yes, I thought you'd be pleased. No, no. The Todd Manning problem is no longer a problem.

Flash: Well, it ain't The Palace.

Man: Well, it's good enough for what we're going to do, right?

Jen: Mom. I'll be right back.

Joey: Take your time.

Lindsay: Hi.

Jen: What are you doing here?

Lindsay: I was just -- I just had a meeting with a buyer, but I'm going now.

Jen: Are you okay to drive?

Lindsay: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I haven't really had much to drink, but I've really got to get out of here.

Bo: Lindsay. Where you running off to?

Lindsay: You know what? You were right. We should do this at the police station.

Bo: No, no, no, no. No, you're not going to drag me all over town. I've got some questions for you. You can answer them right here, right now.

Lindsay: I was just on my way to the ladies' room.

Bo: Oh. Well, don't even think about not coming back, okay?

Jen: How can your uncle be hanging out in a bar when Todd Manning's running free?

Joey: Yeah, I heard he was a suspect.

Jen: It makes sense. My dad -- he was at Blair's. Everyone knows that Todd's a jealous maniac.

Joey: Todd's pretty messed up, but a killer?

Jen: Whose side are you on?

Joey: Hey, I'm not Todd Manning. I mean, I don't even particularly like the guy.

Jen: He killed my dad.

Joey: If he's guilty, the police will find him. Now, why are you staying in a hotel by yourself?

Jen: It's just for the night. I'm going to go to my dad's -- tomorrow. Tomorrow, I guess.

Joey: You sure?

Jen: It'll still feel like him. Somebody's got to go through his things.

Joey: You know, I really didn't even know your dad.

Jen: He was -- I mean, I know my mom's always been crazy, but -- he was just -- he was always there, you know? He -- he just always seemed to know what was important. He took care of us.

Joey: Super Dad, huh?

Jen: Pretty much, yeah. I mean, our family was far from normal, but -- my parents split up because I walked in on my mom with another guy.

Joey: Ooh. That's heavy.

Jen: I always wondered if I should've stayed quiet about that.

Joey: Do you think your dad really would've wanted that?

Jen: He was always honest. But I'm more like my mom. Pretty much a major disappointment. He tried not to show it, but I know it was true.

Joey: Here.

Jen: You probably think I'm such an idiot.

Joey: No. It'd be weird if you weren't upset about losing your father.

Jen: I mean, I wouldn't have even known you if it hadn't been for him. He's the one that made me fess up to lying to the judge about Cristian. Made me do that stupid community service.

Joey: So you were kind of mad at him?

Jen: Oh, my God. I mean, the last time I talked to him, I didn't even tell him that I loved him.

Asa: The word's out that Todd Manning gunned down Sammy Rappaport. True?

Bo: He's one of several suspects, Pa. And you know that I can't discuss the case with you. What are you up to?

Nigel: Mr. Buchanan's thinking of going into cosmetology.

Asa: Shut up, Nigel. It seems that that nut job Roxy wants me to bankroll her in a beauty parlor.

Bo: Roxanne Balsom?

Asa: Have you ever heard of anything so loony? Cheers.

Roxy: Hey, Honey, you know, it was lousy what that lady lawyer did. You know -- I mean, you know, how did she know that he didn't have any ink, you know? I mean, you know, think about that one.

Natalie: You're a nut.

Roxy: I just wanted to be an entre-manure.

Natalie: Maybe one day.

Roxy: Well, thanks for almost helping me out.

Natalie: You know, it's going to take, like, 50 grand to get this place okay.

Roxy: No way. Iíve been watching the "I Can Decorate" channel.

Natalie: When do you have time to leave your house?

Roxy: 30 grand, tops.

Natalie: Roxy, come on. What difference does it make? Between the two of us here, you and I don't have a one.

[Music plays]

Viki: Why don't you think I should see Natalie?

Cristian: I don't really know how to say this.

Viki: Just say it.

Cristian: Well, you know that Natalie's had it pretty rough?

Viki: Yes. Most of her life.

Cristian: Right. And that's part of what made her who she is and who I love, but -- well, she puts up this tough front.

Viki: I know that, Cristian. She's very vulnerable.

Cristian: Yeah. But the way things went for her in court -- she's hurting right now.

Viki: I know that. That's why I'm here. I want to help her. Oh, okay. I get it. She's going to run away, isn't she? Anything that I offer, she's going to reject. Is that it?

[Music plays]

Al: Under the cover of darkness, it's easy to sell your soul to the highest bidder. If you can hear me and you're thinking of going that route, make sure you get a real good price.

Man: Hey, relax, Angel.

Flash: I got to go take a shower.

Man: Hey -- don't take too long. The clock's running.

Evangeline: Frankly, the outcome of this case depends a lot on Judge Grafton's mood. You got a lot of baggage. You're up on kidnapping charges --

Mitch: No. Blair won't testify against me. I was trying to save my daughter's life. Blair loves her children very much. She'll see the light. I want you to get this criminal case postponed. I will take care of all the rest.

Evangeline: Not a problem. The prosecution's asked for more time.

Mitch: Good. I want you to focus on the will contest, and no mistakes.

Evangeline: I left a paralegal at my office combing the internet for precedents.

Evangeline: I'm not going to sugarcoat this. Judge Grafton could go either way. The Lord/Buchanan name carries a lot of weight in this town.

Mitch: The mighty will be brought low.

Asa: There you go.

Rex: Mr. Buchanan? I'm Roxy Balsom's son. I know she talked to you about her beauty salon, and I just wanted to say that my mom is a real genius when it comes to doing hair.

[Nigel moans]

Rex: I'll get your change.

Nigel: Well, what should I tell Mr. Cho about the new refinery? Sir?

Asa: What?

Nigel: Is there anything I should say to Mr. Cho?

Asa: No.

Nigel: If I might offer a word of advice --

Asa: Nigel, keep your advice to yourself.

Rex: There you go, Sir -- your change. Thank you.

Asa: Hold it.

Rex: Thank you. Thank you very much.

Asa: You're welcome.

Renee: Gentlemen. Sir. Jen. Hi, Darling. I -- I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am about your father. He was a really wonderful man.

Joey: Hey, are you still having problems with theft in the rooms?

Renee: Yes, we're taking precautions to make sure that it doesn't happen again.

Joey: You don't still suspect Flash, do you?

Renee: Joey --

[Phone rings]

Renee: Excuse me. I have to answer the phone.

Jen: Who's Flash?

Joey: Um -- you know what? Let's concentrate on you. You're not really too happy about working at the community center, huh?

Jen: What was your first clue?

Joey: Why don't you think of it as doing something for your dad?

Jen: Well, my dad doesn't really care anymore.

Joey: Look, it'll keep you busy and you'll be around people.

Jen: Yuck.

Joey: Well, it's better than being alone, especially right now.

Jen: Maybe I want to be alone.

Joey: Well, if you still feel that way, I'll arrange something with the judge.

Jen: You will?

Joey: But eventually, you will have to finish what you started.

Lindsay: Can we make this quick? I have a lot of arrangements to make.

Bo: I'm just trying to get a sense of what Sam was doing these last few days.

Lindsay: Why don't you ask Blair that?

Bo: Because I'm asking you. Now, when you talked to him -- if you talked to him --

Lindsay: Sam and I talk a lot.

Bo: Okay, did he say anything that struck you as odd? Anything at all?

Lindsay: Everybody loved Sam. Everybody but Todd. I don't know why you're not questioning him.

Bo: Yeah, I heard that you think Todd shot Sam.

Lindsay: Where did you hear that?

Bo: From Jen. Why didn't you mention it to me?

Lindsay: I thought you would figure that out.

Bo: No, I failed mind reading.

Lindsay: Todd shot Cristian. Everybody knows how jealous that Todd is if anyone so much as looked at Blair. He did it. It's obvious.

Bo: Well, see, I'm trying to keep an open mind here. By the way, where were you the night of the shooting -- before you drove by Blair's?

Lindsay: I was with a buyer, talking about art and drinking wine and --

Bo: Okay. What was the buyer's name?

Lindsay: That's confidential.

Bo: Confidentiality -- that's for lawyers and for doctors, not for gallery owners. Now, who --

Jen: Can't you see she's upset? Why are you hassling her?

Lindsay: It's all right.

Jen: Why aren't you out trying to find Todd Manning?

Bo: I'm just asking your mother where she was the night of the shooting.

Jen: Leave her alone.

Lindsay: I can handle this.

Jen: Just -- just tell him. Tell him where you were. She spent the evening with Mitch Laurence.

Bo: Laurence?

Jen: Satisfied?

Bo: Lindsay?

Lindsay: If he wants to buy art, then why shouldn't I sell it to him?

Roxy: Could you get Viki to front me the money for this place?

Natalie: Do you honestly think my mom's going to help you do anything?

Roxy: Well, maybe she'll do it for you. You know, $50,000 -- you know, that's just chump change to her.

Natalie: Come on, I'm not -- I'm not going to take my mom's money, and I'm not going to lie to her.

Roxy: Oh, excuse me, but you would lie to a judge who would put you in jail and you can't lie for the woman who raised you? Come on. I'm going to pay back every red cent.

Natalie: Look; if this thing goes on with Mitch and the will, my mom's not going to want to invest her money in anything.

Roxy: Okay. How about if she gives you the money before she goes to court, and then I pay it back on the Q.T., interest included, and everybody wins.

Natalie: And how do I know you're not going to blow it like you did with Max's money?

Roxy: Oh, Honey, that was last month. This is a new day. I've always had this dream I'd own my own beauty parlor. But, you know, if I can't -- well, you know, just forget about it.

Natalie: I better get going. Cristian might be wondering, you know.

Roxy: Yeah. Scoot, kiddo. Because I got plans. Big plans.

Roxy: Who the hell am I kidding?

Asa: All right, Roxy. Just for the hell of it, talk me through this cockamamie idea of yours.

Viki: These are wonderful, Cristian. I thought you'd stopped drawing.

Cristian: Natalie sort of got me back into it.

Viki: Oh.

Cristian: Hand's better now.

Viki: I always thought you were very talented.

Cristian: Thanks. This stuff -- this is just for me right now.

Viki: Look, if you ever need any -- thank you for your candor, Cristian.

Natalie: Wow. Both my moms visit on the same day.

Viki: I happened to be in the neighborhood, and I wanted to stop by, see how you were doing. This is cozy.

Natalie: It's home. So, why are you really here?

[Music plays ]

[Water runs]

[Knock on door]

Man: Come on. I don't have all night, you know.

Flash: I'm almost done.

[Music plays]

Man: Hey, you're not even wet. What the heck are you trying to pull here?

Flash: I can't -- I can't do this.

Man: I should've known you were a waste of time.

Flash: I'm really, really sorry. I'm really sorry.

Man: You know, I didn't ask you to do anything you didn't want to do.

Flash: I -- I thought that I could.

Man: I'll live.

Man: I got kids almost your age. Listen -- take some advice -- get yourself a new line of work. This one's a dead end, sometimes literally.

Flash: I've never -- I've never done this before.

Man: Obviously.

Flash: Look, I don't have any money for this hotel room. I'm broke.

Man: Oh, forget it. Look -- buy yourself a bus ticket for home before you end up floating face-down in the river.

Man: Suit yourself. But you see me around here, we never met. You hear me?

Joey: What happened to Jen? Why'd she take off?

Bo: Well, her mother was upset, so she took her home.

Joey: Think I should go after them?

Bo: No, no, I think she'll be okay.

Joey: I'll see you later, Bo.

Bo: Yeah, yeah. We ought to play golf or something -- soon. Balsom -- I gave you a 20.

Rex: Oh, I'm sorry, Commissioner. This bartender -- I'll straighten it out.

Renee: Hey.

Bo: Hello.

Renee: You have been far too much a stranger around here. How's everything with you and Gabrielle?

Bo: Everything's great -- whenever we have a chance to see each other.

Rex: There you go, Sir.

Bo: Keep it.

Viki I really just stopped by to see how you were doing.

Natalie: You just happened to be in the neighborhood?

Viki: Well, happened on purpose, I guess. Unfortunately, I have to go now. I have a meeting with the lawyers about father's will.

Natalie: Mitch can't win this.

Viki: I certainly hope not. Natalie, are you going to come to the probate hearing?

Natalie: Yeah. Yeah, I'll be there.

Viki: Well, that's good. Thank you very much. I'll see you then.

Natalie: Okay.

Viki: Thank you very much. Excuse me.

Natalie: What's going on?

Roxy: Foxy Roxy's Hair Haven. What do you think?

Asa: Well, I tell you, Roxy, it's got kind of a nice ring to it. But this place is a dump.

Roxy: No, it's a diamond in the buff. For a measly $100,000, I can make this place into a paradise. So, I already have $50,000, so all's I need is --

Asa: Is 50 more.

Roxy: Yeah. 50 and 50 --

Asa: 100 grand for this?

Roxy: Yeah.

Asa: I mean, what are you planning on, solid gold sinks?

Roxy: Not exactly, but it's got to be classy. Destination-type beauty.

Asa: You want me to invest in this dump; you come clean with me, and right now. Who's putting up the rest of the money?

Rex: Judge Grafton?

Judge Grafton: Yes, I am.

Rex: This was delivered for you earlier.

[Phone rings]

Judge Grafton: Hello.

Mitch: Good evening, Judge. This is Mitch Laurence.

Judge Grafton: How did you get this number?

Mitch: I understand you'll be on the bench for the hearing concerning Victor Lord's will.

Judge Grafton: I'm hanging up now.

Mitch: Did you get the package I left for you? What do you suppose the I.R.S. would do if they got wind of those dirty little deposits?

Al: It's so easy to go past the point of no return. But think before you cross that line. You could spend the rest of your life trying to get back to where it is you came from.

Lindsay: Leave me alone.

Mitch: Lindsay, how long have you been out here? Are you all right?

Lindsay: Yes, I'm fine. Fine.

Joey: Flash? Flash? Are you in there?

[Knock on door]

Joey: Come on, open up. Flash.

[Music plays]

[Flash cries]

Al: You only get one soul, so if you have the guts, save it for the one you love.

Cristian: Nothing's going on.

Natalie: Okay, something's weird. Mom didn't ask to hang around and she didn't want to beg me to come home and be a member of the family and -- what's going on?

Cristian: Maybe that's because I promised her that I'd take good care of you.

Natalie: You told her that?

Cristian: Yes, I told her that I loved you and that I wasn't going to let anything happen to you ever again.

Natalie: You know what? I meant what I said. This is my home.

Lindsay: I talked to Bo.

Mitch: Did you tell him what you were supposed to?

Lindsay: Can I sit down?

Mitch: You did tell the commission that we were together the night of the murder?

Lindsay: I tried really hard not to mention your name.

Mitch: That was the whole point. Look, you -- you did tell him where we were, didn't you, Lindsay?

Lindsay: Yes, I told him that we were talking about art and drinking wine.

Mitch: Good girl. Did he believe you?

Lindsay: He thinks Todd did it.

Mitch: I'm glad to see that you've gotten a grip on your nerves. You were a bit on the edge the other night.

Lindsay: The night I shot Troy.

Mitch: No, it wasn't Troy. It was Sam.

Lindsay: That's what I said.

Mitch: All you have to remember is that we were together when Todd Manning shot Sam.

Lindsay: Talking about art and drinking wine.

Mitch: That's right. Now, you just keep saying that, and everything will be fine. .

Joey: Come on, Flash, it's Joe Buchanan! I'm getting the manager. You okay?

Flash: Please get me out of here.

Joey: Okay, okay, okay.

Roxy: Yeah, I got a silent partner. He's rich. He's foreign. Big tycoon. He thinks the Hair Haven is going to be huge.

Asa: He does, does he?

Roxy: Yeah, he's already talking French eyes. Yeah, he sees a Foxy Roxy's in a mall from sea to shining sea. So, you know, if you go in on the deal, you know, you might have to buy yourself a bank so you can hold all that extra moola.

Asa: I have plenty of banks already, Roxy. No deal. 50 grand is all this dump is worth.

Roxy: Yeah, well, I guess that'll do in a pinch.

Asa: Oh! What a surprise, Asa. I figured. So, I put all the money up?

Roxy: Mm-hmm.

Asa: What is your contribution?

Roxy: Brains, talent -- the whole combo platter. I'm a hair visionary. You know, and I'm real tired of waiting for these uptight people in this town to figure it all out.

Asa: Okay. You got a deal, Roxy.

Roxy: Ha-ha! Yes!

Asa: Oh, no. Oh, no. Whoa.

Roxy: What?

Asa: One more thing.

Roxy: What?

Asa: Don't you ever lie to me.

Roxy: I would never lie to you. And you're not going to regret this. I promise.

Asa: You make damn sure I don't.

Evangeline: I just found the precedent that's going to blow their case sky-high. Darnell vs. Darnell. Check this out. Something wrong?

Mitch: I just had a rather troublesome visit from someone who may be losing it.

Evangeline: Mentally?

Mitch: Regrettably, yes. And this person, when pushed to the edge, can become lethal.

Evangeline: Should I be worried?

Mitch: No, not yet. But it will be necessary to take care of the problem before it gets out of hand.

Sam: What are they saying, Lindsay?

Lindsay: Leave me alone. I didn't mean to shoot you.

Sam: But you did, Lindsay. And you can't undo it.

Sam: I won't go away. I can't. Not until you've paid for what you've done.

Al: No matter how hard we try, we can't outrun our ghosts. The only way to make them happy is to look them in the eye and welcome them in.

[Knock on door]

Bo: Hi, Jen. You going somewhere?

Jen: I was thinking about moving to my dad's. It's not like I can really forget about him here.

Bo: Well, I don't want to keep you, but --

Jen: No, no, come in.

Bo: Thank you. I listened to your dad's answering machine, and your message on there -- you sounded real worried about your mom.

Jen: Yeah, well, I guess I should've been more worried about my dad.

Bo: Did you think she was in some kind of danger?

Jen: Only from herself.

Bo: You what -- you think she might take too many pills or what?

Jen: Not pills, no. She had a gun. I saw it.

Natalie: Nobody's ever ma me breakfast in bed before. Thank you.

Jessica: I'm so sorry about your father.

Will: Me, too.

Bo: I'm doing everything I can to find out who killed Sam, so I need answers.

Viki: Stop drooling. You haven't won yet..
